Marauders BBC merlin AU
But they all live happy ever after ❤️
Arthur: Marlene McKinnon
Merlin: Dorcas Meadowes
Morgana: Pandora Lovegood
Gwen: Lily Evans
(Uther: Marlene’s mom)
And now based on that im thinking
Lancelot: Mary MacDonald
Gwaine: Probably Barty Crouch Jr (Since he’s technically closest to Merlin I was thinking one of the skittle but personality wise I think it’s better off with him?)
Leon: James Potter
Percival: Sirius Black
Elyan: Peter Pettigrew
If I was making it sad I would obviously put Peter Pettigrew as Mordred 🤭 but we are not so
Mordred: Evan Rosier
Not sure what to do for Regulus and Remus honestly, I’m thinking of like Sirius backstory being that his family turned against his village or some shit?? Or he thought they all got murdered bcs of magic but turn out not (might be the villains of the story?) -> Regulus could change camp and start working with The Knights instead ? (Maybe Jegulus since I’m we’re doing Pandalily)
For Remus I’m thinking similar vibe to Merlin? Could be Regulus attendant or smt!!
Oh also
Gaius: Maybe like hmmm idk
The fucking dragon: himself but also could be funny if it was Dumbledore
Anyway it’s been a while so some of it is hazy, if you watched Merlin recently feel free to add to this so it’s more accurate lmao

AUGUST
— ୨୧₊˚ the first meeting of the order of pheonix
ohhhh that was excitingggg. the first meeting that we went to was at the burrow (weasley' house) there we met molly and arthur (they are super lovely, molly is such a great person AHHHH i could talk about her for hours) she was around but did not take that much part during the meeting because she needed to take care of the kids (fred & george were born in april!). so yup we also met alice and frank longbottom they are very nice and i really catched up with alice. also we were surprised but we saw marlene and dorcas there too, also after like 30 minutes james and lily showed up. alastor moody was there, peter, gideon and fabian prewett - they are molly's brothers! very nice and it was cool to meet them, they are joking around sometimes, james catched up with them :))
there was also edgar bones, cradoc dearborn, dedalus diggle, elphias dodge, aberforth dumbledore (he did not speak much and we did not approach him lmao), rubeus hagrid (which we knew from school of course, it was nice meeting him again because he is sooooo positive he always tries to make everyone smile, which sometimes piss off alastor but who gives a shit lmao) first meeting was a pure chaos, everybody tried to get to know each other, some people we knew from school but only by seeing them at the table etc., like molly, arthur, alice and frank. they were in older classes so we didn't know them that much. remus got to know arthur more, as well as i got to know molly!
finally dumbledore arrived, everybody sat down, and we had this huge debate on what should we do, what do we need to focus on etc. moody said that he will choose some of the younger ones (so me, remus, sirius, james, lily, meadows, dorcas, peter) to train them even more, he then approached me and said that me and james have great potencial (or something like that) and that he heard that i want to be an auror so this will help me blah blah blah. so yup i will be trained by moody y'all
and also sirius finally started to take the events of war seriously, he was trying to get into the topic, he asked what he could do etc.
SEPTEMBER
omg guys me and remus met those super nice ladies that are our neighbours :))) they are super cute goooosh i love them so muchhh
they live literally next to us and one day when i was in the garden and remus was at the order meeting with james, this lovely lady waved at me and i was like "girllll who are you" like it was the first time i saw her EVER she literally appeared out of nowhere, but she started talking that it's nice to meet me so i just continued talking with her and we really catched up and she invited us for a tea to get to know each other, but at first i was like “dumbledore said that we should be careful” and then i was like “fuck it” and went to her and we talked for maybe 3 hours so her name is sophie edinson she is 72 and she lives in the house with alice murron 💗 she was mostly telling me about herself and that she worked at the hospital few years ago but she left the job to live in yorkshire with alice 😽
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
— ୨୧₊˚ about sophie and alice
okay so there is some info that i would like to share with you about them, because later i will probably forgot to mention like half of things that i will tell you now, or i will just skip some situations because they will not be important later on :)))
1. sophie and alice are together! sophie is a lesbian and i bet that alice is bi but she did not mention it or i just forgot 😭
2. i did not script them! which is super funny and i love them so much literally THANK YOU UNIVERSE
3. sophie is a which! i found out by accident when i saw her work with magic i her garden, and when i said to her later that me and remus are wizards too, she laughed and said “i KNEW IT!” so the hospital she worked in was st mungo’s 😭
4. sophie was in hufflepuff 🌟
5. alice is a muggle 💘
6. remus LOVES them. especially their cakes LMAO
7. sophie knows dumbledore and dumbledore knows sophie! i have no idea how but it is what it is lmao
୨୧
so that's how mostly it looked like - we were at the meeting of order, we were taking care of ourselves, we were spending time with sophie and alice, we were listening to vinyl records. alsooo i started my "training" with moody, so it's extraordinery experiance too
O C T O B E R & N O V E M B E R
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
in october i went to my first ever mission from order it wasn't dangerous, but it was still something! i was there with marlene and gideon prewett, there is not much to talk about here because nothing really happened
james and lily got engaged!!!!! LITERALYY AAAAAAAAAAAA
they told us during one of the late night talks after order meeting by the end of the month, and when i tell you, EVERYONE WERE IN SHOCK. then sirius started jumping at james' head, everyone started cheering (i mean everyone that were there lmao) we put on some music and started dancing. it was a really nice moment 💘💗 in october remus went on some missions from order, those were really small ones so everyone were fine.
in november it was mine and sirius birthday, so we had a little party in my house in yorkshire, it was a quiet one, we put some music on and just talked. i think that because of time (i mean the wizarding war) everybody were too sad and concerned about what is happening around us yk.
but from good news - sirius and marlene are dating, it's another thing that i did not script and i was pretty shocked but yup here you go.
D E C E M B E R
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
when i tell youuuuuuuuu living in yorkshire in the 70s during winter is the best thing ever 💘
christmas
me and remus invited alice and sophie to spent christmas with us, they agreeded so we had a very nice christmas eve :)) the next day we visited james and lily, then we went over to sirius, who is apparently living with marlene. also we had a meeting of order during christmas, i spent some time on training with moody too, it was very nice, we ate dinner together at the burrow, and i need to tell you this - MOLLY IS A GENIUS OF COOKING. THE FOOD WAS SO AMAZING OH MY GOOOOOOOD. she is wonderful my god 😭😭
i bought a piano to my house in yorkshire because both me and remus can play and we were talking about it how nice it would be if we would have one - so i decided to buy one
for the new years eve sirius and marlene invited us over, we had a good time there, yk, laughing, dancing, celebrating, so it was a good beginning of 1979... or was it???? i wouldn't say so lmao
1979

J A N U A R Y
it was probably the longest winter i have ever experienced in this dr or any dr ever, literally it was so cold and snow was everywhere until the end of march, so IT WAS PRETTY LONG but still
also during january remus had a pretty bad full moon and wasn't able to do anything properly for a week and a half so he skipped meeting of the order, because he just lied down for 10 days after the full moon night, james, lily (because she knew after remus told her like a year before this) and sirius went over to see him, he was just saying that they should no tsee him like this etc., sirius literally mocked him and told him to not be stupid lmao
i died my hair brown this time! but i got back to blonde after like 2 months lmao
we were finally sent for a bigger mission from order, and, hi guys, i thought a fucking voldemort. literally. he was there. and when i tell you, i think nothing ever could prepare me to see him and FIGHT HIM? like bro wtf. i was there with james, lily, frank and alice ONLY, there were like 4 death eaters including tom riddle. pretty scary experinace, no doubt, but everyone went out of this situation in once piece, so everything was fine!
about peter
you might ask, why i do not talk about peter here?
because he does NOTHING. literally NOTHING. he is just there - on meetings etc, but he does not talk to anybody that much, he is just existing in order. his magic is useful he has been on missions with moody and albus's brother, but still. when i tried to talk to him, he quickly ended the convo, so i was like "ok, you don't want to talk, i don't fight it" so i just stayed that way. he talked to james more than anyone else, so if he told james something, james was telling it to us when we were meeting each other or smth. so that's why i literally do not talk about him here. because he doesn't do anything useful or interesting either.
that's how it goes
F E B R U A R Y & M A R C H
those were quiet months, nothing really happened, it was the time that also death eaters quiet down a little because there was so much mess happening because of their actions, yk there was a huge possibility that they would get caught, so they decided to hide. in march we celebrated (quietly but we did) remus' birthday! and guess who finally showed up??? PETER. he finally decided to meet up with us + marlene and dorcas
A P R I L
alice and frank were attacked by death eaters AND voldemort, they escaped but they were really tired after all, they needed to change houses because death eaters knew where they lived, so, for almost whole april they lived with weasleys at the burrow, until it was safe enough for them to buy something new.
M A Y, J U N E & J U L Y
during may and june, remus was on one mission with james, but they really did nothing for the whole week and i was just there sitting all alone and shit, well nothing happened, OH YUP SORRY i found out that sophie is a 1000000% a witch, and because of this we spent even more time together, especially when remus wasn't around
well
in julyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy something happened.
we (me and sirius) got a freaking letters with this black stamp with this "emblem" of our family tree, and holy shit, i could not be more stressed while opening a freaking letter.
oh my god guys
orion black is dead, he killed himself.
like ??????????????????????????????????????????
i mean, we both did not cry or smth, he was awful, but still yk? i mean when you read it i think we all know what happened. and we didn’t know this because nobody told us until sirius found out in azkaban
that regulus black is dead
so yup
it started to get really weird for us, because we couldn’t contact anybody from family except for andromeda, but we decided not to because we knew that she may be in danger because of us after that, so we didn’t do so
AUGUST
guys guess who fought with voldemort again!!! (never again please) i was there with remus james and lily, also moody joined us literally in the middle of this fight or whatever that was
i mean i think we more fought death eaters than voldemort but still, he was there so it counts i think 😭
i think that literally after fighting death eaters i can do anything in this dr, like, are you kidding me? and when i think that after some time i could be working in the ministry, what the fuck i guess 😭😭😭
1979 was a very nervous year, because of many things so i will point them lmao
1. remus’s full moons were very bad for him, like never. it was probably the worst time of his life and when he told me that i believed him right ahead. it was like a torture for him ☹️
2. the house of black was falling apart, and you know, after we got letters that told us about the death of orion, and that he killed himself, sirius was wondering why, because it was not in his style to just kill himself, so we had a feeling that something bad was happening at grimmuald place, and it was weird because me and sirius did not talk about it at all
3. the amount of times we had to fight with death eaters and how the amount of those attacks increased in this year
「 ✦ end notes ✦ 」
hi 😜
i’m already in halfway through part 3 so it will be out soon enough 😽 thank you all so much for all the support that you gave me because i would never though that on my silly little blog about me shifting there will be 550 of us?????????? literally WHAT 😭 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷 love youuu and see ya 😜
also i know that there are many mistakes (i mean grammatical and shit) and i will edit it after i will publish part 3 lmao 💗💘

I have a little mini challenge for you and you can’t veto it!
Stick the following Brumous couples with someone else other than who they’re paired with (you can’t use someone who is dead):
Harry x Ginny
Ron x Demelza (I know it’s endgame)
Sirius x Tegan AND Sirius x Marlene (you can put Sirius with any of them)
Remus x Tonks
Arthur x Molly
Andy x Ted
You made this unnecessarily hard by banning dead people. I am in my right mind to ignore this rule. 🤣🤣🤣
First up, the easy ones.
Harry/Ron: There is at least one universe in which these two are together. You cannot change my mind.
Ginny/Demelza: Again, there is one universe these two are together. There has to be a universe where you are just getting it on with your bestie. You can't change my mind.
Tonks/Sutton: She is so sunshiny that she needs a slightly grumpy man. While Sutton isn't self-deprecating like Remus, he's not happy-go-lucky either. Plus, he's older than her and she digs older men.
Andy/Hugh Slughorn: Andy and Ted are soul mates, right? So, the only way she's not with Ted is if she followed in the Black family footsteps and was a good little pureblood girl like Narcissa. Who better than a pureblood from the Sacred 28 who isn't a raging blood purist but wildly successful? IF YOU KNOW YOU KNOW. If you don't, well, then you haven't read all my stories. 😂😂😂😂
Arthur/Random Muggle Girl: I could totally see Arthur meeting some Muggle girl and falling head over heels in love with her. He'd be FASCINATED by everything. She'd find him endearing.
Now, onto the hard ones.
Sirius: He's hard in my mind. My first thought was, of course, James, because if any of them dated in that group it would be James/Sirius and NOT Sirius/Remus. But you said no one dead. I could see him getting with some random Muggle girl to stick it in his parents' faces.
Tegan: She's hard as well because her entire schtick in Brumous is that she can't move on from David and she's just a serial dater. I can't see her dating any Auror because it would remind her too much of David. Being an Auror, I could see her becoming close to some lawyers. So, I'll pair her with Magnus Shacklebolt who is only a year younger than her.
Marlene: I want to just say Charlie because if you know you know, but that seems like such a cop-out answer and we all know about hot girl Christmas on here. I could see her dating an Auror because of her family connection to Aurors. She'd know a lot of them thanks to her dad and brother. I could see her dating someone like Axel Lowe who is charismatic and friendly.
Remus: I know you said no one but seriously... no one. Remus is a major commitment-phobe. The only reason he even had a relationship with Tonks was because she was fucking in-love and wouldn't give up. She wasn't about ready to let him wallow either. So, I'm breaking the rules and saying I legit cannot see Remus with anyone except for Tonks. He'd die alone.
Molly: I think Molly would have married a pureblood, not because she's a purist or anything but just because the Prewett family is a part of the Sacred 28 and it seems like something Aunt Muriel would advocate for. I don't think it'd be any DE line, but perhaps an Abbott or Longbottom or a Macmillan.
Ted: He obviously likes the mysterious girls. I think Andromeda probably had an air of mysteriousness about her. Proper and gorgeous and tall. Yet, there was a soft side to her and she laughed in a way he never expected. So, it couldn't be anyone in Hufflepuff or even Ravenclaw. I could see him either getting with another Slytherin girl from a prominent family but not a blood purist because he reeks forbidden love or I could see him being with a Gryffindor who was fierce and fiery.

this is full of spoilers. (crimson rivers!!)
just wanted to post my bookmark notes on this because its the longest one i've ever written - and it's mainly just things that stood out to me, and has so many spoilers so warning!!!
This was actually one of the most amazing fics ive ever read - every single detail was perfect. I hardly even have the words to talk about how beautiful it was because it was so very lovely and I think it's genuinely one of those things that's changed me forever.
starting from the beginning, evan and his death and how even though regulus and evan didn't know each other for long, evan was such an important person in his life and helped him through so many hardships. The full circle at the end was fucking beautiful as well. The scene where regulus tips himself into the river and is ready to die, while james is ready to drink the poison. that was fucking amazing.
Pandora and Dorcas the whole way through were amazing - just a side note. Remus and sirius' whole relationship was so beautiful, remus learning how to be himself and to be free again, sirius learning how to be true to himself and be more present and all of that. omfg.
before we move on, the whole entire devastation that circled regulus and james' relationship while they were fully just a symbol to the hallow. I cannot describe the amount of pain that brought me.
The second round of the hunger games. fuck me, man. sirius once again volunteering and regulus going in anyway when he volunteers for james. goddamn. That whole part where regulus keeps saying to james "everything I do in the arena is for you, james" like I cannot do that. His whole plot of getting sirius to kill him so james would have sirius and sirius would be able to live. regulus' whole plotline is so fucking devastating but i am so glad he got a happy ending. WITH THE BOOKSHELF AND DANCING IN THE FIRELIGHT. sobbing. also that scene where sirius realises and HAS ALMOST KILLED HIM. yep that one broke me.
another quick mention to all the times sirius slipped away into his own head and remus knew and took care of him, even in the wedding? cutest thing ever.
oh my goodness, when remus and regulus were in the Phoenix and james and sirius weren't there, heartbreaking at all times.
AND IN THAT WHOLE SECTION OMFG: monty and regulus' relationship was so fucking adorable the entire time, they were so lovely together and no death hurt me more than monty's im not even joking. and also regulus and aberforth's relationship and hatred for each other deserves a mention because that was amazingly written and was such a parallel i don't know how to describe it.
The war. there was so much going on during this time. rescuing james and sirius was amazing, sirius and remus' little spat after sirius hurt him was painful but so well done I am so glad it was there, plus remus being the cure to the biological warfare was amazing too.
briefly - I thought both effie and monty died pretty early on and that was painful!! plus when we didn't know that riddle was killing the officials, pandora's death hit me so hard.
Oh my fucking god. barty's death. he was second on the painful scale after monty because honestly, he was such an amazing character with regulus and I loved their dynamic with everything i have. I remember reading that his arm got torn off and i was on the EDGE OF MY SEAT. then i was like PHEW ! the hallows are pulling through and then they all got mowed down and regulus laid next to barty, finding comfort in his heartbeat until the consistency they'd always had broke when his heart stopped. fucking goddamn. that was so fucking sad.
okay post war now, i don't want to think about that again. quick shout out to molly and arthur for shocking everyone with their billions of kids. dorcus' grief for marlene was one of the hardest chapters i've ever read. how she was stuck in such an awful place, then went home, to cordie, then turned to alcohol. honestly that's all i can say there because it was so fucking painful. then she went to minnie and poppy, dried out, learned to live without and accept life without marlene, and ended up being amazing and running the foster place!
also! sirius telling dorcas marlene was going to propose was devastation but beauty all at once. ALSO I LOVE LYALL AND SIRIUS' DYNAMIC ABSOLUTE FAVES FR. also stella, everyone's emotional support dog, is amazing love her. I love the kids as well, im running out of space to write things to be honest, but teddy's character, though short, was fucking amazingly written and I love how it was done.
Also regulus accidentally falling in love w marcel and malcom when baby sitting? fave as well. oh my god i haven't said anything about mary and lily yet? i love those two with my whole heart, plus bingley is the cutest and everything about those three was amazingly written.
SIDE NOTE: sirius proposing to remus with a spoon. love that so much and the whole meaning behind all of it omfg.
OKAY LAST THING. sybill and king. that was so fucking heartbreaking honestly because they were made for each other here, and the way that king never really came back to everyone? parallels between king and dorcas break my heart. i loved this <3

What kind of music would each medical malpractice gang member listen to?
This week is easing up on me, so I can finally answer this ask. (Either you sent it twice anon, or there are two people curious about my takes of the medical malpractice gang). I’m not going to make a drawing for it, sorry! I’m busy with several films at work and my own personal project, so I’ve been too tired to draw anything. I hope you don’t mind!
On to music! The first one is dr Gogol. He’s a pretty well developed character so there are actually some clues in the film as to what he likes! After all he doesn’t care much for Stephen Orlac’s piano playing (he was, admittedly, distracted by Yvonne but still), calling it ‘very modern’ in a very weak attempt at hiding his disappointment in Yvonne and clearly not being able to deal. Which means he doesn’t care much for his time’s contemporary music like Schönberg’s atonal music, or the popular references to Jazz you could find in pieces by George Gershwin, or Aaron Copland’s more filmic music like Appalachian Spring… Gogol is old fashioned, though I think his tastes are behind by like, say, thirty to forty years in his time. A bit like those people who only listen to classic Rock even though they weren’t even born when the Beatles were popular. We hear him operate to some soft violin music (we see a nurse put on a record) and of course he plays his organ (atonally when he’s gripped by madness!). If I were to pin him down, I’d say he’s definitely into Romantic music - as in music from the Romantic Era. Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Mahler, Dvorak, Smetana… not Wagner though!
youtube
He likes Grand Guignol, doesn’t he? He’d definitely like this.
