el sueño de una niña (2) II Jenni Hermoso x Reader
part 1 | masterlist | word count: 1803
summary: Jenni promised reader's daughter Mila to come to her first football match, can she keep her promise despite being away with the Spanish national team.
author's note: dear readers, you asked for a part 2 and here it's, please enjoy. Let us know your thoughts on the oneshot.đđ€
âBut you promised to comeâŠâ, Mila whined through the phone, her voice on the verge of cracking. The disappointment in the little girls voice weighed heavy on Jennis heart.
She winced as she replied: âI know, I know.â
âItâs my first important gameâŠâ, Mila complained.
Jenni sighed. She was the one who had helped Mila find a football team in her age class, the one who had bought her first pair of cleats and also the one who had promised her support for her first game. Only, she had forgotten that she would be away with the national team at the time of Milas first game.
âI'll find a way to be there, Mila.â, Jenni promised determinedly. She didnât know how yet but there was no way she would disappoint her.
Mila seemed a bit more calm at the end of their call but at the same time the conversation had attracted the interest of Jennis spanish team mates.
âMila has a game?â, Alexia asked, her eyebrows moved towards her hairline with curiosity.
Jenni threw her phone on her hotelbed with frustration: âYes, itâs her first one. She asked me to come weeks ago.â
Irene who leaned in the doorframe smiled to herself: âDo you all remember your first games?â
âWho doesnât?â, Alexia replied with a grin.
âWe all do.â, Jenni agreed. She knew from experience how formative first games could be.
Aitana stood there, frowning at Jenni like her brain was working at full speed: âBut how do you get to her game when youâre here with us right now?â
The hotelroom went quiet as everyone seemed to search for a solution to help Jenni out.
âEasy, fake an injury.â, Mariona blurted out.
Four pairs of eyes stared at her. The disbelief about her suggestion was palpable inside the room.
Jennis face suddenly lit up as she got up from her bed: âDuring training later? Mario, youâre a genius!â
Excitedly, the darkhaired player pressed a grateful kiss to Marionas cheek and picked her up to whirl her around.
âJenni!â, she protested, her cheeks slightly reddened.
âSorry!â, Jenni laughed and finally let Mariona back down.
âDonât tell anyone that I had anything to do with it.â, Mariona pleaded.
Jenni winked at her nonchalantly: âOh, donât worry, Darling. Iâd not tell a soul.â
âGood.â
A few hours later, Jenni went down just as planned during a training drill. She held her knee and screamed in pain. The other players crowded around her, faking worried looks. Alexias eyebrows knotted together, indicating that Jenni was definitely overdoing it.
âJennifer? Are you alright?â, their coach asked, crouching down to Jenni.
âNo.â, the football player moaned.
âThe physio should take a look at it.â, Alexia interrupted, trying to steer the conversation into the right direction.
Jenni nodded quickly: âYes, just to be sure. That really didnât feel good.â
âOkay.â, Montse agreed as she watched her get up and limp off towards the physios.
A short time later, the physiotherapist Pilar realised with a sour face. âYouâre fine, Jennifer.â
âListen I know Iâm fine but thereâs a game tonight Iâve to attend. Itâs a little girlâs first football match.â, Jenni pleaded.
She shook her head in disbelief. âYou want me to lie and say itâs bad enough that youâve to leave?â
âNot to leave necessarily only to take a break until tomorrow. Please.â, Jenni looked at her with big eyes.
âExcuse me, you want me to compromise my integrity.â, Pilar protested.
âItâs for a good cause.â, the striker gave her the most charming smile in the hope it would work on the physio like it did on all the women before. Nowadays, the specific grin was usually reserved for Mila and you. But this was an emergency.
âYou owe me, Hermoso.â, she warned her.
âI know, you can count on me.â, Jenni reassured the physio.
âGo.â, Pilar replied in an impatient tone.
âThank you!â, the football player promptly jumped off the lounger throwing kisses at her.
âUgh.â, the physio waved it off, pretending to be disgusted by it.
In awe you watched your daughter warm up with the teammates who became her friends. Mila and you were heartbroken that your friend hadn't come yet despite her promise, which she was supposedly so keen to keep.
The referee started the game thatâs why you didnât hear the person coming who put her arms around your waist with a cheeky smile on her lips. A loud gasp escaped your mouth as you turned around to see who dared to touch you like that.
âJenni?!â, you exclaimed surprised, glancing at the face you came to love so much over the past year.
âHey.â, the Spanish woman greeted you grinning.
âYou really made it to the game.â, you whispered deeply impressed by her dedication.
âI told you Iâd. I never break a promise.â, Jenni answered in a serious tone.
âTrue, itâs been twelve months, and you never ran away.â, you noted.
âCanât believe you still think I would.â, she remarked hurt.
âNo, I trust you.â, you disagreed whole-heartedly, cupping her cheeks with your hands before exchanging a gentle kiss with the striker. For one moment the pitch and the game faded into the background.
âI think I deserve that trust by now.â, Jenni stated earnestly, pressing a kiss to your hand before releasing you fully.
âYou do.â, you responded. Both of you followed the game proudly. The Spanish national team player was the one who cheered and supported the girls the loudest.
A bright smile lit up Milaâs face during a short break once she realized that Jenni did came to the game to see her play. Shily your daughter waved at her which the striker returned with her hands formed to a heart. When the game was on again Mila even scored her first goal.
âThere she comes! Hi Mila.â, Jenni kneed down to hug the small girl after the match officially ended.
Milas face split into a big grin once she spotted Jenni standing next to you. She immediately broke into a run and jumped into Jennis arms. âJenni, you made it!â
âOf course I did. I promised you.â, Jenni laughed as she spun the little girl around before setting her back down on the grass.
Mila cocked her head: âHave you seen me play? You looked distracted by looking at Mami.â
You failed at stifling your laughter while your girlfriend replied: âHey! Of course I watched you play.â
âUhu, sure.â, Mila nodded, her little face filled with sass.
Jenni raised her eyebrow at her with a grin: âExcuse me? I came all the way from my national team camp to watch you play.â
The tiny football playersâ eyes widened in awe: âHow did you do that?â
âMagic.â, Jenni explained, waving her hands through the air as if she was casting some spells.
âWow.â
âAll for you.â, she winked at your daughter.
âThank you, Jenni.â, Mila beamed and pressed yourself against the football player for another hug.
Jenni kneeled down to her: âYou did so well today. Were you nervous?â
Mila nodded hesitantly: âYes but Mami said she believes in me.â
âWe both believed in you. Donât worry, the nervousness gets better after a few games.â
âIt does? Also, told coach that youâre a good coach too.â, Mila said and pointed in the direction of woman your age who watched you with raised eyebrows.
You shot her a smile while Jenni laughed: âOh god.â
âShe didnât like to hear that.â, Mila confirmed what you both could read from the face of her coach already.
Jenni bit her lip to stop herself from laughing: âI bet so.â
âMila, are you hungry?â, you quickly changed the topic, impatient to leave the football pitch and the watchful eyes of the youth coach.
âYes!â
You turned to your girlfriend: âWhat about you, Jenni?â
âI think I have time to take my girls out for food.â, she winked.
âPerfect.â, you smiled.
Jenni held out her hand for Mila. You took the other hand of your daughter. âLetâs go.â
âPlease, Iâm starving.â, Mila complained which caused all three of you to break into laughter again.
Jenni ruffled through the young girls hair: âDonât worry, you will get some food to fuel your body after such a long game.â
You found yourself at a restaurant shortly after. Mila was busy digging into her chicken tenders and you watched Jenni pick at her salad.
But there was something that your girlfriend had said earlier that you couldnât get out of your head. You leaned forward, your chin resting on your hand and watched Jenni curiously: âSo⊠how did you get out of the Spain camp?â
Chewing on a tomato, Jenni shook her head: âCanât tell you that.â
âItâs top secret, huh?â, you smirked.
âYes, itâs between me, the girls and our physio.â, she winked conspiratorially.
The small comment of the striker sparked Milaâs curiosity as well. âWas it dangerous?â
âA little bit.â, Jenni admitted sounding amused.
âWoah, thatâs so cool.â, your daughter marvelled.
âMila!â, you clicked your tongue disapprovingly.
âBut mami you must admit itâs true.â, Mila defended herself.
Swiftly you changed the topic, looking into your girlfriendâs eyes. âWhen do you have to go back?â
âTonight, but I can take Mila to bed before that.â, Jenni answered smiling.
âReally?â, your child asked beaming with delight.
âReally.â, the footballer confirmed mirroring her excitement.
âGood.â, Mila nodded satisfied.
The dinner with three had gone by in a blink.
In an animated tone Jenni read out loud to your daughter in the childâs bedroom. It was a story for boys and girls featuring the life story of Marta. In between you could hear Milaâs lively comments she exchanged with your girlfriend until there was only the silence of the night.
âSheâs sleeping?â, you questioned as Jenni closed the door behind her.
âYes.â, she affirmed calmly.
âWonderful.â, you muttered gleefully. Eye to eye, you noticed a desire and lust in the way the striker looked at you. A blush crept upon your cheeks feeling the intensity of her stare. âWhat? Why are looking at me like that Jennifer?â
âNo reason?â, she murmured innocently.
âNo, tell me.â, you demanded in the knowledge that your lover was lying. Â
âWell, Iâve some more time before Iâve to leave.â, she began mischievously. Â
âYou mean long enough to..?â
âYes.â
âWe shouldnât waste more time donât you agree?â, you glanced at her expectantly.
With a playful expression Jenni took your hand to guide you to your shared bedroom, leaving no doubt that she was fully in line with what just passed your lips.
Everything started with a promise and ended with another one.
After you two made love together Jenni promised that you three would be a forever thing. Something like the three musketeers against a manâs world which despite all itâs harshness would never get you down.

Healing (Alexia Putellas x reader)
A/N: This took me a lot longer to finish than I hoped but itâs done. Grab a drink and get comfy because itâs a long one, in fact I think itâs my longest fic to date.
The world had its questions and you were well aware of the headlines.
Y/N Y/L/N quits football.
Where is Y/N Y/L/N? Here's what we know.
The best in the world has vanished.
If you find Y/N tell her Sarina is looking for her.
The last twelve months had been the hardest in your life. You thought you could prepare for it, that it would easier because you knew it was coming but that wasn't the case. The day it happened was the day your heart broke and as you buried her you knew you were burying part of yourself too.
You left the world speculating as to why you didn't extend your contract with Lyon, why you never signed for another club and more importantly people were wondering where you had disappeared to.
Both your club and country team mates knew about your personal life and the tragedy that happened shortly after the euros.Â
You missed football, of course you did, but you also needed to take time away to process what had happened. A return date was never set but then the world cup happened. You watched your team mates cry after losing to Spain and you couldn't help but feel partially responsible. The game might have ended differently if you had played.
A decision had been made. It was time to return to the pitch. You had offers before and after the euros. The only question is what teams would still want you?Â
The sun was setting in Barcelona as the team finished up a late training session. Most of the players stayed behind to take advantage of the free food given they knew once they got home they wouldn't have the energy to cook themselves.
âLucy your phone is ringingâ Ona shouts over to where the English defender is filling her plate.Â
âWho is it?â Lucy replies.Â
Onaâs face floods with guilt. Almost as if she shouldnât be looking at the phone. This sparks interest of those around her but no one more than Keira who sees the name on the screen.Â
âY/Nâ Lucy all but ran back to table after hearing Keira say your name âis everything ok? Where are you? Yes Iâm with Lucy. Before I hand you over promise me that youâre ok? GoodâÂ
Keira hands over the phone and watches Lucyâs face as she tries to figure out why you called and what you are talking about.Â
âYes there are people around me. Ok, Iâll askâÂ
When you hang up the phone Lucy does as you ask or at least she makes the first step.Â
âAlexiaâ Lucy walks around to where the captain is sat with Mapi and Ingrid âWho would I talk about signing a new player?â
âItâs not our job to recruit players but if you know something that might help the club then tell me and I will askâ Alexia wasnât stupid. She heard your name and now Lucy was asking this. It wasnât a coincidence.Â
âI canât. This is a sensitive subjectâÂ
âVale. Talk to Jona and if he thinks the player is right for the club then he can set up a meetingâÂ
Alexia left the training facility that night thinking of you. You were at the peak of your career, many people considered you the best in the world and if she is being honest she thought you would win the Balon dâOr, not her. That night Alexia watched your highlights for hours, even the ones in the games against her. You really were a once in a generation player which makes it that much harder for Alexia to understand why you walked off the pitch at Wembley and hadnât been seen on one since.Â
The next day at training the energy felt different. Lucy and Keira had a sense of happiness that their team mates hadnât seen before. They would gather around Lucyâs phone but then hide it when somebody came close to them.Â
Jona came walking into the gym with Xavi Puig right behind him and called over both Keira and Lucy. A couple of players watch the conversation unfold and tried their hardest to read their lips.
âIngrid, what are they saying?â Mapi nudges her girlfriend.
âTheyâre talking about Y/N Y/L/Nâ Alexia was stretching on the floor playing no part in the eavesdropping.
âHow do you know?â Ingrid asks her.
âShe called Lucy yesterday and then Lucy talked to me about the club signing a new player. I canât know for sure but thatâs what I think is going onâ
A couple of days later you landed in Barcelona, greeted by the warm weather and your two England team mates who kept a low key appearance in the arrivals hall. You stop when you are a meter away them. You didnât know what to do, you hadnât seen them in almost a year.Â
âCome hereâ Lucy throws her arms around you followed by Keira.
âWeâre so happy to see you Y/N. We really have missed youâÂ
You remain quiet as you walk to the car. Both of them fill you in on what the team is like and you make sure to remind them that you havenât officially signed yet.
âJona mentioned that. You want a trial training session?â
âItâs the right thing to doâ you didnât want any special treatment. You wanted to earn the right to play for the club and not just be handed the contract.
âYou could have not played football for 5 years and still run rings round all of usâ Lucy knows you the most having played with her at both club and country. You were too humble in her eyes so she took it upon herself to remind you of your greatness from time to time.
âI never said I havenât played football. That has been the thing to get me through the past 10 monthsâ you didnât mean to be a downer, in fact you didnât know what you were saying until it was too late.
âHow are you doing?â Keira asks from the front seat and you see Lucy eyeing you up in rear view mirror.
âSome days are harder than others and no day has been easy. She would be happy that Iâm here though. She always said that if I didnât go back to England then sheâd want us to come hereâ
You couldnât bring yourself to say her name.Â
âShe always did hate the french wintersâ Lucy laughs at the memories she shared with your wife.
Your mind goes back to just a couple of years ago. Lyon were playing at home and the weather was awful. You saw Natalia in the crowd shivering but still she cheered you on, she always was your biggest fan. Come rain or shine, your girl was in the audience. You hated the thought of playing without her being in the crowd but you also knew she wouldnât want to give up your career.
âY/Nâ Keira gently nudged your knee. It was obvious that you were taking a trip down memory lane and she didnât want to scare you.
âHuhâ you quickly wiped away a tear âOh weâre hereâ you grabbed your backpack and jumped out of the car leaving them in the front not knowing what to do.
âLetâs leave her be. She knows we are here and will come to us when sheâs readyâ
You were in awe as you walked the halls of Joan Camper. The things the team has achieved were that of greatness. It was a club that created legacys and you found yourself feeling something that you hadnât in a long time; excitement.
Lucy and Keira lead you to the locker room just as they were instructed to. The rest of the team were already out of the field which was part of the plan. There hanging in a corner locker was a training kit for you. You didnât expect it and you definitely didnât expect to have been given your number.
âYou did this?â You ask the pair.
âSalma did. The team knows you called Lucy and when Salma heard to locker room rumours of you joining she insisted. Between us she is a big fan of yours, bigger than Luceâ
âNot possibleâ the defender joked.
The boots were fastened and you were ready, well almost ready. There was one thing you wasnât prepared for. You looked down at your necklace. It was a simple gold chain that held two rings: yours and Taliaâs.
âI canât do itâ you slumped down in defeat and bury your face in your hands.
âHeyâ Lucy crouches down in front of you âthey let us wear jewellery for training, you can keep them onâ
You walked out onto the field and all eyes fell on you. You felt like a spectacle and you hated the attention. They didnât know the current version of you, they had only met the old Y/N so you channel her and introduce yourself to them during the next drinks break.
âI know some of us have met as opponents but this is different. Iâm Y/N, itâs a pleasure to meet you all, I hope I can keep upâ you make a joke hoping to avoid the elephant in the room.
âWeâll see about that. Iâm Alexiaâ She is the first person to you.
âLovely to meet you AlexiaâÂ
Itâs hard to explain the feeling when youâre playing football. Itâs as if you mind switches off whilst also been completely focused. It take a few attempts to get into the rhythm that is Barcelona football but you catch on quickly. It comes as no shock to the rest of the team that you play in complete sync with Lucy and Keira. The two of them even stay back at the end to work with you on some movements that you werenât pleased with.
Some players go shower but a few stay behind, albeit out of sight, and watch you.Â
âShe has a giftâ Alexia says to nobody in particular.
âNobody has seen her in over a year and this is how she is playing. Look, she is running rings around them. How is that possible?â Patri adds.
âDoes anybody know where she was?â Pina asks the small group.
âNo but I could ask Ingrid or Caro to ask Ada. They are best friends and surely you would tell your best friend where you are goingâ Mapi forms a plan in her head, one that she will soon find out to be a bad idea.
âDo itâ Alexia tells the defender âWe are a family here and if she joins us then we have a right to know where she has beenâ
When Barcelona posted a photo of you signing a contract on their socials the world went crazy. The media were relentless and the fans were quick to show their support for you even though some were skeptical about your sudden reappearance and new team.Â
You ignored them for the most part as they had no idea what had happened. You fit into the team almost right away and was enjoying every game with Barcelona. You scored on your debut and had been involved in a goal every game since. Months had passed and much to your surprise you had only been asked about the missing year once or twice.Â
Caro refused to ask Ada about you and Ingrid only did when her girlfriend became obsessed with finding out the truth. Adaâs answer was simple âI wonât tell you and if she doesnât want you to know then you should respect her wishesâ.
You remained a mystery though and for the most part the team seemed to forget about your missing year.Â
When the second international window came that is when things changed and you felt like you made a friend. Mapi still wasnât representing her country so she reached out and asked if you wanted to meet up for a coffee.Â
Anybody could easily be intimidated by the blonde but you liked her. She had this energy that made you know accepting her invite was a no brainer. That and you had questions of your own.Â
âHow did you know?â
Mapi places down a a small coffee in a glass; a cortado.Â
âI asked Keira what you orderedâ
A comfortable silence took over as the two of you sipped on your coffees. You found it funny the way Mapi looked at you then her coffee and back to you again. You recognised the signs; you were making her nervous. Why though you had no idea.
You decide to make the first move and you get straight to the point much to the defenderâs surprise.
âI spoke with Adaâ
This got her attention. You had your suspicions but the look on her face confirmed it. Still, she played along.
âThatâs nice. Youâre very close, no?â Mapi tried her best to look innocent but you werenât having any of it and the look on your face told her that.
âShe had an interesting conversation with Ingrid. Do you happen to know anything about this?â
She did. You know she did.Â
âNoâ you got a sheepish look from Mapi and you wondered if she knew how unconvincing she was being.
âI think you did. I think you got Ingrid to ask Ada about meâ
âLo sientoâ
âHereâs the thing I donât understand. I know you all want to know, youâve been whispering about me for months yet not one of you has come to me and asked me directly. You have been going behind my back trying to dig up information about a time that I clearly donât want to talk aboutâ
Mapi dips her head. She truly thought that her and the team were been careful but obviously not.Â
âMaria, I want you to put yourself in my shoes. Would you want to talk about it with strangers when you barely talk to your best friends about it?â
The defender thinks about it for a moment. You had barely left Lucy and Keiraâs side but she hadnât really heard you talking, you were always listening to what they were saying and replying when necessary.
âIt was bad wasnât it?â She asks.Â
âThe worse year of my lifeâ you confess and you can your throat close at the thought of the months in question.
âWe are in jail?âÂ
You cannot help but chuckle at her words.
