I have a very soft spot in my heart for Tim being just the loudest little shit on the planet. He was so used to being by himself in the house as a kid, what with how often his parents were out of town. After realizing how cranky he'd get if it was quiet for too long, he started filling the space with noise on his own purely to save his own sanity.
Cue Tim at Wayne Manor being so fucking noisy and Bruce is so tempted to tell him to quiet down but feels kind of bad if he does. And truthfully, it's nice in its own way to have this little weirdo bouncing off the fucking walls and chattering and clicking his pen 80 times a minute and just being his vibrant, noisy self.

My take on stalker!Tim:
Robin!Jason gets distracted during a patrol and doesn’t meet up with Batman, who panics is mildly concerned. Jason doesn’t want to reveal the real reason he got distracted (could be something he was working on for Bruce or just him being a cute baby nerd) so he makes something up the spot. A kid! He saw a kid. It was definitely child shaped. And. Uh. Photography! That’s right, he saw a kid taking photos and made sure he got home safe.
Batman: Photography?
Robin!Jason: Yeah, uh, nighttime photography.
Batman: At midnight?
Robin: I mean, it’s not a school night.
Batman: What were they taking pictures of?
Robin, panicking and going to the first thing he can think of ch just so happens to be last Sunday when Dick called Bruce an emotionally repressed furry: Uh, wildlife?
Bruce is skeptical but honestly he’s seen weirder things even tonight so as long as the kid got home safe…
Jason proceeds to use this same excuse a few more times.
Batman: Don’t tell me, it was the kid again.
Robin!Jason: You just missed him.
Batman, who isn’t feeling strong parental feelings at all: Hrn.
Okay so then fast forward a few years. Jason is on his little murder training gap year and Tim has shown up to the manor trying to fix the disaster that is currently Bruce Batman Wayne. Dick, trying to bond with the kid now that it’s apparent he’s not going anywhere, asks what Tim’s interests are.
Tim: Well, I like photography, and…
Dick, putting two and two together and getting forty-seven: Ohmygosh you’re the kid.
Tim: The what now?
Dick: The kid with the wildlife photography.
Tim, thinking about that one competition he entered a year ago: Uh, I guess?
Dick thinks that’s how Tim figured out all their identities. He thinks he has it all figured out. He does not. Bruce now thinks he has it figured out too. He does not. Tim is unaware there was something to be figured out. Jason is off learning the finer points of poisoning or something idk.
So skip forward some more and Jason is back, minus some murder attempts or whatever because this is crack, and Dick is now trying to get his two brothers comfortable with each other. It is not working. Finally, Dick remembers they’ve definitely met before.
Dick: So, do you remember meeting Tim before?
Jason, whose memory resembles Swiss cheese but is fairly certain he never met Tim before now: Uh…
Dick: He’s the kid! The one with the wildlife photography!
Jason, suddenly remembering the excuse he used several times as Robin: The what now?
Tim, knowing full well that Jason was very dead at the time he submitted anything in a wildlife category: The what now?
Jason pulls Tim into a hall closet to interrogate him about this.
Tim: There’s like five rooms right here that no one has stepped in in a month. Why are we in a closet?
Jason: What, exactly, did Dick mean by you were the one with the wildlife photography, because I’m pretty sure that was just an excuse I made up but now I don’t know.
They figure it out. They also agree to just let that belief be. Jason doesn’t want to admit he made that all up. Tim doesn’t want to admit he thought Dick had gone to his art competition thing before they even officially met. Tim also doesn’t want to explain how he actually figured out their identities because this sounds way cooler. So they decide to just roll with it.
Damian shows up and tries to hunt down Tim’s early photos of Batman. Tim and Jason get really into making it look like he just keeps missing it. Barbara knew about all of this the entire time but no one asked her so she didn’t bother to fill them in.
Everyone else that joins the family after that point and hears the story of Jason and Tim supposedly meeting while Jason was Robin has the exact same response: “Oh, ‘cause Batman’s a furry. Right.”

You stared at the positive pregnancy test in front of you with a frown. You should be happy that you’re having a baby. You should be over the moon since this is what you have always wanted with Bruce. But after the last time, you felt scared now.
“Ummi? Are you okay? You’ve been in there for a while,” you heard Damien call out. You wiped the tears away before opening the door.
“Hey sweetie. I’m alright. What’s wrong?” You asked him.
“You were crying,” Damien pointed out.
“It’s nothing Damien. You hungry?” You asked as you rushed the two of you out of your bedroom.
Damien knew something was wrong but didn’t want to push it with you. He could always push his siblings and his father’s limits but he knew not to push yours. So he summoned a sibling meeting when you were gone with Alfred one time.
“What is it this time?” Jason asked annoyed.
“Ummi is upset and I’m not sure what it is,” Damien told them.
“Did something happen with her and Bruce?” Dick asked him.
“No. She was in the bathroom for a long time though. She came out with some tears on her face,” Damien explained.
“Why was she in the bathroom for a while?” Tim asked.
“Do you think she’s pregnant again?” Cassandra asked.
“Wouldn’t she be happy about it?” Jason pointed out confused.
“Dude. Remember what happened last time she was pregnant?” Duke reminded him.
“Oh. Right,” Jason said sadly.
“What should we do?” Stephanie asked.
“We should let her and Bruce talk first before they come to us. We don’t want to jinx anything and mom probably feels scared and worried about being pregnant again,” Cassandra told them. The rest of the kids nodded in agreement.
When Bruce came back home, he found you curled up in bed wide awake.
“You okay honey?” Bruce asked as he walked over to you.
“I don’t know,” you tell him.
“What’s wrong?” Bruce asked as he sat next to you. You sat up before wrapping your arms around him.
“I’m pregnant,” you said softly. Bruce hugged you back quickly as he pulled you onto your lap.
“Why aren’t you happy?” Bruce asked you.
“Because of what happened last time. What if we lose this one too?” You asked him as you began to tear up.
“Hey now. It’s going to be okay. If it makes you feel better, we’ll set up extra security and do better to keep the villains in Arkham,” Bruce told you.
“I don’t know Bruce. I’m so scared. I don’t want to lose this one too,” you tell him.
“Me neither. But we have each other. And I promise I’ll do anything to keep you and our baby safe.”
Bruce kissed your head before holding you tighter in his arms. He kissed your head once more before lifting your chin up so you could see him. Bruce kissed you gently on the lips before lying down on the bed, pulling you down with him.
“We’re going to be okay,” Bruce assured to you.
You stayed in bed the next day, not wanting to get out. Alfred brought you your breakfast while Bruce and the kids talked downstairs at the table.
“Why isn’t mom with us?” Tim asked.
“Your mom is having some issues right now and needs some time to herself,” Bruce explained.
“What did you do?” Jason asked him.
“I didn’t do anything bad. She just needs a moment to herself without any more worry.”
By dinner time, you were with your family at the dinner table. You sat on your seat as you took in a deep breath.
“I’m pregnant,” you announced out of the blue. Everyone looked at you in shock other than Bruce and Alfred.
“You are?!” Stephanie asked.
“Yes.”
“Which means we need to keep the villains away as long as possible,” Bruce told the kids. The kids agreed.
“Don’t worry mom. We’ll protect you even more this time,” Tim tells you.
“Thank you. But I think I want to be away from Gotham until I have the baby. I want to be somewhere safe and I can’t be safe here,” you explain.
“Bruce, are you okay with this?” Jason asked his adoptive father.
“I support whatever your mother thinks is best for her. Even if it means being away from Gotham.”
“Where would you stay mom?”
“Maybe back to my hometown. It’s much safer than here and it would be nice to be back with some friends and family I had back there,” you explain to them.
“And we can always visit your mother when we can or when she misses us,” Bruce tells the kids.
“So are you going to miss her giving birth?”
“No. I will be with your mother two months before the due date.”
“Is this what you want mom?”
“Yes.”
“Can we stay with you once in a while? For protection?”
“Of course. I’d love the company while I’m away.”
——
It had been nine months since you found out about your pregnancy. Bruce had been by your side for the last two months as he promised. And now, the kids and Alfred were walking up to your room where you had just given birth.
“You ready to lose the bet?” Dick asked Jason as they walked into the hospital.
“I’m not gonna lose,” Jason insisted.
“Uh huh. Sure.”
The moment the Wayne Family walked in, they found you holding your newborn baby in your arms while Bruce was sitting right next to you.
“Hey guys! Come in,” you say softly. Everyone walked into the room more to see the baby.
“How are you feeling Ummi?” Damien asked as he stood next to you.
“Feeling okay now. Everyone, meet the newest Wayne member of the family. Martha Y/m/n Wayne,” you introduced.
“We named her after our mothers,” Bruce tells everyone.
“Pay up,” Jason told Dick who frowned as he gave Jason twenty dollars.
“I have a sister?” Damien asked in shock.
“Yup.”
“I was hoping for a brother but she can still be a good fighter,” Damien said as he stared at his younger sister.
“Alfred, would you like to be the first to hold her?” Bruce asked him.
“I’d be honored to,” Alfred smiled. You handed Martha to Alfred as he held her in his arms.
While everyone took turns holding Martha, you took a quick nap, still feeling exhausted from giving birth. When you woke up, you saw Bruce holding Martha in his arms. He was having skin to skin contact with her as she slept.
“Where is everyone?” You asked.
“Went to grab some food for now.”
“Oh okay.”
“I’m proud of you honey,” Bruce tells you.
“We finally have a baby in the family,” you say with a sigh.
“We finally have a baby. Thank you.”
“For what?”