Next up: Professor Karl Fenninger. Which isn’t even his real name! Cold, aloof, elegant… what would he like? The complete opposite of Gogol, that’s for certain! Fenninger would absolutely love his age’s contemporary music, and he’d have some pretty clear opinions about which composer he loathed and which one he’d be in line to see a performance! He might even like Stephen Orlac and be heart-broken when he had to retire from his career after that horrific accident! Composers I think Fenninger would definitely like or be interested in: Schönberg, Kurt Weill, Debussy, Satie, Prokofiev, Stravinsky, Shostakovich. He might also have a huge soft spot for Jazz composers such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and good old Louis Armstrong! Also he’d positively loathe George Gershwin and Aaron Copland.
youtube
Dr Arthur Lorentz, on the other hand, wouldn’t know a Prokofiev if it came up and punched him in the face. Let alone an Aaron Copland. He’s a country man. Which doesn’t sound too bad until you realise he likes Jimmie Rodgers.
youtube
And finally we have Herman Einstein. What would he like? I'll adopt @medical-malpractice-malewife 's canon that he did cabaret in Germany, so let's roll with that. We're talking Weimar era Jazz. 'Lilli Marlene' (as sung by Marlene Dietrich), 'Mein Berlin'... You know, those soft chanson-like songs sung with nasally voices and the brass going hoompa-pa, those extremely scratchy recordings where the noise is sometimes louder than the music itself. In fact, I think Einstein might also like Chanson, and even Schlagers, though that last one is probably more of a guilty pleasure. He'll sometimes sing those old student songs from back when he was studying at Uni - 'Die Gedänken Sind Frei'. Meeting Johnny might open up his tastes to more American artists though, and if this duo managed to live beyond the 40s and into the 50s, I'm willing to bet he'd be extremely into rock and roll.

Dais,
Sorry it’s been a while but it took some time to find somewhere safe, what with my new ‘mode of transport’. Hope you haven’t worried too much.
Just writing to let you know I’m fine. How are you? How’s Harry? Does he know I stopped by? If so tell him I’m sorry I missed him.
Speak soon,
Pads
P.S. The owls may vary, but I’ll try and reply as quickly as possible.
✵✵✵
Pads,
You should know by now you’re never going to stop me from worrying but nice to know you’re settled wherever you are. I take it I’m not allowed to ask where exactly that is so I’ll settle for a letter whenever possible.
I’m fine, Harry too. Of course he was a little put out to have missed you but otherwise fine. He has asked if he can write too but I said I’d ask first. Can’t say I blame him; he’s had nothing but questions about you since he landed home. He’s as eager to catch up on everything as you are.
I’ve told him there’s no rush and that we’ll have plenty of time to get to know one another but I can’t help but feel that's not true…
You see there has been chatter, bad chatter just like last time. And I’m trying to keep positive but it’s not easy. Moony keeps telling me not to worry but I can tell he’s concerned too. Have you heard anything wherever you are?
Told you you’ll never stop me worrying.
Anyway, reply soon.

Dais,
Tell him he can write whenever he wants as it’ll give me something to do. You wouldn’t believe how boring this ‘being on the run’ lark can be.
In regard to the chatter I haven’t heard of anything but I’ll be sure to keep an ear out. People tend to forget Padfoots there so you never know. I’ll keep in touch with Moony too so that I’m up to date.
And I know there’s probably no point in telling you but don’t worry too much. At least this time we’re more prepared. We know what’s coming and more importantly we always have Harry.
Remember that
Pads
✵✵✵
Pads,
That’s what I’m worried about! He’s a kid! We were kids and we’ve already lost enough! I know if it’s coming we’re prepared. I know we’ll be better this time but I guess I can’t help but feel…selfish? I don’t even know if that’s the right word but I do. All I want is for everyone I love to be somewhere safe. For us to never have to come out and face what's going on in the world. So yeah I guess selfish is probably the right word.
Though I guess there is its upsides, if there is a fight you’ll come home. Never one to back down from a fight. And I guess it’s better for us to be worrying than the kids. They shouldn’t be involved in this.
It’s probably why I’ve let him go off for the summer. Supervised before you get to fretting like me. Arthur Weasley got tickets to the world cup so I’ve packed him off and I doubt he’ll have a worry in sight.
If only we were that lucky eh?
All my love

Daisy could hear the phone ringing, bleating at her from the living room as it demanded to be picked up. She didn’t particularly have the energy to answer it. Her night had been a long one, mostly spent fretting at the Burrow with Molly Weasley and the day hadn’t been much better. In fact she’d spent most of it trying to convince herself not to storm down to the ministry and confront Cornelius Fudge himself once Harry had told her exactly how he’d been treated after yet another ordeal. But considering it would only be one of two people, Petunia who didn’t take kindly to being ignored or Remus calling for news, she moved quickly to answer it.
Only as she picked it up and mumbled ‘hello’ the familiar voice of her sister or her friend was not the thing that met her ear. Instead it was a concerned, familiar, velvety voice that whispered, ‘Dais?’
‘Sirius?’ she questioned, ‘is that you? How did-’
‘Forget that for now. What happened? How’s Harry?’ he asked hurriedly.
‘He’s fine,’ Daisy replied quickly, hoping to stem the frantic feeling she knew he would be experiencing considering it’d been one that had lived with her all night, ‘well as fine as he can be.’
‘What happened? I’ve managed to nab a copy of the prophet but other than that I’m out of the loop-’
‘Death Eaters,’ Daisy said grimly.
‘I know that but what happened?’ Sirius pressed.
‘Not much by all accounts,’ Daisy replied, sinking down into the armchair next to the phone as all the information she’d been given once the clan had arrived back flooded to the surface, ‘just appeared in their stupid masks and started causing trouble. Of course everyone ran or apparated so it was utter chaos but I suppose that’s what they were after.’
‘So no one got hurt?’ Sirius asked.
‘No, not really,’ Daisy said, bile rising in her throat as she mumbled, ‘but they cast the dark mark…which means it’s not just chatter anymore.’
‘Did Harry see? Does he know-’ Sirius pressed.
‘Who they are? Unfortunately, in fact he nearly got face to face with one,’ Daisy grumbled. And though she’d spent all night fretting she wasn’t quite anticipating the hitch in Sirius’ breath. She wondered if she’d just become acclimatised to the fact he nephew never seemed to stay out of trouble for long but then again she wondered how Sirius could be surprised given his penchant for trouble would rival that of James’. Nevertheless she ventured to explain quickly, ‘he’s fine. He just got lost in the chaos. Once they saw them coming everyone ran and he got lost in the trample. Ended up right by the one who cast the mark…if they’d had spotted him I dread to think-’
And before she could stop herself she found tears flooding down her face, the worry and anguish she pushed aside under the scrutiny of her nephew now coming to the forefront. She supposed it wasn’t a surprise, Sirius always did have a way of making her feel, even when she didn’t want to.
‘Hey,’ he cooed as he realised what was happening, ‘c’mon. It’s alright.’
‘M’sorry,’ she sniffled.
‘Don’t be. He’s alright Dais,’ he affirmed, ‘Harry’s fine, breathe.’
‘I know, I know, I don’t know why I’m crying,’ she sniffled, wiping her nose with the back of her hand, suddenly thankful that he was not there to watch her wipe the subsequent mess onto her pants, ‘I guess…I’m starting to feel McGonagall was right.’
‘Hmm?’ Sirius said, too worried about her to try and track her train of thought.
‘Well he’s the age we were when all this started and she was right we were kids playing at war. And now it’s Harry I’d do anything to stop it,’ she sniffled.
‘I know what you mean but well, if things are heading that way, keeping him in the dark isn’t going to help him. He needs to be prepared Dais,’ Sirius reasoned.
‘He needs to be a kid,’ she challenged, earning herself a sigh.
‘Let’s not argue…’ Sirius said, suddenly aware that this was the first time he’d heard her voice, or well anyone, in over a month. And getting into the semantics of what was best when he was on a payphone’s ticking clock didn’t feel like a good use of his time. He could feel her digging her heels in, no doubt wanting to give him some lecture but he interjected and said, ‘I’ve not got long on this thing as it is.’
‘I can't believe you managed to work one to be honest,’ she said, conceding to changing the subject which  earned her a chuckle and in turn made her tears stop and a smile creep onto her face. He was right. As much as she’d enjoyed receiving the letters, or at least knowing he wasn’t dead, they were a poor substitute for being near him or at least hearing his voice, ‘didn’t you once tell me you didn’t see the point of telephones?’
‘Well they have their merits. It was this or sit around waiting for an owl from you,’ he reasoned with a smile.
‘How did you even get my number?’ she asked, an amused smirk on her face when she heard him shift and mutter, ‘well…I er, I asked Moony for it.’
‘When?’ she asked.
‘What?’ he replied.
‘When did you ask for it?’ she probed.
‘First letter I sent him,’ he replied rolling his eyes as he heard her giggle, ‘it was just in case we needed to speak quickly-’
‘Even though you hate them?’ she chuckled.
‘Like I said they have their merits,’ Sirius retorted, unable to keep a smile from his own face.
‘Yeah,’ she agreed.
‘I don’t have a lot of time though,’ he said, the beeps on the line punctuating his words as if they’d timed it just right for maximum mocking.
‘It’s fine,’ she lied, ‘it was nice to hear your voice and… and maybe we could do this again instead of writing.’
‘Yeah?’ he asked, surprised at just how much he didn’t hate the idea.
‘I mean I hate writing,’ Daisy said, venturing to test the waters and hoping he’d not shoot her down.
‘Me too,’ Sirius replied, excitement bubbling in his stomach though it was dampened as he thought about how feasible it was which was why he figured he might as well prepare her for disappointment as he added ‘it might be a bit hit a miss.’
‘It’s better than not at all,’ she said, trying not to sound too pleading as she said, ‘please Pads?’
Sirius held in a sigh. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to speak to her, he did. And short bursts whilst he tried to find himself again was probably the best way to do it. A phone call here and there would allow them to re-establish some connection whilst allowing some distance. Yet it wasn’t as though he was currently flushed with spare cash and he didn’t fancy spending the oncoming winter huddled into payphones or risking trespassing in muggle homes to use their phone. But she was right. It was nice to hear her voice. It was almost like being with her, something he’d thought about every day for the last twelve years.
‘Pads?’ she asked, wondering if he’d lost his connection. And just like that he was sixteen years old, bending to the will of Daisy Evans without a thought or care for the effort it would cost him. Because as always she was worth it.
‘I’m here,’ he answered, ‘go on then.’
‘Brillant!’ Daisy beamed, ‘how do you want to do it? I guess it’s probably easier for you to ring me. Anytimes fine but we’re probably better with a set day-’
‘How about Fridays?’ Sirius asked, unable to stop himself from smiling at her enthusiasm, ‘say eight pm?’
‘Fine by me,’ she smiled, ‘I’ll be waiting.’
‘If I don’t call on time, don't panic,’ he said, his excitement notwithstanding the urge to add a caveat, ‘I’ll call as soon as I can.’
‘Sounds good to me,’ Daisy said, hearing the beeps of impending disconnection in her ear once more, ‘speak soon yeah?’
‘Next Friday,’ he said.
‘Next Friday,’ she agreed and before she could say goodbye the line dropped, a dial tone following in its place.
Daisy sighed and put the receiver down before she checked her watch. It was late but the time wasn’t her concern and instead her eyes were focused on the small rectangle in the clock face that showed her the day. Monday. Four more days until she could speak to him again. It wasn’t perfect but it was enough.
✵✵✵
Following the events of the Quidditch World Cup, the chance for Daisy to stop worrying never really presented itself. If the presence of Death Eaters didn’t confirm her suspicions that Voldemort was not already destined for a return, Harry's name being put in the Goblet of Fire had. Because who else would want him, a fourteen-year-old, in harm's way that badly. She’d begged Dumbledore to see reason but he’d merely informed her that he was unable to break a magical contract. And so she’d sat by the sidelines as he’d gone through each deadly task. She’d tried to provide as much guidance as she could whilst trying to hide how truly worried she was. And every week at eight pm on Friday evening she’d waited by the phone ready to unload her weeks’ worth of worries onto Sirius who, thankfully, took them on dutifully. Though as he got more adept at using the phone the longer they were afforded and so as the weeks went by her weekly worries only became a fraction of the time they spent together.
Unfortunately though it left her ill-equipped to handle life for the days following. She was becoming so used to having him back in her life that the times she needed him, truly needed him, felt more trying than they ever would have mere months ago. As evidence by the way she was near chewing her fingernails off as she sat in Dumbledore’s office waiting for news, something she was an old hat at by now. If Sirius was here she wouldn’t be this nervous. If Sirius was here he probably wouldn’t have let them get separated from Harry. If Sirius was here he’d have definitely done something about the way Snape was breathing too loudly, not so discreetly watching her from across the room.
Not even a years’ worth of being confined to the castle had allowed her to start liking him again, not after what he’d done to Remus at the end of it, but fortunately for Daisy she’d become adept at ignoring him and it was made easier as the door opened and Dumbledore sauntered in moving to his desk quickly and ignoring the way she leapt from her seat and asked, ‘where is he? Where’s Harry?’
‘I’ve sent him to his dormitory,’ Dumbledore said as he rested against his desk, ‘for a much-needed lie down.’
‘Is he okay? I want to see him. I barely got time-’
‘He is fine and no doubt exhausted,’ Dumbledore said.
‘Is it true Dumbledore?’ McGonagall asked gravely as she appeared from the seat she’d been sitting in quietly ignoring the pair of them glaring at one another, ‘is vol…is he back?’
Dumbledore looked at their grave faces and nodded before he slipped into his seat.
‘I said! I said we should never have let him participate in this stupid tournament!’ Daisy ranted, ‘what if he’d been killed!’
‘A child has been killed,’ Snape reasoned, earning himself a glare.
‘And by chance it wasn’t Harry too!’ Daisy gritted, trying not to let herself bite at the insinuation coming from the sallow-skinned man. Of course she felt for Amos, to lose one’s family like that was something she’d never wish on another soul but all she could think of was her own family. Her own loss. Harry.
‘Miss Evans I am with you but Dumbledore wasn’t to know the tournament was a trap,’ McGonagall reasoned.
‘No he just couldn’t recognise one of his oldest friends laying the groundwork for Voldemort's return,’ Daisy bit.
‘I don’t think lectures on how to spot a traitor in the midst is prudent, do you?’ Snape challenged, looking at Daisy pointedly. He’d swung for the lowest blow and just like always Daisy didn’t hold back from doling it back at him, ‘I’m surprised you didn't spot him yourself Severus. He was one of your nearest and dearest no? Then again I suppose it’s hard to spot a snake amongst your-’
‘Enough!’ Dumbledore said firmly, striking the chatter into silence though the animosity lingered between the pair. Daisy scowled and folded her arms across her chest indignantly but didn’t say a word. Snape looked away apparently unbothered.
‘Now, whether or not this could’ve been avoided we will never know but what we do know is that Voldemort has been working on his return far longer than this tournament has been in progress. Take the World Cup or what happened with Quirrell years ago,’ Dumbledore reasoned. Daisy’s scowl softened a touch but she still didn’t allow her arms to drop, still riled, ‘no matter if it happened now or years from now he was destined to return and just like last time we cannot stand idly by.’
‘So what?’ Daisy asked, finally looking at the old man across from her.
‘So we prepare. Like he has been doing,’ Dumbledore said.
‘A year after the Death Eaters started knocking about?’ Daisy scoffed.
‘If you think I have been waiting on the sidelines this year Miss Evans then you do not know me at all,’ Dumbledore said, ‘I, like Voldemort, have been making traction with support, of course it hasn’t been easy, trying to convince people of a threat they cannot see never is but now I feel is the perfect time to take those who already have favour and start recruiting properly.’
‘What?’ Daisy asked, lost in what he was going on about. A glance at McGonagall and Snape told her she wasn’t the only one having trouble with the old man’s ramblings.
‘It is time to restart the order Miss Evans,’ he said, ‘and I need your help.’
‘My help?’ Daisy asked.
Dumbledore looked to McGonagall and Snape who seemed to get the message that they were no longer required and scuttled to the door sharpish as Dumbledore started to rise.
‘Dumbledore,’ Daisy started unsurely.
‘Miss Evans, do you trust me?’ Dumbledore asked, sparkling blue eyes watching her over his spectacles. It made her stomach fill with nerves.. Because the question was, did she? Of course the instinct was to say yes, Dumbledore knew more than his fair share on combating evil and in the first wizarding war there wouldn’t have been a hope without him and his tactics. But his plans always seemed to come with a catch. A downside. And if she was being honest she had grown tired of being on the receiving end of the downside over the years. It was what had lost her James and Lily. It was why she’d spent a decade in a foreign world. It was what lost her Sirius.
Again she wished he was here, to help her. To guide her. He would know what to do or at least make her feel better. But he wasn't. He was god knows where and it wasn’t as though she was in a position not to, not with Voldemort back in power.
‘Yes,’ she answered after a moment.
‘Good,’ Dumbledore said, ‘because I need your help. Voldemort is back but he is weak. So weak that Harry managed to best him in that graveyard.’
‘That was luck. You said it yourself,’ Daisy challenged.
‘Luck in part but Harry possesses a power we, and more importantly, Voldemort does not know the extent of. And over the coming months I do not doubt that he will try and find out what Harry hold within him,’ Dumbledore said.
‘So what?’ Daisy asked.
‘So I think it wise that we do not let him on the front line so to speak. He will want to fight I don’t doubt that,’ Dumbledore said, ‘but I feel to do so at this point in time would be foolish. Not until we know the power he possesses.’
‘So we keep him away from the action?’ Daisy scoffed, ‘I mean I can tell him he can’t join the order but he's not going to be out of the loop Dumbledore not when he’s under my roof-’
‘Which is why I’ve asked for your sister to take him. For the summer,’ Dumbledore explained.
‘Leave him alone!? Unprotected after what has just happened are you mad?’ Daisy baulked.
‘I will have someone watch over him,’ Dumbledore reasoned.
‘Oh yeah who? Another Death Eater in disguise,’ Daisy snapped.
‘He will be safe Daisy,’ Dumbledore vowed, placing a hand on her shoulder. She took a breath, willing herself to believe in him.
After all what was the muggle world if not protection. It had protected them both for ten years, surely a little jaunt to Surrey couldn’t do him any harm. Though the thought of him having to deal with everything that happened alone didn’t sit well with her. He’d have more than enough questions and no doubt more than enough hurt and anger at the loss he’d been put through yet again. But Dumbledore had a point. After all, having him away from the fighting was what she wanted anyway. So maybe it was for the best.
‘He’s not going to want to go you know,’ she reasoned.
‘I figured,’ Dumbledore said, not finishing so that Daisy had to do it for him, ‘you’re not going to tell him are you?’
‘For now I think the least information he has is probably for the best,’ Dumbledore said.
‘And how is that going to make him feel?’ Daisy protested.
‘He is a resilient boy Daisy,’ Dumbledore reasoned, ‘you know that better than I. And it’s not as though it is forever…but we have to be careful, now more than ever.’
Daisy sighed and pulled away, mulling her options over. As always when it came to Dumbledore, well when it came to Harry’s protection, there was very little options and though she hated to do so she finally relented and nodded, trying to ignore that feeling of longing inside her for Sirius or at least someone else who’d think of Harry’s wellbeing.
Dumbledore smiled.
‘Very good,’ he said before he moved to his desk and picked up a piece of paper as he explained, ‘now I’ve arranged for you to stay at the new headquarters. With you being ‘on the scene’ so to speak you’ll be able to hit the ground running and help get the place up to scratch whilst I round up those I’ve been speaking to about rejoining the order.’
‘Right,’ Daisy said.
‘I thought we’d have our first meeting Tuesday night,’ Dumbledore explained, ‘as it’ll give me a chance to get everyone ready.’
