the amount of people i still see complaining about furiosa using "too much cgi" is so irritating and shows that people read something online and run with it as a collective.

majority of the movie was actually done with stunts and practical effects. media literacy is dead and so is the ability to enjoy a director's or cinematographer's choice in stylized flair i guess.

The office complex was one whole set, but the new part is much grayer than the brilliantly red office (top right, final frame). George mentioned to me that the color red has historically been used as a show of wealth and power. It used to be that only royalty could afford bright red clothing because the dyes were so expensive, hard to obtain, and labor intensive. It's also the color of primal rage. So you have a man with this internal rage—Chancellor Palpatine, aka Sith Lord Darth Sidious—but as his power grows the red fades out, and his world becomes gray. Hes becoming completely cold and mechanical, much like the Death Star. The passion goes away, and he achieves a sort of Zen-like evil.

fascinating to know that the degree to which the aesthetic design of the prequels was deeply intentional and filled with storytelling. so much of the emotional story is generated and guided by the visual impact of the film, and the shift from royal crimson to imperial gray, mirroring sidious's journey from a leader of the republic to emperor, and his passionate rage passing away as he gained absolute power, just as vader becomes more machine than man... it's perfect.

the thing i have to admit is:

i don't really care for reality shows, or game type shows where people compete against each other. i don't hate them but they're not something i'd choose to watch when there are so many other options on my to-watch list

so: i don't actually enjoy run bts very much. and people saying this episode was more like a run bts ep sort of confirmed why it seemed less interesting comparatively, for me personally

like the best part was the insights we got into the interpersonal dynamics. and i do love the cute moments. but it just seemed more ... impersonal? for the most part to me it lacked the domestic intimacy and relatively laid back pace that i enjoyed from the first eps.

i know people that delight in shenanigans and teasing or pranks (verging on bullying) probably have a very different view. but i think i would have enjoyed it more if they had just maybe gone sightseeing or out on the water immediately idk

(i think it's just the sensitivity because of having been bullied and teased all the way to high school, i just have a bad secondhand embarassment squick and a dislike for anything with even s whiff of meanspirited-ness. i really cannot handle pranks without feeling anger on the pranked person's behalf, and i'm aware it's specifically a me thing, but sometimes stuff like that is just unwatchable for me)

A little look behind the scenes for the animated short film I worked on earlier this year :) That will get its own post in due time, but for now I wanted to share a little bit about the strategies I used for the color styling in the film! I love combining more technical approaches with creative sensibilities to arrive at an outcome that supports my artistic vision while resting on foundational principles of art and design.

In my internship last summer I got the chance to do a lot more color styling work and ever since then I have loved getting to develop my eye for color palettes further <3

From a Watsonian perspective the last scene of The Hobbit is kind of really sad, actually?

Because. Listen. So the last scene is this slightly expository "where-are-they-now" wrap-up, right? The ending goes into a summary of Bilbo's life post-adventure, and then zooms back in to a particular scene of Gandalf and Balin visiting Bag End and telling Bilbo what happened to the OTHER people who were involved in the adventure. It makes good structural sense.

BUT... From an in-universe perspective, we know that Bilbo didn't finish his book--or at least didn't stop working on it--until after the Council of Elrond, if then. In fact, as he's leaving the Shire, he tells Gandalf that he's thought of a nice ending for it: "And he lived happily ever after to the end of his days"--a line which does more or less appear in the last chapter of The Hobbit, but immediately before the actual final scene.

Therefore, there's a real case to be made that Bilbo wrote that last scene after coming to Rivendell--or, in other words, after visiting the Lonely Mountain and finding Balin had gone away and gone missing. It's even possible that he and/or Frodo (who we know to have heard about Balin's visit to the Shire) added that scene as the ending after learning about Balin's death--but in any case, we know that Bilbo knew, when working on the end of his book, that something bad had most likely happened to Balin.

Which means I can imagine Bilbo--missing his friend, wondering about his fate, maybe also living in the uncertainty of Frodo's quest and the gathering darkness--very deliberately choosing to end his book there (or else Frodo, finding the scene in his notes, choosing to insert it there as an expression of Bilbo's wishes). It means that there's maybe another reason that The Hobbit ends on that final image, one of Bilbo and Balin and Gandalf sharing talk and pipes in Bag End. They're together, prosperous, safe and well and happy...and on that note, the curtain falls.

'Thank goodness!' said Bilbo, laughing, and handed him the tobacco-jar.

That is where the story ends, and where the figures in it are finally left; and I think there's something to be said about the fact that that's where Bilbo drew the curtain. As if, in a way, by leaving off there, that evening is left suspended forever--so that, in these pages at least, Balin is still at ease with his friends in Bag End, in the peace of an autumn evening in the Shire and undisturbed by darkness.