“For giving me a second chance and for a family.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”

I personally am not a fan of romantic/sexual a/b/o but I do have a headcanon for Tim.
I believe that Tim, regardless of gender, wouldn’t have the scents of his parents on him since they’re gone so frequently, essentially making him packless. Maybe the elites of Gotham prefer to wear scent blockers so there would not be anyone aware of Tim being rejected by his parents.
Taking into account Tim’s distant relationship with the bats when he first became Robin it wouldn’t be a surprise is Tim wasn’t invited to cuddling sessions where they would scent each other. As vigilantes they also frequently would wear scent blockers to avoid identification.
All this is to say that I would find it comedic if one day Red Robin takes off his scent blockers and instead of smelling like the rest of the bats pack if instead you could tell that he had bonded with young justice, romantic or platonic is up to you, since many of the young justice members would have also been rejected from the other packs around them.
-abo anon
Hi!!! Definitely agree on not a huge fan of romantic a/b/o. There's some cool stuff with platonic a/b/o, but shifter and/or creature fics tend to have most of those cool features.
Let's get into the hc/au, though!!!!
Does this AU have anything to do with pack bonds or nesting? For the sake of it, we will say that it does.
You're right that Tim probably wouldn't have his parents' scent on him. In fact, he probably thinks this is normal.
Is it nice when his parents are home, he gets scented, and then he feels safe, secure, and loved for a bit? Yeah. However, that's a luxury, not a need. It's nice, but Tim can live without it. He has everything else he needs (Tim, buddy, no).
We tie this mindset into the Gotham elite one as well. Tim knows it's improper to just have proof of scents wafting around. Everyone wears scent blockers (perhaps this became a norm due to rich people having affairs, marrying for money, etc). Therefore, Tim thinks it has to be common that the upper class just doesn't scent, or doesn't scent often. It's like those weird sitcoms Tim sees on the TV.
Then he becomes Robin.
At first, due to Dick and Bruce fighting, Tim doesn't see much of the cuddling, nesting, scenting behaviors. They still do it, but not as often or openly.
As the family starts to heal, the Waynes aren't purposefully trying to exclude Tim or anything. In fact, Dick (and maybe Bruce too) want to engage in those familial/loving activities. However, it's very intimate and only done with people you consider family. Dick does consider Tim to be his brother, but Tim has his parents. Also, how would the Waynes explain scenting their son to the Drakes when the Drakes go to do a similar thing?
Even after the Drakes die, Tim has his "uncle." They can't really explain away the Waynes scenting Tim, so they keep refraining.
While all of this is happening, Tim has fond his place with YJ. He's learned what scenting really means, how it's healthy and vital to them, and how horrid it was that his parents weren't around enough to do it. Tim has complicated feelings on that matter, though.
He found YJ and, even with retired members, they make sure to visit often for scenting purposes. Everyone in YJ is part of the family.
As anon said, you can hc a romantic poly for the core four or do a qpr. Either way, they are everything to each other.
Since YJ core were the first to consistently scent and bond with Tim, Kon and Bart's deaths particularly burned.
Anyways, he gets them back and everything. The Waynes are settling down. Things are good.
Then Tim takes off his scent blockers, which, for plot purposes, he's never done in front of the Waynes (maybe something about propriety's sake and YJ being the only ones he takes them off for). Chaos ensue when the Waynes realize that Tim doesn't smell like them, not one bit. He does smell heavily of YJ, though.
Also, perhaps YJ didn't wear blockers, but the batfam didn't know what Tim smelt like (due to the blockers), so they never connected the dots.

Stephanie had said it as a joke. It was meant to be a joke. “Do you know who I love?” Bruce asked. “Me!” Steph offered sweetly, grinning at him. “Yes,” Bruce responded without missing a beat, returning to his point. “And I love-“ Steph didn’t hear the rest, couldn’t hear it over the roaring in her ears, the pounding of her heart. The second she was dismissed she fled. Bruce followed her a few minutes later. “I’m sorry.” He blurted, the second he landed. “Why?” Steph sobbed. He seemed uncertain. “Because it’s not my place and I’m not really your father and-“ “not why are you sorry,” Steph interrupted, wiping her nose with the back of her hand. “Why do you love me?” Bruce blinked in shock. “Why?” He repeated dumbly. Steph nodded. “Why.” Bruce swallowed, cocking his head as he contemplated the question. “Why?” He cleared his throat, taking a seat. “Well, because I think you are perfect.” Steph blinked in surprise. That was not what she had been expecting. “To me, you are… quite simply put, amazing. You have gone through so much, had every reason to hurt people for what happened to you, and yet you turned it into your reason, your cause for fighting.” Bruce looked at her, and his blue eyes shone so earnestly Steph couldn’t look away. “You are funny and kind and so full of this spark of life and it… it makes me better. You are right, good people shouldn’t fear us, and hope is a crucial part of our job. You are… brilliant and smart and… so hopeful for what the world can be, for what people can be. And I admire you for it. I love you, because of it.” Steph stared at him for a while, silent in her own thoughts, digesting all the compliments he had thrown her, then she laughed. Bruce looked startled. “I’m sorry- but you love me because I’m like you?!?” She wheezed. Bruce looked at her, uncomprehending. “Everything- everything you just said- is what I think of you. You inspired me to be Spoiler. Your core values, what you just described, is what created Spoiler!” She gasped with the strength of her laughter, then stilled as Bruce still looked lost. “Oh my gosh,” she whispered. “You don’t see it.” Bruce shook his head. “I am… I’m not you Stephanie. You are so much better than me. You are good and I am-“ “oh please!” Steph snapped. “Stop with that bullshit! Do you know how many of my friends feel safe walking home alone at night because they know you’re patrolling?” She scoffed. “You might not be perfect Bruce, but you are pretty fucking awesome.” At that, Bruce smiled. “Well, seeing as I am pretty fucking awesome, then that must mean you are, because you’re like me.” Steph laughed, and finally, finally, the tension eased from her body. He loved her. He really did. And because he thought she was perfect. Because he believed her to be like him, but better. “I guess we get to be pretty fucking awesome together then huh?” She asked, sending him a grin. Bruce stood, a grin splitting his face as well, and sling an arm around her shoulders in a hug. “I guess so Robin.” He murmured, and Steph let the word slither over her, let it deep into her skin like sunlight, pour into her very soul and settle, her name. Her title. Finally, it felt like it really belonged to her, and wasn’t just some job she was place holding until Tim returned. Stephanie leaned her head against his chest, let her fingers dig into his shirt. “I guess so Batman.” She whispered, and smiled.

a cuckoo in the nest
(part three. for @authenticaussie whose comments on parts 1 & 2 inspired me to write this. i might actually finish writing the whole thing now hehe).
Premise: fae!Tim AU where Tim's parents gave him to the fae when he was nine. Now he's twelve, part fae, and trying to escape the Unseelie Queen. He strikes a bargain: if he can make every member of the Wayne family love him by the end of summer, he can leave. If not, he must stay with the Unseelie Queen forever.
Meanwhile, Bruce strikes his own bargain with her: he gets Jason back, safe and sound. In return he takes in this creature of her choosing, which resembles a human boy. Of course he won't let it hurt his family, but he'll play along for Jason's sake.
[part one] [part two]
~
“What the fuck, Bruce?”
When Bruce’s eldest bursts into his study he knows it’s going to be a long afternoon. Dick has spent much more time around Wayne Manor since he brought Jason back, but he and Bruce haven’t spoken much one-on-one. So Dick approaching him now means he’s ready to fight.
Dick waits for the doors to slam closed behind him before he demands: “Why didn’t you tell us that Tim’s our neighbor?”
Bruce sighs and gestures for Dick to take a seat in the green velvet lacquer chair across from his desk. “What are you talking about.”
“Don’t play dumb,” Dick rages, “I know you knew that Tim used to be our neighbor before his shit parents gave him away. You didn’t think this was relevant information for the rest of us?”
Usually Bruce is pretty good at figuring out what line of thought Dick is racing after like the world’s largest bunny rabbit. He’s not subtle and in fact is usually openly cheerful about it. In this case, however, Bruce struggles to connect the fae in his house with anyone living in Bristol. He mentally sifts through all the information stored in his brain about the current and past Bristol residents (very paltry, compared to his database on the most effective acids and poisons) and finally comes up with Jack and Janet Drake, of Drake Industries. They’d had a son of approximately the right age of the fae–or what the fae appears to be.
Bruce reminds himself that just because the fae looks and acts like a human child doesn’t mean it is anything even remotely human. Like the Unseelie Queen it will exploit every weakness and loophole it can find in the bargain if Bruce lets it. That said, he is reluctantly impressed by the fae’s acting. Of course, the fae says and does things that are transparently unusual for a human child, but given that the fae is not a human at all, it’s doing a rather convincing job of pretending to be one. More than pretending, it attempts to stir sympathy and protective feelings from the other members of Bruce’s family through its lost little boy act. Worst of all, it’s working on them.
“Tim…Drake,” Bruce ventures.
Dick rolls his eyes explosively (quite the feat for anyone but Dick, for whom it is a natural talent). “Yes,” he huffs. “At least with Jason you told us you fished him out of a dumpster. Tim you just dropped him here without a word. I mean I’m trying to include him and stuff but…you aren’t exactly making it easy, B.”
