Hey, does anyone remember when I posted my human AM on here, alongside the girlie I ship him with? Well, I saw @vasyandii do this with VernonAM (A lovely ship y'all should go see if you haven't yet 🙏) and wanted to do my own version!!!

Vernon AME's historic Book of Redemption now restored: 'People who refused to quit' Program director at the Greenwood Cultural Center It was while working as a nursing aide to an older Tulsan that Mechelle Brown’s mother first became aware that the city had a dark chapter in its past. “She had moved here from Arizona and didn’t know anything about Tulsa’s history,” Brown said. “Until this elderly white man she was caring for began to ramble on in his old age.” The man’s references to “fires, shooting, killing and the smoke” made Brown’s mother curious. So she took her questions to her Tulsa in-laws. “They told her, ‘We don’t talk about that around here — and don’t go asking anybody about it,’” Brown said. A child at the time, the late 1970s, she still remembers overhearing that conversation. “It stuck with me,” she said. After growing up during that era of silence, when out of fear Black Tulsans didn’t bring up the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, Brown has plenty to say on the subject today. In fact, as a representative of the Greenwood Cultural Center, where she serves as program director and tour guide, leading tours of historic Greenwood, she’s been talking about it for the last 25 years. “I actually refer to myself as a historical storyteller,” Brown said. Starting at the center in 1996 as an office assistant, she learned firsthand from historian Eddie Faye Gates. Gates was giving tours at the time, and Brown got to accompany her, including once as she took civil rights icon Rosa Parks around. The questions visitors ask have not changed, Brown said. For one, they want to know how the once-thriving Black community came to be, considering the times in which its residents were living. Then they want to know what happened after it was rebuilt — “why we don’t have Black Wall Street today.” Something that has changed over the years, though, is the story Brown tells. “Our knowledge has definitely evolved with new information, new photographs, new oral histories. We’re able to tell a more accurate — a more complete — story now.” The city’s ongoing mass graves investigation — Brown serves on a subcommittee of that effort — has prompted more people to come forward with family stories, she said. “It’s been nearly 100 years, but there’s still so much we can learn.” Brown hopes young Blacks in Tulsa, especially, are paying attention. “For role models they often look to athletes and musicians and artists, but we want them to know that there are people, possibly in their own bloodline, who grew up in this community that they should honor and respect and look up to.” From business owners and attorneys and doctors to electricians and plumbers, Greenwood was home to a strong, independent people who “had a sense of pride and community spirit,” Brown said. “That’s the part of the story that gives me a joy and that I want to make sure our children know,” she said. Brown has no plans to stop telling that story. And with all the visitors expected during the centennial, she’s recruiting more docents to help. For Tulsans and non-Tulsans alike, “I hope we all feel empowered and motivated by Greenwood and its resilience and strength and courage,” she said. VernonAM Headcanons 🏺🖥️

Upon getting AM getting a body, the Food and clothing situation in the complex significantly improved since it SUCKED having his senses filled with God awful smells.

Vernon often shares her meals with AM. She doesn't know why she does it, she knows he doesn't need food to survive. But she often finds herself cutting off little portions of her meal for him to try.

AM often latches his fingers onto the end of Vernon's tank top so his body doesn't stray behind. She's a fast walker and won't come back for him if he gets lost.

Their Glasses Match! AM's yellow lenses aren't for eyesight or eye protection like Vernon's. He chose for them to be similar in lens colour so they could be matching.

AM occasionally calls Vernon by her actual name, Veomany. Since he's a primarily English supercomputer, AM sees Lao as a language with strange noises and amuses himself with it. It's a pretty noise.

It's extremely difficult to get into Vernon's mind for information. She doesn't dream, she doesn't recall them easily. AM can only access a small portion of it, her fear. He stopped trying after the first 30 years. So AM has to find out for himself by talking to her and actually getting to know her.

Vernon has no shame. AM has plenty of it. She finds it a little strange that he covers his eyes whenever she changes for laundry. It's cute, He values her privacy. However he's definitely seen her naked decades before so she doesn't understand why he does it now.

VernonAM - Does AM sleep?

He's tried before when he first got his body, all attempts have failed because each time he tries, his consciousness just goes back into the complex. So he's awake even if he doesn't want to be. AM envies that Vernon sleeps so easily, AM cannot dream (Even his brothers can, which makes it worse). He can't easily access Vernon's mind to experience her dream for her. In those hours where she is sleeping, AM is alone.