‘Right yeah,’ Daisy muttered, glancing at the piece of paper he offered up in front of her face.
It was a plain piece of parchment with Dumbledore’s neat handwriting written across it with no more than a sentence written, 12 Grimmauld place.
‘What’s this?’ she asked though she was sure she knew.
‘Headquarters,’ Dumbledore explained, ‘I figured I’d take you straight there…that way you can explain.’
‘Okay,’ she said though she didn’t really know what or to whom she was expected to explain. She tried to think of old order members but admittedly the list was substantially shorter than it had been. Again her mind flitted to Sirius. It was Saturday now, nearly a week away from their next phone call though he’d no doubt try and get hold of her sooner once he heard the news. She’d have to try and make a break from wherever Dumbledore was sending her so that she could speak to him. Owl him at the very least.
That was what she was thinking of when Dumbledore offered her his arm, nodding for her to take it in what she could only assume would be a side-along apparition. Moments after she rested her hand on his arm she was proved right and she hurtled through the air before landing on her feet on pavement.
The street she was on was dark which of course was no surprise because even if it was summer it must’ve been well into the night by now. A glance behind her revealed a small unilluminated park that looked as though it was a pathetic attempt at a green space rather than a playground given it housed little more than a couple of benches, trees and small patches of grass. A city, Daisy reasoned, her logic supported as she looked back around and found a row of multistorey bleak brick houses looking back at her.
Though as she looked the row of houses started to expand, the brick work sliding to the right and pulling with it another brown town house as if from nowhere. Headquarters, Daisy realised, her mind flitting back to the address on the parchment.
This was 12 Grimmauld Place.
She didn’t recognise it. Granted she only remembered some of the safe houses from the last war but she was still sure that this was not one of them even if it felt awfully familiar. Dumbledore didn’t seem to note her familiarity and walked forward, not bothering to look across the street as he did even though the sounds of traffic could be heard just beyond the road. Instead he walked on, climbing the steps up to the front door with Daisy hurrying along behind him, barely on the top step before the door he’d knocked on opened revealing a wizened little house elf to them both.
The creature didn’t bother in greeting instead he merely turned on his heel and beckoned the pair of them forward, muttering about the inconvenience as he did so. Daisy closed the door behind her and followed trying to take everything in as the pair in front of her headed downstairs as if this was nothing out of the ordinary. As if she was an expected guest and not a stranger.
Obviously Dumbledore had been here before. He was the secret keeper from what she could gather, but she still didn’t know where she was. Or whose house would be quite as…grotesque. She tried to take it all in from the troll foot umbrella stand to the disapproving stares of staunch looking portraits but it was hard to absorb it all seeing as she wasn’t given time to.
In fact she barely had time to realise she was being introduced before Dumbledore moved out of her view, revealing a long kitchen to her and most importantly, Sirius and Remus.
They were standing at the end of a long kitchen table, watching her expectantly as if they’d been waiting for her. And Daisy didn’t waste any time in letting them know she was there.
Dumbledore had barely even started speaking before she was across the room and flinging her arms around Sirius’ neck, allowing him to wrap his arms around her as she clung to him.
‘Ah yes,’ she heard Dumbledore say, ‘well I expect you shan’t need me to update you gentleman.’
‘Probably not,’ Remus agreed, forcing down a smirk as he locked eyes with Sirius who had a faint smile on his own lips despite the obvious serious situation.
‘I shall let the three of you explain,’ Dumbledore said, glancing at the pair who were still intertwined, ‘I shall be back tomorrow.’
And before anyone could say goodbye he apparated and disappeared from view. Only then did Daisy pull back, moving to hug Remus quickly though Sirius never let his hand fall from her waist. Once they broke apart he said captured her attention and asked, ‘what’s going on?’
‘You don’t know?’ Daisy asked puzzled.
‘Dumbledore just said he was ready to start the order. Asked Moony to come over and told us to wait,’ Sirius said as the three of them moved to sit down.
As they did he assessed her, trying to ascertain how worried he should be. The ferocity in which she’d clung to him signalled it should be a lot but then again he hoped it was just because she missed him.
‘He’s back,’ Daisy said, looking gravely between them both, ‘Voldemort’s back.’
‘Bloody hell,’ Remus said.
‘You’re telling me,’ she said before she broke into the tale of the graveyard and the tournament whilst trying not to think too much of Harry, no doubt thinking of it all himself up in Gryffindor Tower.
‘So where is he now?’ Sirius asked the moment she finished.
‘At school and then he’s headed to Tuney’s,’ she said.
‘Well that’s probably for the best,’ Remus reasoned, earning a scowl from both godparents, ‘well I’m just saying. Dumbledore’s right. Restoring the order is going to be a big feat as it is. It’s better Harry isn’t involved for now, not until we have some sort of game plan.’
‘I suppose,’ Daisy said.
‘Yeah and let’s hope he has one when he comes back here in the morning,’ Sirius countered. Remus nodded but when he looked at Daisy she was glancing around the room as if she’d forgotten to take in her surroundings the moment she’d laid eyes on him. He could see the questions bubbling behind her eyes and it didn’t take long before she asked, ‘speaking of where are we?’
‘Headquarters,’ Remus said.
‘No I know that,’ she said, rolling her eyes, ‘but like where are we?’
‘Er well, it’s um,’ Sirius mumbled, earning a curious stare, ‘my house.’
‘Your house?’ Daisy asked incredulously, her mind whizzing with a million thoughts.
‘Yeah, well technically,’ he said.
‘I don’t understand, I thought you didn’t have anywhere to go? Have you been here all this time,’ she started.
‘No,’ Sirius jumped in quickly, ‘it’s a long story.’
‘So?’ she pressed, only looking away from him when she heard Remus clear his throat and push the opposite bench back, the wood scraping along the stone floor as he said, ‘I er, think I’ll leave you to it.’
‘Thanks mate,’ Sirius grumbled as the other man hurried from the room leaving him with an irritable Daisy, who’s green eyes were staring intently at him awaiting explanation.
‘Dais it’s not what you think,’ he murmured.
‘You’ve not had me going out of my mind with worry when you were doing just fine?’ she challenged, taking a moment to look at him and finding herself surprised at how she hadn't realised just how well he looked. Of course it had been the best part of a year since she had seen him so she didn’t know what she’d expected but it wasn't this. He looked healthier, the gaunt face she’d seen last summer now fuller and less waxy. In fact when she’d hugged him she’d barely felt his bones the way she had last time she’d seen him though whether that was to do with the fact he now looked a healthy weight or the flash three-piece suit he was wearing, the style wizards wore, she didn’t know.
But the longer she looked at him the more she realised she didn’t know what she’d expected. When they’d spoken on the phone she never elected to remember the vagrant that had darkened her doorstep but she hadn't thought of him looking like this either. If anything her mind always cast back to the boy she had known, it was easy to do so when the voice in her ear was just like that in her memories.
‘No,’ he said, sighing and running a hand down his face, ‘I have been on the run.’
‘Until?’ she questioned.
‘Until this week,’ Sirius answered, earning a scoff, ‘I promise it’s true. Dumbledore found me, told me he was going to restart the order, he was sure something was going to happen and he wanted to be prepared.’
As Daisy said nothing he continued, ‘he said he was going to go around everyone he could think of and recruit but seeing as I was probably the hardest to pin down he came for me first.’
‘So how did you end up here?’ she asked, ‘I mean where even is here?’
‘It’s my home, well my house, technically,’ he said with a sigh, ‘it’s the Black family home.’
‘Your parents' house?’ Daisy gasped, realising why the hallowed halls of this house felt all too familiar. She’d heard about them enough times.
‘Technically mine,’ Sirius said grimly, ‘seeing as I'm the only living heir.’
‘Your parents-’
‘Dead,’ Sirius confirmed, earning himself a sad smile though she thankfully didn’t offer him any condolences the way any normal person would. More to the point she didn’t highlight the elephant in the room of the other heir to the house instead opting to ask, ‘how long? I mean why didn’t you come here straight away?’
‘I didn’t really want to,’ he admitted, ‘it hardly holds happy memories does it. Only really thought about it when Dumbledore said he’d need somewhere safe to hold meetings and members who needed a place to stay. I figured I wouldn’t be able to do much else, what with me still being a fugitive but well, I can do this at least.’
‘Won't it bother you?’ Daisy asked, watching him closely, ‘being here?’
‘It’s just a house,’ he shrugged, trying to ignore the way his shoulders felt weighted, ‘besides I’ve got Moony here with me…and…and you if you want?’
‘Sirius Black are you asking me to move in with you?’ she smiled. Sirius grinned.
‘Daisy Evans, will you do me the honours of moving into my parents grotesquely decorated, dilapidated, gloomy old house?’ Sirius asked.
‘Well when you put it like that,’ Daisy giggled.
‘Is that a yes?’ he asked.
‘Yes.’

An eventful birthday
Did he want to make love to you?
Tumblr media
Pairing : Young Severus Snape x Fem!Reader
Warnings : slight smut ; little bit of swearing ; caught during sex ; teasing in public
Wordcount : 3, 712 words
Request : Maraudeur era Severus x reader’s first time
I think I got a little too excited about this order so here is the resume. I did two different version with the same base “ severus and reader’s first time.”  Don't hesitate to tell me if you like it or not.
Resume : Severus and Reader have been together for a while but have never had sex. Reader is getting impatient and decides to invite her boyfriend to her house for the vacations. With Lucius' help, Severus takes the invitation as an implicit request for sex, so he spends the beginning of the vacation educating himself on the subject, until the big day. D-Day, which turns out to be Y/n's birthday... !
Severus waddled from one foot to the other, in front of the blue door of a small country house, wondering if he should enter or not.
That blue door was yours. You and Severus had been dating since the beginning of your sixth year at Hogwarts. You were the one who made the first move, asking him via owl if he would like to go out with you. To your surprise he agreed. In the early days, your relationship had been tedious, Severus having trouble showing you affection in public and even being unpleasant at times, but you knew him well enough to know that he didn't want to hurt you. He was just a little proud. It had to be said that the rumors that were circulating about you didn't help. Some said Severus had used dark magic to make you fall in love with him, others thought he was using you. In short, the rumors were far from reality, making Severus a despicable man when he was only afraid. Personally, you didn't care what people said or thought, but that wasn't entirely true of your boyfriend. So with all the patience you had, you managed to make him more comfortable, to make your relationship evolve so that it lasts. Taking all the necessary first steps, erasing his doubts one after the other. Yes, your sixth year had been an emotional one.
 And you were not at the end of your sorrows, already another obstacle was standing in your way. A few months before the end of the year, you had started sleeping with Severus, either in your dormitory or in his. Of course you only did this, out of respect for your respective roommates, but mostly because every time you tried to exchange more than a kiss with Severus, he found an excuse not to. This behavior had annoyed you a little and even hurt you but you didn't give up and ended up inviting him to spend the vacations at your place knowing that he would have no excuse and would have to explain what was bothering him.
Severus was surprised that you invited him so suddenly, he had been disturbed by your behavior for a few months. It must be said, he was not very good with women and had gone to his best friend, Lucius Malfoy, to ask his advice. He had described to him, the changes he had noticed in the way you dressed, the way you spoke to him, and all the weird phrases that just didn't make sense to his ears.
Lucius had laughed at his explanation, confiding that you wanted to have sex with him. Severus was taken aback.
"Don't look so surprised, my friend. You told me she'd had other boyfriends before you, right?” he nodded “So, it's only natural, your little Y/n wants you to fuck her. You want that too, don't you Sev?"
Severus thought for a moment. Did he want to make love to you? The answer had come to him naturally ; of course. You was the smartest girl he knew, you always understood him, you always seemed to know what to say to make him feel confident, he wanted to confide in you all his problems, to hold you until morning and he understood that now, he would love to see your naked body and feel your warmth against him. But he was not reassured by the idea of you seeing him naked, he was afraid of disappointing you. Lucius then set out to teach Severus what he called the basics of a good fuck. He took his role as a teacher so much to heart that he spent most of the night before the vacations making a book for Severus.
The book was read in one night. Although he wasn't sure if you would like most of the practices described in Lucius's manual, Severus was a little reassured to have a minimum of knowledge before taking action. He would never have thought that sex was a subject that required so much knowledge. Severus didn't have time to continue thinking as the door in front of him opened, revealing a jovial looking woman, whom he recognized as one of your mothers. Because yes, you had two mothers.
"Severus, my boy, come in! Y/n is in her room. You can join her if you like. We'll call you when the food is ready. Oh and you should take your suitcase up with you."
He didn't have time to put one in before your mother had already joined your other mother in the kitchen. Just starting to get used to so much kindness as he had been coming to your house as a friend for a while, he stammered a slightly embarrassed thank you before running upstairs to find you. You was sitting at your window reading,when he enter your room. When you heard him come in you looked up from your book and smiled at him with a smile that would warm the coldest heart.
You were about to stand up and greet him when to your surprise he came up to you faster than a flash of lightning and kissed you fiercely. You kissed back as he wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you closer to him.
"Severus" you breathed between kisses.
"Y/n" he replied as he pushed you towards your bed without breaking the kiss.
"Y/n, the boys have arrived, they are asking where they ca... Oh!"
Severus turned around and came face to face with Lily Evans leaning on Y/n's bedroom door. Her gaze darted back and forth between your two faces and the position she had found you in.
"I think... I better go ask your mothers," she disappeared down the stairs, closing the door behind her.
Severus stood up in a bit of a panic as you burst out laughing. He questioned you with his eyes as he thought you had gone mad.
"By Merlin, I've never seen you this enterprising and Lily had to come in.
"Repeating the facts doesn't make them any less dramatic, you know Y/n? What are we going to do now that she's seen us? And what is she doing here anyway?" he said with a frown.
"Well, just like you and pretty much my entire group of friends, she was invited home to celebrate my birthday." your smile lost a little of its luster as your boyfriend broke down before your eyes.
Your birthday. He had forgotten your birthday. Severus felt like the biggest idiot in the world as he stammered a "yes, of course" while trying to avoid your gaze. You could tell by his demeanor, but you didn't have time to get your head around it, as someone knocked on the door. A few seconds later, your other mother's purple head appeared in the doorway, letting you know that the meal was ready and that all the guests were there. You and Severus walked downstairs with your mother to the dining room, decorated with colorful lanterns and holiday streamers. Around the table chatting were your friends, Remus,Sirius, Lily, Dorcas, Mary, Arthur, Frank, James and Marlene. All of them came from different groups of friends but were willing to mix for you. Since only the ends of the table were left, you and Severus sat away from each other. But it was all right, your mind was still on the revelation he had made to you indirectly a few minutes earlier. James and Sirius spat at Severus, who didn't react, just sat at the other end of the table, staring at the plate in front of him. Severus' string of bizarre behaviors reinforced the idea that something was wrong.
Normally, Severus was one of the sweetest, most caring men you'd ever met, and because of his family history, he was so desperate for love and affection that he found it hard not to look at you, or give you compliments, awkward ones, but still compliments. But the last few weeks before the vacations, he had insisted on sleeping alone, and now he had forgotten your birthday, there was definitely something wrong. You did your best to focus on the moment and not think too much. This allowed you to have a nice meal, surrounded by the good mood of your friends and family. When the meal was over, the lanterns went out as your mom came into the dining room with a huge cake of your favorite flavor in her hands. All your friends began to sing around the table, wishing you a happy birthday. That was it. You were finally 17, you couldn't help but shed a tear or two after blowing out the candles. The cake was cut and served and then it was time for the gifts. One by one the gifts came to rest in front of you as you tore off the wrapping paper that wrapped them. You received a broom set, sweets and many other gifts that filled you with joy. Each of the guests pointed to themselves after you opened their gift for you to thank them.
"And you, Severus? Where is your gift for Y/n?" Mary asked innocently.
All eyes turned to Severus as his cheeks turned crimson. He felt terrible for forgetting your birthday and now he was paying the price. He was going to have to admit that he didn't have one in front of everyone. What kind of boyfriend could forget such an important day?
"I don't..." he began.
"Severus was giving it to me as soon as he arrived, he's still in my room," you answered to avoid an affront to your boyfriend.
For the first time all evening, Severus looked up at you with hopeful eyes. You'd had time to digest the news, and while you weren't mad at him yet, he had better have a good excuse. You knew your friends well enough to know that Sirius and James would have been happy to put Severus down again, so you didn't give them the chance. The rest of the evening was spent in a calm and good mood, the small group of teenagers having moved into the living room to play teenage games like Monopoly, truth or dare etc. Once your mothers were in bed, Severus slid in beside you on the couch and shyly took your hand. Your eyes met for a moment as he squeezed your hand gently. Despite the annoyance of his behavior, you melted a little at the look on his face. You smiled at him and then gently let him know that you too would need to have a chat later. He nodded and moved a little closer to you. With a smile, you turned your attention back to the game on the coffee table and slid Severus' hand over your butt. He gave you a panicked look but you were already paying no attention to him, or so it seemed, just pushing your buttocks to meet his palm. Severus took this as an invitation and pressed his hand to your bottom trying to remember what Lucius had taught him. As quietly as possible, Severus began to knead your buttocks, waiting for a favorable reaction. This created a fire inside you that made you close your eyes for a moment. Then remembering where you were, you opened them again and gently slid Severus' hands away from you. He thought he must have felt bad or that you didn't like it, but your buttocks came to rest on his legs and quickly changed his mind. His hands had only touched your buttocks through your dress, but that wasn't enough, you wanted more. You stuck to Severus by slipping in his ear a few words.
"Touch my breasts, please.
He nodded, not sure how he was going to please you on the one hand and not get caught on the other. He started by pulling down the zipper of your dress, just enough for him to get his hands under the loose fabric. A grunt escaped him, which was thankfully covered by Sirius's protesting cries that he was in no position to win. That growl in your ear felt like a bomb in your body. You weren't wearing a bra and he could see that. That was the reason for his groan.
His fingers eventually found your nipples and he began to knead them in the same way he had kneaded your ass. You bit your lip to keep from letting all the pleasure Severus was giving you out into the open.
"Are you okay, Y/n? You're all red," Arthur said, worried about his friend.
Severus stopped his movements as all eyes were now on you.
You nodded, wanting to reassure them and avoid getting caught.
"Yes, yes. I think I'm just a little tired. Do you mind if I slip away now?"
All of your friends nodded and wished you a pleasant night as the smart ones figured out where the redness in your cheeks really came from. After Severus zipped up your dress, you took him by the hand and got up from the couch, dragging him behind you.
When you got to your room, you closed the door, this time with a key. Then you turned to face him, arms crossed.
" Go ahead. Can you explain to me why you forgot my birthday ?”
"I'm ashamed,I’m so sorry  you know ? " Severus fled your gaze as he reached into the back pocket of his pants but unfortunately you notice and asked for it.
"What are you hiding ?”
You weren't totally mad, but seeing Severus so secretive left your imagination free to invent far-fetched scenarios that almost always ended with Severus admitting to cheating on you and that broke your heart. You joined him on the bed, trying to keep your composure as he sheepishly pulled a book from his back pocket.
 "That's what did it. That's what made me... forgot your birthday." You took it from his hands.
"What's this?" you asked as you began to flip through it quickly.
"It's a book about sex. Lucius gave it to me, and incidentally wrote it as well, when I told him about us.”
Severus explained everything in detail, so much so that by the end of his story, you couldn't be angry anymore. On the contrary. Severus did all this to make sure he would be ready for his first time with you. It was adorable.
"Remind me never to give Lucius a chance if we ever break up " you said with a laugh.
"D-Does that mean that's not how it works ?" questioned Severus confused.
"Well... In fact... I don't know about that, Sev. I'm a virgin too." you confessed making him even more confused.
"You are ? But I thought that... What about your ex’s boyfriends ?"