Even though Dick is mad at him, Bruce can’t help the creeping feeling of fondness. It’s been a while since Dick sat in that chair, and Bruce had nearly forgotten how he sprawls, half-noodle, half-boy, into any container he’s put into. Dick has a way of being laidback and looking comfortable everywhere, even at galas where he is distinctly uncomfortable. In Bruce’s office, he looks right at home. When Dick was younger, he used to insist on sitting in the chair even though his feet dangled half a foot off the ground, determined to be grown-up and taken seriously. Now he overflows, draping himself over and around an old wooden chair that no longer fits him.
The memories remind Bruce exactly of what exactly is at stake here. It’s no longer just Jason. Dick, Alfred, even Barbara who is spiritually his, and the mantle of Batman depend upon Bruce winning this battle with the fae.
Unfortunately, the Unseelie Queen’s bargain with Bruce has trapped him in an awful cycle. In order to protect Jason, he must act as if this fae is a regular human boy. But in order to protect his whole family, he must not only keep an eye on the fae but also convince them to be on their guard around it.
“It is not easy,” Bruce enunciates carefully.
Dick rolls his eyes again. “Boys, you have a new little brother, his name is Tim Drake, I acquired him through dubious and doubtless wacky magical means. Boom. How hard was that?”
It is deeply distressing to Bruce that the fae has convinced Dick that it is Tim Drake. A lucky coincidence, perhaps, that the real Drake boy is approximately the right age? But why him, out of all the boys in Gotham? Bruce doesn’t believe in coincidences. He’ll have to look into that.
But first, he must rid Dick of his delusion. He has refrained from interfering with any of the fae’s interactions with his children of Alfred so far, terrified that he might jeopardize Jason’s life. Now the fae goes too far. Nevertheless, Bruce has faith in his children, in his brilliant, clever, caring boys. They’ll figure the fae out.
“It is not easy,” Bruce repeats. “It is…impossible.”
“Impossible to say what? His name? Where you got him?” Dick’s eyebrows knit together when Bruce stays silent. “B. What type of magical means?”
Bruce sits ramrod straight. He places both palms flat on the desk, brushing aside some old papers on WE finance reports. Stares right into Dick’s eyes. And says nothing.
“Ohhhhhhhh.” Dick leans back in his chair, fingers laced behind his head. “I see what you’re saying. Or what you’re not saying. I’m picking up what you’re putting down.” He waggles a finger at Bruce, frown replaced with his typical cheeky smile. “Don’t worry B, me and Babs are on the case. We’ll figure this out for you no prob.”
“Hnnnnn,” Bruce says neutrally.
“Hehe, I knew you couldn’t suck that much at communicating.” Dick springs up and leaves the office whistling what seems to be birdsong, in a much better mood than when he entered.
As soon as the doors close again, Bruce sinks into his chair with a deep sigh. Dick knows something is awry. He’ll get Barbara, perhaps his friends on the Titans, and definitely Jason whenever he finds out, to solve the mystery for Bruce. He has faith in them. He taught Dick everything that he knows, and Dick is plenty innovative on his own. If nothing else, his establishment as Nightwing has proven that he can roll with the best of the best. Bruce is unbearably proud of his kid. Now he just hopes it is enough.
Bruce is nearly certain he did nothing to imply that the fae is not human. Perhaps he implied that the fae was “acquired,” as Dick put it, through magical means, but that by no means implies that the fae itself is not human. It isn’t, of course, but that is for Dick to find out through no suggestion or help on Bruce’s part.
He knows that Dick will agree with his decision to bargain their safety for Jason’s safe return. The only person he suspects might disagree is Jason himself. Already he can picture Jason lecturing him if and when he finds out: accusing Bruce of doing it for himself, of being unbearably selfish, of forcing Jason to bear a responsibility he never asked for. And Bruce will bear it all because it’s all true. He saw a way to have his son back without having to break his moral code and he seized it. Jason can call it self-serving and hate Bruce all he wants, because Bruce would do it again in a heartbeat.
-
“So, Timmy,” Dick says casually, “are you a metahuman or what?”
Barbara, Dick and Tim are in the middle of a near-empty Staples when Dick pops out with his invasive question. They’re shopping for school supplies, since come fall Tim will need to go to school. Bruce has registered him, through a combination of fake and real forms, for Gotham Academy. Tim’s memories of school were his first to go from Before, when he was purely human. Needless to say he’s not looking forward to school again. But he’ll be going with Jason, and maybe they can talk about it even though they’ll be three grades apart. He’ll get to know kids his age who will learn his name and never think twice about using it. Anything that makes Tim more human is a good thing, in his book.
“Dick, for the love of God,” Barbara groans. She casts a quick look around the Staples. Luckily, no one is around to hear.
Sometimes she wonders how she got caught up in not one but two school shopping trips for Dick’s little brothers. No less than eight employees and customers at the various stores they’ve stopped at have given them strange looks, no doubt thinking that Dick and Barbara are a tragically young couple to have a kid Tim’s age. She isn’t sure who would be most embarrassed if she corrected them, so she said nothing.
The truth, that Barbara is a freshman in college taking her high school boyfriend’s new kid brother shopping, potentially sounds stranger. Add in the part where they’re trying to acclimate the kid to human society, and Barbara’s certain she’d be kicked out of the store.
“What?” Dick protests. “I have a deal with B. C’mon Timmy, you don’t want your favorite big brother to lose to the big bad B, do you?”
“A deal?” Tim warbles.
“Yeah,” Dick persists doggedly. He still hasn’t figured out what triggers Tim, so for now he continues until Tim comes to some internal resolution. “He doesn’t think I can figure it out. C’mon Tim, my ego’s on the line here.”
Tim stares at the blue spiral notebook in his hands. Both Dick and Barbara lean in, anticipatory, as he turns it over and over. Despite Barbara’s reservations about Dick’s timing and bluntness, she’s also desperately curious about where the new kid comes from. All he has been able to tell her so far is that Bruce seems to have sworn some kind of oath not to talk about the details.
“You don’t have to tell us,” Barbara adds, only a little reluctantly. “But you know, no matter if you’re an alien or a cyborg or a sentient piece of mud, you’re a part of the family, right?” She gestures in a wide circle, to encapsulate the absurdity of their situation.
Two first-year college students, arms full of Ticonderoga pencils, notebooks, binders, rulers, calculators and the like, all for a not-quite-human twelve-year-old boy. Jason insisted on getting his own trip, which really made Barbara feel like she and Dick really were parents with two kids competing to be the favorite. Jason also strong-armed Barbara into agreeing to a Dragon Ball Z marathon next weekend. She really doesn’t know how she’ll explain that one to her new college friends. They already think she’s a bit strange for still dating her high school boyfriend.
“I’m not…I made a bargain,” Tim whispers. He trusts them, even though he grips that notebook so tightly it folds over. Weeks ago he gave Dick and Jason his true name and they have never used it to make him do something he doesn’t want to do. Surely, if he can trust them not to use his name against him, he can trust them with this.
“With who?” Barbara asks immediately.
“About…?” Dick prompts at the same time.
Tim ponders over the phrasing until words lose their meaning. There really is no safe way to explain that he made a deal with the Unseelie Queen to secure their undying affection in exchange for his freedom, is there? No matter how he says it, he’ll be outed as the emotionally manipulative little infiltrator that he is. In the end, all Tim can do is shake his head. “If I win my bargain I’ll be fully human,” he evades.
“Oookay.” Dick attempts to fit this piece of information into his catalogue of Timmy facts. So far it includes “used to be Timothy Drake, age nine” and “my parents handed me over as part of a mysterious deal” and “I’m not fully human (anymore???)” and “Bruce can’t talk about where he found me” and now “I made a bargain with my own humanity.” It’s not making any goddamn sense. Dick has some amount of pride in his skills as a detective, and Tim’s situation is pretty thoroughly destroying it. The only through-line he’s found is an awful lot of bargains and deals. Which perhaps explains Tim’s overreaction to Dick saying he made a deal. Whoops.
“But you know,” Barbara jumps in again, “you don’t have to be fully hu–”
“I want to be,” Tim cries. “I want it back. I will be–”
Someone clears their throat. At the end of the notebooks aisle, a Staples employee points at the analog clock on the western wall. It’s rather unhelpful as a visual signal, since only Barbara can read it.
“It’s almost closing time,” the employee explains delicately. They look anywhere but Tim’s teary face or Barbara and Dick holding hands.
-
“Mr. Wayne,” Tim says bravely, “can we talk, sir?”
School starts in a couple of weeks. Tim is running out of summer, but he has Alfred, Dick, Jason and Barbara firmly on his side. Last week Jason taught him how to make frijoles and tried to get him to read Jane Austen. Neither attempt succeeded, but the intent was there. Dick tried to teach him parkour, which went much better. His one remaining problem is that Batman still does not want him at all.
So he corners Batman when the man’s alone with one solid plan of action, a heart full of hope, and two shaking knees.
Batman stares down at him suspiciously. “Yes.”
He turns away abruptly and Tim hurries to keep up with his long strides. After so long in the human realm, he no longer have the floatiness they once did. By the time Batman makes it to his office, Tim is panting. His feet hurt. He worries and waits in the corner as Batman shuts the doors, shutters the windows, and manually activates enough security measures to shock Harry Houdini. Is he in trouble? He hasn’t even done anything yet.
Wordlessly, Batman gestures for him to take a seat. “What is it.”
Tim collapses into the chair. His feet dangle half a foot in the air. “I would like to make a deal.”
“No.”
“Please, Mr. Wayne.” Tim can’t cry yet, he hasn’t made his proposal. “I–I think–”
“I said no–”
“I’m offering information!” Tim says quickly. His hands, driven to distraction by all his stress, twist into pattern after pattern in his lap. “I can tell you what I can do and how the fae work.”
