I love my horses in rdr2 and all but why do they buck you off and run away all the time 😭 it's so frustrating

Hello! Well, horses are prey animals. They depend on their flight instinct to survive, being able to run away from/outrun any danger is important for their survival!

This is actually one of the most well captured details in the horses of rdr2, and also the most frustrating detail to some players.

It's about perspective! Just because that snake isn't scary to you, doesn't mean is isn't scary to your horse! Especially if you have a more skittish breed in the game, avoiding any spooky encounters will save you and your horse the stress. Hitch your horse to a tree before you go hunting, flee your horse for a bit if you're raiding a camp, so on.

If a horse is truly freaking the fuck out, then I'm afraid it's probably going to leave you behind. Not because your horse doesn't like you, your silly steed is just making sure it feels safe and away from danger <3

Hello! It’s been awhile since I’ve showcased a character so it’s understandable that many don’t know what they do. I’ll give a quick run down.

Sylvia is the head writer in the show (shocker). Her and Wallace work closely together when producing episodes. They often debate when it comes to it, given that they’re both very passionate about their work. Wallace does respect her input but will make tiny changes here and there without her looking. She always find out though.

Joyce is a cosmologist that works in hair and makeup. She helped Wallace come up with his famous pompadour, and even showed him how to do it himself. Joyce makes sure he’s perfect before every scene, and he really only trusts her with how he’s presented. She talk his ear off until it’s time for him to go.

Francis is the production manager of the set. He’s very organized and analytical when it comes to the show, often reminding Wallace about deadlines, interviews, income etc. Nothing gets passed him, and he knows it. Wallace knows everything’s in good hands.

They’re all pretty much perfectionists.

As for the others I am slowly but surely working on each of them. I have the concept in mind, all I have to do is put it on paper (tablet screen?) but doubt and indecisiveness comes in and makes the process slower haha… anyways! Hope this helps!

okay so. i was asked by @bluestarlett (sorry for the tag) to share my thoughts on kosmic entwinement's plot relevant petre so. here it is :3

so during antipathy (the era where aelius and artemis are united against astraeus and harmonia (aka kosmos)) kosmos is fairly isolated, they only really have themselves. and due to this and the fact that astraeus and harmonia now share a body, they spend a lot of time getting to know each other. but also, due to the new situation it causes them to realise some things about themselves; mainly, astraeus realising they're nonbinary because of the fact that they are now being referred to with they/them because they're now two people

BUT ALSO

kosmos (because of astraeus having them) has fluffy ears and tails (yes tails they have two of them :3) and harmonia enjoys this A Lot in a way he can't quite explain. and then at some point they're hanging out with artemis only for him to absently scratch their ears, and harmonia just Melts into it and artemis realises 'oh shit that's a puppy' and ends up looking after him (astraeus helps too but there's only so much they can do with harmonia primarily in control of their body)

so it's plot relevant in the sense that it ties into the themes about astraeus and harmonia both helping the other to discover things about themselves and they're both happier and better off for it. important to me <2

also the petre helps harmonia and artemis bond which is Very good given at first artemis just does not trust him at all

ah yeah it's pretty much exactly what's said in primeval! xander is buffy's heart, giles is buffy's mind, willow is buffy's spirit! this is why i can never get behind the whole "buffy's friends are bad friends for being overly invested in her sex life" critique: buffy's friends are overly invested in her sex life because they are literally metaphorical parts of buffy. her heart being the one to say "kick his ass" rather than entertaining the notion of angel being returned; her mind struggling to rationalize the disconnect between Buffy As A Slayer and Buffy As A Little Girl; her spirit being the one to pull her forward/inspire her to keep fighting in moments like prophecy girl and weight of the world. stuff like that.

Here is something actually I want to discuss with someone, kind of asking for confirmation or a second opinion, and feel free to ignore this if this is too weird.

