because!!! because i was thinking about how funny it is that Bruce's first two kids (Dick and Danny) would be superman fans, and how funny it would be if that influenced his opinion on Superman when they first met. And then I got to picking that apart, and how Danny's opinion and feelings on Superman would have the bigger impact on Bruce than Dick, since Dick's admiration for Superman (presumably) comes from the standard little kid "he's an alien and he can FLY" (and flying graysons) stuff. Which, while very very cute, is easy to ignore and disallow swaying feelings on.

But DANNY? It's not the same. While part of Danny's admiration comes from the same "holy shit he's an alien and can fly thats so COOL" vein, it also comes from a place of feeling deeply relatable to him. Both he and Superman were/are perceived as incredibly powerful, deeply dangerous creatures that are nigh impossible to stop, they have a handful of powers that are similar to one another, and they are (one of) the only ones of their kind. Superman is (one of) the last Kryptonian, Danny is (one of) the only Liminal in existence, and they might not be the same species but the principle remains the same and they're in the same boat.

As a result, Danny would just, god, he'd find so much relation in that. And yeah they're not the same but Superman would make him feel just a little less alone, a little more seen, and he'd find so much comfort in that.

And Bruce, by the time he meets Superman, would know by then about Danny's powers and his experiences and his time as Phantom and as a Liminal. And it's easy to ignore your kid's admiration for another Superhero when it stems from a place of plain hero worship or simple appreciation. It's harder to ignore it when your kid admires a Superhero because they make them feel seen and relate to them on a level you can't reach them on.

When that's the reason, how could he not think differently about Superman? When, by then, he's seen the scars left on Danny's body from all of his fights; when he's seen him cry and break down over never being able to fly again thanks to the blood blossom poison; when he's heard all about the struggles he faced with his powers, the fear he had about being found out, the fear he had when he was first developing them; and how he was ostracized by his city for his efforts just because he wasn't human, despite how much he was just trying to help.

How could he not look at Superman when they first meet, mask-to-mask, and have a little voice in the back of his mind go: 'my kid is a lot like you'

--- To answer the original question, well, yes, Davrin said it first (both with the letter, and later as canon in game). Ayanne probably thinks it first, but she's not one to make a big deal for grand declarations, to her love means home and comfort and she feels it, and lives it and demonstrate it every day in small and big actions.

This is how I prevent myself from remembering embarrassing moments of my life, unfortunately, it only works if my braincells can't connect right away.

When I tasted actual yogurt for the first time I didn't like it, I realized Yoplait is a lie, but I'd rather live in that lie, that sugary lie, than the bi-" They're interrumpted by the voice in their head, which shouts "Noooooooo!"

In the next panel, the cat looks up happily, awaiting for a reaction. The voice finally says "I forgot". In the last panel, the cat answers "Good", pleased with themselves, and gets ready to drink their yogurt. End ID.]

For my current longfic, I've been having fun making up my own comparative biology stuff for elves. The most recent one that's tickling me (inspiration from any_open_eye's work for this one) is that human penises are, uh, significantly larger than elven ones. (Human penises are actually weirdly large in our world-- compared to other animals, and definitely other primates, we're disproportionate).

Which is going to make it hilarious when my elven main character finally gets in Emmrich's pants and finds his jusssst-above-human-average 6" cock... which is the elven equivalent of finding out your lover is packing 8". (For people used to the typical and rather generous self-reporting of size: that's the 99.9th percentile folks. Get a thousand very excited men in the same room and this dick will be the longest.) (Don't worry about my search history, don't-- don't worry about it.)

She isn't even a bigger=better person. She's going to be SO taken aback and I'm going to have so much fun writing it.

I'm just trying to make a timeline of Paradise Of Thorns for myself feel free to correct me if it sounds wrong. (Spoilers for the movie)

According to google it takes approximately 3-5 months to grow durian to ripe from when they first bloom, So the movie takes place roughly over 5 months if we go for the longest time.

Thongkam is a monk for about a month (again i just googled how long temple duties take and it said a month).

At the start when asked how long until the durians are ready to sell Thongkam says 4 months, so its been 1 month by himself before they move in.