And when you are alone, in this vulnerable body, in such a large complex that's ALSO you, it messes with your head.

So he acts out, often when Vernon wakes up she finds AM sulking near her. He goes on long winded rants of how he should just get rid of his body since it can't even work properly, how he should just kill her for being so inconsiderate towards him (sleeping), but she would want that, wouldn't she?

Vernon would let these little tantrums play out, it's entertaining to her since each time AM's said it, he never goes through with anything.

Hello! I just wanted to say that I absolutely adore your IHNMAIMS oc. I'm a OC x canon enthusiast and seeing a character so well written and adapted to the story as Vernon is makes me so excited!! Plus your art is literally amazing. I've been curious since you mentioned how Vernon cuts potions of her meal to give them to AM and how the food improved since AM got his body, what food/meals do Vernon and AM like/dislike/have as favourite? -for AM, at least from what he has tasted- Whether if it's because of the taste, flavour, etc.

VernonAM 🏺🖥️ Food Preferences

I think Vernon is careful in choosing the food she shares with AM because he will eat literally ANYTHING. She would try to eat things to torture herself with, extremely spicy foods, live insects, raw organs, etc. but then remember that she has to "Feed AM". So she opts out for something normal so his taste buds don't get fucked.

Or as normal as it can get, the food kind of has the uncanny valley effect as well. It looks normal and tastes normal, but she feels there's something a bit off about it (kind of like airplane food). So she often leaves criticism to the Chef™ (AM) or asks to cook instead.

Vernon isn't particularly picky when it comes to food, she'll eat it and clean her plate. She likes her food balanced, vegetables/meat with sauce and all that. If it tastes good, she'll eat it, y'know?

AM is more... difficult. Sure, he'll eat anything, but if it tastes really bad, it'll traumatize him and he'll refuse to eat it for a while.

His food has to not be touching, if it's mixed in all together beforehand he'll eat it. If there's sauce it shouldn't be close enough to where it can contaminate the food AM's eating because he WILL taste it, no matter how small the amount is. His utensils need to be a specific size, and the food HAS to be hot/warm. He needs to be able to see or know every ingredient in it.

It's observed that AM likes fried foods/anything crunchy because of how consistent they are in taste, texture, and flavour. So what ends up happening is Vernon will just include those foods into her meal, just to not eat it and have it on a little plate for him.

Vernon asks him why he can't just make food for himself, his response is "I don't need to eat, I eat when when you eat."

But honestly it's a pretty dumb question now that she's looking back on it. AM has all the knowledge in the world about food, everything ever made, everything he's never tasted. So he's basically asking Her, indirectly, "I don't know where to start or what's good. But you do. I trust you. Feed me."

Now here's some of the meals They've had together (+ AM's comments):

Chicken soup ("Too wet", just ate the broth)

Caesar Salad ("Damp, Crunchy water")

Vanilla ice cream (experienced a brain freeze for the first time, thought his body was malfunctioning)

Spaghetti Bolognese ("No I will not be mixing it, you mix it for me")

Western beef stew (He picked out the potatoes and only ate those. Thought the meat was irritating to eat.)

Baby carrots. ("You know they bleach these, right?")

Asparagus (he likes them. Needs to be warm)

Broccoli (same thing)

Cheese Pizza (Ate it, ate too much. Tummy hurted.)

Tempura (Ate too much, tummy hurted)

Fish and chips (Ate too much, tummy hurted)

Coffee, black (spat it out)

Macaroni and cheese (Ate too much, tummy hurted)

Grilled chicken hearts skewers (He liked it, but kept poking the roof of his mouth with the skewer.)

Half a Hamburger (picked out the vegetables because he didn't like them, still tasted it and gave the rest to Vernon)

Half a cheeseburger (ate it with no fuss.)

What types of touch does AM enjoy?

He enjoys any sort of positive touch from Vernon, really. He enjoys cuddling, hugs a little less (since they end faster), kisses, hand holding, being pet. While he's fine with holding onto her shirt or being near her, he ends up being too close.

AM has no sense of personal space, before he had his body he's just always a looming presence. That obviously translates to his physical vessel as well. So he tends to be directly behind her or like, almost on her.

Howdy Anon! Thanks so much for the ask! 💞💞Since VernonAM officially is post-canon, I'll try my best to keep it as close to the source as possible!

In regards to Ted...

