honestly, some of my favourite history classes in uni were "Demons and Demonologists", "Medieval Magic and the Origins of the Witch Craze", and "Merlin the Magician". My calendar was full of "Demon essay due", "Witch seminar", and "Merlin exam".
(also, shoutout to my module called "Pirates of the Caribbean", and meant I got to call my professor variations of "pirate professor")
taking a class on sex this semester which has resulted in many fun things like "sex activity" and "sex final" being added to my planner. being very mature and serious about this .

Welcome to the SAS: Rogue Heroes 2025 Reverse Bang!
What is a Reverse Bang?
A Reverse Bang is exactly what it sounds like - the reverse of a big bang! In a big bang event, authors sign up with fic concepts, which artists can then claim to create art for. In a reverse bang, the artists provide the concept and art, and the authors write a fic inspired by it! We will be running this reverse bang as a slightly more collaborative process than in some typical reverse bangs. Often, these exchanges consist of an artist providing a complete work of art and the author creating for it without much teamwork, but we wanted to create this event to be a way of building community within the fandom as much as it is a fun way to create more fic and art!
So how does this work?
Artists will sign up before authors, and submit one (or more, if you're feeling ambitious) concept and sketch! The concept can be vague or detailed, but it should be around one to two paragraphs, ideally providing the author with enough details to jump off of but still leaving them some room to be creative. It will also list the ship or ships included, and any requested rating or firm nos that the artist might have in terms of content. Once artist sign ups are complete, authors will submit claims for the top three concepts they'd like to work on, and the mods will pair up artists and authors to work on their projects together. You and your partner can decide on what level of collaboration feels right for you, and you'll have the working period to create your finished fics and art.
What's the schedule?
You can find the full schedule for the exchange here.
What if I have to drop out?
While we obviously would love for everyone to be able to complete their projects by the deadline, we recognize that sometimes life gets in the way! We will be happy to work with anyone individually to provide extensions for posting or do what we can to help you get your projects finished, but in the event that that's not possible, we will have participants on deck to jump in as pinch hitters to take over for you.
What are the requirements?
Requirements for the exchange are as follows:
For authors, a complete fic of at least 10000 words. While you are welcome to write more in the universe of your fic after the exchange (provided your artist agrees to that), the fic published upon the exchange deadline should be able to stand alone as a complete story.
For artists, 2 complete pieces of art. We trust you to fully define completed for yourself, but this means at the least no visible sketch lines, either colored or intentionally shaded. You are also welcome to create a comic, graphic, or playlist (with cover art), or any mix of these forms of media. If you have an idea for a piece of art that is not mentioned here, feel free to reach out! We're flexible!
What do you need from me to sign up?
The original sign up form will be fairly simple! All we ask from you is your name/nickname, an email that you check regularly, and a way for your partner to get in contact with you! We will be running the exchange primarily through discord and tumblr, with informational emails going out as we get further into the process. While joining the discord server will make it easier for us all to stay in touch (and provide a convenient way of staying in touch with your partner!), it is only recommended, not required. If you are signing up as an author, that's all you have to do until claims open!
If you're signing up as an artist, you will be provided a link once we've received your signup form so that you can submit your concept directly to us. Artists are more than welcome to submit more than once concept, provided they feel confident in their ability to complete four works by the deadline instead of just two! The only big requirement for your concept is that it's not something you've discussed publicly before, whether that's on tumblr or in a discord server - we want our pairings to be as anonymous as possible.
But what if there's someone in the fandom I don't get along with?
You will be asked on your signup sheet if there is anyone specifically you don't feel comfortable working with in the fandom. This information is fully anonymous and will not be seen or communicated to anyone other than the mods.
What if I want to help out with a slightly lower level of commitment?
Sign up as a beta reader! We will have separate beta reader signups opening a bit later in the process, where you can let us know what in particular you feel confident on in terms of beta reading so we can connect you to an author! Some authors are just looking for cheerleading, or proofreading, while others may be looking for more in depth structural editing. While we encourage authors to work with their artists first on building the plot and structure, we recognise that not all artists will be interested in that part of the process, or that sometimes it's just helpful to get a pair of outside eyes on your work.
What if there's more authors interested than artists?
We recognize that this is a more author heavy fandom and are doing what we can to counteract that. Artists are encouraged (though of course in no way required) to submit multiple concepts to provide more opportunities for authors. We're also opening artist sign ups a little early to try to get a sense of how many concepts will be submitted, and may be pausing or capping author signups early if the numbers are growing too quickly. If you still want sign up after the cap is set you will be added to a waiting list in case anyone drops out, and any authors who don't get through to claims will be encouraged to sign up as a pinch hitter or beta reader.
