One sad thought that just keeps getting back into my head is a mix of the events of Superman and Shazam vs Black Adam and the one JLU episode with Captain Marvel
There’s just this idea of Billy meeting Clark Kent before Captain Marvel meets Superman, Clark telling Billy he’s a great kid and the conversation they had about choosing to be good and then Superman fully fighting Marvel because of his paranoia with Lex.
I always imagine that things aligned that Superman didn’t know until after the incident, realizing only after he pushed Marvel to leave the League with his behavior that he destroyed not just a kids trust and belief in heroes but that it was a kid he knows whose morals he encouraged.
I feel like it’s a good idea to flesh out some more in writing, I love all the impacts people learning Marvel is a kid who looked up to them can have on them learning it outside the “I talked to a kid about (insert adult topic here) many times” jokes
#that episode and brave and the bold was my intro to Captain Marvel#supes was acting like a real jerk then#but I’m pretty sure that was part of the whole point of heroes not being infallible#just thinking about how much that would hurt tho#your hero saying you’re right to look for the good everywhere and be good one day#just to literally fist fight you and smash you through buildings when that good goes against them#just adding that extra gut punch to (you guys don’t act like heroes anymore) line when he left#lex may have been doing some devious shit but Billy was in the right morally#while Superman was right about Lex and the generator under the town being a bomb#but all people knew at the end was the Lex told the truth and supes over reacted#///////#shazam#billy batson#captain marvel dc#superman#jlu#dc captain marvel#dc#justice league

⋆⭒˚。⋆ SHE'S BACK!
GUESS HE COULDN'T KEEP IT IN, SO HE HAD TO KEEP IT INSIDE! ₊˚⊹♡ dilf!gojo satoru x teacher!reader
tags: smut, unprotected sex, breeding kink, exhibitionism, getting caught, he fucks you while he's on the phone, overstimulation, dumbfication, fluff, gojo has an ex-wife, yuuji is gojo's son, age-gap.
A/N: well, this was surely and adventure and maybe self-indulgent title because guess what?, i'm back baby.
It was a nice morning, he felt clean. Like his life was finally steadying. Even after some stressful weeks trying to get rid of his now ex-wife, he won the trial and kept Yuuji. Poor little boy, just turning 5 years old and he’s already facing all this type of stress. But thankfully he will not be experiencing enduring his crazy mother behavior. Which basically was a gold digger, and a bitch– Not that he would ever say that outloud, maybe with other words? Bastard? Witch? Not that it really matters right now.
He could finally take a break now, just focusing on raising his little boy, and being an old boring 31 year old dad. Life doesn’t sound that bad.
“Daddy! Daddy!,” His son went running to his arms, almost stumbling by himself- clear happiness shown on his face. Quickly, Gojo opened his arms ready to lift the young kid. “Miss Y/N congratulated me on my homework! She was pretty amazed!”
Your name wasn’t unknown to him, Yuuji was very open when talking about his favorite teacher, even though he hasn’t seen you yet- from what he’s been told you’re the kid’s favorite, including Yuuji’s. “I had to talk about who’s my hero, and I chose you!” If this day wasn’t going great, it was now. Because his son's comment just made his whole week, life even.
“Oh look dad!” The little boy pointed towards your moving frame, each time getting clñoser towards them. “Daddy, this is Miss Y/N!” Yuuji kept presenting the both of you. He was really excited to present his two favorite persons to each other- but all Gojo could think of what’s how young and beautiful you looked. He expected someone older, maybe even an old lady with wrinkles and that loving grandma vibes, but what he saw made his heart beat in a way he never thought he would feel ever more.
“Daddy? Are you paying attention?” The little boy gained Gojo’s attention back, face now looking at him again. “I’m sorry kiddo, kinda just zoned out there. What did you just say?”
“Uhh, what was it? Oh! Did I tell you Miss Y/N told me you were a very handsome man?”
“Yuuji!” His gaze moved towards your blushed face, a hand covering part of your face. “I’m so sorry Mr.Gojo, I didn’t intend to say-”
Gojo cut you off before you could continue apologizing “It’s okay, I also think Ms.Y/N is a very beautiful woman.”
Uh, well. So this is how kinda you found yourself in this situation right now.
You swear it wasn’t your intention! You really tried, you really did, but how could someone say no to Mr.Gojo? And mostly because he really showed his attraction towards you. Sending Yuuji with a rose for you every day, and the little boy was rooting for his dad, because dear god- he did not shut up about him, and how happy he would be with a new girlfriend and maybe one he could call ‘mommy’ and give him a sister.
That made you blush.
Not only because the little boy commented on it, and was agreeing- but because it was his dad’s idea.
“You’re so wet, s-shit.” Loud thrusts filled the room, he was fucking you raw on his sofa– waiting for Yuuji’s mom to bring him back, the little boy was eager to come back and ‘see Ms.Y/N and his daddy finally starting to fall in love’
Kids being kids. But, he was right- the both of you were falling in love with eachother.
Gojo throws back his head, immersed in the warmth radiating off your walls and he lets your moans take him to another world. In a haste decision, he slips your dress over your head before tossing it. He mouths at your tits, plump and stiff between his lips, and he hurdles a deeper round of thrusts inside you.
When you get a little too loud, his hand comes over to clamp your mouth, wolf like eyes staring back at you, “Shut it. You don’t deserve to speak.”
His thin white tee that stays a barrier between you and him does not hide the rippling body underneath that seemed to be sculpted by gods. He presses into you, grunting, using you like his personal sex doll and you embrace it, thrive from it, come to it. Your hips contract, slewing in perfect circles, before having your legs fall gradually lifeless as you arousal drip down your thighs.
“Ffffucckkk- oh baby, would you like that? Be full of me and my baby? Make me a daddy again?”
“yesyesyesyes, make me yours Mr.Gojo-”
He pays your climax no mind,a smirk clearly showing on his face while he fucks you on his sofa- You could muffle your screams of pleasure easier here. Turning your head back to face him, you notice now he’s shirtless–taut and shiny from sweat like a large set of Hawaiian rolls–before seeing how quick he is to fit back inside you.
“Good girl.” His husky voice resonates and pushes you back into the sheets. “Good girls get rewards, don’t they?” Your poor fucked up mind couldn’t think clearly now. The way your abused and overstimulated pussy was still taking his rock hard cock gratefully inside you was making every feel giddy. A sudden noise bringing back a little part of your senses, Gojo clearly grunting grabbed his what you suppose phone, and answered. Not bothering to stop his thrusts.
“Yeah?,” His voice sounded almost like a whisper because of how breathy it was. “Gojo? I’m almost at your house- Yuuji wanted some ice-cream and bought some for you and… your new girlfriend?” His chuckle interrupted his ex-wife’s conversation, accompanied with a whimper at the feeling of you clenching on him- overstimulation clearly bringing you back to climax soon again.
A slap was heard from his part of the line, an unbelievable laugh coming from his ex-wife line, clearly noticing what was going on and then she finally heard you moan. You couldn’t keep it in anymore, and you were too fucked out to feel embarrased about it right now.
“Finish before I leave Yuuji- Enjoy yourself.” Gojo was so lost in pleasure that he didn’t even realize she hung up before he even processed what happened.
His grunts and sounds of skins slapping are all you hear as he pounds you back into the sofa. It feels like heaven beneath his weight. You were feeling flushed to the touch, but making contact with his skin was like an inferno. He was the embodiment of heat and as suffocating as that could’ve been, it melts you like it’s how it always should’ve been.
His pace eventually falters, followed by a hushed “fuck,” and he empties out into your used hole. The moment he pulled out, a knock was heard.
“Shit. Can you walk?”

Transformers One x reader: Awakening Chapter One
Chapter 1: No Matter What
Chapter Two, Chapter Three, Chapter Four, Chapter Five, Chapter Six
Transformers One x Cybertronian!GN!Reader
Following the Reader go on the large adventure of our heroes create their own path.
Trigger Warning: 16+(?), Some harassment, bit of assault not too sexual, Long aft chapter, we don’t meet B yet :(. So far that’s all.
(In this story the reader is Cybertronian and gender neutral. Going by they/them but you can imagine it’s your preferred pronouns if you wish. Be sure to not harass and bully anyone in the comments. Everyone is free to make their own opinion. The story will sort of be yandere-ish because that’s just fun if I’m being honest. Nothing too sexual but I’ll put it up for 16+. The characters to the reader are super affectionate as the reader is a little affectionate at times being a little more collected. The reader is cogless in the story and like I said the story is a little yandere-ish which means EVERYONE WANTS THE READER HAHAHAHAHA! At the end there will be a two parter. My plan with either the reader goes to join D-16 or OP and elite and Bee. lol making the three have to share you still but D would get the reader all to himself after leaving lmao. But for the ending with the three there will be secret 3 parts of the reader choosing them and becoming a couple at the end. Also no the reader isn’t being a ho. They're just really nice and slowly grow feelings. You can decide who they grow feelings for and who they grow to respect and care for more as a friend. I’m just having some fun at this point lol. I plan to release
6 chapters every Tuesday and yes they will be long so sorry if any of you don’t like long chapters.
The Reader. I want them to be pretty tall and their alt mode is going to be a helicopter. So think much of them like Drift from TF4 and they use swords as well. Compared to Orion and D they’re as tall as like that seen where it’s D and sentinel. They be the same height as D and D and Orion are the size of sentinel. Hope that makes sense. So they’re that same height with and before getting a cog. Their armor color is up to you like their gender as well as which ending you choose for them. You a B simp there is an ending for him like the others you simps lol.
I hope you all enjoy and will love the support as I keep continuing to write this series fiction. Well my first fiction planning to write more after it being transformers or other franchises….ok enjoy Imma go to bed)
The story begins on the planet Cybertron. A planet that’s a whole world of transformation. The story carries through the underground of the planet with buildings of a large city. Tall buildings hanging upside down over the city that stands up.
The story would go to the ground where the miners section, as other Cybertronians were chatting before going to work. A certain bot would walk through the halls and past others greeting them with a warm smile as they make their way to a certain gray bot who was admiring some of his stickers of his biggest idol. The bot would put their hands behind their back as they sneakily come up behind D-16 and whisper, making him jump a bit.
”So?-“ Soon on reflex D turns around and swings a punch at them being started. Y/N easily catches his fist with a soft smile and continues their question.
“How’s the collection coming along D?” They say with a little grin. Still holding his fist.
”Oh! Y/N! Sorry, I kinda just zoned out- Ya- ya know.”
“Oh I’m aware. I admire it too when I pass by you know.”
”Oh yeah- I-I mean, really? I wouldn’t have them if Orion didn’t go out most times. Just wish it didn’t have me saving his aft all the damn time before though.”
”You and I both D. But what can we do?” They say as they put their hand on the side of his shoulder and look at the collection admiring them. D glancing at them for a short moment.
”Beat him?” He says after a second. A cute grin on his face as he looked at them
”D!” They gently push his shoulder and smile.
”What I’m kidding. Ehh, sorta.” The two chuckled joking with each other as they looked at eachother then at D collection. The speakers in the miners section would speak telling the minors it’s time for their shift. D would then sigh and stretch his arms, flexing a bit to show off in front of Y/N. They just rolled their eyes and put a hand on Ds shoulder and starts walking with him as they walked towards the cart and start putting the tools for work before walking out with the others making their way to the train. D pushing the cart as Y/N walks close next to him.
Meanwhile~
The story then leads to a tower hanging on the top of the underground with the others as it shows a Cybertronian climbing and sneaking through a vent from the outside. Carefully landing in silence as he kneels down before red lasers on the ground. Him taking a closer look before looking around and then standing up. Stepping carefully towards his targeted direction. He then starts looking over a shelf with different records searching for a sort of recording chip.
”All right, lets see what we got here.” He says as he picks up a chip. Then walks to a table for the chips to show a recording.
”Seen it. Seen it.” He lets out a sigh as he walked and looked over the ships. “What’s this about?” He asks himself as he then puts the chip down on the table. After the records would start playing but it was a bit messed up being at its old age. The recording will repeat no as Orion would tell it to shush as he tries hitting the buttons.Causing one of the security bots to awaken and turn on floating in the air to find the source. Orion would then get the bright idea to take the chip out to shut it up and look behind him with worry in his eyes as he looked out for anything robot. He would then look back at the chip in his hand and gently blow on it before setting it back. The recording would start to work right.
”Ah, Here we go.” Orion says with joy.
”At the dawn of time. Years ago. There was our gracias and powerful creator. Primus. To protect our universe, he sacrificed his life for us. Transforming his life for us, transforming himself into our planet Cybertron. From within Cybertrons core birthed the first transformers known as the primes. The most powerful transformers appointed to lead future generations. To assist them primus created an entity of great power. The matrix of leadership”
”Matrix, there it is. Ok good. Come on. Keep going” Orion says un aware of the bot coming towards him.
”With the matrix in the primes possession. Cybertrons natural power source, energon. Flowed in abundance. Sustaining life across-“ The recording Continues as the small robot patrols and soon notices Orion. Orion was still watching the recording as he awaited the answer he’s searching for.
“Attention! Unauthorized movement detected at the archived vault. Sector J3.” The snitch robot says to other Cybertronianss with cogs.
“K to K 12 to K to K 1. Perching archives in 10 seconds.” A Cybertronian says with another as the two rocket shoes help them go faster to their intended location.
”For generations, there was peace and prosperity until the matrix of leadership was lost. Causing energon to no longer flow.” The recording says before turning off.
“Ugh, why does every leg and about the matrix end right there?” He sighs before looking in his arm. “One of these has to say what happened.”
“Halt. Criminal. Prepare to be contained”
”Uhh Iiiii”
”Prepare to be contained.”
”Prepare to conta-“ Orion would then punch it very hard after putting his fists up.
He would then run down the hall to where he came in from but the two guards who were warned about him made it in time to stop him. He would then turn the corner trying to escape still.
“Freeze!”
“Get Down!”
“Oh! Well! Hello guys! Yeah! I’m so glad you’re here. Which way is the exit? I must’ve taken a wrong turn.” He chuckles as he walks backwards.
“It’s that defective mining bot. Oreon Pix.”
”Orion Pax.”
”Who cares! We told you to never come back here!”
”Why are we all yelling guys?” He chuckles nervously.
”We are going to smash you!”
”Hold on. Whoa whoa hold on. No need for violence. How about this? I run away. You chase me. We play that game. Huh? Come on. You’re bigger, faster. It’ll be fun.”
”He doesn’t have a cog. Lets give him a head start.”
”Why not? It’s not like he can transform.”
”Oh yeah? Well watch this!” He would then fake a transformer ion to trick the two bigger bots before quickly turning around and running away getting a head start. Leaving the two mad as they both now chase after him.
“Get him!!”
Orion would then run through the archives and do a few stunts along the way. Jumping up and pulling a part of the ceiling down behind him causing it to fall on one of the bots. As he runs he then slides down on the floor as he keeps running looking for somewhere or something to use to escape. The two bots on his tail.
“I uh need something to find. Uh something to find.” He then spotted another bot for the archives.
Stealing the bot and carrying it in his arms as he kept running. The two bots are still chasing him. One of them would then transform mid air into his lt mode. Orion looking back seeing him would then run faster to the window. Jumping into it without hesitation. Orion would then be falling at very tall heights still holding the small robot with his hand. Hitting and shaking the bot to work
”Start!. Come on.” It would then work to help Orion stay in the air a bit as he hanged on.
Soon causing him to go into mid air traffic. Causing him to sort of get hit and him spinning with the bot. He would then hit a wall of a building causing him to let go and fall once more. Sliding down on the roofs of the building and making a fast jump to another one next door. Luckily catching it with his arms and climbing back on top. Noticing the two bots now on his tail again he fully got up and started running for a door.
”Haha. So long suck-“ He would then fall in a room full of Cybertronians speaking to each other. All having their cogs. He would land on a table breaking it and a bunch of energon placed there now around and a bit on him. All of them stare at him and he gets up taking a few energon with him
”Oh energon. Evening everyone. Pardon me.”
As he continued running he would slide off the floor again dropping some energon. Running into a crowd of other cybertronians with their cogs as a few would keep walking and others notice him making a run for it. He would continue to eat small pieces of energon off the floor as he kept running. He continues to run to where the other minors are as he bumps into other bigger Cybertronians who are surprised to see him. He would then notice the train and soon jump off a cliff right onto the train. landing on it causing the others inside to look up and see him.
”Oh it’s Orion.”
”Seriously?”
Orion would then keep running on the train. Once it’s at a complete stop he soon jumps off and continues to run getting closer to the doors for the minors as other minors are walking out. But the two bots would soon catch up and land in front of him, transforming. Orion then stopped to catch his breath.
“Ok. Hey fellas. Thanks for the head start. Wanna give me another one?”
”You’re dead!”
”I’ll take that as a no.” Orion says as he walks backwards again as the two bots get closer and closer now, more angry than ever. But then someone bumps a cart into one of the bots.
”Hey watch where you’re going you-oh nooo” D would then pretend to be surprised as he looked up at the two with his hands up.
”What did you say no cog?” The bot says to D.
”Sorry sir. I didn’t mean you. I was referring to the bot who was behind you.”
”What? Where he go?”
D would then start putting the tools needed back in the cart as he continues to speak to the bots. Helping Orion to escape.
“The filthy red and blue bot? Has a big mouth, squeaky joints, and gives off a carota metallic stench.”
”Where is he?!”
”He went that way.” D would then point to the right direction lying to the bots.
”When I get my hands on him!” The two then leave to the direction searching for Orion again among the many minor bots.
D would start walking to the train, getting on and standing at the other side.
*On the train-
Y/N and Elita were in the train already waiting for the train to start. The two stood. Elita speaking to another while Y/N looked out the window. Curious it’s in their eyes as they also look at the towers above. As they continued to look, Elita would turn and look at them. They sigh and look back down. Elita would dismiss her friend and walk to be next to Y/N looking out the window as well. Elita would then speak. Her hands down.
”So today is quite the day. I’ll finally get my promotion. I’m uhh- a little nervous.”
Elita was sort of lying feeling more confident. But she got nervous around them so much but did a good job not showing it too much. Y/N would then turn their body a bit as they looked at her with a soft smile.
”Elita you’ll do great. I believe in you. You’re a great leader and Sentinel is surely to notice.”
The train would start moving. Elita couldn’t help but smile as she glanced at them. She would then stutter on her words that are almost noticeable.
”O-oh you really believe so?” Her hand almost reached for theirs.
Y/N would then brightly smile and wrap that very hand and arm around her shoulders bringing her a bit closer. Elita caught herself as she then looked at them once at the same height. Their arms are still around her.
”I know it is. If anyone can do it. It’s you.”
Elita would visibly relax then. She would then get the confidence to put her hand on their shoulder as a smile is set on her lips.
”Thank you.” There was a moment of silence.
”And hey if it means you go to bigger places. Imagine! You’ll be an icon to all minors, not just me and the others close to you. Just don’t forget us. Dont forget me yeah?”
Elita would stare at them with soft optics as she stood up a little straight as she noticed they’re getting closer to the mines.
”You’re with me and a way better team than the last one.”
This made them really smile and look back up the window as it slowly gets dark. Them getting in the mines.
*Orion and D-
D was on the train as he nodded to another bot passing by
”Alright, all clear”
Orion would then pop out catching one of the tools from falling as he then would speak to D.
”Ok D-16 I may be a little rusty but carota that is too far. And where’s Y/N??”
”Elita had them join her earlier. To make sure the other miners aren’t going to mess up her promotion.” D would then sigh. Orion almost seemed disappointed like Ds face was. But they weren’t looking at each other.
”Let me guess. Checked out of the Archives?”
”Yeah. I had to jump out a window this time. Almost died. It was wild.”
”And digging through ancient data is worth dying for?”
”Yes it is.” He would say to the both of them as he then falls.
”I need a new best friend.” D groans as he then kneels down to help him.
“If there are clues in our recorded history that can help locate the matrix of leadership they’re in the archives. Trust-”
”Sentinel Prime. Thee sentinel prime is up on the surface. Right now. Is risking his life for us in search of the matrix. That’s-“
”Exactly what I’m doing! But I’m trying to help him!”
”Yeah. Oh oh ok.”
”The sooner energon flows again the sooner we won't have to mine for it. Don’t you wanna choose your own path. Do whatever you want?”
Orion would then leave against the cart as D will have both arms on the cart.
”We’re miners. We mine. That’s all”
”No, there's got to be something more I can do. I can feel it.”
”Oh yeah? Like the time that you had a feeling you could transform without a cog?”
”You said you were never going to mention that again!”
”Took me 3 days to pry you open. Your feelings get you in trouble.”
”Yeah. Yeah.”
”Just trust Sentinel Prime.”
”I do trust in him.”
”Hey. If we did have cogs.”
”I’d transform into a shovel and beat you.”
”I don’t like how fast you answered that.
“And listen if you did beat me. I couldn’t give you this awesome Megatronus prime thing I have here. It’s cool I’ll give it to someone else”
”What megatronus prime thing?
”Ah it’s nothing, it's just you know a mid-condition Megatronus prime decal first edition.” Orion would then show to be holding a Megatronus prime sticker between two fingers. Causing D to gasp before speaking.
”What?” He says in a low voice.
”I mean if you don’t want it I could just throw it away.”
”Throw it away!? Don’t- That’s not funny! Let me see it!” D tries to grab it before Orion pulls away.
”Don't grab. You’ll increase it.” Orion would then put the sticker on Ds arm and give his shoulder a nice pat before D speaks
”You know Sentinel prime says Megatronus was the-“
“Strongest Prime to ever live. I know buddy…It looks good on you.”
”It’s really cool. Thanks.
“Always Got Your Back.”
”No Matter What”
The two will the fist bump as they both smile at each other. Showing their brotherhood. (*crys*)don’t look at me)
The train would go into the mines as a lady over the speakers on the train would speak to the minors before their shift.
“Approaching sub level stations .Stand by of doors. Mining teams prepare to-“
The story then shows the works of mines as energon is shown falling out of mining carts. The coal of energon goes through a machine and soon shows energon flowing. Soon the miners for the shift at that hour fly through with rocket packs as they fly in unison to the designated spot. Y/N being behind D and Orion and speaks along with the others when speaking in unison.
“Metal to the pedal drill bits. This is it. How much energon you mine under my leadership.” Elita speaks as the leader she is.
“So much Elita One.” The minors say in unison.
“And how perfect is my mining record?”
“So perfect Elita One.”
“We are near 30 units of energon away from my promotion to supervisor. Are you happy for me?”
“So happy Elita One.”
The minors then land at a mining section. Elita in front with D and Orion right behind her. Y/N right next to Elita walking with here having their hands behind their back. A little smile on their face as usual.
“Elita- I mean Captain. You’re looking especially shiny this morning. New polish?”
Y/N Would look back at the two. Happy to see the two as the two would also look at them happy as Orion and Elita continue to talk.
“Orion Pax I’m sorry if I gave off the impression that we’re friends.”
“Apology accepted.”
“One up that wall! Let’s go! 10 seconds!”
“Happy to take the lead today captain. Feeling like I have enough power in me to drill down and touch primus myself.”
“You don’t have the touch or the power. Ready positions rust buckets. Let’s go!”
Elita would then start running as D and Orion continue to keep walking with their tools. Y/N joining her as they wave at the two before following. Orion and D would wave at them as they both have little cheeky smiles.
“She’s in a good mood today.”
“Mmm-hmm.”
“You ready?”
“Always ready. Lets punch it.”
They all would go to a section of the mines as a hole then a path opens up for them with much energon inside. Y/N still next to Elita as they ran along into the tunnel. Other bots behind them setting up a a sort of tool that extends to help keep the tunnel open for them. Once things are set Y/N and the other minors start to fly deeper into the mines. Finally landing and start using their tools. Taking out any peice of energon they can.
“Here we go, this one won't be open long. Brace it up.”
“Here we go! Ready!”
“Our channel is open.”
“Roll it out.”
Orion would glance over at them every now and then while D would focus on work a little more then Orion. Y/N continues their work until they hit something. But as they continued the energon would start reacting aggressively and the cracks wuld start to spread.
”Hey I got som-“
“It’s not stable! Gotta go. Gotta move!”
Everyone would start flying out of the mines flying up. Soon everyone getting pushed more by a explosion of the energon.
“Evacuate! I want everyone out! Evacuate immediately! The tunnel is closing! I repeat. The tunnel is closing!”
Elita an a few other minors fly away not being in the mining path. Jazz, D, Orion, and Y/N still behind in the mine as they keep flying escaping the closing mind right behind them.
“With me D?”
“On your six. Keep going!”
“Jazz? Y/N?”
“Right behind you” the two say together.
“Watch out!”
A giant rock would land on Jazz leg. Y/n was close to him and they already got up to start pushing the rock.
“Jazz is stuck! Elita we got a trapped minor. I’m falling back to assist.”
“Negatives do not break protocol. Evacuate.“
“We’re gonna need more lift!”
”We need a miracle!” Y/N and D said as struggle is heard in both their voices.
“It’s closing! Just grab your pack and go!”
“Good idea.”
“What?! No I didn’t mean it!”
“Pull him clear!” Orion would pull jazz as D and Y/N keep pushing. The pack soon exploding. Orion would protect Jazz as D. and Y/N lean away from the explosion to protect their self.
“Pax what’s happening?”
“Nothing much. Just normal protocol following stuff. It’s all good….oh that’s not good.”
The four would then hear a rumbling sound as they looked back. The place would then cause a sort of electric wave causing dust to go everywhere.
“Orion Pax, would you please exit the tunnel of death.”
“Elita1 it’s about to get messy out there!”
The wave would then reach the others and push Elita and the other minors back. The four are running together as fast as they can. Elita would throw the tools to keep the path open. Y/N behind D as they get closer and closer to the others. Everything is collapsing around them.
“Go go go!”
The four made a jump and were able to get out in time. D having to have talked Elita to save her while Y/N was right behind Orion. They were all able to get out. Y/N face planting on the ground
“What the hell Pax? I told you to evacuate.”
“I did. Eventually.”
Orion says as he and Elita speak while slowly standing up. D standing as he help Y/N giving her a hand. Before turning to help Orion. The three now looking at Elita while she spoke.
“If I get fired because of you!”
“Oh please. They’re not going to fire you.” Darkwing would then land behind her from the ceiling as he looked down at her.
“Elita One, you’re fired.”
“What?! Why? I follow protocol to the letter!”
“That is true. I was the one who broke the rules not-“
“No one asked you. Darkwing please I worked too hard for this you can’t-“
“You are no cog bots with limited options. report to waste management immediately.”
“Waste management?”
Elita would walk towards the three with anger in her eyes. Y/N looked at her sad as they try to reach a hand towards her.
“Elita.”
“Next time, why don’t you stop and think before you ruin someones life.”
“I'm sorry..”
Y/N would then get an idea and walks past the two and up to Darkwing. Getting in front of him after speaking to wheeljack
”The hell is your problem? Elita is just as good as any other like a cog bot I know and we know! OK you-“
”As I said. You are cogless bots with limited options. The only thing that makes any of you special is your ”relentless” need to work and eat. And the only way to get off that. Is to have a cog.”
He would then get in their face. Their face natural but their eyes are now farrowed as they stared up at him. They would then open their mouth only for him to interrupt them
”But we-“
”If you want more such as Elita did before. I suggest you either get better at your job or try a job where you will be a “little more” noticed.” He would put his hand on their shoulder a little closer to their head. D and Orion noticed and the two started to worry until Orion would got an idea
Y/N would look at his hand then look down, almost worried. Darkwings hand showing to squeeze their shoulder a bit.
”I’ll personally take you to the destination myse-“
“Hey Darkwing!” Darkwing takes his hand of them and stands up a bit straighter as he looks at Orion. Y/N look at Orion a bit worried for him
“Don't do it.” D said a bit annoyed with Orion but he mostly watched over Y/N.
“I may not have a cog but my finger can transform. Guess which one. I’ll give you a limited option.” Darkwing would then throw a punch towards Orions head until D stopped his fist with his hand.
“Excuse me sir. Allow me.” He then punches Orion on the side of the face
“I apologies on his behave for the disres-“ Darkwing would then punch D in the face
“whhhyyy”
“D!” Y/N would walk past Darkwing. He would watch them as they kneel down and look at them both. Darkwing would then scoff
“The offer still stands. Don’t let these two cogless scrap hold you back Y/N. They ain’t worth the time.” He says as he stays standing behind them. Crossing his arms as he looked down at him
”I’m fine with just where I am now. “Thanks” Darkwing but I can make my own connections and place as a cogless bot.” They give him side away. While he grumbles and walks away
They would look back at thee two. Orion sitting up as he groans from being punched and D doing the same but a bit slower. They help Orion and then D as they speak.
”Come on guys. Lets go back tot he train. We’re done here.”
The two groan as they say yeah in unison. Orion putting his hand on D shoulder while Y/N had one hand on his chest and the other on his back as he had his arm around their shoulder. The three would walk to the direction and get new jet packs along with everyone else. The three would soon make it to the train and head back to their mining quarters as they were done with that shift for the day.
*On the train-
Orion, D and Y/N stand on the train. D leaning on the window as he rubs the side of his face he was punched at. Orion leaning against the window on his back crossing his arms. Y/N stands as they put their hands on their hips and looks down. Worry and annoyance in their face. Orion notices this. Scratching the back of his head as he stands up a bit straighter and lets his arms down.
”You meant what you said right? Uh back there about the-”
”Yes Orion. I do mean it. Darkwing doesn’t know what he’s talking about when it comes to us miners. Just was he’s been told. At least from my point of view.” They would look at him. Orion smiling a little from their words
”So you will stay with us?”
”I’m at a better place with you guys then anywhere else Pax.” They say as they put their hand on his shoulder. Giving him a warm smile. D would then groan a bit more
”How much longer??”
”Just a couple more minutes D. Then you can rest better bud.”
”Yaaaaaaaayy”
Orion and Y/N would chuckle as they both looked at eachother. The train continueing.
*Back at the minors quarters-
“That. Really. Hurt…”
“Well what did you expect, he’s metal.”
Y/N was standing next to D and puts a hand on his shoulder and their other on their hip as he rests his head on his fist and looks down.
“You know you were out of line. Talking back to a superior like that.”
“Darkwing was out of line. He deserves it…Aren’t you tired of being treated like we’re nothing.”
“He had every right to hit me. I interfered.”
“Hey. And I appreciate you having my back. I’m glad you were there with me to get punched in the face. It was fun.”
“Anytime buddy.”
Y/N would look at them with a warm smile on their face. Crossing their arms as the two would chuckling together. Feeling better right away
“Attention all sectors stand by for a live transmission from Sentinel Prime.”
“He’s back? He’s back already?”
D would look at Orion and Y/N as the two stood up and the three went closer to where the hologram of Sentinel Prime would appear.
“Maybe he found the matrix.”
“Is it on? Ok, thank you. Hello my friends. Hello Iacon city. Hello to our saviors. Industrious miners, who toil ruthlessly to maintain our energon reserves. I celebrate you.”
Y/N next to Orion as D stands on his other side. Orion and Y/N stand their with soft smiles keeping their hands behind their back.
“Humility and presents. That’s leadership. Nobody does it better!” D says looking at the two. The two looking at him happy to see him smile.
“Once again I have narrowly returned with my fleet after another treacherous expedition across the desolate, dangerous surface of our planet. I departed in hopes of finding the matrix of leadership and in bringing balance to Cybertron. I regret to inform you that we’ve returned empty handed. This is a set back. But not a failure. Rest assured. I will find the matrix of leadership so that energon can flow again. but that’s in the future. Right now I think we all deserve a little fun. Tomorrow there will be no work, all shifts off. Because tomorrow is the Iacon 5,000. My favorite event a high obtain race all across Iacon city. Let’s all see which competitive can prove they are truly more than meets the eye.”
Everyone cheered excited thanks to sentinels speeches. D going to another bot to cheer while Orion and Y/N stood there. Orion was deep in though as he thought about Sentinels words. Y/N noticed and put a hand on his shoulder giving him a small smile. Later that night while everyone else was asleep Orion was the only one awake. Looking over at D who was across from him.
“D….Pst. Hey D….Oh good you’re up. Come on, I have an idea.”
“Whatever this is, it better be good.”
“Yeah yeah yeah ok listen. What if- What if- What if! Tomorrow we ran in the Iacon 5000! Huh?”
“What if I kill you for waking me up?”
“No no no hear me out. We don’t even have to win.”
“Nah that’s good ‘cause we wouldn’t.”
“But! If we beat just one transformer it proves we’re just as good as they are.Not only would we go down in history the- the mining bots that did the impossible but we would show everyone that we’re capable of so much more.”
“Or we get publicly humiliated and then busted back to tear one.”
“Yeah but at least we would’ve done something you know?”
“Pax.”
“Come on D-“
“Pax. We’re mining bots who can’t transform. We can’t fly. We can’t roll. We can’t race. Come on lets go.” D would start leaving back to the others to go back to sleep
“All right, fine. Yeah maybe you're right. Maybe…..” He would look at the board his face will show determination as he has his mindset on a new plan he’s sure to work
Oh yeah first chapter of Transformers One story where you’re a miner! Sorry for this being so long but every moment just feels right to add! Can’t wait to power chapter two next week and at least some of you enjoyed this lol. Any feedback or criticisms is welcomed and hope you all have a good rest of your Morning/Afternoon/Night