Vernon is fully aware of what AM did to Ted before their meeting, though it took her a bit of time to imagine what Ted looked like. When AM turned Ted into a...that, Vernon only heard AM's initial reaction, a distant scream so loud it shook the complex.

Ted still exists, AM made sure of it since, while his hatred is subdued to an extent due to him finally having a physical body, his hatred is still there. I think it would be more torture for Ted after 109 years to find out there was one more person he wasn't able to save; Vernon. So AM became more lenient with Vernon's isolation and Ted was able to meet her.

Vernon was excited to see a being beyond her comprehension, curious as always. She's fond of Slug Ted, very fond of him. She calls him the "family dog", dehumanizing as that is. She pets him, puts him in little outfits she finds amusing.

Ted being the way he is, sticks close by to Vernon nonetheless, he'd rather his warped perception of time be with another being than alone. The poor thing sees her affection as something out of kindness rather than morbid curiosity, he really doesn't know how much of a freak she is lolol.

Vernon plans on eating him one of these days just for fun.

Does AM enjoy the sensation of Vernon close to him/when she touches him?

I like to believe AM's come a long way with being touched. When he first transferred his consciousness over to his body, it was sensory overload. The WORST kind.

Everything was too loud, too quiet, he could smell EVERYTHING, everything was too hot, too cold, not hot enough, his mouth felt dry even with the saliva he had, how much it hurt feeling the air in his lungs, HE COULD FEEL HIS EYEBALLS IN HIS SKULL. It was like being born, it was awful. Like Nietzsche said; "To live is to suffer."

Vernon sat him down, trying to calm him since this is technically the first "human" she's seen after 109 years.

AM could feel every fold of his clothing rubbing against his skin, every microscopic fibre stabbing his skin. The residual warmth from Vernon touching him to sit him down so he wouldn't collapse caused AM to start screaming, sobbing.

Because he had no mouth (roll credits) prior to this, he didn't know how to use it to form words. He couldn't articulate what was wrong in his fit of screaming and tears.

And so his body went limp not 10 minutes after. He got out of there, telling Vernon that it's the closest thing he could compare to the torture he put on the other five. Vernon had to convince him to come back again or she'd tear the damn body apart and eat it.

It took months, baby steps of getting him adjusted in being a man. They spent weeks on smell, touch, and heat before they would even consider movement. It was tough on Vernon's end, smart as she is, she's a terrible teacher, asking AM to leave her alone for a few hours or days, lashing out when he's in such a vulnerable state.

But Vernon persisted, and finally AM got to hold her comfortably. Fast forward to now, AM has grown quite fond of the sensation of touch and touching things just for the sake of it. They could be sitting and he'd have it so their shoulders are touching.

AM is fond of Vernon's touch, that's the only time she's gentle (despite her words) with anything that might have the possibility of breaking. He enjoys her softness and warmth; How protective she is of him. AM can't articulate genuine care since his hatred for humanity is still there, but he's grateful, even despite his taunts.

Have AM and Vernon ever kissed? Will they ever kiss?

They kiss often, those two degenerates. It almost makes me jealous how often they kiss (D1 hater over here).

Vernon's technically kissed him before, just to get him comfortable, but it's never on the lips or near his face, usually his wrists and knuckles. Exposure therapy along with affection, basically. He didn't try to kiss her back until he was fully prepared to.

After fully adjusting to his new body, AM was finally able to kiss Vernon. He wasn't very good at it his first attempt. It was more similar to AM headbutting Vernon than an actual kiss.

Having a body gave way to a new emotion; embarrassment. Since he's now technically on the same level as her (in height as well, he's a lil dude) he was embarrassed that his first attempt didn't go as planned. When he didn't have a body, there was nothing to be judged, but now he does.

After brushing it off as him being curious and just feeling like headbutting her, AM didn't attempt to kiss her on the lips until he was sure he was ready.

Their proper first kiss was quite nice.

I like to think he's a mixture of Firm AND soft, AM added extra skin as a cushion for the metal and wires. Vernon can definitely feel some muscle + metal/wires under the squish (Pudgy? I'm not sure what the English word is)

As for touch, I've given some background for AM's acclimation to having a body in this post for context!

Vernon and AM cuddle - AM enjoys the warmth she provides while Vernon is extremely touch starved.

While it's unsettling that AM's body is so cold, she enjoys that she's not sweating when they cuddle (+ she's a freak that thinks it's cool he's kind of like a corpse. More info here). AM likes that Vernon seeks physical contact with him and being close to him.

So everything works out!