âNo, I was not in jailâ
âDid you kill somebody?â
âNo, I did not kill anybodyâ
âSo no crimes were committed?â
âIs that what you have all come up with? That I broke the law?âÂ
âMost of us, yes. Aitana thinkâs you were in the hospital because you were sickâ
Her response came at the worst time possible. You spit your coffee out when you hear the midfielderâs suspicion.Â
Technically she was right. You were in the hospital but you werenât in the hospital.
âI wasnât sickâÂ
âClearly. Look at you, youâre huge. I mean you are big. No, you are strongâ
âCalm down Mapi, I know what you mean. Thank youâÂ
The two of you stay in the cafe for another hour. You take this time just the two of you getting to know one another. You ask Mapi about her tattoos and she learnâs you have a few of your own which are hidden on your back. When she asks for their meaning you promise you will tell her the stories another time.Â
You both walk to the metro station and by coincidence you end up of the same train. You get off before her and just before the door opens, Mapi grabs your hand.
âIâll get them to stop. You donât owe us an explanation, Y/NâÂ
âThank you MariaâÂ
Youâre not sure what the tattooed defender said but the whispers stopped or so you thought. They stopped whispering in front of you but little did you know the speculations were still going on behind your back. It is early in December when things come to a head and you snapped.Â
âWhat do you mean she is staying Spain?â Alexia asked Salma.Â
âThat she is staying her in Barcelona. She said she might go to Valencia for a few days but thatâs itâ the forward wasnât sure what to say or if she should have said anything at all.
âAnd you donât think that is strange? This is woman who used to love England. The fans called her Queen of England, por dios. How can she be apart of this team if we know nothing about her. She is lying to usâ Alexia ranted on and who knew how much longer she would have continued if not for Lucy interrupting her.
âAlexia, that is enough!â Lucy slams her fist on the locker before turning to her captain âShe has come to this team and done nothing but good. She plays well for us and gives it her all on the pitch. Off it she makes the effort and yes sometimes she says no to things but isnât that her right? You stand there as our captain but look at you, youâre nothing but a bully. I am ashamed to say iâm your team mate right now. That girl has been through hell these past couple of years and since coming here all you keep doing is reminding her of what has happened. You are obsessed with her. Look around, no one else is digging for information. No one is making her uncomfortable on a daily basisâ
âShe is lying to us. She wonât tell us where she was for over a year. She is hiding something and that isnât fair on usâ Alexia tried to defend her actions.
âIsnât fair? Are you really that self centred? You have no right to talk about what is and is not fair. I donât care if you are my captain, I wonât stand by you while you treat my best friend like she has done something wrong. You, Alexia, are a ââ
âLucyâ The whole locker room turns upon hearing your voice âI have given up on Alexia, itâs time you do tooâ
âNo! I wonât let her talk about you that way. You donât deserve thisâ
âNo I donât but ââ
âY/Nâ Lucy begs you to let her fight you case.
âWalk away LucyâÂ
A stare down takes place between you and Lucy. A few seconds later the defender grabs her stuff and leaves the room. To everyone else you are calm and collected but Keira recognises the look in your eye, you are furious.
âI want everyone to listen to me and listen good. My past is none of your business. To those who have let the obsession go, thank you. To those that havenâtâ you look Alexia dead in the eye âI want nothing to do with you. I will remain civil on the pitch. Other than that I ask you to stay away from me. Thatâs if you can respect my wishes. I know it has been hard so farâ
You quietly gather your things and try to ignore the multiple sets of eyes on you. With each second you can feel your chest getting tighter and you know it is only a matter second before you will no longer be able to control your breathing. You just needed to get out of there, away from prying eyes.
The hallway is the furthest you get. Your mind was filled of flashbacks, the moments that you tried so hard to bury. The past was not a pretty place, not the last year, but you know that it was only a matter of time before it came crashing down on you.Â
âY/N, are you ok?â Mapi and Ingrid are by your side, clearly the couple had left just after you.
âNatalia, she, sheâÂ
Ingrid and Mapi shared a look, who was Natalia? They had never heard you mention a Natalia before. Both of them didnât know what to do. Whilst you had become friends with the pair, they didnât know you well enough to cope with this moment.Â
Luckily for them Keira appears out of nowhere. The English woman clearly equipped with what to do.
âGet Lucy, now!â She whisper shouted and Ingrid goes running hoping to catch the defender before she leaves.
âKeiraâNataliaâ
âI know, I know. We can talk about her later if you want. Right now, I need to focus on me. Can you do that?âÂ
You nod your head as tears flow down your cheeks.Â
âWhat happened?â Lucy rushes over to you.
âWe found her on the floor. She kept talking about NataliaâÂ
âShe told you?â Lucy asks shocked. She knew you wasnât ready to tell them team but in a state of panic you might be let it slip.
âNo. She only said her nameâ Mapi says. She couldnât take her eyes off you. This wasnât a panic attack, no she had seen one of those before. This was something much more intense.
A few minutes pass and Keira manages to keep your breathing under control but youâre still not ready to move. Lucy, Mapi and Ingrid stay close making sure to tell anyone who passes to keep moving.
âWhat is going on?â Alexia asks with concern, a concern that doesnât reach Lucy in fact her asking is the worst thing she could have done.
âGet away from herâ Lucy is up on her feet and pushing Alexia backwards. She would has fallen to the floor if not for the wall behind her âThis is all your fault. You see this, you see her, this is what you have done to herâ
âLucyâ you reach up and take her hand. The defender used her strength to pull you up.Â
You, Lucy, Keira, Mapi and Ingrid walk towards the exit of the stadium.
âY/Nâ Alexiaâs voice is soft and it is only now that she realises she might have taken things too far.
You turn around to face the Catalonian. For the first time since arriving you make no effort to hide the pain you have felt on a daily basis.
âI want nothing to do with you Alexiaâ
A week had passed and Alexia started to worry about you more so than she wanted to let on. Lucy and Keira were visibly worried about you and kept an eye on you at all times. She was confused at how things got this bad. Yes, she knew that maybe things had been taken too far but you didnât show rage, your energy radiated nothing. You were numb. The Barcelona captain had no idea how to make things right with you.
You wore a smile on your face in front of the cameras and fans but behind closed doors itâs liked you switched your emotions off. Alexia asked Mapi about you but it seemed that even her closest friend was on your side. The zaragozian and her girlfriend had become close with you since the incident and Alexia didnât understand why.
One night she found herself knocking on Mapiâs door hoping to find out how things got so bad.
When the captain was let in there is an evident scowl on Ingridâs face which Alexia did not expect. The Norwegian excuses herself stating that she needed to go to the supermarket.
âMentirosoâ Alexia says to herself.
âWatch it Alexia. She has her reasonsâ Mapi jumped to her girlfriendâs defence.
Mapi leads Alexia over to the kitchen table and gets a glass of water for the two of them.
âYouâre here about Y/N, arenât you?â her captain nods âI donât know what to tell you. What happened in the locker room was bad Ale. We didnât leave the stadium when you thought we did. Y/N used everything in her to make sure Lucy didnât do something she would regret. I donât know what happened during those months but whatever we think it is, itâs so much worse. I shouldnât be telling you this but she kept mentioning Natalia, I donât know who that is but I think something happened to herâ
Alexia thought she felt guilty about the way things went down with the two of you but that failed in comparison to how she was feeling now. To think that you were grieving someone and her questions were it worse for you, well it made her feel ashamed.Â
She knew that she hadnât been the most welcoming. Yes, you and her got a long on the pitch and yes, you were ok at training but she hadnât made the effort she should have to make you feel at home in Barcelona.
âI donât know how to fix it Mapi. You know I like her, I think she is amazingââ
âYou were her biggest fanâ the blonde teased
âBut what if Iâve ruined any chance for being friends with her? What if what Iâve done is undoable?â Alexia ignores Mapi comment seen as though she knows she cannot deny it.
Mapi was at a loss for words. She always has had her friendâs back but there was something about you which made her want to protect you and Alexia was someone that you needed protection from.
âYou need to give her space Alexia. This week alone I have seen you walk towards her then walk away at least 6 times. Y/N even asked me why you were doing it. Youâre making the girl feel uncomfortableâÂ
Alexia mentally scolded herself for her behaviour which in her defence she did not think anyone noticed.Â
âSo space?â Alexia asks.
âSpaceâ Mapi confirmed.
Alexia found it hard at first because she wanted nothing more than to make things right with you but she did as suggested, she gave you space. She saw you start to come out of your shell a bit more as December rolled on. The day game before the Christmas break you were playing in Madrid and that is when Alexia heard you discussing your winter plans with Keira.
âKeira, thatâs a sweet offer but Iâm sure. Iâm going to stay in Barcelona, it is my home nowâ
The Catalonian took a little comfort in knowing you had grown the love her city despite the hostile behaviour.
âY/N, itâs Christmas. She would want you to be home for thatâ your friend asked.
âI donât know if I can handle going back for Christmas. It would hurt too muchâ
It felt wrong for Alexia to eavesdrop on your conversation so she leaves out of respect.
âShe wouldnât want you to avoid England. The two of you spent years in France and both of you said coming home to England was your favourite thing to doâ
âKeira, stop. It was our favourite thing. There is no more our, no us. Itâs just meâ
Keira could see your hands shaking. This is the first sign of your panic attack so she drops the subject. She does suggest you going away with them for new years and you said you would as long as it isnât in the UK or France.Â
The team had one last recovery session before the winter break and itâs safe to say when it was done everyone was more than happy to go home. You wished everyone a Merry Christmas and without knowing it, Alexia is included.
âFeliz Navidad Alexia, por tu y tu familiaâÂ
âGracias Y/NâÂ
To Alexia this was a gift in itself. Maybe you were opening up to idea of forgiving her. After that you quickly grab your stuff and run off to where Ingrid was waiting for you.
After that interaction, Alexia couldnât stop thinking about you. She also thought she was hallucinating when she saw your name appear on her phone screen. In the rush of leaving the training facility you picked up the wrong bag, only realising when got home a few hours later and your shirt had an 11 on instead of a 7. You texted Alexia asking if you could meet up to get your stuff back. Alexia, at that point was already at her motherâs house so she sent you that address and told her mum that you were coming over.
You tried to ease your nervous as you drove to your captainâs motherâs house. It was going to be awkward, this much you knew but regardless of the place you and Alexia were in, you wanted to make a good impression on her family.Â
The knock was gentle as you stop on the door step.
âY/N, hola. Adelanteâ
You didnât know that word meant but you put two and two together and guessing in meant come in so that is what you did. Eli leads you to the living room after telling Alba to go get her sister. Eli headed back into the kitchen and left you in the living room. You didnât want to take a seat, it wasnât that kind of visit so you looked around and a wall of photos gains your attention.
Alexia couldnât have been more than 7 years old. She was adorable. Next to her stood her younger sister and behind her, her parents. You didnât recognise the man so you assume Alexiaâs father works away a lot as you have never seen him at a game.
âThatâs Jaume, Alexia and Albaâs fatherâ Your cheeks flush in embarrassment at being caught stooping.
âAnd your husbandâ you turn to face the woman âI havenât seen him around, does he work in a different city?â
âJaume passed away a little over ten years agoâÂ
She is a widow, like you. That is the first thing you thought. In that moment you had so many questions for her but this is a woman you had only just met. Itâs not exactly the small talk she would be expecting. The two of you go quiet and you guess she is thinking about her lost love, just as you are thinking about yours.
Alexia comes downstairs, your bag in hand but stops at the door was upon seeing you in conversation with her mother. Alba nudges her forward but she doesnât move. The two of them watch you.
âDoes it ever get easier?â The question was out of your mouth before you could stop it.
The two sisters share a look. They had no idea what you were talking about and by their motherâs response, she didnât either.
âQue?â As expected, the question catches Eli off guard.
âLiving without the person who promised you foreverâ you turn to face the older woman with tears falling down your cheek.
âOh Querida, come hereâÂ
You feel comfort in her arms and for a brief few seconds you forget that she is a stranger. In this moment she is someone who understands your pain and that is more than enough for you. When you pull away you see Alexia and Alba, you feel extremely exposed.
âHi. You must be Albaâ you wipe the last of your tears and extend your hand towards the younger Putellas.
She swats away your hand and pulls you into a hug.
âSo formalâ Alba laughs âyouâre even hotter in personâÂ
âAlba!â Both Eli and Alexia scold her.
âWhat? Iâm being honestâÂ
âThank you, I think. Is that mine?â You point the bad Alexia is holding.
âYes. Sorry for the mix upâÂ
âNo, no. It was my fault. I was running late for dinner with Ingrid. I left yours in the hall as I wasnât sure where to put itâ
Alexia stared at you almost as if frozen in place.
âWas I not suppose to do that? I can go get it for youâ
âThis is the most youâve spoken to me since joiningâ Alexia was honest with what she was thinking.
âIt must be the Christmas airâ you laugh a little âspeaking of, you three clearly have plans so I will leave you beâÂ
Eli tries to get you to stay but you canât. The woman knew too much and even though shared the same pain, you knew it was only a matter of time before the pity eyes came. You also didnât know how much the two sisters had heard.
Alexia asked and asked what the you and her mother were talking about but the woman refused to tell. The only answer Alexia got was to be careful with you and that not all is as it seems. It seemed to be enough for Alexia but she wasnât giving up on you, not just yet.
She kept an eye on you over the Christmas break and just as you said you stayed in Barcelona. Alexia all but stalked your Instagram and even went as far as texting you some recommendations. You felt something towards the midfielder and it made you think that you might have been a little harsh on her. You made a mental reminder to speak to her once the break was over.
The first game back was away to Bilbao and it brought you the perfect opportunity to speak to Alexia as the two of you were roomed together. It was late by the time you got there so everyone went straight to their room.Â
âOh Y/N I donât know what happenedâ Alexia says as she swiped the room key.Â
âWhat are you â oh I seeâÂ
There was only one bed, albeit a large double bed.Â
You hadnât shared a bed in almost a year and you wasnât sure if you were ready for it. Now you had to find a way to explain this to Alexia.
âIâll sleep on the floorâ Alexia suggests and even though you werenât ready, you also knew you wasnât going to let her do that.
âAlexia you are one of the most important players on the team. I cannot let you sleep on the floor. Take the bed, Iâll take the floorâ
âY/N, you are important too. You are our highest goal scorer. I am taking the floor, donât argue with your captainâ
She refused to take no for an answer and you hated it. When you came out the shower Alexia was on the floor and it looked awful. It was almost funny and you couldnât help but chuckle.
âDonât say anything. Bedâ Alexia laughed along with you.
The room was dark except from the street lights then peaked through the curtains. Sleep wasnât coming easy to you and by the sounds of tossing and turning, Alexia was struggling too.Â
âAlexia, come sleep in the bedâ The thought of having someone sleep next to you wasnât something you necessarily wanted but Alexia sleeping on the floor wasnât fair.
âI donât want to make you feel uncomfortableâÂ
There was something in her tone. She wasnât talking about sharing the bed with a team mate, she was talking about sharing a bed in general.Â
âShe told youâ Eli had to have told alexia about your conversation.Â
âWho?â Alexia asked even though she knew you were talking about her mother.Â
âYour mother. She told you about what I saidâ
âI asked but she didnât tell me anything. Iâm sorry that something happened to your friendâÂ
You sat up upon hearing her condolences.Â
âMy friend. What are you talking about?âÂ
Alexia, now sat up too, looked at you as if saying you know what Iâm talking about.
âNatalia?âÂ
She said her name. Nobody had said her name. They knew it would cause too much pain.Â
In that moment you are brought back to the last time someone said her name. It was the 5 November 2023 in a hospice not to far from your shared home in London. Natalia was the strongest woman you knew and no one would ever come close to her in your eyes. Yet just after Euros she told you that her time was coming, that the cancer was starting to win. You begged her to fight, you werenât ready to lose her but you knew that you had been on borrowed time for many many years. The last person to say her name was a nurse as your wife took her final breath before she was called home.
âShe was my wifeâ you could feel your nose twitch as a ball of emotion built in your throat. You knew the day was coming when you talked about her but you didnât think it would come in Bilbao with Alexia now sitting at the foot of your bed.
The Catalonian knew she heard you correctly but she still sat in disbelief. She had no idea you were dating anyone let alone you were married. Alexia could do nothing but watch as you bury your head in your hand as your body racks with sobs. She wants to hug you, to hold you and to tell you to let it out but you werenât that close.Â
When you aggressively wipe your eyes you notice Alexia looking prettified and you cannot help but burst of into a fit of giggles.
âIâm going to go get Lucy or Keira or anyone else who isnât meâ your captain panics and makes a bee line for the door. She is stopped in her tracks as your hand grabs her wrist.
âYou donât have toâ
She didnât believe you and that was made obvious as her eyes dart back and forward between you and the door.Â
âIsnât this what you have been wanting? To know why I walked awayâ you pat the side of the bed next to you.
You saw the hesitation is Alexiaâs eyes. In that moment she wanted to respect your boundaries and you appreciated that but for the first time in a while the thought of talking about Natalia didnât make you feel like you would break.Â
Once she sat down you turn to face you and you saw the look many people had given you. She felt sorry for you.Â
âI didnât know you were marriedâÂ
âNot many people did. We never hid anything. If you look youâll see her in a lot of photos, she always supported meâ you get comfy knowing that this is going to be a long conversation âIâm a private person and all I ever wanted to do was protect herâÂ
In that moment Alexia understood for she too was a private person. She knew that she was in the limelight but she still kept herself to herself off the pitch.Â
âHow did sheââ Alexia stopped talking as soon as she realised what she was about to ask âsorry, I shouldnât have said thatâÂ
âLeukemiaâ you closed your eyes, took a deep breath and counted to three âshe first got it when she was six. We used to take the day off school to go to the hospital. She would call me her emotional support friendâ you laugh as you remember the way she made you wear a badge âshe won the battle only for it to come back when she was 16 then again at 28. The third battle was the hardest for her and it was the one she lostâÂ
Alexia caught the way you couldnât look at her whilst you talked about the hardest times of your wifeâs life.Â
âShe sounds like a strong womanâÂ
âOh she was the strongest. She went through so much yet you never would have known it. Natalia had this heart that was big enough to like up the whole world. I wouldnât be where I am today without her. She supported me in the youths teams, was in the stands when I made my Arsenal debut and moved to France with me when I signed for Lyon. She said sheâs followed me everywhere because she knew Iâd be lost with herâÂ
When Alexia sees you laughing, she joins in too.Â
âThings got bad just before the euros. I was so close to withdrawing but she begged me to go. She wanted to see me lift that trophy and I did, I did it for her. I didnât know how bad it was until afterwards and I made the decision to be by her side. We did all the things on her bucket list. A couple of months later she couldnât fight it anymore. Her strength was gone and the light was barely there. I was able to be by her side as she took her last breathâÂ
Alexia didnât stop you as you got off the bed and made your way towards the window. She could tell by the way your hand went straight to your face that you were crying.Â
âYou wanted to know why I walked about?â You turned to face her and in that moment, knowing what she did, Alexia felt guilty. Guilty for reminding you of the loss you had suffered.Â
âI walked away because I didnât feel like I had a purpose. For so many years I played for her. I scored to see a smile on her face and I won my trophies so that I can give her my medals. I couldnât return to Lyon without her and it felt wrong being in EnglandâÂ
âY/N Iâm ââ
âDonât tell me youâre sorry. You didnât kill her, the cancer didâÂ
You hated it when people told you they were sorry for your loss. Why? Why are they sorry? You heard it so many times that it made you numb.Â
Alexia could tell that you were feeling a lot right now. She wanted to be there if you wanted to talk more about Natalia but she also knew the importance of changing the subject when itâs needed.Â
âCan I ask you a question?â She looked at you with a sincere gaze.
âYou can. Is it about NaââÂ
Alexia shakes her head.
âWhy Barcelona?âÂ
It is a question that she had been desperate to know. You have now told her why you werenât ready to go back to Lyon but plenty of teams would have offered you a contract if you announced your return.
