ok so my idea for a bad batch redesign is. What if the bad batch was actually an experiment on transgenic clone modifications. like. really putting the "experimental" in experimental clone force.
Tumblr media
Hunter - Kaleesh genes make his senses sharper, and gives him infrared sensing (and by extension night vision) and stronger hunting instincts - His ears are pointy and taller than normal, but he hides that with his bandana - Has pit organs under his eyes (that's how he senses infrared and electric currents) - His eyes reflect light and have slit pupils - His pinkies work as secondary thumbs
Tech - Kind of a test to see how much of givins' natural affinity for mathematics is genetic and how much is socialized - He's better with maths and has quicker thinking than regular humans - Givin genes make him smaller, pale and bony, so he looks kinda sickly and starved but he's totally normal - The glasses help hide how deep his eyes are - The "balding" look from his original design is now because of his bone structure
Wrecker - Gamorrean genes give him enhanced strength - It also gives him a very strong sense of loyalty, and makes him tend to be stubborn - He's actually a little bit shorter than an average clone, but he's so wide that people think he's taller than he really is - His left canine broke in the same incident where he lost his left eye
Crosshair - Chiss genes give him infrared vision and better reflexes (and red scleras) - Umbaran genes give him ultraviolet vision - He really is just an experiment on expanding the human vision range - He sees infrared better than ultraviolet, and has better night vision than Hunter - His hair is a cool black instead of the usual warm black - He's a bit paler as well but that's because he doesn't like bright places

I unironically think Dagan Gera is such a good fucking representation of the pitfalls of Sithdom and what leads to it. Like yeah he's weird and obsessive and doesn't see the bigger picture. Yeah he's bitter and annoying and needs to fucking chill. We've had too many SW projects trying to convince us Sith are cool. No more cool Sith. Only cringefail loser Sith

OMG, yeah! Thurfian is thrilled Thrawn is back. His favorite punching bag is back on the menu. And he’s not even a little bit surprised that Thrawn’s still shit with politics.
Even with Eli, Ezra, Ahsoka, and Sabine’s help he still managed to fuck up every political scenario he gets a little too close to. Ahsoka tried to channel Padme when that happens, but she still has Anakin’s “if it broke too bad fix it with your lightsabers”, tendencies, so it only kinda works. And you exactly right, that would end with Sabine doing everything she can to keep Ahsoka from ending Thrawn then and there. Tho Sabine would also be pained because this man used to be her enemy, but she’d also be thrilled to share some of her Mandalorian coping tactics with Ahsoka “I’m no Jedi” Tano. Even if it’s finding a place far from people where they can just beat the crap out of the rocks and icicles (if they ever make it all the way to Csilla as a group) to feel better. Also, both of those women need sisters to vent with. Serious necessity of life as a female, not gonna lie.
And that would be the best thing for Ahsoka to bond with Thrawn over!!! And it would be so nice to see Ahsoka’s feral space child side come out full swing again!!! And she totally would, after she recovered from the initial shock of “former enemy now fangirling over her battle tactics” moment!!! That would be AMAZING!!!
One of those days Ahsoka is gonna hear that old familiar laugh and turn around to see force ghost Anakin (and let’s be honest, I swear Fives is a force ghost too, he was 100% hanging off of Echo and egging him on during that food fight in Aftermath) laughing his ass off at their antics. And then he gonna help them make more of a mess. The only one who knows Ahsoka hasn’t lost it the first time that happens (since no one else can see them) is Ezra who’s just shocked that Jedi guy from the helpful lightsaber training holos has suddenly appeared in the room next to them. Queue Ezra fangirl moment. Ahsoka doesn’t have the heart to tell him that same guy was also Vader.
Meanwhile Eli worries that he’s turning into an old cat lady because keeping Thrawn and his +4 rebel bffs out of trouble feels like herding cats!!! Especially with the Thrawn just forgets to eat thing!!! You so right!!! I bet that saved Faro’s sanity after she figured out why Eli has secret snack drawers in every room she walks into. Eli probably misses the days he’d walk in and find Faro standing by the drawer chucking bags of space crackers at Thrawn’s face and ordering him to eat all of them before she talks to him again, using the old “I’ll call the medic, who outranks us all, if I have to” card.
Speaking of cats 😸😋Hehehehehe, why would I change? Pets is my favorite topic of all time!!!! I’m that person who goes to parties to hang with the cat/dog. I love this bonding over pets and blue alien geniuses too!!!!
Tumblr media
After reading Treason again I just wanna say that I'm convinced Thrawn was buzzing with joy when Ezra decided to yeet both of them into the Unknown Regions.