Batman is a regular human who operates in a world of gods and monsters. He works with the most powerful superheroes. He leads the best of the best. In order to do that he plans. He needs information, and there’s only one area where Tim knows more than him.
Batman’s eyes narrow. “And what do you want in return?”
The same love and affection he gives so freely to Dick and Jason. But Tim knows better than to ask for that. That’s why he’s proposing this deal in the first place. He can’t trick Batman into loving him the same way he tricked the others, but maybe he can offer his services. Maybe if Tim is useful enough, good enough, that will be enough for Tim to get to stay. So instead:
“A Nikon D850,” Tim answers. “It’s a camera, sir. For nighttime photography.”
For a tortuously long moment, Batman just stares at him with that dark, unreadable expression. There isn’t a hint of emotion, much less affection, in his eyes. Tim’s hands flap around loudly. He jams them under his thighs to quiet them.
“Done,” Batman says tonelessly. “Now tell me everything you know. And,” he adds, voice dropping to a growl, “I will know if you’re lying.”
Despite his promises to himself, something hot stings Tim’s eyes and tickles the back of his throat. He’s not sure if Batman has magic powers, but he doesn’t doubt the threat for a second.
“Right,” Tim acknowledges, only a half-step from crying. “Well. I was born Tim Drake. When–”
“I know you purport to be Timothy Drake.”
Tim’s shoulders hitch. Batman’s interruption cuts, paper-cut-like, into his thin skin. One wrong word from flinching, one quarter step from crying.
Batman pins him to the chair with cold eyes. “I already said I will know if you’re lying. Try again.”
It’s so unfair that Tim almost bursts into tears just from frustration. Just because his parents sold away his right to be Timothy Drake doesn’t mean that he wasn’t born human. But he knows better than to argue with Batman, so he takes his second chance and changes the subject.
“Yessir. Sorry, sir. I can teach you how to find fairy circles,” Tim offers. “The trick is not to look for something out of place. ‘One may enter the realm of the fae wherever the–”
“–Wherever the wild and mundane meet,” Batman interrupts, voice so flat he sounds bored. Unspoken is the order: tell me something I don’t already know.
Tim had forgotten that Batman journeyed to the fae realm by himself. It isn’t as though he stumbled upon a fairy circle by accident and decided to strike up a deal with the Unseelie Queen. He must have researched how to locate fairy circles by himself. He’s Batman. What in the world can Tim possibly tell him that he doesn’t already know?
“I can tell you about the abilities of the fae in the human realm,” Tim suggests, nearly despairing. “We can commune with plants. We are more in tune with the weather. We can, um, float a little. Sometimes. I think I can also make people not notice me. It’s like a veil on people’s senses. Like I’m always in their per-fory–per-fi-fory–periphery vision–”
“You can also make plants grow a little fast,” Batman interrupts for the third time. “You sometimes cause video footage of you to corrupt. You attract the loyalty of animals, both wild and domesticated.” His lip curls. “You are a superb actor.”
Somehow Tim doesn’t feel complimented. The underlying dark tone to Batman’s observations is I told you I was watching you. But it is the lip curl, a small, nearly intangible action, that finally breaks Tim, not a word or even anything serious. Just the slight hint of a sneer on Batman’s face even though the Unseelie Queen has accustomed Tim to far worse condescension and Batman isn’t even wrong to judge him. Hasn’t he tricked the rest of Batman’s family into loving him with his acting?
Tim squeezes his eyes shut. A tear escapes and leaves a cold trail on his cheek as it snakes its way to his chin. He fights the urge to vomit. “I can teach you how to use a fae’s true name against them,” he whispers.
When he opens his eyes, Batman is watching him cry with a blank, apathetic face.
“To test that,” Mr. Wayne says slowly, “I’ll need to use yours.”
All at once Tim is struck by the childish desire to close his eyes and wish himself into a world where Batman never looks at him like a dangerous, evil, life-sucking parasite. Wants so dearly to deny the existence of this world where he must replace the Unseelie Queen with his hero. But Batman demands it must be so. Declares that Tim has no other use. So Tim trembles and shakes and falls apart in that oversized lacquer chair until he’s cried his little heart out, but in the end he gives Batman what he wants.
“I understand, sir,” Tim says miserably.
It won’t be forever, Tim vows to himself. If Mr. Wayne accepts him, if Tim is allowed to stay, then one day he will be fully human again. One day his name will hold no power over him than it would over any human. Mr. Wayne doesn’t want to use it like the Unseelie Queen does anyways, he just wants to verify Tim’s honesty, which is fair because Tim has done nothing but lie since arriving to Wayne Manor.
Even though it feels awfully cruel.
Tim scrambles through his memories to recall how it was explained to him. “A fae is under the thrall of whomsoever can speak their true name.” Then he struggles to verbalize what it actually feels like to have your name used against you. “But the effects–they’re temporary. It’s like…a rubber band. You can pull it into a shape but the moment you stop it instantly snaps back. And if you use it again and again and again then it works less and less and less.”
“Fae names suffer from diminishing returns.” Mr. Wayne looks just the tiniest bit amused. At least he’s not interrupting Tim this time.
Tim has no idea what that means, but he nods anyways. “And it is easier to command that which is easily given. The…effect is…quicker.”
When the Unseelie Queen says dance then Tim is swaying before his body can communicate with his head, but when she says won’t you stay with me forever, Timothy Jackson Drake? then Tim digs his heels in and refuses. You can be the prince of my Unseelie Court, little one. Drink the blood of stars, dance with the mad and the lost, and serve at my feet forevermore. Tim shudders and shoves the memory away firmly. It won’t ever come true. Tim won’t let it.
Tim straightens to the fullest height offered by the giant chair, acting for all the world as if he is making a business deal with an equal. “You may use Timothy Drake,” he offers primly. “Though it doesn’t work very well on me.”
“But of course.” Bruce assumes that this is because Timothy Drake is the assumed name of a fae who refuses to give Bruce its true name. He cannot say he blames it. “Stand up, Timothy Drake.”
Tim pushes the chair back and stands. He blinks. Feeling return to his legs as pinpricks of sensations. He sits back down.
For the first time, Mr. Wayne’s gaze breaks away from Tim. He casts about his office in search of a command which Tim would be reluctant to do yet doesn’t break Batman’s moral code. Tim, who had begun to recover his nerve, starts to tremble again. Mr. Wayne received the information of fae’s true names positively, so Tim became more confident. Now he worries that Mr. Wayne received it too positively. Where is his line? What wouldn’t he order Tim to do, if he could?
“Come here, Timothy Drake,” Mr. Wayne commands finally.
Tim’s legs move of their own accord again. They carry him around Mr. Wayne desk until he stands before the man. He may be a liar but he is not so good that naked terror isn’t written plainly on his face. He keeps his hands behind his back and lets them twist around and around out of sight.
“Now,” Mr. Wayne says. “Timothy Drake. Take a step to the left. Right. Spin. Sit. Up. Right. Left. Left. Jump. Down.”
The rapid volley of commands ends with Tim flat on his stomach, chin stinging fiercely from its introduction to the floor. His body interpreted down as fall on your face for him. He gets back to his feet unsteadily and waits for more.
“Take this batarang.” Mr. Wayne pulls it out of one of the desk’s many secret compartments. “Timothy Drake. Cut my hand.”
Tim lurches, batarang between his fingers, for one heart-stopping moment, towards Mr. Wayne’s outstretched hand before he gets himself back under control. Batman watches just as unemotionally as before as the batarang nears his unprotected palm, as Tim wars with himself.
“I don’t want to,” Tim pleads. “Please, Mr. Wayne.” His hand shakes violently. “Please don’t make me.”
“Stop.”
The batarang clatters to the floor. Mr. Wayne leans back in his chair, unaffected. Tim staggers back to his own chair, cheeks stained anew with hot tears.
“It feels like someone altering who you are.” Tim offers this truth in a last, desperate appeal to make Mr. Wayne understand. “It’s like someone possessing you. I know it’s not very powerful, Mr. Wayne, but–it hurts. It–”
Mr. Wayne raises a hand. “Enough.” His voice is just as gravely as before, but it feels a little more gentle. “I believe you.”
The next morning, a Nikon D850 appears in Tim’s bedroom. He leaves it on his nightstand. In a week he’ll pick it up and head to the streets where he first found Batman and Robin. But for now, the sight fills him with dread.

ERIN i cannot believe you are a fan of twisted wonderland too, you have feed me once again with your beautiful art thank you so much 🛐🛐
But who are your favorite tw characters?? And how do you think other batfam members would do in yuu's situation?
i love Twisted Wonderland!! in a sense that I ignore the Mickey Mouse plotline because what even is going on there LMFAO
It's so hard to choose a fav cause they're all so stinky and I adore the idiots so much,,, but my rankings are: Ace and Deuce for 1st place, Grim for second, Ruggie for third, Epel and Kalim for fourth, and Malleus for fifth. And this is if I HAVE to choose. the rest of them are so silly that I can not be contained. I need to torment Azul and shake him around <3
Tim would thrive the MOST in Twisted Wonderland, but we know how I feel about that by now. As for the others... I'm assuming we're going with them but when they were the same age as the first years in Twisted Wonderland (cause it's a school). In all of these scenarios, Crowley does not stand a chance. Also they all steal Grim.