âI said it wasnât about her but turns out it was. Talia loved Spain and Barcelona was her favourite place. I honestly thought I would retire at Lyon but she always said that if she could pick a team I play for them she would choose Barcelona. When I decided to come back, it felt right to sign for Barcelona. Also, Lucy and Keira are here. As you have seen, I have depended on them quite a bit and I knew that it wouldnât be easy so having someone who knew made everything easierâ
You could see Alexia processing what you had told her.Â
âIâm happy you donât play for Lyon anymoreâ
âYeah, you might be able to beat them nowâ
Alexia stared you down and you wondered what her next move would be. Turns out you didnât have to wait long because a pillow soon smacked you in the face.
You both burst into laughter when the pillow fight turns competitive.
âWe really should be getting some sleepâ Alexia says as she stands.
You took a second to think.Â
âYou can sleep in the bed Alexia. I wonât freak out you knowâ
âY/N I canât. Not nowâ
âOh stop. Iâm not some fragile little doll that will break if she shares a bed with someone. Now get in bedâÂ
You pull the duvet back and pat the bed. It is only when Alexia gets in that you realise she is on your side and you are on Taliaâs.
âYou know this is my side of the bedâ Alexia says as she gets comfy.
You had your reasons for sleeping on that side. You want to be closest to the door in case someone broke in. You wonder if Alexia has a reason.
âGot to make sure no one comes in and kidnaps you. Buenas noches Y/NâÂ
You fall asleep that night with ease. You no longer feel the weight of keeping your emotions at bay and having Alexia knowing the truth makes you feel at ease around her for the first time since you joined the club.
From that day on things were different between you and Alexia. You found yourself spending more time with her than you did with Lucy and Keira. The two of them found it strange but didnât question it. Whilst the defender was still very much protective over you, she did see a change in her captain which lead to her giving her the benefit of the doubt.Â
Life in Barcelona was finally what you imagined. Even in January the sun was shining and the sky was blue, unlike the weather you have been used to. The pain in your heart was still there but for the first time in a long whilst you felt happy or at least the closest thing to it that you could feel. Alexia has invited you to family dinner which happened after every other home game. Her mother and sister made you feel welcome. You had become rather close with Eli as she would often reach out to talk to you and check in with you. She didnât need to say much, the fact that she could understand was more than enough.Â
Alba was quite the character and there was never a dull moment with her. She would relentless tease her sister and it had you holding stomach with laughter.
You had received some calls that made you think about a few things. You thought about talking to Lucy and Keira about it but you knew their decision would be biased so you confided in Alexia one night as the two of you walked Nala along Barceloneta. She helped you work though the feelings that the question brought up and by the the time you arrived back to your apartment, which you learnt was in the building opposite to hers, you knew what your decision would be.Â
During the game against Atleti there was a certain Dutchwoman in attendance. It was the second to last game before the Nations league semi final, a game that England has got to by the skin of their teeth. Barcelona came away with a 2-0 win and a lot of the players stayed out on the pitch afterwards to greet the fans that came to support them.
Sarina stood near the locker room and praised the team as they entered.Â
âAre you here for Lucy and Keira?â Aitana asked as she walked down the hall.
Behind her walked the two English women, along with Alexia. The latter knew to expect her, it made sense for her to come see you in person. The other two clearly had no idea that their national team coach was coming.
âShe isnât here for themâÂ
Alexiaâs words cause Lucy and Keiraâs heads to turn in surprise.Â
âY/Nâs still out on the pitch. She is playing with Ireneâs son Matteo, shall I go get her?â
âNo, I can waitâÂ
Just as three of them were about to enter they hear your voice followed by a childâs laughter. You walked down the tunnel with Irene and her little boy. Sarina saw just how happy you were and for a brief moment she regretted coming. She questioned whether or not this is what is best for you.
âGaffaâ you saw the look on your team mates faces and chuckled. Surely they knew it was only a matter of time before Sarina came knocking âLet me get showered quickly and we will goâÂ
âBut weâre going out tonight. Itâs team nightâ Aitana sulked.
âIâll meet you guys thereâÂ
Alexia and you shared a look. She knew what this conversation was going to be about and she was pretty sure she knew what the outcome would be and she was worried. You squeezed her shoulder and smiled before going into the locker room.
It was over 3 hours later that you finally enter the restaurant that the team were eating at.Â
All heads turned to you as you walked through the door. The seat reserved for you happened to be next to Alexia which you donât think was an accident. Lucy and Keira were sat opposite you and you see the look of suspense in their eyes. They hadnât officially been told what you and Sarina were talking about but they had very good guesses.Â
The rest of the team were having their own conversations and you didnât want to make a scene so you nodded your head and that was enough confirmation for them.
âYes!!â Lucy stood up suddenly and slammed her hands on the table.
âHoly fuck. Lucia, sit downâ Â
Lucy does as her told.
âOur captain is backâ Keira said to herself.Â
You tried your best to include yourself in the conversations around you but your mind kept wandering. You found yourself staring off into the distance. It is only when you feel a gentle hand on your thigh do you realise just how spaced out you were.
âIs everything ok? Did your coach say something because if she did thenââ
âStand down Aleâ Alexiaâs eye soften at the nickname. It wasnât a new one for her but you had only just started calling her it and she loved it âIâm just thinking is all. What if Iâm not good enough? What if I donât have a place in that team anymore?â You lean into her and whisper.
âY/N, they are your team. Yes you took some time away but you lead them for a long time and you told me they knew your reasons. It might take some time to get back into things but you will soon be back to how you were before. Besides if things go well for both of us then we will have a World Cup rematch on our hands and I want to see what might have happened if you played in the summerâÂ
Oh you didnât think about that. You hadnât given your upcoming opponents a second thought. Alexia was right. If England beat France then they will face Spain in the national league final.Â
You thought there might be some awkwardness when you walked through the doors at the England camp but you couldnât have been more wrong. Each player welcomed you with open arms and the players that you didnât know as much treated you like everyone else did.
There were a few moments when you got pulled aside by Sarina for what she called her mental health checks. She promised that nothing said between you would be told to anyone else and you chose to believe her. You were honest about how heavy the shirt felt when it had the England badge on and you told her of the nerves you were feeling about playing for your country again.
Alexia had kept texting you to check in and for the most part you told her the truth. It was the day before the match when you got overwhelmed and instead of lying, you chose to ignore her. You knew it wasnât fair but wanted to stay focused. You could bury your feelings for 24 hours. Alexia on the other had wasnât going to give up on you.
âAlexiaâ Jenni nudged her friends leg âEarth to AlexiaâÂ
The woman in question had her eyes glued to the her phone as you sent you yet another message.
âWhat do you want!â Alexia snaps.
âHey, donât snap at me. Who you texting? Is it a girl?â Jenni peaked over her shoulder.
âNoâ Alexia pulled her phone closer to her chest âItâs Y/Nâ
âY/N Y/L/N is a girl last time I checkedâ Jenni couldnât help but tease.
âShe but I donât like her like that, well I do. Wait! I donâtâ Alexia slumps down in her seat âOh Jenni, I donât know how I feelâ
Jenni hasnât seen her friend like this in a long while. Normally Alexia knows what wants and isnât afraid to go for it. This though is different. Itâs almost like she knows what she wants but she is hesitating and Alexia doesnât hesitate.
âItâs ok not to know but something is clearly bothering you. What is it?âÂ
âShe is ignoring meâ
âLast time I saw you you told me she didnât want anything to do with youâ
So much had changed since then and she didnât know how to explain it. In the end she told her everything she could without going into the finer details. Alexia confesses her feelings and explains that she cannot get a hold of you and that none on your team mates were answering either.
âAlexia, I may not know why she stopped playing football but I saw the way she played, she loves the sport. Her playing for England again is a big deal. Everyone is talking about her press conference she did this morning, itâs all over social mediaâÂ
Alexia wasnât aware of a press conference. She never goes on social media the day before a match because it is quite often a distraction. Jenni picks up on her friendâs obliviousness and gives alexia her phone so she can see what is being said.
Jenni was right. You are everywhere.Â
Y/N Y/L/N makes her return but what does it mean? Why now?
Sarina Weigman confirm Y/N is the captain of this team despite turning her back on them.
Beth Mead ruled out for Semi final, should be back for final if England are successful.
World Cup rematch? Y/N says that Spain wouldnât have won if she was playing.
Alexia read headline after headline, article after article. She was beginning to feel overwhelmed so she couldnât imagine what you must have been feeling. The last headline made the Catalonian laugh because she too had thought about what the outcome might have been if you were playing.
âI think the last one is a stretchâ Jenni mumbles.
âWe will never knowâ Alexia is ever more determined to get a hold of you. Just as she was about to call you again, a message comes through.
Hi. Sorry I havenât been around, itâs been a lot. Thank you for checking in on me Alexia, I promise you Iâm ok. Good luck in your match tomorrow.
âSheâs okâ Alexia tells Jenni as if the forward was the one who was worried about you.
The next day you wake up and are ridden with nerves. Itâs not a familiar feeling and you know that you need to calm down before the game or things will end badly.Â
Despite protests from your team mates, you will start the game on the bench. Itâs the right decision and you make sure to tell Sarina just that. Whilst the teamâs recent performances have been spotty to say the least, you refuse to walk back in like nothing had changed. You know you need to earn your place on the pitch with the lionesses.
Spainâs game has an early kick off and finishes just after yours starts. The team get back to the hotel and have organised to watch it the hotel bar. Much to Alexiaâs dismay she is called for Media seen as though Spain won and have qualified for the Olympics.Â
When she finally joins the team she knows that the first half is over but thatâs it.
âWhatâs the score?â She asks anyone who is listening.
â2â0â Ona says.
âThatâsââ Alexia is cut off before she can finish her sentence.
âTo Germanyâ Jenni knows that Alexia would have wanted England to win if for no other reason than you âY/N is going on for TooneâÂ
She cannot help the smile that tugs at her lips as your number goes on the subs board.Â
The world watches as Mary runs over to you and gives you the band.
âWelcome back skipperâ Mary pushes the band up your arm before you can stop her because she knowâs that is what youâll do. She was there in the captainâs meeting when you told Sarina that you didnât deserve the captaincy.
âGame on, MazâÂ
It felt right being on the pitch and wearing the three lions crest. You allow yourself to take in your return but only for a couple of seconds before you turn your attention to the game and the challenge that you face. 3 goals was a lot to ask for when Germany are playing as good as they are. It wouldnât be easy and it would take everything you had but you never shied away from a challenge and you wasnât about to start now.
After about ten minutes you found your rhythm and England were playing the type of football they are known for. It doesnât take long for LJ to make a run and dance around the opposition. You have faith in her but follow her anyways in case she loses the ball. She doesnât but Frohms does save her shot, she doesnât save your rebound though.
âGet the ballâ You shout to the Chelsea player.Â
When the match restarts, the lionesses are on the hunt. Shot after shot is taken but somehow the ball stays out the net. England get a corner in the 80 minute and youâre lurking on the edge of the box, ready to make your run. Popp is the one marking you because she has studied you new way of play since joining Barcelona. Chloeâs corner is pin point and no amount of research in the world could stop you from getting the second goal and tying the game.
Alexia finds herself up on her feet with Ona and a couple of your team mates when you get your brace.
âVamos Y/Nâ she says.
âYou do realise that we will face them if they winâ Misa reminds her.
âRight now, I donât care. She deserves this and Iâm celebrating my team mateâ Alexia didnât care if she might face you in the final.
âShe told youâ Aitana whispers as she pulls her captain down to the sofa âThat is why she doesnât hate you anymore and why youâve stopped interrogating herâ
Alexia does nothing but nod. Her fellow midfielder didnât need to know anything else and she doesnât ask for it either. She accepts that the reason must be valid if Alexia has dropped her questions.
There are 4 minutes announced of stoppage time.Â
When you look up the the score board and see the number you get flashbacks on the euros final. You have been in this position before and came out victorious. Today was going to be no different.Â
It was huge mistake by Germany when Gwinn takes down Hemp about a meter outside the box.
In the past you have found yourself stood over the ball with Beth but this game itâs Alex who stands beside you.
With her hand over her mouth she gives you strict instructions.
âYouâre taking itâÂ
Itâs not a question and you donât argue.
âYou have saved us tonight, now get your hattrickâ
The amount of faith Alex had in you did wonders but it didnât settle every nerve running through your body. Free kicks were your specialty, this wasnât nothing new and the pressure was a familiar feeling.Â
As soon as you strike the ball you know itâs going in. Itâs a hard feeling to describe but many call it shooters instinct, it had never been wrong and it wasnât now. The ball floated over the wall and went in the further part of the top corner. The shot was unsaveable. You ran over to the bench, more specifically to Sarina, to celebrate with the woman who gave you space and welcomed you back with open arms.Â
âItâs like you never leftâ
Her words caught you off guard. For a brief moment you agreed with her but you got hit by the feeling of grief, you looked towards the family section and there was no one supporting you. Maybe some things hadnât changed but a lot certainly has. When the full time whistle was blown your team mates ran towards you, all of the congratulating you on your performance and your first game back.
It was a weird kind of celebrations that night. The team was split, half wanted to celebrate getting through the final and the other half knew the job wasnât done, they knew that the biggest task was yet to be faced. Spain had beaten them before and on the greatest stage, the UEFA national league final could either repeat history and England could rewrite it.
The team travelled to Madrid that night, only hours after the game. Upon arrival almost everyone went to their rooms but not you. You knew sleep wouldnât come easy so you decided to wander the streets of Madrid. It had become a habit of yours, you would walk around and people watch. Every human had their own story to tell and it made you forget about yours.
You had no destination planned yet you found yourself stopping outside a hotel, the one you know from your text messages with Alexia, was the one the Spain team was staying at.Â
A lot of feelings were running through you and you saw this as the universeâs sign that maybe you should talk about them. You have confided in Alexia since Sarina first reached out to you, she knew more than anyone how you really felt about returning and you talked about this very moment, the hours after your first game when the past is very much present in your mind. You remember the words she told you âwhen that happens you call meâ so that is what you do or at least that is what you go to do.
âY/Nâ you hear a familiar voice say. You turn to see Jenni, Irene, Laia and Misa walking towards you.
âHi guysâ your voice is quiet, shy almost and you cannot help the way your eyes scan for Alexia knowing full well that these are the people she spends the most time with.
âWhat are you doing here?â Misa asks you. The two of you hadnât formally been introduced but you had scored a brace against her in the El Classico.
âIâmââÂ
âHere for Alexiaâ Jenni says with a knowing look and you cannot help but feel like she knows something you donât.
You can only nod. Apart from Irene, you didnât know these girls very well and the version of yourself that you show to strangers is very different to the one that your friends see.
âI can take you to her. We are roommatesâ Jenni seems sincere with her words but you feel a pang of jealousy. Everybody knew that the two of them used to date, it shouldnât bother you, you had no right to be jealous yet that is exactly what you were feeling.
You think about it and Jenni can tell you are thinking about it.
âShe hasnât stopped talking about you and I know she will want to see you. She was your biggest fan when we watched the gameâ Jenni added hoping to create some sense of comfortability.
âShe watched my game?â You asked in disbelief. You thought you had no one but maybe you did, maybe Alexia was the someone that was cheering you on but instead of the family area she was cheering you on from the hotel you were currently standing outside of.
âShe did. I think she forgot she was Spanish for a minuteâ Irene says which causes you to laugh.
âI doubt that but I appreciate the support. You know I shouldnât be talking to you, you guys are the enemy nowâÂ
âYet you came here for our captain, she will be your enemy too. Come on, Iâll take you to her. We wouldnât want you to be spotted outside our hotel, just think of the opticsâ Jenni once again says.
âOkâ you nod your head a few times to solidify your answer.
The girls lead you through the hotel but only Jenni and Irene stay with you, Misa and Laia walk ahead. The longer you walk the more you begin wondering if this was a good idea. What if you are overstepping your boundaries. You had no right to be here and could easily be turned away at any point.
You enter the lounge area of the hotel which holds the majority of the Spanish national team yet your eyes search for only one. She seeâs you before you see her and is walking over to you with a worried look on her face.
âEstas bien? What are you doing here?â Alexiaâs arm rests on your shoulder.
âIt was an accident. I was out for a walk and I ended up hereâ you explained.
âShe was asking for youâ Jenni says even though technically it wasnât true. In her eyes she wanted to play matchmaker after it was made evidently clear that Alexia was hesitant to peruse things with you even though she had feelings for you.
âIs this true?â Alexia asks and you nod.
âWe won, I returned, I scored, wore the armband and I didnât have anyone is standsâ you whispered so only she could hear you.
The look in your eyes changed. For the first time that night you showed your true emotions. Alexia didnât need to hear anything else. She grabbed your hand and escorted you to the outdoor seating area. She sat down whilst your paced the patio.
âY/N, come sit downâ Alexia pats the seat next to her and you comply âAre you ok, really? What made you come here to me?â
âIâm not ok but Iâm more ok than I thought I would be. Itâs been quite a day, that game was ââ
âIncredible. You changed the entire playâÂ
âIt felt right. I belong on the pitch with the girls, I should never have leftâ You didnât register that you felt guilty about your absence until you said the words out loud to Alexia.
âYou needed to. You had to process your loss and you returned when you were readyâ
Alexia was very understanding, you had to give her that.Â
âThat answers my first question but the secondâ the Catalonian didnât want to push but there had to be a reason and until she heard the truth she was filled with worry. You had been walking the streets of Madrid, alone, at almost midnight.
âWhy am I here?â You repeated it. Maybe you hoped that hearing the question again would help you figure out an answer, it did âI wanted to celebrateâŠâŠ.with you. I was surrounded by my team, people I consider family yet you were the one I wanted to call and tell about the gameâ
You dipped your head when you felt yourself getting emotional. You were suppose to be happy but with everything you were feeling you were overwhelmed. On top of what you were feeling you couldnât ignore the way your heart beat twice as fast because Alexia was sat opposite you with her hand now resting on your thigh.Â
When you looked up Alexia noticed the the tears in your eyes and was quick to wipe away one when it fell.
âI shouldnât be feeling this way Alexia, it is wrongâ you met her eye as you made your version of a confession.
âYou can be happy about playing football again Y/N. Natalia would have wanted you to beâ
âDonât say her name, not nowâ you shook your head and Alexiaâs hand fell back to its prior place on your thigh.
âIâm sorry, I didnât mean to overstep. I can give you space if that what you needâ the blonde stands, ready to leave you be but you grab her hand and pull her back down.
âI donât want space and that is the problem. I wasnât talking about the game Alexia. I shouldnât be feeling this way about youâ you shook your head in disbelief. You were sure that your shot of happiness died with your wife but you have developed feelings for Alexia and could no longer deny it.
âY/Nâ Alexia cupped your face so that you would look at her but when you did, her hand didnât move.
âAleâ you melted into her touch. That very touch gave you butterflies and you enjoyed the act of intimacy.
The two of you went silent but each of your thoughts were very loud. Alexia glanced at your lips, you knew what she was about to do and you didnât stop her. Maybe you should have, maybe you should have pulled away but you didnât. You didnât move when her lips hovered centimetres from your own, you let her kiss you. You froze in the moment, like a deer in headlights. It was only when you closed your eyes did you realise what was happening. The kiss felt like you were cheating, it felt wrong yet felt so right.
âYou shouldnât have done that. We canât do this. It was wrongâ you pushed Alexia away and stood up hastily.
You stormed away before Alexia had the chance to speak. All eyes were on you as you walked through the sea of Spanish players. Their eyes went from you and then to Alexia who was running through, trying to catch up to you. She was hot on your heels until you turned to face her. She waited a couple of seconds before taking steps towards you.
âStopâ you say but she doesnât âNo!â you held you arm out to further imply your seriousness.
After that she can do nothing else but watch you walk away from her. Her hazel eyes stayed on you until you were out the lobby doors and onto the streets of the Spanish capital.
Alexia was frozen in place. She has ruined everything by rushing but she felt something when she touched you, she felt a spark and that wouldnât have happened if you didnât feel the same thing she did. You told her that had feelings for her, you came all this way to see her. Those things meant something but maybe she had read it wrong, maybe it had all been in her head.
âAlexia, are you ok? Youâre cryingâ Irene appeared in front of her. The woman in question was quick to wipe her eyes in hope that no one else would see her tears.
âIâm fine. Itâs getting late, everyone should go to their rooms. We have a final to prepare for and we need to be at our bestâ Alexia walked away.
