Actually. As much as I laugh at myself for being “””old””” and call myself a grandpa/uncle/elder gay and laugh along when ppl dunk on me for being older than other college students. It does get to me sometimes bc it’s like hey there’s a reason it took me longer than you guys actually.
You people have no idea how hard I had to fight to be able to go to college let alone make it to grad school. Pointing and laughing nonstop at the disabled guy who’s still in school at 26 is not as funny as you think it is actually. (It’s also so normal to be in college Especially grad school at any age + 26 is young but that’s another discussion.)
Not to mention I’m insecure enough abt being surrounded by people younger than me as a disabled bi man who has to watch my every move so closely for fear of being labeled a pedophile for existing in public where kids and younger adults may be. The occasional joke among friends is all well and good but maybe let me live bc I’m fucking trying over here
#you don’t actually have to remind me I’m a freak for being 26 I already feel isolated enough around 18-23 year olds#im already terrified of feeling like my life is delayed or im behind n running out of time. don’t rub it in#and it’s like. I’m not allowed to joke abt my own age or it’s seen as like feeling superior to younger people#but I’m also not allowed to feel any type of way when people tell me my life is practically over and I have no place here#like do u want me to have a sense of humor abt it or not. why am i the only one who’s not supposed to make fun of me#mine#txt#vent post#personal

The Three Times Natasha Proposed to You and the One Time You Said Yes
pairing: Natasha Romanoff x reader
summary: your girlfriend has a habit of proposing, and you have a habit of saying no.
a/n: I was gonna do this with katniss but decided it worked better with my favorite spy and also its been way to long since I wrote for herrrrrr ahhhh anyway, I LOVE HER YOUR HONOR
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
The first time Natasha proposed to you, you had only known her for 18 hours.
You were new to the team. So new in fact that you only knew three people’s names at a table with eight people since the other five were too busy all day to introduce themselves. Dinner was awkward, for you at least, as everyone else was busy chatting about their days with each other. They’re laughing, the bond they all share clear as joy feels the air.
You don’t feel that joy.
It’s not like you’re not happy to be here; you’re insanely grateful that Fury was willing to see past your history and allow you to join forces such as the incredible ones around you, but you just don’t feel very welcomed.
You don’t blame the team. After all, it’s only the first day, and Fury already told you about the fact that most of the people on that team aren’t very warm and friendly. It does kind of bug you though, how now the people you’re not familiar with even seem to notice your presence in the group.
It’s just the first day. Things will get better. You repeat for the 100th time, eyes trained on the table as you spoon some more of the food that was in the kitchen when Jarvis called for you into your mouth. It’s chicken over rice, a simple recipe, but the chicken is covered in some type of delicious sauce that you can’t get enough of.
“Is the food okay? It’s my family's recipe.” A girl with brunette hair and jade colored eyes sitting across from you speaks, nervously smiling as she pushes her fork around the food on her plate. She’s young, younger than everyone else on the team, and it makes you feel a bit better about being new as you remember what Fury said about her only joining about half a year ago.
You give a hesitant smile, answering honestly; “Oh…yeah. I love it. It’s delicious.”
The girl smiles brighter, reaching across the table to hold out her hand for you to shake. “It’s nice to officially meet you. Fury’s told me alot about you. I’m Wanda.”
“All good things I hope.” You giggle before introducing yourself, and she laughs along with you before you both go back to eating. The rest of the team slowly introduces themselves, and out of the corner of your eye you go see the way Wanda cringes when they only do it after she gave an example.
Even if they only did it once the girl made them realize, you still feel a bit more comfortable here then you did a while ago.
You notice Wanda eyeing your rings as you guys continue to eat, so you put your hand on the table in between you too. Her eyes shoot up to you in surprise, clearly not knowing that you noticed it. “Sorry for the staring. I just…I really like your rings. I love wearing them myself and I’ve never seen any like that. They’re beautiful.”
That’s how you guys start up in a conversation about rings, and then a few minutes later you’re sliding off one of your rings to give to her. She seems like the nicest person here, and you can already tell you’re going to be great friends. When you get it off, it accidently flies out of your hand, bouncing on the table before it falls off and lands somewhere on the floor. You turn red in embarrassment at the way everyone falls silent, staring at you in amusement before a redheaded woman slides out of her seat and kneels down on one knee to search for the item.
You met her earlier when you went to the gym to train, and she even helped you learn a few awesome fighting moves before she left to let you do your own thing. You can’t deny that Natasha is beautiful.
The woman smiles when she finds it, grasping the metal in her hand before she turns to face you, still on one knee as she holds it out for you to take as if she’s proposing.
If she notices the way it looks, she doesn’t say anything until Tony, the man you met when he blew up a lab earlier, laughs and mumbles under his breath, “I’m not paying for that wedding.”
You giggle, watching as Natasha stands up and turns to glare at him before facing you once again and putting it on the table near your plate. “Shut up Tony.” She mumbles before sitting back down in her own seat, and you say before shoving food into your mouth when the embarrassment sets in, “I’m not ready to settle down. Sorry Nat.”
Everyone just chuckles, and you are left with a small smile and new found happiness.
The second time she’d done it, she’d almost had you fooled that it was real.
You and her had been dating for three months, and you guys were absolutely inseparable. You’ve learned a lot about her in the year you’ve been an Avenger, and she sometimes opens up about her past. Her little sister, the red room, Dreykov.
Anyway, Fury had sent you on a mission with her, your best friend Wanda, and Steve Rogers to go and steal a flash drive from a destroyed hydra base then find some place quickly to look at what's on it. He said to find the nearest place as people would already be on the search for us, so that's why you got Nat to pull over at a mall. Not for clothes or a new pair of shoes, but to go into one of the electronic stores and use one of their computers to read what's on the file.
It was easy until Natasha noticed one of the workers looking at Steve in suspicion as they see him inserting the drive into one of the computers, and you’re about to abort the mission before your girlfriend grabs your hands and tugs you to the middle of the store, dropping into one knee and glancing at Wanda. The witch seems to get the hint even though you don’t understand what's happening, but you do when the young girl uses her magic to make a ring appear in Natashas hand. It’s beautiful, but you can tell it’s just an illusion to fool the people around you as small red whisps surround your best friend's hands.
“I’ve loved you since the day I met you.” The redhead starts, loud enough to attract the attention of everyone in the store but too loud as to not seem unusual. “I know you’re having my brother's baby,” She continues with that most serious face you’ve ever seen, and you have to try your hardest not to burst out laughing. “But I can treat you better than he ever could.”
The whole crowd of people in the store are now focused on you, even the workers which gives Steve the time he needs to enter the hard drive into one of the computers and read what's on it.
“So what do you say hottie? You wanna do this or not? Marry me?” You stare at her for a few minutes, eyes glancing at the blonde haired man who silently laughs at the scene in front of him before sending you a thumbs up to show he’s done and you guys can go.
“No!” Everyone quietly gasps, all looking away as Natasha fakes offense. “No! What the fuck? What kind of proposal is this? I’m just trying to buy a new phone, Stacy! And you’ve got a huge barbecue stain on that sweater. This is truly the best you could do?”
You're having way too much fun with it as you scoff before gently slapping her, trying your hardest not to laugh at the way everyone gasps even louder while you storm out.
Your friends and girlfriend quickly catch up with you, and you all finally burst out laughing by the time you’re getting in the car and driving away from the mall right as some scary looking military vehicle pulls up to the building. “Did you have to slap me?” Natasha laughs out, the ring box Wanda had magically created is now gone as she sits next to you in the back seat. “I feel like you enjoyed that way too much.”
“I did enjoy it. I’m also just practicing for the day you do propose to me.” She lets out a fake annoyed groan, slinging an arm over your shoulder as she pulls you to lay against her side.
Despite the playful mood, you can’t help but feel a fluttery feeling in your chest and a warm blush coating your face at the thought of being married to this girl. Little did you know, she was feeling the exact same.
When she did it a third time, it almost seemed like it was second nature for her to pull out a ring box and propose to you.
You had just got back to the Avengers tower after a lunch date, and she froze on the doorstep when she realized you were no longer beside her. She turns in circles, panic filling her when she doesn’t see you. She’s a spy for fuck sakes, how could she have not noticed something happening to you.
Her panic fades when you pop out from behind a thick tree, a snowball made from the small amount of snow on the grass in hand as you send her a mischievous smile. She doesn’t have any time to move before you’re launching it in her direction, practically falling over with laughter as it hits her forehead and then breaks into pieces.
The redhead still seems a bit shocked, but she quickly gets over it as she groans with a grin and runs over to harshly tackle you to the ground. It knocks the wind out of you, but you’re both still laughing so hard your stomach hurts as she grabs some snow from beside your head and then lets it fall onto you. “You wanna play that fucking game? Oh we can play that game honey.”
You shake your head, but the bright smile on your face tells her that you’re not actually scared. “No. I’m sorry Tasha. We can talk this out.” When she makes a, “tsk…tsk” noise with her mouth, you use all your strength to push her off of you, sprinting towards your home even though you can hear the sound of Natasha’s boots hastily crunching the snow beneath them as she runs after you.
She wraps her arms around your waist, easily picking you up off the ground and spinning you around. As cringy as it is, your laugh makes her laugh, and the moment is so perfect as she slowly lets you down so she can look you in the eyes.
“Wait a second.” Natasha mumbles, before grabbing something from her pocket, telling you to turn around for a minute while she makes you a surprise. You draw shapes in the snow in the meantime, your fingers practically numb but by the time you’re done, every planet is drawn into the frozen canvas. “Alright. Turn around.” She speaks again, and your smile grows- if possible- at the sight.
She’s messily formed a ring with the wrapper from a straw at dinner, and now she’s balanced on one knee in the icy snow as she grins up at you. “Will you marry me, and be mine forever?”
You pretend to think about it for a moment, finally holding at your left hand for her to put the ring on as you yell out, “Of course I’ll marry you!”
The russian girl laughs, once again picking you up to twirl you around before she sets you down to kiss you easier.
From a window high up in the Avengers tour, Wanda watches the interaction while drinking her tea and then closing her curtains. “When is she gonna do it for real?” She whispers to herself, already so done with the fact that Natasha has proposed to you three times, and yet she hasn’t been able to wear a pretty bridesmaid dress in her whole live.
The day Natasha proposed in the privacy of the cabin Tony’s letting you borrow for a weekend, twinkling lights dressing the living room and the dining table decorated with candles, rose petals and fancy wine that’s probably from Pepper, was the time you know she wasn't kidding.
As the sun sets behind the clouds, you and Natasha sit across from each other with your free hands hooked together beside your plates. The setting sun casts gentle rays upon your face from the window, illuminating your features with a golden light. You two share a quiet, comfortable silence for a moment before she looks up from her plate to you, a smile gracing her lips. You look at Natasha, heart beating softly in your chest from the soft, gentle atmosphere of the moment. She lets go of her fork to use that hand to grab ahold of your other hand, your fingertips intertwined gently. Your eyes meet across the table, and for a second it’s just you guys in the world.
The girl then speaks, her words sincere and clear, as she makes her proposal. "I want to spend the rest of my life with you; I’ve wanted to since the first date we went on. I was scared though…..scared of finding someone I love in a world that could take it away so easily. But now….now I realize. It doesn’t matter. As long as I get to be with you for what time we have left, it’s worth it. So," she says softly, tilting her head to the side and smiling as she grabs a ring box from her pocket and opening it so you can see the diamond ring inside before standing up from her seat so she can get down on one knee next to the table.
"Will you marry me?"
The question hangs in the air as you gaze into the girl's eyes and processes the words. Your mind reels from the unexpectedness of it all, but you also can't help the surge of joy welling in her chest.
“Yes. Yes of course I will!” Her grin brightens, and she’s still kneeled as she wraps her arms around your waist to hug you as tight as she can. You join her on your knees so you’re on her level, grabbing her face with both hands and pulling her into a passionate kiss. You would’ve married her the first time she asked, but you’re somehow glad you waited until now to say yes. This is perfect.

Heian Era! Sukuna having a daughter? (Who is a daddy’s girl or a mixture of a daddy’s and mama’s girl?)
𝗱𝗮𝗱𝗱𝘆’𝘀 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹 w. ryomen sukuna
a/n. loved this idea so i couldn’t help but make hcs about them!
ᰔᩚ i firmly believe she’d be the spitting image of her father. she’d have some of her mama’s features but growl and bite just like her daddy.
ᰔᩚ she’d be such a menace compared to the other children.
ᰔᩚ always on daddy’s lap, listening to his stories or receiving his gentle pats.
ᰔᩚ sukuna would be the type to ruffle his daughter’s hair before sending her to terrorize other kids.
ᰔᩚ you know that one pic of hemsworth holding his kid by the foot at the beach, yeah that’s him. he’d play rough with her daughter and she’d have so much fun.
ᰔᩚ would dominate the world if she could. with her daddy, of course.
ᰔᩚ sukuna could throw his kid away just for her to come running back with a big-ass smile asking to do it again.
ᰔᩚ he’d often correct her when she doesn’t spell things right but would also call his daughter names like; little demon, brat, pain in my ass or fœtus.
ᰔᩚ she would never be disgusted by any of sukuna’s features. i just know that, as a baby, she was amazed at his four arms and two faces, gripping his cheeks and giggling when he evilly smirked at his daughter with all of his teeth.
ᰔᩚ i want to believe that she’s the only one allowed to mess with sukuna. she’d throw her food in his face and bite him out of nowhere.
ᰔᩚ by the way, nobody would ever dare to touch his precious little offspring. she’s showered with gifts and treats wherever she goes so that her smile never fades. cause let me tell you that, if it did, sukuna would make sure that nobody ever experiences an ounce of happiness again.
ᰔᩚ i’m telling you, this girl is getting pampered. it’s the king’s little princess and she deserves the whole world.
ᰔᩚ she’s getting spoiled 24/7.
ᰔᩚ i also have a feeling that his daughter would want to be strong like him. always asking sukuna when will it be her turn to inspire fear into the hearts of the people. she’s so impatient and annoys the shit out of her dad with the same question.
ᰔᩚ it would also be her type to gather a bunch of kids just to play pretend as a queen who executes them one by one. her evil laughter is already on point.
ᰔᩚ physically speaking, she’d have some of her daddy’s marks and eyes, but she’d look like such a sweetheart with her mommy’s overall traits.
ᰔᩚ sukuna is so big compared to her daughter so he’d walk around with her on his shoulders or just holding her like a bag of potatoes. she would love little rides like these and would always ask her daddy to pick her up.
ᰔᩚ he’d be annoyed but his daughter would be one of the most precious thing he has and will do everything in his power to make her exactly like him.

lavender haze | lee know. smut.
Your boyfriend is not prone to communicating his feelings through words, but luckily for him, you always know exactly what he needs. (1.9k words)