Been mulling over Titans Tower and it's really interesting to me how it's treated in Fanon as compared to how the events transpired in canon. it's a really fun topic! Honestly, the original writing in canon is DOGSHITE but not for the usual reasons people cite.
Here's what does make sense in canon but is largely ignored (this is using canon characterisations at the time): First, it's all about the whole Titans team, not just Tim. They really downplay his death a lot, did not put up his statue or honour him whatsoever. Plus the hero community tends to victim-blame him a fuckton. Jason is showing that his death could've happened to anyone. Second, Tim and Jason are just two yearish apart—Jay died at 15, Tim becomes Robin at 13so those Titans are more like his colleagues than anything else; he's not some older guy beating the shit outta them. Third, Tim’s indifference to Jason's comments and his cockiness about being a better Robin are pretty on-brand for his early portrayal as Robin. (I think fanon Tim derives a lot of his characteristics from his Red Robin run, which is valid as well! But here in particular we have Robin Tim... who... was... uh... a bit of an asshole when he was written back then and the HUBRIS on that man? Immaculate.)
What still makes this absolutely dog shit is the dialogue and how Jason is pouring his heart out to someone who he doesn't really care about. Jason... just doesn't operate this way... Why's he trauma dumping on... tim... ???? It makes no sense whatsoever because Jason really is someone who'd keep those vulnerabilities to himself. Why would he open up to... CANON TIM??? He makes scathing remarks when faced with Bruce and Dick because he knows the knife twists then and at he cares about their reaction. But not tim ????? Canon UTRH doesn't even mention Tim ????? ???? So in the end it's still shit imo.
I also find the use of Pit Madness in fanon super interesting, despite it not being canon. It's used to propel the Titan's Tower incident, which fascinates me because it shows how people are willing to work around its flaws to maintain consistent characterization in their works (which is !!! cool !!)
It's so interesting how many other incidents that do occur in canon aren't as well known as this one aren't given much thought. But this one is and it's interesting how people try to work with it regardless of it's flaws originally!
I'd really love to hear your opinions about it and how flexible you are with the Titans tower incident! :) How do you work with your Jason and your Tim? because it's cool to hear your analysis etc etc
Hooo boi okay i was planning on replying to this earlier but this deserves a proper, thought out response (which I’m shite at but I’m trying here. Words are hard.)
For one, I wholeheartedly agree with the whole trauma dumping thing.
Obviously we all have different tastes in media and I know there are quite a few people who enjoyed the confrontation with Tim, which is totally fine, but personally… yeah, not my thing.
I got into the Batman/batfam fandom via fanfic, so my first introduction was some version of Titans Tower I believe. I was super intrigued by the characters and the tidbits of lore sprinkled throughout that I immediately began reading up on them and digging through the internet for more info and background story on them. Which then quickly evolved into the part where my adoration for Jason’s character began and a short phase where I absolutely despised early canon Tim.
Like— all the victim blaming. He seriously couldn’t mention Jason without adding something derogatory about getting himself killed, which sat so, so wrong with me. Not to mention the Titans just accepting a new Robin right off the bat and joining in blaming Jason for his own death. I’m pretty sure that was the point where I swore off comics for a long while and decided to live off fanon 🤣
And then Jason’s part in the Titans Tower incident. I think part of how weird the canon event was is due in part to how the writers fumbled to depict trauma? Or maybe they just outright hated him because I know a lot of people back then despised Jason and his run as Robin.
Whatever the reason, I think I genuinely cringed when he revealed the Walmart Robin costume he was wearing. And then the trauma dumping.
Jason is smart enough to know Tim wouldn’t care about his grievances. I mean- dude just broke into his hideout to attack him, I think Tim’s about as done with Jason as with any other criminals, regardless of his past. And all that is proven by Tim fighting back tooth and nail without pause. He doesn’t even react to the accusation of the missing statue in Jason’s honor. Like, he genuinely doesn’t seem to care. And why would he? They don’t know each other.
And yeah maybe he was trying to beat some sense into Tim (which is still wrong but— vigilantes I guess? Idk) and make him quit Robin, but Jason’s also smart enough to know that Robins don’t quit easily. And then, as soon as Tim is down for the count and can’t keep fighting, Jason leaves. Just like that. No actual murder attempt, no kicking-while-he’s-down (at least as far as I remember).
It makes no sense. What would Jason be gaining from that encounter? Why would he blame the kid that replaced him and not the guy that did the replacing? Hell, it would make more sense for him to go after the Titans than Tim. Not the mention him casually doubting Tim’s talents when he must have done some background checks on him.
It’s why I like the idea of Pit Madness I guess, and that Jason actually went to the tower with the intent to kill. Because that way the entire thing wouldn’t seem so… pointless.
As for how flexible I am with the Titans Tower storyline, it really depends on the route people choose to explore. But I’m a huge sucker for the “Jason was Tim’s Robin” trope where there’s at least a mild amount of hero worship going on. 👁️ Oh, and happy endings. I can’t deal with tragedies.
But yeah these are my thoughts on it. Obviously no hate to whoever enjoyed the comic mentioned above 💚 we’ve all got different things we resonate with after all~
#I wish I was more articulate in English but as much as I write fic my brain just BLANKS when I try to respond professionally in English#it’s like ‘you get to use metaphors but your vocab is void for argumentative convos’#I’m so sorry anon I swear I was trying very hard#I hope some of this is understandable on a deeper level#because I have FEELINGS on this topic#but mostly it boils down to me not being a fan of the canon titans tower incident#ghost talks#jason todd#titans tower incident#Tim drake#red hood#robin

what’s yours is mine (8/?)
previous masterlist next
pairing: geto suguru x reader x gojo satoru
You don’t know a lot of things, and you readily admit that. What you do know, is that the friends you’ve made aren’t something you will ever regret. Until your physical body weakens and becomes nothing, you’re more than happy to give your all until you wither away.
What’s yours can be theirs, too. They’re your friends, after-all. (Omegaverse AU)
“You should stop hanging around people like me.” It’s said with a grunt of conviction, low and throaty and trying to sound too much like he didn’t care. Like it didn’t mean anything if you left him.
(The only reason you can tell is because Satoru does the exact same thing.)
And you only ever have a single reply to statements like that, despite all your confusion about the origins of such things.
“Nope.” You pop the ending sound, kicking your feet up as you finish off the rest of your crumbled snack, dusting your fingers of biscuit dust as you dab your hanky against your lips. “You’re stuck with me now.”
Just like how he’s stuck with you.
“What?” He lets out a dry laugh, disbelieved green eyes narrowed down at you as the scar on his lip stretches out into a lazy grin. “Don’t tell me ya think of me as a friend or somethin’?”
“No.” He’s partially wrong, you’re pretty sure. “Adults and kids can’t be friends.”
They’re not allowed to. Something about ethics, about danger, about candy and chocolate and not even your favourite pudding. You don’t remember the whole thing, but you know kids and adults are not allowed to mix together like that.
Not allowed to be like you, Suguru and Satoru.
That’s what your Mama always taught you. That it was for the best, that you should always be careful. So you definitely think you know better as your head is tilted to the side and you point a finger at him; before directing it at yourself with that familiar grin on your face.
“So you’re my teacher and I’m your disciple.”
“The fuck?”
Mhm. Sounds about right. You nod to yourself, a proud hand on your chin as you give a pat on your own back for not only sticking to Mama’s words, but also finally claiming the scariest, biggest kid-adult around as your mentor.
Things are going perfectly as planned.
“I’m gonna get as strong and as scary as you are so that nobody can ever mess with me again.”
That’s right. You’ll grow so strong that everybody would fear you just as much or even more than Satoru— Then they’ll finally like him more. Finally be able to talk to him because they’re more scared of you than they are him. Nobody can ever make fun of Suguru, talk badly about your Mama or better yet— You can be the one that beats up all the ‘piss ugly freaks who beg to have their faces pummelled in’ like Mister Teacher here always says.
(It’s totally fine because your teacher does it too, right?)
“And what makes ya think I’m gonna teach you anything, brat?”
Well, you haven’t really thought that one through. That’s a very good question. As expected of your teacher.
“Cause I’m helpful and cute.”
‘Helpful’. Also known as using the very last of your well-loved, wacky band-aid collection on him. Your absolute favourites that you just couldn’t bring yourself to use that had been offered up to him the times you see him collapsed against the bench and snoring away.
So you took the liberty of pouring water on his cuts and heartbreakingly parting with your precious, precious band-aids.
All is part and parcel of being a hero, anyway.
(And the cute part… Mama always tells you that you are, anyway.)
“I’ll even buy you those big protective gloves so you can stop hurting your hands when I’m older and have a job like my Mama.”
“Pfft— Yea? What are ya even gonna work as to afford those?”
You barely hesitate in your reply, the turn of your head far too quick as the apples of your cheeks show through your excited smile.
“A hero.”
“And if they don’t pay enough?”
Well. You never really thought about that. Does being a hero really not pay as well as you think? Come to think of it… You’ve never seen Sailor Moon get paid. It seems like being a magical girl doesn’t come with a celery.
(Can you really pay for things in vegetables? You’ll ask Mama to help you grow some. Even if you don’t want to eat them…)
“Justice will always be rewarded.”
And this Mister that you talk to too much finally starts laughing, slapping his knee as he starts howling with laughter and snorting through his nose. It was loud, it was free.
Without a care in the world.
“You’re one dumb fuckin’ kid, ain’t cha?”
At least he’s smiling again. Even if you’re pretty sure he was making fun of you as you pout at his head that was positioned too high up upon his shoulders.
(Or maybe his neck was too long?)
“You can’t say that if you’re my teacher!”
“Then ya can’t yell at me if y’er my disciple.”
——
Even if one good thing comes to fruition, you should never be too comfortable with what the future may have in store for you. Small, minuscule little things always add up to big ones, snowballing into a problem that you just didn’t foresee before it comes hurling down towards you.
That’s what the astrology charts said, anyway. You didn’t understand then, but you think you do now that it has really ‘come to fruition’. Surely, it couldn’t be any truer now as your hand is slapped away, the smack echoing throughout the playground as your eyes widen and your skin stings with a feeling too unpleasant.
“I don’t wanna hear it! Don’t talk! Be quiet!”
Usually, Satoru telling you to shut up in 3 different ways would be less hostile, would have less weight to them. Usually, those sky coloured eyes wouldn’t glare at you with so much hatred, wouldn’t have so much pressure that threatened to pummel you to your knees.
(Because this is still your Satoru, isn’t it?)
“B-But Ieiri-chan and I are—“
“How many times are you gonna break our promise?!” His face is dusted with red— Not the sweet cherry shade that you were used to seeing when he got embarrassed or shy. The air felt like it was pricking you, prodding at you uncomfortably as you shrink in on yourself whilst nursing the area that hurt way more than you thought.
That’s why it irritated your eyes so much, right? Did the air always smell so hostile? So uncomfortably angry and horrible and heartbreaking?
“I told ya so many times that you can’t be friends with anyone other than me! That you’re not allowed to betray me! That you promised me!” It came out as an angry squeak, something adults would probably laugh at— Yet it felt like he was hammering nails into your heart as a lump builds up in your throat and the thrumming of your heartbeat against your chest becomes too much.
“Are you even trying anymore?!”
He’s right. You’re fine with your classmates whispering things whenever you walked past, fine with their trailing eyes and quiet gossips about how you’re just kissing up, fine that they’ll never truly like you for you just because you chose to associate with the Gojo family.
But you never once thought that being called a horrible friend would hurt this much. It tore through you, guilt riddling your very being as you whimper and bite down on your lip, trying to steady your breaths as you tried not to cry.
Because do you even deserve to? You’re not the one who was hurt in this situation. You’re not the one who kept true to the promise you made all those years ago.
“I-I really—“ Really didn’t mean it. Truly. It’s not a secret that you want to be on friendly terms with anyone willing to talk to you, not a surprise that you’ve been waving to and greeting the easy-going girl whenever you see her in class.
But it seems everything has a breaking point.
“I’m s-sorry…” Your hands bundle up the hem of your shirt, sweat getting absorbed by the cotton fabric, your head that tilted downwards as tears began to drip from your eyes and phlegm built up in your throat as you hiccuped your words.
“I didn’t mean to h-hurt you, Satoru…”
Because you never meant for him to feel this way. You’ve always taken him into consideration, always wanted him to be happy when he was with you; beside you.
It was your fault for trying too hard to find workarounds, to mistakenly believe that it was still fine to interact with someone who you thought was an outlier to the promise.
(Or was it simply your fault for wanting to make a decision that was far too selfish?)
And he doesn’t even say anything else to you, only the feel of his eyes stabbing into your conscience before you hear him stomp away, his familiar sneakers kicking up sand that left you in the dust as you’re left behind in this setting sun that casted your shadow behind you, growing longer and longer the more the light dimmed.
“Kimi-chan! I wanna go home!”
“G-Gojo-sama, are you not going to play a little longer? There’s still quite a bit of time left before you—“
A beat of silence.
“Understood, Young Master. I will prepare the car to send the both of you back home.”
Maybe you deserve this, you think. Maybe this was the punishment you had to bear as you’re sat in the back of the car all on your lonesome as your now silent friend makes nay a sound in the front seat.
Separated from you. Not even saying goodbye to you as Kimiko-san opens the door for you, her apologetic eyes and a polite bow as you’re left behind in the cloud of dust formed behind the car.
Silently waving it goodbye.
So you think you definitely deserve it as you drag yourself to your front door, past the genkan and kicking off your shoes as you kept your gaze stuck to the floor and your hands frantically wiping the wetness from your eyes when you hear the shuffling in the kitchen and the clatter of the lid against a boiling pot.
Your first ever fight. Or would it be more accurate to say— Your first ever fallout with anybody at all? You don’t know how to process it, what you’re gonna do now that you were left without an answer to your teary apology and small voice.
“What’s wrong?” Her hand is in your hair as she pats you, your chopsticks suddenly feeling too heavy as you blink back into reality, your blurry gaze finally focusing back as you shake your head lightly—
“But you haven’t touched any of your food.” And you realize that you’ve only been blankly staring down at the steaming bowl of rice, had barely touched any of the meatballs that your Mama made.
“Is the soup not good? I forgot to pick up the miso today so I had to make do with salt.” Her chopsticks clack down as she picks up her own bowl, bringing it up to her lips as she takes another taste for good measure.
“No.” Because you aren’t the type to want to worry your Mama, not the type to want her to think too much about you whilst she’s hard at her job.
“It tastes really good, Mama.”
Not the type to want to bother her with problems that were solely your own. Especially when she’s been coming home with dark bags under her eyes and a tired smile on her face when she kisses your forehead in greeting each and every time.
She’s strong, so you want to be strong too.
It’s your own secret for now, because you want to hide this. It’s your choice, something you made for yourself as you hurriedly scoop more rice into these lips that told too many lies and kept a secret from your own Mama that you always claimed to love so much.
“Yua-sensei just gave too much homework today.” You add a smile at the end just for good measure, forcing the bright grin you usually show her as you stuff another meatball into your mouth.
Maybe you really are not as good of a kid as you thought. But you sincerely hope she believes you, hope she can fall for it— Even if it was just this once.
“I’m here if you need any help, okay?”
“Mhm. Thanks, Mama.”
You’ll solve this. You think you can’t… But you’ll still do your best to, anyway.
It’s a problem you caused.
“Are you okay?” The towel in his hair is haphazardly thrown over his head, his voice a prodding question to your conscience as you limply hold the other paper cup telephone in your hand.
“Did something happen while I was at training today?”
Your nightly talks with your Suguru.
“No,” Your voice is barely audible even through the makeshift telephone, throat scratchy as your shoulders slump even further and you think you might want to hide away forever. “But you need to dry your hair before you catch a cold…”
Because for some reason, you feel too ashamed to even face him right now.
“Speak for yourself first, (name).” His head is propped up against his arm as he raises a brow, looking at you and your still slightly damp hair from your bath as you continued to wipe off the tears that just refused to stop falling, that refused to pretend that everything was truly as alright as you wanted to make it seem.
The moon was out, and the sky was clear. So it made that the only other witness to your quiet, wordless sadness as you stare down at your hand, the sting of the hit long gone— For it just wasn’t hard enough to cause enough harm to you.
“You fought with Satoru, right?” It’s suddenly voiced out and almost scares you— Almost makes you start sobbing outright there and then.
How… Do the people around you always read you so well? How do they always tell that something’s wrong with you despite all the effort you put into hiding it? Were you bad at lying despite doing it so much? Were you doomed to simply be called a liar that wasn’t even good at the one thing they were labelled as?
(So much for lying for the ‘greater good’.)
“…cause you keep looking like you’re gonna cry.” That’s a lie. You know he’s telling a lie so that he won’t make you feel any worse, so that you won’t feel so embarrassed. You know he’s telling a lie because you were already crying, your stupid tears that just kept falling no matter how hard you’ve tried to keep yourself in check, no matter how hard you bit down on your lip or how hard you’ve tried to muffle your sniffles.
You’re the most hopeless, worst liar ever.
“Do you like her?” His voice is soft and whispered and low so that it wouldn’t startle you, trying to blanket you in his caress despite the distance between your windows. “Ieiri-san, I mean.”
Ah. You should’ve expected him to already know.
But to answer his question… You do. You really do. She wasn’t like the rest of the kids who questioned you on your relationship with the Gojo child, wasn’t like the other kids who judged you simply because you didn’t exactly fit in with the rest of them or because you didn’t really like playing outside during break.
So, you pathetically nod in reply, wiping snot off from your philtrum and trying really hard to find your voice, trying really hard to be honest so that you wouldn’t lie anymore.
So that you didn’t have to pretend like nothing was wrong.
“I like her.” You really, genuinely do. Even if she was hard to read, even if she takes things too lightly or seemed like she didn’t care… She always proved that she did in the end. Maybe it was giving you an extra of the magical eraser you’ve been secretly eyeing in her pencil case, maybe it was letting you lean on her shoulder as you read her shoujo manga beside her.
And maybe it was simply the feeling of having a girl friend that made your heart soar with a feeling unlike the times you hang around your best friends. It was like an unsaid bond, something akin to finding someone with likes too alike yours that it just didn’t make sense to not continue to hang around her.
“Hmm.” His voice is just as tender as ever even if he was simply thinking about your answer, his gaze on you turning unreadable as you wipe away another tear, stifle another sniffle.
Try to act like you really, really weren’t crying.
“And if Satoru and I told you that we didn’t,” You can see how those purple eyes of his glinted with an emotion you didn’t understand, shone with the shimmers of the moonlight that reflected from them as you try your hardest to steel yourself for whatever was coming next.
“Would you still be friends with her?”
Oh. How… Do you reply to this?
“I’m sorry for making you choose. Please don’t cry.” If only he were there beside you, if only he could be there to hold you and tell you that he would tolerate anybody that you liked. If only he could confidently tell you that he wasn’t jealous, wasn’t trying to convince you out of something that you wanted— Only then would he finally be able to fearlessly go over.
Alas, he’ll keep it to himself. He’ll tell himself that it really is all right, tell himself that he can make compromises if it could prevent you from ever crying ever again.
It would be worth it then.
“Then… I won’t try to be friends with her anymore…” Not if you’ll lose the 2 who you think are worth more than whatever you’ll ever be able to count in this life, a bubble of phlegm in your throat clearing when you cough out your reply through your tears.
“I-I don’t like making either of you sad…”
And it locks into silence afterwards, a reply unheard from your poor paper cup that you were just too afraid to soil with your tears as your handkerchief soaks yet another round of your childish dejection.
“Please don’t cry.” It now sounds panicked and not at all alike the
And maybe, just maybe— His words make you think just that little bit more as your own mind swirls in on itself. Maybe you want something for yourself for the first time ever, want to make a decision that was solely you. A decision that would usually be far too dangerous, but for once, it would be your own nonetheless.
That’s how you won’t leave any regrets, right?
“But…” You swallow the lump in your throat again as your reddened, swollen gaze met his. “Would you both please meet her first…?”
Before they decided to hate her forever, that is.
It’s not the best plan, but it was your favourite. That was enough reason to pick it, enough for you to forego any of your other intentions in favour of this.
Because it gave you too much meaning for you to regret anything else.
Though, there was a very big hole in your plan. That being the fact that Satoru… Still won’t talk to you. Even on the way to school when you nervously squeezed Suguru’s hand as you both awaited for the familiar car to arrive, even when you both silently trailed after the… Suddenly sullen boy that refused to speak a singular word towards the both of you.
It’s a boon that you’re all only 8, otherwise your blushing, stubborn friend wouldn’t be showing up at school with his head held high, stubbornly sat next to you as he did his absolute hardest not to look you in the eye all throughout the different periods.
Even if he was— Quite literally, sat next to you. Mangas where best friends avoid each other are a staple you’ve read before— But it seems that the cliches of them being able to avoid each other entirely just didn’t apply in real life.
It doesn’t feel awkward, though. Just… Sad.
“Satoru…?” You visibly deflate when he doesn’t reply, your view of the back of his head being a constant throughout today that didn’t quite settle well with you. So you make do with a frown and dejected stare down at the math worksheet that he would’ve usually been pointing at and trying to make you understand by now.
But it looks like he still didn’t want to talk. Not even when all your trays of food have been cleared and lunch would be just about over in a little while.
“Satoru, seriously?” It’s Geto’s voice that has the snow-haired boy jumping slightly, a twitch of his shoulders and his crystal blue eyes narrowed when he pouts and glares at him with only the slightest, careful turn of his head.
“How long are ya gonna stay mad?”
He could’ve chosen to not come to school, could’ve chosen to go back to his private lessons within his too big home…
But he chose to come here, still. So it means something, right? It definitely does when he finally gets called out by the most sensible out of the 3 of you, finally losing his deity-like patience the moment you’ve given up, his small hands tightly holding yours to comfort you from the all too stubborn, hard-headed friend you both had.
Gojo Satoru was not good at talking. Sure, he can talk anyone’s ear off about Digimon, can go on and on about cakes and how they could be interlinked with the wide world of physics, why his favourite soda brand should be the only one allowed to exist and so many other arbitrary things.
But he was still no good at talking. He can’t speak wholeheartedly like you do, can’t express his emotions so softly like Suguru does— He can’t do it well lest it shows the vulnerability a Gojo does not reveal.
A Gojo does not show weakness. They were raised to never do so, that’s why he’s roughly pushing a neatly wrapped box of cookies that had been crumpled when stuffed into his Digimon backpack, hurriedly snatching up the note very obviously left behind by a certain maidservant for encouragement as he blushes and glares down at his hands.
‘You can do it, Young Master Gojo!’ ٩(^‿^)۶
“K-Kimi-chan said t-this is good apology food so!” The burning tips of his ears grow ever hotter as it’s accidentally shoved off the table and falling onto your lap, curious purple and your own eyes meeting; going down to the box of cookies— And up to the extremely red Satoru that looked like a massively adorable contrast to the waves of ocean blue of his starry eyes.
“S-So just eat it and— And… S-sorry, okay?!”
You should’ve known that your Satoru has always been this way, your hands going up to your cheeks as you perk up and smooth out the crinkled wrapping paper,
“Thank you…”
(“There! I said it!” His blushing face was growing increasingly ashamed as his amethyst-eyed best friend pats his back from behind, your arms wrapped around his neck from the front as you simply can’t help the smile stretched onto your face.
“I’m sorry too, Satoru.”)
(But you still have to break the promise. Just one last time as you pull away from his hug, taking a deep breath and squeezing Suguru’s hand as you prepare to ask for quite possibly— The impossible.)
——
“Ah.” Ieiri Shoko finally sees why you were so nervous when you asked her to come over to play, why the look on your face was so deathly serious and almost constipated looking that she thought you were inviting her over so as to declare a fight to death— Or something like that.
You weren’t exactly the most normal kid around.
“It’s been a while, hasn’t it?” She nods towards him, clearly unimpressed with this situation as all 4 of you sat within Suguru’s room, warm, untouched milk in your cup as you all sat around the low table.
“Gojo.”
Wait. What? Did she just call him by his last name with no honorifics? This— Was the first time they’ve ever looked at each other face to face— To your knowledge, anyway.
Then there could only be one explanation as you watch your cute friend practically chug down another glass of strawberry juice out of pure irritation.
(“At least have some manners when people are talking, Satoru.” Your poor host can only sigh as he watches the boy pout and glare at him, his red cheeks puffed up.)
“You… Guys know each other?”
“Mhm.” Said like it was the obvious thing ever.
“Hmph.” Huffed out in disgruntled acceptance.
“Our parents do.” She twirls a strand of her hair, neatly done up into a cute half-up braid around as she takes another sip of juice. “Our families tried to set up an arranged marriage with us once.”
What?
“I told ya she was trouble.” Your Satoru’s the one leaning his head on your shoulder, hugging you tightly to him as he glares at the intruder that dared to try to steal his precious friend. “Are we done? I wanna go play!”
“Wait— Is that why you hated her so much, Satoru?” Now Suguru’s the one looking almost disgusted, shocked and everything in between as he grimaces at the spoiled kid. “She didn’t even do anything. It was her parents.”
“She’s guilty by default!”
“The arrangement didn’t go through though,” Her cup clanks against the coaster upon the low table as her posture grows increasingly lax and unlike the ‘proper, elegant’ first impression people would see her as.
“Cause he kept rejecting it and I kept skipping out on our play dates.” She even couples it with a wide, dismissive open-mouthed yawn as her head meets your other free shoulder.
(You’re out of shoulders to lend to Suguru.)
“Hell would freeze over before I even considered marrying someone like him, though.” Because if she was considering marriage candidates, she would want someone more docile, gentle. Someone who actually listens to what she has to say. Someone like y—
“Yea, yea!” He’s huffing angrily as he lightly shoves her head off of you. “I don’t wanna marry someone like you either, Shoko! Blehhh!”
And you feel a tug of your arm towards her in retaliation, your body simply going limp as you just allow it to happen. “(name) and I would be a good fit, though. Maybe I’ll ask my mama to set up a marriage with her.”
Oh. You recognise that lilt in her voice, that sneaky grin on her face—
She’s teasing him. And doing very well at it.
“Haah?! Have ya gone insane, ya ugly hag?!” And it’s almost painful— With how hard he tugged you towards him.
“Maybe you’ve failed to consider how unmarry-able you are.”
“Well, (name) thinks I’m cute, you hag!”
“Cute doesn’t mean handsome.”
Left. Right. Left. Right. You’re basically being pulled and thrown about like a ragdoll by two opposing forces as your eyes spin and your head goes even more confused. The only saviour and your saving grace now is—
“Suguruuuu!!!” Your hand reaches out towards him for help— Barely heard above the yelling between your two friends as your confusion whirls even harder. Yet all you feel is Suguru’s familiar hand holding yours— Before he joins the pile of limbs on the floor, tightly hugging your free front and stealing any free hugging space from both of your suitors.
“No. Satoru got to spend all his time beside you and you haven’t played with just me in a while.” And you know him. Know your pretty friend so well that you can almost exactly decipher what he meant.
‘I’m jealous. So this is your punishment.’
At least you all get along now, right?
——
“Another bowl please.” Your Pokemon themed bowl that your Mama found at the department store was absolutely cleared of rice, a stray grain sticking to your cheek as you grin and plead oh so cutely for seconds.
“You seem to be in a good mood today.” She chuckles as her thumb swiped at your face, her hand warm against your skin as you giggle.
“Mhm. I’m really happy today.”
“Oh? And why is that?” Her movements are slow and careful, pressing a button that made the rice cooker pop open carefully as she scoops up another paddle of rice.
“Cause I keep thinking about the movie I’m gonna watch this weekend.” The one that Satoru had been talking your ears off of as he speaks through his snacks, making Suguru click his tongue and Shoko grimace in disgust as you simply listen intently with a sparkle in your eye.
The one that you had so nervously asked for permission so that you could follow them to the theatre for as you stood before your contemplative Mama, skittishly looking up at her with a timid smile and the tooth that had finally fully grown in— An ‘adult’ tooth as everyone calls it.
“You’re growing up too fast, you know?” Her hand gently ruffles your hair as you giggle slightly, picking up your no-longer training chopsticks. You’re even using the ‘adult’ utensils too. “Soon you won’t even need me to take care of you anymore.”
“Nope!” You swallow the mouthful of rice and egg as you chew too hurriedly. “I’ll make sure to need you forever and ever, Mama.”
“Is that so?” A playful pinch to your cheek.
“Mhm.”
“And what if I grow old and wrinkly and can’t move anymore, hmm?” Her hands thread through your hair, lightly smoothing it out first before the feel of your hairbrush glides through.
(You’ve been a bit into doing your hair a lot recently. Shoko must have rubbed off on you.)
“Then I’ll buy you super cool robot legs so you won’t feel sad that you can’t walk!”
You’re already 10, after all.
(2 years until you present.)