The two of you were very quiet in the upcoming days and were laser focused on the task at hand. Beat the opposing team and being the first even UEFA Nations League champions. Both of your team mates could tell something was wrong but they didnât know what to do. Your team mates wasnât aware of your late night adventures until Aitana texted Keira to ask if you were ok and told her that Alexia wasnât after you showed up at their hotel. The English midfielder kept this to herself given that Lucy has only just got started talking to Alexia and there were a few players on the team whoâs protectiveness could rival the defenders.
By the time the day of the final came around there was plenty of reason for concern but both teams knew that this is what you had been working towards. Yes, a trophy was on the line but it was the previous trophy that was the topic of conversation.Â
The first time Alexia saw you was when they arrived for the pitch inspection. You were near the goal with LJ, it has become a new pre match routine for the two of you. Well you did it the game a couple of days ago and you won that so the two of you gravitated towards the goal today.Â
Alexia wanted to go to you and that is what she was going to do until she felt a hand grab her wrist.
âAlexiaâÂ
She turned to face Keira.
âLeave her beâ
âI didnât mean to upset her. We were talking about feelings and then I kissed her, I couldnât help it. It felt right in the momentâ Alexia couldnât stop talking. Itâs like was making a confession and Keira would be the one deciding whether or not it was a sin.
Meanwhile the English midfielder couldnât believe what she was hearing. Sure she had suspected something was going on between the two of you but she also had a strong sense that you wasnât ready for anything knew. In her eyes you were still healing.
âYou kissed her?â Keira whispered as not to bring attention to their conversation.
Alexia was about to explain further but Keira stopped her as she sure her other team mate coming towards them.
âLucy is coming. I will talk to you about this laterâÂ
It was as if Keira flipped a switch. Her look of concern was replaced with a smile and she even put on a fake laugh so Lucy wouldnât arrive to an awkward silence. Soon enough it was a gathering of Barcelona players yet Alexia could stay focused on what her friends were saying for you were beginning to walk towards her.
In your eyes you wanted to talk to Alexia and you knew you needed to. The other night was a lot for you to process but you did owe her an explanation for leaving, that much you did know. She looked good as you watched her enter the pitch. You let your eyes linger in the most discreet way possible.Â
âYou and Putellas?â LJ asked you. She wasnât aware of what happened, nor did she know you were married. In her eyes, you were hiding something and she wasnât wrong.
âWe are friendsâŠ..I think. Itâs complicatedâ you admitted knowing that Lauren wouldnât push you further.
âUncomplicate itâ she suggested.
âIf only it was that easy. Letâs head in and get readyâ
You felt the change in heartbeat again as you got closer to where Alexia was standing. Your head might have been all over the place but you heart was being very clear in what it wanted only you werenât ready to admit it.
âY/Nâ Alexia shouted to you as you walked past her.
âHiâ for whatever reason, you pulled her into a hug âGood luck today, youâre going to need itâÂ
You both started laughing at the quick change of energy.
âI donât think itâs us that need luck. We beat you in the summerâ Alexia was cocky but she wasnât confident.
âYou didnât beat me thoughâ you couldnât help but smile at her.
Your smile was genuine and that is something Alexia took great hope in seeing. Maybe you werenât mad at her, maybe you just needed a little space.
What you said next doubled that hope.
âCome find me after the gameâ
Then just as quick as the hope was there, it wasnât.
âWe need to talkâ
Those 4 words struck fear in Alexia but she didnât have the chance to say anything because you were already down the tunnel by the time she came to her senses.
Your was brought up several times in the Spanish locker room and each time all eyes fell to Alexia for she is the one that knew you most. She had learnt how you think, what plays you are going to make before you make them. In her teamâs eyes she knew how to stop you. Only it wasnât that easy. Alexia did knew how you play but that style changes when you are hungry, like you have a point to prove and this game brought both of those things.
âStop focusing on Y/N! If you focus on how to stop her then youâve already lost. Focus on stopping her from getting the ballâ That is the last thing she said before heading out into the tunnel.Â
The lionesses were waiting for her, she expected it. It was an intimidation tactic. You werenât there and that was a surprise, she would have bet good money that you would be in the starting 11. Mary stood opposite her and smirked when she saw the look of bewilderment on the opposing players face.Â
Alexia wanted to say something, she kept looking back at the team. If she was paying attention she would notice that there was only 10 players on the England side of the tunnel. With her eyes now facing forward she didnât see you walking towards the front of the line. The sound of your cleats fell on deaf ears.
Her head shot to the side when she caught a glimpse of you standing next to her with the pendent in your hand.
âCapital Y/L/N, nice to see you back where you belongâ Alexia covered her mouth, her being well aware that there were cameras on her.
You shake your head at her greeting.
âCaptain Putellas. Youâre going to wish I wasnâtâ you had one last attempt to get in her head.
âNo I wonât. Win or lose today, this is something the world, myself included, has been waiting forâÂ
You thought you would get a smart remark not a reply that was genuine.
âAlexiaâÂ
âY/NâÂ
Those were the last words spoken except from a good look after the coin toss.
You called a huddle before everyone got into place. This game was important, not only because of the trophy on the line but it was the lionesses chance at redemption. To prove that it was only one game.
âI want you all to do something for me. Play for right now, not for the past. You cannot change what happened in the summer, no matter how hard you try. Winning today wonât get you the star on the shirt but it can be the reset you guys have been wanting. That loss has been haunting you, I can see it by the look on your faces and I promise you here today that if you play with revenge in your hearts then you will fail. Yes, this is Spain but we are England. We donât stay down, we get up and fight. We stand together as a team, a pride. We go out there and leave everything on the pitchâÂ
Each player is hooked on every word as you give Mary the signal.Â
âEngland on threeâÂ
You all come together one more time before getting in position.
Alexia tries to do the same by most of the team is watching you.
âShe is going to make it hardâ Olga tells her captain.
âShe is going to make our lives hell for the next 90 minutes but thatâs not to say we canât give it back. Look at that star on your shirt, we got that by beating this team. Yes, Y/N wasnât playing but she is one player. As good as she may be, we are better. Youâve seen what everyone is saying, they are calling our World Cup win a fluke, that we didnât win but England lost. We may have qualified for the Olympics but our job is not done. We have a trophy to win. Vamos EspanaâÂ
Just like England did, Spain come together before readying themselves for the game.
The game which starts in the worst possible way for the away team. It seems the your players might be a bit more nervous that they are letting on. Inside the first 15 minutes Salma gets through on goal and sends Spain up 1-0. It wasnât ideal but it didnât mean the game was over either. You were playing safe, as a way to get the most out of the team around you. When the first half is done with you havenât take a single shot on goal.Â
Spain entered the tunnel happy and England entered it less so.
The atmosphere was eerie in the locker room and you could see the self doubt radiating off your team mates.
Sarina takes the floor and explains all sorts of strategies but nobody is listening. They are in their own head.
âDo you mind?â You walk up to Sarina hoping to have a talk with your team. The coach happily steps aside.
âHow many of you are thinking about the World Cup? Raise your handâ nobody does and you decide to call bullshit âYouâre lying and I wonât have that. You are telling me none of you are out there thinking of the summer? the picture of them lifting the trophy that should have been yours?âÂ
One by one players begin lifting their hands.
âI can stand here and say I havenât been good enough. I need to be better and I will be better. In 45 minutes we will be crowned champions. The question is are we going to do it in style or are we going to make it harder for ourselves? We know what we need to do and we will do itâÂ
You leave the locker room and go back out onto the pitch. You are the first one out there and you take a minute to look at the score board. 1-0. You hated to lose but more than that, you hated to let people down. You made the decision to come back and you didnât do that to come second. You returned to be a champion and to make Natalia proud, you wasnât doing to let her down. You had spent the past couple of days trying not to think about her and maybe that was the problem. She was your greatest strength, your biggest supporter and she may be no longer with you, you may be beginning to move on but that doesnât mean you have to forget about her. No, you need to play for her just as you always did.
The first ten minutes of the second half it was like a different team was on the pitch. England were pushing and pressing and Spain were struggling. In the 67 minute was when the game was made even once again. You and hempo were tiring out the defence and it made them vulnerable. On one counter attack they couldnât keep up. Irene was the only player standing between you and Cata but she could see Hempo running up beside you. She found herself in a lose lose situation so she stuck with you in hopes that the pressure would work, it didnât. You pull her in just enough to give hempo enough space. At the last minute you passed to your left and she fired the ball into the back of the net.
Game on.
Spain were beginning to tire and the one touch football that was known around the world began to work in favour of England. They were unable to play out from the back because you, Alessia, Hempo and LJ was pressing the defence. It was mind play and it was working.Â
It was during a corner where things got interesting.
âKeep going!â You clapped your hands to rally the team âwe are in their heads, now we end itâÂ
âYouâre not in our headsâ Alexia says as she chooses to mark you. It was a tactic they hadnât done yet, so far Jenni had marked you.
âJust you saying that is proof that we are but feel free to prove me wrongâ you had a minute to talk as the ref walk talking to Lucy and Irene.
âI will. Letâs make it interesting. You score right now and Iâll buy you a drink laterâ
âSo that means Iâll be taking the trophy and your money? Oh youâre onâÂ
Alexia followed you are you walked around the box as you got into position. You would end up in one or two places; front post or in the middle. Never did she think you would make a run for the back post and swap positions will Lucy. The change caught Alexia out and when the ball hit the back of the neck she shook her head in defeat.Â
She had played right into your hands. You had pulled her in with your words and left her hanging when you celebrated what would go on to be the winning goal of the game.
You had to take a moment when the game was over. Everyone was celebrating but you and Lucy made the effort to congratulate your club team mates of a game well played.
âAy, Capi. Youâre predictable you know that?â Lucy threw her arms around the Catalonian.
âLucy!â You slapped her on the back of the head âWhat she meant to say is you guys played a good game and that we will see you in Parisâ
âWeâll see them in Barcelonaâ Lucy tried to correct you.
âI mean on the pitch as opponents, idiotâ Â
Alexia was to focused on what the defender said first to hear the bickering that was now taking place between the two of you.
âWhat did she mean?â Alexia asked you.
Lucy gave you a look before leaving the two of you be.
âYou once told me that in order to see yourself as the best, you had to beat the best. Tonight you wanted to beat meâ
âNo, I ââÂ
âYou did and thatâs ok. I wanted to beat you too. Itâs our competitive nature. That need you had allowed us a way in. I didnât know it would come from a corner, only that in at least one part of the game you will stick to me just so you could say you got the upper handâ
âI should have dropped you off, let Irene pick you up and followed Lucyâ Alexia understands the error she made.
âYou should have but donât beat yourself up about it. That wasnât our first plan or second. Our plan was for Hempo to tire Ona out and for Lucy to get inside Olgaâs head. Without those two things happening, we wouldnât have got the corner in the way we didâ
Alexia didnât know whether to be pissed off or impressed that you read her and her team so well.
âYou deserve the win today. Go celebrate with your teamâÂ
âI will but remember you owe me a drink. Iâll text you the address of wherever we go. Invite the girls tooâ
Alexia watched you walk away but there was one more thing she wanted to tell you only she feared it would do more damage than good. In the end she bite the bullet and ran to you.
âY/NâÂ
âHi againâ you laughed âDo you want another explanation of our strategy? We can always watch the game back when we in home in BarcelonaâÂ
Home in Barcelona. There is something about the way you said it that made alexia feel warm and fuzzy inside. She quickly shook her head to rid herself of those thoughts and the overthinking that came with them.
âI just want to say that Natalia would have been proud of you today. Not just today but the other game too. I know itâs not my place to say that because I didnât know her but you should know that. Youââ Alexia began rambling.
âBreathe. Thank you for saying that. I know she is looking down on me right now with a huge smile on her face and truth is if I think about her too much then I think I might cry so I donât want to go into that right now. Thank you thoughâÂ
Alexia couldnât help but feel like she shouldnât have said that.
The ceremony went by in the blind of an eye. One minute you are waiting for Spain to collect their medals, the next you are raising the trophy with Mary. Back in the locker room you find yourself staring at the medal on your neck. Never in your professional career had one stayed on your neck for this long and never has the gold felt so heavy. It felt like it was weighing you down so you take it off and stuff it into your back. You would talk about that means with your therapist if you had one.Â
Later on in the night you found yourself at the hotel bar with the rest of the team celebrating. You tried your best to be happy and part of you truly was but you life off the field was becoming more complicated and hard to ignore.
âExcuse meâ you tell the group that included Leah, Georgia, Keira and Lucy.Â
âShould we be concerned?â Georgia asks.
âYes but let her have a moment. These past ten days have been a lot for herâ Lucy tells her friend.
They watched as you paced back and forth on the balcony. To the English it was warm outside but there was still a chill in the air and you werenât wearing a jacket. Keira kept looking at her watch asking herself how long is long enough before she goes out to you.Â
Some of the Spanish team arrive about an hour after the lionesses. Some of them go to the bar, some go to friend but Alexia, well she only had one interest and she couldnât it or more specifically couldnât find you. Her eyes scanned the room one, twice and third time. She had her phone out ready to call just as she sees you.Â
Leah catches her walking towards you and wants to stop her.
âWhat is she doingâ The blonde asks defensively âY/N doesnât want anything to do with herâ
The Arsenal player has heard about you bust up when Keira visiting England over Christmas.Â
âThings are different now but Iâm not sure this is the right thing to do. Alexia!â Keira shouts her club captain over.
âHola. Congratulations again. You guys sure know how to partyâ she tried to be polite even though she had no interest in a conversation with anyone who wasnât you.
âThank youâ Leah seems genuine âWere you going to see Y/N?âÂ
Alexia nods.
âThat might not be the best idea right now. I think she needs a minute to herself. Itâs been quite the day for herâ
âI know. Thatâs why I want to talk to herâ Alexia knew that you might be been struggling but to her that was all the more reason for her to talk to you.
âShe wonât even wear her medalâ Georgia adds earning her a shove. As far as the English players are aware, Alexia didnât know anything.
âThat isnât surprising. Every tournament until this one she has given her medal to Nataliaâ Alexia says as if it is the most obvious thing but your friends didnât put two and two together.
âWaitâ Lucy says âShe told you about her?â Again, Alexia nods.
âWhen? She hasnât talked about her since she passedâ the defender added.
âAfter Christmasâ Alexia explains but goes no further.
âThatâs why she went to you the other night but then youââ
âKeira, I wonât talk about that right now. I just want make sure she is ok and I canât do that if I am being interrogated by youâÂ
With that Alexia leaves your friends speechless and makes her way towards the balcony.
As quietly as possible, Alexia slides the door open and closes it behind her. She didnât want to startle you so she watched from a distance. Your face wasnât puffy so you hadnât been crying but your posture was stiff so you were stressed.
âTheyâve spent the past hour burning holes in the back of my head from their staring yet you have come straight outâ you turn to see Alexia resting against the door.Â
âI owe you a drink and ââÂ
âAnd yet your hands are emptyâ you point to Alexiaâs hand which as you stated arenât holding a drink âYou can come closer you know. Iâm not going to blowâ
âI know itâs just thatââ
âThe last time we were along I ran away cryingâ you laugh as you think back to that night. Things were going really well until they wasnât.
âAre you going to let me finish a sentence or are you going to keep talking for me?â
You mumble an apology and signal for her to continue.
âYour friends know I know and I accidentally told keira we kissedâÂ
âFigures. She has been hoveringâÂ
The two of you go quiet. Itâs not awkward, itâs comfortable but even then itâs not what either of you wanted.
âYou said we needed to talkâ Alexia didnât want to push things and you had told her this before the game.
âWe do. What happened the other night itââ
âShouldnât have happenedâ
âWho is finishing the otherâs sentences nowâÂ
âLo sientoâ
âAs I was sayingâ you send her smirk so she knows she isnât in trouble âThe other night was very overwhelming for me, not because I didnât like what happened but because I did. I told you that I had feelings and those feelings are for you Alexia. You make me feel things that I thought Iâd never feel again. I promised my heart and love to her Alexia and to feel these things for someone else is like an act of betrayal. It feels wrong but I donât want those feelings to stop. You kissed me and I knew it was going to happen yet I didnât to stop it. I shouldnât have ran away like thatâ
âIt was a lot for you, I understand thatâ Alexia tried to reassure you that it was ok.
âIt was but I should have stayed. You wanted to talk to me and I didnât give you the opportunity. Just because I lost someone doesnât mean that itâs only my feelings that matter. Iâm sorry AlexiaâÂ
Alexia couldnât believe what she was hearing. Since you said the words âwe need to talkâ she has been trying to think of all the things you could have said, an apology was not one of them.
âCan I say what I would have that night?â Alexia asks and you nods your head whilst closing the distance between you.
âThose feelings you talked about, I feel them too. Things changed between us after you told me and I couldnât ignore it, trust me I tried. I was also aware of your loss and that this might not be something you are ready for so I talked to my mum one night. She is the only other person I know who has experienced the same loss you have. I told her that I had fallen for you and that I wanted to act on my feelings. You know what she told me? She told me that time heals all wounds but no amount of time is the same. If I wanted to prove to you that I truly liked you then I would need to take it slow so that is what I am willing to do. If you want to pursue this then we will take it slow, as slow as you need. You said it feels like an act of betrayal and I respect that. I wonât push you into anything youâre not ready forâ
Alexia reached out for you and noticed once again tears were falling down your face.
âI have made you cry again. I shouldnât have said anything. Y/N I am so sorryâ
âAlexia, these arenât sad tearsâ you reach for her hand âI canât promise you that this will be easy. When Natalia died she took a lot of my heart with her and I donât know how much is left but I want to share what I have left with you. Please be patient with me Alexia because I donât know how to do this again. For most of my life it has been her and I but now I get the chance at happiness again, with you. We can take this slow?â
âWe will go as slow are you want. I have nothing but time for you Y/Nâ
Alexia knew what to say and for the first time in a long time you found yourself leaning forward. Just as you were about to kiss her she moves and kisses your cheek.
âSlowly Y/Nâ Alexia winked causing you to chuckle âHow about we go for dinner when we return to Barcelona?â
âI would really like thatâ
âMe too. Now if I remember correctly I owe you a drinkâ Alexia holds the door open so that you both can rejoin the party.
âThat does seem to be the case. Make it a double. Itâs not every day you pull one over on La Reina to score the winning goalâ you shoved her playfully.

Shadows of Victory
Your parents die before the world cup final. 1.7k words
So i know I said the fic that won the poll would be out next but um, that obviously didn't happen, but I hope you all like this, came up with the idea and decided to just run with it. (I also do apologise for the cringy title - if it is cringy)
You were late, you were late to training and you were going to get punished for it, even though you had permission to go, even though you shouldnât have even been playing. Two days post semi-final and two days pre final, you needed to be there, you needed to be at training and on time, even if you'd just gotten on a 21 hour plane ride.
Hoping to just slip into the group you walked onto the pitch, boots already on and tracker in. However your plans were foiled when Vilda shouted your name from across the pitch, you quickly transitioned to your pace into a jog and moved towards him.
âYouâre late,â he snapped, looking at you expectantly.
âI know, Iâm sorry,â you mumbled, as you looked to the floor..
âWell, I hope somebody died for you to be this late,â he mocked and you felt like you could punch him. He knew someone had, he was the one that allowed you to go back to Spain so you could go to your Parents' funeral that the city had planned. It was a flight you wished you never had to do, sitting with Luis on a 21 hour flight, but it was the only way you could go to their funeral.
âDo my parents count?â you asked, verbally punching him rather than physically punching him. You donât think youâve even seen the and left wordless and yet you did, he stared at you, in shock and you immediately regretted the decision.
âAlright everyone, back to training, we have a world cup final to win,â he said and you were confused, but quickly joined training, maybe he was just waiting to punish you until after training.Â
You hadnât spoken to anyone since then and you played the full 105 minutes of the final, most would see that as a reward but it was punishment, you didnât want to play at all.
You sat on the pitch, a mix of gold confetti and grass under you as you watched everyone else celebrate, you couldnât celebrate the weight of the medal around your neck, the weight of victory was nothing compared to the weight of your heart.