Bruce isn't Batman yet when he's that young, but he's certainly just as crazy as he'll be in his twenties-fourties, maybe even MORE so because he doesn't have the experience of training yet. After figuring out that this isn't a hallucination or weird altered state that he's in (coma, spell, etc), he'd be an unbending force that gives them all a run for their money. He's incredibly smart and I doubt he'd be willing to put up with any bullshit that gets pulled. He would manage to get himself home and refuse to make any friends... but he would probably grow soft for Grim, Ace, and Deuce. Grim because Yuu takes care of Grim, and we all know how Bruce is about adoption. Same for Ace and Deuce, they're so stupid that Bruce would end up worrying about them 24/7. His paranoia about keeping them safe would prevent Azul getting a contract with them, etc etc.
Dick when he was Robin? He's terrorizing Crowley the entire time, with a smile on his face. He's so strong willed that anytime Crowley tries to put him into a situation where Crowley gets to fake being nice and magnanimous without actually helping, Dick calls him out and forces him into actually doing something, lest everyone see how he really is. (They know already but Crowley would try to save face.) He'd make friends with everyone- he'd tame Grim pretty fast and probably see it as an exercise to teach him how to be more patient. Honestly, Grim's temperament would remind Dick of himself when he was just starting off as Robin. It'd be like having a little brother and when Dick isn't stuck angsting about some shit Bruce pulled when being emotionally stunted, he's a good big brother. He'd make friends, but he wouldn't tell them anything about himself, keeping it close to his chest. Secret identities, and all that. Dick would also get himself home very fast, not willing to make B wait long. Plus he really missed Alfred.
He would try to steal Grim though. He would probably succeed, actually. All he'd have to do is tell Grim about the world he's from and how he knows magic users far beyond the level of the teachers at this school who could use a new student, and Grim would likely accept.
For Jason, when he was Robin, he was the sunshine kid. This would be after he's mellowed out with Bruce, when he's started to accept his life with B and Alfred, and started to grow into his own as Robin. They would all mistake his willingness to help as weakness, but Jason can be just as stubborn and clever as any other Robin. It's in their blood. He wouldn't be willing to let them talk down to him- he's used to people looking down on him because of where he comes from. The big fancy schools at home think he's trash from the bad parts of Gotham, and here isn't really any different. They think he can't get by without magic? Boy, will Jason sure show them. He's Robin.
I have a feeling that this, combined with Jason's love of school, would mean that Jason gets a little sidetracked with learning about this world, magic, and history, etc. He and Grim butt heads a lot, but Jason would get protective over him. Jason took care of the kids younger than him before, and his Robin is known for the comfort and kindness he shows.
He, too, would not make B wait a long time for him to come back. He's not as much of a detective as Batman or Nightwing, but he's clever enough to get himself home because of what he's learned. He would also steal Grim. In this scenario, it'd been a long time since anyone had cared about Grim the way Jason does about him. He'd come even without the speech about magic in Jason's world.
Tim... is the only Robin who'd make Batman wait. Not even out of a sense of being an ass about it, Tim would just thrive in Twisted Wonderland. He'd play up a role of being a "damsel in distress" or being silly and carefree and clumsy, etc etc. All the while Tim has been picking apart this mystery in front of him and he's got it all figured out. He's having a blast. It's Batman that comes to get him, and Tim probably wasn't expecting that, but, hey! Batman came to get him!
Damian. Holy shit is he a force to be reckoned with. He gets under everyone's skins, he doesn't bother hiding in plain sight, he demands to be treated the way he deserves. He's the son of Talia al Ghul and Bruce fucking Wayne. You try to put him in Ramshackle and he'll gut you with his sword for the disrespect. I think it'd be funny if Damian was like "this distasteful chandelier was only worth a billion of your currency?" and ADeuce try to kill him. Eventually they get along in the most hilarious way, but they're constantly fighting. Damian takes charge of their group, naturally, but he finds himself on equal footing with ADeuce at some point because they're from Twisted Wonderland and help him fill in the gaps of his knowledge. He's also studious (the PhD thing) and Deuce would ask for his help. Ace would get roped into it.
The only one that he gets along with? Grim. Because he's a cat with fire powers. Damian would think he's so fucking cool, he basically has a fuzzy little dragon. That can fit in his bed and cuddle with him and can talk. Come on. What 14 year old like Damian wouldn't think that's the sickest shit ever? He'd demand only the best for Grim, but would also easily start shaping him up to be a better mage. No, not better- the best. Damian would understand Grim's desire to find his legacy.
And, like, here's the thing. Even with all of that... Damian is a very empathetic kid. If he's about freshman year-aged, he'd be, what, 14? I think? That's after he started letting himself be more empathetic. After he lost his dad for a year and learned to be Robin because of Dick. Literally no one would expect Damian to be understanding or listen to the prefects' insecurities or hurt, nor willing to talk to them about it. But he does. He also hands their asses to them when they fight, but while that's happening, Damian is talking to them.
He steals Grim whether he wants to or not. But Grim does want to go with him.
This got WAYYY longer than I expected it to but this got me to thinking and we know I love to yap. I'd add Stephanie, Duke, Cass, Babs, etc, but I don't want this to get too long.

this is not a ship post, but something that frustrates me a lot in fanon concerning Jason Todd that attempts to soften Jason's return to Gotham for the sake of found family domesticity or easy hurt/comfort or just sliding him into the Batfam sooner, is they all seem to fundamentally misunderstand Jason.
because there seem to be a lot of fandom popular concepts of Jason coming home much sooner and just not having his whole Under The Red Hood arc. which in theory is fine and i can see the want to simplify canon to make room for your lighthearted more fluff-leaning concepts. but in everyone without fail, the way they address the clown-shaped elephant in the room is by having some throwaway line that "oh Jason quietly kills the Joker and moves on".
when the Joker being dead or alive is not the *point*. if by some chance accident, the Joker had died prior to Jason's return, whether by ridiculous freak accident, getting whacked by a fellow villain, hell even someone actually doing so to avenge Jason, it *would not* satiate Jason's anger. because Jason's end goal in UtRH is not to simply kill the Joker: it is to make *Bruce* kill the Joker. Jason's anger is directed to the idea that to Jason, if Bruce truly loved Jason, he would've killed the Joker. that is love, for Jason. compromising your personal values for love and not letting someone go unavenged. when Jason was Robin, almost every angry or misguided thing he did was born of love. he wanted to kill/hurt Two-Face because he believed Dent killed his father. he was so angry at Felipe because an innocent woman was dead due to that man's actions. he wanted to save his mother in a situation he knew he shouldn't be in because he loved her. his anger, his violence, it is driven by love and feelings of righting wrongs. that is how he thinks wrongs *should* be righted. that is how you avenge and *love* someone.
because so long as Jason's return to Gotham doesn't end in Bruce killing the Joker (which, it never will bc Bruce is Bruce), Jason will never forgive Bruce. you cannot wave away the layers of hurt and complicated trauma by killing Joker offscreen. because Jason will still be angry that Bruce didn't avenge him. in his eyes, that means Bruce did not love him enough. he was not truly loved by Bruce the way he loved Bruce. bc Bruce was Jason's whole *world*. prior to being taken in, Dick and Tim, they had support systems. they had loved ones. they knew what stability and healthy family love looked like. Jason *didn't*. and that's not to say that Catherine Todd did not love him with her whole heart and thus he loved her, but it certainly wasn't a stable and safe support system for Jason to grow up in. Bruce was Jason's first real sense of a stable, healthy life. and so of course Jason poured everything into Bruce and loved Bruce so devoutly. Bruce was his world. like he says, if it had been Bruce, Jason would've stopped at nothing.
so his betrayal is rooted in that he was not avenged, not that Joker is alive. so long as the Joker does not die by Bruce's hands, it will never be enough for Jason. (in this era, at least.) notably, this is also why i don't think it would change a thing if Jason knew the whole "oh Bruce wanted to kill the Joker but Superman stopped him" tidbit that fanon has really latched onto as a way to pacify Jason's anger toward Bruce. Jason knowing that wouldn't change a thing, in my opinion. because Jason knows Bruce. and a tenant of Bruce's character is that he grapples with murder *every day*. the whole point is how *easy* it would be for him. he is a human weapon, trained by killers, trained to be deadly. he is the greatest strategist to exist. he knows he could kill someone and get away with it. *no* trace, no proof, nothing. and he knows he *wants* to. wants to kill the Joker, Joe Chill, anyone who's hurt him that viscerally.
but he *doesn't*. that's the point. Bruce wakes up every day with that question on his mind, and every day the answer is the same. Bruce's morality is not a decision he made in an alleyway when his parents died, it's a decision he continues to make every day and he *must* continue to make in order to remain who he is. Jason is quite familiar with the fact that Bruce grapples with this daily. i do not think it surprised nor fazed Jason to know that Bruce did *consider* killing the Joker. that he wanted to. maybe even planned to. but a consideration, a want, a plan, is just a thought. it's nothing substantial, and substance is everything to Jason. at the end of the day, Bruce didn't. he was talked down by *Clark* of all people with an excuse of diplomatic immunity, as if Jason and Bruce don't both know that Bruce could've *easily* found a way to make it look like an accident or some other loophole. because he's Batman. there's always a loophole. he always finds a way when he actually intends to. but he never actually intended to kill the Joker. so he didn't. and Jason would know that there was never an intent. it's an interesting piece of fodder to add to the nuance of Jason and Bruce, but honestly, i think it'd make Jason angrier to have that excuse thrown in his face. as if Bruce hasn't beaten Clark half a dozen times by now. it's a flimsy nonsense excuse that Jason would rip to shreds.
so while yes, i understand the wish for easy lighthearted fanfic that doesn't have to deal with the nuances of canon, i think that Jason's character will always be so deeply robbed and altered if you try to fix his thirst for vengeance with an off-page killing of Joker at Jason's hands. it was never the point. the point was that -in his own eyes- he wasn't loved enough for Bruce to make an acception. he realized that not even his *death* would come before Bruce's Mission. Jason truly believed that Bruce loved him and held him as the most important thing in the world, and now he has proof that Bruce didn't. because the Mission mattered more.
i'm not saying i have a solution to this conundrum if you're attempting to solve it for fanfic/fanon, nor am i even saying it's a bad thing it exists. i just think it becoming overwhelmingly common has led to misunderstandings surrounding Jason's motivations and feelings about this arc and it's an unsatisfying solution that only seeks to pacify Jason's rage and his trauma responses for the sake of found family-ification.