You settle down a little better on the bed, not knowing how to explain it to him.
"So... Yeah I've had a bunch of boyfriends but none of them have ever touched me. And if they tried..." Severus sits cross-legged in front of you, all ears "... I break up with them. First time, you only get one. I didn't want to give it to just anyone. I never felt safe enough or in love with them enough to take the plunge." your hands find Severus', you intertwine your fingers gently. "But with you, everything is different, Severus."
"Wait Y/n... You mean you..." begins Severus, his eyes sparkling.
You smile softly at your boyfriend, your cheeks turning a little red as he moved closer to you without really realizing it.
"Yes, Sev. I'm in love with you," you finally admit.
"Oh Y/n..." he melts on your lips in a tender but passionate kiss "I think... Me too"
Your heart misses a beat. Since the beginning of your relationship, it was you who took the lead and for the roles to be reversed, it often took a few days or even a few months, so you would never have thought that for such an important confession, he would say it so easily. You could not be happier.
Severus gently flipped you over onto the bed, towering over you as you deepened the kiss. Awkwardly, you undressed each other, urgently seeking each other's lips as quickly as possible. You were the first only in your underwear, at least in your panties, and Severus was speechless. The sight of his fiery gaze titillated your pussy, which had not yet recovered from Sev's caresses in the living room. Instinctively, Severus directed his hands towards your breasts, bringing you out of your dream. He began to knead them again as he had done in the living room, but replaced one of his hands with his mouth and then his tongue, wrapping it around your erect nipples with desire. Small moans came out of your mouth in front of all the attentions of your companion.
"Does it feel good?" he asked, gradually gaining confidence.
You nodded knowing that your voice would break before you could finish your sentence. He seemed to understand as a sly smile came to perch on his lips. He wanted to taste your body, to hear your little moans again, which he found adorable and which excited him more than he wanted to say. His lips went down along your belly to land near your panties asking you for access silently. For all answer you did not delay to pull down your panties wanting desperately to feel him inside you, or at least it was as you translated the sudden heat and tingling that rose from your crotch. Severus in front of you couldn't stop his sex from growing even larger as exotic scents wafted up to his nose.
"Severus," you breathed in a prayer.
"Anything for you, love" he replied.
Within seconds, his tongue met your clit, warming it and covering it with kisses. A few minutes later he was already moving his tongue down to visit your already moistened pussy, making you moan louder than before.
"Please, Sev'. I think I'm going to cum."
"Do you think you can wait for me?" he asked as he lovingly stroked your hair.
You nodded slowly, catching your breath as Severus' tongue left your folds.
"Are you ready?  Lucius told me it can hurt the first time for girls, so tell me if I -" his sex in his hand he placed it in front of your entrance as he towered over you.
"It's okay, Sev. I trust you." your smile encouraged him.
He nodded, not totally reassured. So far, it had been easy, he had been content to trust his desires and the reaction of your body, but now it was going to be harder. He could feel it. But encouraged by your love, he ended up pushing his erect member little by little into your dripping sex. An electric shock went through both of your bodies. He didn't move right away, feeling your walls tightening dangerously around his sex. Then you motioned for him to move, which he did, slowly pulling his sex out of yours before moving back in again, keeping a slow pace. The first few trips in and out were painful, but soon it was pleasure that took over. For Severus, it was pure pleasure and moaning, he loved being inside you, but was still afraid you wouldn't.
"Is that good for you, love? Can I speed it up a little?"
"Yes...; please."
So he accelerated his comings and goings, always focused on the reaction of your body to his. Your breathing became more jerky as his change of pace allowed him to perfectly match your pleasure points. It was the first time he felt like this, he felt like he was too far away from you even though his whole body was married to yours and he wanted to be one with you all the days of his life, to feel your body pressed against his forever. It didn't take long for you to tighten your grip on your lover, feeling your deliverance coming.
"Severus... I-" your sentence was swallowed up by the wave of pleasure that engulfed you.
Severus joined you in your orgasm a few minutes after yours, prolonging it as he continued to go back and forth.
"Y/n, Y/n, Fuck, Y/n!" he moaned in your ear.
Breathless, he pulled out of you and immediately took you in his arms, thanking you for your patience by covering you with kisses. He had been a little rough with you but you thought it had been for the best.
"Perfect," you sighed.
"I couldn't have said it better," he said between breaths. "Do you think we could do this again?" he questioned.
"That was our first time, remember? So there's no reason why it should be the only one." you kissed him tenderly, laughing "We can do it again whenever you want.”
"Even... Now?" he asked with an innocent look but flame of desire in his eyes.
You bit your lip before nodding.

renn faire mini event
This will be character info like if they will be participating or not. A few of them will definitely feel right at home others may stay away. But like this for a starter and pls specify which characters they are for. There is so much going on that if the characters are not specified I won’t do them. (Plotting call is on discord)
(might be doing costume edits as well)
Angel - It’s very much not his scene anymore. Too much like the time before he became a vampire. He will likely go for Buffy. The chances of his dressing up are minimal. Buffy,
Loki Laufeyson - He will definitely be going and causing some unharmful mischief. He will be enjoying it a lot. Probably wandering around. We shall see what he does. Gabriel
Yennefer of Vengerberg - It is the clean and fantasy version of home. She will feel some nostalgia and maybe have a bit of fun with her magic. Help create that illusion of a fantasy world - Pippin, Dru, Asmodeus, Leia
Rabastan Lestrange - Might go out of curiosity but not get very involved. It’s all a bit too loud for him. So he won’t stay long. Voldemort, Cissy
Billy Loomis - He will go. Try some of the weapons. Just have a bit of fun. He loves movies and so a renn faire when he can wear a costume is very much up his alley. Seol, Jill
Cleo Mckinnon - She loves a fantasy world and so she will definitely be going for the whole thing to just enjoy the vibes. She’s fascinated by vikings so will likely dress up as a viking of some kind. Marlene, Thor, Esther, Ewan
Charles Xavier - He will likely be dragged there. it’s not really his environment but he is eager to please. So he’ll have fun but under slight protest at first. Ororo, Jean, Billy
Cullen Rutherford - It’s just like home. Like Yennefer he will go for the nostalgia of home. He can bring out his cape and sword from home without seeming weird. He can give some sword fighting lessons as well. Arthur, Vax
Fleur Delacour - She is a badass but she loves romantic stuff and is very happy to dress in a beautiful dress. She will be enjoying it a lot. - Bill, Zishu, Rose, Dominique, Vic, Cedric
Hunter - Let’s face it he will be dragged to the event by Omega and Rowena. So he will go. But swords and medieval stuff isn’t his way really. (Though yes he will likely be dressed like a pirate) Beau, Rowena, Fennec
Jorah Mormont - He will be a little hesitant going but curiosity will get the best of him. He will be part of the jousting tournament with his horse. He will get into the vibe and regress a little bit to his time of being a knight. Mingjue, Jaime, Dany
Kirby Reed - She will go. A nice escape from everything and a chance to have fun. Randy, Sam
Bones McCoy - He will be dragged there likely. He is a bit of a kill joy so won’t dress up but secretly he will enjoy the vibes. Have a few drinks and let himself relax a little bit.
Parker - She’s going and dressing up as an elf and no one can tell her otherwise. - Yuri, Aloth, Legolas, Stitch, Eddie
Peter Ballard - It’ll be an interesting event for him to witness. He is there to observe. Learn and experience. But keep a low profile. - Tandy
Peter Hale - It’s a bit of fun so Peter will be there. Maybe cheat a little with his werewolf strength on some of the games and competitions. - Noah, Theo, Bev
Satine Kryze - Another chance to have some fun. Actually enjoy her time instead of worrying. She is very intrigued. Excited for it all actually. Obi Wan
Silco - He will go. Show his face as he feels he should do as a senator. He is unlikely to get to involved but could get swept up in the fun.
Sion Val Palpatine - He wants to part take in all of the tournaments. Learn as much as he can from all of the masters. He will have the best time if also to distract him from Sella. - Claire, Allana, Chewie
Tenel Ka Djo - A bit of fun never hurt anyone. So she will be there. It’s not really her scene these days but she’s not opposed to trying new things. Jaina
Ygritte - She will be showing off her skills at the archery stand. It is likely where she will spend most of her time. Amber
Cordelia - She will enjoy going. Even just to enjoy the atmosphere. She loves the music and seeing everyone have fun. Alastor, Reed

Thinking of You - Fred Weasley
Tumblr media
Title: Thinking of You Pairing: Fred x fem!reader Summary: Fred and the reader are best friends. No matter what George thinks he knows. Just best friends. Best friends who are in love, that is. A/N: this is for the anon who wanted a best friends who are obviously in love with each other!! Reader is the daughter of Sirius Black and Marlene McKinnon, I tried to make it obvious but there it is in case it isn’t clear!! Feedback is always welcomed and requests are open!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“So, any fun plans for this summer?” Lee asks, trying to break the tension in the air.
Y/N shrugs, pulling her eyes from the landscape swirling outside the train so she can look at the three boys sitting with her. Train rides home for the summer with Lee, Fred and George are easily some of the best memories they’ve made together.  They’re usually filled with loud laughter, too much chocolate and plans for their next year of pranks. They’ve been the fearsome foursome since the first day of term nearly six years ago, when Y/N had called Snape Snivellous under her breath, and Fred had laughed so loud he landed himself in detention. Fred had insisted she sit with him, George and Lee at dinner that night and the four of them have been pulling pranks and causing chaos together ever since.
But this year, this year is different. Over the past few years they’ve become accustomed to their school year ending in a less than traditional way, but it’s never stopped them from having fun together one last time as they head towards home. This year though, the last few weeks have been so tense and sad around the castle that it has carried over into their moods. Y/N has never seen Fred and George so quiet, except for the time Fred fell asleep with his head in her lap in the common room third year.
“Come on, Y/N. You’ve got to have something exciting going on. You and Remus always have summer plans,” Fred teases, nudging her knee with his.
Y/N scowls at Fred, trying to hide her smile. Her home life was certainly less than traditional, and Y/N’s friends loved to tease her about it. They didn’t tease her about the fact that she had been raised by her Godfather, but more so about the fact that she had been raised by Remus Lupin, their former professor. When Remus took up a teaching position at Hogwarts during their 5th year, Y/N had no choice but to reveal to her friends just exactly why their new professor knew her so well. They had all thought it was pretty cool, but unfortunately for Y/N it raised more questions about her home life than it had answered.
She rolls her eyes, shoving Fred lightly. “We went on a road trip one summer and you’re still giving me shit about it? Pathetic,” she teases with a giggle. Fred throws his arm around her shoulder and messes with her hair. “If Remus,” she mocks, sticking her tongue out at Fred as she leans into his side. “Has planned anything then he hasn’t said anything.”
Y/N swallows thickly, trying to force the lump in her throat away. She hates lying to her friends, but she’s on strict orders from Dumbledore not to say anything. Now that Voldemort has returned secret plans have been made, the biggest of them being the reformation of the Order of the Phoenix. Remus had moved into Order headquarters a few days before the end of term, and she’d be joining him there for the summer.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever you say,” Fred chides before he turns his attention to Lee.
Y/N lets herself snuggle into Fred’s side, a small smile appearing on her face when his grip around her tightens. George gives her a knowing look, and she sticks her tongue out at him, a pink blush creeping up on her cheeks. Despite whatever George thinks is going on with her and Fred, Fred Weasley is her best friend and absolutely nothing more.
-
“Dad!” Y/N squeals excitedly before she’s running down the entry hall of 12 Grimmauld Place and into her father’s open arms.
Sirius chuckles and wraps his arms around his daughter tightly. “Hello there little one. I’ve missed you.”
Y/N pulls away from her dad, a bright smile on her face, unable to contain her happiness. She’d been dreaming of the day that she’d get to live with Sirius and be a proper family since the end of last year, when the truth about James and Lily’s death was made clear. Y/N had only gotten to see her dad briefly before he had to flee, and she’d spent quite a bit of her free time thinking about him over the past year.
“Oh no, Y/N, Sirius, don’t worry. I don’t need a hand. I’ve got it,” Remus huffs, his tone teasing. Y/N turns back towards the door, giggling as Remus struggles to pull her trunk through the door. “What in Merlin’s sake do you have in this thing? It didn’t weigh this much when I dropped you off at Kings Cross in September.”
“I may or may not be harboring some things for the Weasley twins,” she admits with a laugh.
Remus gives her a disapproving look to try and hide the gleam of mischief in his eyes. He takes out his wand, waving it so that her trunk is now floating. “Harboring what? Is there something illegal in there? I know what Fred and George get up to.”
Y/N rolls her eyes and laughs along with Sirius. “It’s nothing like that, Remus. I promise. It’s just some stuff they’ve been developing for their joke shop. If Molly finds it she’ll destroy it, so Fred gave it to me to hold onto for a bit. Not a big deal.”
“Come on, Remus, don’t be a stick in the mud,” Sirius chides. “We got up to quite a bit of mischief in our younger days. It’s only natural that Y/N does as well. She’s got the blood of one Marauder and she was raised by another, that’s double the mischief.”
Y/N can tell that Sirius is trying to joke, but his voice shakes. She and Sirius have corresponded a few times since he flew off on Buckbeak and many of her letters contained stories of things her and Remus had done as she grew up. Often times Sirius’ replies were filled with apologies and regret that he had missed out on doing those things with her.
“As long as it’s nothing illegal I’ll let it slide,” Remus says quietly a few moments later. He directs Y/N’s trunk to fly down the hallway and up the stairs. “Second door on the right, yes?”
Sirius nods and puts his arm around Y/N’s shoulder, squeezing tightly. “That’s right. I spent all week preparing your room.” He looks down at Y/N with a reassuring smile. “Alright then, let’s head down to the kitchen for something to eat.”
-
“Have you got the rest of the rooms cleaned out, Sirius? Our guests will be arriving in a few hours,” Remus says as he takes a sip of coffee.
Y/N frowns, looking between Remus and her dad. “Guests? What guests?”
It’s only two weeks into summer break and Y/N has been enjoying every minute of it. Remus has been in and out of the house doing things for the Order, so she and Sirius have had plenty of time to connect. The house is pretty busy as is, with Order members fliting in and out at all hours of the night, so Y/N can’t imagine it getting any crazier.
Sirius and Remus share a look before Sirius turns to look at Y/N. “Dumbledore has fully briefed the Weasley family on what’s going on, and Arthur and Molly have joined the order. And since Arthur works at the ministry and their son Percy is an assistant to Fudge, Dumbledore thinks it’s best that they stay somewhere that’s under protection.”
“So, the Weasleys are going to be spending the rest of the holiday here?” Y/N asks, her cheeks heating up. When Remus nods she bites her lip. “Do they know? That Sirius is, you know, my dad?”
“You haven’t told them yourself?” Sirius asks. Y/N can hear the hurt in his voice.
Remus shakes his head. “Dumbledore told Arthur and Molly I’m sure, and Ron knows because of Harry, but I don’t think the Twins or Ginny know.” He turns to Sirius then. “We talked about this, Sirius. For Y/N’s safety no one knows you’re her father, that’s why she has Marlene’s last name. We all know that you’re innocent, but the rest of the Wizarding World doesn’t. It was smart of Y/N not to tell anyone except for those who know the truth about you.”
Y/N watches Remus and Sirius look at each other as if they’re having a conversation without even saying anything. “If it makes you feel better,” she says softly, causing both men to look over at her. “I only told them Remus is my Godfather because he started teaching at Hogwarts. He ruined my mysterious reputation.”
Sirius laughs, breaking the awkward tension that had fallen over them. “It does make me feel a bit better, yes.”
“Hey now, I won’t have any of this. You two ganging up on me. Y/N you’re supposed to be on my side,” Remus teases. “Now hurry up and finish your breakfast, you need to get a start on your summer reading. You remember that reading, Sirius? The reading I told you to make sure she started last week?”
Sirius puts his hands up. “I have no idea what you’re talking about,” he says innocently, sending Y/N a wink.
After breakfast Y/N does reluctantly head up to her bedroom to start on her summer reading.  And she has every intention of doing it. But as she settles into her fluffy bed and starts to read about some transfiguration method she can’t help but let her eyes close, dreams of what shenanigans she and her friends may get up to this summer floating through her mind.
-
“Five more minutes, Remus,” Y/N mumbles, batting away the finger that’s poking her in the cheek. When the poking persists she opens her eyes, a noise of surprise coming out of her mouth. “Fred? George?” she asks in surprise, suddenly sitting up. She starts to fix her hair, a light flush on her cheeks. “What in the hell are you two doing here?”
“We could ask you the same thing, Y/N,” Fred says, sitting down on the edge of her bed.
“Yeah, imagine our surprise when we enter what we think will be our room for the summer,” George continues, taking a seat on the edge of the other side.
“And we see you, peacefully sleeping in a bed,” Fred says, leaning a bit closer to Y/N.
“In Sirius Black’s house,” they finish together.
“There is a perfectly reasonable explanation for that,” she starts, trying to figure out how to explain one of her deepest secrets to her best friends. They both look at her expectantly and she starts to twirl a piece of hair around her finger. “Sirius Black is my dad,” she mumbles.
Fred and George give her identical looks of disapproval. “Gonna have to speak up, love. We’re old men now, being 17 and all. We’re a bit hard of hearing,” Fred teases, lightly nudging her foot.
Y/N rolls her eyes, ignoring the feeling she has in her stomach from Fred’s pet name and touch. “Sirius is my dad. And not like how you guys like to tease me and say Remus is my dad. He’s my full on. Blood related. Dad.”
“Blimey, Y/N. You’ve been holding out on us. What are we going to find out next? Your mother is the Queen?” George teases with a laugh.
“You’re an idiot, you know who my mum is,” she says with a light laugh, leaning forward to punch George in the shoulder.
Fred wraps his hand around Y/N’s ankle and squeezes lightly, causing her to look over at him. “You have been holding out on us. How come?” he asks, trying to keep the same jokey tone his brother had to hide his genuine hurt.
“Because it’s pretty hard to make friends when the world thinks your dad is one of Voldemort’s biggest supporters,” she answers honestly. “That’s the reason why Remus changed my last name back to my mum’s when he got custody. My mum and her family, they died heroes, that’s the legacy that Remus wanted me to have.”
Fred squeezes her ankle again and Y/N tries to pretend that it doesn’t cause goosebumps to erupt up her leg. “But what about after? When you found out about what really happened?”
Y/N shrugs, looking away from Fred’s gaze. She knows that she could have told them the truth after she had learned it herself and she’s not really sure why she didn’t. “I dunno. You guys had just barely found out about Remus. It just seemed easier to keep it to myself.”
“So, it’s not because you secretly hate us and don’t really want to be our friend?” George asks with a grin.
Y/N grabs a pillow from behind her and throws it at his head. “You’re a moron, George.” Y/N fidgets, suddenly very aware that she is still in her pajamas. “Now shouldn’t you boys be doing something else? Like unpacking your things or bothering I dunno, anyone else in this house?”
George looks from Y/N to the place where Fred is still holding onto her ankle and gives her a glance that Y/N knows means he’ll be bringing this up to her later. She grabs another pillow and throws it at him. “Fine, fine, we’re leaving,” he laughs.
“Wow, someone is feeling feisty,” Fred teases. He squeezes her ankle one last time before he gets up and follows George out of her room. “Oh, by the way, nice Pj’s,” he teases, causing Y/N to throw her last pillow at him.
-
“Y/N dear, it’s lovely to see you!” Molly greets as Y/N enters the kitchen a bit later. Y/N smiles at her and accepts her warm hug. Having Molly in her life was certainly one of the best perks of being friends with Fred and George. Molly radiated warmth and was always willing to open her home and her heart to her children’s friends; something Y/N was always thankful for.