ღ you had already told heeseung about your upcoming performance at MAMA and gave him a huge spoiler about the killer dance break

ღ But in typical heeseung fashion, he was still surprised when he saw your captivating performance of your latest songs and couldn't help but send love struck eyes your way

ღ poor heeseung was too busy admiring the way you professionally switched between different dance moves, and the way you'd wink at the camera when it was your part,to notice that the camera was sneakily recording his reaction

ღ and enhypen being enhypen they decided to not alarm their eldest member and leave him to deal with dating rumors the next day.

ღ but when heeseung heard the sudden loud screams of fans he quickly looked at the big screen and saw his face on there which he quickly covered up with a tight smile and a wave

ღ After your guys' performance was done you and the other enha members clowned him for his actions towards you and how you had him "wrapped around your finger" which he denied and said he had you that way

ღ The following day korea woke up to the news of le sserafim's 6th member and enhypen's eldest member dating.

˚✧ it was known that idols from the same company always did dance challenges together whenever their groups had a new comeback

˚✧ and that was the case with you and jay

˚✧ HYBE decided to pair you with enhypen's jay who was also your dear bf in order to do a dance challenge for your newest group comeback "super shy"

˚✧ and because both you,being form NewJeans and jay,being from enhypen did a dance challenge together it obviously shook both engenes and bunnies and actually most kpop fans

˚✧ but in reality what made the short dance clip so popular is because of the heart eyes you and jay kept doing at each other in the bts video and the shy glances you'd send each other while teaching him the choreography.

˚✧ after filming the tiktok video it blew up because of the many comments suggesting you guys had something going on underneath the idol facade you both put on

˚✧ and you know what they were right because not even 2 weeks later HYBE confirmed the raging news of their two idols dating

˚✧ it was known that sunghoon from enhypen and wonyoung from ive were mc partners together

˚✧ and while many fans thought they looked good together because of their icy visuals it just wasn't the case

˚✧ When wonyoung had an overseas schedule in the US for a photoshoot you had to be the substitute mc for her alongside your boyfriend sunghoon

˚✧ fans noticed the fascinating chemistry between you guys and noticed how it was even better than that of sunghoon and wonyoung

˚✧ which lead to some investigation and what they turned out with is that you and sunghoon must have been friends for you guys to be so comfortable with each other

˚✧ but when they noticed the long lasting eye contact and the close approximity you guys had

˚✧ they knew you guys had to be way more than friends which lead to the fast spread of dating rumors surrounding two rising stars from two different companies

˚✧ the dating rumors got so bad that both HYBE and Starship had to reply to the rumors by confirming their artist's relationship with another idol

˚✧ and what both of you didn't expect was the immense amount of support you got from both engenes and dives

ღ after recent dating rumors sparked around the internet of heeseung and karina,SM ent decided to pair you with yet another member of enhypen to film the new dance challenges of both your groups

ღ and while your companies knew that you and jake were dating, the news was yet to be revealed to the fans

ღ while jake was busy admiring the way you had quickly learned the choreography to his new group comeback 'sweet venom' fans quickly took notice of his lingering stares

ღ fans even noted the way you'd laugh about anything he said like you had known him for a long time

ღ and they thought that you guys fit together perfectly

ღ So Mys and engenes made it their mission to see any possible signs that show that the two of you are dating

ღ and they didn't need to look much as the hints were hidden in plain sight , in which fans quickly noticed you and Jake's shared spotify playlist as you guys had the exact same playlist playing on a weverse live

ღ as well as the countless matching necklaces and rings he got you from prada

ღ while this was enough evidence fans thought that it might just be a coincidence as you guys were famous idols and always wore luxurious jewelry

ღ but what wasn't a coincidence was the picture you accidentally posted on your personal Instagram account,that showed you and jake laying in bed with him petting your hair and you laying on his chest

ღ even though the picture was kinda blurry and was deleted in the matter of nanoseconds some fans manged to screenshot the picture of their favorite idols in a comforting state

ღ after two days of fans demanding for an answer from both companies,SM and HYBE quickly released a statement confirming their artist's relationship and hoping that fans will be acceptable and respectful as they chose to keep their relationship private just not secretive.

Let It Consume You | link

When I first pitched the idea of a Kaishin murder mystery inspired by the classic Noir films of the ‘30s for this year's Kaishin Big Bang 2024, I had no idea that this would be the direction this project would go in. It’s grown into a world and story I never thought I’d have the chops to visually develop, all thanks to the hard work of the incredible @kinsdura in bringing this story to life on paper and bearing with my crazy ideas. Most of the work has been quite technical and bts, but it has truly been a team effort to get this done.

Let It Consume You has become a collaboration I can definitely say I am very proud of. As always, thank you to Mac @kaishinbigbang for hosting this wonderful event! Additionally, I want to take the time to hype up our story, the link to which is here! You won’t regret having a look at @kinsdura’s fic; it’s a joy to read and full of suspense, great pacing, and a flirtatiously dangerous predator-and-prey dynamic between Kaito and Shinichi.

This will not be the last you will hear of LICU! Hope to continue developing our little harbour town and this au into something we can all step back and appreciate in the future :) Maybe I’ll post those too 😂
