The idea of characters from other stories winding up in SVSSS has been stuck in my head for a while but I'm not gonna write abt it lmao so here's what's been rattling around in the ole noggin:

Toph:

Toph would be a genuine menace

Specifically on poor Liu Qingge, who hasn't the slightest clue how he wound up with yet another student

Earthbending should not be possible here. Earthbending is NOT possible here.

Toph invents earthbending here.

In fact, she only gets stronger. Because the cultivation aspects of the world means she's got even more qi and knows more about how to use it beyond earthbending.

She can now use qi itself to "see" (sensing others' qi, using it to sense movement, etc.) Not just earthbending

Lqg wants nothing to do with any more disciples. Especially not ones as annoying as yang yixuan

He gets a gremlin even more annoying than yang yixuan

He lies awake at night, regretting saving her life that one time on a hunt and kickstarting her path of being a Problem

Specifically, he saves her life one night while she's out trying to remaster earthbending, inspiring her to become a cultivator

She runs away from her noble family and their arranged marriage and stifling life that they've planned out for her and heads straight to Cang Qiong's Bai Zhan peak the first chance she gets

Refuses to take no for an answer, thus growing to become lqg's #1 menace

The xian shu peak gains a fearsome reputation of possibly teaching blood magic

No One gets how she does the waterbending stuff. Outsiders assume it's some Xian Shu ancient secret technique. Or she's related to Mobei Jun. Real members know Kataras just Like This.

Keeps the hair loopies. No matter what people say.

Wears a blue necklace similar to her mother's heirloom; a gift from her shizun probably

Genuinely enjoys the sisterhood on Xian Shu. It reminds her of the better days of her home, before the southern raiders came back

Zuko:

Could've chosen from several peaks, but chooses Bai Zhan

Something about the bamboo on Qing Jing reminds him of his uncle though, so he likes to visit. But not for too long. It hurts.

Isn't really bothered by the long hair thing; while cutting hair isn't forbidden in the fire nation, long hair is common practice, especially for nobles

Keeps the standard topknot until Toph calls it ugly

And then he remembers toph cannot see his topknot

Starts doing ponytails anyway

Also a star student of Bai Zhan, especially after he busts out the firebending forms

Yet another nuisance for poor lqg

He and Toph are the only two that can keep up with each other

hi! I just wanted to know (i am currently starting chapter 10 of jadeite-). Is Zhongli's human form in this new world actually human?? Like has his soul transformed Zhongli Chen's human body into something more? I wonder as I've never seen Zhongli sleep (like he'll go meditate like he did whilde Guizhong was asleep after drinking) or read to learn more (as he did when he first found himself in a new world). Also, what kind of abilities does he still have? (this mlight have been explored in the latest chapters though- amma catch up!!).

Cause currently Zhongli seems to have much more power than did Chen (like Zhongli there is more linked towards the earth and can feel footsteps and stuff but other other things remained?)

right, good question! the body is human, but the soul isn't

that's the ultra short ultra simple version bc i think the answer is kinda long so i'll just put it under the cut

basically what that means is that chen zhongli's body itself hasn't changed. it's as human as all human bodies come, with the obvious exception that he was a damn good thaumaturge. this last bit is important, because power progression in thaumaturgy (at least in the hand-wavy artistic-liberty take of this fic lmao) sort of- shifts gears at a certain level. when they start training, thaumaturges are like the average person, with their spiritual channels undeveloped. as they train, they're trying to do two things: 1st, develop those spiritual channels, and 2nd, accrue spiritual energy for their own energy pool. but spiritual channels have a limit in that you cannot infinitely develop them. they don't grow forever, they eventually cap out, so to speak, at a certain point. kinda like if you were building a waterway, and at a certain point you stop expanding it and reinforcing it, because it's now good enough to sustain any amount of water that will flow through it regardless of quantity

and so once they cap out their spiritual channels development, the rest of their core basic training revolves almost entirely around accruing more energy for their pool. the energetic pool is the one that is functionally infinite, so they can theoretically just keep gathering energy forever. this is what allows some really good thaumaturges to live longer (but not forever. this is explained in the latest chapter so you'll get there).

anyway- the reason any of this is relevant is that chen zhongli was at that point: his spiritual channels were capped out, and he was only working to gather more energy. he was in the home stretch so to speak (which is why he was sort of a prodigy given most thaumaturges don't get there until like- much later in life). so by virtue of having had a body that was essentially perpared to have infinte energy inside of it (but didn't), when zhongli got there with his soul intact and his spiritual energy pool being MASSIVE bc godhood etc; he sort of just fit right in, needing to change nothing about the body itself. all that really happened is that chen zhongli's pool of energy got suddenly filled with zhongli's energy but not really. it's- uh. complicated? idk if it would count as a spoiler bc given the latest chapter i feel like most of you can probably guess there's something going on here? anyway- just know zhongli's energy is in that body, it's just sort of... detached. since he's technically a foreign soul, his energy is sort of confined to his soul; but since his soul is in the body, it, for the most part, works exactly the same way it would if it was his own body. god idk if that makes sense- like i said, it's complicated. for those who read the latest chapter, what this means is that zhongli's energetic pool hasn't integrated with the body itself, so it hasn't turned it into a spiritual vessel (which would've happened if it had integrated itself, bc his pool is, again, massive, and therefore meets the requirements for it) anyway,

chen zhongli's soul is gone. regardless of where it actually is, zhongli is the only soul in that body – as he mentions at the start of the fic, since he's a geo being at his core, he can't exactly fit inside a body with another soul in it. kinda like... his soul is too big, so the body has to be empty for him to fit.