Eh so I’m bored and just want to go a WR filled rant so I’m just going to go on another talk about Whiterose undoubtedly going to be Canon because of all the factors and potential and stuff we seen
So feel free to read and comment and do whatever in regards to this but but i will let you know that if you approach my post and be negative or a troll, just going to ignore ya
Anyways, let’s begin with the rant by starting off with the most obvious part: Patterns/Soulmates
Starting off with this part, it’s relatively simple idea to get across when I say… There is a literal pattern that shows how all Partner ships are going to be canon and why it makes sense they would be canon. Which one of the strongest pieces that prove this point being the whole pattern of opposites attract that balance each other out.
Something that can be greatly seen with Ships like Bumblebly, Arkos, and Rennora, All canon partner ships.
And this is something that can especially be with Whiterose and with how Ruby and Weiss are practical opposites since the beginning but they greatly balance each other and greatly understand each other better than anyone.
They are Fire and Ice, the warmth and the cold, now with Vacuo and what we see with Ruby/the schnee family, The Hero and the Villain.
However, despite their differences or how opposite they are, we see how Ruby and Weiss balance each other out. With Ruby’s warm personality balancing out Weiss cold personality or how Weiss fighting style helps to balance out and support Ruby’s fighting style
And we see how well that balance helps the other out… and happens when Ruby and Weiss are unable to balance the other out
But another fact we should take note when it comes to the whole pattern is how, so far, all canon partner ships all seem to be soulmates and that can be heavily supported by how the partner selection ceremony from V1 seems to be based on soulmates with the whole idea behind being that Partners selection are left up fate/destiny.
Literally thrown into a forest and are meant to run into someone and make eye contact with them for them to be your partner for coming years, something that literally can be drawn out and seen as a thing for soulmates/a soulmate concept (heck, the eye contact stuff with is something I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a lot of soulmate Au’s or stories use).
But ultimately there are other factors and things that make the whole pattern very obvious or some stuff that just just describe the pattern and the whole soulmate stuff, but honestly that’s just going to lead me to figuring some other stuff and then talking and ranting more and more and not talking about the other points
So moving on, let’s now talk about Potential
Starting off, let me just go ahead and say that this is probably going to be a short point I’m going to talk and that it is essentially me just saying that out of all the ships for Ruby or Weiss, Whiterose is the one ship that really only has the potential/has the greatest amount of potential to be canon.
Why? Well that’s very simple, incredibly simple actually
Ruby and Weiss are the two people who greatly need to talk to each other and greatly need a heart to heart moment in RWBY. They are both practically tied to each other arc’s now due to stuff that happened back in V8 and V9 as well as now how quite literally, they are both the only people who can give the other what they are missing… what they need to be whole again.
They are tied in that, back in V9, they both failed each other and feel significant guilt over that failure for each other… and undoubtedly have a desire to try and be their for the other or do something to apologize/make up for that failure in V10 and beyond, much the same as a few other ships.
They are tied in that they are both the only person that can give what the other needs with Ruby being the one person who can/has already given Weiss a place she can call home again among team RWBY and Weiss is the only other character who can be the one who will always be by Ruby’s side and fill the missing void left by Summer and Penny, be the one to help put Ruby back together through being someone can make that promise to remain and to always believe in her no matter what.
And just overall, with what happened in V9 and all the connections and how Ruby was the only to notice Weiss pain about Atlas or Weiss was the one who truly understood what was wrong with Ruby and why she was hurting as badly as she was without telling anyone
It’s very clear as to why Whiterose will become canon from looking at how much potential they have and how their relationship will have a major role in V10
But another way is to look at how much growth their relationship has already gone through and easily determine through that growth the ship being canon
What exactly do I mean by we can tell WR is going to be canon just by looking at the growth of the relationship so far? Again, very simple
Much like every ship that is so far canon and so far every development, a major factor in each partner ship is how the characters within each ship causes the other to grow and change in different ways.
For example
With the Bees you have how Blake and Yang gradually help bring out the best in the other with Blake being more joyful and happy and Yang being more calmer and patient/less prone to anger, or how both Blake and Yang were able to help them to change and realize that they are worthy of love and not afraid of it
Or
With Arkos how Pyrrha helps to train and make Jaune not just a better fighter/leader but genuinely more strong willed and courageous, or how after Pyrrha’s death, while being the reason Jaune pursued such a path, being the one who ultimately managed to get Jaune to change and move on from the pain and sorrow and instead honor her memory then avenge
But how is that his all relevant to Whiterose and how they grow, well, it’s because Ruby and Weiss help each other to grow and change in that way as well
Ruby helps Weiss to change and become genuinely more warmer and more understanding and patient, to become less of a ice queen and rather someone who is far more supportive, inspiring, kinder, and warms
Weiss helps Ruby to change and become more of a better fighter/leader and to help her become more understanding and determined, to no longer be the anxious girl just starting beacon to the brave and strong huntress who stands up and manages to inspire the world to work together.
And we know this to be the case with how “one small act of kindness brings about marvelous change” or however the blacksmith puts it, we see that with Ruby and Weiss, and with all the other partners
We see that with how Weiss back in V1, with a single moment of kindness of showing that she believes in Ruby and sees she can be a great leader as well as a promise to be the best teammate
Help to change the two to become far better then ever and to grow in ways that are quite marvelous indeed
And we also don’t see just positive changes, we all some negative changes or pushes that causes thing to happen
With all ships and WR especially
Bees have the losing one another causing them to change both negatively and positively, Arkos has Jaune losing Pyrrha and pursuing revenge changing negatively first and then ending in a positive manner, Ren and Nora separating in V8 and being lost/confused on who they are and what they want in a negative sort of change til after they reunite and figure out what they want first
Ruby and Weiss change negatively in V9 and most likely a part of V10 for Weiss with how Ruby lacks Weiss as a major pillar of support and how she misunderstands Weiss words or what she is doing, causing her to break her mask finally and to let out all that she been bottling up/hiding away (though this does lead later to how Ruby learns she is just enough/she doesn’t have to be perfect). As for Weiss, we don’t fully see the effects yet and don’t see how much Weiss is going to negatively change from some events but due to JL part 2 and how Weiss character is… needless to say it’s probably going to be something
Either way, just from looking at Ruby and Weiss is growth, we can tell that they are incredibly important to each other and they are very special for each other.
But overall
There is many ways to see how Ruby and Weiss are incredibly special to each other and especially how Whiterose is undoubtedly going to become canon. Many things that can be pointed to and just a whole bunch of cute stuff
But overall, I hope you all enjoyed this little talk I did and had a good time reading it or whatever, I might make a part 2 in another couple of months for the heck of it because why not, it’s fun and it just something to do during the hiatus
Let me know your thoughts

“Where would be the fun in telling you the whole story?” the villain asked. They leaned forward in their chair, handcuffs rattling. “C’mon, you’re clever. Surprise me.”
“I know you’ve murdered a supervillain. An incredibly powerful non-human being. Someone, well, something I’ve been chasing after for years.” The hero crossed their arms in front of their chest. Was it really that easy? An entire threat being reduced to nothing because of the villain? “People might start calling you a hero.”
“A hero? Would that make me your what? Partner?”
“Well, right now you’re under investigation for murder. Even if it’s a supervillain, it’s still a crime.” The hero couldn’t wrap their head around why the villain would kill an ally that easily. It wasn’t like the villain was a particularly active one. More or less, they were like a puppet master, controlling other people from behind the scenes. That was dangerous enough in itself but the villain being active, being a threat instead of controlling the threads was even more worrying.
“You are the one who questioned the supervillain’s humanity just now. They’re something, not someone,” the villain pointed out.
That was foul. Using the hero’s words against them wasn’t new but both of them were fully aware of the contradiction here — was it wrong to kill a bad person? And was it right to get convicted for that?
“Is that a confession?”
The villain cocked their head, smirking even.
“You tell me. Is that enough to lock me up?”
“The evidence speaks for itself.”
“You’re drawing conclusions based on assumptions,” the villain argued. “And after all, they were a friend of mine. Why on earth should I kill someone who’s my friend?”
Indeed, the motive was the only inexplicable part in all of this.
“We have found samples of your DNA at the crime scene.”
“The victim and I used to meet there quite often to discuss work. You can ask my employees, I have a perfect record of my whereabouts for the last few months.” They looked the hero up and down, as if this was a date instead of an interrogation. They smiled when the hero’s eyes met theirs.
“You have bruises on your arms,” the hero pointed out. “The…victim was struggling before they died. There was quite the fight.”
Suddenly, the villain didn’t look as amused as before.
“You have bruises on your arms as well,” they said.
The hero blushed.
Unfortunately, a week ago the hero had actually attempted to take down the supervillain. They’d been beaten to a horrific degree and only thanks to modern medicine, they were walking and breathing.
Two days ago, some of the supervillain’s henchmen had “visited” the hero to make sure they’d gotten the message. They were still limping, refusing to go back to their medic again.
“My bruises are from practice. You can ask my martial arts teacher, I was with him yesterday.” They eyed the hero’s bruises, so the hero pushed down their sleeves.
The hero sighed.
“I’m sure all your ‘employees’ and your ‘martial arts teacher’ are in on this?” The hero closed their eyes, letting their hand go over their face a couple of times. “I know it was you. But…why? I’m a good detective. I will get more evidence. And I will most certainly figure out why you did it.”
The villain stared at them, their interest focused on the index finger the hero was holding up. They looked up at the hero eventually.
“Don’t break your pretty little head thinking too much about it, hm?”

