Who is she?
A supersoldier? A barfly? An environmentalist icon?
The Erdman chair was born the Emeco Navy Chair in 1944 in Hanover, Pennsylvania, USA. The US Navy had commissioned her father, Wilton Carlyle Dinges, to create a supersoldier. Or at least a chair who could survive the Navy’s constant exposure to moisture, salt, and “the occasional torpedo blast.”
After her sheer indestructability turned hazardous to the company business model, she started working at bars and hotels, whoever her sleek looks and alluring call could seduce.
Now the Erdman chair is part of a push for long-lasting products made from sustainable materials. I swear I’m not paid by the company I just think this is so cool.
#bmcbanter#bryn mawr college#navy chairs#erdman chairs#i've built up this whole thing in the queued posts about this being A Species#but this felt more like a personal bio to me#maybe She is the hivemind#idk if anyone wants to submit any you are welcome to choose whatever narratives you want#or none you don't have to be silly

Seeing your posts about Bryn Mawr, and the pictures of it, make me wonder if it served as a model for the design of Beacon Academy in the series RWBY
I haven't seen RWBY, but Bryn Mawr's architectural style is "collegiate Gothic," a style favored by many prestigious colleges and universities founded in the US prior to the 20th century. So RWBY may not be based on Bryn Mawr in particular but on collegiate Gothic, because that suggests an old-fashioned (snobby?) institution of higher learning.
That architectural style in turn is based on the University of Oxford, whose roots date back to the English Middle Ages, when training for clerks (civil servants) and clergy overlapped. So it resembles (and was probably built by the same masons as) Gothic cathedrals and monasteries.

A girl from my college messaged me about being roommates, and she seemed like she could be a great fit but then I had to be like “ya know you probably should read my transparency posts on my page first” and sure enough she was like “yeah I think I need to room with someone more ideologically similar to me” and I’m not surprised but I am a bit sad. :(

"Well, first you PUT the baby IN the Jell-O..."
All the magic in the world won't make that happen.
#gods I haven't thought of that bit of darmok since about 1990#it was the all-purpose answer#when someone started to ask a question#and then stopped trying to figure out how to phrase it#also very common while playing D&D#bryn mawr college

Reasons I want to go to a women's college
a higher concentration of women means a higher concentration of lesbians, as in higher chance of me getting a gf
more equitable access to STEM programs (students at women's colleges are 1.5 x more likely to be participating in a STEM program than women at co-ed schools)
getting a gf
women's colleges tend to be smaller schools with close-knit communities and involved professors (not to say that all professors are great, but there tend to be more research opportunities, etc at women's colleges)
getting a gf
they tend to be accepting towards lgbtq+ students, and many of them accept nonbinary students as well now.
many women's colleges have good leadership programs
getting a gf

there is so much about me when taken out of context that makes me believe i was destined to be someone's favorite professor.
#gripping the sing vanity white knuckled i was MEANT to teach at bryn mawr#i am your weird lesbian english prof who listens exclusively to jazz and old folk music and dresses like a conservative christian#but is very blatantly a communist#like i am spiritually a 50 year old creative writing professor at an elite liberal arts college.#carly.txt

Find something non-breakable with satisfying throwing heft that will make a solid thwack, crackle, smack, thump, or crunch sound on impact, and will not scatter debris or leave a mark.
modeling clay
silly putty
hand therapy goo
Play-doh (warning: might leave color on light wall)
Shoe
Baseball (definitely needs to be wrapped)
Tennis ball
Saltshaker with the holes taped over
Pad/wrap object or wall as needed with foam pad, cardboard, paper, towel, bubblewrap, duct tape or cloth taped around it to blunt impact of hard edges or corners. Sound may be enhanced with stiff paper, aluminum foil, plastic, beads, buttons, etc.
Find a brick wall, clear a space to access the back wall of your closet, or try the back or side of a cabinet to use as a throwing surface.
Optional: print out or draw a picture of something/someone annoying to tape up for target practice.
THROW. HARD.
what are you even supposed to do when youre angry. cant scream at anyone cos im not a dick. cant break anything cos i paid money for that. cant rip my hair out cos i need it on my head. literally what now
#the author of this post f#does not condone the throwing of extremely sexist books by Piers Anthony#an old Bryn Mawr College tradition