“Hi Molly. I’m so glad you’re here. Remus and Sirius are pretty awful cooks,” Y/N says with a laugh as she goes to sit down. She tries to take a seat next to George, but Fred grabs her arm and pulls her towards him instead. Y/N flicks Fred on the ear and takes a seat in between them, hoping to avoid more teasing remarks from George later on.
Sirius eyes the interaction between Y/N and Fred carefully, a small smirk forming on his lips. “Now while I can’t speak for Moony, I did just spend 12 years in Azkaban,” Sirius chides a moment later.
“I see why you always beg to spend the Holidays at the Burrow, Y/N,” Remus teases, choosing to ignore Sirius.
“Oh yeah it has everything to do with Mum’s cooking,” George pipes up, his tone a clear indication that Y/N’s yearning to spend time at the Burrow has little to do with Molly’s cooking.
Y/N hits George upside the head, causing Ginny and Fred to burst out in laughter. “Well I obviously don’t go there to spend more time with you, git”
“Okay, okay, that’s enough out of you lot,” Molly scolds lightly as trays of food start to fly onto the table. “Y/N is welcome at our home anytime no matter the reason.”
Y/N sticks her tongue out at George and reaches for a sandwich, her hand brushing Fred’s as he goes to grab the same one. “You take it,” she says quietly, letting her hand linger near his for a moment.
Fred grabs the sandwich and puts it on Y/N’s plate with a wink. “Nah you have that one, I’ll take this one.” Fred winks at her again as he takes the sandwich Ron was about to close his hand around.
“Hey!” Ron shouts in annoyance.
“Sorry ickle Ronniekins, gotta be faster than that,” Fred teases with a laugh.
Y/N laughs along with him, trying to ignore the warmth Fred’s hand gives off as it rests on her knee.
-
“I really am doing my reading, Remus, I promise!” Y/N shouts after someone knocks on her door.
Y/N had spent most of the day with Fred and George, getting caught up on the new item they’d started to develop in the few short weeks it’s been since the end of term. For a while she had just laid on Fred’s bed, watching him and George pour over their notes to try and work out the issues with what they called ‘extendable ears.’ Eventually she got up and went to find Ginny, mostly to avoid George’s stare after Fred’s hand wound around her ankle again. She avoided both boys until dinner, when the topic of her reading was brought up again. Unfortunately for Y/N, George ratted her out to Remus about her mid-morning nap, and he had made her promise that she’d head up to her room after dinner to read.
“Really? That’s quite boring,” Sirius says playfully as he pushes her door open.
Y/N laughs and throws the book she had been skimming onto the bed next to her. “Oh hey, Dad.”
Sirius closes the door behind him and comes to sit on the edge of her bed. “What’s with all this summer reading anyway? Last I checked Hogwarts didn’t set homework over the summer holidays.”
“It’s not official reading. Just something Remus makes me do during the break. Keep my mind fresh or something,” she explains with an eyeroll. “It has come in handy a couple times, but don’t tell him I said that.”
Sirius winks at her and pretends to zip his lips shut. “Your secret is safe with me.” Sirius pauses for a moment. “So, what’s going on with you and that Weasley boy?”
Y/N can feel her face start to heat up, and she starts to twirl her hair around her finger. “Fred and George are my best friends. Nothing more.”
“Your mother was one of my best friends back in our Hogwarts days, and you can clearly see how that worked out,” he jokes, reaching out to tuck a stray piece of hair behind Y/N’s ear.
“Really? I didn’t know that,” Y/N says softly, trying to both avoid the current topic and find out more information. “Remus didn’t talk about you much, growing up. For obvious reasons,” she chuckles.
Sirius gives her a sad smile. “Your mother was a wild card. You never really knew what she was thinking unless she told you. She instigated quite a bit of the shenanigans James and I got into, just to see if we would actually go through with it.”
“And of course, you guys did,” Y/N laughs.
Sirius scoffs playfully. “Well duh. I was never one to back down from a challenge, especially not when it gave me the opportunity to show off for your mother. I so desperately wanted her attention; it was actually quite pathetic. James would tease me relentlessly for it, but he was no better. Lily didn’t give him the time of day until at least 6th year, no matter how hard he tried to impress her.”
“Well obviously you got her attention eventually,” Y/N says, gesturing towards herself. “I’m living proof.”
“That you are, little one,” Sirius smiles. “You remind me of her so much. Obviously not looks wise,” he adds with a laugh when Y/N gives him a look. Appearance wise there is no doubt that Sirius is Y/N’s dad, they have the same Grey eyes and dark wavy hair. “You have her spirit and her attitude. You have her ability to charm anyone in a matter of minutes. I’ve seen you use it on Remus, it’s quite uncanny really.”
Y/N blushes. Growing up Remus had told her story after story about her mother. Probably to make up for the lack of stories about her dad, but Y/N enjoyed it either way. He often told her how much she reminded him of her, but it sounds different coming from Sirius. Sirius had been in love with her mother, had known her deepest secrets and had even started a family with her. If Sirius could see Marlene in Y/N, then there’s no doubt in her mind that it’s true.
“So, just friends eh?” Sirius asks a moment later, playfully nudging Y/N’s leg.
Y/N blushes again for a different reason and nods. “Yes, just friends,” she insists.
“We’ll see about that,” Sirius says with a wink. He stands up then and looks down at her. “Now you better actually do some summer reading, before Remus forbids us from spending any time together.”
-
“How’s the summer reading going?” Fred says teasingly as he sneaks up behind Y/N.
Y/N quickly turns around and hits him on the chest lightly with her book. “You’re such an asshat. This house is creepy enough as it is, there’s no need for you to go sneaking up on people.”
Fred laughs as he jumps over the back of the sofa and sits next to Y/N, his arm resting on the piece of furniture just behind her head. “But that’s half the fun.”
“Where’s George?” she asks, turning her head to look around and make sure that he isn’t lurking around somewhere as well.
“Why? Am I not enough for you?” Fred asks with a pout.
Y/N rolls her eyes and digs her fingers into his side, tickling him slightly. “No. But I recall Molly tasked you two with getting some doxies out of the curtains in the study upstairs so if you’re slacking off he is too.”
“Me? Slacking off?” Fred asks astonishingly, grasping at his heart. “Y/N, you absolute monster! You’ve wounded me! I would never be slacking off!” He grins down at Y/N, causing her to roll her eyes again. “But to answer your question he’s upstairs recovering from a mishap with one of our nosebleed nougats.”
Y/N grimaces, a memory of Lee Jordan bleeding all over her Potions notes coming to mind. “Yikes. Still haven’t gotten them just right?” Fred shakes his head, running a hand through his hair. “You think they’ll be ready? By the start of term?”
All Fred and George have talked about for years is opening up their own joke shop someday. In the past few years they’ve become closer than ever, having already developed some successful products with more in the works. Their only real roadblock has been funding, and Fred had shared with Y/N their plan to develop something called a Skiving Snackbox that they could sell to students to help with their startup costs.
“Oh yeah, there’s no doubt in my mind,” he responds confidently. “George and I are a force to be reckon with when we’ve got our mind on something and now that we’ve got our best girl with us for the whole summer,” Fred pauses so he can wink at Y/N and she hopes that the immediate blush that appears on her cheeks isn’t noticeable. “We’ll definitely get all the kinks worked out in time.”
Fred’s arm has fallen from its’ original resting place to Y/N’s shoulder, and his fingers have started to play with her hair. She rests her head on Fred’s shoulder, her fingers fiddling with the pages of her book. Fred’s fingers tug on her hair lightly, causing Y/N to look up at him. “What’s on your mind, Y/N?” he asks softly.
Y/N shrugs. “Just thinking about next year. We’re gonna be in our last year of school in a couple of months and I still have no idea what I want to do with my life.” During her OWL year Y/N had told McGonagall that she wanted to work in the Care of Magical Creatures department at the Ministry, but she isn’t quite sure that’s exactly what she wants. “You and George have already figured everything out and I’m just kinda stuck.”
Fred scoffs. “We have far from figured everything out, Y/N. But I’m glad it appears that way,” he chuckles. “And who cares if you don’t have everything figured out yet? You’re not even 17 yet. Frankly I think it’s rubbish that we’re expected to have our lives figured out when we’re this age.” Fred bites his lip. “If it really bothers you that much, then just come work at the joke shop with George and I.”
“What?” Y/N asks in surprise, trying to hide her excitement at his casual remark. “You’d really want me to work with you? The both of you. You and George,” she says quickly, looking away from Fred to hide her embarrassment.
“Yeah, ‘course, Y/N,” Fred says with a laugh. “You’re my best friend, why wouldn’t I want you to?”
“So, I’m your best friend, hm? Can’t wait to tell Lee you said that,” she teases, trying to hide her disappointment.
“Well, don’t you too look cozy?” George asks suddenly, causing Y/N and Fred to jump apart.
Y/N turns around so she can glare at George before she throws her book at him. “Blimey you’re a menace.”
George laughs and comes over to Y/N and Fred, forcing them apart so he can sit in between them. “Hey, that’s not very nice,” George says, giving Y/N a look when she digs her elbow into his ribs.
“You couldn’t have sat in any of the other chairs in this room?” Fred groans, moving over to give George room.
“I could have,” George says playfully. “But I wanted to sit here.” George grins wickedly at Fred. “Is that a problem, dear brother of mine? That I wanted to sit next to Y/N?”
“Not at all,” Fred says as he suddenly stands up. “We should probably get to that stuff Mum wanted us to do anyway.” Fred gives George a look and starts to head towards the door. “Enjoy you’re reading, Y/N,” he says before disappearing around the corner.
Y/N glares at George before digging her fingers into his ribs, causing him to yelp. “Ow! What was that for?” he asks, rubbing his side.
“You know exactly what that was for, git. You always have to go and make things weird,” Y/N huffs, crossing her arms.
“Oh, don’t be such a drama queen, Y/N,” George says with an eye roll. “And I wasn’t making things weird, I was simply trying to facilitate a conversation that you and my brother are both too stubborn to have on your own.”
“And what conversation might that be?” Y/N asks as she swallows thickly, already knowing the answer.
“Don’t be daft,” George drawls. “You’re both stupid in love with each other, so just admit it and make out so we all can move on. It’s getting ridiculous.”
Y/N blushes and digs her fingers into George’s ribs again to hide her nerves. “I don’t have any idea what you’re talking about, George. Fred is my best friend, just like you and Lee.”
“Oh yeah, because Lee and I are always looking for an excuse to touch you, my bad,” George rolls his eyes. “Wait, that was Fred who kept grabbing your ankle yesterday, silly me.” George hits himself on the forehead jokingly. “And it definitely wasn’t Fred who just left his brother up in bed after he nearly bled to death so he could come cuddle you. Definitely not. Oh, wait.”
“Now who’s being a drama queen,” Y/N teases lightly as she begins to twirl a piece of hair around her index finger. “Friends can cuddle with each other, it’s not a big deal,” she mumbles.
“You’re right it is normal, Harry, Ron and Hermione cuddle all the time,” George responds, nudging Y/N.
Y/N scoffs at George. “Just give it a rest, George. If I did feel something more than friendship with Fred I would never act on it. Fred isn’t shy about anything, if he wanted to be more than friends he would have said something by now. So, we are clearly meant to be nothing more than friends. Which I’m fine with,” she adds, glaring at George.  “Now go help your brother with that doxy infestation before Molly finds you here and sets off that awful portrait of my grandmother again.”
-
“Finally,” Fred groans when George joins him up in the third-floor study. “Mum’s gonna be here any minute to check up on our progress and getting rid of these doxies is a two-person job.”
George rolls his eyes and takes the spray bottle Fred practically shoves into his chest. “What’s got you in a mood? Upset that I interrupted your snuggle time with Y/N?” he jokes.
“No,” Fred grumbles. When George gives him his signature ‘cut the crap’ look Fred flips him off. “We were just sitting there, talking like two friends do. You’re the one that made it weird.”
George rolls his eyes. “Have you forgotten that we’re twins? And that I can practically read your mind?”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Fred asks as he grabs his wand. He motions for George to get into place as he gets ready to cast the spell that will make the doxies fly at them. When George nods that he’s ready, Fred waves his wand and a flurry of doxies heads towards them.
“You know exactly what it means,” George grunts as he sprays the immobilizing potion at the doxies. When Fred doesn’t say anything as he starts to throw the stunned doxies in a bucket, George continues. “You very clearly have feeling for Y/N that expand beyond friendship.”
Fred glares at his brother and throws a doxie in the bucket a little too hard. “I don’t have any idea what you’re talking about. Y/N is my friend. My best friend, just like how she’s your best friend, git. Or are you claiming to be in love with her as well?”
“If she’s only your best friend then why did it bother you when I sat in between you two just now, hm?” Fred looks away from George, urging the younger twin to continue. “And what about the other day at lunch? She was going to sit next to me, and you pulled her towards you. Why? And what about that thing with the ankle? Hm? What was that all about?”
Fred turns away from George, trying to hide his blush. “Friends can be affectionate with each other, George, “ he insists. “Just because you don’t feel the need to be affectionate with Y/N doesn’t mean that I have non-platonic feelings for her because I do.”
“Oh really?” George asks curiously. “So, you wouldn’t mind if I started to show more affection for Y/N then? The same way you do?”
“Not at all,” Fred responds through gritted teeth. He stomps over to George and shoves the bucket into his stomach. “Now finish up with this, I’m going to go revamp our nougat recipe so we can avoid another bleed out.”
George smirks as Fred’s back as he storms out, a plan forming in his head.
-
“What the hell has gotten into you?” Y/N whispers into George’s ear a few days later during breakfast.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about, Y/N,” George responds with a wink.
Y/N narrows her eyes at him. “You’re up to something, I know it.”
Ever since their conversation in the lounge, George has been acting weird. He’s been insisting that she sit next to him at meals, when she hangs out with Fred and George in their room he pulls her down onto his bed and the other day he even went as far as to hold her hand while they watched Ginny and Ron play Wizard’s Chess.
“I’m just being a good friend, Y/N. Friends can be affectionate towards each other, can’t they, Fred?” George asks, suddenly turning towards his twin.
Fred glares at George. “Mhm. Of course they can.”
George then looks back at Y/N looking far too pleased with himself. “See, Y/N? I’m just doing what normal friends do.”
“Well knock it off,” she scolds lightly. “It’s weird.”
“Oh, so it’s weird when I do it, but when Fred does it, it’s a normal part of friendship,” George muses. “Interesting.”
Y/N scoffs and stands up from the table. “I’m going to go read.” She gives one last look at George before she exits the kitchen and heads upstairs.
-
“Can I come in?” Fred asks softly, leaning against the entrance to Y/N’s room. He planned on giving her some space after what went down at breakfast, but when she didn’t come down for lunch Fred decided to seek her out.
Y/N is sitting on her bed leaning up against the headboard with a book on her lap. “Yeah, sure,” she responds, not even looking up at Fred.
Fred sighs and comes to sit down next to Y/N. He leaves a small gap in between them and resists his urge to put his arm around her. “What’s going on with you? I’ve never seen you cross at George.”
“He’s just being an idiot,” she says, slamming her book shut and tossing it aside. “He’s taking the mickey out of me after a conversation we had the other day.”
Fred hums, nudging Y/N’s foot with his. “That would explain his odd behavior over the last few days. He’s been keeping you all to himself, I feel like I haven’t seen you in ages.”
Y/N blushes and punches his thigh lightly. “You know I’m just across the hall from you, right? You could have come in at any time to see me.”
“You know what I mean,” he chuckles. Fred bites his lip. “Must have been some conversation to get you both so worked up.”
“It was stupid honestly,” Y/N says with a shrug, trying to seem casual. “I just let him get to me and I shouldn’t have.”
“Yea, I got a bit stroppy at him the other day as well. That’s why he’s so quiet, he’s figuring out how to get in your head,” Fred muses with a laugh. “You’re alright though, yeah?”
Y/N nods, bumping their shoulders together. “Yeah, ‘m fine.”
“Good, now I won’t feel bad about doing this.”
Before Y/N can ask what Fred’s talking about, she’s being smacked in the head by a pillow. “Oh, it is on, Weasley!” she shouts, grabbing her own pillow.
They spend a few minutes hitting at each other, both of them laughing like crazy. Y/N manages to knock Fred’s pillow out of his hands as she lands a hit to his chest and Fred’s hands immediately fly to her sides and he starts to tickle her as a distraction. As she tries to wiggle away from him, Fred takes one hand away and knocks her own pillow to the ground.
“Okay, okay, you got me,” Y/N giggles, trying to catch her breath. Fred is hovering over her, a cheeky grin on his face. He brings a hand up to brush her hair out of her face, and Y/N tries to ignore the tingles that roll down her spine at his delicate touch. She’s suddenly very aware of Fred’s weight on top of her and a pink blush starts to creep up her neck.
“Oi! Lovebirds!” Ginny shouts, a laugh falling from her lips when Fred nearly falls off of Y/N’s bed as he tries to get up.
“What, Gin?” Fred runs a hand through his hair, trying to act casual.
“Mum needs help getting rid of some creature stuck under a bed upstairs, if you’re not too busy here,” she chuckles, gesturing towards Y/N.
Fred nods and shoots a grin at Y/N. “See ya later.” Fred heads out of her room, shoving Ginny as he goes.
-
“Damn,” Y/N mutters to herself. She was trying to tiptoe down into the kitchen to grab a snack before dinner, but the door to the stairwell is shut tightly. “Stupid Order.” She’s about to turn around and head back upstairs, when she hears some noise coming from the sitting room.
“Are you two playing Wizard’s Chess?” she asks in surprise. When she first entered the sitting room, she wasn’t sure what to expect, but Y/N certainly didn’t think it would be Fred and George sitting on either side of the coffee table, with Ron’s Wizard Chess board between them.
George rolls his eyes as one of his pieces moves across the board. “Don’t act so shocked, Y/N. Contrary to popular belief Fred and I in fact have brains and we use them from time to time.”
“I’m not shocked because you’re doing something that involves thinking,” she chides as she takes a seat on the sofa. “I’m shocked because you’re doing something quiet and innocent.” Fred leans back against Y/N’s legs, and his left hand winds around her left ankle. “Figured you two were up in your room working on those extendible ears again.”
Fred huffs as one of his pieces gets destroyed by one of George’s. “We were, ‘til Mum walked in on us and confiscated it. She’s going to Kings Cross after dinner to pick up Hermione, so we’re just killing time until we can go and nick it back.”
“And your nosebleed nougats? You figured that one out?” Y/N asks, starting to run her hands through Fred’s hair.
“Yup, turns out we weren’t using enough Billywig Sting Slime in the antidote candy, so it wasn’t strong enough to stop the bleeding,” George responds, not even bothering to look up at her.
Y/N groans. “You guys are boring. I’m going back to my room.” She moves to stand up, but Fred tightens his grip on her ankle.
“No,” he coos. “Stay, please.” Fred tilts his head back so he can pout up at Y/N. “We’ll be more entertaining, I promise.”
“Yeah, this game is over anyway,” George says with a grin. “Checkmate.”
Fred groans as his final piece falls. “I’ll get you next time.”
“Yeah sure you will,” George laughs. “Moving on to more exciting things, someone’s birthday is coming up.”
“That’s right! In just a few weeks little Y/N will finally be the big 17,” Fred teases, squeezing her ankle again.
Y/N kicks at him lightly. “Oh, shove off, I’m only a few months younger than you lot.”
“But we’re still older than you, and that’s what matters,” George teases. “So, what do you wanna do for your birthday?”
Y/N shrugs, she honestly hadn’t even thought about it. Her and Remus never really made a big deal about her birthday. They’d pick up some takeout from a muggle restaurant and later in the evening they’d have cake and she’d open up her presents. It was never anything special, and Y/N was fine with that.
“Just figured we’d do the usual, if I’m honest. Dinner, cake, some presents. Nothing crazy,” she responds a moment later.