A Courtship Christmas: Chapter 4
Notes: Hello! With the Sonadow tag booming right now after the movie, we have a LOT of new readers! I want to welcome everyone along for the ride, and thank you all for joining! Hope you all enjoy this chapter and check out my blog’s writing masterpost for more of my work! Also a quick reminder that this series was started before the movie came out, so there will be minor inconsistencies with the canon movies but nothing too major.
Summary: Shadow faces the ghost of Christmas past.
Courtship Series Masterpost!
Link to my AO3!
Start:
Sonic can’t find his voice. He can’t find his sanity, actually, because this is insane!! Maria can’t be alive! She died! It’s part of Shadow’s whole angsty backstory that made him into the anti-hero he is today! Sonic is pretty sure he’d know if he got such a big plot point like that wrong. And yet here standing before him is a girl with long, blonde hair, big, blue eyes, and that same wide, bright smile Sonic has seen in all the pictures. She’s wearing a red Christmas sweater and some matching ear muffs instead of her typical headband and rainbow colored sweater— but it’s still her, right???
“Are you okay??” she quirks a brow at him, her face turning to one of slight amusement but also one of concern, “You look a little.. green.”
Her accent is definitely Polish which Sonic doesn’t remember Shadow mentioning at any point. He assumed she just sounded like Gerald when she talked.
It takes Sonic way too long to answer, but he eventually does. And when he does, it maybe overcompensates a bit and is way too energetic.
“That’s funny!” Sonic practically yells with the widest smile he’s ever mustered, “Because I’m usually told I’m blue! Ha!”
She flinches slightly at his suddenly louder voice, but her smile remains as she gives a little giggle, “You’re weird..”
Sonic snorts at this, blushing a bit as he realizes that yeah, he’s being weird. He should stop.
“Well I am alien, in my defense,” Sonic smirks, leaning against the door by pulling it closer to him, so that she can’t see inside.
“That’s true,” she grins, tilting her head at him, “So what’s your name then?”
“I’m Sonic,” he answers quickly, “I came with Shadow.”
Saying he’s his boyfriend still feels so bold, and with his nerves already worked up currently, he may throw up if he adds to that.
“I assumed,” she giggles, rocking back and forth from her toes to her heels with her hands clasped behind her back and her eyes watching him filled with wonder and curiosity, “You two look a lot alike from what I’ve seen in pictures of him.”
“We get that a lot,” Sonic chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck and finding himself sweating a bit. Is it hot in here?? It’s definitely hot in here, right.
“So he’s here then??” she asks, her brows knitting with a hopeful smile, “Sorry if I sound pushy, I’ve just been dying to meet him.”
Very poor choice of words there, kiddo.
“Uhh..,” Sonic clears his throat, thinking on his feet before answering as casually as he can, “He’s kinda napping, right now.. we’re from a different time zone and all, so he’s pretty beat. Didn’t get much sleep last night, and we got up pretty early to get here.”
“Oh,” her smile falters only slightly, but she stays upbeat for the most part, “That’s okay! I can wait then. Wouldn’t want him grumpy from being tired. Though, he’s pretty grumpy in general, right??” She giggles at this, talking like she knows him when she clearly doesn’t.. or does she?
“Right..,” Sonic says with an uneasy and lopsided smile, “..I’m sorry, I’ll tell him you stopped by. What was your name again??..”
”Where are my manners?” she rolls her eyes at herself, holding her hand out to him for him to shake, “I’m Marzia. Marzia Robotnik.”
“Marzia,” Sonic repeats slowly, eyes never leaving her as he reaches a hand out to shake hers.
That’s.. real close to Maria.
None of this is sitting great with him.
“It’s nice to meet you,” he smiles nonetheless.
“You too, Sonic,” she grins, nodding her head as she retracts her hand from his, “You both will be at dinner, right??”
“Uhh- Hope to be!” he grins nervously, not offering any promises.
“Good,” she giggles before backing up, “I’ll let you two settle in and rest. Please tell Shadow I am so glad he’s here when he wakes up!”
“I will!”
And with that, she’s running off down the hall again, Mr. Tanaka waiting for her at the end of the hall with a smile on his face as he places a hand on her head and escorts her back down the stairs.
Sonic waits until they’re out of sight before he’s quickly closing the door and pressing his back to it, eyes wide and staring at Shadow now who is looking right back at him from the bed with fear in his eyes.
“Who was it??” Shadow asks before Sonic even has a chance to think of how to explain what he just saw, let alone tell Shadow, “You look like you’ve seen a ghost..”
“Well,” Sonic chokes out in an unusually high-pitched tone, clearing his throat before trying again, “It-… I-… dude, I’m not sure what I just saw..”
“What do you mean??” Shadow asks with knitted brows, more anxiety seeming to pour into his tone as his fingers curl into the comforter on either side of himself.
“Okay— let’s just breathe a second,” Sonic offers, walking towards Shadow again, but Shadow isn’t having it.
“Sonic..”
“We don’t know anything for certain, and we’ve seen some crazy shit— but not that crazy, right??”
“Sonic, what is it???”
“You’re stressed out as is, Shadow, and I don’t wanna make things worse because I’m misunderstanding something or jumping to conclusions—“
Shadow grabs Sonic by his wrists when Sonic is close enough and clutches them together in front of him, the both of them meeting eyes and Sonic’s heart stops. Shadow looks so scared.. so vulnerable.. and so lost.
“Just tell me.”
Sonic swallows.
“I think I just talked to Maria..”
Shadow blinks, big, brown eyes laced with crimson searching Sonic’s own emerald ones as if looking for some sort of cruel joke or a hint of sarcasm that he’s not catching. Shadow never has been the best at catching onto vocal cues when it comes to making jokes or being witty, but he’s certain he’s missing nothing here. Sonic is serious. Very much so. He looks just as shocked and scared as Shadow imagines he himself looks..
“But… but that’s impossible, right?? I mean, maybe I’m missing something here—“
Sonic can’t even finish the thought before Shadow is gone. The sound of air shoes kicking on and then a gust of wind, and Sonic is left standing at an empty bedside with Shadow having fled out the door.
“Fuck,” Sonic curses in a whisper before speeding off after him.
He should’ve worded that better. He shouldn’t have dropped it on him like that.
Shadow is racing down the stairs already, sliding down the railing with zero care to being a good guest at this point.
How could Maria be here???
How could she be alive???
Perhaps they managed to save her after the GUN invasion, and he was none the wiser??? Or maybe they cloned her??? They’re Robotnik’s, he doesn’t know what sort of mad scientry they’re capable of, but cloning isn’t far off the realm of possibilities with everything Shadow himself has endured. Or maybe time travel?? Or dimension hopping?? With chaos being experimented with, it’s quite possible—
He skids to a stop at the bottom of the stairs, his ear twitching at the sound of voices in the library..
“Shadow, wait—!”
He hears Sonic hiss from the top of the stairs, but he ignores this. His eyes are wide as he quickly steps to the doorway of the library and looks for the hosts of the voices.
There’s a group of children there. Two boys and a girl. Shadow hardly notices the boys, though. His eyes are locked wide and far too full of hope to be hesitant on the girl..
She’s facing away from him. Her hair long, about to her waist. Blonde. She’s about the same height Maria was.. same build. She’s got her hands on her hips and is scolding the two boys currently— all the same spunk and defensiveness as Maria can be seen from that alone.
He approaches her quietly. Slowly. Carefully.
His heart is pounding so hard in his ears, he can barely hear what she’s saying.
“He’s sleeping!” her voice sounds like Maria’s, just a different accent.. maybe she picked it up from living here?? “You two are going to just have to be patient and let him rest! He’s not a toy, he’s a person! He doesn’t have to tend to your beck and call just because you want to see him right now!”
“Uhh, Marzia?” one of the boys says, interrupting her tantrum with wide eyes staring at Shadow approaching from behind her.
“Don’t interrupt me!”
“Look..”
She pauses at this, following the boy’s pointing finger behind her and turning to find Shadow standing there a few feet before her..
Her eyes widen down at him..
Her big… brown eyes..
They’re… brown..
Sonic stands in the doorway watching, his own eyes wide in concern and fear at the sight before him.
This is either going to be really good or really bad..
“You’re awake,” she smiles, her eyes twinkling from the reflection of the fireplace as she grins at him.
Shadow just stares..
She looks just like her. Freckles speckled across her face— Shadow use to count them.. he wonders if this girl has ninety-eight, too. Same button nose. Same blonde hair that was unruly from antics she had been up to, never one to sit still..
Same pale skin..
But there’s differences..
The mole under her lower lip on the right side is missing. Her eyebrows are darker in color, making her face appear less soft than Maria’s had been and more defined..
and her eyes…
The cool, clear blue eyes that reminded him of the night sky right as the stars began to appear in it…
They were replaced by brown pools of mud. Like chocolate, or a deep caramel.
Not familiar.
Not hers.. not his Maria’s..
“I..,” Shadow tries, but his voice fails him. His hand twitches at his side as if to reach but he doesn’t. Instead it clenches there, shaky..
Sonic watches helplessly from the doorway, his eyes folding back and his tail sagging behind him as his frown becomes more prominent..
It’s not her..
Shadow is quiet for too long.
The boys behind the Maria-look-alike grow impatient with him.
“Come on then,” one spats with a huff, “Talk!”
Shadow flinches at the sudden snap from his daze, blinking his glossy eyes over to the red-headed boy who appears a year or two older than the girl.
“Yeah, come on! Show us what makes you so special!” the youngest of the children speaks, strawberry blond and full of freckles. He too seems impatient with Shadow.
“Stop being so rude!” the girl snaps at the two, turning to them again to stomp her foot at them, “You’re going to scare him off!”
Shadow stumbles back a few steps, feeling like the world is spinning and his heart is failing. Sonic takes a few steps forward to meet him halfway, catching Shadow in his arms with his chest pressed to the hybrid’s back and his arms hugged up under his partner’s.
“Shads, easy..,” he whispers, brows knit up tight as he presses his hand in Shadow’s chest fur to rest over his heart, “I’m right here. You’re okay. Just breathe—“
“Don’t touch me—“ Shadow twists in his arms, feeling incredibly overwhelmed and overstimulated as the three children bicker before him. Managing to jerk from Sonic’s hold, he turns to rush out of the room only to be halted in his tracks by a woman now standing in the doorway of the library.
Terra.
He recognizes her from photos on file Rouge had collected.
“I see the children have made their introduction. Rather rudely, if I may add,” her voice comes loud and stern, her eyes glaring at the three bickering kids in front of the fireplace.
They each three stop immediately, wide eyes staring at her before they all apologize in unison, “Sorry, Grandma Terra..”
The two boys look grouchy about their apology, but the girl seems genuine. Disappointed in herself.
“Mm..,” the woman sighs before returning her gaze to Shadow, “I too apologize. I.. didn’t want you to be introduced this way. I had hoped to greet you for myself beforehand..”
Shadow stares up at her, still feeling dazed and dizzy but trying his best to regain his composure and not make a scene by rushing out now that his host was here.
He doesn’t speak. So Terra continues.
“Would you and your friend care to join me in my office?” she tilts her head at him, Shadow staying quiet a moment before nodding a bit reluctantly.
She nods in return before turning to walk down the hall, “Follow me, then.”
Shadow spares a glance back to Sonic who is watching him as if for permission to join them. Shadow merely offers an apologetic knit of his brows for his momentary outburst towards him only moments ago before reaching a hand out for Sonic’s.
Sonic takes it without a thought, following him down the hall behind their host.
She isn’t at all what Sonic had been expecting. Perhaps he had been expecting someone older and more brittle. This woman was nothing like that.
She did in fact look like a grown up Maria. But her hair was more strawberry than blonde, a few gray streaks in it that had come from age. It was pinned up neatly on top of her head, her skin resembling porcelain without freckle or blemish, but having a few wrinkles in the corners of her eyes and around her lips. She wore a nice, red top that had a bow on one shoulder, and a formal black skirt with black boots to match. She looked very professional, very put-together, very classy.
She was intimidating… but not scary.
“I want to apologize again for not being able to greet you,” she sighs once they reach a closed door, opening it and turning on the light to reveal the warm and comfortable office inside, “I was tending to some business with my lawyer with GUN, and—“
She pauses when Shadow’s eyes meet hers, sighing quietly through her nose before offering a small smile, “None of that is why you’re here, though. So let’s not talk about that, hm?”
Shadow merely nods a bit before walking himself and Sonic into the office, Terra closing the door behind them.
“Now for proper introductions,” she says with a softer smile, “I’m Terra Robotnik,” she holds her hand out. Shadow stares at it a bit too long since he’s holding onto Sonic’s hand with his dominant one for comfort, so Sonic quickly shakes it himself with his own free hand.
“I’m Sonic,” Sonic introduces, gaining the attention of the woman, “Shadow RSVP’d a plus one? That’s me.”
“Pleasure to meet you, Sonic,” she nods politely, “I trust your travels here were safe?”
“Oh yeah. Nothing like a good ‘ole warp ring to get ya places quick!”
She blinks at this before offering a breathy little laugh, “Right, um-… And you’re Shadow..”
Her gaze returns to Shadow who still looks pretty out of it. His eyes are foggy and his cheeks look paler than normal.
He doesn’t shake her hand.
Instead, he looks right at this woman after a long moment of staring at nothing and speaks in a rattled and raspy voice, “Who is she??”
Sonic’s brows knit at this, squeezing Shadow’s hand a bit tighter in his own to try and calm his nerves some. But Shadow doesn’t seem too reachable at the moment. He needs answers. Explanations. And he needs them now.
The woman seems to know immediately what he’s talking about, sighing before retracting her extended hand towards him and moving to her desk,
“She would be my daughter.”
She opens the top drawer of her desk to pull out an album, opening it up to pull out one photo from the front and another from the back.
“Her name is Marzia,” she explains softly, sliding the two photos across her desk for Shadow to see for himself. He steps over to investigate the two.. one being of Maria before she passed. Another of the strange girl from the library.. they’re nearly identical.
“It’s.. uncanny, yes?” Terra chuckles breathlessly, her smile bittersweet, “…I never knew my sister. She was gone before I was born,” she explains softly, her eyes lifting to look at Shadow who is now picking the photos up to look at the more closely. Compare the two.
“But I looked at her photos all the time growing up.. watched the old home videos. And as my darling daughter grew older, it was undeniable that she took after her deceased aunt..”
“How old is she?” Shadow asks quietly, eyes never leaving the photos.
“She’ll be twelve next year,” she answers quietly, “I had her late in life—“
“Where is her father??”
“There isn’t one,” and this gains Shadow’s attention, curious eyes looking up at her now, Sonic taking the chance to step closer and look at the photos for himself. It is uncanny..
“I had my eggs frozen when I was thirty..,” she explained, “As you can imagine, family was a difficult thing for me growing up. My parents thought having me would fill the void in their life that Maria had left.. sadly, they never were the same.. divorce was inevitable. I blamed myself for not being good enough. For not being more like my sister.. I idolized her for a long time.. and then I hated her.. now I simply miss her.. which is silly because I never met her,” she admits with a little knit in her brow, Shadow looking at her with a purposely neutral expression. Void of emotion..
“..I never married. I dove myself into my studies, my work. I didn’t have time for trivial things like relationships or love.., but as I got older, I thought that perhaps I’d regret this one day. Life has a way of making you question the present constantly and always look to the future by studying your past, you see. So I had my eggs frozen. It was the best decision I ever made, too. The father was simply an anonymous sperm donor that I selected based on his file, and the egg grew until the embryo was ready to be implanted in surrogate’s uterus— carrying her myself at my age was a risk I didn’t want to take.. nine months later, I had my baby girl. And it was like fate had mocked me with how much she resembled my sister. But never once did I not love that girl.. not for a moment.”
Shadow listens in silence, his eyes staring straight into Terra’s as if to tell if there’s any deception behind them. He sees none. Just a woman who has endured a lot in her lifetime.
“…Once I had her, family became far more important to me,” she explains with a sigh, “I reached out to family I hadn’t in years. My first cousins..”
This gains Sonic’s attention, eyes snapping up to her as he speaks without really meaning to, “Even—“
“Ivo, yes,” she admits with a roll of her eyes, “He was a Robotnik scorned by our grandfather’s sins, too. I thought perhaps he’d understand.. instead, it seems he’s followed in his footsteps.”
Sonic snorts, “That’s an understatement.”
“Indeed,” she shrugs, “It’s a shame. I think if he had been loved properly and seen how he could be happy with a family, things may have been different for him..”
It’s an odd thought. A world without Eggman.
Would Shadow even be here awake now without him?? Or would Knuckles and Tails be part of the Wachowski’s???
Sonic doesn’t know, but he doesn’t wanna think about it either.
So he doesn’t.
“What made you reach out to me??” Shadow asks the inevitable question now, “…Why now??..”
The woman takes a long breath, moving to pull out her office chair and take a seat at her desk with a heavy sigh. She gestures to the two seat in front of the desk for Sonic and Shadow to sit as well, Sonic being the first to do so and Shadow watching him before reluctantly doing the same.
They hold hands.
The woman looks at their joined hands and seems to take note of this but says nothing of it.
“..For a long time, GUN lied about what happened on the ARK,” she explains, her eyes staring blankly at the door now, “Maria was sick.. my parents had done all they could for her, but there was nothing that could be done here on earth.. Gerald Robotnik swore he could cure her if he could only take her to the ARK. My parents weren’t so easily persuaded, having little faith in Gerald’s research.. so he took her by force.”
Shadow takes note she calls him ‘Gerald’. Not Grandfather.
He also takes note that Maria was taken by force.. something he wasn’t aware of.
“GUN showed up at my parents’ doorstep. There was no arrest or guns drawn, but it was made very clear that this wasn’t optional. Maria was part of Gerald’s bargaining with GUN to work for them. So they took her. She was none-the-wiser, my parents not wanting her to be scared. They knew Gerald was insane, but he’d never hurt her. He loved her far too much. So they packed her things and told her they’d write her letters and send her care packages every month that GUN sent supplies to the station.. and she left with Gerald under the guise that this would cure her. That she’d come home..”
Terra takes another deep breath, blinking away some mist from her eyes as they fall on Shadow, “…We both know she never did..”
Shadow doesn’t say anything, brows furrowed a bit as he looks at her. Sonic squeezes his hand a bit tighter..
“…For many years, my family was told that it was Gerald’s experiment that had gone rogue. That Gerald had dealt with forces far beyond his control and paid the price.. we thought—,” her voice cracks, brows furrowed as she stares down at her desk with a mix of loss and anger. She blinks a few tears away, shame in her eyes as she looks at Shadow, “We thought you had killed her…”
Shadow’s brows knit a bit at that, his jaw tight and his fingers clutching around Sonic’s tight.
The very idea he’d ever bring harm to Maria in any way.. it made him sick.
It was moments like these that his faith in GUN dwindled. That it became hard to see the good in them. How they’ve grown, how they’ve changed for the better.. how Shadow is doing good with them now..
“..I was brought into this world believing that Project Shadow had taken my older sister from me,” she whispers quietly, leaning across her desk to pick up the picture of Maria and look at it, “…My hate for you ran deep.. the very thing that was meant to cure my sister… destroyed her..”
Shadow’s ears twitch back at that, Sonic’s brows furrowing at her poor choice of words..
He doesn’t like this.. doesn’t like how little Shadow’s feelings are being taken into consideration with all of this. He was invited here with no explanation. He was bombarded with a Maria look-a-like with no warning. And now he was being put through the emotional ringer and for what??
So the Robotniks could get some closure and feel better about themselves??? Shadow wasn’t their charity case. He wasn’t there to make them look good or feel redeemed in some way.
He went through more than any of them..
Sonic’s quills rise a bit in defense..
“But when the Project Shadow’s files were leaked to the public.. I discovered the truth,” she continues, looking to Shadow then, “…She was taken from both of us.”
Shadow doesn’t speak. Doesn’t feel he had the right to.. he had failed this family in so many ways.. sure, he hadn’t been the one to kill her. But he hadn’t cured her, either..
It was his creation that led to her demise..
“…So here I am, Shadow,” she uses his name, at least, “…trying. I’m trying to understand my sister,” a tear falls from her eyes now, her voice shaking and her hand holding Maria’s picture trembling. “I’m trying to understand why she loved you so much.. why she was willing to—“ her voice cracks, swallowing as she tries again, “to sacrifice her precious life for yours.. the life of a simply little hedgehog that talks.. what makes your life so much more important than hers.. that she’d give hers up instead of come back home to us all—“
“Okay, that’s enough,” Sonic rises from his chair, Shadow flinching at the movement. He was shaking. Quivering. He looks like he’s lived the horrors of the ARK all over again, like he’s reliving it all and left scared and paralyzed by what has happened. Sonic won’t stand for it.
He moves to stand between Shadow and Terra, his brows furrowed and jaw locked, “He’s not here to help you understand. He was here looking for family. If you’re too blind to see what makes Shadow so special— to see what made Maria so special??? That’s on you.”
“Sonic..,” Shadow’s voice comes quiet and weak behind him.
“You obviously know nothing about your sister if you don’t know that it wasn’t Shadow, it was just her being her. You don’t deserve answers if you can’t even see them when they’re right in front of you.”
“Sonic..”
“How dare you??? Invite him here for what— just to make you feel less like your grandfather??”
“Sonic!”
Sonic stops at that, turning to look at Shadow and see him looking up with a pleading expression.
Sonic’s quills lower a bit at this, his eyes softening slightly at the sight of his distressed boyfriend..
Then he looks back to Terra with a glare, her eyes locked wide on his as well.
“…We’re out of here.”
He grabs Shadow’s hand and drags him up out of his chair, pulling him to the door without giving him much of an option.
Shadow looks back at Terra as he’s pulled along, watching her wide and teary eyes as the door is opened. When he turns back around, he sees that little girl sitting there outside the door. She’s knocked back— having been listening with her ear pressed to the door.
Marzia.
Sonic doesn’t pay her much mind, stepping around her with Shadow’s hand still in his and a mumbled “Sorry, kid.”
Shadow’s eyes watch her as they step over her, her own eyes big and round and distressed by their exit.
“Wait!” she calls, trying to scramble to her feet now to catch up to the two, “Wait— Shadow!”
Sonic ignores this, tugging Shadow still. He won’t allow this. He won’t sit by while they all use Shadow like this and leave Shadow with nothing but an even more broken heart and heavier guilt. He won’t.
Shadow’s head turns to Sonic, pulling his hand from Sonic’s but Sonic snatches his wrist instead.
“Sonic, wait—“
“We’re leaving, Shadow.”
Shadow swallows hard, head turning back to the little girl as she manages to get to her feet and chase them a few steps— then she falls back to the ground with a little grunt, her breathing sounding wheezy and ragged..
Her hand reaches out to him weakly.
“Shadow..”
Shadow’s eyes widen at this, his mind flashing back to a similar image where Maria had been lying bloody on the ground reaching for him..
‘Sayonara, Shadow the Hedgehog..‘
His hand jerks from Sonic’s, Sonic spinning around but not able to stop him before he’s rushing down the hall back to the little girl.
Crouching down beside her in an instant, his hand moves to hold hers and help her sit up a bit, his other hand rubbing her back in slow circles as she looks up at him with teary, brown eyes.
“Breathe..,” he whispers quietly, brows knit up tight as he demonstrates by breathing in slowly through his nose and then out his mouth. Deep and deliberate.
She nods, sniffling a bit before she slowly takes a deep breath in and then blows it out as he demonstrates..
“Do you have an inhaler?” he asks, his voice so soft and gentle and nearly a wisp in the wind with how quiet it is.
She nods, still trying to match his breathing as she points a bit shaky towards the stairs, “I-in my room..”
Shadow’s eyes turn to Sonic then, looking at him in silent desperation.
And as much as Sonic hates the reason they’re here, this kid is innocent. And Shadow… Shadow needs this, right now. To help her..
So he doesn’t hesitate to dash up the stairs and find the girls room, searching and finding her inhaler in a matter of seconds before returning to the hall to hand it to Shadow who then hands it to her..
Sonic has never seen this side of Shadow.. the kind to mend.. heal..
She takes a couple of deep breaths of the inhaler, her breathing evening out now. Sonic’s eyes drift up to see Terra standing in the doorway with wide eyes, watching the entire thing. His brows furrow a bit at her, but then return to Shadow and the little girl..
Shadow’s eyes are on her. Only on her. Like she’s the only thing in the world at that moment..
Yeah..
They’re not going home, are they.