Contrary to popular belief, Minho sulks often. You do understand why people would believe that isn’t the case—your boyfriend’s dry jokes followed by a sarcastic smile being one of the reasons why you were drawn to him in the first place. When you first met him a couple years back, when he was still doing busking events with his dance crew alongside a common friend of yours, you’d watch in doe-eyed adoration as he’d flash his bunny teeth in a playful grin to his crewmates each time they got one move slightly wrong. What pissed them off the most is they could never get back at Minho—he never forgot any moves, never missed a beat. His justifiable confidence made him oh so irritating—you were attracted like moth to a flame to his character, his knife-sharp features matching his equally piercing sense of humour were fuel to the fire.
But the thing about your boyfriend's sulking is that it is often unjustifiable. Of course he doesn't need a reason to want to be pampered by you, but it'd be nice if Minho admitted he also likes to be taken care of at least once in a while.
“What did I do to deserve this torture?” The ever so intimidating choreographer mumbles from his spot on your bed, your pastel pink pillowcases being a little counterproductive to the assertive tone he's been trying to use on you.
Minho can’t suppress the smirk forming on his lips at your scoff, “Torture? I'm just asking you to wait! These bedsheets got here like, two weeks ago!” You're on your feet, struggling to fold one of the new huge linens to store in your closet. “If they stay in these bags any longer they're gonna start smelling weird.”
“You know that's not how it works, right?”
“I don't care. You know you should be helping me, right?” You look back, a smirk of your own automatically taking place when your eyes find his.
Despite the lopsided smile that seems to be permanently plastered on his face, Minho grunts as he drags his body out of the comforter and towards you, “You know you should wash these before putting them away, right?”
And as soon as your eyebrows raise and he sees the very familiar smile on your lips as you push the sheet into his arms, your boyfriend realizes he fell right into your trap, “Have it your way, then!”
The man watches as you jump in bed, getting comfortable on the spot he previously was—eyes filled with the similar overwhelming fondness they usually hold when Minho looks at you. “You’re annoying.” He takes off the rest of the sheeting from it’s flimsy plastic bags, making his way to the laundry room. “Don’t fall asleep!” He exclaims from the hallway.
“I’m not making any promises!”
“Don’t sleep! I wanna spend time with you!” Unfortunately, no amount of stubbornness can take away Minho's super power of having you giggling into your pillow. He wants to spend time with you. He's the love of your life and he wants to spend time with you.
Those are the feelings you can't quite understand. You’ve been with Minho for so long—at least long enough you've been through the “honeymoon stage” everyone seems to fear the ending of. For you, it feels like this stage never seems to be over. You pray it never ends.
So here you are, kicking your feet because your long term boyfriend said he wants to spend time with you. At least you know he's as obsessive as you are, if not slightly more.
Minho's way of showering you with love was overwhelming. He isn't the type to communicate his feelings through words, instead, he'd do things like casually tell you about getting into a rather serious argument with his manager, trying to get the day off so he’d spend your birthday with you. Of course he would be busy, cooking your favourite meal as he casually narrates the dramatics him and his group went through trying to get his needs respected. He doesn't look you in the eye when he says he got emotional, the only reason why his manager gave in being Minho “never behaved like this before”. This is his way of saying you're his utmost priority, can't you tell? The redness of his ears and fidgety eyes are a big hint of the nervousness Minho prayed you wouldn't pick up on. Unfortunately for him, you know him like the back of your hand.
You know that a quick glance your way means someone said something he found amusing in a way. If his hand fell to your lower back in social gatherings, it means Minho is a bit nervous and needs some grounding. If he's too silent, you know to sit beside him and wait until it all comes pouring out. With you, it always does. If he's vocalizing how tired he is, you know he'd enjoy talking for hours on end about anything that comes to his mind. Minho always needs you, he just has very specific patterns to show you exactly what he's currently craving from you. Fortunately for him, he's your favourite subject matter. He's the only thing you ever want to pay attention to—the sole owner of your entire focus.
That's why you know exactly what he needs when he flops back on the bed, and after a few moments of silence, blurts out “I miss you. I missed you a lot this week."
You crawl out of your nest and straddle your boyfriend's lap, dragging your comforter along and covering you both with it.
You're both silent as you hold his cheeks, taking your time as you kiss them, then his forehead, and the mole on his nose—at least a couple times each. Minho's hand slides down your lower back when your lips find his, tongue slowly tasting his as you feel his heart beating tranquilly against the palm of your hand sliding up and down his chest. You feel his right hand gently cupping the back of your neck, holding you close against him as the other sneaked under your shirt, slowly caressing your bare back.
Minho doesn't try to take control of the kiss like he usually does—neither do you. Your bodies seem to move in harmony, the glacial movements of his tongue making you sigh against his mouth every now and again, promptly resulting in a smirk of his. You loved kissing his smile.
“Missed you so much, baby.” He repeated softly against your lips. Minho now had both hands under your shirt, his touch leaving goosebumps as he caressed up and down your sides.
“Missed you too. Always miss you so much, Min.” Your breathing is a bit compromised now, hands moving on their own as you remove your own shirt.
Minho quickly follows, his palms back on your hips as soon as his shirt is tossed to the side. “I know you do, pretty. I know.”
His hands lay on your ass, groping as he whispers against your lips. “Spent the entire week thinking about fucking you. Gonna lay on your side for me, pretty? Hm? Gonna do it just how I like it?”
Too much, too much, too much. You don't think you're really moaning anymore, but you're sure your mouth's been hanging open for a while. Minho’s hips are slow as he hits the deepest parts of you, holding your squirming body for a few seconds each time he bottoms out. The sweet, lazy drag of his cock inside you make your lust disable all of your senses. He felt heavy, thick, so deep inside you. Full. You felt so, so full.
Somewhere in the haze you feel his palms making their way towards your chest, you process a bit of squirming as he squeezes them, massaging your breasts as he continued his torturously slow assault on your g-spot.
Minho can feel every cell fighting against his urge to mount and pump into you as fast as he pleases, but he'd endure anything if it means he gets to hear your drawn out whines as he rocks his hips back and forth, your entire body shivering every time he pauses deep inside of you for a few moments.
He runs his hand through the goosebumps of your arms and back to your chest again. After feeling you up a bit more, your boyfriend takes your hand and drags it south as he presses on your lower stomach, making you feel him moving inside you.
“You're feeling how good I fill you up, honey? Can you feel it?” His breathing is much more ragged now, Minho's body is visibly shuddering behind you as well. You squeeze around and him, bringing his hips to a stop.
You look back, staring at his open mouth as you inhale each other's heavy breaths. As if snapped out of a trance, Minho kisses you roughly. He swallows each of your moans when his hips start swaying back and forth again, still as slow and rough as he was.
His hand leaves yours as he reaches for your chin, spit dribbling down your lips.
“So fucked out you're drooling for me. God, you're so good, baby. You take it so good.”
“Holy shit, Minho! So close, so close, so close-” Your voice is no longer a whisper as it's pitch gets higher, your orgasm dangling in front of you in a fever dream. You feel him everywhere and it's almost too much, but certainly not enough. You're so overstimulated you don't know what to focus on to reach your high—both your senses and judgment so clouded you can't muster the brainpower to figure out what you need.
Luckily for you, Minho knows you like the back of his hand. “I love you. Love you so much.”
You can't tell how long it lasts, you're barely able to process Minho coming inside you. You feel the ghost of his hands holding your hips still as he whimpers in your ear—the sound alone making you shiver all over again. Your body shakes in his hold, limbs giving out after a prolonged orgasm you're not used to experiencing.
“Love you too… Love you so much…” The words mindlessly escape your lips as your head slowly sways, fingers twirling the ends of your splayed out hair.
Your eyes are closed as he lays you on your back, adjusting the pillow under your head as he chuckles. “Love you too, pretty. Hang in there just a second.”
You feel his hands caressing your body as he handles you, a sixth sense making you chuckle when you realize he spread your legs but didn't start cleaning you up.
His hands run down your thighs, you can hear the smirk on his voice. “What's up?”
“Stop staring.” You say, humming with your eyes still closed.
“Don't wanna.” You feel his fingers sliding through your core. “Mouth wide open for me, baby. Come on.”
You sigh when you get a taste of his coated fingers, lips wrapping around as your tongue licks in between them. You open your eyes to find him hovering above you, eyes fix in your mouth.
The look you give Minho makes him dizzy—the way you stare up at him with your big doe eyes in such adoration while sucking cum off his fingers almost made his heart burst. He can feel how each beat of it belongs to you, his heartbeat chained to a rhythm that followed your own.
Chest to chest, Minho watches as your eyes sparkle, your hand softly stroking the back of his head. A smile forms on your lips when you pop his fingers out of your mouth as you breathily mutter against them. “You know I'm gonna marry you someday, right?”

Heyyy
So I really liked the Damian Wayne x reader platonic friend thingy your wrote. I really feel like there should be more of those.
Anyways, k cam where to respect something similar. Can u maybe write hc on what it'd be like to be friends w him? Like bantering n stuff and maybe u can focus a bit on how Bruce feels abt it? Oh and bonus points if the reader is awkward.
Toodles!
Being friends with Damian isn’t easy in the slightest, mainly because he doesn’t make it easy for anyone to befriend him in the first place. So the fact that you managed to accomplish that was a major achievement already.
However that didn’t mean anything afterwards was made any easier for you just because you managed to make the impossible become possible. No. Why? Damian is one hell of a dry conversationalist if Titus or animals in general weren’t involved.
He’s basically an extroverts worst nightmare given a human form. For no matter how hard you tried to bait him into giving more then a one word answer out of him, it always ends with Damian not taking the bait and allowing a air of awkward silence to befall you both while everyone else was having a better time then you.
You: hey Damian.
Him: hello l/n.
You: how have you been?
Him: in peak condition, why?
You: it’s because I don’t see you that much outside of school, it’s almost as if your allergic to social interaction.
Him: Tt. why should I go out of my way to do such a thing? I have you as an acquaintance don’t I?
You: I mean yeah I guess-
Him: then I have no need to expand my friend group, for they’ll only disappoint me. Now is that all?
You: I mean there’s not much else to talk about at this point.
Him: good.
*cue to the pair of you sitting in utter, awkward silence*
When Damian says one friend is all he needs, he genuinely means it. One is enough for him. He doesn’t need anymore because he knows that he doesn’t have the time for them. Plus he might not say it out loud but he does appreciate your friendship, even if your both awkward individuals within most social situations, but he is happy that someone finally gave him a chance to be a friend.
So even if you were to ever ask why you were friends it’ll probably go something a bit like this;
You: why are you friends with me?
Him: you aren’t an idiot, plus you’re the only one who isn’t insufferable.
You: is that meant to be taken as a compliment or…
Him: take it as you see fit.
You: okay…
Damian as a friend would be protective i’d like to think? I mean you are literally the first friend he’s made so naturally he’s going to feel something when he sees you being friends with anyone else that wasn’t him.
Was it insecurity that you not day might not want to be his friend anymore? Possibly.
Will he ever admit to it though? No. This is Damian we’re talking about, of course he won’t.
Also being friends with Damian would best summed up as being two people who shouldn’t work but ultimately do either way, kind of like an ‘against all their differences they’re the best of friends’ type of duo because nobody and I mean nobody saw a friendship between you two ever happening. Ever.
Not even the great Bruce Wayne.
Speaking about him. If you ever got to visit the Wayne Manor and meet his father aka THE Bruce Wayne. Take it as a sign as you’ve made it as Damian’s best friend.
Would you shit yourself upon meeting quite possibly the most powerful man in Gotham? Yes and your sweating buckets on top of that, all the while Damian would be stood next to you completely unfazed as he introduced you to his father as his best mate.
Damian: father.
Bruce: Damian.
Damian: *points to you* this is my best friend and I expect that they get treated with respect during their visit here.
You: hi- hello it’s an honour to meet you M-Mr Wayne sir.
Bruce: tell me how you’ve come to befriend my son?
You: we were in the same art class and I noticed that he had no one to sit next to, and so I offered for him to sit with me, keep in mind I’m not that well liked and practically had a whole table to myself, and I’d like to think our friendship started with that small act of kindness Mr Wayne sir.
Bruce: and had Damian been kind to you?
You: in his own unique way sir but I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Bruce: *smiled* you’re a good kid l/n and you can go ahead and drop the formalities and call me Bruce instead. I shall go and tell Alfred to add another plate at the dinner table tonight.
Bruce, upon hearing that Damian had made a friend, wanted to meet you within immediate effect and see whether or not his son made for a good judge of character and he wasn’t disappointed.
Given the fact that you were awkward aside, you were defiantly what Damian needed for a friend, and Bruce was happy to see his son finally get to be normal for once as he watched from the window as Damian practically dragged you out to the spacious backyard with an excitable Titus on your heels as the Great Dane tried to get up and personal with you.
Alfred: they are certainly a pair, aren’t they master Bruce.
Bruce: an odd pair they may seem but they even out the other perfectly. Besides when was the last time Damian looked genuinely happy?
Alfred; can’t say that I recall sir.
Bruce: neither can I. At first I was sceptical but I’m glad being wrong. I can only hope that a friendship like theirs will stand the test of time because there will be times that will test their limits with one another. But if they’re as good a pair as I think they are then they’ll be perfectly fine.
Alfred: couldn’t have put it better myself sir *smiles alongside Bruce as they watched you and Damian act on your own within the others presence while in comfortable silence as Titus fell asleep at both of your feet.*
Yeah you’ll both be alright. You’ve got each other after all and that’s what matters at the end of the day.

Naoya nsfw and sfw relationship headcanons pleeeaasse . He's a terribly guilty pleasure and not many people write him (probably because he's a toxic sh*t)
omg anon you’re so right bc who would want an absolute toxic misogynistic fuck of a man (me, i do/j) i was supposed to post this yesterday but i forgor, sorry! btw i may or may not be working a second version of the atrocious fic i did a few days ago abt him… if its of anybody’s interest…
͏͏͏͏ ͏͏͏͏ ♡₊˚ Naoya is the type of man to…𓈒 ˚ ⟡
content: jjk headcanons; half sfw/half nsfw; afab!reader; glimpse of the horrors you’d be going through as his partner lol
n/a: i’m making more content for naoya than my glorious blue eyed king lmao ;-;
these are my hcs! feel free to agree or disagree :b any request/interaction supporting this post is very much appreciated <3
sfw ver! ୨ৎ
Naoya is the type of man to… spoil you rotten. Not because you deserve it—maybe you do—but because one of Naoya’s biggest weaknesses is his pride and reputation, and yours affects his. He can’t have his gf/fiancée/wife wearing low-quality or average clothing, you have to look worthy of him (at least on the outside). So he will gift you kimonos made with the finest fabric and the finest accessories to pair with. If you’re smart enough, you might be able to take advantage of that and manipulate him to buy you whatever you want, but you better be kissing the soil he walks on afterwards.
Naoya is the type of man to… be overprotective and ridiculously jealous. You won’t be able to go out by yourself. Not without him being there or at least one of his servants, what if another man tries to have a conversation with you? What if you flirt back? He doesn’t trust you or anyone but himself. He has to make sure you aren’t fooling around. Besides, you’re so weak—or at least that’s what he thinks—you need someone to protect you. What if someone disrespects you? He can’t let that slide, the only one allowed to treat you poorly is him.
Naoya is the type of man to… secretly like your praises. He won’t tell you, of course, but he does like having someone recognizing his strength—the main reason he’s so protective of you, trying to look like a knight in shining armour—and how great he is on his day-to-day basis. He will be pissed whenever you get mad at him and don’t praise him. He won’t say it directly nor apologize for whatever he did, but you might find an ‘apology’ gift on your side of the bed. If it’s a mistake you did—which to him is always going to be your fault—an easy way to get him to be in a better mood is stroking his ego with lots of praise.
Naoya is the type of man to… expect you to be the perfect wife. Naoya is a very demanding man, he expects nothing but perfection. He expects you to always look pretty, cook, and clean, like your typical traditional wife. Being a conservative man, he will expect you to not speak when gathering with the other clansmen—or outside in general—unless you’re allowed to. It’s for your good, he’d hate for you to embarrass yourself.
Naoya is the type of man to… only marry you for benefits. In matters of love, he is quite unfeeling, however, to maintain his position as the head of the Hei, he must get married and have offspring. This burden, as he would call it, is likely to be done through an arranged marriage. Just because you were chosen over the other bachelorettes doesn't necessarily mean you're at the same level as him—you will always be below him, and perhaps unworthy of him to his eyes—but you're definitely better than the rest, or at least you were the prettiest one. You might be of use to him.
nsfw ver! ୨ৎ
Naoya is the type of man to… degrade the hell out of you. Naoya’s degradation IS NOT for the weak. If he already treats you relatively poorly daily, it gets worse when he fucks you. He’s also going to fuck you rough, so don’t even try to ask him to go slower, he won’t comply. Don’t worry though, he might make sure that you cum (even to the point of overstimulating you) as it boosts up his ego, it makes him think he’s so good he can have his partner squirting for him and begging for more—this is only when he's in a good mood though, otherwise, he couldn't care less if you cum or not.
Naoya is the type of man to… head push you on purpose for you to gag on his dick. He likes the messy and filthy look on your tear streaked face and drool running down your chin, it makes him want to shoot his load on you (which he will).
Naoya is the type of man to… slap you, during or outside sex. Naoya is very ill-tempered, he’s prone to get physical and slap you (just look at how he used to bully maki and mai) or have angry sex with you. Whether it was your fault or someone else’s, he’ll blow off some steam fucking you stupid, and expect you to have bruises frequently.
Naoya is the type of man to… punish you while fucking. Like I said before, Naoya is very prone to angry sex and will punish you as he fucks you. Expect lots of choking, spitting, clit and face slapping and probably your ass bruised as well as your scalp, he wont take in consideration of his strength and yank it hard.
Naoya is the type of man to… use you as his cum dumpster. He doesn’t care if you’re in the mood or not, that’s what you’re there for, basically. He just got back from a meeting with the clansmen and he’s stressed? Get on your knees and suck him off. He's mad? Bend over or spread your legs. You better not object or make any sort of complaint, just take it like a good girl. Chances are that you end up pregnant (because he’s the type to forbid you from using birth control), he hopes it's a boy or he’s gonna blame it on you. (even if he’s the one responsible for the baby’s gender but ok)
Naoya is the type of man to… have a feet kink. I literally have no explanation for this one, just look at his face and tell me he does not have a thing for feet 😭

