I think I get the matty thing bc I watched videos of him and while he never shuts up he clearly has one of those hyper personalities and is a giant nerd about music and shit and taylor totally is too so they def really bonded over that and she properly likes his band quite a lot, plus I just know a guy like him is a total freak in the sheets, plus the fact that he was an old flame made the story very romantic for her in her head, the whole writing songs about each other thing. like. she probably really did feel like the relationship was the greatest thing that could ever happen, hence the 'I've never been so happy in all my life, my life feels like it makes sense'. it probably felt like he took her to the top of the burj khalifa then pushed her off. and he isn't evil for that but I can get how she must have just been REELING/borderline traumatized and can't process that he just changed his mind or it just wasn't right for him in the end.
I think the scrutiny got to him because he likes fucking around online and I think he properly realized he wouldn’t be able to cope.

I wanna talk about a song for a minute. It's an older song, at that. I'm out of touch, so I get to do that-
'Mrs. Toad's Cookies', by Klaatu, from the album MAGENTALANE, 1981.
Klaatu, a Canadian rock group that was largely active circa 1973 up until the release of this album, has a fascinating and somewhat frustrating history. If you're into the music of the 20th century and weird pop cultural phenomenons, I recommend reading up on these guys who some dingus on the East Coast posited were The Beatles reunited under an anonymous name... Due to similarities in their music and that of the broken up Beatles', and all these "clues" that this guy thought were indicators... Basically, most conspiracy theories are either dumb or some bored person making up shit. Much like the legendary "Paul is Dead" mythos, much like everything you hear from Fox News or head from Alex Jo- So, this silly little theory in turn blew their record sales up some few months after their debut album - 3:47 EST - came and went in the U.S. in the bicentennial summer. Sales which then plummeted after Americans found out who these three Canadians actually were and wrongly took them to be Beatle impostors. Yikes... Tough crowd, eh? A shame, because they were - to these ears - a legit great group. Their music, I feel, is like an ELO/Beatles/Queen-esque love letter to late '60s pop music innovations mixed with a naive, almost midcentury Walt Disney-ian sci-fi wonderment (they even have an unreleased song called 'Thank You, Walt Disney', to ram the point home) and whimsy.
Anyways, 'Mrs. Toad's Cookies', off of their final album...
If THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS and FROG & TOAD were song, it'd sound a lot like this, I reckon. You also got a toad with a tummy ache after gorging on tons of sweets, hey look it's me! I.B.S. problems, ya know?
This chorus is particularly interesting to me:
Ooh good is good and bad is bad As anybody knows But too too much good can be as sadly sad As too much bad you know
Whether it's Mr. Toad eating all the cookies, or Mrs. Crow picking all her flowers, we have two characters getting a little excessive here and facing some consequences for their actions... And in a sort of whimsical way, almost like a moral being softly stated in a children's picture book, we hear "too much good can be as sadly sad, as too much bad you know". It really is a charming picture book in song form.
As a 30-year-old AH-dult, I sometimes struggle with... I don't think addiction is entirely the right word, because it isn't drugs or alcohol. But I have "addictions" of sorts, I'm very bad with time management, and I tend to put too much focus on some things and not other things. I don't balance all of my commitments well, especially when I'm going through things.
I was diagnosed as autistic as a small child, about 5 years old, in the late 1990s. I was never diagnosed as ADHD, but learning from fellow ADHD-havers, it sometimes *can* overlap with autism. And I feel I have A LOT of the ADHD symptoms. One I learned via a YouTuber thru an exclusive video of hers elsewhere, which I think cleared a lot up for me... One thing some people w/ ADHD do is that when something major is going to happen in a few hours, the ADHD-haver *does not* engage in ANYTHING else until that big something happens... This is almost me to a tee. I regularly do this with work, visits, appointments, meeting people, etc. It's like preparation, laser-focusing on this ONE thing but leaving out the other stuff...
And UH OH, I'm behind on making comics, I'm behind on making art, I'm behind on watching the massive Burj Khalifa-tall list of stuff I've never seen, a-GAHHHHHH! And then, as a coping mechanism of sorts, I'm on my computer again! I'm on my phone again! I'm (NSFW topic) again! I'm going on a looooong drive again! I need to balance things, and be better with time management, and be able to steadily commit to all the things I want to devote my time to. Comics, art, going out, handling work well, and living a pretty cool life outside of the house too.