the reason zhongli hasn't been sleeping is because he doesn't need to. i think this was mentioned in another ask and also in one of the fic's end notes tho i can't recall which chapter; but basically, with enough spiritual energy, thaumaturges can make their bodies subsist entirely off of it. so while yes chen zhongli would've needed to sleep bc while powerful he still didn't have enough energy to bypass it; zhongli doesn't. zhongli has more than enough energy to keep the body in tiptop shape with his own energy alone. you can think of it like plugging your phone to charge. other thaumaturges don't have access to a charging chord at all times, so they have to plug in (sleep) to recharge. but zhongli works off of solar energy so he's always at full battery if that makes any sense. like he just has infinite battery, so he never needs to plug in. though i guess the analogy only makes sense if zhongli is a solar panel addon to the normal phone that is chen zhongli's body- but i think you get the idea LMAO

as for abilities that he still retains, they're all sort of tied to his nature as a dragon, like sensing intent in food. i'm pretty sure this hasn't really been properly explained outside of- since geo as an energy doesn't really exist, there are some geo abilities that he's lost (like the sensing ability). but not all of them. the issue here is that he was a being OF geo, so some 'geo' abilities are innate to him one way or the other, like commanding rocks and metals and other stuff, but not literally creating rocks. the sensing ability being lost is more a byproduct of the tectonic plates being different honestly. and obviously he's lost his ability to transform so

anyway uhhhhh TL;DR: zhongli didn't change chen zhongli's body bc the body was trained enough to sustain any amount of energy inhabiting it, so zhongli fit right in – since he's also technically still a foreign entity, his energy hasn't fully combined with the body, so he has left it intact. he doesn't sleep because his absurd amounts of energy allow him to sustain the body entirely off of them, and while he's lost some abilities tied to the other teyvat and him having had a non-human body before, he has retained some of them that were based off of his soul.

I am kinda interested, what is Sulyvahn exactly? Is he supposed to be a tree? I checked out the design of many bosses and it does seem that having tree elements in his design isn't unique as there many characters who have these elements as well (demons,humans,giants etc..) , also his wings look very similar to the wings of the "angels" we see in lothric.

I am pretty sure that with whatever turmoil the developers faced upon creating this character and deciding what he'd be, in the end they've settled for him being either a half-tree or a quarter-tree! Also look at these images:

Okay the thing about him, he was born in the Painted World, which would make him either a Tree Person or a Crow Person! He doesn't show any corvid features, and as for the wings, Tree People do have them anyways:

There is this particular Tree Woman who guards one of his youth spells, who is also heard crying before you approach her! As for why I'd mention he could be '25% tree' and not just a Tree Person, I will just quote what @val-of-the-north already said on the potential of Gilligan being his father:

As for Gilligan, it's probably to mention it as a jokey what-if lmao. People aren't ready for the truth. The gist of it though, is that in the area with that angry tree woman, there's a hidden, comically long wooden ladder that only appears when you defeat all the tree women in the area. Stupidly long ladders are the dude's staple, so the theory goes that it was Gilligan's way to come down, meet his family, and leave. Suly's mother would then hide the ladder so no one could use it. Of course, her son would one day discover the illusion and leave, dissatisfied with the Painted World, and her mother never saw him again

It's also worth pointing out that you can find Gilligan in the game itself, though he isn't exactly in a living state. He is found in the Profaned Capital surrounded by his wooden ladders. Suly has also been there as part of his rise to power so there's a second connection lol. Interestingly enough, his spell descriptions mention he "had not yet experienced loss", which might imply he did experience it in the future. It could have been losing his dad

So yeah, it might sound like a shitpost but like.. Where is the evidence against this idea? fdsjfjhds So if he had a Tree Person mother (who is 50% tree) and a human father, that'd make him 25% tree. AND it works with how as you can see from his model, he IS notably more humanoid than an average Tree Person! Nonetheless, still absurdly tall hahah

Personally, I think he doesn't have a face, either 🤔 It looks like it's not a mask, but his head and "face" is JUST like this, featureless. We were not supposed to see him 'naked' by normal means in the game, of course, but Fromsoft is notorious for putting too much effort into something only like, 3 dataminers on Earth will appreciate xd They bothered to model him this way under his clothes, so I just take it as legit! Nor I think that he somehow 'lost' his normal face later on.. though this IS a good question as to why his wings are considerably bigger than average Tree Person's ones, so I'll think about it later,

• Dazai would be best for you! That mix of crazy but relatable seems to be something you enjoy, and what no better the the freakster himself. He’s not to mean to not care though, so that’s why I gave you him!

• Dazai is very carefree, and will either mess around with you to make you forget about your troubles, or take care of things himself (usually without you knowing). He somewhat take you under his wing in a way.

• He’s also the type to tell it like it is, sharing a bit of positivity here and there. It goes nice with your realism.

•He’s also very passionate and often hyperfixates on things! Like suicide for example. He wants to do a double suicide with you lmao.