Pairing: Matt Sturniolo X Female Reader
Synopsis: Y/N is a virgin who so badly wants to have sex with Matt, but she’s scared. However when they’re alone in the triplets house things take a turn….this is for the two requests I got for a virgin reader having soft sex with Matt🥹
Warnings⚠️: This is soft cute sex. Virginity lose, and that’s about it 🫶🏽
Song for the imagine: J’s Lullaby(darlin I’d wait for you) Delaney Bailey
⚠️This is an 18+ story, so minors do not interact, or do??⚠️
Matt and I had been dating for roughly 7 months at this point. These past 7 months have been the best months of my life. I was surrounded by 3 people I loved, and making memories that would last forever
About five months into the relationship is when Matt and I finally decided to tell their fan base. Since I was always in their videos, some fans started to notice some vibes between the both of us.
Honestly I was petrified to tell them because a lot of their fans were super protective over them, and I’m a sensitive girl. I didn’t want to get any hate. Surprisingly we received way more love, and the occasional hate from some 14 year old, but nothing to make me feel any type of way.
Constantly Matt and I would watch shipping edits of us, some that even showed how we acted like a couple months before we even started dating. We loved it so much
Other times I would watch edits on my own of us, or just of Matt, and the comments had my jaw on the floor.
“I know he gives y/n the pounding of her life”
“He’s a skinny white boy. You know he be laying that pipeeeee”
“Poor y/n…..I know he be tearing her shit up”
Although these comments made me laugh, they also made me blush from embarrassment because they couldn’t have been further from the truth. I was a virgin, and Matt and I had only really made out and got handsy. Usually I’d break away and stop it, and he respected it and never said anything about it.
I knew he wanted to have sex because he’s a 20 year old man, and I for sure wanted to have sex because?? We’ll have you seen Matt??
But in the back of my mind I was so fucking nervous. I had never ever had sex. I’ve never given a handjob, a blow job, a hickey…..I’ve never even seen Matt’s dick.
Many times I would crave this intimacy, but I always allowed my fear to get to the best of me. However I was more than ready to have sex with the love of my life, Matt.
Matt and I were alone at their house since Chris and Nick had an event that Matt really could care less for. We spent the whole day together, and now we were currently in his room watching a movie
The whole time I kept thinking about having sex with Matt, and what it would be like. If I’d be bad, nervous or just out right not cut out for losing my virginity.
“Matt…” I said waiting for him to look over at me
“Yeah?” He said looking over and smiling at me
“Can I ask you something?” I said
“Of course baby” he responded back as he paused the movie
“Do you want to have sex with me?” I asked him, and to this his eyebrows raised
“In general or right now?” He asked laughing a little bit
“In general” I told him
“I mean it’s not something that’s necessarily crossed my mind. Of course I get urges, and want to have sex, but it’s not something my mind is always on.” He responded
“Well how come?” I asked him
“I mean I just care about you, and making you laugh and smile, and spending time with you. I just love to be in your company” he said back
“Oh….well have you ever thought of having sex with me…like at all??” I asked him
“I mean sure. Whenever we’ve had heated make out sessions it has crossed my mind. You know? It’s like I think to myself could this go further” he told me
“Oh…” I responded
“Have you thought of having sex with me?” He asked
“Mmm quite often actually” I said being completely honest
“Oh?” He said starting to blush
“But I know I always pull away before it goes any further” I told him
“Yeah, but I don’t mind at all” he said smiling at me for reassurance
“I guess I’m just scared” I said
“Scared of what?” He asked me with a head tilt
“Well I’m a virgin” I told him
“Oh” he said actually shocked
“Yeah, and I just never felt like I could move forward. Not because of you! I know I want to lose my virginity to you, but because I’m so afraid of being bad, or too nervous that it doesn’t work out” I said to him
“I get that. Losing your virginity is very intimate, and for sure scary. That’s valid” he said to me
“I was thinking maybe we could have sex” I told him
“Yeah of course” he said nodding his head and smiling
“Tonight” I then responded
“Tonight?” He said surprised
“Yes. I think I’m ready for tonight” I told him
“Okay. Then tonight it is” he said leaning over and kissing me
Matt and I had been making out for a good five minutes
“Are you doing okay?” He asked looking into my eyes
“Yes Matt I’m doing great” I said giving him a smile
Matt had kissed down to my neck. Leaving light kisses that were making me burn up inside. He had removed his shirt, and I removed mine as well
“Can I take your bra off?” He asked me leaning back a little bit
“Of course” I said shyly
Matt reaches behind as I lift up, so that he could unclip my bra. Slowly pulling it off of me, and allowing my breast to fall exposed
I started to blush. Never allowing a man to see me this way causing me to get a little shy
“Don’t get shy on me baby. You look perfect” he said giving me a sly smile
Matt had started to kiss my neck, and slowly went down to my breast. Massaging both breast before taking one into his mouth
“Oh Matt” I said in a whisper as my eyes fluttered shut
He then went down to the valley of my breast, and started to kiss down leaving sloppy kisses on my stomach. I was aching for his touch.
He kissed both hip bones before looking up at me
“Can I take your pants off?” He asked, and I nodded
He started to take my pants off as I lifted up a little for him to get them fully off. Matt in return removed his sweat pants as well
He went back to kissing above my underwear. This feeling alone left my hair rising and my thigh quivering
Matt laid next to me, and started to kiss me soon breaking away
“Okay baby. I have to stretch you out” he said. I turned my head towards him and agreed
Slowly he trailed his hand down to my underwear. Slightly dipping his hand in to massage my pelvic area before completely sticking his hand down my underwear
“Open wider baby” he told me, and I allowed my legs to open up more for him
“Perfect” he said, kissing me, and then he slid his hand all the way down coating his fingers in my arousal before bringing them back up to massage my clit
I just gasped and opened my mouth as Matt and I kept looking at each other
“Feeling okay?” He asked
“I feel so good Matt” I told him licking my now dry lips
Math started to rub my clit in circular motions. Allowing me to squirm and moan at this foreign feeling.
“Okay baby this may hurt” he said before sinking his middle finger to my entrance. He was looking into my eyes as he slowly started to insert his finger into me
This was a burning stretch I’ve never felt before, causing my eyes to shut and my brows to furrow
“Ow Matt” I said finally opening my eyes
“Too much? I can stop” he said reading my face
“No no keep going” I told him, and so he did. He slowly started to rock his fingers in and out curving them up to hit my G spot
“Oh fuck” I moaned out
“That feels so fucking good” I said as he started to rub my clit with his thumb
Slowly he inserted his ring finger. This burn was something that almost made me stop him, but I wanted this way too much for him to stop now.
Once he got the second finger in he started to pump in and out at a come here motion
“Oh Matt….ive never felt something like this” I told him as my mouth fell open
“Does it feel good?” He asked
“So so good” I said whispering the last part
He was slowly fingering me for 5 more minutes before he decided to stop
“Do you think you’re ready?” He asked me
“I think so” I told him, Matt removed his underwear and my mouth fell open
“Matt….I don’t know that that will fit in me” I said almost laughing
“Baby don’t boost my ego. It will fit” he said blushing and biting his lip
“This will hurt, so I’m going to go slow, and if it’s too much I’ll stop” he said
“Okay thank you” I whispered to him
Matt had both arms on either side of my head and was looking into my eyes
“Ready?” He asked one more time
“Yes Matt I’m very ready” I told him
Matt grabbed his dick with his right hand and slowly started to push the tip in. Looking up at you to read your face. He slowly started to push the tip in, and as he started to get in is when you winced
“Fuck Matt that hurts” I said gripping his left arm with my right hand
“Want me to stop?” He asked
“No no keep going” I told him
He slowly started to insert himself into me. Paying close attention to my face. Soon he was all the way in, and he let out a sigh
“So perfect,” he said, moving my hair out of my face. Matt was allowing my vaginal walls to relax around him before moving
“You can move” I told him, and so he did. Slowly sliding back and then in. My pussy was still stretching and burning around his dick
He was letting out little moans that were making me so wet.
Slowly Matt started to pick up his pace. Sliding in and out of me in such a delicious way
“Fuck Matt you can go a little faster” I told him
Matt started to thrust into me a little faster and I was completely losing my mind. If sex felt this good, why was I waiting this long?
“Matt this feels so good” I said moaning
“You feel so fucking good around me” he said moaning the last part
Matt had gotten a little more on his knees, and allowed his arms to bend. Coming down closer to me our chests were touching, and his head was right next to my ear
I could hear his pants into my ear as he was thrusting into me
“Fuck Matt you sound hot” I told him pulling his hair at the back of his head
“Yeah?” He said in a breathy tone
“Yes…so so hot” I said as I continued to pull at his hair
Matt continued to thrust into me becoming a sweaty and groaning mess above me
“I’m going to start rubbing your clit, and you’ll be able to cum in no time” he told me before snaking his right hand down to my clit starting to rub
“OH MY GOD” I screamed out at the intense sensation I was feeling
“Too much?” He asked looking at me
“No no just right keep going. Fuck Matt I think I’m going to cum” I told him as I started to clench on his cock causing him to moan
Matt was fucking into me at a good pace and rubbing my clit, going in between slow and fast circular motions
“Matt Matt Matt” I said scratching his back and clenching down on him harder
“Come on baby! You can do it for me” he said rubbing his fingers faster
“I’m going to cum. Fuck fuck fuck” I said shutting my eyes and throwing my head back even more
“Come on. Come on give it to me” he said into my ear
“FUCKKKKK MATTT” I screamed out as I started to convulse and tremble. My orgasm completely washing over me. I was seeing white and my legs were shaking as I was cumming so hard. Slowly I started to come down my from my high with heavy breathing and dry lips
Matt pulled out of me when I stopped twitching around him. I felt weird without his dick in me. He started to pump his cock
“Fuck I’m gonna cum” he said kissing my lips
He pulled away and his lower abdomen started to contract as his mouth fell and his brows furrowed. He looked into my eyes as he came all over his hand and my lower stomach. Slowly coming down from his high and rolling onto his back next to me
“Matt that was amazing” I said looking over at him
“Was it? You don’t have to lie” he said catching his breath
“No matt. It was amazing, and you were so careful with me I appreciate it” I said rolling over to my side and kissing him on the cheek
“Anything for my pretty lady. I love you” he said looking over at me
“I love you too Matt” I said smiling at him
“Let’s get you cleaned up. Follow me let’s shower” he said and grabbed my hands
When I got off the bed my legs completely gave out on me and I almost fell to the ground
“Oh my god Matt…my legs are fucking jello” I said laughing as he grabbed me and helped me walk to his bathroom
“I’m sorry baby” he said also laughing
“I can now say Matt Sturniolo has made me weak in the knees physically” I responded laughing
“Shut up” he said all shyly as he turned on the hot water and let me step in first
We had showered together, and then spent the night watching movies until we eventually fell asleep in each other's arms.
The End
I hope you guys enjoyed this one! And for the two people that requested this I hope I didn’t disappoint, and I’m so sorry it took forever for me to get this out 🥹❤️❤️