It's largely because I've moved out a few months ago, I feel kind of lost these days because everyone I know or have known is either MAGA or leans right while I'm slowly transitioning into being an enby/genderqueer weirdo, my job that I've had for eight years kinda sucks these days, the job search is T-O-R-T-U-R-E and the rent and other things that cost green paper are looming.
All this, over a song about a toad who needs to book it to the toilet.
Here's the bridge of that song:
Do you wonder will tomorrow be a better place Well that only time can show But if we put our heads into a better space Then maybe we could make it so
I know, Klaatu songwriters... Specifically Jon Woloschuk and Dino Tome... I know... I'm gonna keep trying...

191220 K-Pop Stars EXO Reflect on How Far They've Come — and How Far They'll Go
As Chen tells Teen Vogue, this year has been “a time for EXO to reflect” on their past, present, and future.
Tumblr media
Chances are, even if you didn’t know it at the time, you’ve seen the members of the legendary K-Pop group EXO before. Their musical prowess speaks for itself, but even beyond that, their careers have taken over TV, fashion, celebrity culture, and more in the past year.
Maybe you've seen rapper and multi-instrumentalist Chanyeol, 27, shaking hands with Zendaya at Paris Fashion Week. Or perhaps it was breathtaking dancer and rapper Kai, 25, cracking 7th place on British GQ’s Best-Dressed Men of 2020 list. Or singer and composer Lay, 28, becoming Calvin Klein’s first-ever Chinese global ambassador. You might’ve watched rapper and youngest member Sehun, 25, on Netflix’s detective program Busted, or glimpsed leader and vocalist Suho, 28, waving from the red carpet as an honorary ambassador of the International Film Festival & Awards Macao. These are just a few of the places and memories that stamp the proverbial passport of EXO’s lives this year.
It’s been an equally powerful year musically for EXO too. With two members — Xiumin, 29, and D.O., 26, — currently completing their mandatory military enlistment and Lay promoting in China, the remaining six members of EXO have explored their own individual musical identities in 2019. Power vocalist Chen, 27, released two solo albums that chronicled love and heartbreak through mature, heart-warming ballads, while Baekhyun’s groovy solo album, City Lights, broke the highest monthly sales record for a solo artist in South Korean chart history with over 500,000 copies sold. Sehun and Chanyeol teamed up this summer for the debut of EXO-SC, EXO’s hip-hop sub-unit, while Baekhyun and Kai joined forces to “jump and pop” in SM supergroup SuperM.
As Chen tells Teen Vogue, this year has been “a time for EXO to reflect” on their past, present, and future as they reunite to promote their sixth album Obsession.
It’s December 4th, 2019, and the six members are dressed in thick, woollen, neutral-toned sweaters and trenchcoats to protect themselves from the arctic winds billowing throughout Seoul. There’s a warm camaraderie to their interactions as they laugh amongst themselves and take sips of their iced coffees. The atmosphere feels comfortable and familial, born from an understanding of each other’s mindsets and quirks that has been learned organically over the group’s career.
“It’s been seven years since we debuted and we’ll be hitting eight years next year; that’s a long period of time,” Chen says. His humble, calm demeanor is a balm for the rest of the group who cling to his introspective thoughts. “We reflected on our past journey and tried to make improvements in this new album. It’s been a grateful and fun time.”
This desire to continuously push boundaries both musically and creatively has been at the crux of EXO’s identity since their debut in 2012. Originally split into two groups, EXO-K and EXO-M, EXO performed their shared discography in both Korean and Mandarin in an effort to appeal to two major music markets simultaneously. The groups came together in 2013 to release their debut album, XOXO, and the album’s repackage released later in the year saw EXO’s popularity hit a fever pitch with the funky, dance-pop single “Growl.” Since then, each of EXO’s last five albums have sold over a million copies in South Korea alone, earning them the title “quintuple million sellers.”
The group is not only a staple in South Korea but across the globe too. From performing in front of the world at the closing ceremony of the 2018 Winter Olympics to becoming the first K-Pop group to have their faces projected on the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, EXO has stamped their name in the annals of pop history with their devotion toward their music, fans (called EXO-L), and each other. As they’ve matured over the years, that dedication hasn’t wavered.