• Dazai is a curious cat, and often likes to hear the gossip. He serves absolute cunt for that. The two of you love to share tea and learn tea from others too! Honestly, it’s probably the thing that got you two connected to each other at first, if Dazai didn’t already try to flirt with you.

• Instead of really going blank like you do, Dazai’s mind is constantly running and he’ll happily bring you back down to Earth if you need it. Simple daydreams he’ll let slide if you guys aren’t on any missions or something important.

• Most of his jokes are really funny, and theirs just other times he’s funny without even realizing it. He thinks you’re too adorable to not get a chuckle out of, and sometimes he’ll break down laughing if you say something out of left field. It’s hilarious!

• Dazai used to be a really strict guy, but nowadays he’s more chilled out. You wouldn’t need to go through that strict nonsense again. If you ever bring it up with Dazai, he’ll try even harder to be more of a good person. It just reminds him that where he is now is best.

• He loves showering people in compliments, and you’re no different! He compliments anytime he gets! Though brings it back during more intimate moments.

• While he may not be able to wrap his head around your anxiety of other people too much, he just validates it as a huge difference you two have, and gladly confides in you when you need someone to speak for you.

• He can be a little tone deaf sometimes, and if you ever talk about feeling down he’ll probably mention the double suicide thing again. PLEASE dont EVER listen to him,

• In actuality, I’d say to try a hand at the bright side! You have a loving boyfriend and a loving community within the Armed Detective Agency. They’re basically your guard dogs by the way, if you aren’t already a part of their group.

• Kirishima would be best for you! Kaminari is a close second, though I figured he may be too silly for your liking.

• Now, I figure you’d be looking forward to having a villain for your match, however, you also said you wanted someone who you could relate and confide in. Almost all of the villains (except for maybe Toga) would not give a shit or understand why you need that shoulder to lean on. If any of them do care it’s most likely for a manipulative reason. I would’ve probably picked Toga if it weren’t for your preference. Hopefully that makes sense!

• You may bump heads with Kirishima from time to time, especially during times where Kirishima is way too nice. Not every relationship is perfect though, and from this he can possibly teach you to liven up sometimes, as much as you teach him to be more grounded.

• He’s a chill and lax guy, and will definitely help you calm down in any situation you need a hand on. He’s honestly the best at pep talk and lending a reassuring hand. As such, he’ll never get to exhausted will how many times you fall back down to the ground. He’ll always be there to get you back up again!

• Kirishima is also really passionate about the things he loves! He adores to hear you talk about thing, similar to Dazai. He’d be especially appreciative if you let him yap about his aspirations too!

• His humor is a lot like yours, and basically what the whole Baku Squad finds funny! Aside from Bakugou himself of course, cause just a dick. I can definitely see you being a part of their friend group though!

• Kirishima hate being super strict, but understands restrictions on some things for everyone’s safety. As long as you aren’t doing anything that will cause you or others harm, he doesn’t mention anything. What’s the bother anyway?

• Kirishima has tough skin, literally, and will become your shield metaphorically and literally. He hates seeing you cry, I breaks his heart so bad. He’d take over the world to make you happy!

• A part of me feels like Kirishima might have his own lingering depression by just how much he tries to fit himself in. Please just have his back as much as he has yours.

• In his eyes, there’s no such thing as daydreaming to much..unless you’re in literal danger but i doubt that would be the case. Daydreaming is a healthy coping mechanism. Sure it can distract from important things, but there’s worse things you could be doing. Especially during those times where you want to be occupied in your own world, Kirishima will give you space.

• The fact you get angry easily? Well, it’s not the first time he’s dealt with someone like that, heh. I’m sure you’re a lot more tame than you-know-who.

• Kirishima is a GREAT listener. I swear he picks up on everything and remembers a lot. He definitely keeps track of your needs and wants. Gifts, if you’re into that, are very thoughtful as well.

• He loves giving out hugs! Sometimes they might be very random, but hey, if you like hugs that much it shouldn’t be a problem. For him your softer body makes it even better!

• Much like Dazai, Kirishima loves to be out and about doing stuff, whatever gets the blood going! Unlike Dazai though, he only goes out when he has the free time. If he has work to do, he’ll most likely postpone his time with you. It’s worth the wait though, because you guys end up having a wonderful time together!

I just read a very funny fic 'Much ado about nothing' by Fire_lily and Violet_20 on AO3 and I was wondering... how do you think Sanji (and by the other guys) would behave when the girls are on their periods?

Okay, yeah, it was really funny. I often think about this, honestly, ngl. And you know how much I tend to write because I'm a menace to society, so I'll try to keep it brief. Btw, assume all the guys here are cis men (which hurts, because I'd rather die than say Usopp, Luffy and Zoro have dicks. But okay. Let's say they do) and that Nami is the only one in her period (because I think Robin is trans and also she has been dealing with pain so much on her own that even if she had her period, the crew wouldn't even notice. Nami, Franky, Jinbe, and Brook would be the only ones knowing).

Chopper is the one explaining what a period is, by the way, because these idiots know the basics but not much and I think they could use some health classes? Like, seriously, it'd be nice.