âMind if I join you,â you heard the ever recognisable voice of Emma, and you knew she wasnât asking, she sat down next to you but she didnât say anything, waiting for you to talk first.Â
Emma had been your coach for the past season, youâd signed for Barça at 18 however youâd never actually played for them, you were loaned to Man United for that season, then in the 21/22 season you were Loaned to Man City and for the most recent season you were loaned to Chelsea. You enjoyed all the clubs, but Chelsea was probably the best, unlike how Emma seemed to the public she was actually really supportive and kind.Â
âItâs weird,â you said finally breaking the silence between you, âthem not being here, itâs weirdâ
âI know. It is,â she replied. It was weird for Emma too, your parents were at every single game physically possible, they didnât care if it meant stepping out of a meeting and onto a plane and then stepping out of the stadium into a virtual meeting, they would be there, no matter what. They were there for every award, every final, every first, and now they werenât, theyâd missed a final, a first and two awards. Emma also knew how much you loved your parents and how much they meant to you, you spent all of your free time with them, you called them every night. âTheyâd be really proud of you, I know you played against your will tonight, but you still showed them up, Iâm not happy youâre going back to Barça, will make them harder to beat,â
âWhy? Because Iâll be on their team or because you won't have me on your team?â
âBoth,â she replied with a laugh, âAlright, up you get, you donât have to go celebrate but at least go sit on the benches,â you nodded at her before getting up and making your way to the bench, where you brought your knees up to your chest.
-
Alexia had noticed you sitting by yourself on the bench, and decided to go sit with you, dragging Jenni behind her.Â
âPequeña,â Jenni said as they sat either side of you.
âPlease just leave me alone,â you mumbled.
âNo,â it was Alexia this time, âyou played really well today,â
âThanks,â
âWe know youâre having a tough time Pequeña but you could talk to us,â Jenni said softly not wanting to come across too harshly.
âWhat do you want me to talk about? That my parents are dead. That I was forced to play in this match even though Iâve flown 42 hours in the past 4 days. That I am teammates with most of this team yet I donât know any of you because Iâve never actually put a Barcelona kit on. That Iâm starting a new season with a new club that Iâve actually been part of for 3 years, that has some of the best players on the world on it, but mostly i was excited to finally actually get to play in the same city my parents played in and now theyâre dead,â you snapped before tears started to spring out of your eyes, âSorry, Iâm sorry, youâre just trying to be nice and-â
âItâs okay Nena,â Alexia cut you off as her arm wrapped around your shoulders, and you all but launched yourself into her lap, surprising her slightly, however she was quick to adjust her arms so she could hold your shaking body in her arms, âWeâve got you Nena, youâre okay, itâs going to be okay,â
You sat next to Ona on the plane back to Barcelona, which was where you finally got some sleep, the exhaustion had settled in and you could barely keep your eyes open, you slept for almost the entire flight waking up an hour before landing.Â
-
You were practically catatonic by the time the plane landed, you hadnât made any indication of plans to get off the plane and so once everyone else had disembarked, alexia crouched in front of you, placing her hands on your knees.
âNena, youâre going to come home with me, Olga, is waiting in the car for us, we just need to get off the plane and get our bags,â
You nodded your head once at her, as she stood, and she placed a hand between your shoulder blades, gently guiding you through the airport, and out to the waiting car.
You slid into the car and didnât even notice when Olga greeted you, or notice the fact that Mapi, your idol, was sitting next to you. Your whole body felt numb and your head was fuzzy but despite that your heart felt heavy.
You were guided by Alexia into her spare bedroom, where you immediately lied down on the bed, on top of the covers, completely missing the way Mapi had gone into your home to get some items you would need for the next few days, having been instructed by Ona to do so, hoping that by the time you needed to return to that home you would be in a better place.
You laid on the bed with your eyes wide open, however you couldnât actually see anything or at least you werenât registering it. You didnât see Alexiaâs silent celebration when she realised you were at least drinking water, nor did you realise when she filled it up multiple times. You didnât notice the multiple times Ona had sat in front of you on the floor, trying to coax you out of whatever state you were in. You hadnât slept, you hadnât cried, you hadnât eaten and you hadnât talked for two days, which is how Lucy and Ona ended up at the airport, picking up your girlfriend. Something that shocked most of the team when Ona mentioned it.
-
Alessia walked into Alexiaâs house and straight past the multiple teammates in the living room, ignoring their varying facial expressions. She was expecting it, after all no one even knew if you were both straight or not, let alone the fact you were dating.
âBaby,â she said as the door to Alexiaâs spare room closed behind her, she walked up beside you and crouch down, âhey baby,â said softly spoke as she placed her hand on your back, she noticed your eyes flicker and land on her, before the corners of your lips lifted ever so slightly, âhey, can I help you get up? I think it would be a good idea to have a shower,â you started to move and so Alessia helped you, guiding you to the bathroom where she sat you down on the edge of the bath, placing a kiss on your forehead, before grabbing clean clothes for you both, and messaging Ona quickly asking if she could get Alexia to get more sheets so Alessia could change them. She stepped back into the bathroom and locked the door. Placing the clothes on the counter she walked to you.
Alessiaâs hands moved to the hem of your shirt before they stopped, âCan I?â she asked and you nodded, before putting your arms up helping her to take it off, she hesitated again before just going ahead with your shirts, youâd seen each other naked thousands of times, sheâd undressed you thousands of times but this was different, you were so vulnerable, broken. Alessiaâs heart broke at the vacant look in your usually bright eyes, she didnât miss the bags under your eyes, or the way you were unsteady on your feet.
-
âI-I canât do this, how do I do this without them?â you sniffed.
âIâm sorry, it sucks, Iâm so sorry, but Iâm here for you, I will always be here for you, no matter what,â she said softly before kissing your head, âI love you so much,â she murmured as sobs once again started to rack your body. Alessia held your trembling body in her arms, occasionally murmuring comforting words in your ear. Eventually your breaths slowed and evened out, allowing Alessia to relax slightly.

Short: Lego and Lunches - Alexia x Reader
Summary: R and her neice (from Good with Kids) spend the day together building lego and making a mess
A/N: I forgot I wrote this but I post at the whim of a german child
Another day off, another day spent with your niece.
Although today's adventures in babysitting were a lot more short notice than the rest usually are. You were supposed to spend the day doing media but you had gotten your manager to reschedule them because you could honestly think of no worse way to spend your time than talking to strangers.
So instead you and Valeria are sitting in the office of your apartment building lego sets.
Well, you're building the latest millennium falcon set, and sheâs playing with some extra pieces that you had in a bucket.
The two of you had made some lego flowers for your girlfriend earlier but the 5 year old had quickly gotten sick of having to follow the step by step instructions.
Thereâs music playing softly in the background and every now and again you hear Vali mumble something to herself, completely immersed in her make believe game.
Youâre not sure exactly how much time passes but eventually you realize that you should probably feed the kid before her parents accuse you of starving her.
âPulguita,â you call out, not looking up from the pieces in front of you. âWhat do you want to eat?â
âTortillas.â
âTortillas?â
âSi.â
âJust tortillas?â
âMmhmm.â
âOk well thatâs not happening so letâs head to the kitchen to see what we can make using tortillas,â you tell her finally standing up, groaning as you stretch out.
âAlright.â
In the kitchen, the task isnât as easy as you made it seem because the kid shoots down every option you give her. All the semi-helthy ones that is because slathering the tortilla in Nutella is apparently the way to the kindergartenerâs heart.
And maybe yourâs too because the three you eat are totally worth the lecture youâll get during your next meeting with the teamâs nutritionist.
All in all, youâd considered lunch is a success but the clean up however is not something you thought about going into it. Because now your looking around at your kitchen afraid of what your girlfriend will say when she comes home.
Then thereâs the Valeria of it all.
The kid has somehow managed to completely cover her face and hands, as well as part of her shirt in the chocolate spread.
Itâs a mess.
But before you even have a chance to force Valeria to scrub the evidence from her body, Alexia returns and sends you a glare that makes you think, âno, it was not worth it at all.â
âSeriously,â she asks, stepping into the space and seeing the chocolate smeared on the counter.
âUh,â you say, holding your hands up in a way thatâs supposed to show your innocence but instead shows the evidence on your own hands. âWe had fruit too?â
The glare you get in return letâs you know that she is not impressed but before you can even formulate words to help your case, Valeria does it for you.
âHola Ale.â
âHola nena,â she says, turning to smile at the kid. âDid you have a good time today?â
âYea! We watched Barbie and played Lego and ate Nutella tortillas!â
âSounds like a very full day,â Alexia says, while helping Valeria get off the stool. âWhy donât you tell me more about it while we get you cleaned up?â
Valeria easily agrees to this and is headed down the hallway to the bathroom leaving you staring at the very annoyed expression of your girlfriend.
âClean this up.â
âAmor, I,â she cuts you off.
âNow, Y/N,â she says before rushing down the hall when she hears the faucet turn on in the bathroom.
"Hi babe, how was your day? Great thanks for asking," you grumble mockingly as you watch her walk away.
"I heard that!"
"No you didn't!"

Just like Mama | Alexia Putellas x Reader
Where your daughter wants to be just like her mama
Woso masterlist | Words: 1.1k
-----
âMama scored!â Your daughter Talia jumped up from the couch and ran a celebratory lap around the coffee table, ending her lap in your arms.Â
âYes she did! Did you see that she did your celebration, Carinyo?â She nodded enthusiastically. âMama scored for me.â You kiss her on her cheek. âShe always does.â Talia cuddles back into your side, as the match plays on.
Since Talia had started pre-school you werenât able to go see her Mama play as often as you used to. You went to all the home games, but away games that involve travelling, were less practical now that your baby was growing. Despite not always being able to go watch your wifeâs matches live, you and Talia never missed a match.Â
Alexia had been nervous about not being related to your daughter by blood, when you were still pregnant, but while Talia was biologically yours, she was a carbon copy of your wife. They shared the same passion for football, the same big heart, the same shyness, and the characteristics were uncanny.Â
âMommy?â You hear the sadness laced into your daughterâs voice, and are fast to her side. âWhatâs wrong, Carinyo?â With big sad eyes she tells you that she misses her Mama. âI miss her too. Do you know what I like to do when I miss Mama?â Your four year old shakes her head, but you could tell in her eyes that you had piqued her interest.Â
You grab your phone out of your pocket. âI like to look at pictures of Mama, and think about the memories I have from those moments. Would you like to give it a try?â You took Talia crawling into your lap as a yes and got the first picture ready on your phone.
âHey, we have that one at home!â Talia instantly recognised the Ballon dâOr trophy that sat on the shelves of your home office. âYeah, thatâs right. Mama won two of these trophies, theyâre called Ballon dâOrâs. This was the first time she won it, and it means that she was the best footballer that season.â Talia nodded with a content smile, âMama is the best.â
âDo you know who that is, Carinyo?â Talia observes the next image. Alexia holding a baby in her arms. âIs that me, Mommy?â You nod with a smile on your face. âIt is! Thatâs the day that Mama and I got to bring you home from the hospital for the first time.â The memory brings a smile to your face. Bringing Talia home for the first time had been both scary and amazing. It was your and Alexiaâs first time being alone with Talia, no more doctors around to help you as the first time parents that you were. But also the moment the reality of your family expanding started to feel real. No longer just the two of you at home, but now a family of three.
âThis one isnât from too long ago. Remember Mamaâs birthday?â Talia thought for a moment before exclaiming, âWe had cake!â You chuckle at the part of the day she remembered, but she wasnât wrong. âThatâs right, we did have cake.â
The next picture on your phone brings an instant smile to your face, itâs an image of your wife posing on a bridge over the canals of Amsterdam. âThis is when I took Mama on a little weekend trip to Amsterdam. It was a very special trip, do you know why?â Talia shakes her head. âWhy Mommy?â You place a loving kiss onto her head. âIâll tell you why, Carinyo. I told Mama we were going to have a baby on this trip, that we were pregnant with you.â Talia seems deep in thought for a moment. âMommy, have I been to Amsterdam?âÂ
âWell only when you were still a tiny baby growing in my tummy.â With a determined look she turned your way. âCan we go now that Iâm a big girl?âÂ
You loved your little girl with all your heart, and yes to you she would always be your little girl, no matter how often she would say sheâs a big girl now. âYeah, Carinyo, I think we can take a little trip as a family when Mama has some time off next.â Content with that answer, Talia requested the next picture.
âIn this one Mama had just won the World Cup, and thatâs you celebrating with her on the field.â Talia was too young to remember the moment, but it would forever be one youâd hold close to your heart. Your wife accomplished something incredible and for the first time she was able to celebrate a trophy with her daughter.Â
While your mind went back to 2023 and the moment the final whistle blew, watching the girls win, your daughterâs mind was focussed on something else. âMama had pink hair.â You remember Ale coming home from running errands with her hair dyed a bright pink a few days before leaving for the World Cup. To say you were surprised was an understatement, sure Alexia dyed her hair every now and then, but usually they had been neutral colours. You loved her with any hair colour though, even the pink looked amazing on her.
âCan I have pink hair like Mama, please?â You were hesitant at first, but the many pleas that followed after with the best puppy dog eyes Talia could manage, you caved. âAlright, why not. Letâs surprise Mama with it.âÂ
Talia was overjoyed with her new hair, and walked around saying âJust like Mama.â every time she saw herself in a reflection.Â
Clad in her FC Barcelona kit, you took her to pick up your wife. The moment she saw Ale she ran towards her Mama. First she ran in for a hug, cause she missed her so much, but after she stepped back and proudly showed off her hair. âLook Mama, just like you!â Alexia took in the look, and smiled at her daughter, âJust like Mama, I like it. You look very pretty.âÂ
She picked up Talia and walked to your side. âSurprising me like I surprised you before the World Cup?â She smirked.
You raise your hand in surrender, âIt was all her idea, I just provided the hair dye.â She pecked your lips and hugged you with Talia still in her arms. âLetâs go home. Iâve missed cuddling with my favourite girls.â

INSTAGRAM LIVE ⹠A. PUTELLAS
request: âI can ask that the reader and Alex do a live together and Alexia looks at the reader with loving eyes and answers questions together all with cuteness.â
pairings: alexia putellas x fem!reader.
genre: pure fluff.
word count: 1.3k
warnings:Â just alexia and you being so in love that it makes fans sick lol.
note:Â this was in my drafts, so decided to edit it and post it for yâall. hope you like the small surprise fic <3
you were just casually laying with your head on alexiaâs lap while she ran her fingers through your hair. it was your favorite thing to do when you had time. laying with your girlfriend and her running her fingers through your hair.
just when you had fallen asleep, alexia decided to wake you up by caressing your cheek. âmi amorâ she whispered, but enough for you to hear. you hummed a âyesâ into her stomach, wanting her to continue running her fingers through your hair.
âshould we go live on my instagram?â alexia asked you, making you rub your eyes and sit up on the couch beside alexia with your head still on her shoulder. âdo you even know what youâre talking about la reina?â you teased her which earned you a light flick by her finger on your forehead.
you fake gasped, but the gasp was quickly wiped away when alexia kissed your forehead, then your nose and lastly, a passionate kiss on your lips. âyouâre forgivenâ you said with a smile.
âyeah, i knowâ alexia responded with a cheeky smile, making you roll your eyes at her.
âanyway, should we go live on instagram?â alexia asked, repeating her question. âsi. it would be fun, but i wonât help you with anything. you have to figure it out yourselfâ you answered, trying not to laugh as you knew alexia wasnât the best at instagram yet even if she tried a lot, especially after getting so many followers.Â
âmi amor-â alexia started complaining, but you responded with a simple ânoâ. after more complaints from your girlfriend, you two agreed that if she made everything a very big disaster, you would eventually help her. Â
alexia also decided that she should do a quick story before going live, so her fans would be ready to watch the two of you and send questions. âi want you to be in it tooâ alexia said and literally took her arm around your waist, dragging you into her without any warning, but you couldnât complain as she started the video.Â
âhola everyone. y/n and i are going live here on instagram in a few minutes, so we hope yâall will come and ask us questions and hang out. adios, see you soon!â alexia announced while you just stared at her with a big smile. what did you do to deserve her?
âyouâre so cute!â you mumbled into her shoulder, still with a big smile on your face. âquĂ©? why?â alexia asked, worried that she said something wrong as english isnât her first language.Â
âcalm down babe. you didnât say anything wrong. you just sounded so cute while talking english in your hot spanish accentâ you answered as you tried to cheer up your worried girlfriend. she always get so worried about saying something wrong in english.Â
âmy hot spanish accent?â alexia mumbled confused at you. you just gave her your usually cute little smile with a simple nod. âyou really think my accent is hot?â alexia asked as if she was surprised.
âale, everything about you is hotâ you answered in a low voice, failing to keep a shy smile off your face. alexiaâs confused look was now replaced with a smirk, looking you right in the eyes, almost making you weak.
âis that so?â alexia asked while you just nodded as you looked down at your feet, feeling alexiaâs eyes burn through you. alexia then took her finger under your chin, making you look back up at her.Â
she then smashed her lips into your in a slow and passionate kiss. just as you had started kissing her back, she stopped kissing you and walked away. âwhat the- ale, where are you going?â you yelled at her.Â
âiâm just going to make us some iced coffees before we go live. that is okay right miss y/l?â alexia asked in a teasing tone while you just huffed at her with an annoyed face, sitting down on the couch with your phone, posting alexiaâs story on your profile.Â
after eight minutes, alexia was back with two iced coffees and ready to go live. she opened her phone and started the live with 35,000 people already watching. alexia just somehow didnât know that.Â
âdo i have something in my teeth?â alexia asked, putting her face close to the camera, finally making you crack a big laugh. âwhyâre you laughing?â she asked and after wiping your tears from your laughs, you answered her. âdo you know that 35.000 people just heard and saw that?âÂ
âhuh? are we already live?â alexia asked. you just slightly nodded, before going into another laughing attack full of tears. âwhy didnât you tell me, idiota?â she mumbled with a frown.
âi told you that you had to figure all of this out yourselfâ you said with a big smile. âyouâre annoyingâ she said. âbut you love meâ you responded with an even bigger smile that even alexia couldnât resist as she started to smile herself a bit.
âi really donât know anymore to be honestâ alexia mumbled, but you could still hear it, making you hit her shoulder. âwoahhh. that hurt so muchâ alexia said in sarcasm while you just rolled your eyes at her.
âsave that for later mi amorâ alexia whispered into your ear, making you blush a bit, but enough for the fans to see it.
@ alexia4ever - what did alexia just say to make y/n blush like that?
@ putellasluv11 - you guys are really making me feel so single
@ aleandynschild - cutest couple ever! literally my parents!
âalright, we thought we could answer some questions, so ask a few things and weâll try to answer as best as we canâ alexia explained with a tomato colored head beside her. then questions started flowing in.
âwhatâs the best thing about living and playing in barca?â alexia readed out loud. âyou should answer that, amorâ alexia said, putting her arm around your shoulder, pulling you even closer.
âwell, thereâs quite a few things, but first of all, the sunny weather is amazing, especially when you come from Sweden or the nordic countries in generalâ you started while alexia chuckled a bit at you and looked at you with what the fans called âheart eyesâ.
âof course thereâs more than amazing weather! barcelona has always been my dream club to play for as my parents always cheered for them, making me a fan automatically. so when i got the offer to play for barca, i was so excited and of course couldnât say no to such a big offer. the club just means so much to me and iâm so grateful for all of my teammates that i get to call my friends. and of course, thereâs la reina de barca, alexia putellas. my best friend and other halfâ you rambled, leaning into alexia during the last sentence.Â
âso yeah, basically everything about living and playing in barca is the best thingâ you added, looking up at your girlfriend as she always looked down at you with a big smile. âam i talking too much?â you asked her.Â
âno. tu respuesta fue perfecta, mi amorâ alexia answered, taking some of your hair behind your hair, giving your head a kiss, making fans feel very single again. after that little sweet moment, the two of you went back to answering questions for about an hour and a half while making fans awe over your relationship.
@ ynputellas0 - the way y/n was talking about barca and alexia was so cute, i canât
@ alexiabiggestfan - alexia is being a romantic girlfriend ulalalala
@ lareinaaayn - iâm literally so in love with both of them
@ alelovesyn - alexiaâs heart eyes for y/n are just so cute. i want what they have!