“In our early years we just played together, whereas now we’ve grown up and matured,” Baekhyun replies. The singer’s personality is brighter than his shining white hair, and he thrives on the reactions to the jokes he makes throughout our chat. “We share a lot about where we’re headed in life, what we want to do for the upcoming album, and discuss how we can come together closer as a team to improve our teamwork.”
That tight-knit teamwork manifested itself in multiple ways throughout this year. From congratulating each other on Instagram like Lay did for Baekhyun’s solo debut to Xiumin and Sehun emceeing Chen’s solo album press conferences, the members have made it a point to support one another with every milestone they achieve, both individually and as a group. It also took center stage as the group embarked on their fifth world tour, Exo Planet #5 – The EXplOration, this July.
Part of the decision to go on tour, according to Suho, is because it makes the fans “happy,” which in turn makes EXO happy; this treasured time spent with fans also one of the reasons why the group worked tirelessly to release their new record in between their jam-packed personal schedules.
“Since the year EXO debuted, we’ve released an album every year. We’ve never skipped a single year,” Suho answers. With attention-grabbing ruby red hair, the leader holds himself with a quiet confidence and classic charm. “Even though it wasn’t a formal promise we made, it’s been a tradition to release an album each year, even if that means we have to make the promotion period short. Everyone’s been having hectic schedules, but it’s very meaningful for us to spend the end of the year with the fans.”
Tumblr media
Heavily rooted in the group’s constant state of reinvention, the concept for Obsession sees EXO face off against their evil, superpowered doppelgängers X-EXO. Superpowers have been a common thread that has tied EXO’s music video multiverse together since their debut single “MAMA”, with each member utilizing their own signature power ranging from Chanyeol’s pyrokinesis to Kai’s teleportation abilities. When X-EXO arrives ready to destroy the planet in the group’s music video, the result is an explosive, superhero-style brawl between good and evil that leaves viewers enthralled.
In the lead up to shooting the music video, EXO emphasized the importance for both of their characters to have their own distinct, contrasting identity. While EXO dressed in weathered, straight laced black cargo pants and berets as if ready to march into war, X-EXO celebrated their eccentricities with jewel toned hair colors, white eyelashes, and uniquely cut clothing that bridged the gap between menacing and seductive.
“Our main focus was to draw a big contrast. All of us thoroughly discussed with our makeup and hair artists to bring that contrast, almost to the point of exaggeration,” Chanyeol says. He’s as jovial as his bubblegum pink hair and is openly expressive with his emotions, which light up his face whenever he speaks. “We tried to make X-EXO look very dark. EXO, on the other hand, was the good, righteous EXO like what fans have seen in the past. They came easy and naturally.”
“Like Chanyeol said, we discussed thoroughly with the makeup, hair, and costume team so that you could see the contrast right away,” Kai continues. Conscientious and thoughtful, Kai surveys the older members before answering so he doesn’t interrupt them. “Our attitudes also play a key role because they add to the strong visuals. Since it was a video, we all tried to make our performances convincing. X-EXO showed something that EXO had never done before — something mischievous.”
Amongst the members, X-EXO wins in a landslide over the team they liked the most.
“X-EXO had a stronger visual impact,” Baekhyun explains. “Personally, I wish that we made the plain EXO look cooler. That would have been right, because EXO was supposed to be the revolutionary army against X-EXO! I feel like they were visually weaker; I wish we had expressed more passion as EXO.”
With every album, EXO releases a bold title track that shatters the current K-pop paradigm, like the sinister “Obsession” or the reggae, EDM hybrid track “Ko Ko Bop." The remainder of the tracks on the albums typically allow EXO to explore new genres and make them their own, which range from hip-hop dance tracks like “Ya Ya Ya”, which samples ‘90s vocal trio SWV’s “You’re The One”, to heart-fluttering ballads like “Butterfly Effect."
Kai’s favorite track on the album is “Jekyll," which he loved from the first listen. “It starts off like a sweet R&B song, but the chorus suddenly changes into this shouting, which I think is in line with the duality expressed in the album,” he says. “I immediately thought that we could show a very different type of performance for this song — I can’t wait to perform this on stage and show the fans.”
“I like “Obsession” the most,” Sehun answers. Although under the weather, he makes a point to attend the interview to support his older members. “It was good enough to make the title track, so it’s my favorite.”
Chen picks the dreamy “Groove” because: “I love all the other tracks, but this song made me wonder if I could pull it off when I first heard it because it was such a different genre. It was challenging while recording it, but I love the result. It’s one of the songs that I feel most attached to.”