#necrotic festerings#jason todd#fandom meta#idk man this isn't too serious it's really just me noticing this becoming a dominate thing#also this post isn't a subtweet at literally anyone specifically#it's a commentary on a trend as a whole#so no one think i'm like. being shady pls.#and if you write jason killing the joker himself during this era that is okay and it's valid#i just don't want the fandom largely treating it as in character#but ooc fanfic is allowed to exist! that's valid yk!#also i once again wanna reiterate all of this is commentary on *this era*#this is a pre-flashpoint meta.#jason's realtionship to his trauma *wildly* changed in both new-52 and rebirth so yeah. he's at a point he's “moved on”#and either seeks to kill joker himself or seeks to just let go of the whole thing#depending on the arc#(but if i get into that then i get into my feelings on how jason has had no consistent characterization in the past decade. so.)#(that's a can of worms we're not opening here it will make some ppl mad and i'm not dealing with it.)#is this how i start writing serious character metas and not unhinged shippy ones. idk#i've got others in my head but#i fear the discourse#if the discourse on this post gets bad i will turn off replies and reblogs idc#this is me testing the waters. ig.#also if a single person tries to argue about tim not having a loving family i will bite you /lh#yes he did. the drakes make not have done the *best* job! i'm not arguing that.#but they loved him and he had a support system.

Gotham City can be a terrible place to live but at least it has a nice skate park. It wasn’t always that way but ever since Bruce Wayne started his free space repair program all kinds of free activities for city kids had opened up. In Tim Drake’s opinion, the skate park was the best. Conveniently placed near Gotham Academy AND in the direction of Tim’s house? It was perfect. The best part? Sometimes, Jason Todd showed up with his older brother. What’s cooler than one Robin? Two!
Not that either boy knew Tim existed, of course. Tim Drake was fantastic at getting peoples eyes to glance right over him. Janet Drake had trained him to become invisible, after all. But really, it was too cool to watch. if a little funny at times. Dick Grayson was a wonder in the air, but finding your balance of skateboard is a bit different than finding your balance on a beam. Jason wasn’t much better about it but hearing him laugh at Dick falling on his butt after attempting a kickflip always brought a warm feeling to Tim’s chest.
Sometimes, Tim was tempted to go over and try to teach them, but he always chickened out at the last moment. He settled for helping out the seven year olds who always fell off their scooters. There had been a few times where he picked them up and out of the way right before they could get run over but it was all in a days work.
Tim usually managed to visit the skate park for an hour or two after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the other days he had extracurriculars Or had to be home in time to check in with Mrs. Agnes, the house keeper. Heaven forbid he gets home even a minute too late. Her pointy fingers always left his arm sore when she marched him up to his room.
where was Tim going with this again? Oh yeah, school is finally out and it’s time to visit the skate park. He had debated bringing his camera this morning, but ultimately decided that it wasn’t something he wanted to carry around all day.
He couldn’t help but wonder if he would see Jason and Dick there that day. Usually, they went around every three weeks after school. One of the nicest parts about seen him there though, was a heads up that Nightwing would be out that night. Nightwing was so fun to take pictures of. he was an entertainer after all. His movements fluid and quick. Once, Tim had gotten a picture of him falling from one of the higher buildings in a pose that almost perfectly made it seem like he was flying through the air. Arms spread, feet together, and chest out. A stark contrast to the way he windmilled and gracelessly fell at the skatepark, though Tim was pretty sure he only let himself fall because it made Jason laugh. The ride from school to the skate park wasn’t long, thankfully. It would be such a hassle to have to bike to the skate park and carry his board too. upon arriving to the park, he glanced at who was present that day
The good news, was that Jason was there! Not so cool news, Dick wasn’t. Jason seemed to be in a bad mood either way. Usually, Tim wouldn’t butt in. Usually he would’ve just made sure that Jason got back safe. But… Tim had a bad feeling. He hadn’t seen Robin out with Batman the day before. or the day before the day before that. Tim knew he couldn’t just leave this alone.
“So, where is your older brother?” Tim blurted out as soon as he was next to Jason
Jason blinked, looking mildly shocked before furrowing his brows. “Who’s asking? And why d’ya wanna know?”
“Uh” Tim said unintelligently. “I see you around here a lot and usually you don’t go by yourself.”
Jason stared for a moment, looking conflicted.
”Oh! I’m Tim, Tim Drake. We’re um, we’re neighbors.” Tim’s palms felt sweaty. This was painfully awkward.
“I guess that makes sense. Not that it’s any of your business.” Jason said hesitantly, taking a deep breath and then speaking again. “So, you skateboard?”
“Yeah, I guess, a little” Tim stuttered out. “You never answered my question.” Before clapping both hands over his mouth. he did not mean to say that out loud.
“He’s out of town for the month, ya nosey little shit. He lives in Blühaven.” Jason gave a wry grin. “He’ll be back soon.” he opened his mouth as if to say something else, but closed it again and looked away.
let it be known Tim is just as stupid as he is smart. He knows that once he starts talking, there’s no stop. It’s why he never talked to Jason or Dick before. Despite that, he opened his big, dumb, mouth. “Hey I’ll raise you to that ice cream place around the corner. Whoever loses has to pay.”
Jason grinned maniacally, “Alright short-stack, you’re on!” And then Jason shot off like a blur. Tim yelped out a “Hey! No fair!” before running after Jason.
Tim lost, not that there is really any competition, Jason’s legs were longer anyway.
One Neapolitan bowl and one Superman cone later, (courtesy of Tim’s wallet, of course) Jason and Tim headed back to the skatepark. they wound up wandering around, talking about anything and everything, laughing at the college kids who fell on their faces and the pigeons who attacked some guy for his fries. (The random dude was fine but he seemed creepy anyway so Tim couldn’t bring himself to feel bad.)
One hour turned into two and two turned into four. Soon enough, it got late and it was just about time to head home. The older kids were showing up anyway, and usually it wasn’t a good idea to stick around.
Tim was about to mention this, but when he turned to look at Jason, he paused.
“Not sure why I’m tellin’ ya this. But, you seem to have a good head on your shoulders.” Jason murmured, “I was gonna run away tonight.”
“Oh.” breathed Tim.
“My- I found my bio mom. I’m um- I was, that is, staying with Bruce Wayne.” Jason turned to stare out towards where Tim knew Wayne manor was. ”But, he thinks I did something I didn’t. something I would never do.” Jason swipes furiously at his eyes. “I found my birth certificate. The woman I called my mom all this time was actually my stepmother.” He turns back, making eye contact with Tim, a determined look on his face. “Her name is Sheila Haywood. I was going to fly to Ethiopia to meet her.”
Tim inhales sharply, “Alone?” he asks breathlessly.
“Yeah.” Jason replies guiltily. “I didn’t think Bruce would believe me.”
Tim pauses, thinking it over. “And, how much research have you done on this?”
Jason tenses, “Enough.” he snaps defensively. “I found a way there and back. I have enough to find somewhere to stay for about a week. But, if everything goes well then I should be able to stay with my mom.”
Tim laughs a little, a short exhale through his nose. “Oh no, I know you can take care of yourself. I’m talking about how much you researched into your mom. it would be smart to know why she moved. I don’t think a lot of people move to Ethiopia just for a change of pace. What if she were involved in some kind of-“
“She would never!” Jason exclaimed. “She’s an aid worker there.”
“Okay, I believe you.” Tim reaffirmed “ it was just an example. my point is just that, having all the facts is an important part of every plan.”
Jason relaxed at Tim’s reassurance, “Oh. That makes sense I guess.”
“Maybe I could help!” Tim squeaked out nervously. “ you could come to mine I’ll get my laptop out and we can look into her public records. Maybe we could do a little bit more digging and see if there could’ve been an outside situation.”
Jason considered it for a second, tilting his head back.
“If you sleep over at my house tonight, you don’t have to see Bruce.” Tim added quickly.
Jason whipped his head to look at Tim, nodding vigorously. “Yeah that would be great. Um, maybe we can stop by really quickly though just to tell Alfred and pick up my clothes for tomorrow.”
—>
With Tim’s help, Jason found evidence that Sheila was involved with the Joker. He never went to Ethiopia, he does tell Bruce about his bio mom. Batman goes to investigate it, finds out about the Joker’s plot, and stops it in time. Jason Todd doesn’t die. But he doesn’t see much of Tim anymore either.
Tim Drake saves his favorite Robin. Who knows what would’ve happened had he actually gone to Ethiopia? Especially since the Joker was there. Nothing good obviously. Jason and Tim stay friends for a little while, but don’t stay that way for long, only occasionally seeing each other in the hallways at school. Jason was busy with personal matters anyway, not much time for the skate park. Or for Tim. Eventually, Dick and Jason show up again, bringing Cass, Steph, and Damian along to teach them how to skate. Tim keeps his distance, content to watch.