Home Part 1 (Alexia Putellas x reader)
A/N: This is part 1 of chapter 7 of The Legacy Series.
Looking out over the clouds Alexia couldn’t help but wonder what you had planned. Last night she was crying on your doorstep and now she was on a plane to Amsterdam. You were typing rapidly on your phone and sighing every 30 seconds, she knew there was something you weren’t telling her.
“Y/N” Alexia says but her words fall on deaf ears.
She takes in your features. The way your eyes squint ever so slightly as you concentrate of the words you are typing out. You shake your head whilst reading the reply or at least that is what Alexia assumes you are doing.
“Y/N” Alexia squeezes your thigh “Earth to Y/N”
Now she has your attention but instead of facing her, you eyes are locked onto her hand which even after getting your attention still rests comfortably on your thigh. It causes a panic within you but a good one.
“Yes Alexia” instead of removing the hand you place yours over it.
“Should we be doing this. Going to Amsterdam I mean”
“Of course. It was my idea”
“It’s just that you’ve been on your phone for the past 45 minutes and whatever you are doing is frustrating you, I can tell”
She could tell. You had allowed Alexia close enough to know what you are feeling and when your feeling it without having to talk.
It takes a few seconds for you to respond. How do you tell the woman who hates doing public appearances that you are taking her to one of the most popular charity events in football.
“So I may not be telling you the whole truth as to why we are going to Amsterdam. You see there’s this thing. A thing which I didn’t plan on going to but then I saw you and thought it would be a good distraction only now I’m realising that this thing isn’t something that you like to do. This thing is something that I shouldn’t have signed you up for before talking to about it”
“I’m sure everything will be ok. I like to think you know me well and I know you wouldn’t make me do anything that would make me uncomfortable”
“Technically I’m not making you do anything”
“Y/N tell me whatever it is you’re not telling me”
“I told my mother that we are coming to Amsterdam and she assumed meant I was going to the annual foundation dinner and that you would be accompanying me”
You wait for the reaction. Instead of responding in any way, Alexia diverts her attention to the view out the window. It makes you very nervous. Is whatever she is feeling so bad that she cannot even look at you?
“I thought you were taking me home”
Her voice is quiet and you can just about hear the hurt in her tone.
“I am. Alexia I have planned on taking you to Amsterdam for a while I promise. It’s just my mother, she, well she—“
Alexia’s tries and fails to cover her laughter.
“You’re not mad?” You didn’t know what was happening.
When the Catalonian turns around you see a huge grin on her face.
“Alexia!” You slap her playfully “I thought I hurt your feelings. Don’t do that to me again”
“I’m sorry. You get tense very easily you know”
“It’s the event. It’s — you’ll find out soon”
“Is this the only public appearance you have signed me up for or should I call my manager?”
“It’s just this one. I promise after the event we have two days in Amsterdam to do whatever you want. There will be no appearances”
“Just me and you?” Alexia asks.
“Yes Alexia. It will be me and you”
It was a small omission of truth. No way would your mother allow you to stay in hotel when you went home and given the importance of the dinner, the whole Cruyff family will also be staying at the house. Not only were you taking Alexia home, you were introducing her to the people that mean the most to you.
You landed a hour later and as you drove down the streets of Amsterdam Alexia looked out the window and took in the sights of the city as if she was seeing it for the first time. She already looked more at peace and even though you knew the pain was still there, in this moment you knew that she wasn’t letting the pain consume her.
Just like in Barcelona, the house in Amsterdam had gates and as they open you knew now would be the perfect time to tell Alexia what she was about to walk into but part of you wanted to get her back for the prank she pulled on the plane. It’s why you wait until you’re standing outside the front door to tell her.
“Just a heads up, my entire family is behind this door. All the children come home for this event” You tell her casually.
Alexia grabs your hand as it reaches for the handle.
“Wait! Your family. I thought it was just your mother” Alexia was fine with it being just you mother as she has already met her and had got along very well with her. Your brothers she only knew by the stories you had told her.
“Surprise. Are you ready?”
“Do I have a choice?” She asks nervously.
“Not really”
You wait for alexia to give you some sign that she is ready to go into the house. You know that once she is introduced everything will be fine. Her being here at this time of year is a big deal but it will be you who gets the interrogation for inviting her.
Alexia nods your head and you open the door.
“kijk wie het is. jij bent de laatste persoon van wie ik verwachtte dat hij door die deuren zou lopen en je hebt je vriendin meegenomen.” Jordi, your older brother, is the first to greet you.
“vriendin?” Your oldest brother Luuk is right behind him.
“ze is mijn vriendin niet.” You are quick to correct them “spaans of engels om haar heen alstublieft”
You look back at Alexia who had a lost look on her face. You didn’t really speak Dutch in Barcelona unless it was with Lieke and even then you encouraged your friend to speak Spanish.
“Alexia this is Jordi and Luuk” you point of who is who.
“It’s a pleasure to finally meet you. Y/N here talks about you all the time” Luuk shakes hands with Alexia.
The action is much too formal for your liking. It seems that you and you other brother share the same thought because he pulls Alexia in for a hug.
“She really does. She has told me all about your dates”
“They’re friend dates. Tell him Alexia” your need for back up is amusing to your team mate who does nothing to help you.
Jordi walks with Alexia whilst you walk with Luuk.
“Are they?”
“Not for long I hope” you tell him knowing that he won’t use your words against you unlike your younger older brother would.
You knew that there was a reason you brought Alexia home and why you wanted her to go with you to the dinner. There was no hesitation and you knew it meant something, something that you had known for a while now but you hadn’t had the guts to admit to yourself and to her.
Alexia looked back as if to check if you were coming with her. You smile and nod telling her to go ahead. The rest of the family was in the garden and these introductions would be much easier and you knew they would help Alexia be more at ease.
“Alexia, you have already met my mother”
“Alexia, it’s nice to see you again”
“It’s nice to see you too Mrs Cruyff”
Much like Jordi, your mother pulls Alexia in for a hug.
“I told you before, call me Danny”
Alexia nods and makes a mental note to do so going forward.
“And these two are women, who for some reason have chosen to be with my brothers, are Olivia, Luuk’s wife and Mia, Jordi’s girlfriend”
Only one of them officially held the title but you saw both of them as your sisters.
“Alexia, it’s a pleasure to meet you. Y/N won’t stop talking about”
You sink into the outdoor sofa hoping it will swallow you whole. You had been home less than 10 minutes and already your family had outed you for the amount you talked about Alexia.
“Is that right?” Alexia looks towards you for confirmation of if it’s true.
“Of course I do Alexia. I spend almost all of my spare time with you. It’s impossible not to talk about my day and not talk about you too”
Now it is Alexia’s turn to feel embarrassed but it doesn’t last very long because the topic of the night’s festivities get brought up. Your mother tells the family, which now included alexia, what the night will be like. It seems a lot and to Alexia it is overwhelming but you reassure her that she won’t be left alone.
“I don’t have anything to wear” from her seat beside you Alexia leans to you and whispers.
“Neither do I. Do you think we can use that as an excuse not to go?” You reply playfully although you are deadly serious. The closer the event gets the more nervous you become.
“I heard that” you mother says “your dresses are in your bedroom. I assumed you would be ok sharing. If not I can make up the spare room”
You didn’t think of this and you don’t know what to say but Alexia doesn’t share the same hesitation.
“We are ok to share Danny” She is confident, so much so that she doesn’t even look to you for confirmation of whether this is in fact ok.
“You said you picked out dresses” You ask your mother.
“I picked out the dresses” Mia says confidently “I know Y/N’s measurements and I guesses Alexia’s won’t be too different”
Alexia didn’t know how to respond. How could a stranger know what her measurements were and for a dress of all things.
“Mia is a designer and she has incredible taste so you have nothing to worry about. I have so much faith in her that even I don’t know what I’m wearing”
This did put Alexia at ease. She learned very quickly that you were somewhat of a control freak so the fact that you let someone else have complete control over what you wore let her know that Mia would have chosen something perfect for her too.
“We are going to freshen up. What time do we need to be ready for?” You stand up and Alexia does too.
“Your car leaves at 7”
You thank your mother as you pass her. She knew that you attending the dinner tonight was a big deal and you wouldn’t want your arrival to be made a spectacle out of. It’s why she organised for you and Alexia to arrive an hour after everyone else.
Once in your room, your childhood room or more so the room you’ve had since you were 12 years old, Alexia collapses on the bed truly making herself at home.
“By all means Alexia get comfy”
“I will” she sits up with her legs dangling off the edge of the bed “Are those the dresses?”
She walks over to the two dress bags; one with your name on and the other with hers. She unzips hers slowly as if nervous to find out what she is going to reveal. You take her place on the bed and wait with just as much anticipation.
Alexia pulls the cover off the dress and it is beautiful. It’s a black sleeveless dress with a sheer cut out front and an extra piece of fabric on the shoulder to give it the extra wow factor. In this moment you knew you owed your sister-in-law a huge thank you for picking out this dress because Alexia would look beautiful in it.
After looking at her own dress she looks at you, mentally asking for permission to open your dress, you nod and Alexia proceeds to reveal what you will be wearing for the night. Mia had chosen a red floor length dress with a cut out similar to Alexia’s but instead of a normal top, the material on yours is crossed over.
“What is tonight going to be like?” She asks you.
Before answering her question you tap the space beside you on the bed and only when she is sat next to you do you start to explain the history of the Johan Cruyff Foundation dinner. You explain that the aim of the night is to raise money for the foundation but since your father’s passing it is also a night that he is remembered. She asks if there is anything she needs to do and you answer no. You tell her that you will try to be by her side as much as possible but you also have foundation duties to attend to and in your absence she will get along very well with Mia and Olivia.
“You’re going to leave me alone with your family who I have only just met?” Alexia asks with mixture of tease and disappointment in her tone.
“I won’t have much of a choice. You are more likely to have a good time with my family than you are with me tonight. Trust me on this Alexia” you gently pat her thigh but when you’re done your hand remains there. Alexia places her hand over yours and intertwines your fingers.
“I would rather be with you”
There was something in the way she spoke that led you to believe her words didn’t only have one meaning. With you, did Alexia want to be with you for longer than just tonight?
The room grows silent but in a comfortable way. With your eyes locked firmly on one another, plenty is being said and when Alexia leans towards you, you don’t pull away. Instead you close the remaining distance. Your are lips are centimetres away, close enough to smell the mint of the chewing gum she had recently thrown away. With your eyes closed you are committed to kissing Alexia in our childhood bedroom.
Suddenly a knock on the door makes Alexia pull away but you tell her to ignore whoever it was and she does so but only until a second round of knocking comes.
“Ignore it. We’ve waiting long enough to do this” again, your lips were practically touching when the person on the other side of the door barged in. This causes Alexia to pull away in embarrassment.
Jordi stands at the threshold with an annoying smirk on his face.
“I’m going to shower” Alexia says and you find little comfort hearing the sadness in her voice because it meant she wanted this just about much as you did.
You turn your attention to your brother and if it looks could kill Jordi would be dead on your bedroom floor.
“I interrupted something, didn’t I?” He asks almost as if he is remorseful but the older brother in him finds it hilarious that he had to enter in that exact moment, the one where you were finally about to make a move on the girl you liked.
“vreselijke timing. Nu eruit!”
Just over an hour later and you are ready to go. Alexia was in the en-suite bathroom putting the finishing touches to her make up. You wait anxiously. Since seeing the dress in the bag you had been picturing what she would look lie in it. You have numerous version conjured but none of them compared to seeing her the moment she returned.
You were at a lost for words. Beautiful didn’t seem enough for how she looked and whilst you tried to come up with a word that be enough for Alexia’s beauty she seemed to take your silence at a bad thing.
“Is something wrong with it? Is it too much? Is it not enough?” Her voice waivers as she panics.
It fit her perfectly. The material hugged her toned figure and when she did a turn it took everything in your power not to stare at her bum.
“Alexia Putellas you look absolutely breathtaking. They’re not going to be able to take their eyes off you. I know I won’t”
Her cheeks flush red at the compliment. It wasn’t the first time that you reminded her of her beauty but in this very moment you had never sounded more honest and the look in your eyes conveyed something different than the other times. Lust flooded your eyes and you knew it was because whilst alexia looked stunning you could only think about what she would look like in your bed, in you room with the dress tossed in the far corner.
“Thank you Y/N. I must admit I’m looking forward to tonight” Alexia tells you.
“It will be a night to remember”
You couldn’t ignore the anxiety that was brewing inside of you. Alexia had been a welcome distraction since arriving in Amsterdam but once you arrived at the event you would no longer be able to seek solace in her company, at least not as much as you would like.
The drive to the venue was silent but a comfortable silence. Much like in the car after leaving the airport, Alexia is taking in the sights from the window. It is only when she turns to point out a building does she see your hand shaking in your lap and she notices you biting down on your gum.
As a way to ground you and bring you back to the present, she grabs your hand and intertwines her fingers with yours. She squeezes it three times which earns a smile from you albeit a small one which doesn’t last long.
“Miss Cruyff, we have arrived”
It was time to face the music and the crowd that you had worked so hard to avoid over the past couple of years.
Your driver, ever the gentleman, opens Alexia’s door for her. Within seconds she has walked around to your side expecting you to already be out but the door is still shut. When she opens it she finds you staring into the back of the head rest.
“Are you ready?” Alexia asks only to get a shake of the head in response from you “There’s something you’re not telling me, what is it?”
“I don’t want you to start seeing me differently. Everybody in there wants Y/N Cruyff but you—“
You don’t have the chance to finish your sentence because Alexia pulls you out of the car as if taking control over the situation.
“I want you. I want the Y/N that has the same reaction to a cup of coffee that a child does to a cone of ice cream. None of this matters to me. I’m here to spend the night with you, nobody else matters”
“You’re going to have to share me tonight or least for the majority of tonight”
Never has someone made you feel like you matter. Alexia really did have no care for your last name and this moment was evidence of that.
“Ok” Alexia gives you some space to ready yourself “but after tonight you’re mine”
The last part of her sentence was a whisper one which she thought was quieter than it actually was because the look you give her lets her know you heard exactly what she said. In the past Alexia would dip head in embarrassment or lie and say she said something else but that didn’t happen. She owned what she said not by using her words but by her actions. Her hand rested on the small of your back as the two of you walked towards to the entrance doors. It dropped as you walked in but you both knew it was their even if only for a minute.
It was rare sighting for the people in attendance as you have been a missing part of these events so when you enter all eyes are on you and the beautiful brunette that you had brought with you.
“Everybody is looking at you” Alexia whispers in your ear as a nervous laugh escapes her lips.
“Oh please, everybody is looking at you in that dress. It’s a real head turner”
Alexia playfully shoves you.
You exchange a couple of hellos as you guide Alexia to the family table. Unlike outside the venue, your hand is on her waist and she can feel your grip tighten with every person that gets closer to the two of you. It was a reflex, an action of protection.
Similar to how they were at the house, your family welcomes Alexia and she is given a glass of champagne before she has the chance to sit down. It amazes you how easy Alexia joins in the conversation your sister in laws are having, it helps that they are making the extra effort to discuss things your team mate knows about. Alexia sensing you disconnecting from the moment so she makes sure to bring you into the conversation even if it only for you to say yes or no.
“Junior. Are you ready?” Jordi asks.
You see Alexia looking at your with an eyebrow quirked. This nickname was new and she knew there was a story behind in but it was a story that would have to be told another time.
Jordi stands to the side of you with a tray of shots which held what you could only assume was Oranjebitter given the colour. When you nod your head he hands out of the shots to the remaining family members at the table which included everyone but your mother and Luuk as they were off mingling.
“Let’s get this over with”
As you bring the glass to you lips you make sure to keep eye contact with Alexia who does the same. Whilst your face remains stoic given your experience with the Dutch liqueur, hers does not and you find it adorable.
“I’ll be back soon”
“It’s time to share you?”
“It is but I’ll come back to you as soon as I can. Girls, make sure she has a good time”
With that you leave Alexia i the capable hands of your brother’s partners. She watches you walk away with Jordi. Your brother whispers something in your ear which makes you tip you head back in laughter. In all the months in Barcelona she had never heard this laugh and she knew it was because you were home and with your family.
“It’s nice to see her so happy” Alexia says to no one in particular.
“We have you to thank for that Alexia” Olivia says “We were all worried when she signed for Barcelona but within days she was saying how easier you have made it for her”
“I can’t believe it took her this long admit her feelings. Y/N doesn’t wast time, when she likes someone she tells them but with you she hesitated and it was then that we knew this was serious” Mia adds.
Alexia was at a loss for words, how couldn’t she be. It felt wrong been told this by anyone that wasn’t you but on the other hand this is what she has been waiting for. The connection between the two of you had been there from the beginning but for weeks, no months, she truly believed it has been one sided. Yet her she sits in front of two people that know you very well and she is being told that you share the same feelings she has. She had a inkling of this after you almost kissed but now she knew it to be true.
“We’re not together” it was the only thing Alexia could say because whilst so much was unclear this was something she knew was true.
“Call it what you want. Together, not together. In a relationship or not. She is here tonight and she brought you with her”
“She brought me to Amsterdam because I was going through a tough time in Barcelona”
The two older woman share a look and it makes Alexia feel like she is being left out of something.
“Alexia” Mia says softly “Y/N hasn’t been to this event since Johan passed away”
“What?”
“She has declined the invite every year. It hurts her too much to come because in the past she would stay by his side the entire night, they were inseparable. We didn’t think she would come this year because all anyone would want to talk about is how she is following is his footsteps” Liv tries to explain the enormity of what you bringing her here means.
“But she invited me anyways” It begins to sink in.
Alexia absentmindedly searches for you in the crowed room. She finds you speaking with Pep Guardiola and it’s as if you know you are being talked about because you look right back at her. Worrying that something is wrong you put your thumb up as a way of checking in on Alexia, she nods her head. After giving her a small smile you go back to your conversation happily knowing Alexia is ok. Only you had no idea just how ok she was.