Chanyeol also fell in love with “Jekyll”, but is also partial to the similarly haunting reggae track “Trouble”. “The song came out to be great; I think we pulled it off pretty well,” he says happily.
“‘Day After Day’ for me,” says Baekhyun. While the other members have been discussing their favorites, he’s been silently exchanging silver rings with Suho. He nicks Chanyeol’s wire-rimmed glasses and puts them up his face backwards, reveling in the laughter he receives. “The song reminds me of a certain type of weather. I like songs that remind me of something — a song with a theme or story. ‘Day After Day’ does that for me.”
“I was going to say the same,” Suho says, shocked. A mischievous grin spreads on Baekhyun’s face. “Stop it,” he teases.
The room is whipped into uncontrollable laughter as Suho jokingly grasps the collar of Baekhyun’s sweater, as if he’s about to wrestle the other singer mid-interview. Suho’s faux fury only makes Baekhyun’s smile grow wider and he lets out a loud ahh, ahh! before Suho lets go.
“It reminds me of rain!” Suho complains, but a smile is working its way across his face too. “That’s because the lyrics have the word ‘rain’ in them,” Baekhyun dryly quips. “Choose something other than ‘Day After Day’,” Kai urges in between laughs. “Day after tomorrow? Two days after tomorrow?” The laughter doubles.
In the end, Suho chooses “Baby You Are." “The song uses band sounds and I really like the sound of the guitar,” he answers, before replying in English: “The intro is the best!” He flashes an assured smile and gives a thumbs up to further prove his point.
“The intro is your part!” Chen lovingly chides. “It’s because you sang that part!”
Tumblr media
The most emotional track on the album is “Butterfly Effect," which is a direct callback to the group’s 2013 song “Don’t Go” (which literally translates to “Butterfly Girl”). The song, according to Chanyeol, was selected as a way to thank fans for their unwavering support over the last seven years.
“After viewing the different universes portrayed in EXO’s albums, you’ll be able to see a connection between Obsession and our previous records,” Chanyeol says. “In songs like ‘Don't Go’ and ‘Butterfly Effect’, there are butterflies that resist the Red Force [the canonical evil force mentioned throughout EXO’s music videos] and protect EXO. To us, these butterflies represent our fans, who are always beside us no matter what. They are why and how we exist.”
He continues: “Because of our fans — through their love and support — we are able to overcome any difficulties [we face as a group]. This is probably one of the biggest messages that we wanted to share on this album.”
Prior to their debut seven years ago, the members’ goals for the future were heavily built upon their dream to debut together. Chanyeol recalls that, before they were ever officially called EXO, each member was bonded together by a “common goal to create good music as one” as well as their frequent discussions while training to “work together for a very long time."
“At the time of our debut, we had achieved nothing and everything was up in the air. We talked about working together for a long time, hitting number one on the chart, winning awards, and more,” Kai replies, tone contemplative as he leans closer. “Personally speaking, when we eventually achieved all those goals, I realized, yes, winning awards and being successful is important, but more importantly being able to perform happily as an artist is what mattered the most. There were times when I obsessed over our sales record, stages, and something tangible, but now my goal and dream is to be a happy artist, being satisfied with what I do.”
At the end of Kai’s answer, EXO breaks out into a hearty round of applause. Kai bashfully shines on the encouragement with a soft grin. “He’s like a supervisor,” Baekhyun teases. Chanyeol concurs, “He’s like a CEO!”
Looking ahead, EXO’s goals for the upcoming year aren’t the grandiose, tangible achievements of their youth, but rather to keep the promise they made to each other all those years ago: to make music together for a really long time. “I’m wishing all the members’ health and happiness [in the future],” Chen says.
“Being able to perform for a long time as one, being able to meet the fans for a long time…” Kai reflects. “That’s the most important.”

[INTERVIEW] EXO - 191220 Teen Vogue: K-Pop Stars EXO Reflect on How Far They've Come — and How Far They'll Go
"As Chen tells Teen Vogue, this year has been “a time for EXO to reflect” on their past, present, and future.
“That’s the most important.”"

Hi~ can i maybbee have the reaction of Levi, Jean and Eren if they were to travel to the modern world where their s/o is from and they go into her bedroom just to see her walls plastered with posters and pictures of some famous boy group (BTS for example?) She was a really big fan of the group or even a member from the group before she met them, would they be jealous about all the pictures? What would they think/say about her being a huge fan?? Thanks! Have a great day/night~!