Broken Hearts, Healing souls - Mapi Leon
Based off this request
Word count: 2k
The door unlocked, followed by keys placed in a bowl and shoes being taken off but it didnât make me turn my head .
âhow was the party?âi asked bitterly, finally speaking up and turning towards my girlfriend. For now.
âIt was goodâshe swallowed uncomfortably, feeling the tension in the room, but not knowing what it was from.
she could clearly tell I was upset though as normally when she would arrive home I would jump straight in her arms, showering her with kisses.
but it didnât look like that was going to be happening anytime soon.before anything could be said I shoved my phone in her face .
âwhatâs this?âi ask sternly as she sucked in a breath.it was a picture alexia had taken at the party mapi had been at and while it looked pretty normal you could clearly see in the back mapi snogging a girl with red hair .
I was a brunette.
now I was very aware of mapiâs dating history which had scared me sometimes with insecurity knowing she would jump from one girl to the next after getting bored, but I was reassured I was different.but clearly I was only different because she thought she could jump to one girl to the next while weâre together .
âdid you cheat on me?âi whisper looking up at her .
ây/n..âshe mumbled and I stood up abruptly and my heels clicked against the floor as I walked closer to her .
âno, mapi itâs a simple question.did you cheat on meâI asked sternly taking a pause between each word .
âyesâshe looked down at the ground full of guilt as I gasped taking a step back. I was expecting it, of course but hearing it was come out of her mouth was a different story.
I was baffled to say the least, I had no idea what to say, I couldnât even look her eyes.this certainly wasnât the woman, I thought she was and fell in love with .
âwhy?âŠ.why would you do this?to me?âi ask her, my voice cracking.her eyes flooded with tears, heart breaking from the pain in my voice.
âbecauseâŠâ
âbecause what, mapiâI cut her off sharply and she sucked in a breath.
âI donât fucking love you, okay?!âShe let out and I stopped for a moment, my body feeling frozen but in a numb way before I exploded .
âGet out!Get out!Get out!GET THE FUCK OUT!â
4 years laterâŠ.
I let out a shaking breathe as I stood outside the training centre with the Barcelona crest shining on the side of it .My hands shook with nerves while I kept taking deep breaths whispering, âyou can do thisâ,over and over .
Transferring to Barcelona wasnât one of my plans but despite all the nerves moving clubs gave me a specific one stuck in the back of my mind making me shudder .
More like a specific someone.
âhi y/n, you okay?âi opened my eyes to seeing Jonatan GirĂĄldez, my new coach standing in front of me .
âyes, Iâm fineâlie. I put on a fake smile which he seemed to be convinced by as he nodded his head slowly at me .
âalright, cmon then, gotta get ready for your first training sessionâhe chuckled, wrapping his arm around my shoulder.
âalright girls, this is y/nâJonatan said, introducing me to the team before he sent me off to go join them .I was overwhelmed slightly as all the girl surrounded me, introducing their names all at once which I certainly wouldnât remember.
âhi y/nâmapi said i internally rolled my eyes, I couldnât believe she was doing this right now. I couldnât be arsed to have to deal with her.I pretty much ignored her though, only giving her a smile as we started some drills and despite everything happening, god was on my side and I luckily wasnât paired up with mapi.
âhey, you okay?âmarta whispered to me with a curious smile as she was stood next to me.my eyes were burning into the back of mapiâs head as I watched her .
I knew I technically in this moment she hadnât done anything wrong yet. She just made me unbelievably angry for no reason at all but the girl did cheat on me .I tried to pick out all the things she did that disgusted me but they were all lies.she just looked so undeniably gorgeous.
âyeah, Iâm fineâi said focusing my gaze away from the fake blonde. stop it, y/n you canât go back there.
I caught mapiâs eyes from across the pitch which caused me to shudder. she smiled at me though, unexpectedly but I turned away making her smile falter as I passed the ball back to Laia.
âąâąâąâą
I sat in the corner of the locker room, my eyes closed as I silently cried and hugged my knees against the chest.
training had been over and done with and as well as it went and I couldnât wait to have my debut for this team, my heart hurt, more than ever .
I was convinced pretty much everyone had gone home by now, if someone was here they wouldâve came in by now and the locker room was pretty much empty.
suddenly I heard footstep but I ignored them, resting my head against my knees until I felt a hand tapping my shoulder and sitting down into the spot next to me .
âhey, you okay?âthe voice made me freeze up. I knew that voice all too well.
âwhy do you want?âI looked up at her and her eyes widened seeing my blotchy and blood shot, red eyes.
âplease y/n, just tell me whatâs wrong, I know I hurt you but I still care for youâshe said with a sympathetic gaze directed at me .
I sighed, leaning my head back against the wall behind me. âI hate it hereâi mumbled .
âno you donâtâshe dismissed and I raised an eyebrow at her .
âhow would you know?âI asked her with a bit of sass laced in my voice .
ây/n please, I dated you for four years, I know what your like and I was watching you today, believe it or not and you didnât look like you hated it, you fit in with the team really wellâi sighed in frustration, rubbing my hands against my face .
âwhatâs really going on?âshe asked placing her hand on my shoulder before I pushed it off, turning to her .
âI hate it because you are here!âi exclaimed, now being nose to nose with her .
âI-I donât understandâshe shook her head confused and I groaned .
âwell learn to maps, I had buried my feelings for you so hard in my heart when we broke up because you hurt me so much yet Iâve never loved anyone that much and seeing you here today, four years later, I fell in love all over again and I donât think I can do itâi shook my head, wanting to scream into my pillow and cry.
âoh y/nâmapi leaned down and for some reason I didnât recognise the look on her face as she cupped my cheeks .
âplease donât touch me, mapiâI flinched, forcing myself to look away from her .
ây/n Iâshe started but I cut her off.
âno, mapi, I canât do this, if I keep looking in your eye I will fall in love all over again and I canât go through that, itâs too painfulâi turned my head to the side and biting my lip, to stop myself from bursting into tears.
ây/n, Iâll never hurt you again, I promise youâshe said grabbing my chin again, and I let her this time.
âhow do I know that?âI asked naĂŻvely .
âbecause y/n, I still love youâshe confessed and I closed my eyes shut in fear.
when I didnât respond she carried on. âitâs true and you might hate me even more but I donât care, you need to know. All the girls?their nothing compared to you.nothing.Iâve never liked any of them the way I love youâ.
âmapiâshe knew I still wasnât convinced.
ây/n, Iâm not asking you to get back with me and sleep next to me tonight all Iâm asking is for a second chance, it was four years ago, Iâve changed which may be hard to believe but I want to get you to earn my trust againâI was slowly easing to her way but I still wasnât sure.
âI donât know, mapiâI shook my head but she didnât seem to be giving up.
âmi amore, please? just take it one step at a time yeah? and in the end you can choose alright? so how about coffee?tomorrow?âshe asked with a hopeful.
ây-yeah, I can do coffeeâi nodded making her smile .
âPerfect. Iâll drive us there after training okay?that sound good?âshe asked and I nodded.
âIâll see you tomorrow y/nâshe was careful as she pulled me into a small hug, kiss my forehead and leaving the room after picking up her stuff.
âąâąâąâą
âhi y/n, you alright?âmapi asked me as we met up outside the car park and I nodded silently adjusting my kit bag on my shoulder.
âgreat, letâs go, if your ready of course?âshe asked as I nodded again, she was still very wary of me.
âyeah, Iâm readyâ I whispered as we headed to her car and she drove to the cafe. the whole car ride was silent with me leaning my head against the window, the radio on as Mapi drove to the cafe she was familiar with, which didnât take too long to get here.
once we had arrived, she quickly opened the door and got out of the car but as I moved to do the same, in a flash, she was there opening the door.
âfor the ladyâshe smirked and I got out chuckling shyly. I muttered a small thank you as we headed towards the cafe.
The bell rang as we entered the cafe a few heads turning toward us which we didnât mind our business with.
âIs this okay?âshe asked, pointing to the small two people's table in front of the window.
âyeah, this is fineâ I said sliding into my seat.
âOkay, Iâll go order for us what would you like?â she asked me, leaning against the table.
âumm, cappuccino pleaseâ I smiled and she nodded walking to the counter to order our drinks.
I sighed as I watched her walk away, god I hated her I mean hated her .I hated the way she walked, the way she talked, the way she dressed today, how she looked, why did she have to look so beautiful and most of all I hated the way she looked putting the heart she broke back together with her kind gestures.
âhere you goâI was brought out of my trance with my cappuccino plane in front of me. mapi sat down opposite me and sipped on her green tea.
âyou okay?âshe asked and I nodded, sipping on my hot drink after blowing on it to lower the temperature.
âIâm fineâ I mumbled, placing my cup down on the table.
âCan I?âshe asked apprehensively as she reached to grab my hands. I nodded slowly as she took them on her own.
ây/n, I just wanted to say, Iâm really sorry for what I did and I will never stop apologising because to be honest Iâm lucky you're giving me this chance cause I donât deserve it but I have to try, cause I never stop thinking about you,â she said breathlessly.
âmapi, hey, you did hurt me a lot, but Iâm not closing this off, I can see you actually care and that your putting effort inâ I reassure her cupping her cheeks and she leaned into my hands.
âreally?âshe whispered and I nodded with a smile, it was the first time I had smiled around her in a long time.
âyeah, Iâm not saying you're forgiven but this is the start of a new us and trust me I wouldâve said no if there werenât feelings still there.
âOkay, yeah I understand, but just know this is gonna work y/n, I know it, Iâm gonna fight for usâ she stoked my cheek making me smile.
âso wanna go back to my place?âshe said cheekily as we stood up wrapping her arm around me.
âHey, donât be too pushy nowâ I smiled making her laugh as we walked out of the coffee shop with my head on her chest.
It was the start of something new.
Two fics in one day?me?never

el sueño de una niña (1) II Jenni Hermoso x Reader
part 2 I masterlist I word count: 2175
a/n: dear readers, the inspiration for this oneshot was Jenni Hermoso's speech at the Ballon d'Or ceremony, enjoy. đ€đ
âWait, I know that youâre a football player. Why did you come from my mamis bedroom?â
Jenni was on her way to sneak out of your appartement but when that small voice held her back. Curiously she turned the head around to look into the eyes of a little girl who the Spaniard estimated to be between five to six years old.
That must have been your daughter Mila Jenni thought to herself. It was the big confession after the great night the two of you had spent together.
Something in the reveal activated her flight mode, the forwardâs plan was to leave and never look back. Her life was so chaotic she didnât feel ready to be a part of a family.
Even though everything about yesterday touched her more than Jenni wanted to admit. Images of it flashed behind her eyes capturing passion, beauty and love.Â
âUhm.. you didnât see me, okay?â, the raven-haired woman returned the question flustered.
âBut youâre the Jenni Hermoso, right? The one who won the World cup with Spain.â, Mila looked at her big-eyed, her voice full of adoration.
âYes, but donât tell anyone.â, Jenni replied, pressing a finger to her lips to underline her words.
âWow.â, the little girl whispered amazed.
âSorry, I really need to leave now. Iâve a speech to write.â, the striker apologized.
This didnât stop Mila to confide in the older woman. âIâd love to be a football player like you when Iâm grown up.â
âYou do?â, something of your daughterâs sincerity made Jenni stay despite her announcement earlier that she needed to go.
âYes.â, the girl emphasized.
âHm..â
âItâs a big dream of mine.â, Mila added smiling shily.
âYouâll have to work hard for it.â, the Spaniard told her seriously.
âI can do that.â, your daughter assured her.
âAnd people will try to keep you from it.. they will tear you down and hope youâll be compliant.â, Jenni continued gravely, kneeing down so she could look into the girlâs eyes.
âDid they do that with you?â, Mila questioned empathetically, placing her small hand carefully to the dark-haired womanâs cheek.
âYes. All my life. So, promise me one thing, okay?â, she confirmed.
âOkay?â
âDonât let anyone tell you what you can and cannot be. Promise?â, Jenni pressed a kiss to your daughterâs fingers.
âI promise.â, Mila answered solemnly.
âIf you excuse me now.â, the older woman gave her an apologetic look.
âBye, Jenni. I hope Iâll see you back soon.â, the girl said in an optimistic tone that left no doubt that the football player would return to your appartement.
âWeâll see. Thank you though.â, Jenni answered gratefully.
âThank you for what?â, your daughter frowned confused.
âYou just gave me an idea for my speech.â, the football playerâs face lit up with excitement as she spoke.
Jenni shuffled the pieces of papers once more while someone applied her make up for the Ballon DâOr ceremony.
The writing on her notes was almost illegible, she had scribbled down her thoughts way too quickly on her way to the venue. It didnât matter. She knew now what she wanted to say on stage. Still, she refused to let go of her notes.
âJenni, have you actually prepared a speech?â
Alexias face appeared behind her in the mirror, She was already in her suit, her hair pulled into a low bun.
Jenni was about to complain about the surprised tone of Alexias voice when Patri joined them: âNo way! I thought youâd just start talking like you always do.â
Jenni raised one eyebrow at the reflection of her two Spanish teammates and grinned: âThat was the initial plan but I had a better idea.â
âDid someone spark your inspiration?â, Marta asked innocently.
Once the make-up artist let go of her face, she turned towards them and nodded: âYes. And I hope sheâs watching.â
Her teammates exchanged unreadable glances without saying a word while Jenni walked past them, leading the way to the award ceremony.
For what felt like hours, they sat there and listened to men talk. Jennis gaze kept going back to the clock, willing the time to slow down or the speakers to talk faster so Mila had a chance to watch before her bedtime.
Finally, she was called up on stage to receive her award. There was applause but she knew a lot of the people werenât satisfied with her nomination. She held onto her notes and it all faded into the background once she started speaking about the little girl that wanted to follow in her footsteps, the girl that deserved to have a safer environment to play football in.
Her teammates welcomed her back to her seat with standing ovations. Alexia nodded at her once with a set jaw while Aitana gave her an inquiring look: âYou dedicated it to a young girl? Whoâs that?â
âSomeone I met this morning.â, Jenni replied truthfully as she sat down.
âShe seems to have left quite an impression on you.â, Caroline remarked.
âShe did. Sometimes I wonder why I put up with all this shit⊠but there are so many little girls out there that should have it better than we did back then.â
âI agree with that.â, Alexia chimed in.
Marta nodded in agreement: âMe too, obviously. We had to put up with a lot.â
âLetâs be honest, we still do.â, Aitana whispered.
Jenni answered with new-found determination: âYes but until she gets older, we might have already changed some more things.â
âI bet we will.â, Salma said quietly, before they all went quiet again and focused on the next award recipient.
Much to the surprise of her national and former club teammates Jenni announced at the after party, the alcohol-free wine glass still resting in her hand untouched. âI think Iâm going to leave.â
âLeave?â, Patri repeated puzzled.
âYeah, this party is boring anyway.â, the striker shrugged. The other women secretly thought the same, they couldnât celebrate like the men around them as they were having a national team game the next morning.
Seeing Jenni step into your apartment while she still wore her glamorous dark suit jacket showing a large portion of her skin underneath felt almost unreal to you. It wasnât that long ago when Mila and you watched the ballon dâor ceremony on tv and now she was back in flesh and blood. The football player was even more gorgeous here than on the screen.
Quickly Jenni revealed that the celebrations had bored her which was the moment you told her about your night.
âMila stayed awake the whole time, she didnât want to fall asleep until you were on the stage, Jenni.â
âShe watched?â, the dark-haired woman asked happily.
âYes, Mila loved everything about your speech.â, you nodded thrilled by the fact that your excitement was mirrored in the forwardâs face.
âIâve to thank her. She inspired me.â, she confessed.
âYou inspired her as well.â, you admitted smiling. Â
âEven if sheâs the only one, I reached my goal.â, Jenni beamed.
âTo be fair I think you inspired many more with your words.â, you remarked solemnly.
âI hope so.â, the dark-haired woman sighed.
âTrust me.â, you answered softly.
After a meaningful pause you added. âI almost thought you wouldnât call or wanted to see me again back then you left without a word in the morning.â
âThat would sound like me actually.â, the footballer cleared her throat nervously. She loved to play the game, haunting for the next great beauty to court and lay down in bed with before going on the haunt again, always being a restless player. All was fair in love and football.
âSheâll appreciate the thank you though, itâll mean a lot to her.â, you said while you bit your lip.
âThatâs why Iâm here. I want to thank you both.â, Jenni looked at you sincerely.
âShouldnât you be at the grand afterparty sipping champagne and flirting with pretty women?â, you lifted an eyebrow curiously.
âNot many women there that arenât my teammates. And Iâm not allowed to drink, Iâve to be back with my national team tomorrow.â, the striker chuckled amused.
âI see.â
âAnd maybe I preferred to spend my time here.â, she acknowledged, one hand ran tensely through her long hair.
You considered her for a moment and nodded in the direction of Milas bedroom: âSadly sheâs already asleepâŠâ
âThatâs okay. I could stay if you let me.â
You knew you should have thought about it for longer but you couldnât resist the thought of Jenni staying one more night: âYes, you can. If you promise to say goodbye in the morning.â
âIf I was planning to sneak out again, I wouldnât have told you.â, Jenni half-joked.
You tilted your head: âGood point.â
âSo?â
âYou can stay the night.â, you finally confirmed.
Relief seemed to flash across Jennis face for a millisecond: âThanks.â
âYouâre welcome, Jenni.â
The next morning you were woken up by footsteps on the wooden floor. Your heart sank immediately, thinking it was Jenni breaking her promise so you refused to turn around. You didnât want to watch her leave again. Instead you heard a tiny voice whisper in awe: âJenni!â
âWoah, youâre already awake, little one. Good morning.â, Jenni yawned and stretched right next to you.
She was still here, still in your bed.
âI saw you! Last night!â, Mila said full of excitement.
âYou did? And did you like my suit? Itâs on that chair.â, Jenni smiled, pointing across the room.
You watched as Mila walked over and gently touched the fabric in awe.
âItâs beautiful.â
âRight? Next year Iâll take you and your mum with me.â, the football player said, winking at you as if to tell you that she knew you were awake.
While the smile fell from your face, Milas eyes lit up: âWhat? Really?â
âYes, why not?â
You might have been desperate for her to stay another night but you werenât delusional. Who knew where the two of you were in a year? Most likely not sharing a bed anymore.
âDonât promise her too much.â, you warned the football player.
Jenni was unusually quiet before replied: âI⊠mean it.â
âYou mean it?â
âI do. I want to keep seeing you and her.â, she said with determination.
Milas eyes had been darting back and forth between the two of you like she was watching a tennis match. âWe want to keep seeing you too!â, she yelled happily.
Completely ignoring you, Jenni turned back to your daughter and pulled her onto the bed: âWould you like to see a football game in Italy tonight?â
Mila was bursting with joy: âYes!â
âI mean isnât that too spontaneous? Like what about the airplane tickets?â, you interjected.
âI can take care of it all. But only if thatâs okay with you.â, Jenni offered while Mila put on her best puppy eyes: âPleeease.â
Who were you to deny your daughter such a once in a lifetime opportunity?
With a hesitant nod, you finally agreed: âOkay.â
The day has flown by, Mila and you quickly packed your bag for one night, before following your lover to get on the plane. While the striker was on the team walk, your daughter and you did your own exploring the Italian surroundings. It was like a daydream from which you didnât want to wake up.
In the evening, you could feel from the stands Jennis glances on you who was standing on the pitch with some of her friends. Next to you Mila couldnât hide her excitement seeing her favourite players live. It genuinely warmed your heart to witness and share that special moment with your child.
âPretty girl from next door? Sheâs so your type, Jenni.â, Laia Codina wiggled her eyebrows.
âThatâs why sheâs here.â, the forward winked at the defender.
With a smirk on her face Alexia bumped her elbow into her teammates side. âWho wouldâve thought that Jennifer found herself a family.â
âStrange things happen, Ale.â, Jenni shrugged with her shoulders.
âYes, itâs Halloween soon.â, Vicky threw in teasingly.
âRude.â, the older striker commented smiling.
âVicky.â, the Barcelona captain clicked her tongue reprovingly.
The test game ended in a draw, but that didnât stop Jenni from giving you a passionate kiss.
âThat wasnât very subtle, Jenni.â, you laughed.