Red-haired hero
Parings: captain!shanks x female!reader
Warnings: Smut, Established relationship, fingering, oral (reader receiving), hella dirty talk bc I can’t help it, shanks cums inside reader, threats of murder, mentions of alcohol, mentions of abuse? (Not from shanks), some of the known crew members are mentioned, shanks is a bit evil bc I believe in evil shanks and love mean shanks
Summary: You get assaulted in a random bar for being a pirate but your captain and crew comes to save you just in time. Shanks then comforts you after you get frustrated about the whole situation, always being there for you.
• Being a female pirate is hard. You get no respect and everyone just always assumes you’re the weakest link. I mean you aren’t as strong all the other all stars but you’re apart of the crew and deserve just as much respect and recognition for what you do.
• Even with the knowledge that you were apart of the red-haired pirates, that didn’t stop people from messing with you.
• All you wanted to do was sit at a bar and take a break from your loud crew full of reckless men. That peace was broken when even more men came to disturb you. “Barkeep!” A loud crash was heard behind you as a group of people came rushing inside the tiny bar. “Get a few bottles ready! We just caught a large bounty!”
• Ugh. Of course it was pirate hunters too. You now wanted to get out of there as soon possible in order to avoid these buffoons. Before you could finish your sake, a man sat near you. “And how about you bring out an extra bottle for this pretty lady right here.” The man leaned towards you as the barkeep slid a bottle over to you.
• “No thanks.” You smiled sweetly at the stranger before standing up. “I’m far too tipsy to accept that. How would I make it back to my ship?”
• “Ship?” The man glared at you. “Ah. So you’re a pirate.” It came to him when he peeped the device around your wrist. “That log post is a dead giveaway.” He smirked. “Yeah, captain obvious. I’m holding it for our navigator.”
• “Speaking of..” Snatching the bottle of the bar top, you turned to strut out the bar. “And I changed my mind. I’ll take this bottle for my captain.” You giggled.
• Before you could reach the door another man stepped in front of you. “Your captain?” He leaned down to your height. “Why don’t you tell me their name? Maybe when I beat them and get their bounty you’ll realize that playing pirate is stupid.”
• “She’s only acting so big cause she thinks red hair is gonna get here in time to help her.” You lightly growled under your breath. This sleazy guy is definitely gonna get what’s coming to him, Shanks surely would be here soon, but that was the last thing you wanted to happen though. It would only prove their point. Everyone already agreed that Shanks saved your ass everytime there was trouble. “He’s my captain. Why wouldn’t he save me?”
• “Shut your mouth.” The stranger proceeded to take his bottle and pour the rest on top of your head, drenching you in booze. “I guess we’ll just wait here for your captain to come get you then. Since you refuse to tell us his name.”
• “Want my name?” A ominous voice came from outside the door to the bar. You knew exactly who was behind that door and the voice that was attached to it. When he finally arrived to the scene and bust through the door with the whole crew you bit your lip in embarrassment. You hated this part. The part when all the strong men came to save your ass. “It’s Shanks.”
• You could hear gasps and gulps the moment shanks revealed himself. Some knew him by face but everyone knew him by name. An infamous emperor of the sea.
• “There’s so much commotion coming from this dainty bar.” Shanks said while he slowly strutted towards the bartender.
• “It’s like you guys are having a party!” Yassop leaned near you on the ground and put a hand on your back to help you sit up. “It’s funny seeing our crew member here.” Yassop gazed up at the man who grabbed your hair earlier. “All these men in here and not one of you helped her up?” Everyone avoided Yassop’s gaze and looked as if they wanted to piss their pants.
• “Can hardly call any of them ‘men’, can you?” Benn grunted out.
• “So.” The red-haired man pulled his sword out and stabbed it into the wooden bar top. “Why’d everyone go quiet? Weren’t we celebrating something?”
• Lucky roux pointed at the wall and let out a loud laugh. “Heya, captain! Come check this out!” When the other crew members looked over, they also let out laughs across the room. “They got all our wanted posters hung up on the wall!”
• “Awee. You guys must be big fans of us.” Lucky roux said as he snickered.
• The bar goers who were all bullying you so viciously earlier, were now as quiet as a mouse. Sure they had no problem when it was just a defenseless woman but now that the others arrived, they wanted nothing to do with you. “Well..emperors don’t t-typically dock on our little island..haha..” the bartender peeped out quietly. “I don’t really care about all that.” Shanks stayed serious, unlike his crew mates. “I wanna know why our crew member is on the floor and drenched?” Shanks then lifted his nose up in your direction and shook his head. “Drenched in what appears to be alcohol no less.” He scoffed. “What a waste of good booze.”
• “Please, sir!” The bartender put his hands up. “We’re all very sorry for what we did.” Shanks grabbed hold of his sword again, pulling it out the wood and pointing it in the air. “The person I point this sword at better run.” Everyone in the bar went still.
• The stranger from earlier that poured his drink on you had begun to run before shanks even let his sword leave the air. Benn made sure to trip the dude before he could get too far. Shanks turned in his direction and chuckled. “How did you know it was gonna be you?”
• “Are y-you really gonna kill me?” Only Shanks could make a grown man truly cry in front of an audience.
• “Nah. That’s not up to me. Y/n’s a big girl, She can make her own decisions.” He looked towards you. “If she doesn’t want us to cause a riot then I won’t.” The pirate then faced and walked towards the crying guy on the floor. “But if she decides that you hurt her too badly..” shanks glared the man down so harshly that the drunken fool had started trembling. “Then I’ll fucking kill everyone in this bar and spray your blood on the walls for the next fucker that decides to screw with y/n.”
• Yassop hollered out a loud laugh while smacking his leg. “Whew. You guys really made our captain mad.” Lucky roax joined in on the laughter. “That’s a recipe for disaster!”
• “More like a recipe for death.” Benn chimed in.
• “Enough.” You called out from the corner of the bar. “I’ll be fine.” You quickly walked over to shanks and put a hand on his chest to calm him down. “I think they’ve learned their lesson.”
• “You sure?” He lowered his weapon momentarily to look into your eyes. Making sure his full attention was on you. He leaned down and whispered in your ear. “You know what I’d do for you. Just say the word.” He put his sword back on his hip so that he could stroke your arm with his hand. “Don’t be afraid to speak up.” “I’m not afraid of these fools.”
• “I mean don’t be afraid of what I’d do.” “I’m serious, shanks. I’m fine.”
• “Fine then.” Shanks smiled and turned back to the guy on the ground. “See how sweet she is? She just saved your life.” The man nodded. Shanks got serious again. “Say ‘thank you’ to her.”
• “T-thank you! Thank you ma’am!” He clasped his hands together to show his appreciation.
• “Let’s get outta here, captain.” Benn said as he flicked his cigarette and stepped on it. Shanks led the way and the rest of the crew followed him out of that crummy bar. Leaving all of the destruction behind. That place definitely lost a few customers that day.
• Once the two of you were back on the ship, alone in his room, you finally let off some steam. “It’s not fair.” You grunted as you kicked the wall. “I know.” He reached out to hug you and held you close against his chest. “It must be so frustrating.” You accepted him taking you into his embrace but still scoffed. “Im serious, shanks.”
• “I’m serious too, y/n.” He said as he stroked your hair with his one hand. “I hate it when someone treats my crew members like their weak. Especially over something as stupid as their gender. I mean, I didn’t add you to my crew because you’re weak.”
• You pushed away from him a bit to look up at him. “No, you added me because you wanted to fuck me. That’s even worse.” Now looking down at the ground in embarrassment. “All the other crew members know it too. I’m not an asset and I just keep your bed warm.”
• Shanks let go of you and bent down to your height to meet your eyes that were avoiding his. “Is that seriously what you think?” When you gave him no answer, he grabbed your chin to make you look at him. “If that were the case then you woulda been out the crew a while ago.” He just giggled and patted your head. “Think about it, y/n. It’s a crew full of dumb men with guns and swords.” Shanks laughed even harder like you said something hilarious. “We woulda been dead ages ago without you. All of the best crews have a smart woman secretly running shit.”
• Looking into his grey eyes mixed with his sweet words made you so weak. Only with him could you let your guard down so much. “Do you really mean that or are you still just trying to get me in bed as we speak.”
• “Oh I’m telling the full truth..” He leaned his hand against the wall behind you as he also leaned his body in for a kiss. Of course, you accepted the kiss and opened your mouth for him. For a moment he broke the kiss just to finish his sentence. “If I happen to talk my way into your pants in the process then that’s just a plus.”
• “Well it’s working.” “Good. You wanna take it to the bed then?”
• After you gave a small nod, Shanks took his arm and used it to throw you over his shoulder. Ugh. It’s not fair. Even with one arm he was still so strong. It wasn’t long before you reached the bed and he lightly tossed you down. “Since my poor baby was having such a bad day, I’ll give her a present first.”
• Shanks spread your legs and used his hand to hold your hip. He sat down in front of you so he could lean forward and place kisses all over your beautiful thighs. “I always love the way you taste. It never gets old.” While shanks continued to set kitten licks on your clit, he put one finger inside you just to be a tease. “I know I’m doing you a favor but could you do me one and beg for me?”
• “Ahh..it’s soo good, shanks.” You said while clutching onto his beautiful red hair. “Gonna cum soon!” Shanks hummed as he lapped at your pussy like it was his salvation. As if your juices and slick was holy water to him. “I’m waiting.” The moment Shanks felt you tighten around his tongue, he sent his fingers to rub quick circles on your clit to send your senses into overload. Momentarily kissing your thigh to give you extra comfort and to show his attention was fully on you. “Cum on my tongue and lemme taste all the juices this yummy cunt has to offer.”
• That was it. Just then you felt an explosion of orgasmic pleasure run through you. While you shook, shanks made sure to hold you close to him. He took his arm that was wrapped around you and reached back down to stick two fingers back in your hole that was already so sensitive. You whined and let your head fall forward onto his shoulder. Shanks only put them back in to feel your pussy clench over and over while you finished your orgasm.
• “Wow..Look at you. Haven’t even taken my cock yet and you’re already such a fucking mess. Maybe I shouldn’t fuck you tonight..” Shanks said in a teasing manner. You shook your head and reached out for him. “No! Please, I want you right now!”
• Shanks smirked and kissed your collarbone. “I know, baby. I’m just teasing ya.” Your man spent no time stripping himself of his clothing, You making sure to help him (since he only has one arm). He yanked his pants down, revealing the cock he was about to split you in half with. You’ve taken him several times but it still took some preparation for him to be able to slide in with utter ease.
• When the two of you got situated, shanks got on top of you and spread your legs, using his arm to put one of your legs up on his shoulder. “I just know your cunt can’t wait to take me.” He said as he put his tip on your clit, rubbing it a bit to see you writhe. “Look at how messy you are. Getting slick all over my sheets. You’re about to make my cock so messy too.”
• “Shanks! Please stop teasing me!” You moaned out when you felt him poke only his tip in your entrance. “I’m sorry. I’m being mean again..I forgot I’m supposed to be making you feel better.” He kissed you on the cheek as he finally pushed the rest of his shaft inside of you. He dips down and you wince at the stretch you start to feel. Shanks only just started but you already felt soo full. Groaning when he could finally get his honey around him. “Please make me cum quickly shanks..I need it now.”
• Shanks would fuck you forever if he could. It’s like your pussy was made for him. To be fair, was the one who took your virginity and he’s told you multiple times how he’d make sure that he’s the only one fucking you. The only one who gets to taste your delectable cunt. No one else would get to see you become undone the way you do with your man.
• “You are so antsy. Since it’s all about you this time, I’ll give to you quick like you asked.” Shanks took hold of your thigh again and started to pound into you at a rough pace. “Since you want to rush me you better hurry up. Cum on my dick like you did my tongue and fingers. Such a dirty girl.”
• His thrusts began to speed up and get more sloppy as he was closer to bursting inside of your warmth. “Your fucking pussy keeps clamping down on me. His lips found their way to your neck. Then your lips, Licking and sucking in an attempt to rip more moans from your plump lips. “You’re seriously the light of my life. I don’t give a fuck what anyone says. I’ll protect you no matter if they laugh.”
• Through your loud pleas for more, you could hear a light chuckle slip past his lips. “They’re all just mad that I’m the one gets to fuck you this good every night.” “Shanks..I love…I love you.” Before you could even process what you were doing, your arms flew to wrap around his broad shoulders and hug him closer to you. “Don’t want anyone else but you.”
• The red-haired man just smiled at the rose tinted expression you wore and caressed the soft skin on your cheek. “I love you too, princess.” Those fives words are the most simple in the world but it meant so much to you. Knowing that he reciprocated your feelings made the upcoming orgasm that much more important than the last.
• Beforehand, you believed he only wanted you for your virgin body but after hearing shanks actually say it, made up all the difference. “Do you mean it..?”
• “Hmm. Let’s see..” before answering your question, shanks gave a few more rough thrusts to get to his finish. “If I didn’t..I wouldn’t have just came so much in your raw cunt.” When he seen your shocked yet relieved expression, shanks knew how much you loved the feeling of his cum filling you up. Fingers grasping the sheets while you dry heave and try to regain consciousness.
• “Don’t forget that I’d do anything for you.”

Enemies to lovers with spider hazel
author's note/s: 3.6k words. spider!hazel and fellow superhero/vigilante!reader, more of a one-sided annoyances to lovers, really. think kind of supergirl-esque for reader's powers (at least in the flying and strength aspect) and to help visualize reader's mask, click here for reference.
“So that’s, what, five bad guys down for me this week now and three for you? Maybe I’ll sit back and relax tomorrow so you can catch up.”
You can’t see the face behind that mask but you’re sure there’s a shit-eating grin on it. You roll your eyes at the quip. “Oh, fuck off. It’s not a competition.”
Not that that ever changed how annoyed you got whenever the tally was higher in her favor, though. But the webslinger’s count wasn’t what really got you riled up; wasn’t even how smug she could get about it. It was the way she executed the crime fighting skills that you assumed she was learning and making up as she went. Spiderwoman was messy and, ironically, uncoordinated half the time, but the worst part was that she drew too much attention.
You knew attracting the attention of the police and the papers was inevitable, but at least you had the good sense to not make a whole show of being a vigilante. Spiderwoman, on the other hand, just loved to stay and chat.
“Hey, come on, don’t be like that. You know I’m just messing around.” There’s a drop in her tone, clearly making an attempt to ease the tension. “You’re a lot faster than I am with rounding up criminals, so you get extra points for that.”
At that, you allow yourself to smile the tiniest bit. She can’t see it behind your own mask but if she was as observant as she claimed to be, she might see however little of it reached your eyes.
She clears her throat, bringing a hand to scratch at the back of her neck as she says, “So uh, I know it’s getting late and all, but I’ve got my backpack stashed somewhere not far from here and my lunch sandwich is still intact. It’s a pretty big one so you know, if you wanted a post-crime fighting snack…”
It’s a harmless, friendly gesture so you hold back a scoff and snide comment. You get it — the business you were in was best done alone but it could get lonely after doing it for some time. Besides, masked heroes like the two of you wore masks for a reason: nobody could know who they were, and even fellow vigilantes weren’t an exception to the rule. But you supposed it would be nice to have a friend with the shared experiences.
Just… maybe not her. Or just maybe not yet. This wasn’t like making friends in school, after all.
“Not hungry,” you tell her shortly before lifting yourself off the ground, signaling that your conversation was over and you were leaving.
You hear her say something as you take off, but you can’t be bothered to look back.
Despite it being the last day of the week, you found Fridays particularly hard to get through. Mostly because you were itching for the weekend to come but because the bad guys in the city always seemed to act up during that day. The feeling in your stomach about what your evening patrol might turn out like was a mixture of both fear and excitement, but you tried your best to push it down for the time being. It was only the second period.
“You and Miss Callahan, partners,” your teacher says with a tap to your table as she strides by, listing off other pairs. You look over to Hazel who apparently is already looking at you, her eyes wide with… shock? A hint of nervousness in them too.
Weird. You were sort-of friends through the cheerleaders she was surprisingly close with, Isabel and Brittany, but you’ve never really spoken much to each other. Maybe she was worried you guys wouldn’t click without the other girls around.
You cast her a smile as she gets nearer, sliding the worksheet to the midpoint of the table. “The total number of questions is an even number, 12, so we can each get a half. But we can help each other too, of course.”
Hazel mutters something that sounds like an ‘okay,’ but she mumbles something else under her breath that you can’t quite make out.
Overall, the class goes fine. The osmosis experiment wasn’t too hard to do and the questions were manageable. It was just how Hazel acted throughout the whole hour that threw you off a little. You knew she could be as awkward as she could get excited, and sometimes she talked too much and didn’t pick up on social cues easily, but the whole time she just seemed… uncomfortable, if that was the right word. Like she really wanted to say something or do something but she couldn’t for whatever reason.
Once you’re both done cleaning up, she wastes no time in removing her laboratory coat and shoving it into her bag, but you don’t want to let her get away that easily. Gently, you place a hand on her forearm to stop her. “Hey, Hazel?”
She pauses, eyeing your hand for a second too long before looking at you. Properly looking at you. She could barely do it throughout the experiment.
“I just wanted to ask if everything’s okay?” You bring your hand back and begin to slip off your own coat. “It could be none of my business, so feel free to tell me off if you want, but you just seem a bit out of it.”
Hazel opens her mouth to speak, but her gaze quickly moves from your face to something beside you. Rather, on you; your shirt was pulled to the side while taking off the coat and it exposed the bruise at the juncture of your shoulder and collarbone. Shit.
“Oh, that’s— don’t worry about that. I just tripped and fell hard in P.E. the other day,” you say with a dismissive wave of your hand, pulling your shirt back in place. God, you hoped nothing in your voice or face was giving you away. You doubt her first assumption would be that you were one of the masked vigilantes featured on the news, but she couldn’t be thinking of anything good either if she didn’t buy your excuse.
And she didn’t. “That doesn’t look too good,” Hazel says with a frown.
“It’s fine—”
“Come with me to the locker room? I’ve got something that can probably help with that. I mean, it’s not in the locker room, it’s in my actual locker and I’ll have to go get it from there first before going to the benches, but uh… um, yeah. I-I’ve got something.”
Her ramble ends with a sigh and you can’t help but smile at how she stumbled out all those words. Funny how you were the one all concerned about her just a minute ago and now the tables were turned. You didn’t want anybody seeing your cuts and bruises, or at least didn’t want anybody asking about them, but you didn’t get to ice the one she saw just yet. You’d take whatever ointment or cream she might have stashed away in her locker if it would help.
So you nod your head and walk with her towards the door. “Alright, yeah. I’m sure you know a thing or two about treating bruises, what with all that fighting you do.”
You almost bump into her when she stops and whips her head at you sharply, that wide-eyed look back on her face. What was with her today?
“Your fight club? With Isabel and Brittany and all those other girls?”
Hazel visibly deflates and lets out a half nervous, half relieved-sounding noise at that. “Yeah, yeah! Always gotta be prepared.”
You say nothing in return and follow along to her locker, deciding not to overthink it. Hazel could just be a little odd and there was nothing wrong with that.
“Ah—”
“Sorry, sorry,” she says, being even more careful than earlier with moving your shirt and bra strap to the side to expose the bruise more.
“It’s okay, just… I think it would be easier if I took my top off for this?”
Hazel actually makes a sound when she gulps. You’re quick to add, “Only if you’re comfortable with that, no pressure at all. It’s just that the bruise kinda trails off to the back too, so…”
“Yeah, no, it’s fine. Whatever you’re more comfortable with. I’ll just…” she trails off, turning away so you can take your shirt off.
“Haze, you don’t have to do that,” you say with a chuckle. But it was instinct as it was for everyone when somebody was changing in their presence, and you knew there was an extra kick to it now for her.
Brittany and Isabel were always just poking fun, but you knew they teased Hazel about you sometimes. Both girls even asked you about your possible interest in her more than once. Hazel was cute and you did want to get to know her more, especially see how she was in that fight club because they always said she was different in that element. But considering your own after-school activities, dating was just out of the question.
Silently, Hazel turns back, cap off the tub of gel in her waiting hands. It was obvious that she was trying very hard to look nowhere else but your face and the area of the bruise, so you reach out and smile at her reassuringly. “Nothing to worry about. I know you’ve seen boobs before.”
“Well, not your boobs.”
She says it so casually that you’re both taken aback, but you just laugh. Thankfully, Hazel laughs along with you too.
You lean against the sink and she comes closer, stopping once her knees knock against yours. “Tell me if I’m pressing hard, okay?”
You smile at her again, softer this time. “Okay.”
It’s comfortably silent as she applies the gel on your bruise. High in vitamin C, she tells you at some point, cause it apparently helps bruises heal faster. Hopefully you didn’t get hit there again tonight so you could actually see if the science behind the gel worked or not.
When you turn around so she can work on the bruise’s extension on your back, you say, “That gel looks like it’s barely used. Do you have a stock of those at your fight club or do you guys just tough it out when someone gets a hit in?”
“This is my personal one, but most of us prefer to use the traditional ice packs. And unlike the rest of them, I heal pretty quickly.” Hazel smiles at your reflection in the mirror and you immediately smile back. You didn’t think it was possible for her to ever have a hint of cockiness in her tone. You kind of liked it.
“Like a regular superhero then, huh?”
She looks away, her smile dropping slightly. “Nothing like that. Um, you’re all good now.”
Hazel reaches for your shirt before you can even ask her to. You thank her with another smile and she moves away so you can put it back on.
As you walk alongside her to the exit, you stop her for a moment before pushing the doors open. “Thank you again. I’m pretty sure the gel is working already.”
Her gaze falls to the ground and once again she’s all fidgety and bashful. You hesitate for a second, but before you can talk yourself out of it, you lean forward to kiss her on the cheek. Just a light, friendly peck, even though ‘friendly’ might’ve been teetering over the edge at that point. Something shifted and you weren’t so sure you’d just laugh it off the next time Brittany or Isabel asked you about Hazel again.
You walk out of the locker room together, shyly glancing and smiling at one another until you have to part ways for your next classes.
Christ on a cross, you were really fucking tired. The city had been quiet since you started surveying it at around five o’clock and you were highly considering calling it a day at around half past seven, leave whatever happened in the later hours to the other crime fighters your city had one too many of. Hell, even to whatever cops who might be able to do their job properly for a change.
But a trio of snatchers caught your eye as soon as the thought occurred to you. So much for an earlier end to the week.
And you had them subdued with ease. Two of them were clearly new to the life of crime or just greatly inexperienced, and the other one was yelling at them half the time. Despite your skill and inhuman qualities, however, they were all relatively bigger than you so knocking them all out still took some time. You were two down with one to go when you heard a thwipping sound by your ear, and in the next split second, the snatcher was webbed to the wall.
Then you heard that voice. “Looked like you needed a hand.”
You look over your shoulder, groaning. “I didn’t, actually.”
“Well, I wanted to help you anyway. You’re welcome!”
“I’m not thanking you!”
The blare of police sirens comes not long after and you and Spiderwoman flee the scene before any of the cars come to a stop. Flying got you ahead of her since she relied on buildings to swing off from, but she caught up to you in no time. In just a few minutes, you were both back on the rooftop you left her at earlier in the week.
“You know, you’re right for making sure to never have to talk to the cops after putting the bad guys down. I should do that more. Those people really don’t like us.”
“I think you just talk a little too much for their liking.”
It’s not meant to be funny, but she laughs at you anyway. You might’ve put your guard down and decided to not be so irritated if it weren’t for the throbbing pain near your shoulder. You were sure the bruise there got bigger and worse after one of the snatchers got a good punch in that area.
“Yeah, well, I’m calling it a night. The city’s been quiet enough except for that one incident today, so I’m going home.” You sigh, moving to walk past her. “You should, too.”
“Hold on, I…”
You stop, waiting like she asked. If she was gonna ask you to hang out and share a sandwich again, she still wasn’t getting the answer she wanted.
She’s in a silent debate with herself for too long and you really, really wanted to go, so you say goodbye and start walking again. But just as you come shoulder to shoulder with her, she reaches out to touch yours and you wince back in pain. It just had to be the bruised one.
“Oh god, sorry.” She says as she takes her hand away. “Are you okay?”
“Obviously not, but I’ll be fine the next time we unfortunately cross paths again.”
“Wait, I just—”
“Look, Spidey, I really don’t have time—”
“Just take the tub of gel home then, if you don’t want me to take a look at it.”
What the hell was she talking about?
Then it hits you, and you freeze in place even before she says your name. Your actual name, written on your birth certificate and school records, written on that worksheet you shared just a couple of hours before.
Slowly, she begins to take off her mask. You almost want to tell her to stop but that wouldn’t change anything. Even if she didn’t show you her face now, you’d see it in two days time on Monday. Maybe even earlier if you happened to bump into her on the weekend.
Your greatest annoyance was the same person you thought you might’ve been developing a bit of a crush on earlier. You could not deal with any of that right now.
So you don’t.
“I know you’re probably freaked out by now, but I promise I haven’t—”
“I need to go.”
A crease forms between her brows. She starts to say something again but you’re quick to cut her off. “I need to go, okay? Just leave me alone.”
Hazel lets out a resigned sigh, looking to the floor as she nods. You fly faster than you ever have to get back home.
Your luck doesn’t get any better over the weekend when you get a fever on Sunday evening, making you miss class for the next three days. A paracetamol usually did the trick after a day, but the fatigue and exhaustion of your secret life was probably getting to you, too. But even with the ugly feeling of a fever, it was actually really nice to just stay in bed and drink soup for a change. It feels like you haven’t properly rested in weeks.
Your mind, however, was still restless. You tried not to look at the news too much in case there was some criminal that got away and it would just make you feel awful for not being able to catch them. But you tried even harder not to message Hazel to talk.
“Hey kiddo, your friend from school is here. Says she has the notes and homework you’ve missed since Monday.” Your dad pops his head in as he speaks. You can’t see who’s behind him, but it was probably Isabel. She’s been checking in on you constantly.
“Yeah, just let Isabel in, dad.”
“Not Isabel,” says a different voice as the door shuts behind her. Speak of the devil. “But I do have Isabel’s notes because they’re way neater than mine,” Hazel adds, a sheepish look on her face.
You don’t say anything as you watch her cross the room, shrugging off her backpack and gently placing it on the seat by your study table. Then she turns to you, and you’re surprised to see the tears welling up in her eyes. “Hazel, what—”
“Sorry, I’m sorry, it’s just…” She shakes her head, angrily rubbing at her eyes. “I thought something really bad happened to you.”
“It was just a fever,” you tell her as you sit up straighter against your headboard.
“You know what I mean.”
You did. You reach out and pat the space beside you on the bed. “Come on, come here.”
Hazel does as she’s asked. Her gaze was focused on your carpet but you could see that her eyes weren’t glistening with unshed tears anymore, although they were rimmed red. “I’m fine, I promise. The fever’s gone now and I’ve been cleared to go back to school tomorrow.”
She nods but she’s still not looking at you, so you take one of her hands in between both of yours in an attempt to make her. “I’m sorry for the way I reacted on Friday night. I just didn’t know what to say and it was… it was a lot to take in at the moment. I was so sure that nobody knew who I was. I panicked.”
“I haven’t told anyone, I swear.” Hazel looks at you then, holding your gaze like her life depended on it. “I know I talk too much but I would never do that to you. Never.”
You can’t tell if she’s quoting you from your last conversation or not on that last part, but you believe her. “I know. I’d never tell anyone about you either, Hazel.”
She looks down at your hands when you rub your thumb across the side of hers and, after a moment, she laces her fingers with yours. There was a burst of warmth in your chest and you could tell there was one in Hazel’s too. So much for your one rule of not dating anyone because of the dangerous part of your life.
Not that you thought the two of you were dating, though.
“So… now what?”
“Well, life goes on as it did before, I guess.” You scoot closer to her, smiling as you add, “But I guess we can hold hands every now and then, if you like.”
“Oh, I like. I very much like,” Hazel replies enthusiastically, a matching smile on her face. She holds on to your hand tighter. “Can I kiss you every now and then too?”
“You haven’t kissed me yet.”
But that’s changed in a heartbeat, both of you leaning forward at the same time. You tug her closer, unlacing your hands so you can bury one in her hair as the other holds on to the side of her face. Hazel kisses you slowly, but there was an urgency to it as well; like something could happen the next day that would ensure she would never be able to do it again — but all things considered, that was an unfortunate thing that very well could happen. You kiss her back just the same, savoring the moment and praying to every god out there that your mom or dad wouldn’t come barging in any time soon.
She pushes you down onto the bed and pulls away with a grin, planting kisses across your cheek and down to your neck. You hold back from verbally reacting to that and the feeling of her hands on your hips, her thumbs gently caressing the skin there. It takes too much energy for you to manage to say, “Hazel, Haze… my parents are home.”
Hazel brings her face back up to yours. Instead of looking disappointed, she just looks pleased. “I know, sorry. Got carried away — I have been fantasizing about this for a while now, though, so cut me a little slack.”
You giggle out an ‘okay’, tucking her hair behind her ears. “Also, if there’s any of that fever bacteria still in me, I apologize in advance if you get sick in a day or two.”
“Don’t even worry about me,” Hazel says with a shake of her head, leaning down to kiss you soundly once more. “I heal fast.”