[a/n: as a kpop fan myself, I can’t help but get into this right away! hahahahaha]
Jean [ft. J-Hope | BTS ]
Tumblr media
Jean has been with you for a while now, yet it’s his first time seeing your room. First thing he saw was a giant poster of Hobi... and Hobi dolls, acrylics and even photocards that you turned into a collage. Hey, these were duplicates! The others are safely tucked in your binder - with your endless postcards and stickers. “who’s that?” Jean asked, unamused. It’s really evident on his face, which in his sadness got much longer. You can’t help but giggle at that. “You know, people say Hoseok - that guy - has a horse face. Looking at you right now I can say you do, too. I guess I have a type.” Jean took some time to appreciate your joke, and you spent the rest of the day showing him videos of your ult group.
Eren [ft. G-Dragon | Bigbang ]
Tumblr media
“He is the single most talented and coolest person on earth!” You told Eren, as passionate as he is when he talks about killing titans. He grabbed your One of a Kind album and wrinkled his nose, “he wrote this book?” “Well, it isn’t a book, but he did write it. And so many other songs. Let me play them.” Crayon blasted on the background as you and Eren moved about in your room, showing him the expensive PeaceMinusOne merch you’ve accumulated. You notice Eren glaring at your huge G-Dragon Coup d'etat poster. “Do you like him?” Eren asked, insecurity clear on his voice. “Yes... but not as much as I like you. Besides, he’s just a talented person I look up to.” You spent the day showing Eren just how much he means to you - and he may have covered the countless Jiyong faces hat seems to be glaring back at him.
Levi [ft. Sehun | EXO ]
Tumblr media
“Do people in this world have this much... artwork in their rooms?” Levi asked as he took in your room... your shrine to EXO. With Sehun being your bias though, he took up the majority of your bedroom. You even have a small Vivi plushie on your bed. “This man... he’s on the paintings a lot.” “Posters.” You corrected Levi. You were both standing in front of Universe Sehun poster as you told him about the World’s biggest boy group EXO. You were telling him about how much of a cultural phenomenon Growl was when he interrupted you, “You mean he’s a singer? I thought he makes... coffee.” “No! That’s just their concept for Universe.” You told him more... about the Dubai star, Burj Khalifa... you can tell Levi can’t understand more than half of what you’re saying, still he gave you undivided attention and a very intense stare. “You know, you kinda give off the same vibe as Sehun. No wonder they called him Sehun Ackerman during the Love Shot era.” Being compared like that to Sehun didn’t amuse Levi, though and told you that you two would be cleaning your room and start off by taking off your posters. It took you all night to convince him otherwise and to show him he has nothing to worry about.

For Those New To EXO!
EXO was originally divided as EXO-K and EXO-M: “K” stood for Korean and “M” for Mandarin. One sub-unit would promote in Korea and the other would promote in China). They debuted as 12 members in 2012 with 6 per sub-unit, but two membersleft in the year 2014 (names: Kris and Luhan) and one left in 2015 (name: Tao). The reasons as to why they left are due to personal issues, health issues, and conflict with their company. A lot of fans left during those years and many people believed that they'd flop after these events. Many didn’t even believe in EXO’s success even before they lost members, that they wouldn’t become so popular. Obviously, the opposite happened.
There are only 9 members now. Ordered from oldest to youngest: Xiumin (3/26/1990), Suho (5/22/1991), Lay (10/7/1991), Baekhyun (5/6/1992), Chen (9/21/1992), Chanyeol (11/27/1992), D.O (1/12/1993), Kai (1/14/1994), Sehun (4/12/1994).
EXO debuted with the concept of being “aliens” with superpowers; coming from Exoplanet, they’re protectors of the tree of life and have come to earth in order to protect the heart of the tree of life and now earth from the red force. Each member has their own power and symbol: Xiumin-Ice, Suho-Water, Lay-Healing, Baekhyun-Light, Chen-Lightning, Chanyeol-Fire, D.O-Force/Earth, Kai-Teleportation, and Sehun-Wind. (They also each have their own number for clothing/jerseys). This superpower concept has remained in each comeback, and they’re one of the only (if not, the) groups to have such a foundation and artistic style based on the same concept for so long.