thinking about how the force is outside linear time, per that one post that's escaping me right now, and thus to touch the force is to experience all of it at once, what is and what was and what will be, etc.
and thinking about how like.
jedi grow up knowing each other - friends and family and the overwhelming trust and love and sure, some people are your best friends and some are mere acquaintances, and some people are tinged with grief and maybe you hug them a little more when you say goodbye because, well, sometime it'll be the last time, but that's a gift, too, in a way, knowing to treasure the moment--
and your master is shadowed with grief under the trust and love and whatever else, if you're lucky, and of a species that ages in compatible ways -- they're older than you, after all, and one day they'll pass into the force before you--
and then the last generation of temple raised jedi.
for so many of them, there aren't friends who carry the echo of grief at all. there's hope and worn trust and concern, so much worry, but no grief, and well, you assume you die before them, which is -- everyone passes into the force eventually, and they know this and you know this and it is an unspoken thing that your friends know you will die before them, that your master knows, that your teachers and crechemates know, and that is it's own kind of blessing, too.
you don't bring it up; why would you? why would anyone? especially once the war starts; you go into battle knowing this might be your last and that more than likely this war kills you but it might not kill any of your friends and that is a bit of reassurance to keep against your heart in the trenches, in the dogfights, in the long slow marches through bombed out cities that once teemed with life.
(grief takes time; the moment of realisation takes time.
the fall of the order takes no time at all, by comparison.)

Honestly Mace would have loved Luke and Leia with his whole heart.
yes!!! honestly he's like a grandparent (in the dynamic way, not age way) bc he was harsh on anakin but you KNOW he's much more caring for the twins, like how a grandparent is strict on their kid but gives their grandkid literally whatever. and anakin's like where was this for me

Main thoughts on The Acolyte based on the first 5 episodes.
Seeing a different era of the Republic and Jedi has been neat.
Sol asked Mae pretending to be Osha where her sister was. That and other little things about how he’s behaving with her and looking at her make me suspect he either suspects she may in fact be Mae, or outright know she’s Mae and is playing along to try to get her to the ship easier and maybe get more info, possibly even gain some trust or something with her.
Not to brag too much. But when Qimir first showed up I thought he'd be doing some drunken master shit or something. And I feel I wasn’t far off. Also. Gotta be honest he did look great doing all his crimes.
The force witch coven was cool.
Im really curious where the Qimir stuff goes. He says he has no name but the Jedi would call him sith. Now that can be interpreted a couple ways. Personally? It could be a lie for a few reasons, but considering how confident he was and his stated desire -freedom- I’m inclined to believe him. I admit though, I think it’s more interesting if he’s not Sith but instead just something else or something new.
…speaking of which. I do like digging into more of the Jedi beliefs and potential misdeed. There’s layers of complexity to their practices for sure, but they’ve always been a little bit pushy about their beliefs and practices. They are the only -or maybe one of very few- recognized force using organizations in the Republic, and I think that has some ramifications that are being explored here. They are light users, quasi-monastics, and still a religious organization with political ties. When you look at it together, Anakin being the balance of the force makes sense, even all the main movies show the force is dark and light and both will always exist. The Jedi try to reject the dark completely oftentimes, which is not balanced. The Jedi often act as absolutist and for lack of a better word supremacistic, and certainly it seems like this is a period where that is in full force. I mean, we will see what happened exactly with the witches -which may not have been officially sanctioned but still indicates the presence of a certain attitude towards force users other than jedi.
Also related to above -tbh we needed a paragraph break. Qimir brings up a good point about freedom -even if he’s also probably evil, again we’ll see I guess. However again my point: limiting the force strictly is never going to work long term.
That said. I really enjoy Star Wars when it is willing to interrogate the idea that the dark side is always evil. And this series has, poked at it a little. I’d love to see it poke more. (Tbh the oppositional duelism of the force is a bit simplistic, and I find the ideas that the force is just the force, an undivided energy that has been dogmatically perceived through a dualistic lens for millennia by most of the galaxy but isn’t actually more interesting.)

