favorite things from the scene:
Buck being on the keto diet - 100% hilarious and in-character and I love that Tommy knows that
Tommy's incredulous reaction that Hen and Karen are actually asking about their relationship because he cannot believe this is happening
Karen and Hen's Extremely Serious faces and the little glances they share
Tommy's humor in its full glory
The implication that Buck and Tommy are going several rounds every time they see each other (this also pairs nicely with the dinner scene, where we see Buck start the flirting and the conversation about daddy issues and Tommy matching his energy)
I love it and I'm so happy they released it 🥰🥰

Make a Money Date
Tumblr media
One of the secrets to my success is being a great steward of money. I have often said that no one can care for your money or track it as well as you can. But being a good money manager/tracker doesn't happen by accident; the key is to have the personal self-discipline needed to track your money every single month.
That's right, make a standing money date with yourself! Choose a day of the month, such as the first Monday of the month, add it to your calendar, make it a recurring appointment, and block out that time! Treat yourself to a nice coffee, light some candles, turn on some music and try to make it a special occasion so you can get down to business.
Below are the things that I do on my money date every month:
Receipts
The first thing you must manage is the collection of the receipts you have from anything you have spent money on. Money tracking starts at the point of sale, not on your money date. I automatically separate all my receipts in my wallet after each transaction. I don't wait until my money date to sort them and this pre-filing process makes it very easy. I have sections in my wallet for my receipts labelled for each credit card or bank debit card that I use and I separate them by personal and business. If you can't find a receipt track it down - yes, really! Do it now, because it will be that much harder later.
Bank Statements
I begin my money date by gathering my bank statements (personal and business) for the month and any credit card statements that I have. I go through every (yes every) line item expense, find the corresponding receipt, and attach an envelope with those to every bank statement and credit card statement. All receipts as well as any deposit stubs that apply to that statement go inside the envelope. No sorting receipts for me at the end of the year! My receipts, all expenses and deposits are reconciled every month.
Reality Check
I then go through every bank statement and credit card and highlight in pink any expense that I either regretted, didn't need or need to learn a lesson from. For example, I had no idea one month that the anti-virus software I had purchased was actually twice as expensive as I thought it was. I had signed up for the software without realizing the inexpensive fee I thought I was paying was just an initial offer and that all future months would be full price. I also reconcile all expenses and deposits to my budget (yes, I live by a budget) so I have a clear idea of where my money went that month.
Bill Paying
Most of my bills are paid automatically every month through my bank's bill pay so that saves me a lot of time and does much of the work for me. I still have to make sure that all the payments were sent when they were supposed to be (nothing is perfect and errors can occur) and also take care of any bills that I need to pay that are not ongoing or set up on bill pay at that time.
Use a Future Value Calculator
The favorite part of my money management process is to update my Future Value Calculator. I update the balances on any mortgages and investments monthly and I update property values every six months. This is such a rewarding way to keep my eye on the big picture!
Involve Your Spouse/Partner
Often in relationships one person seems to be the money person and the other person tends to either be tuned out by choice or one person likes to have control. However, the best way to manage money in a relationship is for both partners to be involved. For example, while there are many parts of money tracking that my husband doesn't do, he does work with me to match receipts, reconcile our statements, and assist me in filing any paid bills I have to file. I also recommend both partners review the Future Value Calculator monthly. When both parties know what is happening with the money both parties are working towards tracking it and respecting it.
Filing
This is by far one of the hardest things to do at the end of the year. It is daunting and overwhelming. However, when you file monthly you can keep the beginning of year time-crunch down.
If you want a healthy, strong respectful relationship with money, the key is to invest time into your money tracking and management. Make a money date with yourself and enjoy the confidence that having control over your money will bring you.