Despite people’s pessimistic view of the group, EXO was a really hyped up group by their company with a total of 23 teasers starting on December 21, 2011. Each teaser was made to slowly reveal who is who in the band, their concept, and their capabilities as rookies. This was done until March 21, 2012, and during that time two music videos were made prior to debut. Those music videos were not yet their official debut.
Side note: EXO-M only had 4 Chinese members: Kris, Luhan, Lay, and Tao. Xiumin and Chen were also in EXO-M but they are Korean.
Another side note: they still do create Chinese versions of their songs, they also had a Japanese debut in 2015 so they also have some Japanese discography as well.
ANOTHER SIDE NOTE: A sub-unit of EXO, EXO-CBX, debuted in 2016 and the member Lay also had his solo debut the same year (Lay’s solo discography are all written, arranged, and produced by him). EXO-CBX consists of the members Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin.
LAST SIDE NOTE: The EXO fandom is called EXO-L. The 'L' stands for Love. In the alphabet, the letter “L” is the 12th letter (for twelve members) and links the letters K (EXO-K) and M (EXO-M). EXO-Ls are considered to be a sub-unit of EXO so: EXO-K + EXO-L + EXO-M = One. Therefore, the band's slogan "WE ARE ONE!" means that the band members and the fans are ONE. EXO-Ls are in charge of promoting worldwide Love for EXO-K and EXO-M."

Goodbye Christmas (December 22nd, 2017) - title track of his winter extended play Winter Special Gift.
Give Me A Chance (October 7th, 2018) - pre-release single for his album Namanana.
NAMANANA (October 19th, 2018) - title track for the third album. It’s also his official U.S. debut under the name Lay Zhang. Each song on the album is both in Chinese and English, totaling to a count of 22 tracks.
EXO is a group that has broken multiple records: fastest selling concerts (0.2 seconds), youngest group ever to perform at Tokyo Dome, best selling artist in Korea for 4 years in a row, 4 million sellers, etc. Even individually, members have broken records (Lay’s Lose Control EP broke seven out of eight Guinness World Records on the YinYueTai China Weekly Charts). They’ve made monumental achievements not only as an idol group but have given great contributions to the Hallyu wave (performed at the Pyeongchang Olympics closing ceremony, first artist/k-pop act/non-royal to be displayed on the led screens of the Burj Khalifa, etc.).

Epik High in Berlin, European tour 2019
Although Berlin is 4 hours by bus from where I live, I just couldn't miss the chance to go see Epik High and their first ever concert in Europe with their new album Sleepless in __________!!!
I don't know where to begin but I should start by saying it was amazing, just like every concert of theirs that I was lucky enough to attend. Last time I saw them, I got to be about a meter away from Mithra when he came into the crowd to take the family picture and this time, I shook hands with him ;; twice for the record, I joked around with Tukutz, pointing fingers at each other (I felt so embarrased after I did that lol) and I managed to... slightly touch the fingertips of Tablo 🙈
The entrance and the queuing was a bit chaotic but we (fans) pulled through and after putting my coat in the cloakroom, I could finally enter the venue. Almost miraculously, I managed to find one friend that I made while waiting outside (I am always going to their concerts alone haha where are some friends who have similar music taste as me😭)!!! And she was standing right below the stage, where you could literally rest your hands on the stage... No security barrier or anything 😍 so I stayed there, she even shared her water with me 😢💖 and we were both excited to see them come up the stage. At 8 the concert began, Tukutz came on stage first and played a piece of classical music, I think it was Moonlight sonata (not sure though) and then it slowly faded into In Seoul. Then Tablo and Mithra came on stage, the crowd shouting, and we heard the first words from Tablo which were “Hello Berlin!”.
After In Seoul, they performed No Thnx which pumped up the energy but I still didn’t feel the Epik energy that I experienced on their other conerts. It felt like they were a bit unsure of how to treat us, European fans, but once they saw our faces and heard our screams, I looked specifically at Mithra, he had such a delighted and even proud smile on his face. After that they played Here come the regrets - an entirely English song - to which everyone knew the lyrics, then Bleed and Burj Khalifa, which really hyped up the crowd. Btw we were like 200 people in the audience which I loved because it felt really personal ;;. Also a funny thing, I was taking these short videos throughout the concert to not forget all the songs they played and during Burj Khalifa, I saw they were opening the water bottles and right before they poured it onto us, I stopped recording and hid my phone 😂😂 .