âI donât care about subtle anymore.â, she clarified grinning.
âWhat about the others watching?â, you asked her, cheeks flushed.
âThey just love to stare at pretty girls.â, Jenni stated firmly.
âPretty girls, hm?â, you repeated. Admittedly under her intense gaze you felt more beautiful than ever before. She didnât hide her desire towards you and wasnât afraid to show it in the public.
âYes.â, she confirmed.
âKiss me again.â, you requested, your voice slightly hoarse from cheering. Before you even could finish your sentence, her lips were on yours, making both of your hearts flutter.
Everything started with a dream of a little girl which was your daughter, in which Jenni saw her younger self, Mila undoubtedly became her inspiration for the speech. The three of you would now dream together.
Keep dreaming.

Shoot Your Shot (Alexia Putellas x Olympic Gymnast!reader)
A/N: I know itâs been a while but I am hoping to get back to writing again. Hereâs a little Alexia Olympics fic. I hope you guys like it.
The night had been a blur but in the best possible way. Alexia had dreamt about representing Spain in the Olympics for years and to win a gold was always the goal. It was a goal she and the team achieved after beating Brazil in the final.Â
She had truly let loose and celebrated what this achievement meant to her, her team and the people of Spain.Â
Hereâs the thing about Alexia, when she was drunk she became very very confident. So much so that in her intoxicated state she did something she has wanted for do for a while, she shamelessly slid into your DMs.Â
Itâs how she found herself standing in the Olympic village with her hands as clammy as can be the following day.Â
âAle, whatâs wrong?â Irene asked her club team mate.Â
The woman in question could only shake her head. Her thoughts were running 100 miles an hour and she couldnât help but think it was a mistake. Had drunken Alexia stitched currently Alexia up?
âHavenât you heard?â Jenni playfully nudged her former club captain âAlexia here got drunk and messaged Y/N Y/L/N. Thatâs why she is so nervous, she is meeting up with her this afternoonâÂ
Irene couldnât believe what she was hearing. She knew Alexia was an admirer of you, everyone did. The Catalonian watched every single one of your events and if she couldnât watch them live then she would watch them as soon as she got into the locker room.Â
âYou did?â Irene asked in disbelief.Â
Alexia could couldnât speak. She could only nod her head as a form of response.Â
She thinks back to the night before. She had been celebrating for hours and drank bottle after bottle of the finest wine France had to offer.Â
Hola guapaÂ
That is what Alexia messaged you on Instagram. The reason why you even responded is lost on her but she did make a mental reminder to ask you about it.Â
âSo?â Jenni asks Ale.Â
âSo?â Alexia had a dumfound look on her face.Â
âWhat are you going to say to her? We all know that drunk Alexia is confident but sober Alexia is not, she is quiet and doesnât make the first moveâ the forward knew her friend too well. She knew exactly what Alexia is like and once hearing about her quest, she made it her mission to help her.Â
âI donât know Jenni. I couldnât stop talking last night but now, now I have no idea what to sayâ Alexia began pacing back and forth.Â
The nerves were surfacing and they made Alexia feel sick. Not only did she think you were beautiful, you were also the most decorated gymnastic in history. That itself came with a level of intimidation that Alexia was dreading.Â
She knew her friends were trying to help but they were only making her feel worse. She needed to escape but that didnât happen. No, instead of peace she found herself being hit several times by her team mates.Â
âThere she is!â Jenni slapped Alexia extra hard. She herself was excited at the thought of meeting you.Â
âLeave. Now. Pleaseâ Alexia whisper shouted.Â
âNo. Letâs go see herâ Jenni had already started walking towards you.Â
âYou can hide behind me if you get scaredâ Irene teased her friend. It was rare to see Alexia this nervous so she made a point to enjoy it.Â
You were talking to some other athletes when the three Spaniards approached you. You know it was rude but Alexia was the only one you paid attention to. You didnât think it possible but she was even more stunning in person.Â
âAlexia!â You were excited and it came through in your tone.Â
You all but ran towards her. Did you look eager? Yes but you didnât care.Â
âY/N, itâs so nice to finally meet youâ Alexia did something out of character. She pulled you into her arms.Â
This earned looks from both of her friends who upon seeing the midfielders action realised that maybe Alexiaâs feelings were more serious that then thought.Â
âSo we are going to leave you two to explore and are going to meet up with the rest of the teamâ Irene nudged Jenni in the opposite direction of where you and Alexia were heading.Â
Jenni teased that she would only leave if you two took a photo together. It was something you happily agreed to if it meant getting some one on one time with the Barcelona player.Â
You and Alexia agreed on walking to one of the coffee shops located in the village, the one that had become a favourite of yours. Alexia kept stealing glances at you only she wasnât being as subtle as she thought because after each time she looked at you, you felt a fire set a light in you. Â
âDo I make you nervous?â You tried to lighten the mood by teasing a little.Â
âYes. Very muchâ Alexia was scared to admit this. Besides, she knew you knew otherwise you wouldnât be asking her.Â
âYou werenât nervous last nightâ you playfully nudged her causing her cheeks to flush red within an instant.Â
âIâm sorry for that. I celebrated a little too hardâÂ
âWhy are you apologising? Congratulations againâÂ
âI must have said some embarrassing things. Itâs why I donât drink and textâÂ
âHmmm, you did tell me that but then you told me that if you didnât use your liquid courage to talk to me then it would have been a wasteâ you couldnât help but giggle as you recalled Alexiaâs honest words.Â
âI said that?âÂ
âYes. Havenât you read the messages this morning?â You ask knowing that you had read the messages numerous times since you woke up.Â
This did nothing for the way Alexia felt. Should she have read them? Did she say something that needs re-reading?Â
âI havenât. Did I say something bad?â Alexia asked scared of the answer. Â
âYou didnât. You talked about football and asked about gymnastics. We talked about how much we have been watching each other throughout the tournament. Oh! As requestedâ you reached into your pocket and got the pin Alexia asked for. You briefly looked at it. It wasnât the normal Team USA pin, no it was your personal one. The one you reserved for friends and the athletes you respected the most.Â
Alexia looked lost. Her gaze went from the pin, to you and the back to the pin. She learnt from social media that the Olympians traded pins but she had no idea why you were giving her one or what you meant by she requested it.Â
In that moment you realised that maybe Alexia had drank a little more than you originally thought.Â
âYou donât remember asking for this, do you?âÂ
The way Alexia innocently pointed to herself was adorable.Â
âYes, youâ you poked her playfully in her chest âLast night we talked about what we wanted in life and you said to take me on a date and a pinâÂ
âThis isnât the USA oneâ Alexia closely inspected the pin you had placed in her hand. She then holds it up so you could see the pin as if you hadnât seen it before.Â
âNo, it is not. I get asked to swap pins all the time and 90% of people get the USA pins, this pinâ you reach into your pocket and show Alexia the pin in question âonly friends and athletes I admire and respect get that oneâ you point to the one you gave Alexia.Â
The Spaniardâs cheeks flush red as she rubs her finger over your name that was within a gold heart.Â
âGold?â She raises her eyebrows. The whole world expected you to get gold this Olympics, multiple at that. Clearly by the pin you expected this of yourself too.Â
You donât agree nor do you disagree. Instead your response comes in the form of a shrug of the shoulders.Â
âI donât have a pin for youâ Alexia admitted.
âThatâs ok. They donât have to be swapped. Iâll happily give you it Alexiaâ
Alexia stood there in awe of you. She recognised your beauty through the screen but she soon learnt standing in front of you that it didnât do you justice.Â
You stood there is the same awe. Alexia was a sight to behold. You had watched every game of hers you could. Maybe you should have been cheering for the USA but you were raised a Barcelona fan so from the very beginning you wanted certain Spanish players to succeed. She was known as La Reina and now more than ever you understand why. She was a queen. Her eyes radiated under the French sun and you could spend hours getting lost in them.Â
âShall we?â Alexia held out her arm and you linked through them. The act wasnât an intimate as hand holding but it was very sweet.Â
âWe shallâ you wondered if the smile on your face was as big as it felt.Â
For the next hour, you and Alexia walked around the Olympic village trying all of the different food stalls. When you see it, you pull her over to the chocolate muffin stand.
âYou have to try thisâ you peel back the wrapper and hold it out to her. She eyes it up suspiciously as if she is thinking about whether or not to try it.Â
âAlexia, I -â
âAleâ she cuts you off.Â
âAle?â You ask with furrowed brows.Â
âMy friends call me AleâÂ
âIs that what you want us to be? Friends?â You know you are pushing a little bit but this was a date. You were trying to find out if Alexia asks her friends out on dates.Â
She bashfully shakes her head which causes you to nod yours. This ends with both of you having shy smiles on your faces.Â
âTry it. It will be one of the best muffins you taste in your lifeâ it was a bold statement but you stood by it. You had eaten a couple of these during the last two weeks and you had a huge sweet tooth so you felt qualified to rank the sweet treat.Â
When Alexia takes a bite her eyes widen, heR head tips back and you know she agrees with you. The grin that spread across her face when she looks at you is adorable.Â
âThatâs so goodâÂ
She then takes another bite before taking it out of your hands and holding it out for you to have a bite.Â
Time seems to run away from you because the couple of hours that you had planned to spend together pass by and before you know it the sun is setting in the sky.Â
You wanted to squeeze every second out of the night but you remember Alexia telling you that the team was flying back to Spain the following morning.Â
âIâm this wayâ you point in the direction for where you were staying.Â
âIâm that wayâ Alexia does the same and of course her hotel is in the opposite direction âcome with meâ she tilts her head on the same direction.Â
âIs that a question or?â You joke with her. She could have been asking or telling you, you didnât mind.Â
âWell you gave me thisâ she holds up your pin âyou swap them, no?âÂ
You nod your head with a mixture of confusion and intrigue. Alexia said she didnât have a pin. Did she mean that she didnât have one with her.Â
âSo come with me and get your giftâ Alexia, for the first time that day, sounded truly confident.Â
She lead you down the streets of Paris. Like last night the two of you began talking but in person it got a lot more personal. You talked about the hurdles you both had to overcome in order to compete at the Paris Olympics and to do so at the highest level.Â
Soon enough Alexia is grabbing your hand and pulling you into one of the 5 star hotels located in the heart of the city. You expected her to drop your hand when you enter the reception area only she doesnât. The act fills your stomach with butterflies.Â
When you enter the elevator and Alexia scans her room key you realise that she must be taking you to her room.Â
She opens the door and heads straight for her luggage.Â
âI was too nervous to re-read our messages. I thought I might have said something embarrassing. If I had remembered that I asked for your pin them I would have brought you thisâÂ
She held up a red Spain jersey, her jersey.Â
âIs this-âÂ
âFrom the gold medal match? Yes. Itâs the shirt I wore during the first halfâÂ
âAlexia, I cannot accept this. It should be framed or given to your mother, not to a strangerâ you immediately give her the shirt back.Â
âI want to give it to you. Today has been one of the best days Iâve had a long whileâ you give her a look and she knows exactly what youâre thinking âone of the best days off the pitchâÂ
She holds it out for you to take. At first you donât, you canât. Alexia doesnât budge and you honestly think she will hold out that shirt for hours if thatâs how long it took for you to accept it.Â
In the end you do grab the shirt but you also grab her hand and pull her close to you. You lean in and kiss her softly on her lips. Just as you are about to pull back, Alexia pulls you in for another kiss.Â
âNow youâve had everything you wantedâ you say with a smirk of your face.Â
âI donât understandâ the Spanish says.Â
âLast night you told me you wanted three things. The first two you told me straight away and the third you told me just before we said goodnightâÂ
Still, Alexia was at a loss. You told her what she said she wanted and it was only two things. She is about to ask you what the third one was but then she sees you running your index finger over your lips and it clicks.Â
âI told you I wanted to kiss you?â Alexia couldnât believe what she had confessed to you. She would have felt embarrassed to admit just after spending the day with you, never mind last night when you were practically strangers.Â
You nod your head.Â
âWhat if I told you I wanted to kiss you again?â Alexia asks only this time she owns her question.Â
âIâd tell you to come over here and get what you wantâÂ
You didnât need to tell Alexia twice. She strutted over to you with the most confidence you have seen her with that day. She cupped your face and pulled you in. The kiss was a little bit deeper that the first kiss. You slowly push Alexia back until her knees buckle against the foot of the bed.Â
She doesnât make an effort to push you off her. If anything she encourages the passion and you are happy to oblige. Both you and Alexia fought for dominance but ultimately you donât get to find out how would come our victorious.Â
The sound of a keycard been swiped has you both frozen in place but still neither of you make any effort to move. Itâs as if the person of the other side of the door wonât see the two of you if you are still. Â
âALEXIA!âÂ
It seems the the woman who you are still straddling recognises the voice before you do.Â
âPor diosâ Alexia, whose hands are resting dangerously low on your back, taps you signalling for the two of you to get up.Â
When you turn around you see Jenni standing in the door only she is joined by a different player than she was with this morning.Â
âNice to see you again Jenni. Nice to meet youâŠ.âÂ
âMisaâ the keeper introduces herself âyouâre Y/N Y/L/N?âÂ
The Madrid keeper also admired you only she was bold enough to tell her team mates she has a crush on you. Knowing this information is enough to wake the green eyed monster within Alexia.Â
âYes, she is. Sorry about those two. I did text them asking for them to message me when they were on their way backâ Alexia apologises for the interruption.Â
âWe did! Lookâ Jenni shows Alexia the 5 text messages she sent her and then shows that she even tried to called her twiceÂ
âLet them off Ale. We were pre-occupiedâ the smirk that tugs on your lips in enough to heat up Alexiaâs cheeks.Â
The four of you stand in the hotel room waiting for someone else to speak first. In the end a text from your manager makes you be the one to break the short silence.Â
âI need to goâÂ
âNoâ Alexia whispers.Â
âItâs late and you have a flight to catch in the morningâ you move closer to her âthank you for an amazing day Alexia and thank you for thisâ you hold up her jersey.Â
âWhen can I see you again?â The two of you lived in different countries and had very gruelling schedules but Alexia wanted to know that today wouldnât be the last time she saw you.Â
âYouâre in America in the next couple of weeks. Iâll see if I can make it to one of the games so keep an eye out in the crowdâ you kiss her softly on the lips.Â
âWill you be wearing my jersey?âÂ
âI guess youâll have to wait and seeâÂ

It Hits Different (âCause Itâs You) | Ona Batlle
warnings: none
word count: 815
summary: onaâs fingers are cold, like really really cold
a/n: a short something in honor of onaâs first world cup game where she probably froze while playing and i definitely froze at melbourneâs fifa fan festival while watching her play
New Zealand is cold. New Zealand in winter is cold and rainy.
Those are the first few thoughts you had as soon as your plane landed and you stepped out onto the pitch for your first training session in the host country itself.
Now, as you walk onto the pitch Spain would be playing their first World Cup game on, those thoughts are not gone but rather pushed to the back of your mind in favour of one other thought. You are going to be playing in your first World Cup game.
A hand slips into yours, bringing you out of your head.
âHola mi amor.â You murmur.
âHi.â Ona smiles at you, bringing your joined hands up to her lips so that she can press a kiss onto the back of your hand.
You give your girlfriend a kiss on her cheek in return.
âReady?â She asks.
âI was born ready.â You answer, eliciting a giggle from the brunette.
Holding her hand in yours even as you move towards the gathering group of Spanish players, you realise how cold it is beginning to feel.
âAre you sure you donât want to put a pair of gloves on Oni? Itâs 9 degrees and youâre definitely going to be freezing.â
Ona shakes her head, mumbling about how she doesnât like the feel of gloves.
You sigh and let it go.
******
Your girlfriend pushes her hands into your lap, silently pleading with wide brown eyes for you to warm them up for her.
You do so immediately, blowing on them before rubbing each of her hands between yours. Your own hands that are warm thanks to the gloves you had worn during the warm up.
âOna mi amor, put a pair of gloves on before the game.â
âI donât need gloves, I have you.â The fullback cheekily answers.
You roll your eyes and turn your attention back to Vilda who is going through some last minute tactics for the upcoming game against Costa Rica.
******
At half time, Ona doesnât have to ask you to warm her hands up for her.
You do so immediately, pulling her shivering form into your side and covering her hands with yours. Her hands are white with how cold they are and you press a discreet kiss onto the shell of her ear.
Subtly, you push a pair of gloves towards her but your girl is far too distracted by how cold she is feeling.
âStupid rain.â Ona complains and Aitana laughs from where sheâs sitting, next to the both of you.
******
âOna!â You gasp.
You donât push her away only because you know that itâs your girlfriendâs touch.
When you turn around, youâre met with Onaâs grin.
It seems that despite having been subbed off a few minutes before the whistle had blown, your girlfriend hadnât quite been able to warm up on the bench.
She slips her too cold hands up a little further under your soaked jersey with a soft laugh.
âMi amor. Your hands are f-freezing.â
âI know.â Ona giggles.
âI really should have worn gloves.â She adds.
âMhm.â
Youâre barely able to fight the urge to wriggle away from your girlfriend and her frozen hands as she takes advantage of your bodyâs warmth.
âI love you.â She says, her voice quiet but filled with adoration when she realises that despite how cold her hands are, you are willing to let her warm them up with your body heat.
âI love you too. But I can love you while you warm up in the shower.â
Gently, you tug her into the showers and away from Vildaâs prying eyes, where you press a flurry of kisses onto your girlfriendâs face.
Ona hums, stroking the skin on your waist with her thumb.
Wholeheartedly, you tell her, âYou played so well today. Bagged an assist too, superstar.â
âIâm not so sure about superstar, I was just trying my best for this team.â Ona murmurs, a bright pink blush colouring her cheeks.
Sheâs too cute you think.
âOna.â
âYes?â
âYouâre a superstar.â Your tone leaves no room for argument, making even the tips of Onaâs ears flush as she hears your praise.
âOkay.â She accepts shyly, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
âMaybe my superstar can wear gloves for the next game? So that she wouldnât need to use me as her personal heater?â
âBut I really like having you as my personal heater.â Your girlfriend pouts.
âYou can always use me as your personal heater but please mi amor, wear a pair of gloves okay?â
âOkay.â She concedes and you smile.
âThank you love.â
Leaving her with an affectionate and grateful kiss pressed onto the corner of her mouth, you back out of the shower stall before any staff member can catch you.
Further PDA with your favourite person can wait till youâre both back at the hotel.

Maâam do you write for Leila Ouahabi? A writer posted a bunch of old requests she wonât be writing and this one caught my eye: (Leila uses R as a shield everytime ESPWNT teammates scare her)
A/N: Look I wrote a thing after *checks watch* ... actually lets not talk about how long its been.
If there is one thing youâre certain of in life, itâs that your girlfriend is a massive scaredy cat.
As tough as she may appear to people who donât know her very well (especially when it comes to her antics on the field), you and all of your national team teammates know that the slightest noise or sudden movement can make her jump out of her skin.
And since everyone knows this, they all make it their job at camp to scare her at every possible movement.
In the past, you had been completely fine with this but recently Leila has taken to using you as a shield against all of your teammates' attacks.
The first time it happened, you had no choice but to be shocked.
The two of you had been walking down the hall after training when Mapi jumped out at you from an alcove.
Leilaâs hand, which had been loosely wrapped around your waist immediately tightens, but instead of pulling you behind her like you thought she would, you get tugged against her chest as she crouches down behind you and hides her face in your back.
This leaves you staring blankly at Mapi who can barely hold herself up sheâs laughing so hard.
Sighing deeply, you loosen Leilaâs grip on your body and turn to face her.
âSeriously?â
You watch for a few seconds as Leila stutters and stumbles her words, Mapi still laughing behind you.
âSeriously,â you say again.
âMi amor,â your girlfriend tries, reaching out for your hand, only for you to take a step back while glaring at her.
âIdiotas.â
You glare at her one more time before turning and leaving the two best friends standing there.
Of course, word of what happened spreads quickly through the team, which means that you find yourself in the position of a human shield with increasing frequency.
Which, in turn, means that Leila finds herself on the receiving end of your glare with that same frequency.
Your teammates all take any and every opportunity to scare your girlfriend into the dog house.
