Merrick enters the room without bothering to knock. Why would she? It's just as much her base of operations as it is his. Even if it would appear that he's the mafia boss, they both know who is in charge when it counts.

Wearing a sleek black outfit, she saunters over to the desk and perches herself on the edge of it to his left, crossing one leg over the other. She smiles adoringly, one reserved only for Enzo as she looks him over. "How are you, my sweet sparrow?"

Enzo, usually, has very strong opinions on people who enter the office without knocking, especially when he's as focused as he is — it's a strict rule never to startle him and his subordinates would do well to keep that in mind it they value their jobs and, coincidentally, their dominant hands.

However, Merrick is an exception to most rules — really, it's her office anyway, why would she ever need to knock?

As per usual, the mafia boss is delighted to see his darling wife, a smile creeping onto his face the longer he looks at her. Gods, she's gorgeous.

Also increasingly aware that a LOT of people "manage" getting through the 40+ hour work week by sleeping less than is healthy and relying on stimulants like coffee and energy drinks to keep them going.

For people who are unwilling or unable to do this...work really does just dominate your life. Like we really should not have to rely on unhealthy practices just to have a social life or keep on top of housework or whatever.

I know I post about this a lot but I'm so TIRED all the time and it's just so depressing that this is how we're expected to spend the one life we have.

I genuinely hope American media sucks for a while! I hope the big companies keep trying to churn out shit and that it’s all embarrassing garbage! I want it to be extremely apparent to everyone how important the writers and actors are to create good media and that they deserve to be compensated appropriately!!!

Merrick has been feeling... off.

For the last few weeks, she's been feeling run down. Tired all the time, which is not normal for her. She can usually run just fine on minimal sleep. Now, if she cuddles up to Enzo in the middle of the day, she's falling asleep against him.

And she's... emotional. A commercial for car insurance made her cry because the father and son hugged and... it was just so sweet. Was she sick? She hasn't really been ill since returning to the land of the living. Should she go to the doctor? It's all so odd.

These thoughts swirl in her head as she is once again drifting off to nap, curling up against Enzo. But she's suddenly brought back to consciousness as she's hit with severe nausea.

In the blink of an eye, she's rushing to the restroom.

Enzo has grown increasingly more worried about Merrick in these last few weeks.

Fatigued, emotional and, most recently, nauseous — is she sick? He isn't even sure if it's possible for her to get sick and even then it doesn't explain the sudden spike in emotional reactivity. One possibility has crossed his mind maybe twice, but he's fairly certain it isn't possible for them so he never really entertains the idea.

Enzo had been content in holding her, knowing she was going to fall asleep soon, until she suddenly runs off, no doubt to the bathroom.

Getting her a glass of water, he quickly goes after her, knocking in the door lightly.

"Are you alright, my love?"