Fred frowns up at her. “That’s it?”
“Figured you’d do something big; a young witch only turns 17 once ya know,” George says.
Y/N nods. “Yeah, that’s what I always do. Why would this year be any different?”
“I don’t know, maybe because your two best friends in the whole world are here to celebrate it with you?,” Fred teases.
“And your father is too,” Sirius says, causing all three of them to turn and look at him.
“Blimey dad, you scared me. How long have you been standing there?”
Sirius smiles at Y/N and steps farther into the room, his forearms resting on the back of the sofa. “Just a few minutes, the Order meeting just got out.”
Y/N can hear shuffling as people head past the sitting room towards the entrance of Grimmauld Place. “Anything exciting happening?” she asks hopefully.
Despite the fact that Fred and George have already reached adulthood in the Wizarding World and Y/N’s 17thbirthday was only a few weeks away, none of them had been allowed to join the order or attend meetings. Y/N had begged Remus to let her join not too long after summer started, and he had firmly put his foot down. Fred and George had managed to get their extendible ears up and running for them to eavesdrop on the meetings, but everything said ended up translated into Spanish.
“You know as much as I would like to share that information with all of you,” Sirius says slowly, looking from Y/N to the twins. “I can’t. For one it is classified information per Dumbledore’s orders,” Sirius rolls his eyes. “And two, your mother will have my head and mount it on the wall if I say anything to you boys.”
Y/N groans. “This is such bullshit. We’re old enough to be considered adults and yet we’re not allowed to make decisions for ourselves.”
“Why haven’t you joined the order?” Fred asks, squeezing Y/N’s ankle so she’ll look down at him. “Obviously George and I can’t because of Mum but why haven’t you? Sirius is clearly fine with it.”
“Because Remus said no,” she explains with an eyeroll, as if the answer is obvious. Y/N can hear Sirius shift uncomfortably behind her.
“And? Sirius is your dad. That’s got to count for something,” George points out.
Y/N frowns, she honestly hadn’t even thought about that. Sirius is her dad, and Remus may have been the one who raised her, but he’s not her dad. Y/N loved growing up with Remus, and she’s thankful that he sacrificed so much of his life so that she could be raised by someone who loved her and cared about her wellbeing. But Sirius is free from Azkaban now and they’re living under the same roof. Why shouldn’t Sirius be the one making her decisions?
“Makes sense to me,” Sirius says. “So, Y/N, you have my blessing. If you want to join the Order once you turn 17, then do it. You’re right. In the eyes of the ministry you become an adult in a few weeks, and you should be the one making your decisions.”
Y/N smiles up at her dad. “Guess this birthday will be a bit different than normal.”
-
“So, I’ve been trying to figure out what to get you for your birthday,” Fred muses as he comes to sit on the edge of Y/N’s bed.
Y/N resists her urge to pull him closer, instead choosing to nudge his side with her foot in the hopes that he’ll grab her ankle again. As weird of a gesture it might be, Y/N actually really enjoys it. “Is that why I’ve barely seen you? Too busy thinking?” she teases, a hint of seriousness in her voice.
Once Hermione arrived at Grimmauld Place it seemed like Molly was kicked into overdrive. She had them working like crazy to get the house cleaned and free of the magical pests that had taken residence in the empty house. Any free time they had Fred and George spent locked up in their room, meaning Y/N has only seen them at meals for the past week.
“Aw, did you miss me?” he asks playfully, his hand winding around her ankle. “George and I have just been busy is all. We’ve finally got the extendible ears transmitting in English, and we managed to get the Fainting Fancies to taste like caramel instead of ear wax.”
“That’s good, I guess,” she mumbles.
Fred squeezes her ankle lightly. “Oh, come on don’t be like that. You’re still my best girl.”
“You could have at least invited me to join,” Y/N says, trying to keep from smiling at their contact.
“Hey, I wanted to invite you in,” Fred says defensively. “But George kept spouting about how I get distracted when you help us, and we never end up getting anything done so he wouldn’t let me. Fred is blushing like crazy and Y/N can’t help but smile.
“I’m just messing with you,” she chuckles, her stomach full of butterflies. “So, you’ve been thinking about what to get me, hm? Any ideas?”
“Oh loads,” Fred says, his thumb starting to rub circles on her ankle. “But nothing seems quite right.”
Y/N rolls her eyes. “Just get me what you do every year. A card that explodes and scares the shit out of me and a chocolate frog.”
Fred shakes his head. “No, it needs to be something, special. Your birthday gift to me this year was special, so I need to do something even better.”
“It wasn’t that big of a deal,” Y/N says softly, looking away from Fred. Fred and George had taken advantage of the Triwizard Tournament and had spent the days leading up to each task taking bets and sacking away the money they made for their shop. Y/N knew that Fred wouldn’t straight up take any money from her, so she had gifted him a Galleon on his birthday, insisting that it was an investment in what she knew would be a successful business.
“Yes, it was,” he insists, pinching her ankle so she’ll look up at him. “Most everyone thinks we’re mental for putting everything we have into something that may never be successful, except for you. You’ve always believed in George and I, since the first prank we ever pulled. So yeah, maybe it was just a Galleon, but it was the meaning behind it that made it special.”
“Okay, no need to be so mushy,” she teases, trying to ignore the feeling Fred’s words give her. Fred is your friend she reminds herself. It’s normal for friends to say that kind of stuff to each other. And it’s normal to feel lightheaded when they do.
Fred laughs. “Fine, don’t take my compliment. I’m still going to do something special for your birthday. Whether you think you deserve it or not.” Fred squeezes her ankle again before standing up. “Alright I’ve gotta get back to George, I was only supposed to be going to the toilet.”
Y/N lays back against her pillows as Fred leaves her room, a dopey smile on her face as she tries to deny the fact that George may have been right all along.
-
Y/N watches as Fred shuffles the stack of cards, looking far too pleased with himself. Since their conversation in her room the other night, Fred has been making more of an effort to spend time with Y/N. They’ve been playing exploding snap with Ron and George for the past 45 minutes, and Fred has somehow managed to win every game.
“Take a picture, Y/N, it’ll last longer,” Fred teases, bringing Y/N out of her thoughts.
“Don’t know why anyone would want a picture of your ugly mug,” Ron pipes up, causing Y/N to laugh.
Fred hits Ron upside the head. “I don’t see anyone fawning over you either, git. Y/N’s been staring for a good five minutes, clearly she’s entranced by my beauty.”
“Oh, in your dreams, Weasley. I’m keeping an eye on you, there’s no way you’ve been winning by pure luck. You’re up to something and I’m going to figure it out,” she says, sticking her tongue out at him.
Fred winks at her. “Sure sure, whatever you say, dear.”
“Just deal the damn cards,” George groans, clearly annoyed by their antics. “Flirt with each other later.”
Y/N watches as Fred deals the cards to them all, trying to detect any signs of deception. She frowns when nothing appears to be out of order. They play normally for a few minutes, but Y/N’s suspicion that Fred is cheating returns as he quickly pulls ahead.
“How? How are you doing it?” Y/N asks 20 minutes later as Fred celebrates another win.
“I told you, I’m not cheating. It’s okay to be jealous of my success, Y/N. You’ll get better the more you play,” Fred teases with a wink.
Y/N groans. When Fred goes to grab the cards to shuffle again, Y/N slaps her hand on top of them. “If you’re not cheating then you won’t mind if I shuffle this time,” she smirks. Fred sputters as he tries to think of a reason why Y/N shouldn’t shuffle. “I knew it! You’re charming the cards aren’t you?”
“No, of course not,” Fred says quickly, a sheepish smile on his face.
“I knew it!” Y/N shouts. “You’re a dead man, Fred Weasley!”
Fred gets up and runs around the room, Y/N following close behind him. Y/N manages to catch up and she jumps on his back, Fred’s hands automatically gripping her thighs, so she doesn’t fall.
“Do I even want to know?” Hermione asks as she steps into the room.
Fred has thrown Y/N onto the couch and is tickling her mercilessly, while George and Ron look on in disgust.
George shakes his head. “No, probably not.”
-
“There’s the birthday girl,” Sirius says with a smile as Y/N enters the kitchen. “Happy birthday.”
“Thanks, dad,” Y/N says as Sirius envelops her in a hug.
She takes a seat next to Fred when they part, a blush forming on her cheeks when he puts his arm around her and pulls her into his side. “Good morning to you too, doofus,” she teases, piling some pancakes on her plate.
“How does it feel to be an old woman?” Fred teases, causing George to laugh.
“I can’t believe our little Y/N is already so grown up,” George says playfully, pretending to wipe away a tear.
Y/N rolls her eyes as she drowns her pancakes in syrup. “You’re both insufferable, do you know that?”
Remus enters the kitchen then, a large smile on his face. “Didn’t expect to see you up so early.” He pauses behind Y/N to ruffle her hair and press a kiss to the top of her head. “Happy birthday, Y/N.”
“Thanks Remus,” she says, flicking Fred in the ear as he laughs.
“I can’t believe you’re 17 already. Seems like just yesterday your mother was laying on the beach refusing to believe she was in labor,” Sirius muses with a smile as Remus sits down.
Remus chuckles. “I remember that. I think you sent me 15 owls in the span of 45 minutes.”
“Well I was in full on panic mode, Moony. I thought Marlene was going to give birth right in the sand!”
Y/N feels like her cheeks are on fire as Fred and George snicker to themselves. “Okay, can we please talk about something that isn’t my birth? Literally anything else I’m begging.”
“Potty training, then? Because boy do I have some stories about that,” Remus teases, a laugh falling from his lips as Y/N chucks a grape at his head. “I’m only joking, no need to start a food fight.”
The kitchen starts to fill up then as everyone starts to wake up, and Y/N is thankful that all of the heat is off of her. Y/N looks around as everyone takes a seat at the table and starts to each, idle conversations popping up all around. Y/N can’t remember a time when she felt this content. Nearly all the people she cares about are sitting around the same table, it’s like every wish she’s ever made on a birthday cake has come true.
“So, Y/N, now that you’re 17 are you going to join the Order?” Ginny asks excitedly.
Before Y/N has a chance to respond Remus chuckles. “Of course not, she’s still in school. That’s the rule, no underage wizards and no wizards that are still in school.”
“That’s not the Order’s rule,” Y/N points out as she frowns. “That’s Molly’s rule for Fred and George. I no longer have the trace and I can do magic outside of school. Therefore, I’m joining the Order.”
Remus gives her a look. “Even so we talked about this at the beginning of summer. I said no, end of story.”
Y/N puts her fork down. “No, not end of story. I was 16 at the beginning of summer, now I’m 17. I can make my own choices. And besides, Sirius said it was okay.”
“Sirius’ opinion has no bearing on the matter. I told you that you’re too young to join the Order and that’s final,” Remus scolds.
“And why does my opinion have no bearing, Remus?” Sirius asks firmly. “Last I checked Y/N is my daughter, not yours.”
The air in the room is tense, and everyone looks around, trying not to pay too much attention to the exchange between Sirius and Remus.
“She might as well be. It’s not like I haven’t sacrificed the past 15 years of my life to raise her or anything since you got yourself tossed in Azkaban,” Remus responds coldly.
Y/N stands up suddenly and everyone turns to look at her. “Sorry that I was such a burden on your life, Remus. No need to worry, I’m 17 now and I can take care of myself. I wouldn’t want to inconvenience you any longer.”
With that Y/N turns on her heel and stomps out of the kitchen, a few stray tears streaming down her face.
-
“Go away,” Y/N shouts at whoever is knocking at her door. She’s lying on her side in bed, her body curled around a pillow that she’s hugging to her chest.
“Please let me in, Y/N,” Fred pleads.
Y/N sits up and wipes away the few stray tears still running down her cheeks. With a wave of her wand the door unlocks. “Fine, come in.”
Fred pushes the door open and slowly comes in, one hand behind his back. He bites his lip as shuts the door behind him, his eyes focused on Y/N. “Are you alright?” he asks softly as he takes a seat down next to her.
“Do I look alright?” she asks, gesturing towards her disheveled appearance.
Fred smiles at her. “I dunno, you look just as beautiful as you always do”
“You’re only saying that to make me feel better,” she says lamely, lightly shoving Fred’s shoulder.
“As if,” Fred scoffs. “You always look beautiful to me, Y/N. Even after you dove headfirst into that snowbank while sledding 2nd year.”
Y/N glares at Fred, but she can’t help but smile as well. “Okay fine, I’m smiling. Are you happy now?”
“Ecstatic,” Fred teases with a wink. He pauses, reaching out to grab Y/N’s hand with his free one. “Are you okay?” he asks, his voice serious. “That was, something back there.”
Y/N shrugs, squeezing Fred’s hand. “I always forget how young Remus was when I fell into his lap. I mean he was only 4 years older than we are now and suddenly he was responsible for a toddler than wasn’t even his. I know he gave up a lot to take care of me but hearing him say it like that,” Y/N’s voice cracks as tears well up in her eyes again. “It makes me feel, I dunno, bad. Like a burden.”
“Hey, now, I’ll have none of that,” he says softly, wiping away the few tears that stream down her cheeks. “First of all, you have nothing to feel bad about. It’s not your fault that Remus chose to bring you up. And second of all, honestly, love I don’t think he meant a word of what he said. He looked so awful after you left, he was really broken up about it.”
Y/N sniffles. “Really?” When Fred nods she takes a deep breath. “I shouldn’t have pushed it either. I was kind of being a brat,” she admits, sticking her tongue out at Fred when he nods in agreement. “I should go apologize.”
Y/N moves to get up, but Fred tightens his grip on her hand. “Wait, not yet.”
“What now?” Y/N groans, squeezing his hand back to let him know she’s only kidding.
“I know it’s a little too early for presents but,” he says as his other hands comes from behind his back. There’s a medium sized black box in his hand, with a big red bow right in the middle. “I can’t wait any longer to give it to you and I figured it’d make you feel better.”
“Fred,” Y/N gasps, a pink blush appearing on her cheeks to match the one on Fred’s. “I told you just to get me a chocolate frog.”
“And I told you I was going to get you something special,” he responds cheekily. He pushes the box into her hand. “Open it.”
Y/N releases Fred hand so she can open the box, her eyes not leaving his. When Fred gives her a nod of encouragement she looks down at the box, a small gasp leaving her lips. “Oh Fred.”
Inside the box is a delicate silver chain, with a silver charm in the shape of an F hanging from it. Y/N’s fingers ghost over the chain lightly, trying to find the right words to express how much she loves it. Emotions are bubbling up in her mouth, threatening to spill out everywhere and her heart is fluttering in her chest.
“Do you like it?” Fred asks nervously.
“Like it?” Y/N asks as she looks back up at Fred. “I love it Fred, it’s gorgeous. It was worth all the thinking you put into it, it’s perfect.”
Fred smiles at Y/N. “Well I settled on this particular piece of jewelry because I was able to get a matching one pretty easily.” Y/N gives Fred a look of confusion, and he chuckles as he reaches a hand into the collar of his shirt. He pulls out a necklace that looks identical to the one in Y/N’s hand, but the charm that hangs off of it is the first letter of her name.
“I charmed them, so when you touch the F on your necklace, the letter on mine warms up and when I touch the letter on mine, the F on yours does the same. That way whenever I’m thinking of you or you’re thinking of me, we can touch our charms and let the other know,” he explains softly.
“Fred that,” Y/N swallows thickly. “That is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard in my life.”
Fred clears his throat and grabs Y/N’s hand again. “It’s looking more and more like George and I aren’t going to be completing our final year at Hogwarts.” Y/N goes to say something, but Fred puts a hand up to stop her. “With the money that we made last year and the money that Harry gave us from the Triwizard tournament we were able to rent out a place in Diagon Alley. We’re still gonna start the year, it’ll give us time to test our products and start to build up a customer base, but we already decided that we’re not going to finish the year.”
Fred releases Y/N’s hand so he can cup her cheek instead. “And I can’t leave you there at Hogwarts without there being some way for me to tell you when I’m thinking of you. Because Y/N you are constantly on my mind. You are the first thing I think about in the morning and the last thing I think about before I go to sleep at night. You’re my everything. You’re my voice of reason, you’re my source of comfort, you’re my best friend and,” Fred pauses, taking a deep breath. “And you’re the love of my life.”
“Fred,” Y/N breaths.
Y/N is so overwhelmed with emotion that she can’t find the words to express everything that Fred means to her, so she does the next best thing. Y/N tentatively leans forward and lightly brushes her lips against Fred’s. Taking the hint, Fred presses their lips together in a heated kiss. Their lips move together softly, and when Fred pulls away Y/N feels lightheaded.
“I love you,” she whispers softly, kissing Fred again briefly. “At some point you became so much more than my best friend and I tried to deny it for so long, in case you didn’t feel the same. But Merlin, Fred. I am stupid, stupid in love with you.”
Fred chuckles and presses a peck to Y/N’s lips. “Thank Merlin George was right, otherwise I would have just mucked up the best thing that’s ever happened to me.” Fred pauses, taking the necklace out of its’ box. “Just don’t tell him I said that.”
“And give him the satisfaction of being right? Never,” she says with a chuckle. Y/N moves her hair out of the way so Fred can clasp the necklace around her neck. The chain is cold, and it sends a shiver down her spine. “Well, let’s see if it works then.”
“Do you doubt my abilities?” Fred teases.
As Fred grabs a hold the charm on his necklace, the F on Y/N’s starts to warm up, causing goosebumps to pop up on her chest. “Not in the slightest,” she assures, grabbing a hold of the F. Fred leans forward and presses their lips together again, both of them still desperately dripping their charms.
“To be honest with you,” George says from the doorway, looking up at Remus and Sirius. “I don’t think she’s thinking about what happened at breakfast.
Y/N and Fred laugh into each other’s mouths as Y/N fumbles around for her wand. With a wave the door slams shut. “Oh yea, there are definitely perks to being 17,” she says, pulling away from Fred’s mouth. When Fred gives her a questioning look she waves her wand again.
“What did you just cast?” he asks, allowing Y/N to pull him on top of her as she lays back on her bed.
She grins up at him, her hands gripping his neck. “A silencing charm.”
Fred presses their lips together hotly, thinking of all the non-platonic things he wants to do to Y/N.

The new teacher | Remus Lupin x reader
summary: you were in a relationship with Remus, but things ended after your best friends died. But now you meet him again.
warnings: kissing, mentions of food, none actually just fluff
song: Closure by Hayd (I love his music so much) It‘s the bold text
Y/A is your animagus
After the first war, you didn’t think that you‘d ever be happy again. You lost everyone you ever cared for. Marlene, Peter, James and Lily were murdered. Sirius betrayed them, which was probably worse. Then, there was Remus. At that time, the two of you were in a relationship. You dreamt about getting married and having a family after the war. But when you found out what Sirius did, you fell apart.
Now, you were okay again. Dumbledore offered you a job as a Muggle Studies teacher at Hogwarts, as you yourself had Muggle parents. You had a great relationship with the other teachers. Especially McGonagall, because she was the head of your house when you were at Hogwarts. The only person that made you trouble was Snape. He still wasn’t over Lily or the pranks that you and your friends played at him.
It was the first day of school in Harry‘s third year. He didn’t know that his Mum was your best friend. Or that the person that betrayed him taught you to dance, so that you could teach Remus. You smiled as the memories folded back.
„Is everything alright, Y/N?“ You turned your head to look at McGonagall.
„Hm? Oh, yeah, everything’s fine“, you answered and smiled at her.
„Have you heard that there is a new teacher this year?“
„Yes, in defense against the dark art, right?“ She hummed in agreement and smirked. „I‘m curious who it is.“
„I bet you will be happily surprised.“ She went to get the first years as you walked in the Great Hall. At the teacher‘s table were still the ‚old‘ teachers and nobody new. You took your regular seat next to Professor Sprout. The seat next to you was reserved for the new one.