I am staring DIRECTLY at Film Reroll Luke Skywalker watching and anticipating his next move
#film reroll#the film reroll#Tim Nolan you played him so well!!!!#I don’t think this will happen but this version of Luke is one I can kinda see turning to the dark side??#like think about it. your aunt and uncle are killed. Ben Kenobi tells you it’ll be alright though and that you have the force in you#you can come with him and train to be a Jedi just like your father was#you leave planet and on the way have to put up with this asshole smuggler and even free a serial killer just to get to the rebels#but it’s fine! because once you’re with the rebels you’ll then be able to train with Ben like he’s promised#except you get there and there are two other Jedi candidates. each seemingly better options than you#one is a child who already has pretty good control of the force without anyone telling her how to wield it.#she’s also young and thus full of so much more potential than you#and the other is a woman older than you. but she has so much more life experience. she’s proven herself worthy both to the rebels#and to the force itself. she is strong and basically everything you’re not#but that’s alright too because Ben knows you. of course he’s going to pick to train you!! but then they say your name Skywalker with horror#and you are told about who your father is and how if you are trained and given everything you want you will become just like him#you are evil and violent by nature even though you feel as if you are anything but… except maybe they’re right#because when confronted with this fact your first instinct was to attack an injured man on death’s door#and if Kenobi has his time taken up by training either kahki or Jyn/planning the destruction of the Death Star#Luke is potentially left in a very vulnerable state to stew#I just am foaming at the mouth thinking about it!!!!#(I do feel like Andy will ultimately take Luke in a more redemption/I am not my father by ‘righteous’ sacrifice’ route though#which also has a lot of potential to be delicious)

OH also more kotorposting bc i remembered i havent talked abt hk-47 yet. hes hilarious i love him
#el plays kotor#reminds me of shale. or rather shale reminds me of him#and now that i think abt it shale has to be a sort of homage to hk-47. right#both are constructs who see squishy organic meatbags as inferior to them. both love violence#both have large chunks of their memories missing and u can help both restore their memories... yea#but also just like all the other non-jedi companions hk-47 is kinda weak compared to the. jedi companions#and it sucks bc i wanna have the non-jedi companions with me too...#i wanna have zaalbar and mission with me on kashyyyk for Story Purposes but i keep getting beaten to almost death in every fight hflkdjg#i think i might have to replace mission at least. but no one is as versatile as she is in non-combat situations. except t3-m4#and i gotta have zaalbar with me bc its kashyyyk and he has a lot of personal stuff going on there#but i have no idea if hes supposed to be like. ranged or melee#his massive str and con suggest hes a melee fighter but he has several ranged combat feats when he first joins the party...#maybe i've just built the companions wrong or whatev. oopsie#also its kinda funny that like half of the companions' personal quests revolve around family issues#bastila and her mom. carth and his son. mission and her brother. zaalbar and his father and brother ??#jolee's quest has something to do with his late wife i think? not entirely sure yet#also dont know anything abt canderous' or juhani's personal quests yet but. still#anyway gonna stop talking abt kotor now and actually go play it instead bye