“That was fun” said Tablo. He asked for towels (to throw out later) and asked us “Did you guys like the album?” -mediocre response- “Did you guys love the album?” -very loud shouting- 😂 “Did you all hear the album? Then I’m sure you’ll know this next song, Let’s go!”. That’s how 새벽에 (Eternal Sunshine) started. A lot of people also sung along because the chorus is partly English~ During this song, Tabo sat down at the edge of the stage almost right next to me ;; but it was so nice seeing their smiles when they saw we know the words to the songs they had released.. not even two days before the concert.
Next played Love love love and there was a short break where they (Tablo) talked about how they came to Europe, that they were jetlagged because the trip through London took them 20 hours and that they got reenergetized when they got on stage. They also said that the night before, they ordered a glass of beer each and that it was huge 😂😂 but they still drank two each. Tablo also said that it was the first time for them to be in Germany, and first time ever in Europe for Tukutz. Tablo asked Mithra and Tukutz to say something to us and they tried, it was cute and funny, one Korean fan (that happened to be traveling in Berlin right on that day) shouted 사랑해 (I love you) when Mithra was speaking so he said it to her back and then said it in German too ;;
Then they talked about how they have to leave their families for a long time to do the tour so some fan shouted “Home is far away” and they almost didn’t perform it because “it’s in our contract that we can’t sing any songs that were spoiled. I don’t want to put you on the spot *fan’s name* but thanks to him, Tukutz had to delete the track”. I almost believed him when he started rapping his verse without the backing track 🤣🤣
After that, they took us according to Tablo’s words “way back. I don’t know if you’ll know this song” and it was Map the soul ;; I like that song so much and I got overly excited over it 🤣. After this, they said “it’s not hot enough here” so I was mentally preparing myself for jumping and getting hit by water. Kill this love, High Technology, One (Tukutz went to the front, danced, he did the floss omg, hilarious, and he stood right above me - that’s when the finger pointing fooling around with me happened ;;; I have made him laugh ;;;; anyways.. (I died a little on the inside) I also really love One so I was really excited and singing along..
Then Tablo was all of a sudden saying it’s almost over...??? and “I do all this talking and he (Tukutz) does “I’m good”... I have to rap, I have to talk, 말좀해 ~씨” 😂😂😂 So Tukutz started speaking English and he actually said a lot of things!!! “I’m sorry, this time is my first visit to Europe, I’m so excited and so happy, I’ll be back soon, thank you for coming to our show and I love you, I’m good” so Tablo went “That was unbelievably good” and they switched places. Then the Korean fan literally yelled “김정식” and he was so surprised 😂😂😂 so he started speaking Korean “네? 아 안녕하세요” and Tablo said “Say hello to the new leader of Epik High” but Tukutz brought up the idea of taking a picture (all in English) so we were taking the family picture for a while. They jumped into the crowd but then couldn’t get back up lolol but after they did, they performed Fan and even did the dance hihi.
This is the family picture 😭❤️
Tumblr media
Then it really seemed like the end, they didn’t come back up for a long time but the bass from Born hater started playing. Born Hater and Don’t hate me were the only encore songs... I was kinda sad when it really ended because they always did two encores and teased us about it but they probably had to cut it short because of the venue... the guards were really unfriendly and they kicked me out because it was VIP time and I was still talking to some of the people who had those tickets... That’s how I got separated from everyone I got to know, I went to get my coat and I went to my hotel room, I took a walk from the subway and listened to the new album ;;
The only thing that was a bit disappointing was that Tablo promised merch but there was none in the end ㅠㅠ but I got a concert bracelet from a few girls who made them for them for 2€ (they said it would go to charity but I wouldn't mind spending that money on a memory tbh😅)
Also I felt embarrassed at times because I was the only one nearby who knew and actually sang out loud some Korean lyrics 😂😂 I also got way too excited for songs like High technology, Fan and Love love love 🤣 I mean, I did the L letter with my hand when nobody really did it..
I also felt that they were talking less than usually but that may have been because of the language barrier..! and if you ever have the chance to, go to their concert in Korea... the energy there is unbelievable. But you don’t get to shake hands with Mithra when he’s performing muhaha (I’m still in disbelief he came to me and my friend and shook hands with us.. just like that, and he came back later to shake them again) I’m really speachless... and sleepless