Hello! Another request from Beast Wars
Blackarachnia's twin sister and and who ends up dating or in a relationship with Waspinator later on?
Blackarachnia and her twin were the closest twins. They also have similarities like having skills/abilities, spider beast mode, etc. However, they also have differences.
Ex. Blackarachnia is known for being a sultry femme fatale, smart, sly, and dangerous, being a bad girl. while Buddy is kinda sultry-but-moral(?), has a calm/cool demeanor, honest, quick-witted/intuitive, selfless, and compassionate (or kinda like Jessica Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit movie)
Also Blackarachnia's twin and Waspinator's relationship/dynamic is pretty much like Jessica and Roger Rabbit
Thank you and also remember to take breaks and care for yourself!
I can see that the 'Jessica Rabbit and Roger Rabbit' dynamic is a common one so far.
Not complaining though!
Waspinator deserves all the hugs he can get!
Hope you enjoy!
Blackarachnia's twin sister dating Waspinator
SFW, Familial, Romance, Cybertronain reader
BW
The two were infamously known as the ‘Spider Twins’ amongst the two factions.
There was the first twin, Blackarachnia.
The femme fatale.
The bad girl.
The master manipulator who spins her webs of lies to have the odds in her favor.
The spider who accidentally managed to fall in love with a Maximal.
Then her twin sister, Buddy.
The femme fatale.
The morally grey/ the-only-Predacon-who-seemed-to-have-some-part-of-her-Maximal-code-in-in her.
The spider who was kind and had fallen helm over pedes with a Predacon.
Strange how things worked out.
Blackarachnia and Buddy spying on some of the Maximals from behind a boulder. Buddy smirks a bit seeing her twin’s gaze stay longer on the Maximal who had wormed into her spark.
Buddy: “SO, how is the whole talking with Mr. Hero working out?” Blackarachnia gives her a halfhearted glare: “Please Buddy, I don’t love him or anything. Its just fun to mess with him.” Buddy: “I never said ‘love’.”
Her twin stiffens a bit suddenly noticing her slip.
Blackachnia: “Well, what about you and that pathetic Waspinator? You don’t seem to be hiding that dirty little secret.” Buddy blinks a bit before turning to her: “Wait, do you think I’m hiding that?” Blackarachnia now turning to her: “Of course!” Buddy: “I already confessed.” Meanwhile with the Maximals… Silverbolt: “I think I can hear My Lady!” Rattrap: “You said that last time we were on patrol.” Silverbolt: “I can see her!” Rattrap: “I think you need to get back in the CR chamber pal. This heat is brutal.” Faint sounds of Blackarachnia screeching at Buddy are heard in the background.
Blackarachnia does not know what her twin finds in the weakest Predacon in the faction.
Fully believes that she can do better.
… but with the given, it is going to be hard to weed the best out.
Has given him The Talk multiple times without her sister finding out.
If this is what her twin is going to settle with for now, Blackarachnia is going to make sure that he treats her right.
She quickly finds out his treatment wasn’t going to be an issue.
Buddy is laying down on the berth with Waspinator on top of her. Her servos gently playing with his antennas. Waspinator was just looking at her as if she painted the sky. His servos wrapped around her middle.
Blackarachnia: “This is sickening.” Buddy lets out a yelp of surprise as Waspinator quickly let’s go and points his blaster at the intruder. Blackarachnia is leaning on the door unimpressed. Buddy: “Blackarachnia!” Blackarachnia: “Calm down I just came here for the screws. You two can continue with… whatever that was.” She closes the door. Waspinator huffs putting his blaster away and latches onto Buddy pulling her close. Buddy just giggles a bit before snuggling closer to the bot.
When news got back that Blackarachnia had defected, Buddy knew she shouldn’t have been surprised by this.
She could bet her left pede that Silverbolt had a play in her defecting.
Her betrayal led to many pointed glares and rude comments thrown at her around the Predacon base.
Waspinator now refused to let her out of his sight in fear that Megatron or one of the others doing something to her.
The first few nights without her twin, Buddy spent it in Waspinator’s room crying as he attempted to consol her.
Waspinator was sitting on the berth holding Buddy in his lap.
He could still feel the left-over tears on his shoulders.
Waspinator: “…if Buddy want to go with other spider bot… she can.” Buddy looks up at him in disbelief. Buddy: “What?” Waspinator looks down a bit sad: “You not happy here… happier with her around… Wazpinator help you escape—” Buddy: “No.” Waspinator turn to look surprised: “No? But you sad…” Buddy: “I am NOT going to leave you here by yourself. Where you go, I go. I do miss my twin… but I’d rather stay here with you than go somewhere else without you. Waspinator tries to talk but only choked on buzzes and a sob. Buddy pulls him closer, crying again. Waspinator reciprocates holding her like his life depended on it. Hopefully things would turn up for the best…

Bodies : Hotch x reader (part 2 to cold weather)
previous part
You would think that the end of the year would be a nice, peaceful time filled with joy and reflection about the passing year, and probably somewhere in the world it was like that. However, when you are a DA in one of the busiest cities in America, you can only quote some comic heroes while saying: the crime never sleeps.
To put it bluntly, Christmas and New Year’s Eve were nothing less, but a perfect opportunity for both petty criminals and organized crime groups to commit atrocities. Theft and assaults were – well – as tragic as it may sound – normal - but in the crowd of people at the city events there were always a risk of something bigger and worse.
Killing.
Shooting
Bombing.
You live and you learn.
And Y/N had seen enough of it, both in her career and in her private live to behave cautiously even though it was not her job to secure the place or make sure everyone was safe. But hey, here comes a surprise – being DA is not only about inspecting dead bodies and prosecuting killers.
For her – it was about people and serving justice.
Truly. Not only in theory.
And given her experience she knew something big was coming making her dread.
***
“JJ. I’m being serious.” She was sitting in her office, talking through the phone with her friend from the BAU, who also happened to be the only person who could get the whole team of agents to come. “this whole situation is serious. I can’t let it accure.”
“I can only do as much as present it at the briefing.” JJ responded though it was clear in her voice that she was struggling between her professionalism and sympathy for the young DA.
“Right. Sorry.” Y/N pinched the bridge of her nose swirling in the chair nervously while looking at the street below her. Full of police officers, CSIs, reporters and very characteristic yellow tape. “Didn’t mean to be demanding. I’m just – “ the words barely got through her throat but Y/N was pretty sure if there was anyone trustable in the whole wide world it was definitely JJ “ I’m kind of desperate. This is way beyond my pay grade.”
“I promise I’ll do my best Y/N, but it’s not my call.”
“Yeah, I know….”
Oh yes, she did.
There was too much to risk and Y/N could not sit in her chair doing nothing. If the mountain won't come to Muhammad, then Muhammad must go to the mountain.
***
“Y/N!”
“Get out of my way Morgan I’m here on business.”
“Oh wow! Slow down Katrina.” Morgan chuckled and Y/N raised an eyebrow at him “The hurricane.”
“I understood the reference.”
“What’s with the stormy attitude then?”
“Where is he?” she swiftly avoided the answer getting straight to her point.
“Can’t you at least say hello first?”
“Hello Morgan. Now where is he?”
“Who?”
“Stop playing with me.” She warned throwing daggers at him. It was the first time anyone at the BAU saw her act like a force of nature and even Emily couldn’t hide the amused smirk of approval. Y/N was finally showing her true side as driven and strong DA and not the withdrawn public prosecutor’s trainee they met her as. And it was both admirable and terrifying, especially to Reid who was so taken aback that his mouth hung open for a moment. The girl woman, who saved him from drowning some time ago was a lioness and after the initial shock, he was the one to point her to the direction were the reason of her visit has been currently sojourning.
***
“The local authorities-“
“For god’s sake Hotch I am the local authority!”
“The mayor-“
“The mayor is a knucklehead who can’t speak publicly without having the speech written by ghostwriter. He has no idea what’s happening in his own backyard. And frankly I don’t think he cares.”
“You’re forgetting yourself.” Deep, calm and cold voice of the BAU chief was an evident contrast to his smirk and watchful eyes. Y/N was definitely a view when she walked into his office with a face expression so stern it could match his own.
“Oh I am?” she spun around, loosening the collar of her shirt, since the situation was making her blood boil. A little gesture that did not slip by the agent, even if he didn’t let it show at all. “Okay then. I’ll calm down and resort to your way of understanding.”
“Which is?”
“Logic, obviously. You have no imagination whatsoever. Everything must always make sense to you and form a perfect whole. Let me present it to you then.”
“Please.” Hotch responded, still calm and collected pointing the chair to her. “You know the rules.” He added when she finally took the place instead of walking around his office like a caged animal.
“I got a killer on the loose.”
“Yes. Like many other states and cities.”
“A very specific kind of killer.”
“You’re wasting my time.”
“And mine apparently.” She muttered
“If you excuse me I got-“
“No.”
“Sorry?”
“I won’t excuse you. I’m here for something and believe me I won’t leave until I get what I want.”
“You’re being-“
“Unreasonable? Crazy?” she leaned slightly forward, almost leaning on his desk “Go ahead. Think what you want, I’d rather consider myself driven and concerned about my people. It’s part of my job to make sure no more families cries at night because some psycho is on a killing rampage. And you’re the fucking BAU supposed to –“
“I know my duties.” Hotch cut her off getting a bit agitated by her behavior.
“Do you now?”
“Leave L/N.”
“Nah, don’t think so.”
“You have no authority here.”
The sudden slap of a paper file on his desk didn’t make as much dramatic effect as she expected, but got his attention regardless.
“Come on Hotch. Don’t be shy, open it.”
The ruffling of the pages was the only answer she got as Hotch’s eyes were moving though the file and the photos attached, scanning through every detail and blood mark on the bodies of the killed. Every line, every cut and wound inflicted on the flesh had a meaning. They both could sense in their bones even if didn’t make any sense at the point.
“Bet they didn’t show you that, did they?” she whispered taking in his seemingly unfazed expression.
“This is-“
“Yeah, I know.“ she bit her lip hard enough to make it turn red from the pressure.
“Try to not bleed on my papers L/N.” his eyes flickered to her mouth for a split second.
“Look Hotch, I know we have our differences, many differences, but please.” She noticed, but decided to drop it due to the more urgent matter than his gaze and the sudden wave of heat. “Please work with me on this.”
She sighed hating the fact she was forced to plead with him. But it was all for the greater good and if that was what it took to ensure safety and peace in town – so be it.
“Why?” his dark eyes landed on her, piercing right through and it made her shiver in the same way she did when he grabbed her hand at the lake when they were working together before Christmas.
God, she hated her feelings. It was job, for crying out loud, and she didn’t need any exposure. Aaron could read her like a magazine, and it was very uncomfortable, to think he knew her better then she knew herself, while hiding his own motivations and emotions at the same time. Treating her like a mouse he could play with.
“What do you mean why? Why do I want you to come?”
“Why are you pleading with me? You’re proud. You’re hot tempered. You do what you believe is right even if it violates someone else’s rules and patterns of behaviors.”
“And procedures.” She smirked
“Yes.” He nodded “So why?”
“You really want me to say it, don’t you? Some ego-feeding agent Hotchner?”
He looked at her in predatory, warning way even if his whole posture was revealing he was the lion falling for a lamb.
“Fine. Fine! You’re my last hope. I need you.”
Hotch’s face expression didn’t change even in the slightest when he stood up and opened the door motioning her to walk out.
“Aaron I –“
“Y/N.” He shook his head and waited patiently till she finally moved from the chair, defeated.
So she fought and lost and now the stupid mayor, who was only caring about the pretenses and appearances would be on top.
Over her dead body. She would catch that killer freak herself even if it meant –
“We’re going to Washington.“
Wait, what?
Hotch’s voice got through to her brain, but his words made no sense to her.
Did he just say -?
She frowned and looked at him in a bit of confusion.
“why does your action and your words never match?”
“Better get yourself on the plane L/N.”
“Since when do you take additional passengers?”
“Since I need to keep an eye on a rowdy DA, who wants to pursue a dangerous criminal on her own.”
“I did not-“
“You did.” He muttered handing her the coat in a very telling gesture
Um. Thank you?
“Are you concerned about my safety or something now?”
“You’re reckless and tend to put yourself in danger. I’m always concerned about your safety. Who would be my partner in investigating the bodies if something happened to you?”
Sure.
It was all about the bodies.
Not necessarily the dead ones though.
And very natural human instincts, even if forced to stay in hiding.

Hihi!! Goodnight or Good day!!
I suddenly thought of a random idea! Like.. what if there was one witch who objected that the beast cookies should be sealed? Saying that they still have time/hope for redemption, because that witch knew them since they were created!
Basically witch reader! But since one witch can't defeat numerous witches, Reader just watched with sadness seeing them sealed.
Imagine a kingdom that Witch!Reader baked/made, along with higher role special cookies! Similiar to the ancients and beasts.
The gingerbrave crew stumbling upon it, being amazed as Pure Vanilla is Astonished seeing a new kingdom that didn't exist before (kingdom was just hidden really well 💀)
Or, it could be the beasts stumbling upon it after all of them were released from the seal in some other alternative universe 😭
But I swear Witch!Reader got so much potential in story ideas!
-🍬Anon
Enjoy the milkshake! I literally created a character for this and a whole idea, like the beasts are named after baking ingredients and the ancients seen based on natural ingredients from what I can tell (I can go on a rant golden cheeses name but I won’t) and my idea for these other cookies is that they will be named after cooking stuff, ex- basil or garlic
Also witch is used a a way to refer to reader so you can change it to wizard or scorcher and also I’m 100% open for a part 2
The Hidden Kingdom
-platonic scenario-
Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, part 5, part 6
Long ago there was a young witch. They had watched their mentors bake cookies, cookies that could walk and talk! The young witch, though very young, wanted to help and aid in the creation with making these cookies but sadly their mentors told them that they couldn’t help.
But they watched as hero were baked, these hero’s represented Knowledge, Volition, Happiness, Change and Solidarity. But with time, the young witch saw these hero’s change into beasts of despair.
The young witch begged for the elder witches to give these beasts a chance for redemption but the elder witches refused.
But the night the witches went to seal the beasts, the young witch was pained by these option of punishment but by the candle light, the young witch baked new cookies in an attempt to bring the hero’s back.
I’m this time the young witch had to work with what they had, the first ingredient they had was stuff like basil
And in the short amount of time the young witch baked new hero’s, one’s that represented Insight, Contentment, Responsibility, Hope and Charity and one cookie that could be their eyes if these hero’s went down the same path as the beasts.
The young witch gave these cookies land to reside in and left without a trace… hoping that these cookies would flourish without any help…
The forest of beast yeast was dense, and our group was getting weary.. “We’ve been traveling all day! Isn’t there a place we can stay?” Wizard Cookie complained. The timid Strawberry Cookie spoke up as well “Yeah… surely we can rest for a while..?” The younger Cookies looked up to Pure Vanilla waiting for an answer.
“I suppose we can rest here for a minute.. Carameleon Cookie would this be a safe place to rest?” Pure Vanilla looked at the “survival master” “Hmmmm… Yeah, seems pretty safe. I’ll look around just to make sure” and like that Carameleon scuttled away.
After a minute the group heard Carameleon call out to them. They rushed over, like any good friends would. “Carameleon Cookie! Is everything okay?” Gingerbrave asked
“Yeah! But check this out!” Carameleon moved some vines out the way to reveal a neatly kept stone pathway “In all my time I have never seen a place like this! There probably something good down there”
The group soon started down the path, it was very well kept path, and birds were chirping. It was peaceful for the first couple minutes but it soon got a little unsettling because there was no sign of life for a while… until they came across a sign…
“Beyond this point you Powdered Basil Cookie will be your guide through the forest until you get to the kingdom”
Birds scattered around when they approached the sign. “This is weird… I don’t see anyone-“ Wizard Cookie spoke. The chirping of birds quieted down as gentle footsteps could be heard. A cookie soon came into view, he looked graceful, almost like a leaf in spring. “Greetings travelers, I’m am Powered Basil Cookie, I will be your guide through the forest”
Powered Basil Cookie art right here :3

The Report Card – Fantasy High Junior Year Ep 17
It’s Emily Axford’s World, We’re Just Living in It
Welcome back to Fantasy High where this monster 3+ hour bombshell of an episode is dropping during one of the busiest weeks of my life! There is SO much going on in this episode that I’m absolutely going to have to speed through things to get this out before the next episode but I’ll try to hit on all of the most important points. OK, ready, set, let’s go!
We closed out last ep in the middle of downtime where we learned that Jace had a scar from being infected with a rage crystal shatter star and from there we still have a bunch more downtime to get through. Highlights!
Riz investigates the footage from the crystal cam and again has the feeling that he needs to go back to his office and check out any open-ended clues because he’s missing something.
Gorgug tries to work on a way to harness the power of the Night Yorb’s darkness since it’s trapped in his van since they’ll probably be fighting a solar deity soon. He does mention it to Henry but not why he’s doing it. He also looks into the Cloud Rider and confirms with the Aviation Club goblin kid that it would be powerful enough to lift the Hangman (referring not to the motorcycle, but to Bill’s ship which is now Seacaster manor).
Fig writes another Ankarna themed song and rolls an insane 37. That’s powerful enough that she’s able to commune with Ankarna in her dreams. She calms the distressed Ankarana with the paladin spell Atonement and by commiserating that both of their girlfriends are “out of town”. Ankarna calls Fig her hero and says that “She’s always known” before she wakes up.
Fig keeps haunting Ruben's dreams but they're abjured so she can't straight up talk to him. In his dream, she sees his house in Elmville and feels rage as well as fear. She sees a glade in Far Haven Woods and a scared pre-emo Ruben which makes her think that that's where they did whatever they did to kick things off and that maybe the old Ruben is still trapped somewhere.
She then goes full Emily Axford and–along with the help of Fabian, British Kristen, Gorgug, and Adaine–goes to Ruben’s house and FAKES THE DEATH OF WANDA CHILDA BY KIPPERLILLY. Once she’s “dead” Adaine casts Enlarge on Gorgug and throws a cloak on him so he can take her away the in the same way Buddy’s body was taken away. It’s the performance of a lifetime with a 34 but the craziest part is they know someone was watching through the window but they have no idea who it was. InSANE. Imagine if it’s just Kipperlilly watching from Ruben’s window like ???????
Finally she gets Eugenia to design a tattoo for Fabian’s bday that will let him cast Ghost Step. She’s gonna secretly tattoo it on him because sure why not.
Kristen talks to a very stressed Jawbone who has been dealing with a lot of angry kids lately which is, como se dice, troubling considering the whole rage god situation. She downloads him on everything going on and reveals that she was gonna try to have British Kristen steal files so she can see if the addresses of the angry kids form a 24 pointed star but instead she helps Jawbone clean his office and asks if she can have the addresses. He can’t give out student info but he says he’ll check a map and see if they form a star as well as checking on Jace. Kristen tells him to be super careful because the last teacher they talked to was Yolanda, RIP. (He also mentions the Sophomore Year Hotel Cav fight as being a weird thing that happened and the murder attempt of Lydia–things that we’ve already flagged as loose ends. We’ll get back to this).
Bobby Dawn is freaking out because they can’t find Buddy’s soul in corn heaven. Kristen reveals that he’s not in corn heaven and in fact is following a new god (after confirming he doesn’t have a rage crystal). Bobby Dawn thinks he’s being punked–especially once Kristen says the new god is her god’s ex-wife–but Kristen is being pretty sincere (so sincere that Murph is melting into a puddle anticipating she’s about to give the game away to one of their least fave NPCs–imo, she didn’t give away anything game ending but she was def playing with fire). Bobby tells Kristen to call him if there’s anything he can do to help find Buddy and Kristen dips to go talk to “[her] friend Murph.” Not Riz, Murph the irl guy, lol. As that happens, Bobby goes to have a whisper convo with his wife Pam who is also there. Suspicious.
Riz/Murph makes the connection that Lake Shimmerstone is called that because of the gem filaments that flow from the Mountains of Chaos. It's a classic "no rolls necessary" moment.
Kristen finally checks the bylaws and sees that the major change made was that there is no longer any inaugural period post election. So once the votes are counted, whoever wins is president right away. It was a change by Mazey requested by a faculty member--they think Jace.
Kristen checks on her brother finally and it doesn't seem like he has a rage crystal but he's pretty bummed that he hasn't been able to convert any of his friends despite being a good paladin. He's also having a little existential crisis because he has non Helioic friends who don't actually seem like scary heathens. But then he was warned that sin might be tempting. Kristen tells him that she understands and that he has to decide whether he knows himself better than their parents. She says she's always around to talk. She then does a Relaxation roll and loses 3 stress tokens! Brennan also has her roll a d6 for the Relationship track roll with Buddy and on a 6, loses her final stress token!
Like Fig, Kristen also gets to commune with her goddess. Cass says that she's trapped and the king will come to Spyre. She says her wife's "fiery hand" grasps her in death and she has to protect her from the upcoming destruction--but she can't do it as herself. She tells Kristen that Ankarna has a champion as well and when Kristen asks who Cass says she already knows the champion. Finally, she urges her to look into what Kalina said because there was to be a good reason for her saying Ragh’s name.
I’m going to leave the bullets for a moment (largely because Tumblr gets mad at blocks of text that are too big) to say that Adaine and Fig go to Ayda’s geocache and find an insane amount of spell components which would have been super useful earlier in the year. It also has instruments for Fig including a new bass that Brennan says he’ll get Emily the item card for ASAP. Back to bullets!
In his research, Riz finds the location in the Mountains of Chaos of the Temple of the Fallen Sun where Lydia's party members stopped in their travels.
Riz looking into the Loam files sees that the person they're after must have had some ability to stun their opponents which is probably the reason for the lack of defensive wounds. He also learns that Ruvina's festival was called the Festival of Frost which sounds a lot like Frosty Fair.
He finds some text about something called the War of Shattered Stones which apparently took place around when Ankarna's domain changed.
On a hunch that there is more going on with the rat grinding than meets the eye, the whole gang takes a field trip to Lake Shimmerstone and Riz finds evidence that at some point the Rat Grinders were taken here while a massive giant was fighting deadly monsters. That doesn’t make sense so they call in some rats to question who tell them that there was a giant fighting these monsters and basically leaving the killing blows to the Rat Grinders so they’d get the XP–which is mechanically insane diegetically but we’re gonna ignore that. The rats also confirm that this was when Lucy was still around. The Bad Kids think that the RG’s made a deal with this giant (who the rats say is a guy btw) to get powered up and they got crystals as their end of the bargain.
OK, that basically wraps up downtime. One more piece of business before we head to the Temple of the Fallen Sun! Zara has a talk with Fig where after heaping praise on her, she passes along a message–the appearance of a surprise meteor shower which was arranged by Ayda and is the most romantic thing ever. I won’t recap it, just watch it yourself. I can’t do it justice. Before Fig leaves for some hot tub time, Zara asks about Fig’s evaluation and Fig assures her she already turned it in.
Time for a griffon road trip! And strap in because this is a MEATY lore dump. Sandra Lynn brings everyone on griffons to the Temple of The Fallen Sun and Riz brings his files because he can’t shake the feeling that he’s missing something.
They find this infernal temple littered with humanoid bones and Fig can tell with her divine sense that it's a temple to Ankarna. There is a place where Ankarna’s name was destroyed and replaced with a Ranger’s symbol that says: Do Not Enter. Fallen Temple. There’s also evidence that someone tried to rewrite Ankarna’s name but it’s not her actual name. It’s the glyph that means her but isn’t her actual name. Which suggests that there’s a group of Ankarna followers that are trying to do stuff involving her but that don’t know her name.
Everyone who can loads up on Truesight and See Invisibility before they enter the temple. There are a bunch of pretty good Investigation checks but, in particular, Riz gets a 32 and Fig gets a Nat 20.
Fig sees a vision (and Adaine can see it too--I assume as elven oracle she can just piggyback on anyone else having visions lol) of two giantkin wearing robes with a sun emblem being executed by armored individuals wearing robes with a fiery emblem on it. This temple was built right when Ankarna's domain was changing. They’re seeing the old priests of Ankarna being executed by the new ones.
It's clear that this temple was built as a part of a state religion--the focus on conquest and strength is very empire-y. Adaine sees some writing in Giant and casts Comprehend Language so she can read it. There’s a bunch about the War of Shattered Stone and some new stuff about the temple being built for the glory of the House of Sunstone. They walk through the temple and see all this awful equipment for torture and execution. They get the sense that this is where Ankarna was changed. Her new followers did a bunch of heinous stuff in her name to force her to become infernal. As above, so below and all.
Adaine casts Legend Lore and Brennan basically salivates. 30 seconds later, Riz rolls a Nat 20 to Investigate his files. So we’re about to crack this whole thing wide open folks. Let’s do this!
Fig and Kristen explore a chamber and Kristen's shards glow so bright she has to wrap fabric around them so they don't hurt peoples' eyes. They realize that their goddesses have been in this room together before. It's where they got divorced. Fig sees a vision of a bunch of Cass's followers dropping their weapons and backing up slowly and then being brutally slaughtered by the new guard of Ankarna.
Adaine's Legend Lore starts: Sunstone was the top clan of the giants and conquered all the others--Thunderfist, Hornspear, Moonspeak, and Frostblade (Lucy’s ancestors). Ships got better which meant people started mingling and so did their gods. Ankarna and Cassandra got married. Things were good for a while but the leaders of the church of Sol didn't like having two sun gods in their pantheon so they whispered in the ears of some of the Sunstone guys that maybe conquest was the way to go (this was when they started conquering the other clans).
Clan Frostblade rose up to fight because Ruvina was so concerned with stopping her sister and at the sundering of the Cliff's of Colcath, House Sunstone was destroyed.
At this point, Riz realizes the thing he was missing in his files and it’s the thing we noticed ages ago. The weird moment in Sophomore Year. How did Ragh get cursed so he could see Kalina in the first place? Brennan plays the clip, looking like the cat who ate the canary. Porter did “Barbarian Healing” on him. That’s not a real thing. Lay on Hands is though. Porter is the one who infected Ragh. Emily, who has hated this man from day one, is LIVING.
Back to the Legend Lore: The sundering of the Cliffs of Colcath. Sundering as in breaking. As in Cliffbreaker–Porter’s last name.
They start putting things together. Him telling Fig he's a paladin to his ancestors. Gorgug sees him smite a giant stone with the force that would be needed to fell a bunch of trees in the woods. Disasuding Fig from being a paladin of Cass. His connection to Jace from the start. The large figure healing Buddy? He’s big as hell and Paladins can revivify. And Ankarna telling Fig that she’s known all along.
The Legend Lore Concludes: After the sundering at the cliffs, the remaining Sunstones changed their names (to Cliffbreaker) and went into hiding. The Frostblades destroyed Ankarna's name to free her from the corruption (but I guess that went a little too far and backfired). The name was lost but a lot of Ankarna's true followers waited for her return. That includes Bakur who the Bad Kids realize was trying to bring back not infernal, ragey Ankarna but sunny justice Ankarna. But he was stopped by her mortal followers.
Sandra Lynn watching all of this is like, “Well shit,” and points out that if the world isn’t already in chaos they must not have everything they need yet. The Bad Kids figure the opposition must be missing the name and a successful election. The election is in four days so that’s how long they have to stop it. In one final sick fusion of bard and paladin, Fig uses a riff from her base to uncover an older image of Ankarna and Cassandra pre-corruption and then they head back home.
(Note: This comes up later retroactively but before they leave, they also check for footprints and see recent ones of Porter, Jace, and Buddy. It looks like they teleported in.)
Kristen casts Sending to warn Jawbone that Porter is bad news and then they speculate some more. There was a question in an earlier episode about what does it actually mean that Ankarna died in the Red Waste. They figure out that it means that the last follower who remembered her name was killed there.
They talk to Bakur who says again that he was betrayed by Ankarna’s mortal followers. He also mentions that even in her infernal state, she would refuse to grant her followers spells when they had plans to hurt her sister or wife (even when Ruvina’s followers were attacking her).
Bakur realized that Ankarna's followers were interested in her power but not in her. Bakur also overheard conversation from Lydia's party that said that Ankarna needed to be remade in a place where a god has been borne. A god. Any god. Riz flashes back to Kipperlilly Jawbone asking where Yes! was borne.
Fig with some help from Adaine makes a fake version of Ankarna's name to give to Porter--Bacharath written in Giant. While Fig goes to give this to Porter, Adaine is hiding outside with Detect Thoughts on and Riz is hiding nearby invisible and recording.
Fig finds Porter and tells him and she found a new god and found her name but it’s annoying because she can’t read Giant which she needs to do to rez the god. She does it really casually and acts like it’s no big deal and Porter tries to play it cool but Adaine can tell with her Detect Thoughts that he’s chomping at the bit to get that name. She makes sure that Fig crits on her Deception with a portent. He (not at all) causally offers to help Fig translate and snatches the piece of paper from her. Fig then challenges him to spar and he agrees. Brennan asks for a Con roll and when Porter stomps his foot, everyone is immediately stunned (remember the mention of the stun effect and not defensive wounds earlier). Everyone but Riz who rolled a Nat 20. So he keeps his Invisibility. He also gets a high enough luck check to feel that there is someone else invisible nearby, close to Fig and Porter (note: later, Brennan tells Adaine that while she had Detect Thoughts up, for a moment she could detect the thoughts of an invisible KP).
The last thought Adaine gets from Porter as her concentration drops on Detect Thoughts is, “Did I lock the office?”
Porter helps Fig up and doesn’t actually fight her but it feels like they just saw Porter do a Legendary Action which is a weird thing for a teacher to do–even a strong one. Fig asks what the hell that was and Porter plays it coy, saying senior year is gonna be really exciting. Riz is absolutely not having that non-answer and Misty Steps into Porter’s office. With his high investigation, he just finds everything so back to bullets:
There’s a note where he’s intimidating Halo St. Croix (the paladin teacher) into letting him teach the multiclass paladins.
There are MCATs signed for him to teach both Lucy and Buddy paladin lessons.
There’s an encrypted message between Porter and Bobby Dawn where Bobby is basically saying he’s very happy for Sol to remain the ONLY god of the sun in town but a new war god? That could be OK. He also suggests Porter look into Devil’s Honey for his plan.
There's medicine to help with a psychosomatic allergic to feline dandruff (prob Kalina related).
There’s filo dough–the kind you use to make baklava (a honey based dessert).
There’s a leather cord, probably used in the casting of Spy’s Tongue Curse than smells rank.
There are tons of blenders full of whey, protein powder, and ambrosia–food of the gods. Together, they piece together that mortals aren’t supposed to eat ambrosia because it kills them. Not in a violent way–they just ascend to the afterlife. They figure that Porter is basically eating god supplements, with the intention of supplanting Ankarna and becoming the new god of rage. Explains why he suddenly has legendary actions.
There’s some cryptic, vague communication with the Rat Grinders which doesn’t give much away but is enough to tip them off that Ruben’s house is the place where they plan things.
With that they go to investigate Ruben’s place. Before they go, Riz sets up a dead man’s switch that will release evidence if he doesn’t stop it–just in case they get trapped or held up or something. Adaine also calls her sister so she can cast a bunch of protective wards on Fabian’s place–she’s a master abjuration wizard after all.
Riza goes in first and disables all the traps in Ruben’s house which means they won’t get caught but the RG’s will know someone was there later. Here’s everything they find and, like the rest of this episode, it’s a lot:
Adaine finds Oisin’s workstation and most notably finds a picture of his dragon ancestor hanging out with Kalvaxus, some notes about the Cloud Rider, and notes about stealing summons from other people (remember Adaine's mephits going haywire at Fabian's party). There's also some notes about a way to write telekinetically on the inside of a sphere. They’re not sure what that means.
In Ruben's sound studio, they find notes from Porter helping Ruben write the song Get Mad--the song he did at Frosty Fair.
Gorgug hacks into their private servers and sees all their communications. KP insists that they only call Cass the Nightmare King and (presumably) refers to Porter as the "Big Guy". She says he wants the Nightmare King and should have her locked down sooner rather than later just as soon as she shows herself in the Astral Plane. There's also stuff from last year where KP is really excited. She says the Big Guy has been looking out for them for a while and she's hyping Lucy up saying she gets to be the champion (something we know she didn't want). KP is specifically excited that this will allow them to keep up with the Bad Kids. Jace is also mentioned as a conspirator under the acronym JSD which isn’t slick at all lol.
Kristen sees evidence of Buddy helping with a ritual and stuff about where a god was "borne" (spelled correctly) so clearly they know a lot about what's going on. She also finds out what KP wants to do once she's President: she wants to shut down Aguefort as a school forever which will nullify the protections and wards it has centered on it, the big one being that Elmville can't be moved to any other plane of existence while school is in session. They think the Rat Grinders want to teleport the whole town–perhaps to set up a divine domain. Which would need followers–specifically angry followers. IDK about y’all but I feel like being randomly teleported to the Astral Plane would make ME pretty angry.
There are texts post Lucy but pre Buddy where they're like what are we gonna do now? There's a "We're all in this together now" vibe (like some kind of twisted High School Musical) and they resolve to "talk to the Big Guy"
We learn Buddy was chosen for the same reason Lucy was a good candidate–connection to Ankarna. Lucy because Ruvina was her sister and Buddy because of similar domains (Helio’s domain is a Solar offshoot). Also I didn’t mention this before but Buddy did *not* know what he was doing. Oisin and Ivy are joking about his cluelessness behind his back (Booooo I was rooting for you dude).
There’s a message from Jace telling them to stop antagonizing the Bad Kids even though they want revenge which leads the Bad Kids to question what they ever did to them.
In Oisin's room they also find a lot of stuff about dragons and an image of a fetal god being protected by the Nightmare King. Also they remember how cloudy the Nightmare King's realm was (maybe a cloud rider connection?)
Deep breath, this is a lot of stuff and we’re almost done.
There's stuff about the Thistulespring tree and Ruben’s song spreading the rage vibes that represent the crystals in the ground.
They realize that Porter is probably using the Devil's Honey to lie to Ankarna about his intentions as he's communicating with her.
They see that for the ritual they needed a body (Porter), Ankarna's name, the protective storm of the NIghtmare King, and his name inscribed by the champion of the old goddess. They realize that’s why Zara never got her eval. Fig is the champion and she did Porter and Zara’s eval on the same sheet which he swiped for this ritual. He literally made Fig a paladin so he could get what he needed. Diabolical. Aguefort needs better hiring practices.
OK. Phew. Finally done. They head out and the next day is election day. Porter isn’t at school that day which is not surprising but is concerning. They don’t see the RG’s either. After school it’s time for the big party/election at Fabian’s place. Mazey gets a booth set up and Jawbone is there as faculty to make it legit. Aelwyn has warded up the place. Fig is there as Wanda cause she’s a maniac. Adaine is casting Detect Magic continually at the voting booth to watch for shenanigans. Also Ragh shows up and he aced his tryouts! He’s gonna be a profesh bloodrush player! Hoot growl all around!
But Riz (and honestly Murph) is unsettled. Everyone’s at this party where Fabian’s victory is a sure thing? All in one location together? Rat Grinders nowhere to be seen? This is WAY too easy.
Which is Brennan’s cure to drop the other shoe.
Things are just like Adaine's visions...until they're not. The sky was always clear in her visions and now storm clouds are brewing. She gets a Sending spell from someone, "You didn't see the storm coming? Must not be a very good Oracle." Oisin. Suddenly, ping pong balls with runes inside of them start raining down from where they've been stuck in the unkept Seacaster manor for months. From when Oisin "missed" his shots. Telekinetic writing inside a sphere. Runes inside ping pong balls. As they fall, there's a sudden lurch. Winds kick up and Seacaster manor is flying above Elmville. Everyone rolls initiative!
I’m not doing proper Honor Roll/Detention this week because this was such a long episode and I'm exhausted. Honestly, Honor Roll for me for getting this up in time. Detention for Fabian for not using is 10k gold allowance to have someone clean his house in the past 9 months.
Random Notes
Gonna just stick to a few plot relevant ones to keep this brief.
Re: Adaine not seeing the storm in the same way that the previous oracle couldn't. I wonder if that’s just a blanket thing that weather evades predictions or if they did the same thing that was done during Kal’s plan to evade that oracle's sight before Aelwyn sunk her ship.
I don’t think I made it clear but Porter def killed Yolanda according to this ep.
Porter’s Legendary Action is able to stun someone for multiple rounds which in combat would be devastating.
I’m shocked they never tried to talk to Ruvina at any point during the campaign.
I am still VERY concerned about Riz being made staff by Jace and given silver. That feels suspicious given we know he’s on Team Porter Ascension.
I didn’t get into it because it was nebulous and would have messed with the flow of the recap but there was something there about teleportation circles and the Rat Grinders continually casting teleport to make a circle and maybe that’s how they’re gonna get Elmville into the Astral Plane. Just mentioning it in case it comes up again.
I don’t think we got closure on the “where the god was borne” thing. Because borne means carried, not created, right? I wonder if Seacaster manor would count because the corpse of Yes! Was brought there by Ankarna.
The Rat Grinders and Porter have at least 2 obstacles they don’t know about. They don’t have the real name (unless they got in since Fig gave Porter the fake one) and Fig is literally domain squatting on Ankarna’s domain. She already called dibs so any claiming will have to go through her.
I think it’s really nice that Adaine tried to do a relaxation track for Kristen. Handshake meme, her and Riz.
Emily insisting so hard and consistently that Porter was evil that Brennan just made him evil has some real as above/so below energy lol.