In ZSJL, when Clark was just resurrected, he was fighting the League and steadily making his way to Bruce. I always think of it as because he was provoked by Cyborg, so he started fighting the League, then he was provoked some more because he was fired upon. Therefore he was simply mowing down everyone he sees, anyone who was present.

But with theatrical cut it was more like he was specifically targeting Bruce.

I don't know if it was because theatrical cut's existence influenced others to think the same in ZSJL, or that it influenced me to think differently, or is this a free for interpretation not transparent kind of thing.

Don't even worry about it. I love talking about these movies non stop so it's never a bother truly.

I think just as a clear cut clarification: the snydercut was the original intent so the theatrical cut is the frankenstein's monster so to speak.

But I think yeah the Snyder Cut tells the story as Clark's resurrection triggering Victor's defense mechanism which in turn provokes Clark to protect himself. He doesn't really grow aggressive until he was hit with Cyborg's blast if I'm remembering correctly.

The Joss Whedon cut, I'm afraid I remember less, but I think that read is valid because it is carried a bit from the Snyder cut too where there's this interesting moment where you're aware that Clark doesn't have memory of much if at all but his last moments with Bruce in BVS are still enough to evoke such a visceral reaction to him that his rage and confusion is projected to him the very moment he sees him.

Like if you rewatch this moment - you can clearly see that there's an intrinsic recognition in him when Bruce comes into the scene that isn't really there when its just the other four members of that league.

The ferocity of that intent I think is definitely up to you. Although I think the "Do you bleed?" mocking he does in Joss Whedon's version makes it more bluntly obvious compared to like the Snyder it which also does heavily mirror or echo the Nightmare Dream as well as that moment in BVS before the fight. I do think that is un-characteristic of Clark though. Just for me personally.

Hey friendo, I was hoping for some advice! The post you reblogged about neopronouns and other cultures/languages- I noticed in your tags you said to use 'latine' and not 'latinx.' Is that the generally preferred term? I've only ever seen latinx, and am a baby in learning Spanish, so I just don't have a lot of knowledge about addressing people properly outside of the m/f gendered terms/conjugations, but I want to! Pls give me some pointers, history, context, culture etc 🙏

oh heya there! so, the main issue about using the x in latinx is that it literally doesn't make sense in latin languages. it is a word that is impossible for the latine speakers to come up on their on as that "X" sound only exists in spanish or portuguese when surrounded by vogals, and would NEVER end a word, meaning that the ones that created and use the latinx term aren't even latines themselves, they are white anglo people! so when white queers use the term latinx, it almost feels like a slur, as it a term created by the other majority to label a minority in a way they don't approve!

the use of latine (and other gendered words that you see with -e) happens as both Portuguese and Spanish use -o as masculine and -a as feminine (amigo <- masculine, amiga <- feminine).

Historically, masculine terms were used to denominate ambiguity and neutrality, however with the push of the non-binary native speakers that weren't comfortable with masculine terms, new vogals began to be explored to serve as a neutral term, and -e was the easiest one use! now if you want to use neutral terms in Spanish, try switching the -a -o for -e! so it becomes (amigo <- masculine, amiga <- feminine, amigue <- neutral)

if we are talking about neopronouns... i know more about the portuguese ones, but i researched a bit bout spanish ones, so it's ok. so to start, in Brazilian Portuguese the traditional 3rd person pronouns are Ele/Dele (he/him) and Ela/Dela (she/her). When we were creating the new neutral pronoun, the other vocals were considered, however the -i in (eli/deli) sounded too much as a high pitched ele/dele, so it was scraped. Elo/Delo was better however the 'o' sound was too uncomfortable to say, so it was also scraped. In the end, the Elu/Delu was chosen as the neutral pronoun! as an example let's take the "she's my friend" sentence:

"ela é minha amiga" <- feminine

"elu é minhe amigue" <- neutral

Elu/Delu work the same way 3rd person They/Them do, and just like there's other neopronouns in english to signify neutrality like Xe/Xem, theres also other ones in portuguese like Ile/Dile, Ilu/Dilu and many more!

now talking bout spanish, i know about the equivalent to 3rd person They, which would be "Elle". El is masculine, Ella is feminine, and it appears that the native speakers combined both to create a neutral pronoun, it being Elle. let's take a sentence as an example of use " they are my friend" in Spanish become "elle es mi amigue"

therefore, if you want to be nice to your fellow latine queers and not sound like "im a white anglo speaker and i know more about your language than you", please use "Latine" instead of "Latinx"!