To say this is the first time in his life that Joe has felt lonely would be a lie. He felt it a bit the first time he left home for school, but it was greatly eased by the fact that he had BJ, his best friend. They were both in the same boat, so it wasn’t as bad.
He felt it again on and off over the years as he fought to make an NFL career that was never going to work, well, work. And once that brutal realization finally hit, after taking way too much time feeling sorry for himself, he experienced t it again as he started the hustle and grind to make a wrestling career work instead.
And he’s especially felt it over the past two years as his marriage with Ri has deteriorated to a level he thought unreachable.
But this….this is different.
It’s different because he’s not going home to an empty house. He’s on the road, back to work, surrounded by his cousins, a fantastic team, and a plethora of fans. It’s truly the opposite of loneliness.
But that’s exactly what Joe feels.
Because he doesn’t have her. Doesn’t have Ri.
Even if he hasn’t had her for at least two years. Not really, anyway. Not in any meaningful way that actually matters to him.
A knock on the door pulls him from his depressing inner dialogue.
Sitting up, Joe calls out, “come in.”
In walk Jon and Josh, and right away, Joe knows what’s up. He can tell by their facial expressions.
“I’m fine.” Maybe if he jumps ahead of whatever semi intervention they have planned, he can avoid a conversation he really doesn’t feel like having. Physically or mentally.
“Bullshit,” Josh scoffs, closing the door behind them. The twins sit down on different seats opposite the sofa Joe’s big body is sprawled on. “You ain’t been fine for a minute, Uce.”
It’s not entirely wrong, but that doesn’t mean Joe has to necessarily agree. “A lot of shit has happened.”
“Yeah, and I’m not quite sure you fully allowing yourself to feel that shit.”
“Kind of hard not to.”
“You know what we mean, Joe.” Jon cuts in, asking over a sigh. “Why you here right now? You should be with Ella. Helping her heal and remember shit.”
Joe feels the exact same way, but that’s not what her family wanted. Not what she wanted to some extent, because Joe was present when her parents brought up the idea of her returning home to Florida with them. She didn’t seem opposed. Didn’t express any desire to instead stay and go back to her real home with him.
Not that he can blame her. He’s a complete stranger to her. Granted, technically, so is her family. So that not being chosen thing has definitely left a sting.
So, Joe settles on a simple answer, “it’s not what she wanted.”
Josh is quick with the rebuttal. “Man, she don’t even know who she is, let alone what she wants.” Again, not wrong. But also, again, no need to verbalize as such. “Look, Uce, I know….I know things been rocky with you and her the past couple years—”
“Don’t.” This time, Joe doesn’t hesitate to dead the conversation before it can truly transpire. “I’m not doing this shit right now.”
“That’s the problem though, Joe.” Jon jumps back in, pointing out, “I feel like you, and her too, been avoiding talking about whatever it is that happened. And that avoidance has damn near cost you your marriage.”
“I said I’m not doing this, Jon. Drop it.” Joe can think of a million other things that he’d prefer to talk about than that. All kinds of cruel, mideval types of torture would be preferred over venturing down that path. The only person he should be discussing that with is his wife. But, that’s hard to do when she doesn’t even remember it.
Doesn’t remember the thing he’ll never truly be able to process.
He doesn’t even know someone can process and make peace with that.
The twins share a look. They must know they’re defeated. In this round, at least. Cause if it’s one thing he knows about the cousins he considers more as brothers, they can be resilient and tenacious. Especially when it comes to heavy shit like this.
“Alright, man.” Josh shakes his head and slaps his thighs. “We’ll leave you alone.” It’s appreciated and both unwanted. Joe doesn’t want to be alone, per se. But, he doesn’t want his cousins, either.
He wants his wife.
And when they walk out, the door closing behind them figuratively and literally, Joe is back to ruminating thoughts about his wife.
His wife who he’s seen mostly online in the two weeks that have passed since she was discharged from the hospital and left to be with her family.
Joe isn’t ashamed or embarrassed to admit he’s found himself looking at footage of her via her music videos, interviews, performances and home videos. He’s reviewed old news articles that came out about them back in the day, got a good chuckle at a situation a few years back where some irrelevant rapper called himself trying to start shit with Mari that Joe and BJ handled and deaded right away.
He laughed over old text exchanges with his wife who will always be the smartest yet dumbest person he’s ever met when it comes to common sense sometimes.
But, he’s especially enjoyed the home videos. Joe had almost forgotten just how much footage he has of her. Personal videos taken when it was just the two of them.
Some taken by her. Some taken by him.
Memories, they’d always call them.
And they still are.
Just haunted ones.
Joe grabs his phone and navigates to his videos folder. There’s hundreds of them, because every time he upgrades to a new phone, he always makes sure to back up and transfer his texts, photos, and videos. For no reason other than not wanting to lose anything. Not miss out on any of the many hilarious, heartwarming moments with Ri.
Joe picks a random video, a smile easily falling on his face as he immediately remembers and recalls what this one is.
She’s wearing one of his Bloodline shirts, a random ball cap and a pair of his sunglasses over her eyes. There’s also a spatula in her hand as she sits on the floor in their living room in front of their flat screen TV while one of his more popular promos with Brock Lesnar plays in the background.
“You must be confused, farm boy. That title? That’s my title, and you don’t even realize cause I’m gon smash you at WrestleMania. And it’s not even your fault, Brock. You ain’t got a chance.” She’s mouthing along perfectly, facial expressions and body language in almost perfect sync with her makeshift microphone. Joe can hear his laughter in the background as she stands up, getting more into character. “This is my show! This is my ring!” She gestures off to the side. “This cameraman right here? This is my cameraman!” She gestures around the room. “These people, these are all my people, because they acknowledge me!” She then points to him. “These two right here? They work for me! This commentary team is mine because they brag and talk about me the whole time.” She then lifts her arm, pointing to the ceiling. “That sign right there? Is mine! Because I am WrestleMania! I am this show, I run this show, and everybody works for me!” She smirks, head titled. “Including the security in the ring with me.” Joe’s laughter increases as she drops the spatula and throws the hat off along with the sunglasses, also falling out laughing with him.
Ri walks over and climbs onto his lap, asking, “That was good, wasn’t it?” Joe doesn’t hear a response on his end, but he’s certain it was nonverbal acknowledgement.
As the video ends, he finds himself back frowning again.
Close….
They were so close.
Joe switches to a different album, photos this time, his smile returning as he opens a photo she snapped of them laying in bed. He’s clearly asleep, his arm over her body as she smiles happily.
His finger traces over the outline of her smile, a memory popping into his head.
“It’s just so beautiful.”
Joe sighs. Loud.
It’s not often he gets time off, so these next couple days are precious and cherished. And he’d love to kick it off the right way: by getting some much needed sleep.
If only his lovely wife understood this.
Because even though it’s almost 2am, she sits beside him in their bed, emotional for no damn reason at her chosen movie: The Brave Little Toaster.
He blows out a breath. “It’s literally about kitchen supplies.” Joe then asks, confused as hell. “Why the hell you watching this anyway?”
Her answer is rushed and nervous. “Because I watched that creepy ass movie earlier today, and now I need to ease my anxiety.”
Joe closes his eyes, turning on his back, looking at her with all the judgment. “Didn't I tell you not to watch that shit? You know your ass is scary as hell.” As soon as she started giving him a description of the movie, a psychological thriller, he knew she needed to stay far away. Ri has a tendency to overthink films like that, somehow convincing herself that whatever happened in the movie could happen to her.
And that’s exactly what’s happened.
“Well, I didn’t listen to you, okay!” Joe rolls his eyes. Obviously. “So, now I need to watch this soft, cute movie about these brave little utensils.” She starts sniffling. “And it’s just so sad.”
“What they do? Rust?”
“Joe!” She slaps his arm, huffing, “oh my gosh, you have no creative bone in your body.”
“Not at no damn 2 o'clock in the morning, you’re right, I don’t.” He turns back on his side, bringing the blankets up to his neck, snatching back more of the covers from his hogging ass wife. “Now I’m going back to sleep. You enjoy your KitchenAid movie.”
But that’s damn near impossible when she starts crying again minutes later, somehow louder than before.
“He’s just so brave.”
“Oh my god.” Joe closes his eyes, rolling once again onto his back. He pinches the bridge of his nose and reminds himself that this is his best friend and his wife. He can’t grenade this. Can’t and won’t hurt her feelings by telling her to shut the fuck up, even though that’s what he would say if it was literally anyone else. “Your period must be coming because you done gone through all six stages of grief watching this damn kids movie about a fucking toaster.”
Ri gasps beside him, and he can almost feel her dramatic ass, judgmental glare. “I resent you saying that! Just because I’m a woman with feelings does not mean—“ She pauses. “What day is it?”
And before he can answer, she’s kicking the blankets off, climbing over him, and scampering to the bathroom, closing the door behind her.
Joe is barely even able to turn back on his side when she calls out from the bathroom. “Goddamnit , you man, you! You spoke it over me!”
He sighs. It all makes sense now.
Ri is just an overall emotional, theatrical ass person, but it’s always exacerbated whenever she’s on her cycle. She becomes….difficult.
Super sensitive.
“Shit.”
He hears her curse from the bathroom, but it’s not as loud, not as dramatic. And that’s what catches his attention.
“What?” Nothing. Nothing but the sound of the drawers being opened and almost slammed shut, like she’s in a rush of some sort. Joe kicks the blankets off and walks over to the bathroom. He knocks once, asking, “can I come in?”
She answers by opening up the door only to turn back around, clearly looking for something. “What’s wrong?”
“Damnit!” She snaps, slamming the cabinet shut. “I’m out of tampons.” Ri walks over and gestures to the few she has on the counter. “These are all light.”
Shit.
Right away, he sees her dilemma. There’s no way she can use light tampons for the first night of her period. And the reason he knows this and isn’t weirded out like how some men would be is simple. He grew up the only boy among four sisters, the baby of them all. He’s heard and learned a lot over the years. Some, or maybe a lot of which, he could have gone the rest of his life without knowing. But, some information, like in cases like this, have proved to be a bit helpful.
So, it’s only natural, he offers, “I’ll run to the drugstore right quick.”
Ri turns to him, instantly protesting, “no. It’s late, Joe.” She crosses her arms and shrugs. “I can just, like, stuff a bunch of toilet paper up my vagina for tonight and pray nothing gets stuck.”
He leans against the doorway, easily shooting that down. “Yeah, with your luck, that’s exactly what’ll happen too.” He loves his Ri more than what’s probably healthy, but the girl is accident prone and the queen of freak accidents. “I’d rather get you the damn tampons than spend all night in the ER with you.”
Her not disagreeing with his prediction is telling. She knows he’s right. “Let me at least go with you. I don’t want you out by yourself this late.”
Joe would also not like to be out on the road, hitting up Walgreens for a random ass tampon run, but this is also Ri. And there’s very little he wouldn’t do for her.
If anything.
“I think I’ll be fine, Ri.” He chuckles, walking over to her. She pouts as he kisses her temple. “You’re the one who would get kidnapped or some shit.” He laughs at his comment, a reference to the movie she watched earlier that’s got her up so wide and awake.
She gasps, mouth dropped as she looks up with wide eyes. “See! I told you it could happen!”
Joe walks into their bedroom and throws on some sweats, a hoodie, and slides on some sneakers. He grabs his wallet, keys, and phone as Ri walks out, shuffling over to him and moving up against his chest, hugging him. “You want the chocolate?” She nods. “Milky Ways?”
Again, another nod as she looks up. “And the—”
“Hot fries and Arizona tea. The one mixed with lemonade. I know.”
She pouts. “Thank you.”
He kisses her forehead, murmuring, “I’ll be back.”
He walks toward the door, as she calls out, “I love you.”
Joe chuckles. “I love you too, baby.” He’s halfway down the steps when she screams out from the bedroom.
“Damnit! Now we can’t do the nasty!”
By the end of the memory, a time so much simpler and happier, Joe has his head back, eyes closed, emotions all over the fucking place.
She was his best friend. The person he trusted the most. More than anyone.
And all of a sudden, it was just….gone.
His entire view of her….gone.
Or maybe not.
Because while this nightmare of an accident has taught and shown him a lot, one of the biggest things it’s made him realize is that while his hurt and confusion and betrayal may be strong, his love for her is stronger.
It always has been.
He was just blinded by all of those other miserable, heavy emotions and too stubborn to do anything about it.
And now he’s in this extremely uncomfortable, confusing as fuck dilemma where he has to find someway to manage and deal with these emotions when they should be managed and dealt with with her.
But how can someone forgive someone for something they don’t even remember doing?
———-
Sleeping in a bed that isn’t yours anymore but once was is….weird.
Sleeping in a bed in a bedroom that was once yours is even weirder.
But, staying in a house full of people who feel like and are, for all intents and purposes, complete strangers is the weirdest of them all.
It’s borderline uncomfortable.
Mariella understands the intentions of her parents. Sees how they think and believe her sleeping in her old bedroom could potentially stir some memories. It makes sense. But, it doesn’t work that way.
At least, it’s not working that way for her.
And to her credit, she tries. Tries to observe and almost study the damn near wall full of photos from her childhood, photos of her with people who are both family and friends. She’s not sure if this was just how she last decorated her old room, but something tells her it’s the result of her family's continued effort to jog her memory. It seems….excessive. But from what she’s gathered, that’s also a good word to describe her personality. Extra. Dramatic even.
If only she could….connect with that somehow.
Stepping out of the shower, she takes her time getting ready. Doesn’t rush to get downstairs where she knows she’ll be greeted with a row of smiling, unfamiliar faces. Mariella really does feel bad that she’s having such a difficult time understanding and connecting, because for all intents and purposes, her ‘family’ has been nothing but kind and supportive.
And she knows this has to be difficult for them, but….she can’t force it.
Even if she wanted to.
Because she damn sure does.
It would all be so much easier that way.
Sure enough, the smell of bacon sizzling on the fire and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee isn’t the only thing that’s waiting for her in the kitchen.
Her father is the first one to lay eyes on her, his smile small but oh so genuine. “Morning, Ella.”
Mariella does her best to return the smile. From what she’s seen and heard, she’s always been exceptionally close with her dad. With her whole family, really.
“Morning.”
Her mom turns around at the sound of her voice and entrance, also smiling. It’s bigger and deeper than her dad’s. And she doesn't hesitate to turn the fire on low, clap her hands against her apron and walk over to pull Mariella into a hug.
It’s not missed upon either woman how Mariella initially tenses. And she feels bad for that too. This is her mother for crying out loud.
April pulls back, the sadness and slight level of rejection evident in her pretty brown eyes that Mariella realizes she inherited from her mother. “I’m sorry, I—”
“No, it’s…it’s okay.” Mariella swallows, forcing an even bigger smile. “You are my mother, after all.”
April’s smile is tight, the coverup for a disappointment Mariella can’t truly understand. “How did you sleep?”
Not very good. “Fine.” She walks over to the machine, lifting the mug that she assumes belongs to her dad given the same word is written in big red letters on said mug. She reaches it to him.
“Thank you.”
A small nod of acknowledgment as she grabs a new mug and starts to brew her coffee when April speaks from where she stands again by the fire. “I was thinking of going to the promenade today. Olivia is going too. Would you like to join us, Ella?”
Mariella doesn’t have to be looking at her mother to know that while it’s meant to be a question, it’s more of a statement. And while she isn’t opposed, much preferring to be out of the house vs in the house, home videos and photos stuffed down her throat, a true question would be nice vs being told.
“Sure,” she answers with a shrug, turning around and pulling out her phone, opening to the contact she’s found herself thinking about the past couple days.
Joe.
Their last correspondence was almost a week ago. All limited to texts that seem rather on the dry end considering they’re supposed to be married. She doesn’t really fault him though. In his defense, he seems to be wanting to give her space vs coming on too strong.
Unlike her family.
She sighs loudly, fingers hovering over the keyboard as she debates editing, once again, the text she’s had drafted for a couple of days but hasn’t built the courage to send.
Mariella: Can we facetime or something?
It’s such a simple thing that she’s not sure why she’s overthinking. In the little interaction she had with him at the hospital, she could see that despite his size, he’s a man on the quiet side. That calmness was appreciated, and in the midst of being bombarded with information, she’s found herself missing that to some extent.
Missing….missing him to some extent.
Even if it makes no sense to her.
“Morning, family.” Olivia’s voice rings into the air, pulling Mariella back into the present. She’s dressed to the nines, and from that alone, without even needing to be told, Mariella knows her sister is a successful woman. She just looks the part. Liv sets a smile that seems a bit off on her, red lipstick contrasting against her almost unnatural, straight, pearly whites. “Hey, sis. How you feeling?”
Such a big question that seems impossible to truthfully answer to the people who are only trying to help. “Good.” So, she lies. “I guess I’m going out with you all shopping today?”
Olivia rolls her eyes and adjusts the expensive looking designer bag on her shoulder. “Of course, you are. We’ve gotta get you back out there.”
“Olivia…”
Olivia turns to their dad, asking, “what? She has to get back to her life eventually.”
“Leave her be, Liv.”
Olivia rolls her eyes, ignoring April and reiterates, “she needs more than just photos and videos, guys.”
Mariella doesn’t know what she specifically needs but being thrusted into social situations when she still hasn’t memorized her SSN seems to not be it either.
But still, she remains quiet.
“Ella.” Mariella turns to her dad, brows raised. “When’s the last time you spoke to Jo—”
“Oh, Ella, I forgot there was something I wanted to show you.” Olivia interrupts the question Mariella was already thinking about without her dad even needing to ask her.
The thing she’s still thinking about even as Olivia pulls out her phone, inundating some random ass photos from back when she was in high school.
The man she can’t seem to stop thinking about.
———-
As expected, shopping has ended up providing just another form of frustration and level of feeling of being overwhelmed.
It wouldn’t be as bad for Mariella if her mom and sister didn’t feel the need to stop and introduce her to almost everyone who’s familiar, to them, that they come across. She feels a bit like a politician, plastering on smiles that don’t meet her eyes and accepting hugs from strangers. Members from church. Old neighbors. Even an old elementary school teacher.
It’s just weird.
So much so that she eventually has to excuse herself, making up some excuse about a headache as she sits outside on a bench in front of the store where Olivia and April continue to shop.
Mariella is grateful for the solitude and uses that to once again play around with just texting her freaking husband of all people.
She could use some of his quiet right now.
“Mariella?”
One thing that’s improved is her ability to respond to her name, but it’s who says her name that has Mariella more stumped than anything.
He’s standing above her, creating a massive shadow and distraction from her sending out the text she’s not exactly sure she wants to actually send.
He’s wearing a smile that’s objectively friendly, but there’s something about it that feels….off. He’s also objectively attractive, pretty light eyes, tall, sinewy build. Facial features that seem more appropriate for a page out of Vogue vs being on this strip of stores.
“Wow. It really is you.” He scoffs and tucks his sunglasses near the collar of his shirt. “It’s been too long.”
Mariella may not know just who exactly she is, but she does know the difference between being friendly and rude. And she really doesn’t know a nicer way to say her first response other than what comes out. “I’m sorry, I don’t….do we know each other?”
The man frowns a bit. “That’s right. I forgot….” Something tells her he feels uncomfortable outright saying what’s otherwise obvious. Like the fact that she was in a severe accident that knocked the shit out of her.
And her memories.
“My name is Brendan. We….we dated back in college.”
Oh.
Mariella still doesn’t know a lot about herself. Much of anything at all, really. But what she is seeing is that her taste in men is pretty damn good, because this Brendan person is far from ugly. Though it’s hard to not compare. Hard to not think about the contrast between him and Joe, her husband’s voice deep and baritone compared to Brendan’s soprano-like tone. Joe’s massive build to Brendan’s much slender one. Even the height difference. She recalls having to crane her head up to look at Joe. Brendan is a few inches taller than her but nothing significant.
And those comparisons also have her reconsidering, yet again, keeping the text as it is right now, just drafted in her phone. Has her wondering what benefits could be gained from just sending it, seeing what he says.
“Oh.” The word escapes her head but nothing else comes out, Brendan clearing his throat.
“This may be poor wording, but you look absolutely amazing considering….well….”
“That I almost died?” He looks uncomfortable but also amused. “It’s…it’s okay. I guess it’s a compliment.”
“I didn’t realize you were in town.” He stuffs his hands in the pockets of his jeans, asking. “How long are you here for?”
Hopefully not much longer.
And it’s a thought that she instantly feels bad about. This is her family, and it’s not their fault she can’t remember. Because they’re trying their damn hardest to change that. But, that’s also a part of the problem.
It’s…..it’s too much.
She feels almost suffocated at times.
Like now with this Brendan person.
“I don’t know.” An honest, truthful answer followed up with more honesty. “But, I’ll be going back to California eventually.” Back to be with her husband. One person vs several who seems really great at giving her information but not too much. Largely only when she asks vs being told in heaps of overwhelming data. “With my husband.”
She doesn’t know why she adds on that last part or why she fiddles with the beautiful diamond on her left hand. The ring that she placed on her finger without much thought when given her items upon being discharged.
Brendan’s lip twitches, his eyes flashing with something that almost looks like irritation. “Of course.” There’s definitely no denying the irritation in his tone. “Listen, I’d love for us to catch up before you leave. A cup of coffee.” Her eyes widen a bit when he adds on, “maybe even dinner—”
“Hello.”
Another voice. This one a bit more familiar. April stands in the doorway of the store with Olivia. They both wear polar opposite expressions. Olivia is smiling in Brendan’s direction while April’s mouth is in a straight line as she moves to stand beside Mariella.
“Mrs. Holmes. Long time, no see.” The irritation is washed away, swapped out with something amiable but also….inauthentic. Mariella doesn’t know if she’s exactly in a place to be judging people or calling them fake when she doesn’t even know who she is, but there’s something….off about this Brendan character.
She doesn’t know a shit ton about Joe either, other than the basics, but right off the bat, between the two of them, she chose the right one to walk down the aisle with.
Her mom’s smile remains tight. “Maybe not long enough.” This takes Mariella by surprise. She hasn’t seen this side of her mother before. Unfriendly, almost.
Olivia, however, rolls her eyes. “Mother, please. You know Brendan also works for the same firm I’m at.” Ahh. That would explain the smile. “Excuse my mom. It’s been….a lot for all of us.”
Now, Mariella is the one fighting back confusion. She gets that this has to be difficult for her family. For her to not remember who they are, but it’s not just them she can’t remember. She can’t remember quite literally anything. She’s the one who’s been impacted the most out of this.
She just kinda wishes they would get that more. Would respect the level of intrapersonal difficulty on her end.
“Of course.” Brendan frowns, but again, it feels inauthentic. “Well, I won’t keep you, ladies—”
“Good.”
Mariella bites down on her lip, turning away to hide her smile as Olivia looks straight up annoyed at April’s coldness.
“I’ll see you at the office, Brendan.” Olivia says almost apologetically, dragging her eyes back to her mom who seems completely unapologetic for her tone.
Brendan nods, landing his gaze back on Mariella. “Remember my offer, Ella.”
She can’t even find it in her to nod or acknowledge his departing message because there’s not a single part of Mariella that wants to entertain his offer let alone take him up on it. Does he not know she’s married?
It’s once he’s gone that April turns toward Mariella, a genuine smile replacing the fake one. “Sweetie, can you go wait in the car? I need to speak to your sister.”
There’s a part of her that would like to overhear this probably interesting conversation, but the desire to just be away and by herself is more overpowering.
“Sure.” She accepts the key fob and shopping bag from her mom, not hesitating to turn on her heel and head back toward the parking lot.
And as soon as she’s gone, Olivia is on April, voice harsh and sharp. “Mother, what the hell was that?”
“Watch your language with me, child.” April’s correction is swift as she crosses her arms. “When did you plan to mention Brendan now works with you?”
“Didn’t realize I had to keep you up to date on the latest hires at my job.” She rolls her eyes, also crossing her arms. “Plus, really, mama? How was that a priority with everything we’ve had happening?”
“Watch it, Olivia.” Aprils loves all her children equally, but Olivia has always been the one to push her close to her limits. “I don’t like that boy. He’s a snake.”
“Oh my gosh…” Olivia turns away for a second, coming back as she points out, “you don’t even know him.”
“I don’t have to know him. You know why? Cause I distinctly remember Joe nearly putting him in the hospital for whatever went down between him and your sister.”
Olivia is taken back for a second. Her mom’s memory is as sharp as the best of them. “You mean when he committed aggravated assault and ruined any chances Brendan had for a basketball career?”
April, however, is not backing down, showing just where Olivia inherited her stubborn personality. “You ever wonder why Joe reacted the way he did? How bad it must have been for him to get that upset?”
“Oh, please. Mama, let’s not act like Joe hasn’t always been a hothead. He’s just better at masking it than BJ.” And before April can protest, Olivia provides facts. “How many times did you and daddy get a call or called down to the office cause BJ got into it with someone, huh? And more often than not, who’d he get in trouble with? Joe.” Olivia shakes her head. “The only reason they always got slaps on the wrist was because they were athletes. Joe has been problematic, and I’m tired of ya’ll not seeing it.” She blows out a big breath. “Brendan is not a bad guy—”
“You saw how he was looking at your sister.” April stresses, lowering her voice. “Don’t no man have no business looking at a married woman like that unless he’s got bad intentions.”
“Ella isn’t even with Joe right now, so what’s the big deal?”
April is quiet for a moment, eyes narrowing in suspicion. “What are you up to, Olivia?”
Olivia easily slides into deflection. “Mama, you’re always so hyper-vigilant—”
April, however, is wise and knowing. She advises with all the seriousness, “don’t think that because your sister can’t remember nothing that you can just rewrite history.”
“Mama—”
“I’m speaking.” And Olivia quiets down because no matter how old she gets, her mother using that tone will never not be able to set her straight. “Hear me, and hear me good, lil’ girl. Ella is home with us now, yes, but she will be going back to California to be with Joe because he is her husband, and her place is with him.”