Luffy: Doesn't understand what the fuck is a period (Makino explained it. His ass didn't listen). If Nami is bleeding, can't Chopper cure her? Oh, he can't? Is she sick? Is she going to die? No? She's fine, then? But she needs them to give her a break because even if she isn't sick, she's still not going through the best time. It's uncomfortable and she feels bad and sensitive. I think Luffy would have a lot of questions and he would ask shamelessly about them. And he would also try to be considerate and share his food with Nami and cause less trouble. I know he's chaotic but he's always really nice when a crewmate is in pain, and if Nami (his navigator. His Nami!!!) is feeling bad, he'll do whatever he can to help her. If she has cramps he'll probably stay beside her and sleep with her and cuddle. He's actually worried sick even if she tells him she's fine.

Zoro: He doesn't really give a fuck. Kuina explained what periods were to him and how unfair it was and he agreed. It is unfair. It is fucked up. They shouldn't go through that. He respects Nami a lot for being able to work and yell and live normally while she's bleeding and cramping (I mean, that's HIS normal state, but Nami isn't like him). So he just supports her from a distance and if she needs anything he'll just try to help and that's it. He's like?? He's normal about it. Just a thing the body does. Everyone thinks it's such a big deal, but it's not.

Usopp: He grew up with Kaya. I don't need to say anything else. He's always complaining about Nami being louder than usual or oversensitive and saying that she doesn't need to blame them for being in pain, but he only says it because they're best friends, lmao. "Girl, I know you're in pain but it's not my fault. Chill. Do you want a chocolate bar?" and he's pretty much the only one allowed to keep her company when she's stressed and too angry to deal with the others. Bestie privileges. He knows how to make her happy. The perks of having a childhood sweetheart and taking care of her when she was on her period (she was just emotional, though, not like Nami who is a ticking time bomb depending on the month). He always has pads, pills, and distractions ready for Nami. He's just there and normal about it and helping her out.

Sanji: Fucking dramatic. I can't stand him. I'm gonna throw bricks at him. I love him, but he's either the most respectful gentleman on earth or the weirdest guy ever about this. He's probably both at the same time. He's SO annoying, oh my god. He keeps wanting to do everything for Nami, and okay, the food, tea, and extra snacks are fine. But it's just too much. He's the one crying all the time like "WHY DID GOD CURSE OUR MELLORINES WITH SUCH PAIN?????????? OH NAMI-SWAN IF I COULD TAKE YOUR SUFFERING I WOULD!!!!!! YOU ARE SO BRAVE FOR THIS!!!!!" and Usopp is the one actually throwing stuff at him and kicking him out of the girl's room when he comes to bring some snacks and won't shut up. He's,, Overly helpful. He has good intentions, really, but Nami is just on her period. She can still move and do her own things, thank you very much. I think he learns to be more normal about it with time, though. And he's just this way with Nami, probably (I say this bc I'm writing a Sanuso fic with Trans Usopp on his period and I swear Sanji is normal about it).

Chopper: I mean. It's the doctor. He keeps an eye on Nami and takes care of her. He's gentle and always tries to bring her painkillers if it's too much. Reminds her to drink a lot of water and eat properly but never too much because she could get sick! He's the cutest, gentlest thing ever.

Franky: Another dramatic man. He's just like Sanji, except that instead of crying because Nami has to go through this, he keeps saying she's SUPEERRRRR COOL AND STRONG FOR DEALING WITH THIS. But it's only for a few seconds and then he's just acting like a dad. Which includes helping if needed but then asking the weirdest questions to see if Nami is alright.

Brook: He would be the sweetest thing ever. But also, we gotta admit that he's still a perv and would ask to see Nami's underwear anyway. But leaving that aside, yeah, he's sweet. He offers tea and gentle music while she works and tries to be a gentleman. He makes a few jokes here and there, Nami hits him, the usual stuff. But he's a sweet grandpa so he's just there being nice. But, y'know, Brook is always nice to be around. He just offers his help more and often asks Nami if she's feeling okay.

Jinbe: He doesn't quite understand what he's supposed to do, but he just doesn't get in Nami's way if she's mad, and if she's sensitive he'll try to make the crew shut up for a while. Gentle older man. He always tries to make peace around the place, but pretty much like Brook and he also tries not to overstep. He asks Zoro if he should be doing something, and Zoro just shrugs and says to let Nami do her own thing.

Good Omens Theories - I wrote this instead of sleeping, excuse my rambling

The Metatron and Crowley have ISSUES together, personally as a headcanon and not a theory, i think it was most likely that Metatron was the one that damned all the demons into, well, damnation. what i mean is that he was there and all that.

35:32 - as someone previously pointed out, he changed his speech to appear more like aziraphales.

aziraphale is sure of what he wants (to stay out of heaven and stay on earth) and through out the ep that changes quickly. suspicious.

as someone else pointed out, he changed his description of the almond syrup in the coffee. After further research, i found almonds symbolizes the purity of the Virgin and the birth of jesus in Christianity. Which might mean, that what the tumblr posts are saying is true and he maybe coming in s3. Some depictions of divine favor and approval, and divine guiding were also shown but appeared less often than the first. That "I should jolly well hope so" comment from Metatron does add some suspicion to the coffee as well. In another context, an almond (although its the tree here not the fruit) is also a shown as a message of god watching.