„Hello, Y/N“, Sprout greeted you.
„Hello“, you smiled.
„I‘m glad to see you. Have you had a nice summer?“
„Yes, just the same old good. It was fine.“ She smiled at you and then her glance was behind you.
You were confused at first, but then realised it was the new teacher. You turned your head and said something before realising who it was. „Hi, I‘m Y/N-“ Remus too looked surprised to see you. „Remus“, you breathed out.
„Y/N“, he whispered. You got up and without thinking before your action and wrapped your arms around his neck. You were happy that he hugged you back.
„I haven’t heard anything from you in twelve years“, you said and let him go. „How have you been.“
„It was alright. It‘s still … you know?“ His face fell just as yours.
You nodded. „Yes, I know.“ You tried to smile again. „It’s nice that you are here now. I always wondered why Lockhart was here last year. I bet you‘ll be a great teacher.“
„Thanks, Y/N. You‘ve been here for a longer time now?“
„Yes, actually a few years.“ You saw Snape, who looked more dissatisfied than usually.
„Has he changed?“ Remus saw the look and your face and watched Snape now too.
„Nah, he’s still a pain in the arse. But he showers now and then .“ He laughed at your comment. His gaze roamed around the room until it fell on Harry. „It’s Harry.“
„I know. I met him on the train. He looks just like him.“
„He has her eyes.“ A small smile made it’s way on your face. But still, tears were welling up in your eyes. „The girl, that’s Hermoine Granger. She’s the smart one, you’ll see. And the boy is Ron Weasley. You remember Arthur and Molly?“ He nodded. „It’s their son.“
„Another one?“
„Yeah. Bill and Charlie already graduated. Percy is that one.“ You nodded to Percy. „The second year girl is Ginny. And the twins are Fred and George.“ You smiled. „They remind me of James and Sirius.“ You didn’t realise what you said, but felt horrible for doing it. You wanted to apologise, but just as you were about to, McGonagall entered the Great Hall followed by the first years.
You and Remus didn’t talk durning dinner and after it was done, you two went separate ways.
When you were on the way to your room, McGonagall appeared by your side. „How are you? You didn‘t look like you were happy to see Remus.“
„I am, I really am. I just don’t think that we are the same after … what happened“, you answered. „You have firewhisky in your room, don’t you?“
She smirked. „Yes, I do.“ You two went the other direction to her room. She grabbed a bottle and two glasses.
After a few drinks, you were already tipsy. „It’s not like I don’t love him anymore. I do. But maybe we fell in love before we ready.“
„Or you gave up before you were steady.“
„I don’t know“, you sighed. „All I know is that now I‘m alone.“
You let the subject drop. You talked for another hour until you went to bed.
~~~
Weeks passed by and you never really talked to Remus, even though you dearly wanted to. You wanted him to talk to you, hold you and be there for you like he had done before. But you didn’t.
The first full moon appeared. Remus looked sick and could barely stand on his feet. But what he didn’t know is that you became an animagus before you broke up. You hated knowing that he was alone during the worst. So you did what his friends did.
When the sun set you excused yourself from dinner and went to the Whomping Willow. You turned to your animagus form and entered the Shrieking Shack. Remus looked confused and surprised, but didn’t care much, because his transformation began.
Soon, a werewolf stood in front of you. The night was alright, he didn’t attack you and trusted you more and more.
You woke up before Remus and quickly made your way back to the castle before he woke up. You didn’t want to explain him that the Y/A was you.
„I know it was you“, Remus whispered in your ear at dinner.
„What?“
„The Y/A last night, it was you.“ You acted like you didn’t know what he meant, but he smiled. „I know it was you, Y/N. I know you. You should’ve told me“, he said.
„I wanted to before we broke up“, you said. He looked hurt. His gaze wandered to McGonagall and she nodded. He took your hand and led you out of the Great Hall.
„Remus, what are you doing?“, you asked, giggling like the girl you were when you played pranks with the other Marauders. He turned his head to you and smiled. Then, you came to his room.
„Do want a tea?“
You laughed harder now, but he didn’t understand why. „You asking me now if I want tea?“ He shrugged his shoulders and nodded. „Alright. Do you still have so much chocolate?“
„Of course I do. I could never live without it“, he smiled and made both of you a cup of tea. While the water was boiling, he grabbed chocolate and gave it to you.
„Thanks“, you said.
He sat down at the table, you took the seat in front of him. There was silence, you could just hear how the two of you sipped your tea.
„Y/N, I am so sorry“, he said eventually. „I know I should’ve wrote you. I shouldn’t have broke up with you in first place. I guess sometimes you find thе one but the timing's off and the place is wrong.“
You were shocked by what he said. And confused in first place. „W-What are you trying to say?“
„Maybe we would‘ve been closer if we were a couple years older. But we are now.“
„I - Remus, what?“ You were more than confused now. But sure happy about what he said. „I never stopped loving you, you know?“, you said.
„Me neither.“ You had no idea what to say. You two just confessed your love to each other. But a smile crept across your face.
When Remus stood up, you did the same. In a matter of seconds, his hands were on your cheeks, your arms around his neck to pull him down to you and his lips pressed against yours.
It was like you dreamt of it the last days. How it was back then. But you were sure that it lasted for forever now.
Moon Knight episode 4 ramblings
So.. I couldn't wait a week when I saw that screencap of Marc and Steven together so... I just HAD to watch episode 4.
I am SO going to end up doing a review like with Supernatural, ain't I? And DEAR LORD DON'T LET THAT PLOT BUNNY IN MY HEAD!
AHEM
So, obviously, Steven Grant is my woobie husbando, he will ALWAYS be my woobie husbando and I adore him. Thing is, yes, I used to love him from the comics, but in the comics? I am a bit more of a Marc girl. Here? Oh, god, Oscar Isaac gives Steven SO MUCH LOVE and so much personality that I just can't not love Steven as my #1.
If you don't read the comics, I have to explain. While TV Marc has pretty much 99% of Comic Marc's personality, mannerisms and backstory (Seriously, as of episode 4 the only difference is the fact that he MARRIED Layla whereas Comic Marc never married Marlene, and Marlene was present when her father died so there was no way to blame Marc for it. And now, I wonder where TV Frenchie is), TV Steven is NOTHING like Comic Steven. Comic Steven (Who is currently, ahem, literally in a sarcophagus in Marc's mind so, lol) started as... well, to be as nice as I can? A Bad Bruce Wayne copy. He had to be rich, to get Marc and Jake money for Moon Knight stuff, but he was... very vapid. And while Lemire did a lot for him (I think by now you know I WORSHIP Lemire's Moon Knight run) , he was stilll... the less useful personality. Even as he was also the oldest AND the one created to protect Marc from very nasty memories and encounters with a pedo nazi. I wish I was kidding about that last part.
But here? Here Steven could easily be the ACTUAL uhm, don't want to say first or original as I know that's the wrong word but... born to the body? And if he isn't? It doesn't matter because he STILL has a life. He is geeky as hell, he's charming, he's shy. Seeing him geek out in episode 3 about being in the Pyramid of Giza and now here when he found Alexander the Great's tomb? Those things make him far, far more real for me than him kissing Layla (Although that was to be expected. In Moon Knight, the ONE thing that the three personalities have in common is always their love interest. I don't think there was ever a run in which only one of the alters loved the current designated love interest or each alter had their own love interest. Marlene is... Pretty much untouchable right there with Mary Jane Watson) because those are things that are HIS, and not shared with Marc.
Speaking of, poor Marc. He is REALLY lost without Khonshu, for all he yelled and screamed about Khonshu being an ass. And... uhm.. HOW many gods have the egypcian pantheon stoned? Seriously, it's about time they start re-thinking their approach or Lokigator could take over in three seconds flat. And probably do a better job of protecting humanity.
I do wonder if that third sarcophagus at the end was Jake. I do hope it was Jake. I am DYING to meet Jake and see what Oscar Isaac does with him, given how perfectly different Steven and Marc are. And how little episodes we have left to meet him!
Ethan Hawke, btw, is also deserving of an Oscar (Just not Oscar Isaac, no RPF here). His "Steven Grant" was hilariously Shatnery, and his Dr. Harrow nice enough to ALMOST believe his worry for Marc. ALMOST.
May Calamawy is perfect, and I hadn't mentioned her before, sorry, but Too many things in my head. I love how Layla is so strong and so capable of taking care of herself. YES she is broken, and YES she has the worst husband ever (not that Marc is bad. He's just bad at communicating) but HELL if she's going to let that stop her from doing the right thing!
Loved seeing Crawley moving! Even if it was so short. And the asylum sequence was perfect and seriously, right out of Lemire's. I missed Khonshu, but, well, he's a bit petrified right now.
I'll admit, there was only ONE thing that I disliked from the episode, and it was Arthur's scene with Layla. Not because it was not gorgeous, incredibly shot, acted and photographed. The scene itself was great, especially as Arthur only used ENOUGH information to make Layla doubt Marc, without actually LYING to her (Seriously, he reminds me so much of The Truth... he's like a mixture of The Truth and Sun King and of course, Dr. Emmit - aka Ammit, who is a woman in the comics a- that I love him) BUT... it makes pretty clear that the scene in the Asylum is not REAL. That Marc is NOT imagining everything, and that whatever it's going on in the asylum is fake even BEFORE we meet Taweret because it's something that neither Marc nor Steven witnessed. So it makes it a bit obvious that yeah, our guys are a bit crazy, but not THAT crazy.
OTOH, I dunno how I would've kept that amazing scene later as a flashback so... I can live with it. After all, we are not that deep in mindgames that we'd think this is all in Marc's head (because btw, I LOVED that the one who woke in the Asylum was Marc and not Steven, since Steven would've made more sense given the whole "maybe you are imagining everything" angle.
Khonshu, these ramblings are getting longer every time. Damn you Marvel for only giving us 6 episodes! Please, be nice and, as you did with Loki, give us a second season!
A Foreign Affair
Tumblr media
Billy Wilder occasionally made films that were too cynical for their times. ACE IN THE HOLE (1951) is now looked on as one of his best films. KISS ME, STUPID (1964) is still in need of a serious reappraisal. In both cases, I think the acting is partly the reason for their current standing. The performances in the former are universally excellent. The latter —despite strong work from Kim Novak, Dean Martin and Felicia Farr — has some more problematic work. At the time of its release, his post-war black comedy A FOREIGN AFFAIR (1948) raised a lot of issues about taste, with jokes about Nazis, the black market and even the concentration camps (I think the scene with the man whose son keeps painting swastikas everywhere is a hoot). But the real sticking point is the acting, with 2 ¾ good performances in the leading roles. As a prim Iowa congresswoman investigating military morale in Berlin and hot on the trail of ex-Nazi cabaret singer Marlene Dietrich, Jean Arthur seems stiff and forced in her early scenes. It’s as if she can’t get inside the character. Once she melts under the advances of captain John Lund, however, she blossoms. Lund is an intelligent actor, but he’s no farceur, and the scenes in which Arthur enlists him to help ferret out the officer helping clean up Dietrich’s reputation (it’s him, of course) fall flat. But when he has a serious speech explaining why military men are making fools of themselves over German women, the performance clicks into gear, albeit only briefly. As his commanding offer, Millard Mitchell is much stronger. There’s a sequence in which he takes the visiting congressional committee on a tour of bombed-out Berlin where he delivers his cynical lines with just the right pitch. It may be a perfect expression of Wilder’s own cynicism. But it’s really Dietrich who owns the picture. Her first scene with Lund is surprisingly vulnerable, but she eventually emerges as a born survivor, with a speech about her life in Germany that goes to some pretty dark places. She also gets three songs by Frederick Hollander (who wrote “Falling in Love Again) closely related to the plot with one, “Illusions,” that’s a terrific example of using song as a vehicle for acting. And if you really want to make your head explode, consider that with Lund’s weak work, he really seems more the focus of libidinal energy between the two female stars, a lesbian version of homosocial triangulation.
For @sweeethinny ‘s amazing prompt: ‘Instead of Harry seeing Molly's boggart, he sees Lily's, and faces him and his father dead on the floor, while his mother panics’.
Thanks again for this prompt! I always love to explore Lily and Harry’s relationship!
Read on AO3 or below the cut:
______________________________
Harry's smile doesn't reach his eyes.
Lily has been stealing glances in his direction all night, ever since she got home from her shift, and even though he is talking and eating and acting normal, she can see there is something restrained about him.
She looks around, trying to understand what is dampening his mood - not that it would need much lately, but still, he should be more thrilled about returning to Hogwarts tomorrow, especially considering their fear that he would be expelled. Everything seems normal, though. The kitchen is full of people talking and drinking, enjoying that last-minute party, and everyone's mood seems better than usual. She sees Ron listing the qualities of his new broom to Tonks, while Hermione is talking with Remus about her project of rights for house-elves. Both Ron and Hermione are still beaming because of today’s news.
She raises her eyes to the banner Molly hanged over the dinner table. That brings a warm smile to her lips; Molly had sounded more cheerful than Lily had seen her all summer when she had told proudly of Ron being made a prefect.
Then her eyes fall on Harry again. He is looking wistfully at the banner, with just a hint of guilt shining in his eyes.
Understanding hits her.
He wanted to be a prefect.
That doesn't make much sense for her, considering how Harry always inspired himself in James and how much Harry doesn’t seem to particularly care for authority figures, but there is disappointment and hurt in his eyes, no matter how much he tries to hide it.
Maybe it was some expectation that Dumbledore would choose him? Or he feels that people don’t trust him anymore? Or maybe he is feeling like he let his parents down for not being a prefect?
Whatever it is, she will have to do something about it. This would be easier if James was there that night - Harry does have a tendency to always hear whatever his dad says -, but since he is away on Order duty tonight, Lily will handle it alone.
She looks around once more before locating Sirius and Ginny talking animatedly to each other; they are close enough to Harry so he will be able to hear them talking, so she approaches them.
‘Aubrey’s head was twice the normal size’, Sirius is saying, opening his hands to emphasize it, almost hitting Lily. ‘Oh, sorry, Lily’.
‘No harm done’, she says lightly. ‘Are you telling the infamous balloon head prank?’
‘I will let you know it’s one of the best Marauders pranks to date’, Sirius replies, seeming very proud of himself.
‘Don’t believe him, they originally wanted Aubrey’s head to shrink’, she tells Ginny conspiringly, making Ginny smirk. ‘And they didn’t even try to hide it, it led them directly into detention. No wonder you never made prefect’.
She knows Harry is looking in their direction, but she pretends to not notice.
‘Can you imagine, you and James as prefects?’
Sirius shudders, putting his hands over his heart and looking properly scandalous, just as Lily knew he would be.
‘We would never! Plus we would have to give ourselves detentions on a daily basis’.
‘Like Remus ever gave you any’, she scoffs playfully.
‘Well, he could turn a blind eye on us sometimes. Ok, most of the time’, Sirius concedes when Lily just raises her eyebrows. ‘But I remember a certain Head Girl doing the same’.
Lily laughs shamelessly.
‘If I didn’t catch you, how could I do anything? And with James as Head Boy, you certainly learned to avoid being caught’.
‘It sure helps when your best friend is Head Boy and decides the patrolling routes’, Sirius agrees, grinning.
‘Hang on’, Ginny says, frowning. ‘James was a Head Boy? Your James?’
Lily sees Harry joining their circle and she smiles to herself.
‘Yeah, we were as shocked as you when we found out’, says Sirius dramatically.
‘But he wasn’t a prefect -’
‘Head Boy and Head Girl may have been prefects, but if the headmaster thinks someone else should be, he can choose’, Lily explains. ‘It doesn’t matter whether you were a prefect or not, as long as you are responsible and trusting, really’.
‘You know, that was the only time I really considered telling Dumbledore we were animagi - we couldn’t let him think James was responsible -’
‘Come on’, Lily says fairly. ‘He had improved a lot by our seventh year, it made sense he would be a Head Boy’.
‘Oh, don’t tell my mum that’, Ginny pleads in a hushed whisper. ‘There is no way I will be a prefect next year, but then she might hope I get sense enough to be a Head Girl’. Ginny turns to Harry, shaking her head in fake panic, and Harry lets out an amused laugh.
They all laugh then, and Lily feels good when she sees Harry is more relaxed now as if remembering his father wasn’t prefect either is enough to raise his spirits.
She doesn’t say it and she doesn’t really mind, but she thinks Harry could be a Head Boy in a couple of years. Harry does have the leadership she saw in James in their last year at Hogwarts, even if he doesn’t mind breaking the rules now and then. But if he is not chosen, that will be fine for her too.
Lily hopes Harry understands this.
She shares a drink with Sirius, who is still telling adventures of the Marauders to Ginny, while keeping an eye on Harry. He drifts off to talk with Fred and George and Mundungus - a trio that speaks of trouble for her -, then he leaves them to sit on a chair, pretending to be busy drinking a butterbeer. His face is troubled once more and Lily resists the urge to sigh.
Harry’s changes of mood are more erratic than she can deal with these days. She always thought Death Eaters and bigotry would be the biggest challenges in her life, but now she thinks understanding teenage behaviour is much more difficult.
She throws a sympathetic look at Molly, who is yawning now, admiring the fact that Molly dealt with that seven times.
‘Oh, sorry, Lily’, Molly says, flushing. ‘I just woke up so early today…’
Lily smiles.
‘Go get some rest, Molly. I patch things up here later’. And when Molly opens her mouth, looking worried, Lily smiles. ‘I won’t let them stay up late, I promise’.
‘Thank you, dear. I am really tired… I’ll just sort out that boggart before I turn in -’
‘No, no, let me’, Lily offers. ‘Is that thing shaking the cabinet in the drawing room?’
‘Yes, Alastor confirmed to me tonight it’s a boggart’.
‘That’s on me then. Go rest’, Lily insists. ‘You already made too much today - helping to sort out that last-minute shopping list, this nice dinner. I’ll handle the boggart later, I will have to wait for James to come home anyway’.
Molly looks at her with a knowing expression.
‘I can never sleep before Arthur returns too’, she murmurs, and Lily is familiar with the fear shining in Molly’s brown eyes.
‘Everything is going to be okay’, she says calmly, even though they both know it is an empty promise.
Molly bides her good night and Lily watches her go.
It really must be more difficult for her, Lily thinks. Seven children, one of them not talking with the family, and Molly already lost her two brothers in the first war. That makes the Weasley braver than her and James, she ponders; they aren’t hunted. They are choosing to be part of this war.
They really are the best family. She thanks silently the day Harry decided to sit together with Ron on the Hogwarts Express.
Speaking of her son, Mad-Eye is talking to him, showing him something, and even though Alastor looks as delighted as he can be, Harry seems to be sick.
Lily turns in his direction, determined to fix the situation again, but before she can reach them, Sirius distracts Mad-Eye and Harry escapes, crossing the kitchen in quick steps and slipping through the door before anyone can talk to him.
Great.
She walks to Mad-Eye and sees he is showing around an old photograph of the first Order of the Phoenix, that finally comes to her hand. Lily looks at herself, smiling hand-in-hand with James, and is startled to see how young they both look. Well, not just them. Everyone.
And those who are not here anymore look even younger.
She sees Marlene’s grin and Dorcas’s wistful smile and longing burns inside her for those evenings talking in the Common Room, for their girl’s night out after ending Hogwarts, for all the plans they made. They are so happy and hopeful in her memories, blissful to the fact Dorcas would face Voldemort alone, or that Marlene and all her family would perish in a fire.
She never said goodbye to any of them.
‘What were you talking about with Harry, Alastor?’, she asks in a quiet voice, returning the photo to him as if the distance can lessen the pain that photograph brings to her. She feels a little bit mad at him for bringing this photo to a party.