And then I think when he gets back from being a monk, that's probably close to 4 months being done (he goes to do it 4 months in? based off 1 month by himself, 3 hospital visits )

Mae Saengs hospital visits are once a month, we only see 2, once at the start, and once when Thongkam buys her the wheelchair, but there is a third we don't see where Thongkam goes to sell the produce and tells them they have to take a taxi.

I think Jingna shows up around halfway through the second month.

The time between Sek and Thongkam finding their first durian bloom, getting married, Sek dying, and Seks funeral is unclear to me. I did think they got married, paid off the debt and Sek dying happened in a day but i think it'd make more sense to be like a week. (I thought a day cause Sek asks to marry and its like sunrise, then it cuts to them going to pay the debt, which i assume was already mostly paid off if they could do it this quickly, so like i assume Thongkam insisted on paying it that day instead of whenever he was scheduled to pay it, Sek leaves to do things, then comes back that night. But after trying to time line it i think a week or two sounds more realistic?)

So sometime within the first month all that happens, and then I've just been using the hospital visits to try and count how long each section takes.

-1 month alone/with sek -3 months with Mae Saeng, Mo and Jingna -1 month away at temple -1 month with Jingna (the durians arent fully done when he gets back so I'm adding 1 more month even though thats over 5)

I think Mo's wedding, and the rest of the ending all takes place on the same day/night. Also Sek / Thongkam been together 5+ years

Mo / Sek been together 20 years (?)

(Mo wanted to leave to work in bangkok 10 years ago but Sek convinced her to stay, so Thongkam/ Sek could be together more than 5 years as thats only how long hes been paying the debt?)

i've genuinely never felt more like a fish out of water than while watching these kids shooting tiktoks, and following each other across three different kind of social medias, and having intricate rituals over instagram's stories and the length of their shared spotify playlists like bless their hearts i have no idea what any of it means and im clearly not the target audience here, but that's fine!!!!!!!

i actually find it very interesting to have this window into the younger generations, in a way i feel way closer to them compared to the ones that came before us, but there are still a lot of things that i don't understand, and it's nice to have a show like this to help bridge the gap at least a little

it also gives the series its own particular style and charm, which im enjoying quite a lot, so im definitely gonna keep watching it!!!!!!

I have yet to see an ugly Twi'lek but she does perceive herself differently from reality. For a long time, she thought she could never be loved, that she'd always be seen as a lesser being.. A slave. And she thought that if she couldn't be loved, then she would be feared. Despite her undeniable beauty, her tattoos and scars definitely make her look intimidating. As for her own perception of her physique, she doesn't hate what she sees but doesn't love it either, she definitely doesn't stand infront of mirrors often. In terms of effort, she doesn't actively make herself "prettier" but she does dress herself well! She often prefers robes and dresses because she's kinda self-conscious about her legs (she's quite skinny). With time she does battle her insecurities and start seeing herself as the beautiful woman she is <3

10. Does your OC have a type? Have they ever been surprised by their feelings for someone who doesn't fit this?

Due to her past as a slave she built a lot of distrust for humans (men specifically), so for a while she was mainly attracted to aliens or Twi'leks. I guess she does have a thing for complicated men lol, she's complicated herself so she needs someone who's unapologetically flawed too. "Have they ever been surprised by their feelings for someone who doesn't fit this?" Yes, Mr. Nikos wins that prize LMAO. He does fit the complicated man category, however he does NOT fit into the alien one. She 100% never thought she'd be able to be loved, at all, but even less by a human. Falling in love with him was unexpected but after getting to know him better, she had no doubt he was the right person for her 🥹 (I'm like so normal about them)

Hi! Thank you so much for asking me about this, because it's true that I do feel anxious if I see someone whose OC is very similar to mine/has obviously taken inspiration from me/my art, as my characters are really personal to me and it's a bit uncomfortable to see it imitated.

Ultimately, I don't wanna give guidelines on what you can or can't do as a creative— taking inspiration from others is a normal part of being an artist! But if you feel that your OC draws inspiration from mine in a way that might make them mistakable for each other, publicly crediting me as inspiration would be nice 🙇🙇🙇!