Chapter One: JASON Has a Bad Day
Okie dokie everyone! I've decided to stop being lazy and finally post The Heroes of Juno to Tumblr! I'm not gonna be spamming the tag, though, promise! I'll post one chapter on Sunday and one chapter on Wednesday until you guys are all caught up! I hope you enjoy!
According to Leo, their destination was a museum on the Grand Canyon, not that that really meant anything to Jason. Coach was herding them towards a squat, red stucco building when he shouted, “Do not — I repeat do not get separated from your partners, do you hear me?” Leo turned to Jason, likely to inform him that they were working together, but Piper grabbed his arm before he got the chance. “You're my partner, Leo,” she said firmly. “Uh, sorry, but as the only one claiming to be a non-amnesiac, I'm here to tell you that I'm supposed to be with Jason.” “We're always partners on field trips, though.” “Yeah, which is part of the reason Coach Hedge banned us from working together,” Leo pointed out. Then, in a remarkably good impression added, “McLean, Valdez, if you so much as look at one another on this trip, you'll be getting a one-way ticket to the bottom, fast lane!” “Which means you'll be working with me,” another voice drawled. Jason stiffened, which was the correct response, based on the disgust that crossed Leo and Piper's faces. Another boy, not quite as big as Jason, but definitely taller and broader than Leo and Piper both, had slung his arm around Piper's shoulders. “Lucky you.”
Master List
Jason knew he was going to have a lousy day when he woke up on a school bus holding hands with a girl. He was pretty sure that normally he wouldn’t mind holding hands with her, as she was very pretty, but he had no idea who she was or why he was holding hands with her.
Apparently, the girl also didn’t know why he was holding her hand because she snatched it away and punched him in the arm with a surprising amount of force. Jason yelped in pain, but she just glared at him in obvious distrust, clutching her hand to her chest like she thought he would try to take it again. She was leaning so far away from Jason that he thought she was going to fall out of their shared seat, and when he went to balance her, she twisted her face into something that reminded Jason of a very agitated she-wolf
“Don't touch me,” the girl snapped. “Who the hell are you?”
“Uh, I’m Jason,” he stammered, putting his hands up in surrender. “And I don't—”
“What's wrong with you two?” a new voice asked. A boy was sitting on the seat in front of them by himself. He had his arms folded on the back of his seat and he rested his chin on them as he watched Jason and the girl like they were a tennis match. He raised an eyebrow when Jason gave him a blank look.
The girl, on the other hand, was visibly relieved. “Leo!” she all but hissed as she quickly vacated her spot at Jason's side and took up the one by her friend.
The other boy — Leo — turned and looked at her with his brow furrowed. “Seriously, Piper, what's up with you tw—”
“Who are you?” Piper interrupted glaring at Jason even more ferociously now that she was in a more defensible position.
“What do you mean ‘who are you?’” Leo asked. “That's Jason. You know, big guy, blonde. Our best friend, your recent boyfriend? That Jason?”
“You're my best friend, and I would never date someone like him,” Piper corrected, giving Jason a somehow dirtier look than before.
Leo just looked confused for a moment before he laughed. “Alright, Pipes, whatever you say.” He gave Jason an easy smile. “Come on, Jason. Tell your amnesiac girlfriend who you are.”
“I'm sorry, but I don't know who either of you are,” Jason admitted. “I—I'm not even really sure who I am.”
Leo stared at him, gobsmacked. Then he turned to Piper with an almost betrayed look. “Okay, I get why Jason would be messing with me over the whole shaving cream on the Jell-o thing, but you, too? I didn't even do anything to you. You date the guy for two weeks and you're already picking him over me?”
Piper looked pained at his words, which Jason thought was odd because shaving cream and Jell-o sounded like something he wanted no part of. “No, you did the shaving cream and Jell-o thing to me. Because this guy,” she scowled at Jason just in case her message wasn't clear and Jason resisted the urge to scowl back, “wasn't even here when we got on the bus this morning.”
Leo wrinkled his nose at her and they made direct eye contact for several seconds in silence. They must have communicated something that Jason couldn't hear, though, because Leo laughed. “This is your idea of a prank? You telling me you don’t remember your boyfriend? Not your best work, Pipes.”
“Leo, I swear, I have never met that guy before in my life.”
Leo turned his amusement back on Jason. “You're serious, too? Committing to the bit?”
“I've never met either of you before in my life,” Jason said genuinely.
Leo looked startled and a bit hurt for a moment – which Jason felt really bad about – but he quickly slapped on a smile and he shrugged. “Yeah, alright. I'm willing to play in this space with you guys. So, first things first: we go to this place called Wilderness School, AKA where all the problem kids get dumped. I ran away six times, Piper stole a BMW—”
“No, I didn't!”
“Right, right, he let you borrow it.” Leo rolled his eyes and gave Jason a look he somehow knew he was supposed to laugh at, but didn't and Leo winced. “And you—” he cut himself off and looked at Jason curiously. “I actually don't know what you did. I don't think you’ve ever told us.”
“That's because neither of us have ever spoken to him before,” Piper insisted. “Leo, do you really think I'd somehow just completely forget a person but remember everything else? There's no way that's how amnesia works.”
“Actually, it can be. Kind of,” Leo shrugged. “Though I'm not sure how you would have gotten it. Both of you, actually. Pretty sure head injuries are usually involved.”
“Look, I don't think I'm supposed to be here at all,” Jason confessed. “I think Piper,” she looked annoyed that he dared to use her name, “is right. I don't think I was on this bus this morning.”
Leo seemed to consider that for a moment before he leaned around Piper to look at the seat beside them. “Hey! Mary! Lisa! You see the blonde dude behind me? I can't for the life of me remember his name. Help a guy out?”
The girls snickered at him, but the one with red hair replied, “Pretty sure that's Jason. He's the bodyguard you and Piper hired to follow you around and clean up your messes.”
Leo snapped his fingers and shot them a wink. “That's it! It was on the tip of my tongue. Thanks, ladies!” The girls giggled again and Leo turned back to Jason with a look that clearly said See? I told you.
“They didn't say anything about us being friends with him,” Piper pointed out. “And they definitely didn't say anything about me dating him.”
“It hasn't been that long and you two are trying to keep things quiet,” Leo explained. “And everyone calls Jason our bodyguard after he kicked Tyler's ass for us the first week he got here.”
“Why would you need me to kick someone's ass for you?”
“Well,” Leo said, drawing out the word with a mischievous grin. “It may or may not have involved replacing his laundry detergent with bleach and RIT dye, and because Tyler has more biceps than brain cells, Pipes and I kinda needed someone to swoop in and save our skins. Which is where you come in, Superman.” He turned and gave Piper a frown. “Surely you remember that.”
“I remember pranking Tyler,” Piper admitted. “But I also remember us having to hide on the roof until curfew and missing dinner to avoid becoming a news head line.”
Leo frowned at her and opened his mouth to say something but he was interrupted by a short man in pristine white athletic wear yelling at them from the front of the bus. “McLean! What are you doing? You were strictly told not to sit with Valdez!”
“Sorry, Coach. What was that? We couldn't hear you all the way back here!” Leo shouted back, completely ignoring the conversation they'd been having moments before. “Maybe your megaphone will help?”
“Coach” whoever that was, seemed pleased with the idea and picked up his bullhorn, but instead of his voice, the only thing that came out was a tinny recording bellowing “THE COW GOES MOO,” which caused the bus to erupt in uproarious laughter. Coach turned purple. “Valdez!”
Leo and Piper ducked their heads together and snickered, elbowing each other in the sides while Jason blinked at Leo in baffled wonder. “You did that?” he asked. “How?”
Leo smirked at him and wiggled his eyebrows, twirling a tiny screwdriver between his fingers. “You may not remember, but I can assure you that I am a very special boy.”
“You're a menace is what you are,” Piper teased, Jason seemingly forgotten.
“Oh, I'm the menace?” Leo snorted. “Care to remind the class who stole the megaphone?”
“That's it!” Coach shouted. He had abandoned the use of his favorite toy, but it still belted out the lyrics to “Old McDonald” because he had his fist in such a death grip that he wasn't able to let go of the button. “You three back there are going to be the official clean-up crew after lunch, capisce?”
Piper grumbled her discontent, and Leo rolled his eyes, but neither of them seemed all that upset. Something told Jason that the two of them were well-acquainted with lunch clean-up as a punishment. The mildly anxious churning in his stomach told Jason that he was not. He slouched down in his seat, trying to draw as little attention to himself as possible while Leo and Piper did whatever they could to seek it out. Leo turned back around and he actually looked concerned when he looked at Jason. “You're really doubling down on the not knowing us bit, huh?” He glanced at Piper. “The both of you.”
“I'm beyond serious,” Piper swore. “You know I wouldn't lie to you about this.”
Leo didn't say anything in response, he just frowned at Jason like he was trying to solve a Rubik’s Cube with seven colors. Jason turned and looked out the window, unwilling to meet his gaze.
*-*-*
The rest of the trip was blessedly short and quiet. Coach had yelled at them about how Piper and Leo still weren't allowed to sit together, which had led to the two of them bickering over who was to give up their spot. Leo eventually gave in to Piper’s insistence that she was not sitting with Jason, and he climbed over the back of the seat and flopped down at Jason's side. Coach yelled even more about that, and Leo accidentally kicked Jason in the jaw, but he politely kept that to himself. At first, Leo thought it would be fun to fill Jason in on all the stuff he'd forgotten, and started up his “Crash Course for the Amnesiac”. Jason wasn't sure how truthful it was, seeing as he'd claimed to be a gift from the gods and that Jason thought he was so cool that he did all of Leo’s chores and surrendered all of his desserts, but it was somewhat entertaining. Leo quickly grew bored, though, and started fiddling with a ball of pipe cleaners and popsicle sticks he'd pulled from his pocket. Based on the way his fingers twitched and his eyes darted around the bus, Jason was pretty sure Leo got bored often. Piper, on the other hand, was more than content with watching Jason with narrowed eyes over the back of the seat the whole time. It made her look like she was nothing but a nose and a pair of angry eyebrows, but Jason knew better than to point that out.
According to Leo, their destination was a museum on the Grand Canyon, not that that really meant anything to Jason. Coach was herding them towards a squat, red stucco building when he shouted, “Do not — I repeat do not get separated from your partners, do you hear me?”
Leo turned to Jason, likely to inform him that they were working together, but Piper grabbed his arm before he got the chance. “You're my partner, Leo,” she said firmly.
“Uh, sorry, but as the only one claiming to be a non-amnesiac, I'm here to tell you that I'm supposed to be with Jason.”
“We're always partners on field trips, though.”
“Yeah, which is part of the reason Coach Hedge banned us from working together,” Leo pointed out. Then, in a remarkably good impression added, “McLean, Valdez, if you so much as look at one another on this trip, you'll be getting a one-way ticket to the bottom, fast lane!”
“Which means you'll be working with me,” another voice drawled. Jason stiffened, which was the correct response, based on the disgust that crossed Leo and Piper's faces. Another boy, not quite as big as Jason, but definitely taller and broader than Leo and Piper both, had slung his arm around Piper's shoulders. “Lucky you.”
“Don't touch me, Dylan,” Piper snapped, and Jason felt a bit guilty over holding her hand earlier because she sounded very familiar with that particular phrase.
“Aw, don't be like that,” Dylan crooned. “Most girls would do anything to work with me.”
“What a coincidence. I'd do anything to avoid it.”
Dylan tilted his head back and laughed, running his fingers through his hair like he thought he was on some kind of commercial for hair care products designed to make you look like your hottest delinquent self. He looped his arms through Piper's and started dragging her along, ignoring the way she yanked to try getting away from him. Jason clenched his fists and grit his teeth.
“I hate that guy,” Leo said quietly. Jason turned to see Leo glaring after Dylan and Piper, and he looked so angry it made Piper's scowls from earlier seem almost cordial.
Jason reached out and brushed his knuckles along the back of Leo’s wrist. “Hey, you alright?”
“Yeah, I just hate that I—” Leo cut himself off with a sharp head shake and he gave Jason a wide smirk. “He's just so annoying, you know?” He rolled his eyes and put on a dumb little voice to say, “Wow, I am so cool and handsome and awesome. You guys are so lucky that you get to know me. I wish I could hang out with myself, but I can't figure out how, so you all will have to make do. Aren't I so generous? I'll take your thanks in the form of praises sung to my pure handsome awesomeness.”
Jason blinked down at Leo, but he couldn't really hide the way his voice trembled slightly on a suppressed laugh. “Leo, you are so weird.”
“Yeah, you tell me that a lot,” Leo grinned at him. “Now, come on. Let's get inside before Coach decides to make good on his Fast Pass promise.” He offered Jason his arm and batted his eyelashes like some kind of cartoon princess. “Shall we?”
Surprising both himself and Leo, Jason took the offered arm and let Leo drag him inside like Dylan had with Piper moments before. He figured that if his life was messed up enough that someone like Leo was his best friend that he might as well own it.
*-*-*
Jason thought that the museum was probably really cool and interesting, and he was pretty sure that he might like to revisit it one day, but a lot of different things made it very hard to pay attention that particular afternoon. Coach Hedge had apparently decided that using his megaphone was worth occasionally sounding like a Sith Lord or helpfully informing everyone around him about the sounds various barnyard animals made because he was constantly shouting instructions in it, every now and then one of the other kids would shove Jason or Leo from behind and snicker, and he was still suffering from amnesia. Jason suggested that maybe Leo should take him and Piper to an adult to get medical attention, but Leo had snorted and informed him that Coach Hedge was the only adult around and that his idea of “medical attention” would likely be hitting them both over the head with his baseball bat in order to knock their brains back in place. Jason told Leo he watched too many movies.
Leo was probably the most distracting thing, though. Ignoring the fact that he kept fishing a seemingly never-ending supply of nuts and bolts and string and wires out of his pocket to twist together, he was constantly bristling up at Jason's side and shooting murderous looks at some of the other girls in class. Jason understood why he was upset — after the third comment, he'd figured out that they were actively being mean to Piper, and even with her attitude towards him, he still clenched his fists with every sickly sweet barb thrown at her — but he couldn't understand why Leo wouldn't say anything. He'd just stand there and seethe in obvious resentment, but as soon as he noticed Jason looking at him, he plastered on a wide smile and made yet another dumb joke and pretended like he had no idea what Jason was talking about when he mentioned the girls.
“Look, do you want me to do something about them or not?” Jason asked flatly. One of the girls had said something incredibly stupid about a rain dance and he felt his temple throb with frustration. “Because I will make them stop. But only if you and Piper won't get mad at me.”
Leo stared at him in shock for a moment and Jason thought he might play dumb again, but instead he just gave Jason a rueful smile. “Do I want you to? Sure, I love to watch you stomp around and bash heads, especially if it's someone who deserves it. But you probably shouldn't. Piper would get mad at both of us if we tried to turn her into some sort of damsel. Besides, you—” he poked Jason in the chest, “definitely can't do anything. You're already on thin ice; if you start a fight while we're on a trip, you'll definitely wind up in ‘self-focused learning and meditation’ again, and you hated it last time.”
“What's self-focused learning and meditation?”
“Well, this place isn't actually a prison, so they can't call it solitary confinement, but that's basically what it is,” Leo explained. “You're taken out of the dorm and you have to sleep in a room by yourself and you do one-on-one classes with the disciplinary teacher and you go to meals at a different time from everyone. It's just you and your teacher slash prison guard for however many days they give you.”
“And I…” Jason gulped to quash down his queasiness. “I had to do that?”
“Once,” Leo shrugged. “You were stuck in it for three days and when you came out you didn't really want to talk about it. You made me and Piper promise to never let you get in enough trouble to do it again, though, which said plenty to me.”
Jason felt sick at the idea that he was ever getting in enough trouble to deserve that kind of punishment. He shuddered. “What about you and Piper? Have either of you had it?”
Leo shook his head. “Nah. Pipes and I make sure that they can't prove it was us. Everyone knows that we did it, but even Wilderness School follows the justice system. ‘If it doesn't fit, you must acquit’ and all that.”
Jason blinked. “What?”
Leo looked disappointed in him. “Dude.”
There was a sudden commotion and the two of them turned around to see Piper with her teeth almost bared at another girl, who was clutching her hand to her cheek in shock. “Coach, Piper just hit me!”
“No, I didn't!” Piper snapped back. She was subtly shaking out the fingers of her right hand, and having been on the receiving end of one of Piper's punches earlier, Jason almost felt bad for the other girl. Or, he would have if she weren't awful.
“Yes, you did!”
“No, I didn't!” Piper turned to one of the other girls. “Amy, tell Coach that she's lying!”
Amy suddenly looked like she'd been hit by an invisible truck. She stared at Piper like she'd never seen her before and then turned to Coach Hedge and stammered out, “Uh, yeah. I— I dunno why Macy is saying Piper hit her, Coach. She definitely didn't.”
Jason gaped at her. Anyone with eyes could see that Piper had obviously hit the other girl, but everyone was muttering to themselves about how they were pretty sure Piper was telling the truth. Then again, it's not like Jason saw Piper hit Macy, and if everyone seemed to be in agreement, then maybe—
Leo snorted at his side and gave Jason a wide grin. “That's the other reason we've never landed in solitary. Piper is scary convincing when she wants to be.”
Coach actually seemed to be the one person Piper hadn't managed to convince, but it didn't really matter because he didn't really care. “No fighting! Now, come on, cupcakes,” he called. “You are about to see the Grand Canyon. Try not to break it. The skywalk can hold the weight of seventy jumbo jets, so you featherweights should be safe out there. If possible, try to avoid pushing each other over the edge, as that would cause me extra paperwork.”
Jason let Leo lead him outside, and when he did, the air rushed out of his lungs. He wasn't sure what he was expecting the Grand Canyon to look like, but this was beyond anything he could imagine. Jason had known that they would be pretty high up based on the drive, but he hadn't appreciated just how deep it would be. The cliffs were made of layers upon layers of rock, each one of them a distinct color from the one next to it like a rainbow of browns and oranges and grays. Bushes and trees were dotted around, but they were so far off that they just looked like little smudges of green to Jason. They were so high up that even birds were flying in lazy circles beneath their feet, and down at the bottom the winding river cut through the rock like a sacrificial knife through the gut of a teddy bear.
Jason winced at the sharp pain that burst behind his eyes and rubbed his brow. He had no idea where the comparison had come from. What kind of person thought to compare one of the wonders of the natural world to teddy bear slaughter? But it felt important. It felt like an omen. Like something big was coming and he had to prepare.
A hand tugged at his shirt sleeve and he turned to see Leo staring at him with his eyebrows puckered in concern. “Hey, man, are you alright? You don't look too good.”
“I'm fine,” Jason dismissed, shaking his head. “I've just got a headache. You're the one who said I had some kind of brain injury, remember?” Leo didn't look convinced, so Jason offered him a weak smile. “Come on. Let's get a better look over the edge.”
Leo followed him, but the closer they got to the edge, the antsier Leo got. When a cold wind blew across the skywalk hard enough that it would have knocked him down if Jason hadn't been there to steady him he scowled up at the sky. “Dude, there is no way this is safe. Look at this storm. It's literally right above us and nowhere else. There's gotta be some freaky weather shit going on.”
Jason looked up and saw what Leo was talking about. There was an inky black storm cloud above them — a perfect anvil-shaped cumulonimbus, and Jason didn't stop to wonder why he knew that of all things — but everywhere else was the same crystal clear skies they had driven through on the way here. Coach shouted something about making their time out there quick, and Jason's headache got worse. He stuffed his hands in the pocket of his jeans and frowned when his fingers brushed up against something cold.
He pulled it out and examined it. It was a coin. It appeared to be solid gold, about the size of an extra thick half dollar, but it was lumpy like the person who made it wasn't exactly skilled at making coins. A battle ax was stamped on one side, and some guy surrounded by laurels was on the other. Carved around the edge were the letters IVLIVS.
“Dude, what is that?” Jason turned to see Leo eyeing the coin appreciatively. “Is that real gold? Can we sell it?” A thought occurred to him, and he gave Jason a betrayed look. “Wait, don't tell me you were rich this whole time, too. It's bad enough that Piper is richer than the Pope, but I thought you were middle class at best.”
Jason’s frown deepened. His grip on the coin tightened like it was a safety blanket. It felt important. like he was going to need it soon. He stuffed it back in his pocket.
“I dunno. Pretty sure it's just a coin, though.”
Leo raised an eyebrow at him, but he shrugged, happy to let it go to move onto bigger and better things. By this point, Jason was pretty sure Leo was always moving in every sense of the word. “Come on. Dare you to spit over the edge.”
*-*-*
Jason wanted to say that he and Leo put effort into their worksheet, but that would be a lie. In his defense, he didn’t know what most of the words meant. How was he supposed to “name three sedimentary strata” or “describe two examples of erosion” when he was asking Leo to define every other word? Besides that, he was still more than a little distracted by the freaky storm and his own mixed-up feelings and making sure to avoid Piper’s gaze every time she saw him talking to Leo.
Leo wasn’t exactly helpful, either. He was too busy messing with his pipe cleaners and popsicle sticks from earlier. He didn’t even have his worksheet because he’d apparently folded it up into a flock of birds when he was bored in class the day before.
“Were they able to fly?” Jason asked, tilting his head to the side.
Leo snorted. “Would you believe me if I said yes?”
“Probably.”
“Then yes. The origami cranes I made in pre-cal were absolutely capable of self-sustained flight,” Leo said with a fond eye roll. “Now, watch this.”
As Jason watched, Leo furtively glanced both ways before gently tossing his pipe cleaner contraption over the side of the fence. Jason could tell it was a little helicopter now that it wasn’t hidden by Leo’s hands. He expected it to immediately spiral down and crash, but instead the little propellers actually spun and got halfway across the canyon before giving out. Jason gawked at where it fell before turning back to Leo. He was definitely sure that if Leo told him he’d somehow managed to fold life into his origami, Jason would believe him. “How did you do that? That was amazing.”
Leo’s grin from before came back, wide enough to make his nose wrinkle. “You should have seen the prototype. It would have worked loads better if Mrs. James hadn’t confiscated my rubber bands.”
Jason couldn’t help but notice that Leo didn’t actually answer his question of how it was done, but he figured he probably wouldn’t understand even if Leo had whipped out a blackboard and gone over every step. “Are you sure we’re friends?”
“Last I checked, yeah.”
“How?” Jason asked earnestly. “Like, how did we meet? Why did we start hanging out? What was our first conversation like?”
Leo frowned. “Hey, man, I’ve got ADHD. You know I’m not great with remembering details like that. I just remember that you came to school around the time they decided Piper and I couldn’t share a dorm, so you and I wound up together. You didn’t really talk to anyone at first, and then, like I told you, you saved us from Tyler that one time and the three of us have been inseparable since. I don’t know why you’re making such a big deal out of this.”
“Because I don’t remember any of it,” Jason insisted. “I don’t remember you or Piper or Wilderness School. I don’t remember anything but it feels like I’m not supposed to be here. I don’t know why you and everyone but Piper remembers me but I feel like…”
“Like we’re all wrong and you’re the only one who’s right?” Leo suggested. “What, like we all have fake memories? Piper’s the only one remembering stuff properly?”
Jason winced. It sounded crazy when Leo put it to words, but a little voice in his head screamed Yes! That’s exactly what I think! “Yeah, pretty much.”
Leo pursed his lips. “Look. Jason. I don’t think I like this game you and Piper are playing anymore. Like, I never thought it was all that funny to begin with, but at this point keeping at it is kind of just a dick move. Can you just drop it? You got me, okay? Haha, Leo caved first or whatever. But this sucks, alright?”
“I’m sorry,” Jason said softly. He felt a bit like a horse had kicked him in the chest, but that didn’t change the facts. “I’m sorry, but I really don’t remember you.”
Leo looked like he wanted to be angry, but any fire in his eyes was doused by the little well of hurt that it was sitting on. He turned his head sharply. “Give me the worksheet. I’m going to go describe shale or whatever.”
Jason dutifully handed over the paper and watched Leo turn on his heel and wander over towards one of the podiums with fun facts that they’d mocked together not too long ago. Jason couldn’t help but feel a bit like a dog who had been left on the side of the street. No matter what Leo said or thought, Jason didn’t know these people, and so far Leo had been the only person willing to give him the time of day.
He looked around feeling a bit lost when a gruff voice shouted, “Hey, blondie!”
Jason’s head whipped around. Coach Hedge was staring him down, but he still looked around him before pointing at himself. “Yes! You! Come here!”
Jason did as he was ordered and trotted over to Coach Hedge’s side. “Uh, yes, Coach? Sir?”
Coach Hedge visibly recoiled at the title. “Don’t call me that. It’s unnatural.”
“Uh, sorry. Coach.”
He snorted, then gave Jason a critical look over and gestured at the sky. “Is this you?”
“Is what me?”
*-*-*
“Don’t toy with me, kid,” Coach Hedge snapped glaring up at him from under the white brim of his baseball cap. “You and I both know this storm isn’t natural. Now, tell me who you are, where you came from, and why you’re trying to screw up my job.”
Jason’s heart leapt. “So, you don’t know who I am? I’m not one of your students?”
“Never seen you before today.”
Jason wasn’t sure if he was going to cry, collapse, or kiss the short gym teacher. Well, he was pretty sure he wasn’t going to kiss Coach Hedge, but the other two options were still on the table. “Look, I don’t know who I am or how I got here. I woke up on the bus with no memory and Leo just started telling me that we’re best friends. I just know I’m definitely not supposed to be here.”
“You can say that again!” Coach Hedge barked. Then his voice got dangerously low and quiet and Jason felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand straight up. “Listen here, kid. You may know your way around manipulating the Mist with the way you have everyone fooled, but you couldn’t get one past me. I’ve been smelling a monster for a while now, but I can tell it’s not you. You smell like a half-blood and a powerful one at that. Now. Tell me who you are and how you got here.”
Jason felt a bit closer to crying than before, but he grit his teeth. “I told you, I don’t know. I don’t remember anything before waking up on the bus earlier. You’ve gotta believe me. I need help.”
Coach Hedge studied him, and then, for some reason, he took in a deep breath through his nose like he was trying to sniff something out. Whatever he smelled was obviously unpleasant because he grimaced. “Great. You’re telling the truth.”
“Of course I am! I’ve been telling the truth all day, you’re just the first person to believe me. And what do you mean about Mist and monsters and half-bloods? Are you part of some secret organization? Are those codewords or something?”
Coach narrowed his eyes at him. “I can’t tell you who you are, I can just tell you what you are, and right now what you are is a major problem. I already had my hands full protecting two before, I wasn’t exactly planning on someone coming in and making it three. Wait, are you the ‘special package’?”
“I don’t think so? What package?”
Coach glowered up at the storm which was getting worse by the minute. Some of the other students had started to notice, and were muttering to one another and gesturing at the dark clouds. Jason quickly looked around for Leo, who was standing a safe distance from the edge and shifting from foot to foot like he was going to take off running at a moment’s notice, and Piper, who was glaring at Dylan like this was somehow his fault.
“I got a message from Camp this morning,” Coach said. “There’s an extraction team on the way. Said there was some special package that they needed to get as soon as possible, but they wouldn’t tell me what it was. I figured it was the two I was watching. They’re obviously powerful and older than most and I know for a fact that there’s something after them. Thought maybe Camp had just decided they needed these two ASAP, but then you show up and throw a wrench in every plan. So, tell me. Are you the package or not?”
Jason’s headache was getting even worse. Everything Coach Hedge was saying sounded crazy, but at the same time it made sense. Well, it almost made sense. It felt like an encrypted message and Jason just needed to remember the cipher key. “I told you. I don’t know.”
Coach wasn’t pleased with his answer, but he seemed to understand it was the only one Jason could give him. “Fine. I’ll just keep an eye on you until reinforcements arrive. Then we’ll take you to Camp, and the director can figure out what to do with you.”
Jason did not like that phrasing. “What director? What do you mean ‘do with me’?”
“Just sit tight. Like I said, they should be here soon. We just have to hope nothing happens before–”
Lightning crashed directly overhead and thunder rolled loud enough to shake the earth and Jason froze. Kids started screaming and stumbling around, clinging to each other. Jason whipped his head around to see Piper and Leo scramble towards each other, but Dylan grabbed Piper’s arm and yanked her back, and the wind blew Leo so hard he fell over.
Coach swore under his breath. “I just had to say something, didn’t I? Couldn’t keep my big mouth shut.” He pulled out his bullhorn, and Jason was relieved that it worked as intended this one time. “Alright, everyone! Back in the museum! Off the skywalk! Now! Move it or lose it! Lawrence, get your tail in gear or you’ll be doing suicides until you die!”
“I thought you said this thing was stable!” Jason yelped as the bridge shuddered and swayed beneath his feet.
“Under normal circumstances, it is.” Coach said seriously. “These circumstances are anything but normal. Come on!”
*-*-*
The freaky storm from before had churned itself up into a hurricane. Funnel clouds formed and dipped, reaching towards the bridge, but never quite making it all the way down. Jason could almost hear a taunting voice snickering I’m not touching you! I’m not touching you!
Hats and notebooks and backpacks whipped back and forth through the air, their owners having abandoned them to the winds in their panic to get inside. Jason slipped and skidded across the slick glass to where Leo had been knocked over and hoisted him to his feet by the back of his jacket.
“Thanks!” Leo yelled. “But can you maybe go for a less ‘momma cat and kitten’ approach next time?”
“I’ll keep that in mind,” Jason said distractedly. “Come on, we need to get inside!”
Coach Hedge was blue in the face blowing on his whistle, waving kids into the museum where Piper and Dylan were struggling to keep the doors open. Well, Piper was struggling. Her snowboarding jacket was flapping all around her and her expression was screwed up in effort to keep her door from slamming shut, but she still seemed confident as she urged the other students inside. Dylan just stood there, holding his door with one hand, not a hair out of place while he watched the chaos with something like amusement on his face.
Soon, Jason, Leo, and Coach Hedge were the only ones left outside. Jason pushed forward, keeping his grip on the back of Leo’s jacket to make sure he wouldn’t blow away, but every step felt like he was towing a pick-up truck behind him. Jason wasn’t sure how, but he knew with every fiber of his being that the winds were fighting him specifically.
Then, as soon as the last kid was inside, Dylan grinned malevolently and slammed the door shut with a blast of wind that managed to knock Piper’s grip loose, too. Piper uselessly yanked at the door handles, before rounding on Dylan with fury in her eyes. “Help me,” she snarled.
Surprisingly, Dylan reached out a hand for the door, but shook his head and dropped it just as fast. He smirked at Piper. “Sorry, but it’s time for the next act in our show. And I don’t need you interrupting it with your little tricks.” He flicked his wrist and Piper went soaring through the air to land in a heap against a nearby wall.
“Piper!” Leo cried. He tried to charge forward, but Jason held him back. “Lemme go!”
“Stay behind me, kids!” Coach Hedge barked. He had his baseball bat in his hands, but as Jason watched it started to look less like a baseball bat and more like a crude club with leaves and vines growing off it. “I knew there was a monster skulking around. I should have known it was you!”
“What are you talking about?” Leo demanded. A worksheet hit him in the face, but he smacked it away. “What monsters?”
As if to answer his question, a gust of wind snatched Coach’s hat right off his head. There, below his curly hair were two little horns. He hefted his club. “Come at me!”
“Why bother?” Dylan cackled cruelly. “It’s not like you’re a threat. I mean, they retired you, didn’t they? That’s why you’re at this school in the first place. And it’s not like you’re doing all that well here, either. I was on your track team for two months, right under your nose, and you never noticed. Do you really think you can keep three half-bloods safe? Admit it, you old goat; you’ve lost your touch.”
Coach bleated angrily at him. “I’ll show you who’s lost their touch, cupcake! You’re going down!”
Dylan’s smile was maniacal. “Not before that one does.” He pointed at Leo and a dark funnel cloud erupted from his fingertip, snatching Leo out of Jason’s hold and sending him toppling over the side of the bridge.
“Leo!” Jason shouted, eyes wide with horror.
As Jason watched, Leo scrambled at the rocky cliff face, and finally managed to get a foothold on a thin outcropping of stone. His eyes were screwed shut and his voice pitched a bit when he shouted, “Hey! Can someone please come get me? This really fucking sucks!”
Jason looked around desperately for some sort of rope, but Coach was faster. He shoved his club at Jason’s chest and said, “You take care of that windbag! I’ll get Valdez.”
“How? Can you fly?”
“Not fly, kid.”
Then Coach did something Jason would never forget: He dropped his pants.
That would have been traumatizing enough on its own, but Jason now had to grapple with the fact that his PE coach had goat legs. “You’re a faun!”
Coach gave him a disgusted look. “I’m a satyr. Now, get in there!” Then without another word, he hopped over the fence and started picking his way down with the confidence and efficiency of a mountain goat. Which, he kind of was. Jason’s formerly-forgotten headache throbbed a bit, and he decided to think about anything but the half-goat man. He turned back to Dylan and gripped the club.
Dylan snorted at him. “Cute. But yeah, I’ll take you out first. I’m flexible.”
He lifted his hand, but before he could blink Jason threw the club at him with all his might. Had Jason even thought about what he was doing for half a second, he likely would have dismissed the idea because there was no way he would have managed to hit Dylan through all the wind. Fortunately, Jason was running on pure instinct because the club curved through the air like Jason was guiding it with his mind and hit Dylan directly in the gut, knocking him flat on his butt.
Dylan got back to his feet before Jason could celebrate his victory. He spat blood – gold blood – onto the ground. His eyes flashed like lightning and the winds picked up around him, shaking the skywalk so hard that hairline fractures spread over the glass like spider webs. He rose into the sky and then his body dissolved into smoke. Jason could still see where he was, his face was still the same – oddly handsome, contorted in rage – but he was see-through and almost angelic in a strange, evil kind of way.
“You’re a ventus!” Jason gasped, though he couldn’t say how he knew that. “A storm spirit!”
“You have no idea what you’ve done,” Dylan snarled. “I was considering letting you live before this. The other two would have made a fine prize, but my mistress told me to wait. Said another was coming. I’m sure she will be pleased to know that I killed you here.”
Jason clenched his fists. He was unarmed, but when he glanced over to where Coach’s club had rolled off to, he saw that Piper was on her feet, club held aloft like she was getting ready to hit a homerun. She had the element of surprise; maybe if Jason kept Dylan busy, she could sneak up on him and make good on the murder in her eyes.
Dylan was too quick for him. Before he could open his mouth, two inky black tornados carrying their own storm spirits touched down in front of Piper and Dylan lifted his hand and blasted two bolts of lightning directly into Jason’s chest.
Surprisingly, Jason wasn’t dead. He’d lost one of his shoes, so his sock was soaking wet, and his mouth tasted like he’d gotten his chewing gum confused with a jar of fifty year old pennies, but he was alive. He blinked the stars out of his eyes and saw Piper furiously swinging at the storm spirits around her, but every swing passed through them. That didn’t stop the storm spirits from being scared of her, though, evident by the way neither of them would get close to her. Beyond that, Jason saw Coach Hedge bouncing up the cliff with a Leo-shaped koala clinging to his back.
Dylan swaggered towards him, back in his normal teenager body, with a smirk on his face, and Jason’s chest filled with rage. With a grunt of effort, he pushed himself to his feet and glared at Dylan. “Cute,” he spat, venom dripping from his tone.
Dylan pulled up short and he looked terrified for a moment. “How are you alive? That was enough electricity to short out New York City! Just who are you?”
Jason ignored him. Once again acting on impulse, he reached into his pocket and pulled out the old gold coin. He tossed it in the air, but when he grabbed it, it wasn’t a coin any more. It was a sword, gold all the way through, perfectly balanced, with a handle that felt like it was designed to fill Jason’s palm. Jason felt something click into place in the back of his mind and he gave Dylan a wicked grin. “My turn.”
“Kill him!” Dylan screeched, backing away with wild eyes. “Kill him!”
The other two storm spirits didn’t exactly look thrilled at the order, but apparently Dylan was the windbag in charge, so they abandoned their assault on Piper and started slowly approaching Jason.
Jason didn’t wait for them. With a battle cry from the depths of his chest, he charged. It wasn’t a long fight. Jason sliced through them both, shattering them into gold dust, and turned his attention back on Dylan.
At that moment, Coach hefted himself over the edge of the bridge and dropped Leo, then whirled around with his fists up like he was ready to start boxing. When he realized that Dylan was the only one left, he scowled at Jason. “Really? You couldn’t have left some for me? I was looking for a challenge!”
“Leo almost died!” Piper snapped. “You do not need to be asking for challenges!” She and Leo had immediately run together as soon as he was back on the bridge and they were clinging to each other. Jason was relieved to see that Leo looked no worse for wear, though he was smearing blood from his hands all over Piper’s jacket, but Jason doubted if either of them cared all that much.
Dylan didn’t pay attention to them, he was too busy glaring at Jason. “You have no idea what kinds of enemies you’ve made today, demigod. My mistress will awaken, and she will bring with her foes you couldn’t dream of. She will destroy all demigods. You cannot win this war.”
Jason tightened his grip on his sword. “Yeah? Well, I’ll be sure to tell your mistress hi for you, because you’re not going to get the chance to do it.”
The sky opened up above them, clear blue in the sea of black, and Dylan smirked at Jason triumphantly. “My mistress calls me back, and I’m taking you with me.”
Dylan dove towards Jason, who braced himself for the attack that never came. In a burst of heroic goat-itude, Coach Hedge headbutted Dylan so hard it knocked him completely off-course and sent him rolling away. Unfortunately, it also caused a blast of wind that knocked Jason and Coach on their butts and separated Piper and Leo.
Jason tried to attack, but Dylan was faster. He grabbed the closest person to him, Piper and took off into the skies. “Fine! I’ll settle for this one!”
“Help!” Piper screamed. “Somebody help!”
Jason froze, considering if he could throw his sword with enough accuracy to hit Dylan without getting Piper, but in that split second Coach Hedge had already made and executed his plan. He ran at the ledge, then with all the strength he had in his little goat legs, he launched himself at Dylan and Piper. He barreled into them mid-air, and they scuffled for a moment.
Then Piper fell.
“Piper!” Leo screamed, flinging himself at the side, half hanging over and reaching out towards her, grasping at nothing but air. “Piper!”
Without a thought, Jason jumped after her.