I am by no means an exhaustive resource, but if by later in the year you mean the second half of the year, not that I know of. There are newsletters that haven't started yet, but the latest of those is in April, so I don't know if that counts as later.

for worldsmarks/lists, i tend to use "hub" worlds - these are typically groundzero locations that host a variety of user-made worlds. i usually go through the worlds wiki or worlio's website specifically.

however, due to the nature of worlds as a program, there are times where the links to these worlds are obsolete (either due to servers losing hosts, broken links, etc). you may find it difficult to access some of these locations as a result, and this is also why some locations become lost indefinitely (or forever).

hi! so right off the bat, you can add additional images to most wip pages! for example, on most of mine, in any section where you're adding text, you can add images in the html. just use <img src=""/> and put your image url between the quotation marks. and paste that where you want your image to go. you may need to adjust the size of the image you're using, but that's one way to do it!

and here are some thememakers with page codes that sound like what you're looking for!

@pirateskinned - tons of rp pages that could easily be used for fics and worldbuilding

@glenthemes - has a bunch of about pages and character pages that could be used for worldbuilding

@seyche - "tansy" page specifically is a good one for projects and fics

I gotchu, I mentioned that Arthur's weight will only change after a screen fade and it's gradual but there is a daily (in-game) limit to how many calories will actually count towards his gain. That's why I said it'll be gradual, but not to worry!

By default, the maximum amount of weight Arthur can gain per in-game day is about 2-3 points, that's about 30 calories in total. It'll take a few days of him eating for it to show, make sure your Arthur is sleeping too <3

I need your help with a hypothesis!

For context: My linguistics professor and I got into a discussion after a test she did with us, and I was of the opinion that the reason for the results was different from the one she offered, so she encouraged me to test my theory.

What I need

All you need to do is draw a coffee cup (with a handle, not the disposable stuff) and then answer three questions.

I don't need to see the coffee cup. You can draw it wherever you like; on a piece of paper, digitally, in the sand, on a foggy window. Anything works. It does not have to be good. A doodle is fine.

You have to draw the coffee cup before you see the questions. This is very important. If you decide to help me with this, please doodle the coffee cup before you keep reading.

Assuming you have drawn the coffee cup, I now need you to answer these three questions:

On which side did you draw the handle?

Are you right-handed or left-handed?

Do you primarily write using the Latin alphabet or a different one? (please specify which)

More context

Most people will draw the handle on the right side. My professor says it's because most people are right-handed, so they draw the handle in the direction that would be comfortable for them to pick up.

I said drawing it on the right side just felt more comfortable to my hand and argued it's probably because we write a bunch of letters like that. B, b, D, P, p, R all look like a tiny "handle on the right side" and are all a straight line followed by a round one (so "cup first, handle second," like most people draw cups). The Latin alphabet doesn't have letters like that that face the other way, except maybe d, depending on how you write it, so it makes sense to me that people writing mostly Latin letters would go with the handle on the right side.

Which means that I need to know what Asians, Arabs and Greeks do and if the distribution of left and right sides of handles differs from the Latin alphabet group. Cyrillic seems to favor right, too, though it'd be interesting to see if there are differences.

If there are, my theory is right. Doubly so if there is a sizeable increase in a group whose alphabet has letters that benefit the left side choice.

So feel free to spread this to as many people as you like and put the answers in the comments or the tags of a reblog. The more answers I get, the better I can assess whose theory is better.