Final Theories

The Metatron is somehow controlling/affecting aziraphales actions and aziraphales fighting it.

theory number two is the most obvious theory, and the one where every single observation points towards it. Aziraphale GENUINELY thinks he can outsmart the Metatron by being in heaven and fixing it from the inside, for whatever reason (probably because he thinks his days are numbered if he stays on earth, it took only a few years for heaven to bother them again and the result was that he was almost erased from EXISTENCE) he wants to be up there in heaven not because he WANTS too but because he has too. through out the final 15 i think he was trying to signal to crowley his plan and Crowley didn't know he WAS throwing any signals. dude was genuinely confused af when crowley started confessing. The miscommunication tag is at it again folks.

College! Adam Warlock x Reader

Plot: You have a much needed heart-to-heart conversation with Adam on the woes of life.

Genre: PG-13

A/N: Totally did not write this at the service desk (lmao). Yet again, based on experience. Thought about who might be the best current character that I have written to write this and a college Adam came to mind? Anyways, hope you enjoy!

“Hey!” Adam waves at me from afar. He certainly looks the part of a college student. I close the latest book that I’m currently engrossed with, smiling at his enthusiasm despite going through back-to-back three hour classes.

“Classes went well?”

“Oh yes,” he responds excitedly and proceeds to share about his classes on Introduction to History and Ancient Civilization. “Humans are most interesting. Imagine getting by with the lack of technology back then!”

“You are probably the only one whose so excited about classes.” I tease. “I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself on Earth.”

We lounge under the big tree that provided us with a cool breeze. Other students seemed to have the same idea as you as they lazily chomped on food while enjoying the serenity of the lake on a weekday afternoon. You retrieved two boxes of pepperoni pizza from your bag and pass one to Adam who does not hesitate to sink into the pepperoni with relish. “Mmmh…” Adam swallows a bite of the pizza, earning a giggle from me. “This is delicious.”

“You mean you’ve never had it before?”

Adam shakes his head. “Nope. Mother wanted me to be perfect. I was strictly monitored over everything the moment I was born.” He says it with such nonchalance that I almost miss a hint of bitterness in his tone. “But that’s okay,” Adam sees my expression. “I met Quill, Rocket and everyone else. They showed me what I was missing and I’ve caught up. Mostly.” He adds proudly.

I nod, mulling over his words. “How did you feel though? The need to be perfect and meet everyone’s expectations.”

Adam frowns, giving a thoughtful sigh. “I’ve never really thought about it actually. I thought it was… normal. Working and striving to be the best. But I felt that it wasn’t what I wanted.” He tears another chunk of pizza. “I wanted to do what I truly wanted, to be happy. I remember when I was younger, I tagged along with Mother to visit one of the Alien colonies. I ran off to explore the city on my own even though Mother told me not to. But I knew I could and I wanted too. Although I was punished rather harshly, I felt a sense of joy and elation. Do humans feel this way too?”

“They do. I do.” I bring my knees to my chest, watching a pair of students jog past us. Adam looks at me inquisitively. “I never really elaborated to you why I’m working at the student library, right?”

Adam nods, waiting for me patiently.

“I was working at a Community Resource Centre. I was so excited because it was basically what I was working towards for almost a decade. To your people, it may feel like a second but to me, it was everything. I started work and needless to say, I was in for a very rude shock.” I laugh at the memories that was enough to create my own horror film. “It got so bad that I had to take a step back and reevaluate everything that I’ve done. It came to a point where I even questioned myself that I was doing things simply because I felt the need to conform and to live up to the expectations.”

I notice that Adam hasn’t said a single word as I share my story. “I’m sorry, I know I must be such a downer. I try not to repeat myself even with my family or friends. They’ve a lot on their plates and this is simply just a minor setback in my life.”

“Don’t say that.” Adam admonishes. “You’ve experienced something bad and you shouldn’t make it any less. I’m sorry that you went through this and you should have gotten better.”

It wasn’t sympathy but Adam’s words felt like a much needed warm embrace. “Thanks. It’s hard to share my experiences when people would just tell you to ‘suck it up’ or ‘that’s life’. I don’t want to make this sound like a pity party but sharing does make me accept that this happened to me.”

“I agree. It was how I got by with the loss of Mother and the rest of my community. Everything I knew, blown into bits. I was the last one remaining and that pressure to carry the name of my people got even stronger, until Rocket told me to let it all go because at the end of the day, we’re just living for ourselves.”

“Living for ourselves…” I let it roll off my tongue. “I like it.”

As we finish the rest of our lunch, the azure skies gave the campus a homely feeling.

“Thanks. For the conversation. I needed that.” I say as we walked back to the campus.

“Happy to be a good listening ear.” Adam grins. “To being imperfect!”

I laugh at his sudden exclamation that results in stares from a couple of students and faculty alike.

“To being imperfect.”

what are yours unpopular opinions about your ships and maybe leon from the remake ? you mentioned that twitter side is wild so i got curious., i hope the question is alright?

By Twitter being wild I mostly meant people being real nasty to each other over very small things, haha! But I have tons of thoughts on many ships, so I'll gladly babble away. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to do so, anon >:) Gonna preface this by saying that just because I'm talking about a ship in a 'negative' manner (like pointing out what kind of issues the characters would deal with) does not mean I'm calling it 'bad'. I like conflicts in relationships and I like thinking about how these conflicts would contribute to the development at large. It's my way of saying 'I enjoy this dynamic and I'm going to explore it!'

