𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐀𝐅𝐄 𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐒𝐄 𝐇𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐁𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐃𝐀𝐘𝐒: dust tucked in the corners to form little piles that spilled out between the grout hugging the uneven terra-cotta tiles, bits of sand and gravel scattered around the place like a storm’s passed through, and the stale desert air that’s so oppressive it’s continuing to bake the entire compound well into the night.

But it’ll have to do. With this being the only shelter around, you’ll have to suck it up unless you want to hoof it an entire city over with 30 kg of gear – nearly an hour south of where you are, if not more; there’s really no luxury of complaining about your current accommodations despite the feeling that these four walls made of adobe brick seem much better at regulating temperature than keeping out any hostiles that could still possibly be on your trail.

The whole situation's unfortunate. You would’ve slept on the floor if you could guarantee that sand wouldn’t find a way to cram itself up your nose. So, you’d opted to share the shitty, lumpy mattress in the bedroom with the Lieutenant.

"Oi, quit movin'," he huffs out through the dark, his heavy voice cutting into the midnight blackness that seems to swallow up the room. It's impossible to get a good look at him without much light, but you can see the outline of his figure when you move your head to the side.

You’ve been tossing and turning, not even really to do with the discomfort of the bed – wretched thing – but the knowledge that the people hunting you down could close the gap within a matter of hours if they wanted to. It's been more staring up at the ceiling than anything since the two of you decided to retire for the night.

And then Ghost continues, “I’m tryin’ to sleep.”

He’s not. He doesn’t sleep well – insomnia, maybe. With the way he is on some missions, you’d be hard-pressed to think that he ever gotten a full night’s worth of uninterrupted shut-eye. Always staying awake, always assigning himself to the graveyard shift for watch while everyone else squeezes in a few hours of rest before the sun comes up. Of course, he’s never bothered to tell you if that’s really the case – having trouble going down for some sleep – and you’ve never cared enough to ask. The two of you aren’t necessarily on close terms like that.

"The idea that they're still out there is making me a little restless," you admit – feels odd to be sharing your fears with him, but maybe that'll get him off your back, make him tone his temper down.

“I wouldn’t worry about that.”

A scoff leaves your mouth. "Easy enough for you to say."

“Yeah, it is. And you know I'm not gonna let that happen, because anyone that tries, is gonna have to get through me first.”

#poorly drawn mdzs #mdzs #wei wuxian #granny wen #a-yuan #It's always fascinating how colours translate from the page to the screen.#It would probably surprise a lot of people to see what some of these comics actually look like in physical form.#My lighter colours takes about 3-4 washes before it shows up on scan which means it tends to ripple the page.#And my yellows and oranges are drastically different colours when scanned compared to the ink colour.#There's about 20 or so comics where everyone's hair is purple - because it scanned in the exact same colour as my light grey.#Wait my book is right here in front of me so I can...yeah...Comics 57-77 were indeed purple.#This is all to say - is it not fascinating how what we see is often not the full truth of what the subject truly is?#Is it not fascinating to open another episode that reminds us that despite everyone's claims they could totally spot the evil YLLZ-#-The man walks around among them for months as no more than a man haggling for deals like the rest.#It's almost as if he's just a person. It's almost as if none of us - no matter what we do are really anything more than just a person.#Your good acts will be overtaken by how other's interpret you in negative light.#Just as easily are people willing to forgive crueler actions if they hold you in high esteem.#But what's real? Is the page I hold the real version of this comic? Is it the one you look at?#Is the man known as Wuxian the most himself when he is alone or on the battlefield?#Perhaps he is and has always been a scared orphan boy lost in the market.#I think there is no good answer to any of these questions.#But I do know that panic rising in WWX as he frantically looks for A-yuan was for more than one boy.#To be human is to have layers around a delicate center. #dredge game #spoilers. technically lol #my friend mim (at mimzalot on twitch etc) streamed dredge at it went the FUnniest way it couldve #two streams in we made a joke abt the collector and the fisherman being in toxic old man yaoi #divorcee-on-widower situationship together. and the joke kept up Literally Until The Very End #iykyk #could not have stumbled into a better way to keep the surprise #and The Best Thing Is. I do still think the yaoi is meaningful to the text #like mim brought up how resurrection is inherently a selfish act. I sat on that for a While #but also I do just enjoy body double. abdication of responsibility through othering a specific part of yourself #pairing that with specifically Being A Villain as like. a deliberate act #u see my vision. u ever played dredge #anyways uhhh caption is from no party for cao dong's devotion #yes its bc red candle game's devotion is like a quarter of my personality but also I do listen to no party for cao dong recreationally #also been really feelin this kind of ink recently. ok, sure, let's make the already most shallow friendship in this manga even more of a yuri bait.

#i am not surprised tho the anime doesn't really care about aoi #did you see how long/full of budget the 'hanako possesses Nene and harras Aoi' scene was? while they refused to add even a quick slide show #to inform the audience that Aoi being popular fucked up her life to the point of being harrased AS A TINY KID?#they already used her for the 'there are hands in these pictures' exposition in season 1 and her feelings has 'no use' for the main trio #so way it goes!#if empty fanservice is the goal of course it is better to leave 'the important thing she have to say!' hidden #and keep anything about 'boys want her' only jokey to make people not think about hanako's actions too hard #it makes so much sense that it makes me depressed.#if we do reach the grim reaper arc in the future i do not have much hope for how they'll treat aoi story #tbhk #toilet bound hanako kun #jshk #jibaku shounen hanako kun

One of the most bizarre feelings imo is finding out about a prejudice you didn't know existed

Like. I only recently found out that there's areas IN MY OWN COUNTRY where discrimination against Italian people is a genuine problem

I definitely know WHY I always assumed Racism was a prejudice more dependant on differences in skin colour but holy shit damn yeah okay so there's also ultraviolet racism too huh, we're all just drinking the shitty bitch water then

#I don't know why I'm surprised #And I fear I don't have the education yet to fully grasp this #But in my specific area colorism is the biggest visible aspect of our racist culture #So like #None of this stupid shit makes sense but now it makes EXTRA no sense #Like they ain't even scared cause you look different #But yeah dam n it does drive home that all this crap is politically driven huh #Like as much as fuckers pretending it's science to back up racist rhetoric about why a race is better or worse #It totally does prove that these biases are absolutely arbitrary with no grounds in reality #No heritage is fundamentally DIFFERENT when you get down to it #People is people #Why didn't we talk about this in social studies back in school it's a fascinating angle #It would really have driven it home to a room full of white kids too #We would have been blown away