Sometimes. Sometimes he wishes he could join them. Not that he’d ever say that out loud, of course. It’s the same way with their nightly activities too. It’s selfish. Tim has everything he could ever need. A roof over his head, food in his pantry, and two living parents. Even though they aren’t around. he has his hobby, chasing shadows around Gotham, taking pictures. That’s what Tim was meant for. He wasn’t meant to be a brother, or even a friend.

Dark Matter by mysterycyclone The last thing Peter sees is Tony's horrified, heartbroken expression leaning over him. The guilt in his eyes is almost worse than the burning pain that's taking Peter apart piece by piece. The world starts to go dark.
There's a flash of gold and green. For one moment, he finds himself standing amongst the Guardians and others. And then darkness again. It feels like blinking; an extended period of nothingness that ends as abruptly as it begins. One moment there’s nothing, the next there’s light.
“Easy,” a woman says. Her words are gentle, and carry a slight accent that he can’t place. "I'm called Wonder Woman. What's your name?"

Revenge is a Word I Haven't Yet Defined (I’m not sure I’m worthy of such theatrics) by OliOcelot After the Lazarus Pits and a year of training with the League, Talia sends Jason to Gotham for revenge. Except Jason isn’t as deep as she thinks. The thing is, he expected to see Bruce - Batman - and be livid. He let him die, replaced him. He should be mad.
He isn’t.
In the end, it’s hard to think of yourself as being replaced when you died. So yeah, he’s angry, but he’s not angry enough for revenge. Not like Talia wants him to be.
So he focuses on Red Hood and cleaning up Crime Alley, and scraps any ideas of revenge he had left. They’re unnecessary. Counterproductive, in fact, because now that he’s actually seen Bruce, all he really wants is to go home. Maybe have a conversation or two about how bad Bruce and Dick messed up, but at home.
Instead, he gets caught up in world altering magic from some criminal in over his head, and Jason finds himself tumbling through universes into a New York filled with heroes that he’s never even heard of and a lack of Gotham and Metropolis that can only mean one thing. This isn’t the world he knows.
All he wants is to get home, to make amends, to try again. Too bad none of them know he’s gone. Not that anyone would think to look for a dead boy.

What the Hell?
SUMMARY: You are the current Batgirl after Steff . The Titans have not met you yet, but you know who they are. In this one, Raven has had a crush on Damian for a while.
Masterlist
Prompt List
Part 1 part 2 part 3
Tumblr media
~~~~~~~~Y/N p.o.v.~~~~~~~~~
I was sitting at the Batcomputer waiting for Bruce and the boys to come home and listening to Tim and Damian arguing through the comm in my ear, occasionally one of the others wiuld chip in and make a coment.
I had been benched from going out because I had been sick last week and Damian being the overprotective boyfriend he is did not want me out in the field until he deemed me 100% better, and of caurse Bruce agreed because where do you think Damian got it from.
So here I was whatching the camaras and making sure all my boys were safe, because despite Damian being my boyfriend his brothers were like my own big brothers especially Jason.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~Raven's p.o.v.~~~~~~
We were on our way to the Batcave to get Robin(Damian) because we had a lead on a vilian in Jump City, and we needed his help.
As we got in the cave, there was a girl that we had never seen before sitting in front of the computer.
I was confused by the girl's presance here. I mean Damian has told us about all of his family members. So who the hell was this chick.
~~~~~~~~Y/N p.o.v.~~~~~~~~~
I turned descreatly at hearing others in the cave and saw who I knew to be the Teen Titans, though I had never met them. What? I'm not a Batkid for nothing, I informed the boys that we had company and to get their butts over here.
I whatched them attempt to sneak up on me and I rolled my eyes, pppfftt you can't sneak up on a batkid, nevermind the current Batgirl, I let them think their plan was working, I was  curious as to what they would do.
Suddenly, I feel myself being pulled out of the chair by Ravens magic. I knew what demon magic felt like. After all , I met Ras Al Ghul, and she might only be half demon, but she was still a demon.
I was floated in the air as everybody looked up at me.
"Who are you?" Raven growled at me.
I was about to say something when everyone was distracted by the motercycles coming in. So it's only the birds.
"I would put her down if I were you." I heard Dick say with a slightly colder tone than usual. It was weird to hear the normally happy bird speak in such a cold tone.
Raven looked at me and then to all four of the birds, then back at me, finally letting me down.
I looked at them and then turned to the boys and noticed that Jason was bleeding and I nearly facepalmed as I sighed walking over to him and grabbing his arm. "I leave the computer for not even 5 minutes and you somehow manage to get yourself hurt." I grumble in exasperation. The bugger just smiled at me sheepishly as I patched him up as the others spoke to the Titans.
~~~~~Raven's p.o.v.~~~~~~~~
So this girl, Y/N they said her name was, is Damians girlfriend. I must admit I am slightly jealous I mean I've had a crush on him ever since he joined the team and now he is dating some other girl. All that aside I don't trust her.
~~~~~~~~~Y/N's p.o.v.~~~~~~~
After the Titans left, with Damian saying he would join them sometime tomorrow, we all headed up to bed.
I got into Damians bed beside him, as I do every time I know that Damian is leaving the manor for a while, I snuggle into his chest and soak in all his warmth.
"I love you, Beloved." He said, burying his nose in my hair. I smiled softly."  I love you too, Dami."

Dad Hood - part 10
After a couple hours of screaming and yelling, Tim was very grateful that he put Danny to bed before Jason began his tirade. The kid didn’t need to see his dad and his uncle fighting like this. As he got back to the living room, he wished he’d stayed with Danny.
‘WHAT WERE YOU THINKING, LETTING THAT CLOWN ANYWHERE NEAR MY DANNY!’
Jason was almost as red as his helmet. Tim was worried he’d pop a vein!
‘WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME THE KID’S A META! I WAS SO EXHAUSTED I COULDN’T EVEN THINK STRAIGHT!’
Dick was yelling right back. Seems like Danny made it difficult for him.
‘WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? I GAVE YOU THE NOTEBOOK WITH ALL THE POWERS I KNOW OFF AND EVERYTHING!’
Jason pointed at the black notebook. Tim had a feeling Dick hadn’t read it.
‘YOU SHOULD’VE- wait, you wrote it down?’
Dick was feeling a bit sheepish. He really should’ve read that stupid thing. As Jason was starting another tirade, Tim decided to intervene.
‘GUYS! I know you’re tired and upset, but can you stop yelling? You’re going to wake up Danny!’
Jason and Dick calmed down. Dick apologized for putting Danny in harms way, but he made sure that Danny was ok. The kid had been more upset that he had to leave the cat behind then about what happened. Jason apologized for not being clearer about Danny and his abilities. He thought the book would be enough, but he should’ve told Dick what information was in it. Sitting down on the couch, Dick asked how their investigation went. Did they get some answers?
‘Well, yes and no. It’s complicated. We did find Talia and she was willing to talk to us. Turns out, she did have a kid about 6 years ago. She had him with Jason when he was recovering from his dip in the Lazarus Pit.’
Tim still felt weird about that. Jason had been way too young then, and it didn’t sit well with him.
‘Don’t give me that look. I was totally out of it at the time, I barely remember it!’ Jason misunderstood Tim’s look, thinking he was judging him, instead of Talia.
‘Since he wasn’t Bruce’s kid, she gave him up for adoption so he could have a normal life. She thought he had a good life, but didn’t keep an eye on him. She has no clue how he ended up in Jason’s care.’
Tim saw how surprised Talia had looked that they even knew of the child.
‘So what else did she say? How do Danny’s powers tie in all this?’
Dick was still curious. Surely they had all the answers now, and with he weekend he had he deserved answers!
‘That’s the part that gave us only more questions. She has no clue.’
Tim had been very disappointed that she had no answers. Talia had even gotten angry, suspecting her father of hunting the child down and experimenting on him.
‘And then there’s the age issue.’
Jason sighed. Damian had been aged up by artificial means, but that needed to be tested. Her father had forbidden her from wasting any of Batman's 'sample' on a test, but Talia had been desperate to make sure her Beloved’s son would be safe. That night she seeked Jason out, she hadn’t actually wanted him, but she needed a sample and he was there and still out of it. So the child had been aged up as well. He should look like a 14-year-old now, not 5!
‘So in short, Danny is Talia’s and mine’s kid. But he is far younger than he should be, has powers with no origin and still no clue as to how he got in my appartement!’
Jason was frustrated. He had hoped for answers, but came home with more questions.
‘I’m not even sure it’s the same kid. According to Talia, he had black hair and blue eyes. It might be a result of his powers, but there is a change we’re talking about a completely different kid here.’
Tim was worried. There were so many things that didn’t add up. What if they were getting 2 different kids mixed up?
As the brothers are talking, the bedroom door opens. Danny walks to the couch and crawls up, snuggling up to Jason.
‘Daddy, I can’t sleep. Will you read me a bedtime story?’
Jason pets Danny’s head. He wonders why the kid always has trouble sleeping. Maybe he wasn’t used to sleeping full nights?
‘In a minute, kiddo. Me and your uncles are almost done.’
Dick has an idea. With the amount of powers Danny tormented him with, maybe he could…
‘Hey Danny? Do you know anything about another Danny? With black hair?’
Danny looks up, sleepy. He thinks for a bit, before a ring of light appears. It splits in 2 and travel up and down his body, turning his hair black and eyes blue. His glow disappears and he looks like a normal kid.
‘Like this, uncle?’