With that out of the way, Imma go ahead and do them all just for the fun of it:

Eagleone: my unpopular opinion for this one is that Ashley is actually the more bold one in the relationship! In fact, she's usually the one who takes the lead on... pretty much everything. She has that reckless spunk in her that Leon both loves and dreads, depending on the situation. Another one is that I personally don't see Ashley being all that burdened by what happened in Spain. She's just fine bringing it up and even joking about it with him. It's a shared experience that brought them together, and I don't see her looking back at it as a negative thing. Also, Leon is the homemaker between these two. Ashley likes to go out, have fun and do her thing. Malewife Leon for the win.

Vallenfield: actually not sure if this is an unpopular opinion per se, but I don't really view Chris as this oblivious idiot that doesn't realize Jill's feelings or anything. And I subsequently don't see Jill pining for him much either. Their relationship is very natural in how it changes overtime due to their trust in each other. It's more of a slow, mutual understanding of: 'Oh. Things feel different now. But also sort of the same. Let's roll with that'. They are a very down to earth couple.

Aeon: Ada is not a mom. I'm sorry. She's just not. She's a deadbeat dad. At best. That woman is horrible with kids, stop making her a soft housewive, I beg of you. She'll leave for milk and never come back. LMAO On a more serious note, though, I see Ada as someone who has big issues with being vulnerable and communication at large. That makes any close relationship very difficult for her to maintain. She's having fun and flirting until things get emotional, and she instantly pulls away. It's not even because she's cold and unfeeling. A part of her, a human part of her we all have, longs to be understood and embraced as she is. But she just can't bring herself to be this vulnerable. Leon is not an exception to that.

Chrisker: Funnily enough, when I think of Chrisker, I moreso focus on Chris' feelings towards Wesker than vise versa. Poking fun at Wesker's obsession over Chris is entertaining, but there's just something so appealing to me in the angst of feeling so betrayed by someone you thought you knew and admired. Sprinkle in some unspoken romantic tension that was genuine but never got resolved, and you got a perfect cake of sadness. They are my 'doomed by the narrative' couple.

Serennedy: I don’t think I have any actually unpopular opinions with this one, but I like to think that Leon tends to hold back on the puns and quips when he's near Luis. That's because he knows he's a damn hypocrite for always huffing and grumbling at Luis' jokes, while he basically does the very same thing himself lol. He still slips up though, and Luis doesn't let him live it down. On a sadder note, I like to think of Leon taking Luis' lighter, much like he takes Marvin's and Krauser's knives to remember them. He doesn't smoke, of course, but he still keeps it on him.

Clairejill: Again, not sure if this is an unpopular opinion per se, but I don't think they'd be this cool, badass couple or anything. I actually think they'd have a relatively soft and quiet relationship instead, built on mutual understanding of each other's experiences and a desire to be one another's rock. Jill is there when Claire feels like she's not doing enough, and Claire is there when Jill feels overwhelmed by guilt and regrets. They're also very supportive girlfriends. I love them.

Cleon: Hmm... I guess my unpopular opinion is that I see it as a very rocky relationship. Not because either party does not care for the other. Moreso because of the growing differences between them that take place over the years due to their occupations. I like to think of them having to face these challenges. Maybe not in the most graceful manner, but they do pull through in the end. I like my Cleon a bit complicated and emotional.

Metaltango: my unpopular opinion on it is that I don't think Krauser was this violent and cruel asshole to Leon during his training. I actually think of them forming a very genuine and close bond, one where Leon trusted and relied on Krauser to the point of sharing some very personal things with him. And I also think Krauser showed genuine tenderness and care for Leon in turn. He trained him so that he would never have to be hurt like that again, so that he could become strong enough to protect those he wants to protect. Makes it that much more tragic to see him mocking Leon for it later.

Shake: no idea if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but Jake sucks ass at flirting. He's abhorrent at it. Sherry is the charmer between these two. She gets all cheeky about it too. Watch this tough, scary man blush like a school girl because his girlfriend just complimented him on his new jacket. No one is allowed to tease him about but Sherry, of course. He has a death stare that could kill.

Chreon: These two would have issues with communication. Well, to be more precise, it's a somewhat complicated situation where they both remind each other a bit too much of their own pain and past mistakes, if that makes sense. They understand each other's burdens more than anyone else will, but it's also... hard seeing your own worst moments be reflected in the one you love. They both would find themselves getting a bit frustrated and saying something insensitive sometimes. Specifically because they project their own issues onto each other. It's like metaphorically grabbing your old self by the shoulders and shaking them. I like to play around with this duality with these two.

Valeveira: I actually think Jill secretly enjoys Carlos being unserious with her but she's just too proud to say it. Especially if we're talking post!re3 events, where she knows he is a good guy and has trust in him. She'll also steal some of his quips and use them during her own adventures.

Mithan: No idea if this is an unpopular take or not, but I headcanon that one of the biggest reasons Rose seems to be so distant from Mia in her dlc is that she looks so much like her father. I see Mia being absolutely wracked with guilt after losing Ethan like that. Potentially even forming a sense of resentment towards Rose, which just makes her blame and hate herself even further for these feelings she can't control. She feels like a horrible mother that is just going to hurt Rose one day, too. It's sad, really. Mia also leaves most of Ethan's belongings to Rose and Chris, because she feels like she doesn't 'deserve' to have him near her after what she did. Mithan is my go-to for exploring grief and loss.