RAINCODE COMIC DUB~🎙️
NEW PROJECT ALERT!
Story takes place at the start of Chapter 4 (MINOR SPOILERS)
Comic Title drawn by Kazin (as well as the whole comic)
Here's the Dub! Vocals and Editing done by me 🎙️📑 Enjoy!!
Further Rambling Below
Hehe I bet you all didn't think voice acting was among my list of hidden hobbies/talents didja? (I’m just full of surprises x3) Well... I can only hope that I delivered well enough here. (please feel free to laugh at my attempted Yakou voice… LMAO)
So this is yet another collab project that @kazinsblog and I did together. The story is based on a kokowendy ch4 canon divergent skit that I made way back last fall. When Kazin saw it, she wanted to make it into a full comic. I didn't protest (I never do LOL) but then I wanted to try something.
I've never attempted a solo dub of a comic before, and honestly I didn't think I would with RainCode due to a majority of the characters being male. Sadly with my naturally high voice I can only do so much with attempting male voices. I usually only do female or child character voices.
But since Kurumi is the lead role of this story, and has the most lines, I decided to give it a try. I do love Kurumi (she's my best girl) so I hope I did her justice here. I like to think I did her voice fairly well. I struggled a bit with the guys (and Halara) but I think my Yuma is decent enough... x'D (plus it was really fun making him sound tired and out of breath :3)
I do enjoy Kokowendy as a ship, though I'm not a huge shipper. But these two are just too cute... ;w; So I think a scenario like this suits them both. Plus it gives Kurumi a chance to be reliable and try to help her beloved hero in his time of need <3 Honestly it can even be seen as platonic. Its very tame (the only small hint is that Yuma blushes at some point, but that's it)
I had a lot of fun doing this!! I got the voices and editing done in only 3 days, so it’s definitely not a long lasting project. (on my end anyway) But I still think it’s a pretty big project with all of the work both of us did. Editing the video was probably the most fun part for me >w< I knew exactly what BGM and sound effects I wanted months in advance c: I only hope I did the editing style of it right. Comic dubs are very peculiar in the way they’re done… 💦 (also no I’m not putting this on YouTube, this is a tumblr exclusive ONLY! And I give NOBODY permission to re-upload it without my consent!)
I’m not sure if I'm the first that's attempted a RC comic dub before, but if I am, then I am very happy c: Idk if I'll do another full one though. Like I said too many of the characters are male... x'D This may be a one time thing for me here. But if I were to do one, I figured why not on a comic that was made specifically for me? c: (ty again kazin!💕)
Anyway I'm done yapping now, I hope you all enjoy! 💜 Feel free to let me know what you think or which role you enjoyed from me the most! (tho I think the answer is obvious lol)