As someone who hasn’t played the twst game very long I just got into it. I wanted to know about events? Like do some not come back? For example do the Masquerade, Port, Beanfest, Ghost bride, starsending events. Do those come back? I hear people say how they missed their chance to get this great card like as if it won’t ever come back and then someone on Reddit will say something like “Oh beanfest happened twice on the JP server” so which events have gotten reruns so far? I would ask about more recent ones like the Easter one but idk if it’s too recent to know if get rerun or if they clarify that it won’t come back? I was really sad to find out about the Silk outfits I missed out on when they visit the scalding sands. I also was really sad to find out i missed out on the anniversary cards because I didn’t play the game yet. I wish they would add the anniversary cards to the store at least…I want to be apart of the celebration :’)
I was looking in the shop and saw all the different groovy items you need to groovify event cards and this question just came to me so I had the urge to ask someone…
welcome to Twst! 🎉 it is a bit confusing to jump right into, especially because. they're not always consistent. :') it sounds like you're probably playing on Eng, which I'm less familiar with, but I'll try based on what I know! (I also don't always remember everything, so somebody please correct me if I get something wrong!)
first, I do recommend the Twst wiki.gg, which seems to stay pretty up-to-date on events for both the Eng and JP versions! it's a great resource for when you want to see if/when an event ran or rerun. in general, I believe that the Eng version only does reruns that have already happened in JP, so if JP has a rerun that hasn't happened yet in Eng, they should get it too eventually! on the other hand, I don't think either version has ever rerun an event more than once. :( BUT this doesn't mean you're entirely out of luck, because:
anniversary events (March for JP, January for Eng) will usually offer a chance to get both an older event SSR and an older birthday SSR in the shop, via buying a special item with exchange currency (which you get by doing pulls on the anniversary gacha, I think you need to do 100-150 pulls for enough currency to buy the item to exchange for an SSR). only SSRs though, and you're limited to one each (one birthday, one event). so if there's an SSR you REALLY want and it's already had its rerun, it's probably worth planning to save up some keys for!
as for actual reruns, they seem to come in a few different flavors:
straight-up rerun, no changes or extra cards
unchanged event story, with a new SSR of a character who wasn't in the story (e.g. Applepom Jamil)
slightly rewritten event story that includes a new SSR (e.g. Ghost Marriage, they don't seem to do this anymore though)
completely new event story that acts as either a sequel or alternate-universe version of the original (e.g. Beans Day part 2, Fairy Gala IF) (though this is pretty rare and might actually count as a separate event, rather than a rerun?)
Master Chef/Culinary Crucible events have never gotten reruns (though they might start now that we've finally gotten through all the characters in JP, time will tell). birthday and Halloween events will also rerun the previous version in addition to the new one -- for instance, Eng should be getting a Glorious Masquerade rerun this year, followed by the new (Playful Land) Halloween event. and a birthday campaign will, in addition to the new card, have a separate pickup for the previous year's birthday card.
for the specific ones you mentioned -- I think Beanfest, Ghost Bride, Fireworks, and Starsending have already rerun in Eng, so those most likely will not be rerun again (at least not anytime soon). Masquerade should be coming back for you guys this Halloween, and Portfest JUST got its rerun in JP, so that should be coming too sometime in the future! (no new SSR though, alas, I was really hoping for a little marching band sailor boy Leona. 😔) the Easter event is the White Rabbit Fest, right? that one hasn't gotten a rerun in JP yet either, so it's still on the table!
all that said, it's entirely possible they'll change the rules at some point and start doing more reruns/chances to get older event cards, especially since the game's been going on for a few years now and some cards haven't been available for a pretty long time! there's only one card that they said was for-realsies limited-time-only and wouldn't ever be available again -- Platinum Grim, since he was to celebrate the 100th anniversary -- so. there's always a little bit of hope for everything else. :D (fairy gala Ortho PLEASE COME BACK SOB)

charlie being alone for so long she isn't used to anyone sharing space with her anymore
(who isn't a flying demon plushy anyway) (her dad keeps forgetting WHERE she even lives now even after the third time telling him-)
vaggie moving in and maybe getting bumped into and utterly steamrollered by accident a few times, several times, fairly often actually- much to charlie's distress and vaggie's amusement (getting smacked in the face by a pretty demon lady's chest wasn't the worst thing) (charlie fussing over her afterwards was also not terrible)
until her hair grew out long enough that charlie had the PERFECT excuse for giving her the ribbon
(is nice looks preddy) (charlie wants vaggie to have alllll the nice things) (matches with vaggie's prettiness) (that's not an opinion that's up for debate vaggie, hush)
...the ribbon, which totally isn't also a safety feature, absolutely doesn't make it easier for charlie to spot her gf before the potential Squish, definitely doesn't act in the same capacity as lucifer's top hat did for lilith (tol demon ladies have their struggles too) (especially when the angels they keep picking are Tiny)
this secret agenda is still not as secret as the OTHER reason charlie gives vaggie the hair ribbon
(maybe NOW vaggie will finally get rid of the horrible old bandages charlie first patched her up with the day they met or at least stop carrying them around and playing with them) (of course vaggie should do whatever makes her happy forever but charlie does NOT like remembering her being hurt)
vaggie gets the hint and keeps the bandages in the nightstand drawer on her side of the bed instead
(her sore back scars plus the increasing snuggles means she sleeps draped over charlie's chest most nights anyway now, and doesn't need the excuse of getting run over to have charlie hug and fuss over her anymore)
oh no. the stupid idea is growing on me