Spring, 2023
“You want to what?”
Iris was already having a not so great day. Some inept, thinks he's a hot shot lawyer actually thinking that he can lowball and bully her into convincing a client to accept a deal that’s absolute horse shit.
She had to, of course, show him just why she’s the most sought after manager in entertainment. Ruthlessly.
The thought of his bubble eyes nearly bulging out of his head at her cutthroat response is almost enough for her to actually smile. A rare anomaly that happens every couple of years but is especially not going to happen after what she just heard.
Mariella rolls her eyes, again repeating herself. “I said I’ll do the tour.”
Iris knew she heard her right. It’s just the shock of it all that made her need some level of clarification. “I’m sorry, you do remember that this is a world tour, Ella, right?” And in case she forgot, Iris reminds, “you’d be on tour for nine months.”
“And?” Ella shrugs, continuing to write in her notebook, lyrics of some sort. “It’ll be a great opportunity to connect with my fans.”
“Fuck your fans, Ella.” Iris is quick and borderline nasty with it. “Who gives a fuck about them?” She sits down on the opposite end of the sofa. “I’m thinking about you.”
Iris sees the way that Ella tenses at that last part. “I’m fine, Iris.”
“Bullshit.” She then asks, almost tentatively. “Ella….have you sp—”
“No.” It’s a firm, harsh, borderline cruel shut down. A complete sentence compacted into a single word.
Iris closes her eyes. “I just think—”
“Get me the contract to sign, Iris. That’s all I need you to do.”
If only Iris was a ‘yes’ man. “You think this shit is healthy, Ella? You’re running away.”
“I don’t need your judgment.”
“I would never judge you.” And it’s the truth. Iris may judge quite literally everyone else who walks this earth. But not Ella nor Promise Rose, her best friends since she was a child. And especially….especially not Ella. Not after…..after what happened. “But, I just—you’re not happy, Ella.”
There’s a brief second of hesitation. “I wasn’t happy before it happened, Iris.”
Voice softening, Iris calmly contradicts her, “yes, you were.” Ella closes the notebook, pushing it to the side and pulling her legs up to her chest, looking away. Even without a clear look at her face, Iris knows the emotions are brewing. “I just—I think if you tell him—”
“No!” That’s what makes Ella snap her watery gaze back on her best friend turned manager. “I—I can’t. I won’t. He doesn’t deserve to know.”
Iris closes her eyes. “Ella—”
“Have you told anyone?”
Iris is almost offended that Ella could even fix her mouth to ask such a question. Ella knows how massive loyalty and trust are to her. “Of course, not. I would never. I just….I hate to see you like this.”
For as long as Iris has known Ella, she’s always been an annoying ass ray of sunshine. Always seeing the bright side of things. Glass always half full. But in recent months, especially after that….something in her has snapped, has gone away into deep hiding. And usually, this is when Iris would gladly push Ella in the arms of her husband. He’s always been Ella’s safe person.
Now, Iris can’t even get the two in the same room without an argument breaking out.
They’re both just so….angry with each other.
Or maybe it’s not anger.
Maybe it’s just hurt.
“That’s why I need to get away, Iris.” Ella all but whispers. “I need….I need a new environment. I feel like I’m surrounded by reminders.” She sniffles, quickly wiping at her eyes. “I just….it hurts too much to stick around and have to constantly relive it. I—” Her voice cracks. “Please….please just get me the contract.”
“I will.” Iris doesn’t agree with this, doesn’t like it at all, but she also knows her best friend can be determined as hell. If she doesn’t handle the tour negotiations, Mariella will do it on her own and sign just anything just to get away. To escape. “But, I still think you should talk to J—”
“I hate him!”
No one says anything.
Iris is truly stunned into silence. In the two decades that have transpired since the beginning of her friendship, She has never known Mariella to express such strong sentiments against another human being. It’s almost against her nature.
But to say such a thing towards Joe? Her person?
Iris now realizes just how deeply this hurt and trauma lies.
That maybe….that maybe their relationship truly is irreparable at this point. That lies, deception, betrayal, and everything else under the sun has destroyed something she once thought indestructible.
———-
Present
The last name Joe expected to see pop up on his phone is the exact name that’s flashing along with his contact photo for her which happens to be them a couple years back when they finally went on a long awaited honeymoon to Bora Bora. She’s in front of him, his arms around her, her smile big and wide, eyes closed as he kisses her cheek.
It’s one of his favorite pictures of them, and even after all this time, after everything that’s happened….he hasn’t been able to bring himself to change it.
Even….even when for a brief while, he thought he hated her.
There’s a second of delay as Joe hits the green button, officially accepting her FaceTime call.
His connection is the strongest it’s been all day because she’s almost instantly filling his phone screen.
“Hey….”
She smiles, and Joe takes a minute to take her in. The cuts and bruises on her face have almost entirely healed. She doesn’t look as pale as she was laid up in the hospital bed. Her curly hair is pulled into two space buns. “Hi. Is—is this a bad time?” She’s outside, clearly. In her parents backyard on the swing that holds a million and one memories.
Joe shakes his head. “No.” Even if it was, it wouldn’t make a difference. This is the first time she’s called him since being with her family. He’d make whatever work if need be. “How are you feeling?”
She chuckles, but it’s bitter. Almost resentful. “Overwhelmed.”
Joe sits up more, naturally asking, “you wanna talk about it?”
“Thank you for actually asking.” Her voice is soft as she leans back into the swing, answering truthfully, “I know they mean well, and they’re just trying to help, but—”
He finds it almost too easy to finish her statement. Knowing her, her tics and whatnot has always been so easy. “It’s too much.”
“I just….” She blows out a breath. “You seem a lot more chill, and….and you ask me what questions I have instead of just telling me shit that I don’t remember and feel any sort of way about, even though I know I should.”
“It’s….it’s gonna take time.” And that’s truly a guesstimate on Joe’s end, because the official medical recommendation on her amnesia is that it’s unknown when or if she’ll ever fully restore her memories.
And he’s still so damn torn on just how he feels about that.
“I was wondering…” She looks down, pausing. This is such an unfamiliar thing for Joe. He’s not used to her being so quiet. His wife is many things, and quiet is none of them. “I know you’re on the road and stuff, but…is there anyway I can like….join you for a bit?” She quickly adds, “I don’t know if that’s even a thing—”
“It is,” he finds himself answering. Quickly. Probably too quickly. “I travel on a bus for the most part, stay in hotels for the rest, so if you wanted—”
“I do,” she also answers quickly. “I just…I think I need something different. This.” She motions between herself and the camera. “This is a lot easier than having over 30 years of history shoved down my throat.”
Joe feels for her, hates hearing the conflict in her voice, and he doesn’t blame or fault her family. They’re probably doing the best they can. It’s just….not what she needs right now.
“When…..when can I come?”
The almost desperation in her voice catches his attention, creating a sense of excitement in his stomach that’s quickly quenched by the wise reminder that she’s not coming for him. She’s coming to get away. Not that the specific reason makes much of a difference. He just wants to see her.
“When do you want to come?”
She chews down on her bottom lip. “Would tomorrow be too soon?”
His eyes widen a bit as he clarifies. “Tomorrow?”
She nods. “I’m—I’m sure I can get a flight out.”
She could, but he has a better option. “You should use the jet.”
Ri is understandably confused. “Jet?”
Joe has to remind himself yet again to approach this a bit from a tabula rasa standpoint. “You have a private jet. Through your record label.” He does too, but that’s not what’s important right now. He’s also partially confused why they didn’t take it when flying home to Florida, but it’s not a major thing. Nothing worth thinking too much about.
She makes an ‘O’ with her mouth. “That’s right, we are, like, rich, aren’t we?”
He chuckles. “Now, yes.”
She gives a little smile, asking, “I guess there’s a story there?”
“There’s a lot of stories with us, Ri….” His voice is quiet as he clears his throat, not necessarily wanting to go down that road. “If you’re serious about coming—”
“I am.” She speaks up, shoulders dropping. “I just—I think it’d be nice to spend some time with you. Hear about that part of my life at my own pace.” He nods, understanding where she’s coming from, trying not to put too much into her comment about wanting to directly spend time with him. “Is it just you on the bus?”
“Basically. My cousins sometimes hang out, but they have their own bus, so I gladly kick them out when it starts getting late.”
She smiles, and Joe is close to screenshotting, wanting to add it to his collection when her smile dips into something else, eyes squinting. “J—Jon, right?” Joe sits up more. “And…..Jo—Josh?” He scoffs, in a partial state of disbelief and shock. “They’re….they’re twins, aren’t they?”
He nods, unable to speak. Did….did she really just remember something? On her own?
A frown falls on her face. “I don’t….can’t remember anything other than that and something….I don’t know, something about Uno?”
Joe laughs. The best laugh he’s had in some time, since this whole nightmare began. “Before your schedule got super crazy, you’d come on the road with me, and you and my cousins always played Uno, and it always ended up being a thing because you all suck and can never agree on the rules.”
She giggles, eyes twinkling with mischief. “And what about you? Are you any good?”
He scoffs. “Better than ya’ll.”
Her mouth drops open as she declares. “Okay, then we definitely need to play when I get there. Cause I feel like I might surprise ya’ll. Maybe I could beat you.”
Joe makes a sound. “You can try. You've never been able to beat me. None of ya’ll.”
She crosses her arms and exclaims with all the confidence. “Oh, I’ve gotta knock you down a peg. Are you always this arrogant?” She asks, head tilted.
His correction is calm and assured. “Not arrogant, baby. Confident.”
Her smile deepens, and Joe finds himself enjoying her company more than he has in some time. Even if it’s through a damn phone. “Yeah, well, you’ve got the looks to back it up. Let’s see if you have the talent.”
She has no idea. “Just remember you asked for this.”
“Whatever.” She rolls her eyes, and they exchange a prolonged locking of gazes. “I—-that’s the first thing I’ve remembered on my own, and you….you didn’t even have to try to force it.”
She swallows, voice softening. “I’d really like to come see you.”
He wants her to come too. More than she could know. “Text your sister. Everly. Not Olivia. See if she’ll fly out with you. If not, I’ll come. You don’t need to be traveling by yourself.”
Ri frowns. “I don’t—I was medically cleared to travel.”
“Yes, and you did so without incident because your team hadn’t announced you’d been released yet, but now the public knows you’re out. They spot you, and the fucking paparazzi will be all over you. You don’t need that.” Mariella has never enjoyed the constant flashing of lights and cameras in her face anyway.
He doesn’t want her dealing with that on her own. “Okay.” She then asks, “Why not ask Olivia?”
Joe debates how to approach this. “Your sister and I….we’ve never gotten along. If she knows you’re coming to see me, she’ll probably decline to travel with you. Everly is more or less a flower child. She’ll be fine with it.”
It’s the best answer he can come up with in the moment. He happens to think Olivia is a certified bitch who sticks her nose where it doesn’t belong, but he would never do anything to create a biased view of how she sees her sister.
Anyone in her family.
Ri chuckles, and he half expects her to ask why her sister doesn’t like her husband, but she instead hits him with something unexpected. “Do you know who Brendan is?”
And just like that, any relaxed state he had is ripped away with a single name. “Brendan?” She nods. “Where did you see him? How?”
She seems taken back by his questions, and he hates bombarding her, but that fucker is one person that always will be able to get Joe to act out of character.
She honestly offers more information than he was expecting. “I—today at the promenade out with my mom and sister. I get the sense my mom doesn’t like him, but Olivia seemed friendly. I guess they work together.”
Fucking Olivia….yeah, Joe’s definitely gonna have to bite the bullet and text her. Because in no way, shape, or form does he want that son of a bitch anywhere around his Ri. And the fact that he may even be a fucking attorney or lawyer blows Joe’s mind.
That creep should be the one in jail.
“He’s not a good person, and he needs to stay the fuck away from you.” Before she can ask anything else, he tells her, “let me know what Everly says. If not, I’ll have a flight out tomorrow morning.” He’s definitely got to get her out of there now. He wants to put and keep as much distance between Mariella and Brendan as possible, and if she remembered just why they broke up, she’d want the same.
Mariella nods. “I—I can call her now.”
“Do that.”
She swallows. “Okay.” Mariella opens her mouth and seems to hesitate for a minute. “Thank you, Joe.”
Her thanking him feels weird, because he’s never looked for that from her. Never really wanted it really. Just wanted her. Her love. Her trust.
Getting into that not so great place, he shakes his head, reminding, “just text me whenever you find out, I’ll keep my notifications on.
This seems to please her. “Okay.” She gives him another smile. Of a parting and appreciative nature. “Bye.”
“Bye.” She ends the call, and despite him deep down knowing he should wait until he’s calmed down a bit to message Olivia, Joe’s fingers seem to move faster than his brain.

How do you practice manifesting?
i strongly take into account my human design chart, so i use it more to inform how i manifest. for me it’s ingrained into my lifestyle. what i do currently:
mood boarding and visual inspiration. in human design my strongest sense is “outer vision” which makes visuals THE most important way for me to manifest. i am constantly collecting pictures on tumblr, pinterest, and instagram so i’m doing this all the time.
using the correct manifesting type. i’m a non-specific manifester so i focus on the vibes and feelings i want. i don’t place limits and i remain very open to possibilities. i usually do this when i am writing my morning pages and also sometimes at night before i go to bed so i fall asleep on those feelings.
morning pages. i write morning pages every day which helps clear out all the junk on my mind. the solution to any problem i have usually just occurs to me while i write and it comes on the paper. i always know what i should do which makes it easier to get what i want (less doubt or confusion). it did take a long time for me to trust myself though.
trusting my gut. i’m a generator in human design so i listen to my instinctual yes/no reaction. i don’t need to go out chasing and initiating. the options are always presented to me and IF I’M PAYING ATTENTION and TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY and DON’T OVERTHINK IT WITH LOGIC i can tell what is a yes or no pretty much straight away. feeling frustrated is a sign i’m on the wrong path so i also take that feeling really seriously. again, took me a long time to get here but now it is easy for most things. the more i get on a path where there’s a lot of yes’s means i’m successfully manifesting and going in the right direction.
putting the rest under the cut bc it’s getting long lol.
growth mindset. if an opportunity falls through i trust that it was supposed to happen that way. something better is meant for me. i take what i learned from the experience and trust i was meant to go through it to be better prepared for achieving my goals. i’m so much more calm this way which also allows me to see opportunities better, bc I’m not reacting to everything from a place of fear, stress, and scarcity.
understand manifesting = opportunities to act upon. i think people forget this. it doesn’t land in your lap, manifesting just brings options to me. i still have to take some level of action which is the hard part!! if you don’t have self worth or self trust you won’t be able to do this well or consistently. you have to actively say yes and do whatever action it requires to follow through. it can be tiny, like sending a message or buying something. but correct manifesting (as a generator) will bring options to me. it’s up to me if i accept or not.
orient my life around my profile and gifts. i’m a 2/4 profile and my gift is gift 3 (highly related to storytelling and living by example). the more i lean into what these mean (connection to community, deep connections, pursuit of knowledge, nurturing others through my writing and storytelling etc) the more smoothly my life seems to go.
i’m chill about it. bc my type is non-specific it’s crucial to be chill. no timelines. no desperation or anxiousness. no trying to decide how it should look or unfold, that’s not my place. the universe has it under control and i don’t need to waste my energy on this. when i forget and try to control too much is when life goes to shit. a hard lesson to learn when we are told to plan every detail and obsess and that being stressed means you’re working hard as a good thing… basically had to unlearn that whole mindset and start over.
sorry it’s a long answer but overall rather than manifesting being some separate activity or just one thing i do, i slowly shifted my entire lifestyle so that it’s a natural part of how i live on a daily basis 🤍