Even Alexia has gotten in on the action, quietly walking up behind the defender and scaring her so badly that the older woman leaps into your arms.
Rolling your eyes, you adjust your grip on her to hold her more securely and continue walking back to Leilaâs hotel room. Tossing nothing but a simple âbye Aleâ over your shoulder on your way.
In its own twisted way, your non-reactions become a challenge to your teammates in itâs own right.
As time passes and more camps come and go, they come up with new and increasingly outrageous ways to try and get a rise out of you.
Most of them fail.
Ona is the one with the best attempt. Itâs probably because she knows that both you and Leila have a soft spot for her.
It happens one morning at breakfast, near the end of camp, just as you point out to Leila that the younger woman sheâd claimed as her cousin hasnât been seen yet.
Just as you finish saying, Leila begins freaking out saying that something touched her leg.
Rolling your eyes, you lean over to check under the tablecloth to reassure your girlfriend that thereâs nothing down there but you donât do much other than look at your feet before sitting back up.
Unfortunately, Leila continues, to insist that something is touching her leg. So much so that you reach down and move her legs so that their resting on your lap.
Breakfast continues mostly in peace after thatâŠ
âŠuntil you feel something grab your leg.
The first few times it happens, you just shake it away and continue eating.
But eventually, it wraps itself fully around your ankle.
Naturally, this startles you. So in a surprising display of coordination, you pull Leila into your lap while pushing away from the table at the same time.
Thereâs also a very impressive string of curse words that you let out.In the middle of your tirade, you spot Ona crawling out from under the table.
âJoder. Hijo de la gran puta.â
Clearly, you are causing a scene and drawing the attention of all your teammates and the coaching staff but you canât really find it in you to care. Especially not with the way both Leila and Ona are laughing so hard their faces are turning red.
Rolling your eyes at the pair of clowns, you stand up (letting your girlfriend drop to the ground) and begin to walk away.
Stopping just before you reach the door, you turn around and look back at Leila and Ona, who are now leaning on each other trying to catch their breath.
âAlright Iâve let everyone have their fun,â you say, âbut we all remember what happened the last time I joined in on a prank war.â
And with that, you walk out of the room, trying not to laugh at the sound of multiple people scrambling to chase after you.

NEW FEELINGS âą A. PUTELLAS
summary: a new start with your childhood best friend is just what you need.
pairings: alexia putellas x fem!reader, guro reiten x ex!reader.
genre: quite a lot of angst, but donât worry, thereâs also lots of fluff.
word count: 2.9k
warnings: idiots in love as always, them being so obvious, guro reiten is the (nice) ex, crying, reader being sad, some dumb teammates and just a dumb world general.
note: there will be a part 2 to this one! enjoy my first fic in a long time <3
you had finally landed in barcelona after a 2 hour long flight from london, so you were a bit tired, but you were also excited, because you got to see alexia. your best friend since childhood.Â
right now, you were standing in the airport like a lost child, trying to find alexia as it was her house that you were going to stay at. when you finally had found her, you speeded up your walk a bit and almost jumped into your best friendâs arms.Â
âte extrañé mucho!â (i missed you a lot) alexia said, giving your head a kiss.Â
âiâve also missed you, ale! itâs been too long since we last saw each other!â you responded as you let go of each other, still with big smiles on your faces.Â
âyes! way too long!â alexia mumbled, pulling you in for another hug, which you, of course, returned as always.Â
after another hugging section, you happily took your arm around hers as you walked towards her car.Â
as soon as you got inside alexiaâs house, you threw yourself on her couch, your back and head hurting from sitting on the plane.Â
alexia softly smiled at you and also sat down on the couch beside you. she put your head on her lap as she started to run her fingers through your hair. you didnât complain at all. alexia knew exactly what to do to make you feel better after many years of friendship.Â
âthe flight was long, yeah?â she asked. you hummed into her stomach, loving the head massage you were getting. alexia never failed to make you feel like a princess.Â
âyou can sleep for an hour. i still have a few emails to answer, but after that, i have a surprise for you!â alexia mentioned, making you look up at her. her hand left your hair, but you quickly took a hold of it, putting it back on your head again.Â
alexia quietly chuckled at you. âwhat have you planned?â you asked. âi wonât tell you. otherwise it wouldnât be a surprise, idiota!â alexia answered while shaking her head at you.Â
âi hate surprises and you know it.â you mumbled, laying your head in her lap again. âyouâre going to love it. i promise!â alexia told you as you just hummed as yes. alexia then took her computer and started to answer some emails, not forgetting to massage your head sometimes.Â
after an hour and 10 minutes, alexia put her computer down on the coffee table, deciding it was time to wake you up. ây/n, wake up!â she said, shaking you a bit.Â
ânoâ she heard you mumble, making her throw her head back in a small chuckle. "i'm serious y/n! wake up, we got somewhere to be actually.â alexia explained, but right now, you really didnât care, so you keep on sleeping.Â
then alexia did something, you will never forgive her for. she tickled you. you yelled at her to stop and after a whole minute, she finally did. âiâm never forgiving you for that!â you said.Â
âyou will after this surprise, trust me!â she replied with a mysterious smile. you couldnât help, but hit her arm. âyou did the illegal thing. i will never forgive-â you sentence was interrupted, when alexia hit your shoulder, making you gasp.Â
âyou just hit meâ you said in a dramatic tone. âyou hit me firstâ alexia responded with a smile. âbut youâre a powerhouse with actual muscles, so it actually hurts, putellas! thatâs not fairâ you rambled, trying to hold your laugh back as you wanted to look serious.Â
âiâm not a powerhouse, but i do look like one standing next to you!â alexia teased you, her smile growing bigger. âidiota!â you whispered to yourself, but loud enough for alexia to hear it.Â
âwhat did you say?â she asked me, sitting a bit more up. ânothingâ you quickly answered with a small smile. âi heard you say something. what did you say y/n?â alexia asked once again, but in a whisper in your ear, giving you goosebumps.Â
âwhy are you shivering? do i make you nervous y/n?â she asked with a smirk in your ear again, but to avoid the question, you pushed her away and in a hurry, got up from the couch, running away.Â
the plan didnât go well though. because alexia was right behind you and had quickly pulled you into her arms, tickling you once again. you began laughing like crazy and begged her to stop.Â
âthen what did you say about me?â she asked for the third time. âi said you were an idiota.â you answered and let out a sigh when she had finally stopped tickling you, still holding you in her arms though.Â
âsee, that wasnât so hard to admit, wasnât it?â alexia teased. âyeah yeah, whatever. now letâs go. you have a surprise for me, right?â you said in a childish tone, excited for what she has planned for you. Â
âjust wait here. iâll come in a minute with somethingâ alexia told you. âalright. be quick, iâm excited!â you responded, getting a shake from your best friendâs head, to which you just laughed at.Â
after a minute or two, alexia came back into the living room with a blindfold in one of her hands. âdo you trust me?â she asked me with a cheeky smile. âwith my lifeâ you answered, making alexia chuckle lightly.Â
then alexia turned you around and put the blindfold in front of your eyes. âwhy do you even need to blindfold me?â you asked, being even more excited now. âwhat a great questionâ was the answer you got. you groaned at the answer you got, if you even could call it that.Â
âjust trust me with your life and everything is going to be just fine, princesaâ alexia explained to you as she took your hand and dragged you into what you guessed was a car.Â
when you had been driving in the car for about 20 minutes, the car stopped and alexia helped you out of the car, making sure you didnât fall. such a gentlewoman she is.Â
âare you ready for the surprise?â she asked you, excitement in her voice. âiâve been ready for 20 minutes, but yeah, woohoo, iâm so ready,â you answered as alexia pushed your shoulder slightly in a friendly way.Â
alexia then finally took the blindfold of your eyes and you saw the cutest place with delicious food, right in front of a beautiful sea view.Â
âthis is so sweet, ale!â you said, turning around and hugging her tightly as alexia lifted you a bit up from the ground, giving your head a kiss.
âi hope you like it,â alexia mumbled. Â
âlike it? i love it, ale! it really reminds me of our teenage yearsâ you said as the two of you sat down on the little bench in front of the delicious food alexia had prepared.Â
âthatâs why i chose this placeâ alexia told you, making you look at her. âbecause itâs oursâ alexia added with a shy smile, making you look at her in awe.Â
âthatâs so cute,â you said in a low tone. comfortable silence filled the air with sounds of the sea. Â
âitâs been too long since iâve been here. i almost forgot the feelingâ you said, breaking the silence. alexia then gave you a confused look. âthe feeling? which feeling?â she asked.Â
âthe feeling of so much, you knowâ you started. alexia letting you speak. âthe feeling of comfort. the feeling of freedom. the feeling of the past, and of course the feeling of our childhood together.â you explained.Â
alexia looked at your face and noticed a tear slipping down your cheek, to which she wiped away, making you look at her again. âiâm sorry. i shouldn't be crying. i just have so much on my mind at the moment.â you mumbled, quickly wiping your eyes as more tears were threatening to fall down your cheeks.Â
alexia took you into your arms as you tried to calm yourself down. âiâm sorry-â âdonât say that y/n! never be sorry for such a thing. itâs okay to feel down sometimes. i just wished you would have told me that you were feeling this way, amorâ she interrupted you.Â
after you had calmed down, you lifted your head from alexiaâs shoulder, taking a deep sigh. alexia looked at you with worry in her eyes. âwill you tell me whatâs wrong? por favor.â she asked and took your hand in hers, caressing it softly.Â
âof course. you deserve to know everything!â you answered. âfirstly, iâm still a bit sad about the way my relationship with guro ended. we were not right for each other, but still, itâs quite difficult when fans knew we were together and then every question is about our break up and not actual football. iâm so tired of people also asking why, how and other stupid questions, when i just wanna do my job. then some people start making rumors, saying that i cheated on her with you and even some of my teammates start to believe it. and before i know it, probably the whole football world will think i cheated on her and i really did not! we were just not right for each other.â you explained, tears starting to fall down your cheeks again, but you werenât done rambling.
âi shouldnât really be telling you this, but iâve already signed a contract with another club. i canât stand being looked at with those looks from my teammates.â you told alexia, even if you werenât allowed to.Â
alexia immediately took her arms around you in a big hug once again, trying to calm you down. âshh, everything is going to be okay. i wonât let anyone hurt you.â she whispered in your ear. alexia began caressing your back, knowing it always helped you calm down.Â
âletâs just eat some food and look at the sea, yeah?â alexia said. you hummed a yes and looked at the delicious food, alexia had prepared.Â
you two ate in a comfortable silence, but after 10 minutes alexia decided to break it. âso, which team have you signed for?â she asked. you gave her a small smile.Â
âitâs a team that iâve wanted to play for, for quite some time.â you answered. alexia gave you a little smile. âis it barca?â she asked, her smile growing bigger at the thought of you two playing together everyday. your big smile pretty much gave it away.Â
âreally? youâre going to play for barca?â she asked once again, not believing her ears at the moment. âyes-â before you could finish your sentence, alexia had attacked you with a big bear hug.Â
âthatâs the best news iâve heard for a long time!â she mumbled into your hair. âiâve been so excited to tell you!âÂ
ânow you should be prepared for head massages every nightâ alexia said. you wouldnât ever complain about that. you gave her a soft smile and laid your head on her shoulder, enjoying this moment with her.Â
âthanks for always being with me, ale! i really appreciate it!â you told her, locking your hand with hers. âof course y/n! the same goes for you. thanks for always being you!â alexia replied, laying her head on yours.Â
the next month went by fast as it was now known to everyone, including the fans, that you were leaving the club that you had played in for 5 years. you had sat bye to everyone of your teammates with respect, even if they havenât all shown you that for the last couple of months. guro had invited you out for a cup of coffee to just say a proper goodbye and you accepted it and actually had a nice time with your ex.Â
the two of you never had hate towards each other. it was just not in this lifetime you were meant for each other. maybe in another. who knows?Â
when you had finally arrived at your new home in barcelona. you once again tried to find your best friend in the big crowd at the airport. your eyes then meet the hazel eyed woman and a smile automatic found itâs way to your face.Â
after about 25 minutes, you landed at your new house. it didnât feel very new to you though. it was alexiaâs house. she was so nice to offer you to live with her and nala.Â
âthank you for letting me stay at your house, ale.â you told your best friend as you walked into the guest room, that now was yours. âof course. i thought you would like to come to a familiar place since itâs been so long since you lived in spain.â alexia replied with a smile as she helped you taking the last luggage inside your room.Â
âstill, thank you for being there for me when iâm not at my best. i really appreciate it!â you said and gave alexia a big hug. she really was your safe place. alexia gave your head a kiss as always, but it felt different this time. the reason why, you donât know. not yet.
the next day at 9am, it was your first training with your new team, but still, when you stepped onto the field in the sunny barcelona, it felt like you had found the right place. you really missed playing for your hometown. itâs been years since you took the red and blue colored shirt on and to be honest, you couldn't wait to do it again for many years.Â
all of the girls welcomed you with open arms. you really missed this. being a part of a team. some of the girls were your old teammates, but there were also new teammates that you couldnât wait to become close with too.Â
âit seemed like you enjoyed being back home?â alexia asked as you two got inside her car, ready to drive home and make some delicious dinner. âi really enjoyed it, yeah. it just feels right to be back.â you replied with a smile towards her.
days like these passed and before you knew it, you had been in barcelona for 2 months. you felt like everyday was a dream that you hoped never ended. living with alexia had also been a blast. even if you two had known each other since you were kids, you still learned new things about each other and laughed as much as you did in your childhood. you were so happy and the reason why you were so happy was clear.
alexia putellas segura. la reina de barcelona.
she was simply your reason for your happiness. of course sheâs always made you happy, but this time it just felt so much differently than all the other times. you really donât want to admit it, but youâre pretty sure that youâve fallen for your best friend. not just a simple crush. no. you actually fell very hard, it almost hurt.Â
you hoped so much that these new feelings towards her would go away as soon as possible! you just couldnât fall in love with your childhood best friend! like no no no!
âare you alright, y/n?â the voice from the person you just were having a mental crisis asked you. you gave her the most real smile you could find and answered her. âyeah yeah, just a bit tired.â
alexia chuckled a bit at you, before parking the car at your usual spot at the training center. âwe did go to bed late last night. the last episodes of squid game had to be watchedâ alexia said.
âi never would have guessed that you would watch something like squid gameâ you responded as you got out of the car. alexia put her hand over her heart, pretending to be hurt. âyou should know everything about me. youâre my best friend, remember?â she teased you. you just had to make the fakest laugh and afterwards cough for 10 seconds, because all you do is embarrass yourself.Â
âwoah, are you sure youâre alright? i could say to jonatan that youâre not feeling well and are taking a day off?â alexia rambled you as she was worried about you. putting a hand on her shoulder after your coughing session, you replied with a simple, âiâm fine.â
âyou shouldnât overwork yourself!â alexia told you, making you stretch your back. âyou should not say anything. you always overwork yourself. i was just having a normal coughing session, you know. sometimes you get something stuck in your throat and if you didnât know, coughing helps, so-â before you could continue your important speech, alexia interrupted you.Â
â-i get okay! letâs get going. the girls are probably wondering where we are.â alexia said and took her hand around your arm, basically dragging you into the training center. she shouldnât have done that though. your heart couldnât bear to become more in love with this human. how could you stop becoming more in love with her? that is a very good question that youâre not sure you could answer.Â
you could ignore her, but would that help or hurt? it would also be impossible as you literally live together. maybe you should just ignore her at the training and try to find a new partner for the drills. ugh, but that would just make you look so rude! letâs just try to talk more with the other girls, then maybe it will help? just a little bit.

Dreams
Ona Batlle x Reader
Word Count: 942
A/N: Had to get this out of my head.
[WOSO Masterlist]
Itâs clichĂ©, saying you fell in love with your best friend.Â
But you did. And it honestly wasnât as horrible as some people like to make it out to be.Â
Actually, maybe it was more so that the person you fell in love with somehow became your best friend in the time youâve been intimate.Â
Neither of you really remember what came first, the friendship or relationship, but neither you nor Ona really cared about the nitty gritty details. All that mattered was you, her, and the love you had for each other.Â
In the two years youâve been together, Onaâs managed to infiltrate every part of your life. For two years the two of you shared everything. The same friends, the same home, the same love. The same hopes, the same dream.Â
It all started and ended the same. You and Ona, taking on the world together, facing every challenge in your way. It didnât matter how big the hill you had to climb, as long as you had each other, it would be worth it.Â
You and Ona. Ona and you. No matter which way it was spun, it always turned out the same.Â
Thatâs why youâre not expecting it when she utters the words.Â
âIâm going back to Barcelona.â
All it takes is five words for your whole word to come crashing down.Â
Obviously you knew Manchester wasnât forever. Not for Ona. Late nights spent talking about your future, about your hopes and dreams always led to the same place for the Spaniard. Barcelona was where everything started for her. It was where her heart laid, no matter the time spent away or distance apart she was from the club.Â
Itâs quiet in your shared apartment, the only sound being the breaking of voices as you try your best to remain optimistic.Â
âI guess I could try to find a club in Spain. Nowhereâs too far for a Lioness.â
You can tell your joke falls flat by the way Onaâs eyes drop to the floor.
The longer the silence drags on, the more the truth sets in. Ona doesnât have to say it, but you know exactly what sheâs thinking.Â
âYou donât want me to move to Spain.â
Somehow your own words hurt more than what Ona had started with. You feel numb. Sick to your stomach.Â
You shut your eyes, ignoring the painful stab in your heart. âJust say it, Ona.â
The masochist in yourself needed Ona to say it, otherwise it wouldnât count. If she didnât say it, maybe she wasnât going to do what you know sheâs going to do.Â
â(Y/N).â Onaâs gritting her teeth, hands balled up in fists. Itâs easy to see your pain reflecting in her eyes. Itâs cruel, you know, but you needed Ona to say exactly what she wanted.Â
âSay it, Ona.â Itâs the way your voice cracks that causes the first tear to fall down Onaâs cheek.Â
She angrily wipes at her eyes. â(Y/N)--â
âSay it!â
Your voice echoes in the hallway.Â
If you tried hard enough, you could see the ghosts of Ona chasing you around the house. You could hear the way she would laugh as she caught you trying to sneak a midnight snack.Â
You could feel the way her heart once beat for yours.Â
âIâm breaking up with you.â
---
âWhy Manchester?â
Onaâs sprawled out on her back, head tipped towards the sky as you study her side profile. Itâs the night after your first game as a Red Devil. Youâre still wide eyed and star struck by the talent before you, but the shy grin she gave you before she agreed to a night of stargazing still made your heart beat out of your chest.Â
She turns her head, catching the lovestruck look in your eyes. Ona chooses not to say anything as you instantly flush pink, embarrassed at being caught. She shrugs, a lighthearted smile on her face. âWhy not Manchester?â
âI just⊠Iâve heard the way you spoke of Barcelona as the place to be. As the dream.â
Her eyebrows raise in surprise, not expecting you to have watched her past interviews. âBarca is the dream,â she nods. âBut dreams donât always work out the way you want to. Whatâs passed is past, and Barcelona, it was great while it lasted, but it is the past.â
Humming, you settle back down onto your back, more than content with Onaâs answer. From the corner of your eye you can see Ona still staring at you, a soft smile on her face.Â
âYou didnât ask me what Manchester is.â
You tilt your head in question at the brunette, not saying anything but waiting for her to continue.Â
She doesnât.Â
Ona stares at you for a while until she realizes youâre not going to say anything. She nudges you. âWell, go on.âÂ
You roll your eyes as she gestures for you to do as she says. But even you couldnât stop the automatic smile from forming on your face. âFine. Whatâs Manchester if Barcelonaâs the dream?â
âWell thatâs easy.â
You raise an eyebrow at her teasing grin.
âWell Manchesterâs the present.â
---
You should have listened to Ona all those years ago.Â
Manchester was only one place in time, neither the dream nor the future.Â
Barcelona was both.Â
You shouldnât have expected her to give it up just for you. (You never asked her to)
Sometimes the past is worth letting go to get to the future. (When did Manchester become the past?)
Barcelona was the dream.
Ona was your dream.
Barcelona was the future.Â
Ona was your future.
.
You just werenât hers.