let me know if you need anything
“Hey, Solo!”
Ben looked up. The sudden motion triggered a dull ache in his right eye—he winced.
“Uh—sorry.” Amalia came to a halt in front of him in the grass. The tall, bulky Togruta girl always looked like she was going to barrel right into you, but always managed to stop a few inches short. Back when they’d hated each other, Ben had thought this was some kind of intimidation tactic. But now that they were something like friends, he realized that she was just…well…awkward as heck.
Amalia peered at him and at his covered eye, then tapped her own cheek. “You look like one of the deep space pirates.”
“Wow,” said Ben, deadpan. “I’ve only heard that about five hundred times since I came back to Jedi school.”
“What’d they do to you, huh?”
Ben juggled the air with his hands, trying to figure out how much detail to go into. “Uh…they cut my eyeball open, and sewed a synthetic band into it to hold it together and make it stop falling apart. Basically.”
“Whoa. Sounds gnarly, dude.” Amalia paused. “…Can I see?”
Ben laughed. “Bro. Do you want to see?”
“I mean? Kinda? Will you like, die if it’s exposed to air?”
“Listen, I’ll show you, if you want to freaking see so bad.” He lifted the patch. He had to manually pry his eyelids apart—they were still swollen. He closed his left eye, just to see how well he could see her—everything was sort of a bright, slanted blur.
Amalia made a face. “Ew. It’s all red. Is that blood? Nasty. I see a coagulated mass of—something. There is straight-up slime in your eye, dude.”
Ben put the patch back on. “Yeah—I’ve been trying to, like—cry it out, but I can’t think of anything sad enough to make me cry. I dunno. I’ve had a hard time feeling emotion lately, in general.”
He said it, and then realized he hadn’t wanted to say it. He backtracked as quickly as he could.
“But now that you’re here, Mal, all I gotta do is look at your ugly mug,” he quipped.
Amalia rolled her eyes so hard she pretty much just rolled her whole head. “Hardee har har. Have you looked in a mirror? Geez, Solo, you can’t say shit like that to girls.”
“Oh—you’re a girl? Oh my Force, I didn’t realize. Sorry, miss.”
She wound up and punched him in the arm. Hard.
“Ow! Bruh. I’m already injured.”
“Well, you weren’t injured enough,” Amalia huffed. “Fixed it for you.”
“I’m telling Uncle Luke.”
“Yeah, go run and tell your Uncle Luke. Pissbaby.”
Ben tried to think of something clever to retort, but then his eye started hurting again, and he felt kind of sick. He hissed and lowered himself down into the grass, which seemed to initiate a truce.
Amalia leaned down. “You okay, bro?”
“Yeah—fine.”
“Are you still allowed to train and stuff?”
“I’m not supposed to do any ‘strenuous activity’ for four weeks.”
“Well, you were never getting any, anyway,” Amalia snickered. “Now you just have an excuse.”
Ben wrinkled his nose. “Ew. No, I mean…”
“Does lifting rocks with the Force count as strenuous activity? You’re not technically lifting them physically.”
“Eh. I always give myself headaches when I do that normally, anyway, so…maybe just littler rocks.”
“When are you gonna be able to see again?”
“Out of this eye?”
“Yeah, well, which eye do you think I’m kriffin’ talking about, dumbass—“
“I don’t know.”
“…Damn.” Amalia sat down next to him. “Sucks.”
“Yeah, I mean…I know it’s gonna be months. Maybe a year. And I don’t even know if it’ll ever be the same. Probably not.”
Amalia twitched her lips to one side. “Does it bother you?”
“Like, what, the pain? Or…”
“No, like…losing your vision. Like, coping with the loss.”
Ben shrugged. “…I dunno. Sure ain’t the biggest thing I’ve lost. It’s hard, I guess, knowing you’ll never be the same, but…I was already never gonna be the same, so…” He trailed off.
Amalia nodded at the horizon, picking a blade of grass apart with her fingers. “Yeah…I get how that is.”
They sat there in silence for a few moments. A low breeze came and rustled the grass.
“…Maybe I’ll gain some kind of extra Force sensitivity,” Ben said hopefully. “To compensate. Or something.”
“Yeah,” said Amalia. “Or…maybe you won’t, and you’ll just be half-blind.”
Ben threw her a tired glance. “Thanks, Mal. You’re a real pal.”
“What can I say? I try to offer a realistic outlook on life.”
“Hm.”
“But, for real though…let me know if you need anything. Okay, Solo?”
Ben raised an eyebrow. “Like what? Another punch in the arm?”
“Well, yeah, if you need that, I’m your girl. But, uh, seriously. Like if you need to talk, or…” She gestured vaguely at nothing.
“No offense, Mal? But you are not great at talking.”
“Hey. Never said I was. Just said that I would. Or if you wanna, like, just go throw rocks in the pond together, or something. Go look for weird bugs. Climb that cliffside Luke said not to climb. You know?”
Ben smirked. “Ha. Okay. Yeah. Gotcha. And then I’ll bang my head real hard, and knock out my other eye.”
“Exactly. You get me.” Amalia stood up and dusted the grass off her tunic. “Well…I’m on kitchen prep with Fannie and Meliko tonight, so…guess I gotta go. Do an extra meditation for me, will ya? Fannie drives me nuts.”
“Really? She’s so nice.”
“Yeah,” Amalia scoffed. “That’s what drives me nuts.”
Ben snorted. “Well, okay, Mal. See ya at dinner, then, I guess.”
“Will you see me though?”
“Dude, shut up!”
#looking into the multiverse and ben solo’s eye gets fricked up in every one#except for the askbensolo canon because. yeah I project onto him but that would just be embarrassing.#amalia#my writing#ben solo#askbensolo#(kind of)#ok what I don’t get about my own au and my own oc is:#amalia is supposed to be Luke’s first and best student but like. how.#her character is so…not light side so how was she the most accomplished jedi.#me. explain.#maybe she just knew all the correct jedi teachings but never figured out how to implement/embody them#maybe that was what was so frustrating for her. knowing all the right answers but not feeling like it clicked for her.#anyway so I know there are canon jedi students now but I MADE MY OCS FIRST BEFORE THAT#that makes my OCs more real than the canon ones. that’s how that works.#nah just kidding but what I mean is I’m too attached to my OCs now to get into the canon jedi students#sometimes…I wonder…if ben and amalia are shippable#I think she kinda likes him#I think he sees her as one of the guys#I think they would be extremely toxic to each other and it would never work#I think they’re too similar of people and don’t have enough to offer each other as complements#and also that they’d literally kill each other#it would be hilarious if they like. tried dating once.#and then for the rest of their lives joke about how terrible of an idea it was#amalia’s such a disaster. like. even worse than ben. somehow.#I honestly kinda hated her for a long time#mostly because she’s based on me in ways that I hate lol