As for my unpopular opinion on remake-verse Leon... People baby rookie Leon a bit too much in my opinion. He's not nearly as naive and innocent as some paint him as, and he actually has lots of depth and nuance that, unfortunately, gets forgotten or overlooked. I understand the appeal of this wide-eyed cute guy and all, but I do wish he would be given a bit more agency and maturity in the fandom.

Rookie Leon is my favorite iteration of him along with Death Island Leon, can u tell I'm sorta passionate about him lmao

what do i look for? primarily, kon having an actual character voice. that's the lowest bar to clear (and yet already takes out... a good chunk of the fics ive seen in the kon character tag 😭😭). he needs to be silly, geeky, deeply kind, earnest, etc. not every fic featuring him will necessarily get into the way he's also existentially lonely and has a Lot of sadness and self-esteem issues (esp after rex leech's roller coaster incident. this has been on my mind today. ough. his self-image never recovered after that one!) but by GOD does he have his issues, so if its a fic going into emotions i want it to do right by his. will def admit thats smth im incredibly picky about.

as for stuff i want him doing? honestly i am here for so much!! i want soft simple character studies. i want action showcasing how fucking powerful ttk can be, especially with a dose of creativity to its use. i want wacky yj space adventures. i want good good whump and hurt/comfort. i want him getting swept off his feet. you could sell me on almost any plot if it's well-written.

re: characteristics... i don't really split them up quite like that, i think! he's a well-rounded character, and that includes both strengths and flaws. ideally, a good fic will include both of these and represent them fairly (like, he's not perfect by any means, and he can do stupid things and struggle with personal issues, but on the other hand very few things tick me off more than portrayals where he's just completely incompetent and dumb as a rock, lmao).

BUT REGARDING MY OWN WRITING. ohhohoohoohooho three things i ALWAYS have to include? a) geek-ass loser (affectionate). i think it is SO endearing and also very humanizing as a quality that he's a trekkie/wendy fan/star wars nerd/etc. b) mixed-race metaphors. they may not be overt depending on the piece but the "child of two worlds that doesn't quite fit into either" thing is Deeply intentional. and c) HES A JUGGERNAUT!!!! i firmly believe adult fully realized kon (a kryptonian, with full kryptonian powers, WITH TTK) is a force of fucking nature. i like this so much and i specifically also always like it when he is at any given moment about 0.4 seconds from freaking the fuck out about how it's Too much strength.

to me, kon is a character made of some very delicious contradictions. he's so painfully human and yet grapples hard with his own personhood and humanity. he's a kryptonian and an alien but he's a child of earth. he's terrified of his own power. he wants nothing more than to protect everyone he loves (and everyone he doesn't love, too). he's always ready to crack a joke or make a silly reference, but he is deeply sad and spent so much of his early life suicidal. he contains multitudes. (and this isn't even getting into my hcs on his gender/sexuality crisis! ksjdhf)

i feel like a gripe i often find myself having when looking for kon fics is that he often gets slotted into the role of "emotional support boyfriend with no personality or role of his own" though, which i guess is why "does he have a distinct character voice?" is my first litmus test for whether i'd want to keep reading or not.

a good kon fic will embrace all his contradictions, i think. (a good fic for any character, really, should show them as well-rounded and three-dimensional.) and i for one love his Problems and Issues, bc man, it's a very fun space to play in! <3

Interesting that Tee claims Non as his friend when we know damn well that was never true. But he does seem to mean it, pleading for Non's life and physical safety.

Non's so right to be confused. Tee is just...really surprisingly naive. "i didn't bring you here to die! Uncle said he'd help you find the money!" dumbass what on earth did you think your mafia uncle was gonna do to get the money??? considering he already extorts his underage nephew??? you've been involved in mafia shit for a while it seems like, and you still didn't realize?????

This dramatic confrontation really does make me want TeeNon though. You were the one supposed to be helping me! Why me? Is everything I do so awful? This is all your fault!

So Perth's unnamed character is weird. He's clearly important and isn't a fan of working of the mafia. Is he a prostitute/forced into sex work? the way he was rubbing uncle joe's shoulders that one time, the way he's Doing Customer Service in the casino. The way he tells Tee not to question his work ethic. I just get that vibe. I did laugh when Perth called Tee out for giving Non special treatment and liking Non. I just said the TeeNon vibes were real and now i am validated. thank you Perth.

"I think I'd choose myself. Would you?" that's exactly what Tee did when he got Non involved in the first place, he put his/his family's health and safety above Non's. I'm not say Tee was wrong to look out for his sick family member but there must have been a way that didn't involve dragging highschoolers into the mafia. and Tee regrets it! He's trying to make up for it! so no, at this point I don't think Tee would choose himself, necessarily. He might! But it's less likely than it was.

Interesting that Top is the one to say he thinks Non will come back to school when Top was the one most convinced that Non's ghost was haunting them.

Whoa hi! Thanks for the ask! I almost fell into a rabbit hole of orbital obliquity. I realized the possibilities might very well be endless.

To answer your questions...I don't have answers to your questions yet. Before I got this ask, I was pondering the potential topic of this week's Worldbuilding Wednesday, so this will be a good base point to workshop from. I think it's best if I try to work backwards to figure out this one.