No hate to Steven or anything and a lot of the flack he's gotten in the yt comments is unwarranted, but one thing I think is interesting is how on Watcher he was painted as a business-guru type and yet he was like... a chemical engineering major. Like so was I for most of college and you know what we never learned? How to run a business

I made this post a little while ago listing some facts about shipwrecks that probably only I find interesting, so now I’m back to talk about some of them. Specifically, the Olympic. The Olympic was the namesake of the Olympic-class liners, whose most notable member was the Titanic. Out of the three Olympic-class ships - Titanic, Olympic, and Britannic - only one of them was actually unsinkable, and that was the Olympic.
Over the more than 20 years of its existence, the Olympic was never once in real danger. The Olympic was the danger. On its fifth voyage in September 1911, Olympic was running parallel to the HMS Hawke, a British warship designed specifically for ramming things. Olympic suddenly turned to starboard (right side of the ship if you were facing towards its front), catching Hawke’s commanding officer off-guard; he wasn’t able to avoid the collision and ended up ramming the other ship. Olympic was left with a substantial hole beneath the water line (although flooding was for the most part averted due to its bulkheads actually working properly, *cough* Titanic *cough*) and a slightly less substantial hole above it. Hawke, meanwhile, had its entire bow caved in. Olympic made it back to port just fine under her own power, while Hawke almost capsized. Somehow, no one was seriously hurt or killed.
Three fun facts about this situation: Violet Jessop, a woman famous for surviving the sinkings of both of the Olympic’s sister ships, was onboard the Olympic when this happened. This incident also reinforced the idea that the Olympic-class was unsinkable. The famous postponement of the Titanic’s maiden voyage also occurred because of this incident; a propeller shaft was damaged in the collision, they needed a new one ASAP, and, well, the Titanic was right there...
Four years later, WWI broke out. The Olympic was requisitioned as a troop ship, given 6-inch naval guns, and sent on its way. In 1918, while travelling to France with a literal boatload of American soldiers, Olympic spotted U-103, a German U-boat chilling on the surface of the ocean. Olympic opened fire on U-103, which immediately crash dived to keep from dying, then turned to ram the U-boat. Olympic hit U-103′s conning tower and tore open the hull with its propellers. U-103′s crew decided “fuck this” and abandoned ship; Olympic didn’t bother to stop to pick them up, so a nearby American warship did instead. It was later found that U-103 was preparing to torpedo Olympic when they’d been spotted, but they couldn’t flood the torpedo tubes in time. Olympic remains the only merchant vessel in WWI recorded to have sunk an enemy vessel (which would become a more common occurrence during WWII, to the extent that the Nazis apparently tried and hanged at least one captured British merchant captain for ramming one of their U-boats. The Nazis were ones to talk, considering they rehired the man who sank the Carpathia and was notorious for war crimes that included things like “drowning surrendered enemy crews by forcing them to strip and stand on the roof of his submarine, then diving the submarine” and “attacking designated hospital ships that made it very obvious they were hospital ships”).
Following WWI, while Olympic was being refit for civilian service, a sizeable dent was discovered below the waterline. It was later concluded to have been caused by a faulty torpedo, most likely fired by U-53 while the Olympic was travelling through the English Channel.
Olympic collided with another, smaller ship, Fort St. George, in New York Harbor on March 22, 1924. There’s not much information on how badly Olympic fucked Fort St. George up, just that Olympic apparently fucked around a little too much and found out, because the collision broke its sternpost (support post in the back of the ship; think of it like a central pillar in a structure), forcing the entire stern frame to be replaced.
On November 18, 1929, Olympic was cruising not far from the Titanic’s wreck site when the whole thing began shaking for two minutes. This was later found to have been caused by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Newfoundland.
The Olympic’s last hurrah (and casualty) was on May 15, 1934, when it collided with the lightship LV-117. Olympic had known the lightship was in the area, but didn’t know where exactly it was until they were right on top of it. Olympic’s captain immediately ordered a hard turn and the engines slowed, so Olympic wasn’t moving particularly fast when it did hit LV-117 (about 3 and a half miles per hour), but Olympic was fucking huge, and the people onboard barely noticed when they practically crushed the lightship under them. Only four of the eleven crew aboard LV-117 survived; four went down with the ship and three died in Olympic’s hospital (yes, these things had hospitals; I told you there were fucking huge).
Olympic was fully scrapped in 1937, forever going down in history as both the only Olympic-class ship that was actually unsinkable and the one with the longest reign of terror. Good God, man. I understand sinking the U-boat, but you didn’t need to bring like four other ships down with you.