Man, Star Wars has such a great lore, I wish more of it was in the movies
"the jedi don't have therapists-"
jedi philosophy, and in particular the practices and teachings that jedi were expected to implement in their everyday lives, was therapy. dialectical behavior therapy (dbt), to be exact. anyone who's familiar with dbt knows where i'm already going with this, but like genuinely look up the basic tenets of dbt and it's identical with what the jedi were doing.
dbt, to put it simply, is a specific therapy technique that was designed for ptsd and past trauma. it's pretty different from traditional talk therapy. it combines a few different environments (individual, group, etc.), recognizing that no single format of treatment can stand alone.
the key focuses of dbt include:
emotional regulation- understanding, being more aware of, and having more control over your emotions
mindfulness- regulating attention and avoiding anxious fixation on the past or future
interpersonal effectiveness- navigating interpersonal situations
distress tolerance- tolerating distress and crises without spiraling and catastrophizing
i'm sure it's already clear from that list alone how much the jedi teachings correspond with the goals of dbt. the jedi value, teach, and practice the following:
identifying and understanding emotions
mindfulness and living in the present
compassion, diplomacy, and conflict resolution (on interpersonal scales, not just planetary or galactic)
accepting and tolerating certain levels of distress or discomfort (particularly mental, such as discomfort at the thought of losing a loved one to death)
idk man seems almost as if jedi mental health practices and dbt are two sides of a completely identical coin. (fun fact: both star wars and dbt are products of the 70s.)
and guess what? dbt was specifically designed as a treatment for borderline personality disorder. remember that one? or, if you don't, maybe you remember a specific character, the one who was literally used as an example by my professor in my undergrad psych class when she was teaching us about bpd?
Tumblr media
tldr: simply existing within the jedi community, practicing jedi teachings, surrounded by a support network of other jedi of all life stages, was the therapy for anakin. even when viewed through a modern lens. it was even, more specifically, the precise type of therapy that has developed in modern times to treat the exact types of mental issues he was struggling with.
#for clarity i'm not trying to be ironic or a smart-ass here#i love the whole run-down on the jedi and their parallels with good mental health practices/queer community/non-western cultures#but i really do wish if more of that would be obvious from the prequel-trilogy and not just in material i'm admittedly not well-versed in#like i genuinely prefer the image this post conveys of the jedi and will build into my vision of them#but also i'm someone who mostly only saw the main movies#and it's way too easy to see the jedi council as some uptight kinda distant old people who scold a child for missing his mother#not saying they were villanious or deserved to be killed or even brought it upon themselves#there was obviously a lot of manipulation from a genuinely malicious party involved in Anakin's downfall#but they don't come across anything near to be competent in dealing with Anakin's issues like this posts says they were#again i'm GLAD all this supporting material exists out there#but when supporting material changes this much of the context that's a really bad case of All There In The Manual IMO#i mean yeah the jedi are flying wuxia monks with glowing swords of course i want them to be cool and diverse and queer-coded#but especially with how big a franchise SW is i think it's fair criticism that if all that stuff is there it could be showed off a bit more#like what the second posts says seems extreme but also if someone is only familiar with the main movies like me#it's easy to see the jedi's treatment of Anakin as the path to hell paved with good intentions