A few potentially relevant things I've roughly established to be "canon" as of now:

the Cerian people are more heat tolerant than cold tolerant in general due to the intensity of their star (though I wonder if it might be better to position them as near-extremophile as a whole...I'll put a pin in this)

intensely omnivorous, enabling the species to nourish themselves on the widest variety of food sources

humanlike in external appearance

As for seasons, the possibilities I see are:

no seasons

regular seasons, Earthlike

regular seasons, milder than Earth

regular seasons, more extreme than Earth

same as above but irregular seasons

Laying it all out like this, I'm thinking maybe it would make sense for the seasons to be both irregular and more extreme than Earth. (I'm going to rubberduck here.) This would mean hotter summers, colder winters, and I think more volatile "springs" and "autumns" that are characterized by rapid changes in weather patterns.

I think this would result in a species that's already highly pattern-sensitive. By "irregular" I don't mean random, I just mean that their cycle doesn't necessarily align with the planetary year and they may not be symmetrical. The irregularities would come from different gravitational influences on the planet, which I'm saying lacks a stabilizing moon. I imagine Altimera as rather large, so actually has multiple, rather substantial moons whose gravitational influence varies based on position, causing the irregularities.

So quite frankly the life forms on the planet, sentient or not, would have some impressive internal senses of physics, and the Cerians would have very complex systems of mathematics. I think this also means that Cerian astrology must go fucking nuts lmao.

So I've made up all this bullshit on the spot. How does this affect the cultural conception of seasonality and how they relate to it and how they communicate time? And does the planet experience things analogous to ice ages and interglacials?

Well, first seasons would be conceptually decoupled from the time of year, in contrast to our view of seasons. Tbqh I think the species would be highly aware of astronomical position even early on in their development. Seasons would be viewed in terms of their effects alone, so I'm going to say there are three conceptual "seasons" which are cold, hot, and shifting. First two are exactly what they say on the tin. Last one is characterized by weather unpredictability, probably a shitload of resultant natural disasters, until eventually the new season locks in. Needless to say, equinoxes and solstices are NOT a thing here. At some point I'll need to come up with some nice punchy names for those three seasons, but at least I know what they are.

Another thing this makes me think, and honestly I'd considered it before, what if this means that the Cerians are a nomadic/migratory species? (I need to figure out which of those is the better term.) As they enter a transition season, it signals them to move to the upcoming season's temperate zone, where they're neither frozen nor sunblasted.

Tbh I've talked quite a bit and this took almost an hour of thinking and typing so I'll stop at this rather inconclusive point, but before I go, I will say this: the choice of irregularity wasn't just because of "*shrug* it sounds cool" even though it does, but also because I think it motivates the Cerian's intense association with and attention to time. If a lot of your survival is built on being able to anticipate change, you'll become very intense about the tracking of it, and isn't that what time is all about.

Live blogging Act 19!!!!

And finally... can't believe it's been over 9 months since I last liveblogged rewatching PGSM. How did this happen???

We start Act 19 liveblog with a relatively long and ominous Dark Kingdom scene that I totally forgot had happened.

Act 19 and 20 is a very romance heavy episodes for UsaMamo, which as a Reinako shipper these aren't episodes that I put much focus on when making fanart and gifs, so I'm actually quite hazy on the details.

Huh, I absolutely forgot this whole "door of darkness" deal, that Metalia is actually kept hidden in a deeper chamber. I have always wondered though, how in the hell are all the villains in the Sailor Moon universe some kind of "Queen"? Like what the fuck are they seriously the Queen of - who are their subjects?? Because even with Nehelenia there's barely a "kingdom" that we've seen her to have ruled??????

Queen Beryl is a self-styled Queen of Earth, but what was "Queen" Metalia supposed to be the queen of? Another ancient civilization of the Earth before even Elysion??? The Dark Kingdom and Black Moon arcs are the most "political" and possibly "realistic" plot in Sailor Moon. After that, all villains that show up are, of course, still scary and evil, but they call themselves Queen of... nothing but ambiguity!

For once it's great to see Jadeite and Nephrite getting along well, and both being praised by Beryl. The sibling in-fighting is entertaining, but getting old. lol

JFC Kunzite and Beryl's scenes are always so intense, that they just keep tiptoeing and testing each other out.

The subtitles here are sadly misleading, as if treating the dialogue as those two are just buttheading, when in fact they are subtlety discussing the past life. Specifically, Kunzite's playing coy while hiding the fact of how much of the past life he remembers, and Beryl trying to discern how much control he actually does have over Kunzite, or if Kunzite's fully Metalia's pawn, or something else.

What Kunzite said about the Princess "disappearing" is also very interesting. If I'm not wrong, I think this is the first mention and hint we get of what actually happened in the past life in the live-action universe. It's hard to capture the full nuance in translation, but the dialogue delivery of Kunzite line mentioning "disappearance" in the Japanese was actually without a specific subject or object. A direct translation would mean "disappearance will probably happen... again". The vagueness could mean "the princess" or... "the world".

Like WOW! That's why Beryl was shocked and questioned Kunzite about his memories.

The screenwriting is just absolutely phenomenal, the foreshadowing of what will be revealed in act 37... can't believe we start getting a hint of it in Act 19.

This shot really puts into perspective how big spatially the dark kingdom and this inner chamber is. And this is all seemingly underground, like how far down are they below surface????