HELLO! ^^
I’m a huge sucker for romance and relationship dynamic type questions so I do have some questions about VernAM (I believe that’s the right way)
Not the questions have to be answered, as I believe I have too many! But here’s my top three
1. In one of the little comics you did I believe AM talked about how he refused to give himself a body heat because of the concern he would produce and odour and this is where this question blooms from, does AM have any insecurities when it comes to his human body, or a fear that he doesn’t meet Vernons expectations? Or that she’ll find something un attractive or gross about him?
2. Whats their favourite thing about each other? It could be a personality trait, a skill, a body part, or say a little habit they tend to do?
3. Are they more dog people, cat people, or some other species like fish or reptilians or do they not prefer animals at all (if they had the ability to adopt pets)
Thank you so much! I love your art so very much and gain lots of inspiration from you to grow better in not just art but in educating myself in different cultures and ethnicities, please remember to drink water and I hope you have a wonderful day! Thank you once again! ^_^
Howdy Romeo! I'm happy I was able to inspire you in some way! I'd be happy to answer all your questions! Thank you for the ask! 💞💞

1.) Does AM have any insecurities when it comes to his human body?
Obviously, yes. It's AM's first time on Earth physically, of course he would have insecurities. However, it's not fully because he wants to meet Vernon's expectations. It's the fear of BEING.
(This is gonna lean into some confusing type shit so bear with me. I briefly touched upon it in the second question of this post)
When AM was given a physical, tangible body, there's now a HIM that can suddenly be held accountable for his actions and that makes him uncomfortable. So being aware his body isn't as mighty as him (the complex), AM tries to combat it by removing variables that can be prone to criticism even if Vernon doesn't mind.
Look at it this way; usually people act differently online than they do in real life, right? That's usually because there's often a disconnect with their actions. This discrepancy largely stems from the perceived disconnect between their online actions and their real-world identities. When interacting online, there is often no face or tangible form that can be directly traced back to the individual. This sense of anonymity can lead to a significant reduction in accountability.
As a result, individuals—particularly those who may not be well-adjusted or who possess mean-spirited tendencies—feel emboldened to say and do things they would never consider in face-to-face interactions. They exploit this lack of immediate consequences, engaging in behaviors that are often harmful, disrespectful, or downright cruel - Much like AM, who only just recently acquired a body. (I hope that makes sense ;0;)
2.) What's their favorite thing about each other?
I'll categorize these by personality traits, skill, body part, and habit!
Vernon likes AM because of his hatred/sass because it allows her to have an outlet for her morbid curiosity along with an entertaining conversation. She doesn't find his skills her favorites because that's just him, she believes AM doesn't have skills as a man. Her favorite body part is AM's eyes, he's easier to read as a man. His pupils dilate significantly when he looks at her and AM doesn't even know. A habit she finds endearing from AM is him holding onto the end of her shirt with his hand and following her around wherever she goes.
As for AM, Vernon's take no prisoners attitude is his favorite part of her personality. Of course AM also enjoys the moments when she's caring towards him, but that's something expected. His favorite skill is how good of a liar Vernon is. She could tell him something so outlandish with such a straight face that AM would consider believing it; it's like she believes the lie herself. His favorite part of Vernon's body is her lips, AM likes how soft and warm they are, and how they're shaped. A habit he enjoys is that she would pace around the space they're sharing when she's talking, AM just likes watching her walk, I guess.
3.) Which animals do they prefer, if any?
In regards to if they're cat or dog people; Vernon is a dog person, to her they're easier to train. AM would probably like cats since they do as they please.
For other animals, They would be a Reptile and Bird household xD. I could see Vernon owning a bearded dragon or any cold blooded reptile while AM has like a cool African Grey Parrot :)
But in reality I don't think these two should have access to animals lmao
Aaand that's all for now :3 if you'd like me to clarify anything, feel free to ask! Thank you for reading!

I was hoping to post my "business man Charles & brothel cleaner/ (sort of) sex worker Max" one shot a few days ago but it keeps growing and is over 10,000 words somehow so here is a little snippet. The full thing will be posted very soon.
“So do I have to pay more for the shower? They said a flat rate plus tip for the night.”
Max opens his mouth to try and explain that the only thing he is really allowed to do for a client in the shower is clean it but then Charles slips his trousers off and all rational thought leaves his mind. Toto always says the best type of clients are satisfied clients and he also says that the client is always right. If Charles thinks Max is a sex worker then by Toto’s reckoning Max is a sex worker. Or at least that is the excuse Max plans on using when his boss finds out he jumped into the shower with one of their high value clients.
“No extra charges,” Max takes a steadying breath, “They just uh - , they just didn’t tell me exactly what you wanted.”
Charles is already heading on through to the bathroom so Max hurriedly kicks off his shoes and socks as he hops after him and tries to work out if he should be trying to slip into some sort of sexy alter ego,
“I didn’t specify,” Charles sets about turning the shower on, “I’m not into anything you might consider out the ordinary.”
Max nods although he’s not entirely sure if out of the ordinary holds a different meaning when it comes to sex work. It doesn’t really matter because as Charles steps out of the last of his clothing Max decides he’d be up for pretty much anything. Charles could put a leash on him and ask him to bark like a dog and he’d do it gladly.
“I just asked them to send me someone special, after all this is a celebration,” Charles closes the gap between them and Max drags his gaze back up from where it’s been fixed on Charles’ rather sizeable dick.
“Special?”
“Special” Charles repeats softly, his breath warm against Max’s lips as they come face to face, “I think they’ve done an excellent job of fulfilling that.”
Max’s cheeks darken as he blushes, something he hopes Charles writes off as being down to the increasing humidity as the steam from the shower starts to fill the space.
“You’re a blusher” Charles grins, “I like that. Very cute.”
Max’s blush deepens and from the way his ears feel burn he’s almost certain the redness has extended right up to the tips of his ears. Any thoughts of adopting some confident sexy persona evaporate into the shower mist.
“You’re not shy are you?” Charles coos as he tugs at the bottom of Max’s t-shirt.
“I’m not shy” Max lies as he lifts his shirt up over his head and resists the urge to ask how he looks. He’s not in bad shape but he’s not sure he has the type of body people pay for, if Charles isn’t satisfied then Max knows that there’s a chance he could just ask for someone else, which would be mortifying.
He’s just about to ask if he’s good enough when Charles’ mouth finds his and he’s moaning into it pathetically. If the way Charles is kissing him is anything to go by then Charles doesn’t appear to disappointed in him. Far from it.
“Lets get you out of the rest of these” Charles dips his fingertips along the inside waistband of Max’s sweatpants and eases them down. If Charles is having buyers remorse then there’s no sign of that registering on his face, in fact Max can’t help but feel a fluttering in his stomach with the way Charles is looking at him.
“I like to use names,” Charles interlaces his fingers with Max’s as he leads him over to the shower, “I presume that is okay?”
“Like slut?” Max says before he can engage his brain. It’s a semi-reasonable guess, or at least he thinks it is, it’s met with laughter though.
“I was thinking more sweetheart, princess, that type of thing” Charles is still chuckling as he grips at Max’s hips and manoeuvres him under the spray of the shower, “Okay sweetheart?

How to Have Better Conversations
I’m writing this at the request of my partner. She shared she’s really been struggling with making conversation more than usual lately. I shared some thoughts on how I navigate conversations she found useful and asked if I’d be willing to make a resource or write more about it. This is not meant to be a definitive expert guide, it’s built from my observations and experiences as someone who is autistic and has to navigate a lot of social situations completely manually. This is how I break down the individual components of conversation.
When I spelled this all out, one of her takeaways was that conversations actually involve a lot of microdecisions and that’s why they can be so tiring. And I think that’s totally correct. But I think it’s also why some people can thrive with them because it’s actually a lot of difficult decisions that are tricky to pull off well so when you can and do, there’s a real sense of accomplishment that can make talking more appealing.
I have a feeling this post will be overcomplicated and convoluted to a lot of folks but maybe there’s a handful of folks for whom it is helpful. Take what works, leave the rest. Summary at the end.
Types of Conversation
Topics of conversation are decently important in my experience. They ultimately let you know where the conversation will go - whether it’s likely to end in a dead end, what sorts of things it will allow you to learn about the person you’re discussing with. In my experience, just about all conversation topics fall into one of four camps.
While I talk about Best Use and Don’t Use here - most conversation in the following topics will fall somewhere in-between. They’re just sign posts, not rules.
Me
The focus is on you. Me topics are ultimately about telling a story about yourself with some amount of conscious intent.
Best Use
The best use of this is setting expectations and conveying preferences. This allows your talking about yourself to serve a purpose that ultimately assists the other person in knowing how to understand and interact with you best without necessarily demanding certain treatment front. They might change or not change how they interact with you and this can show how responsive you might expect them to be.
Examples:
“I’m a writer so I don’t work 9-5. If I reply at odd times, that’s probably what’s going on.”
“One of my favorite ways to get to know someone is to grab a hot drink and go for a walk with them.”
Don’t Use
The worst use of this is look a certain way - knowledgeable, impressive, interesting. Basically any use rooted in getting another person to like you. Genuine connection doesn’t start from a place of elevating one person over another. Plus honestly 90% of people just do not care about why you think you’re interesting, important, etc and hate feeling pressured to validate you.
Examples:
“My boss was even stumped by the issue but I figured it out on my own.”
“All my friends say I’m the best at baking.”
“I keep a bunch of tools in my car, I’m ready to fix anything anywhere.”
You
The focus is on the other person. You topics are ultimately about letting the other person share the story of themselves.
Best Use
The best use of You topics is to better understand how a person understands themselves. Open ended questions that invite them to show their thinking as well and shows you how they reason. The common acronym FORD (family, occupation/occupy time, recreation, dreams) is a decent
Example:
“So how did you find yourself in this city? What was that journey like?”
“Why did you take up [your hobby]? What drew you to it?”
Don’t Use
Don’t use you topics to actively try to find fault with someone else. It’s great to have standards and hard no’s for your friendships and relationships. But poking around for them upfront can alienate people who you’d otherwise like - suspicion is not a desirable quality in a friend or potential partner. Ultimately you have to let a person show you who they are and make a personal call. There’s no short cut.
Example:
“So why did you and your ex break up?”
“So you get angry easily then?”
Both
The focus is on a shared expertise/language, not on the story of either of you.
Best Use
The best use of both topics is to notice things about them they wouldn’t think to explicitly share necessarily and to connect in a way that only people with your shared interest or expertise allows.
Example:
My partner and I both have a background in academic medical research. However when we talk about it, it becomes apparent that my focus is on the practical and researcher side and hers is on the data and compliance side. It’s interesting to note where our similar interests compliment and diverge.
Don’t Use
Don’t use both topics to try one up or show you know more than the other person. The minute you do that the shared aspect - and therefore connection - is gone.
Example:
I once went on a date with a man who spent a half hour explaining how GIS systems work in a very “look at me” way after I mentioned I had used them when I was studying forestry in college. It was boring as hell.
Neither
The focus is on a topic without a shared expertise/language, not on the story of either of you.
Best Use
The best use of neither topics is a shared exploration/experience. One person will usually know a little more about a topic than the other person. The person who knows less benefits by learning about a topic they’re curious about. Their questions and observations invite the other to think about this topic in a new light so the experience winds up being somewhat shared.
Examples:
A woman in line at Lowes let me know I could overwinter mums in this area. I proceeded to ask her about how she’d taken such good care of hers and whether the effortwas worth it. She thoughtfully answered my questions and I learned a lot.
I mentioned to my partner a personal project I’m considering undertaking. She asks about my motivations for it and in doing so I have to further clarify them. She learned a little about what my project was about and I learned what I was really after, seeing it fresh.
Don’t Use
Don’t use neither topics to soapbox about things that are of solely personal interest. If someone makes it clear they’re not interested pivot to something more interesting. Even neither topics require at least a little bit of common ground.
Examples:
I regularly talk about group hypocrisies I’m trying to make sense of before realizing that people outside of that group don’t really care.
Ideal Ratio
In general, in reflecting on my own conversations, I think a ratio where more than half the conversation is on either both or neither topics are the most rewarding. It’s where neither party walks away feeling like they talked too much about themselves and when meaningful and interesting topics still have been discussed.
I think it’s a common mistake to try to get the conversation to be 50% you, 50% me. That’s where conversations feel like a job interview and get exhausting real quick. They also have an appearance of depth as people disclose more to keep the conversation going but with out a feeling of connection after because little time is spent on exploration and shared experience.
How to Respond
So knowing what topic you’re currently or want to talk about is one part of this, but the other is choosing a response. I generally let the other person’s response dictate some measure of my response.
Pivot
If someone seems negatively engaged - leaning back, looking around a lot, arms crossed, giving short answers - I pivot to a neutral topic. I find neutral topics work best because the focus is not on either of you - they don’t feel like they’re under pressure to disclose or act interested in you. Neutral topics also allow them to lead the pace - asking questions and making observations at the level they feel comfortable. If they continually seem negatively engaged, it’s usually best to bail from the conversation, especially if asking questions about the dynamic itself seems like it might not be welcome.
Matching
If someone seems neutrally engaged - mostly looking in your direction, not leaning toward or away, giving input on what you’re saying - I match and continue with the topic.
FOOL
Being a little like the Fool in the Major Arcana is actually a great way to be a good conversationalist - genuine, curious, brave, and receptive. Bellow are some concrete ways how.
Follow up questions - Good follow up questions come from a genuine place of curiousity. They also tend to either fill in gaps in your own understanding or encourage the speaker expand the discussion into a new but related area.
Observation - Observations on the topic itself are great but not your only option. You can oberve how a person seemed to feel when talking about the topic. You can observe that they’d touched on a related topic before. Comparison is a fruitful ground for observations as well - “That’s similar to…” and ”That’s very different than….”
Opinion - Offering an opinion or requesting their opinion is a good way to keep a conversation going. In general, it’s best to avoid generalizations, soften them a little to start with, and make sure there is some measure of compassion in the opinion you’re sharing. Rigidity leaves little room for discussion and exploration.
Levity - Where appropriate, make a joke, share a meme, craft a pun, tease them a little. Laughter is a shared experience that connects us.
Building
If someone seems positively engaged - leaning forward, making eye contact, coming closer to you for neurotypical people and actively engaging with the content of what you’re saying regardless of stims or eye contact for neurodivergent folks - I build on what we’re talking about. I self disclose my feelings and personal connections to the topic one step further than what the person I’m talking with has.
It’s important not to disclose a lot more than the person you’re talking with has. It leads to a vulnerability hangover for you and can be quite awkward and uncomfortable for them. If you disclose just a little more than the person you’re chatting with, then it’s much more easy to recover and match their level if they seem uncomfortable with what you shared.
Decision Tree
“What topic are we talking about currently?”
Me - Set expectations, share preferences; you focused
You - Understand you as you understand yourself; other person focused
Both - Connect over a shared language; idea focused
Neither - Connect over a shared exploration; idea focused
“What cues am I getting from the other person?”
If positive, build on current topic - be vulnerable
If neutral, match on current topic - be a FOOL*
If negative, pivot to a different topic - preferably neutral or in ratio**
*FOOL
Follow up questions - genuine curiousity - “I wonder…”
Observe - conversation, feelings, topic - “I noticed…”
Opinion - cautious, concise, compassionate - “I’ve often thought…”
Levity - make jokes, share memes - laughter connects
**Ratio
51% Both/Neither
<49% Me/You