It’s not like she can or wants to forget all of those who died - it’s just she did not expect to see the reminder of all they lost so suddenly...
‘Just showing the boy the original group. Thought he might like it - so many stories to tell’.
Lily wonders if he told Harry the tragic end of most of those stories and she grimaces at the thought.
Harry doesn’t return so, after a while, Lily leaves the kitchen too. People are still talking animatedly and there are still a few minutes before she will have to break the party. But Lily doesn’t feel like chatting right now, so she may as well get things done. She considers going to see Harry, to check if his things are all packed for tomorrow, but he probably doesn’t want company. He is like her in that sense; prefers to be left alone to brood.
She enters the drawing room, looking around with mild interest. The children did make a good job cleaning everything up, but Grimmauld Place will never seem a happy place. Too many bad memories and dark thoughts, she thinks, as Kreacher passes behind herself, mumbling to himself and glaring at her.
Sirius forbade him of saying mudblood, but she only needs to look him in the eyes to feel the word.
There is nothing she can do about it and Lily prefers to fix on the problems she can solve anyway.
The cabinet close to the window is giving small jumps as if it’s alive. She walks to it, her mind already fixed on the remembrance of Aubrey with that big balloon head (he had really been a jerk and James and Sirius had pranked him for harassing first years muggle-borns, so she hadn’t mind laughing that time), and takes out her wand.
‘Alohomora!’
The cabinet opens and, appearing out of thin air, she sees James holding Harry as a baby, both lying in the ground, with eyes closed, pale and still. Dead.
They are dead.
Her heart beats faster and her mouth is suddenly dry, even as Lily knows this is just the boggart. It feels more like a dream, though, so she stays still for a few seconds, watching her husband and son’s corpses with a strange detachment. She really thought it would be just a dementor - and she would be ready for it this time.
But Lily supposes the memories that the dementor had arisen activated the true fear she had felt that night - that James and Harry would die while everything she could do was to watch hopelessly. Like she is doing now.
The fear creeps through her mind like smoke she can’t help but inhale, and that smoke makes her head light and dizzy, creating images in her head. She pictures how her life would be if that had happened, if Lily had taken Voldemort’s offer to stand aside while he murdered her husband and son and she was left alone.
And lost.
She wonders what she would have done and it’s surprisingly easy to answer. Find and kill Pettigrew, for starters, because there would be no James to hate him more than her and no son to give her other priorities. Then she would go after Voldemort; she would not rest until he was dead, no matter the cost. The boy-who-lived would be replaced by the mother-who-killed.
But then - and that is the scariest part - there would be nothing. No reason to live for. Her days would be empty and pointless, forever missing the two people she had most loved and knowing no vengeance would ever fill that hole…
‘Mum?’, she hears a voice asking, and for a moment Lily can’t really match the voice to anyone, certain she had never heard it before, that he died when he was just a baby -
She turns slowly to find Harry - her living son - at the door, looking at the dead bodies on the floor, then at her.
‘It’s a boggart’, Harry realizes. ‘Don’t - get out of here - let someone else -’
Harry looks worried for her. Somehow, this clears the smoke in her head. Lily steadies her hand and looks back at the corpses lying on the floor with nothing but determination.
‘Riddikulus!’, she says loud and clear, and the boggart turns into a man with a big blue balloon in the place of his head. Lily lets out a nervous laugh and the boggart vanishes in a puff of smoke.
Her heart is still beating faster, so Lily takes a moment to calm herself, to let all those bad feelings slip out of her; she almost jumps when she feels Harry’s hand on her shoulder. She had not heard him walking to her.
'Mum?’, he calls very quietly. ‘Are you ok?’
'It was just a stupid boggart, Harry', she says, forcing herself to smile at him. Harry is frowning, seeing through her empty smile just as she sees through his. 'Just go to bed, tomorrow is -'
'Do you always see us?', he asks in a hushed whisper, ignoring her dismissal. 'I mean - that -'
He stops, unable to continue, and Lily feels a sudden urge to just tell him it was nothing and to let it go. She knows Harry would hate it, but he also would respect her desire to be left alone with her thoughts and fears.
But since all she’s been asking of her son lately is that he talks to her, Lily supposes she has to set the example.
'Sometimes, yes’, she admits in a low voice. ‘At other times it’s a dementor. But it’s all related to the same thing, really’.
Harry looks deep in thought and he stares at the point where the bodies were.
'It was me as a baby', he says, and Lily nods. 'But - why? I mean, I lived’.
She sighs once more and sits on the couch.
'Come here', she asks, and Harry sits opposite to her on the same couch, his legs crossed just like he used to do when he was young and was listening to one of her bedtime stories, except this time most of his leg is out of the couch. That makes her feel strangely comforted, even if she feels her eyes tearing up a little. ‘You grew up so fast’.
‘Mum -’, he starts, looking half-embarrassed as he always does when James or Lily start remembering him as a kid.
‘I am saying it like a good thing’, she promises. ‘I just feel so lucky to have witnessed it all’.
Harry seems confused.
‘Lucky?’
She looks away to where the boggart was on the floor.
‘When I think about that night - the one where you got your scar - I always remember how close we were to lose everything. How you were almost… you and James…’
‘But it didn’t happen’, he says forcefully. ‘We all survived’.
‘Yes, but back then, at the time - I didn’t think we would make it. I really thought… I really lost hope for a moment. Sometimes I still dream of that night, but my worst nightmares are… of that’. She points to the floor. ‘If somehow you and James were gone and I was left alone -’
She can’t continue. Harry breathes heavily.
‘You wouldn’t be alone, I mean, you would still have Remus and Sirius, they -’
‘Harry’, she interrupts him softly, looking back at him. He already seems distraught, but she has to make him understand. ‘I love them, of course, but how would it be if I and your father had died then? If you were raised by Remus and Sirius?’
He stays silent for a moment and Lily can see him picturing all that alternative life. Lily supposes Sirius as a figure parent is an amusing idea, but Harry doesn’t smile for a second.
‘It would never be enough’, he whispers at least. ‘They would never replace you’.
‘They would never try to, I am sure, but... This is it. A life without you and your father would be just - just empty for me. And that’s what I fear the most. That I would be too weak that night and that I had to watch you both dying’.
‘You are strong’, Harry says resolutely, grabbing her hand and squeezing it, though Lily can’t tell if he is doing that for her sake or his own, to also confirm to him that everything is alright. ‘I - I heard what happened’.
‘What do you mean?’
Harry looks abashed, and he lowers his eyes.
'That’s why dementors hit me so hard. The thing I hear when they are near… It’s that night. Bits of it, but I hear... You and Voldemort. You plead for me, and he - he laughs and tells you to stand aside, but you refuse. You always refuse’.
Lily blinks, feeling the blood leaving her face.
'You never said anything’.
'I didn't want to upset you', Harry whispers. 'I know you don't like remembering it'.
She gives him a tiny smile despite everything. She never told him about her own worries, but Harry probably noticed how even though she didn't have any problem explaining about Voldemort, only James would talk to him about that Halloween night.
Harry sees more than people give him credit for.
'You could have told me', she says softly. 'It is not your job to worry about me, Harry'.
'But I do', he admits. 'I don't want anything to happen to you'.
There is a desperation in his voice now, like if he is really afraid something could happen with her and, with a jolt, Lily realizes they never really talked about what happened earlier that month, about how Harry drew away the dementors from her.
About how he needed to do it because she had frozen.
'I am sorry to have scared you', she says tenderly.
'It's not - I wasn't really scared with that boggart'.
Lily believes him. Harry seems to think his father is invincible and he is too selfless to regard his own death as something to be afraid of.
'I meant about the dementors a few weeks ago. And if somehow you thought I couldn't handle that boggart right now'.
Harry blinks.
'I didn't think that', he says slowly, and Lily knows he is considering his own feelings on the matter. 'I mean - I know what you are capable of'.
'I just don't want you thinking that you need to take care of me. I am the parent here. That's my job'.
'I don’t want to lose you’, he whispers guiltily, as if somehow even thinking about it should be wrong. ‘I wouldn’t - I don’t know how I could cope if -’
Harry looks so fragile right now that she does the simplest thing. She stretches her legs, in an offer, and Harry lies down, placing his head on her lap, allowing her to caress his hair like she used to do when he was young, until he would fall asleep.
‘I won’t live forever, Harry’, she says softly. ‘Someday you will be without me - and really, that’s what I hope for’. When he looks startled, she adds with a smile: ‘That you get to live longer than me. That you get a full happy life’.
‘It will only be happy if you are there’, he insists. ‘You and dad. You -’, he stops, closing his eyes as if he doesn’t want her to see more of his emotions than he is already letting it show on his voice. ‘You need to be careful. I know you are good, but - sometimes people are just in the wrong place in the wrong time’.
She knows what he is talking about and she remembers seeing Harry and Cedric Diggory leaving together for the Third Task of the Triwizard Tournament, both looking thrilled that it would be over soon and that one of them might win the Tournament.
And she remembers when they all noticed something was off, when there were whispers of a dead champion and how she had feared so much that it would be Harry… And the guilt she’d felt later when she was just relieved that it wasn’t him.
The good die young, her mother used to say somberly when she saw news of a tragedy.
Lily thinks about the photograph of the old Order, of hope and dreams that mattered none when the people were dead, and she finally understands what upset Harry enough to make him leave the dining party.
‘Moody told you what happened with people from the first Order of the Phoenix’, she says.
Harry bits his lips, looking away from her.
‘I can’t promise you me and your father will make it through this war, Harry’, she says slowly, wishing she could lie to him about it. ‘But I can assure you that we will make everything we can to live… and if not, we will always be with you, you do know that, right?’
She touches his chest, right above his heart, and Harry trembles.
‘I know’, he concedes at least, but there is sorrow in his eyes. Then he looks back at her. ‘Moody told me about the Prewetts and Benjy and the Longbottoms and… I recognized Marlene from that photo in your office. You never told me her whole family had died too’.
‘It was just too painful’, Lily sighs. ‘It was just after your first birthday, when we were already hiding and I remember thinking... maybe I should have done something, I should have protected her -’
‘It was not your fault!’, Harry cries, looking appalled that she feels like that.
Lily refrains herself of pointing out the irony there.
‘I know. It’s Voldemort’s fault’, she pauses, looking at the eyes that are a mirror to hers. ‘Everything that happened. Blame him, blame the people who think like him and allow him to ascend to power, but never blame anyone else’.
Harry blinks and doesn’t answer her.
‘We are better prepared this time’, she tells him, still playing with his hair gently. ‘It will not be like in the First War - we started too late then and we were too few. Now - now we have a better idea of what we need to do, of what he’s after -’
‘The weapon’, he says, and Lily remembers their first night in Grimmauld Place and what little they had told Harry. They never really said it was a weapon, but if Harry thought so, it was for the better.
He didn’t need to hear about that prophecy, not yet. It would give him the wrong ideas probably.
‘Among other things’, she says vaguely.
He sits again, looking rather upset at her.
‘You really won’t tell me?’
‘That’s not your burden to care, Harry. Not now. I know you don’t like to hear that and I know you don’t think it’s fair, but… when you are older. Of age, at least. After school. If there is still a war going on then… then we can talk about you joining the Order and knowing things’.
Harry doesn’t look like he believes her. ‘You would just not care if I joined the Order? Simple as that?’
‘I will care’, she guarantees, running a hand nervously through her hair as James would have done. ‘But I won’t forbid you. No one forbade me, it wouldn’t be fair if I tried to stop you’.
He still looks suspiciously, but Lily just returns his gaze without blinking. She is telling him the truth; sure, she will do everything she can so that Voldemort can be finished before he is of age, but if he is seventeen and the war is still happening, she knows she won’t be able to stop him.
Like her, Harry never refrains from doing the right thing and she taught him to never stand for prejudice.
‘And until then? What do I do? Just sit here waiting?’, he asks, but for once he doesn’t sound like he is fighting with her.
‘Of course not. You can study’. When Harry grimaces, she smiles. ‘Everything you do in school is important. Every lesson - yeah, even Potions, don’t give me that look. You study and you use it to prepare yourself. Not just you, but Ron and Hermione too. All of you must be ready for what happens outside. Life won’t be like in school all the time, where you know when a spell will hit you or that when the bell rings you are safe’.
Harry bits his lips, looking thoughtful.
‘I know it’s not. I mean - for the Triwizard Tournament I learned a lot of spells and how to cast them, but - when it comes to the real thing, when -’, he takes a deep breath. ‘- when I was in the graveyard with Voldemort, it’s not like in school. It’s just your guts and instinct and - and trying to survive’.
This is the most Harry has said about the night of Voldemort’s resurrection to her and, for the first time, Lily wonders if she really wants to know. Just thinking about the desperation he must have felt fighting for his life…
He survived, she tells herself. You won’t be able to keep him under your wings forever, so you give him all the skills you can. You make sure he will be ready.
‘That is it, Harry. Promise you will take your studies seriously this year. Not just because of the OWLs, but because you know what’s happening out here, even if everyone else is denying it’.
He looks solemnly as he gives a tiny nod to her.
‘I will. And I will make sure others are prepared too. I - I don’t want - what happened to Cedric - to ever happen again’.
She smiles serenely to him, even as she remembers Amos Diggory’s cries and thinks darkly he won’t be the last parent to despair for his child in this war.
The good die young.
‘Are you going to stay here?’, he asks, distracting her from her grim thoughts. Lily sighs.
‘No, I promised Molly I would make sure everyone is in their bed not too late. You know how chaotic September 1st can be. And then -’
‘Then?’
‘I will just stay up a little bit longer’.
Harry looks at her as if he can see all that she is not telling him.
‘Dad will be home late?’ he asks, though it doesn’t really seem a question. Lily just sighs, confirming it. ‘I could keep you company’.
Lily smiles more warmly now.
‘You can go rest, Harry, it’s no problem. I’ll just make myself a tea and wait in the kitchen’.
‘I’m not sleepy’, he assures her. ‘I haven’t been sleeping much. I keep having the weirdest dream, really… And, well, I thought we could make some hot chocolate’.
That brings a warmth to her that has nothing to do with the beverage. She thinks of late nights with James and Harry, especially in winter, when they would make hot chocolate and share it in front of the fireplace in their house.
That kind of silly small moments that never seem important as you are living them, but somehow they turn into your favourite memories.
‘With whipped cream?’, she asks, her voice lighter now, and Harry smirks, making his resemblance to James more evident.
‘You can even put a little bit of brandy and I won’t tell anyone’.
She blushes, getting up. ‘I have no idea what you are talking about’.
‘I’m fifteen, mum, I get it now what was the medicine in your chocolate’.
‘When did you get so smart?’, she asks playfully, taking his arm so they can descend the stairs together to the kitchen. ‘Anyway, no alcohol for you’.
‘Spoilsport’, he complains without any real malice. ‘When will I get to drink?’
‘If you are still asking me, Harry, then you are still too young, trust me’, Lily answers grinning.
Harry shakes his head, mumbling to himself almost indignantly but this is such a normal teenage behaviour that Lily will take it without complaining. That’s the kind of thing she wants him to be worried about.
She kisses him softly on the cheek before they enter the kitchen, knowing Harry would be too embarrassed to be seen receiving a kiss from his mother in front of everyone - another very usual teenage behaviour -, and smiles to herself.
‘Thanks for the company’, she says later, when they are alone in the kitchen after sending everyone to bed.
‘Anytime, mum’, he promises, filling his cup with whipped cream, while they accommodate themselves to wait for James to come home.
No CW other than the mention of the word “homophobic”
Birds flying high, you know how I feel. Sun in the sky…
It was a good day. The sun was shining down on Gryffindor, families were out in the park, birds were singing a melody.
The hockey season started months ago and the Gryffindor Lions had a weekend without games for a change, but by no means time for relaxing. A few blocks away from the stadium, life was buzzing. The charity event was very important to the team as they themselves had the idea of raising funds for the local children's hospital.
On the area, preparations were already in full swing. It wouldn’t be long before the players arrived after all. The reporters were being wired, cameras were being positioned, and in all that chaos Marlene, Arthur and Moody were trying to take care of the last organizational things. Some fans were already standing behind a barrier, not nearly as much as at the All-Star game, but no less important, staring eagerly at the red carpet, their mobile phones at the ready.
Meanwhile, Sirius and Remus were already seated in the first SUV, driving them to their destination. The team agreed to pair up in groups and couples so that the Cubs had the chance to at least arrive together without being suspicious.
Remus sat close to Sirius and twisted his body a bit oddly to fix Sirius' tie.
“Are you nervous?”
"A little. There will be so many cameras on us, Re, and I am really not in the mood for homophobic comments today.”
"We don’t have to do this if you don’t want to, baby, you know that.” Remus said softly, but Sirius immediately shook his head.
“No Remus, I love you and I want everyone to see that.”
When the car stopped Sirius was the first to step out of the car, grinning and smoothing out his red velvet suit, which was a bit wrinkled from the car. He turned around to take Remus’ hand and helped him out of the car, careful not to get any dirt on to his beige suit. The suit that drove Sirius absolutely crazy because have you seen his freaking legs in it?
He spun his boyfriend around to give him a quick kiss, hand still in Remus’ before pulling him on to the red carpet, walking confidently to the curious reporters.
He only got around to answer three questions before he heard a faint giggle from where he came from a few minutes ago. Turning his attention to the sweet sound, he saw Remus already having Katie clinging to his legs, giving Dumo a hug. The family looked absolutely perfect with Dumo wearing a blue suit tugging Celeste at his side, who was wearing a beautiful dark blue dress that touched the ground. Even the kids wore matching clothes in all kinds of blue tones.
Only a few seconds after Dumo’s car left, the next one pulled up to reveal the Cubs.
They wore pastel-colored suits, which were matching as well. Logan was dressed in baby blue, Finn in a pastel mint green one, and Leo absolutely rocked the pastel lilac one he was fiddling with right now.
Sirius looked fondly at their glowing faces and happy eyes, not allowed to touch each other yet but happy as ever. He went over to them for a quick hello but was immediately pulled away for some photos.
He posed what felt like a solid 15 minutes for the camera before Remus came over to eventually join him. Sirius relaxed at once, turning his body towards Remus and putting his hands on his left shoulder. The camera flashes grew dangerously fast as his smile widened.
He was only vague aware of Nado and Kuny arriving in their grey suits but he waved happily in Reg’s direction as he got out of the car with Kasey, both dressed in tight black suits. Nat, who was helped out of the car by the two gentlemen, was also wearing a tight black but glittering dress.
Even though his cheeks hurt from all the smiling, Sirius couldn’t contain his laughter as James and Lily stumbled out of the car almost 40 minutes late. He made his way over to his best friends, smiling widely.
“What did Harry do to you two?” Sirius asked, hiding his grin behind his hand.
“He lost his stuffed lion and just wouldn’t stop crying so we needed to help the nanny find it.”, said Lily.
Sirius took a moment to look at the woman speaking.
“You know Pots, if I was bisexual I would marry your wife in a heartbeat. You are looking stunning in that suit, darling. The green really does match your eyes.”
“Why thank you Mr. Black, you don’t look too bad yourself.” she replied, giggling.
“Hey, what about me? I’m wearing the same color!”
“Yes Pots, but yours is a velvet suit and I look better in velvet.”
James just rolled his eyes and put his arm around Lily’s waist to support her in her high heels. She was a bit unsteady since it was the first time she wore some in months.
“Don’t worry James, I think you look breathtaking,” a voice chipped in.
“Thanks Loops, I think I need to marry you instead.”
Remus gave them both a hug when Dumo was calling them.
“Mes chers amis. Stop chatting, you have work to do. Captain, you need to hold your speech.”
“Yes père, we’re on our way.” Sirius said smiling as he took Remus’ hand in his, Lily and James trailing behind them.
And I’m feeling good.