Loosing Control
[Gideon Graves x Female!Reader]
Synopsis: Your love is a thing of magic. It's strong and apparently real and Gideon doesn't quite know how to deal with it.
WC: 2489
Category: Slight Lime/Spice {Gideon’s POV}
I’m actually surprised that so many people love my Gideon fics. The AMOUNT of anons I’ve suddenly started to receive this past week just because of this man is astronomical and I’m totally here for it!! (Also this gif got me feeling all types of things 🫣)
『••✎••』
Gideon Graves was at a loss for words. He didn't know what he had expected from this meeting, but it certainly wasn't this. He wasn't exactly in a position to be calling anyone out on the carpet, so to speak, but it had been at least an hour since you had burst into the office—pounding on the door, demanding to be let in—and Gideon had done nothing to stop you. Instead, he sat on his sofa, staring at you in silence. He'd already known you would be upset. He didn't need you to tell him that.
"Look," he said.
Gideon Graves was a genius. He knew that. His ability to multitask and think fast on his feet had gotten him far in his career and had garnered him numerous accolades and awards, from the Pulitzer to the Nobel Prize. And yet he hadn't expected you.
He wasn't sure what he had expected. You had been his assistant for nearly five years now. Gideon had made it clear from the beginning that he was not interested in anything more than a professional relationship between the two of you, but that didn't mean he hadn't thought about it. There was just something about you. The way your mouth moved when you were speaking. The way you stood so close to him in the mornings that he could smell the soap on your skin and the coffee on your breath.
"Just give me a minute," he said.
You blinked at him. "What?"
Gideon stood up and paced the room, adjusting his glasses and running his hands through his hair.
"There are so many things I want to say, but they all seem like the wrong things," he said. "I've never really been good with words."
You pressed your hand to your lips, shaking your head. "No, no, I get it. It's my fault. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have come here like this."
"You're not making this any easier for me, you know."
"No, I—I know." You drew your hand away, and your face flushed. You sat on the edge of the sofa, pulling your knees to your chest. "You don't have to make excuses for me or anything. I know I just barged in here."
"You always do that," Gideon said. He leaned his hip against the edge of his desk, resting his weight on his elbow. "You've been my assistant for five years now and you never knock."
You smiled. "You told me not to. You said I was always allowed to come into your office without knocking."
Gideon shrugged. He had been trying to get you out of his hair, to be completely honest. You had been such a nuisance—so nosy and needy and persistent—and yet he found himself drawn to you. He never meant for things to go this far. He was a lot of things, but unprofessional was not one of them.
He wasn't sure why you had come here. What you had possibly thought you were going to accomplish. Gideon Graves did not feel. Not in the way other people did. He could love, sure, but it wasn't in the traditional way. He could want and need and desire. But he wasn't capable of love. He hadn't loved his mother. He hadn't loved his father, though he had always been fond of the man.
Gideon had not loved you. Not at first. In fact, you had been an irritation, a nuisance. And yet, as time went on and you had learned to read him better, to anticipate his needs and desires, your presence became comforting. He liked being with you. He enjoyed listening to your voice, the way you laughed and smiled, and how you always looked so pleased with yourself, no matter how small the task you had completed.
"You have to understand," he said, "I'm not..."
Gideon searched your eyes. You were beautiful, he realized. You were soft and warm and kind, and he had never really thought of you as anything more than an assistant, but there was something about you now, something that made you look different. He couldn't quite explain it.
You were staring at him, your gaze fixed on his face.
Gideon cleared his throat. "You need to know what you're getting yourself into before we go any further."
Your brows drew together. "What do you mean?"
"I'm a broken man," he said, holding his hand in front of his face. He ran his fingers through his hair, tugging at the ends. "I can't promise you anything; I'm not... I’m not good at this sort of thing. You have to know that."
You tilted your head to one side, studying his face. He could see the worry in your expression. Gideon had seen that look before so many times. His father had given him that same look when Gideon had first told him he wanted to go to college. His mother had given him that same look when he had decided to move to Toronto alone. Even his own reflection in the mirror had looked at him with that same worried expression when Ramona had left him.
You looked at him as though you were afraid of him, but you didn't speak. You just looked at him, waiting.
"I don't know what I'm doing," he said, "and I can't promise that this will end up working out. It never has before, and it probably won't this time, either."
"Is this about Ramona?" you asked, your voice soft. "Is that what this is about?"
"No," Gideon said quickly. "That's in the past. That was... I was young and foolish."
"You weren't young," you said with a laugh. "I was literally there when you made the whole league thing. Then you got your ass—no offense—kicked by Pilgrim and that girl with the beautiful scarf.”
Gideon had never talked to anyone about that moment. He didn't talk about his failures, at least not when they were that severe. Even he had to admit that getting his ass kicked had been a bit of an embarrassing moment for him.
"Yeah, let’s not talk about that,"
You laughed again. "You know what this sounds like to me? It sounds like you're trying to talk me out of being with you."
"Well..." Gideon frowned, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "I guess that's true."
Your expression softened. "That's because you think it's not going to work out, isn't it? Better not to try than fail, right?"
Gideon didn't speak.
You moved across the room, crossing the floor until you were standing in front of him. You placed your hands on his chest, sliding them up the sides of his neck and cradling his face in your hands. You were looking at him, searching his eyes.
"I know it's hard for you to trust people," you said, "but I've been by your side for five years, and you don’t need to use a chip for assurance that this will work."
“Wait a minute, hold on—”
You leaned into him, kissing his lips. You smiled against his mouth, giggling softly. You were kissing him. You were kissing him. You were actually kissing him, and Gideon didn't know what to do about it.
You pulled away and kissed him again, harder this time. You moved against him, pushing him back so that he fell against the edge of his desk. His heart was pounding in his chest. You had your hands on his shoulders now, pushing his coat from his body.
For once, Gideon didn’t have control, and he wasn't sure how he felt about that. He liked being in charge. It was what he was used to. He knew what he was doing and how to get things done. Yet, here he was, watching his jacket drop to the floor, feeling your hands on his body.
“Do you still think you need that chip of yours?” you asked, pressing your lips to his ear.
Gideon sighed, tilting his head back as you kissed his neck and his jaw. You were undoing his tie now, letting it drop to the floor.
“Listen, I had a perfectly good reason for that chip. Ramona, she was...I had a lot going on with her, and it just made sense at the time, but then—shit—I didn't mean—I didn't—this is—it's really complicated, okay?”
You were kissing him as he spoke. You kissed the corner of his mouth. You kissed his neck and collarbone. Gideon had to remind himself to breathe. He had to remind himself how to move. How to think. How to do anything.
"You really are all over the place," you murmured.
Gideon glanced at you, panting due to the lack of oxygen in his system. His eyes were full of you, the shape of your face, the sound of your voice. The curve of your nose. Your smile. Your lips.
You had your hands on his shoulders, that same soft, pleading look in your eyes. You looked at him as though you wanted something, and it was hard for him to deny you, but it wasn't that simple. It never was.
"I can't promise you anything," he said.
You nodded. "I know."
"I'm not the easiest person to be around. I don't even know how I'm supposed to...to..." He swallowed. "I just don't know how to do this."
You stepped away from him, taking your hands from his shoulders. You seemed to know the right thing to say. You always knew the right thing to say. "Don't worry about that right now."
Gideon turned from you. He needed to get a hold of himself. He couldn't be weak like this. He needed to be in control. He needed to focus.
"I need to get back to work," he said, rubbing his eyes with his hand. "We've been away for too long."
You stared at him for a moment. You seemed to be waiting for him to change his mind, but he didn't. He knew he needed to focus. He needed to do what he had always done. He needed to bury himself in work until it was all that consumed him, and there was nothing else to do but sleep and breathe.
"Okay," you said. “Okay, Gideon.”
He didn't look at you as you turned to go. You hadn't even given him a chance to ask you to stay. He couldn't look at you right now, so he didn't turn around as he heard you open the door, close it behind you, and leave.
You hadn't left him mentally, though. Not yet. He could still smell your perfume in the air. He could still see the shape of your body in the chair in front of his desk. He could hear the way you sighed, the way your voice had been soft when you had said his name.
Gideon needed to get back to work, but all he could think about was you. He didn't even know how he had managed to convince himself that it was a good idea to push you away. He did the opposite with Ramona, forcing her into his life until she was a part of him.
So why was it when you had actually wanted him, he had pushed you away?
It had never happened with anyone else, not like this.
Gideon reached up to his neck, touching the skin where your lips had been. It had only been a kiss, a simple touch, but he couldn't remember the last time someone had made him feel like this. You were so soft and kind and... beautiful.
He reached down for his fallen coat that you had tossed to the ground. He lifted it, carrying it to the back of the sofa. He picked up his tie, too, and placed it into the pocket of the jacket, folding it neatly.
There was so much he didn't understand about himself. There was so much he didn't know and would likely never know, but he knew how he felt about you. He could admit that to himself, at least, even if he couldn't admit it to you. Not yet.
“Idiot… Idiot.” Gideon groaned, burying his face in his hands. He sat down on the edge of the couch, falling onto his back. He stared up at the ceiling, his mind drifting back to you.
When Scott Pilgrim had won that battle against him, Gideon was left to wake up and realize that there was a whole world out there that he had no control over. It was a frightening thing for him to come to terms with, but there it was. The world was going on with or without him, and he couldn't change that.
You were there for him, though. You had always been there for him. You had been so soft and kind and gentle. His ego was completely shattered when Scott brought him to his knees, but you had been there for him, comforting him as he recovered emotionally.
And yet, that wasn't all you had done for him. You have helped him in so many ways since you started working with him. You were the perfect assistant—attentive, thorough, and never a bother. He could ask you to fetch anything for him, and you always had.
You also knew when he wanted to be left alone and respected his boundaries. He had to be very careful around people. If you use the wrong words or the wrong tone of voice, everything could fall apart. And it had—it was—with Ramona.
Ramona. It still hurt to think about her, but he could admit that what he felt for you was far different than what he had ever felt for Ramona. What he had felt for Ramona had been a sort of hyperfocus. That was what he told himself anyway. She made him feel things that no one else ever had, but it had never been real. And Gideon knew the difference. Ramona wasn’t love; it was obsession.
You were love. You made him feel so... so human. He didn't want to get into the nitty-gritty details of that, but you made him feel alive. You made him feel real.
Gideon sat up and crossed the room. When he was stressed, or upset, or upset because he was stressed, he found himself pacing. It was one of the few that helped him focus. As he paced, he glanced at the door, staring at the knob as he imagined you coming back through it.
That’s it, he thought. He needed to do something. He needed to go after you to make things right. Make sure that you knew he was serious. Make sure that you know what was at stake here.
Gideon wasn't good with words, but he knew that he would figure out a way. Figuring out ways to fix things had never been a problem for him.
He was the smartest man in the world. How hard could it be?
God, I need to learn how to write actual endings instead of leaving everything open 😭😭
Conclusions are the bane of my existence istg

Hi! Absolutely love ur work💕💕 Okay so could you write hcs with all four members (separate) that have a quiet/ shy type s/o?
(Sorry that this req is short but my brain is running out of juice rn, love the work, keep it up😘😘)
ᡣ𐭩 tokio hotel w shy s/o
thank u so much! and don’t worry, you’re doing great! let’s appreciate all my shy and quiet homies out there! y’all deserve some more appreciation in your life.
headcannons down below!
bill
loves loves loves that you’re shy, he thinks it’s so cute
usually one to go for loud spontaneous girls but you’re like a stick in the mud, and that drew you to him
since you don’t talk much you’re a really good listener, and bill is known to ramble a lot
appreciates the fact you listen to him attentively
because of how tall he is, loves the fact that whenever you’re out to meet new people you hide behind him, how you have to peak behind his shoulder once he introduces you to his peers or acquaintances and is always holding your hand through it, squeezing it to ensure everything is okay
hand holding in public gets you super shy but bill loves to show you off in any way possible
his love language is definitely words of affirmation, so will out of the blue compliment you to see how you react
hiding your face, not knowing how to respond, running away from him to only catch up to you quickly
he fucking loves that shit
“aww come on baby, am i not allowed to tell you how beautiful you are?”
tom
just like bill, usually goes for spontaneous girls
but when he saw you at the club and how flustered you became when he hit on you, MANS WAS DRAWN INNN
physical touch all the way, makes you insane and knees weak, and he just lives for that
sudden grabs of the waist, hugging, holding your neck gently to swiftly pull you into a kiss
maybe if he’s feeling bold he’ll sneak a hand on your ass
the eye contact goes crazy, once you look at him and he catches you, he’ll never break his gaze
finds it super adorable that you’re always the one to break the stare down, laughs and pats your head always afterwards
omgosh loves and i mean fucking loves it when you hide yourself in his clothes especially his sweaters when he’s wearing them how you’ll just tuck yourself into the sweater bodies pressed together engulfing like FUCK do this more often he loves it
whenever you go out to get food, you’re shyness doesn’t allow you to take to service workers so he always offers to order for you, eventually it becomes a habit and does it himself
“how’s that baby, i made sure to get your coffee just how you like it.. oh me? a coca cola!”
gustav
introvert x introvert ALL THE WAYY BABEYYY
the way you and gustav show affection for one another usually comes from physical touch or acts of service
communicating with each other isn’t hard, it’s almost like a spidey sense where you just know what the other person wants or needs and can simply do that for them
expect soo many cuddles, movie marathons and baking/cooking sessions, gustav loves to cook and bake with you, the playlist on in the background that the two of you curated for one another simply enjoying each other’s company is enough for the both of you
on the other hand, if you guys wanted to step out of the comfort zone to go outside on a date, expect to play rock paper scissors to see who has to talk to someone to either order food or request a table at a restaurant
you and gustav can also have one on one sessions with each other deep conversing, talking about anything and everything
can immediately notice when you’re uncomfortable or feeling way too shy or nervous in situations
will either step up, say something, or simply bring you somewhere else where it’s now just the two of you
if you tell and express to him how you feel, will fully listen to you, holding your hands together caressing them
“i understand.. we can either leave, or if not, you can sit next to me! i’m right here with you.
georg
is the biggest shit ever
even more than tom, loves to tease you, you can find him tapping your shoulder and running away leaving you confused or whenever you compliment or tell him you love him will make you repeat it loud and clear
but if it comes to that case, will have to beat the shit out of someone if they make a comment about how shy or quiet you are
not much of a talker, but when he does find himself talking a lot more than you in conversations always asks what you think and what your opinion on it is
does it solely just to hear you speak because he loves your voice and doesn’t get to hear it enough ugh y/n what’s wrong w u??
expect him to rest his arm on your shoulder, head on chin, and bear hugs, he thinks that just because you’re quiet he treats you as if you were someone smaller than him
but he this is just how he publicly shows how in love with you he is
constantly compliments you on how you look, the outfits you wear, how good you are at things vice versa nd that
but you finally snap back at him and compliment him even further and woah honey you have him in a chokehold rn
“fuck, i didn’t expect you to say that, can you say it again? please? i wanna’ hear it one more time..”

The day was about to end as the sunset blessed the sky with its beautiful amber rays. The patio was slowly becoming crowded as more people finished work by now, but Leon wasn’t bothered. He took a sip from his cocktail and watched the sunset, lost in his own thoughts.
Even if it’s been a week with no calls from work, he still waits for the familiar ringtone to disturb his peace. He brings one arm to his bicep and gently brushes his fingers over a certain spot. The pain was gone. All the bruises healed from his last mission.
“You alright?” You asked, seeing as he might not be here.
“Hmm? Yeah, I’m fine. It’s just... everything is calm and peaceful, you know.”
“And I take it you’re not used to it.”
“Nope. Usually, I would’ve been hit by this table by now instead of having dinner at it. Some big, scary monster would’ve chased after me, and so on.”
“Hmmm, I guess that’s true. If you want, I can chase you around with this knife and give you some adrenaline if you miss it.”
Leon chuckled and shook his head.
“No, it’s alright. It’s not that I miss the adrenaline, it’s the fact that I keep expecting something bad to happen any time now.”
"Well, stop it. Hunnigan was very clear when she told you that no one would bother you in your free time. There are plenty of agents; they can manage.”
“I guess you’re right.”
He took your hand in his and squeezed gently while smiling at you. The gentle breeze moved your hair from side to side slowly and delicately. Leon stared at you for a few seconds, admiring how beautiful you looked in that golden light that highlighted your beautiful features.
“One thing I’ll never get tired of is having such great company.” He said it softly while looking at you. He took another sip from his cocktail.
You smiled and looked away for a few seconds, but you didn’t move your hand. The way he was looking and talking with you made you blush.
“What?” He said this as his big thumb began to caress your skin. “I mean it.”
“I know; I enjoy your company too. It’s just that such moments like this with you are rare, and when they finally happen, it feels surreal.”
“I know… Don’t worry, I promise I’ll try to make them happen more often.”
A full moon replaced the sun, and stars filled the sky. You and Leon went for a walk after the meal you just had. The breeze was still gentle, but the air was colder, so Leon gave you his jacket since you forgot yours home. You were holding hands as you walked on the crowded boulevard.
“Wanna get yourself something nice?” He asked as you passed in front of some stores.
“Hmm, no. Maybe later.”
Leon spoiled you this week a lot. He bought you various gifts, took you to expensive restaurants, and made sure that the hotel where you were staying was one of the top. You paid too for some meals and tickets to tourist attractions, but it was mostly him to use the wallet. Despite telling him there was no need for such treatment, he ignored you and continued to pay.
He also went everywhere you wanted to go. He didn’t say “no” once during your vacation. He just enjoyed your presence, and as long as you were happy, he was happy too.
"Are you sure you’re not cold?”
"Yeah, I’m fine; don’t worry about me.” He chuckled as he wrapped an arm around your shoulders to pull you closer to him. Then he pressed a kiss on your head.
“You’re such a gentleman, Leon.”
Under the soft glow of the moonlight, the streets were bathed in a gentle silver light. Both of you found a quiet corner of the city and allowed yourselves to be caught in the magic of the night. The distant hum of traffic and the occasional city sounds provided a subtle backdrop to the moment.
Leon couldn’t take his eyes off you, smiling the entire time like someone who had experienced love for the first time.
The air between you became charged with an unspoken connection. Leon looked deep into your eyes as he wrapped his arm around your waist.
The streetlights cast a warm halo around you, creating an intimate space in the midst of the urban chaos. The night held a certain stillness, as if time itself had slowed to allow you to savour your romance.
You placed your hands over his shoulder, then went behind his neck as you leaned forward, closing the gap between your bodies.
The anticipation hung in the air, a delicate dance of desire. Leon finally closed the remaining space, and your lips met in a tender, long-awaited kiss. With closed eyes, you let your bodies be consumed by the intense lust that this magical moment brought.
The moon dispersed its bright light as if it were aware of this gentle moment, subtly urging its sister stars to gather and cast their shine in the beautiful moment that was unfolding beneath them.
Your mouths melted together in a union of passion. Neither of you felt like pulling out any time soon. Leon’s hands began to gently caress your waist, shifting the fabric of your shirt as they moved up and down. Your hands began to play with his hair, running it between your delicate fingers.
“Leon…” you said in a needy voice.
“Yes?”
“I think we should go back to the hotel…”
With a sigh, Leon pulled away. A smile shortly appeared on his lips as he cupped your face with his hands.
“I think you’re right.”
He kissed your lips one more time and grabbed your hand, guiding you back to the hotel through the crowded street.