The brothers were looking at the now black-haired boy, still snuggled up to Jason in his Martian Manhunter pajamas and his Wonder Woman blanket. At least one mystery was solved rather quickly. Jason rubbed his temple, before asking for the notebook:
Invisibility
Cryokinesis
Flight
Soul-pulling-out-powers???
Destructive scream
Super strength
(Flying) Superspeed
Photokineses
Shields
Doesn't need to breath (as often)?
Color changing (Camouflage? Different form?)
As Jason came to terms with another power, Dick decided it was the perfect time for a poor joke:
‘I mean, at least we know there aren’t 2 Danny’s going around?’
Jason gave Dick a look that said enough. But before he could tell Dick to buzz off, Danny decided to drop another bombshell.
‘But there are 2 of me! Dani is the best!’
The room immediately went silent. The brothers just looked at Danny. Jason gently shook Danny, praying he didn’t just fall asleep on them after that. He needed answers. NOW.
‘Danny, kiddo. What do you mean. Why are there 2 of you?’
Danny was beginning to doze off. He yawned and answered a bit groggily.
‘I was cloned. Dani is my clone. She is so cool. I’m so happy that she exists. Sometimes I wish that he cloned me sooner.’
Tim immediately followed up on that. Who cloned him?
‘Danny, who is this ‘he’? Who cloned you and made the other Danny?’
Danny puts on his thinking face. He still has trouble remembering things. But he knew exactly how to describe the guy.
‘I forgot his name. But he’s a rich, billionaire frootloop with adoption issues and a creepy lair underneath his mansion. He dresses like a vampire and he wants to get with my mom. I hate him.’
Hearing this, Tim and Dick looked up slowly, not wanting to make any sudden movements. Sure enough, Jason’s eyes were no longer blueish. They were glowing full, Lazarus green.
5 minutes later, Jason was calmy going around his appartement, Dick and Tim following in a panic.
‘Jason, please think about this!’
‘I just want to go talk to him.’
Jason was packing his weapons. Dick was trying to convince him to stop doing that, while also trying not to panic.
‘Seriously Jason, we don’t yet have all the info. There might be a good reason for this?’
‘I just want to go talk to him.’
Tim was very glad he had quickly put Danny to bed. The boy didn’t need to see what was going on with his dad.
‘Jason, please stop packing- Is that a bazooka!?!’
‘I just want to talk to him.’
Dick and Tim were at their wits end. They had expected screaming, anger, violence. The calm way that Jason was preparing a murder was unsettling to say the least. Especially since they knew who Jason was going to kill.
‘Dick’s right, Jason. What if it’s a mistake? Maybe it’s someone else-’
‘ARE YOU SERIOUSLY TRYING TO TELL ME THERE ARE 2 OF THAT FUCKER OUT THERE!?!’
Jason was livid. Tim admitted things didn’t seem good, but things had just been too strange. Nothing made sense anymore!
‘Look Jason, think about it. How could Bruce clone Danny? He didn’t even know about him!’
Dick was trying to reason with his brother. He couldn’t let Jason just try and kill their dad.
‘I don’t care how he did it! He knew I had a kid and he didn’t say anything about it! No, not only that, HE CLONED MY KID AND DIDN’T SAY SHIT! Oh, I knew that things had been going too well, I KNEW IT! I knew he didn’t trust me, that’s why he kept it from me! He didn’t trust me with my own kid, and now my kid has DIED AND BEEN REVIVED JUST LIKE ME! IM GOING TO KILL THAT-’
‘JASON!’ Tim actually slapped Jason across the face. ‘I know you’re furious, and you have every right to be! But we have no idea if Bruce really did all that! And before you start, when has ANYTHING about Danny been straight-forward?’
Jason actually put down his weapons, though his eyes didn’t change. Taking advantage of the calm, Tim kept pleading his case.
‘Look Jason. Things are really weird right now, and I admit, it does sound like Bruce did something he shouldn’t have. So, me and Dick are going back to the Manor. Give us a week to get to the bottom of this, ok? In the meantime, you can take Danny to all sorts of places now that he looks like a normal kid. How’s that for a plan?’
Jason calmed down a bit, the green finally receding. He knows Tim is right. He needs more information. And he can’t interrogate Bruce without strangling him right now. He relents:
‘Fine, one week. You investigate the Manor and I’ll try to get more information out of Danny. But if he did know-’
‘Then he’s all yours, Jason. We promise. Just, stay here and we’ll go. Ok? Bye!’
As Dick and Tim rush back to the Manor, they are worried. What the heck had Bruce done?

Propaganda for the Batfamily
"Constantly fighting, and trying to kill each other. Also are fighting the mentally I’ll at 2 in the morning while wearing glorified tights and bat ears"
"*gestures vaguely at every batfam story ever* No but like they’ve got so many issues idk where to start. Jason’s death and all the shit he started post resurrection? Damian straight up trying to kill Tim for while back in the day? Bruce’s questionable and inconsistently written parenting skills? Also they’re all vigilantes which in Gotham means they definitely have issues"
"Thomas and Martha Wayne got murdered and it's all been downhill from there"
"Bruce dresses up as a bat to fight crime and Alfred, failing to stop him, adopts a "well if you're going to do it then at least do it where I can see that you'll be safe" attitude and helps from behind the scenes. Bruce in turn adopts a child called Dick. And then a child called Jason. And then a Cass and a Tim and a Duke. It doesn't really work out with a Steph but she's family anyway. Damian doesn't need adopting because he's Bruce's bio kid that he didn't know existed for ten years. And all of the children are SO determined to fight crime that the combined forces of Bruce and Alfred aren't enough to stop them, and one by one they all become vigilantes (Bruce also adopting Alfred's attitude from before). Most of them die at least once. None of them are good at coping OR communicating OR feelings OR being a member of a functioning family but by god if they aren't trying to help. Sometimes the world, sometimes each other. They usually fare better with the former. Bruce and Dick yell at each other about everything under the sun that parents and eldest children yell at each other about. Jason is angry at Bruce because the Joker is still alive after he killed Jason. Bruce is angry at Jason for killing people. Cass is away from home a lot. Tim takes even worse care of himself than the others (on page). Duke is... actually doing pretty okay if not counting the fact that his parents got jokerised and his new family is This. Damian struggles with not killing people and a rampant animal adoption addiction. They all struggle with abandonment issues. The rest of them struggle for screentime. It's like that one vine with the girl who goes "please god, let me have just one good day" and god answers "oh my god you again? give it a rest buddy" where the family (both as a collective and as individuals) is the girl and DC Comics is god."
1 all of them have tried to kill each other at least once
2 bruce wayne is a kind of shitty dad
3 everyone but bruce and alfred were child soldiers (ish)
4 dick grayson has beefed with multiple 12 year olds after he had already grown up and moved out
5 cannot overemphasize the murders and bodily harm
6 one time bruce got lost in the timestream (comics) and everyone but tim thought he was dead and tim was like “hes alive” and everyone kinda bullied the shit out of him for it
7 one time jason got murdered by a guy and then several years later dick put him in prison down the hall from the guy
8 one time bruce beat the everloving shit out of jason for shooting a guy with a blank
9 another time bruce refused to tell jason about who killed his dad despite knowing full well
10 bruce is the main reason jason died at age 15 in the first place
11 the amount of beatings dick grayson took throughout the 50s and 60s is frankly absurd
12 in the injustice universe damian got dick killed and then bruce screamed at damian for “killing his son” despite damian also being his son. then damian joined the league of super fascists against his dad (who beat him up a lot) and then his dad put him in prison
13 bruces uncle isnt in the batfamily but after bruces traumatic orphaning his uncle did more traumatic stuff to him
"Several attempted murders, several arrests of each other, general disdain and massive fights, love that is destructive to all parties, and an inability to communicate"
"they're a family full of extremely traumatized child soldiers whose primary coping mechanism is vigilante justice. many of them have tried to kill each other multiple times. some of them have died & come back wrong. they try their best and they do care about each other but they also get into big blowout fights a lot. they all came from some form of traumatized background before being taken in. the oldest sibling (Dick) had to be a father to the youngest sibling (Damian) for a not insignificant period of time when the dad (Bruce) disappeared; this was immediately after Damian (Bruce's only biological child) had started living with them after being raised in an assassin cult by his mother for the first like decade of his life. Jason died, came back wrong, was groomed by assassins, became a drug lord, & tried to kill multiple members of his family."
"i don't think i can summarise the 80 years of familial dysfunction. my best is just. Batman is the best parental figure some of these kids have ever had. Batman."
"Take your pick of issues. Dead parents, absent parents, abusive parents, addict parents, distant parents, assassin parents. How many people are in the family? Who knows? Everyone deals with personal issues by dressing up and fighting crime in the most depressing city possible. Bruce may or may not have adopted all the kids/plays favorites."
"Bruce is addicted to adopting kids. Bruce. quit putting children into crime fighting. One of them died like how did you not learn. Dick (the first robin) is a huge ass to the next one that comes along (this is the one that died like. Super graphically and horrifically) because Bruce basically fires him as his son and Dick leaves. The one that died rose from the grave, was kidnapped/manipulated for years and has supernatural anger issues (but rightfully should be angry) tries to kill brother Tim who became robin after him for replacing him. He becomes a drug lord and starts cutting off heads. Uses guns for the bit specifically (really funny) (bruce has trauma with guns from dead parents). Bruce mean to Tim when he first comes, then finds out oh shit I have a bio kid raised by assassins that really thinks he’s epic and tries to kill Tim a bunch. It’s practically tradition for his brothers to try and kill him. I love Damian but damn babe. That’s a lot king. He also genetically got the addiction to adopting but for pets. He’s pulling up with cows and shit and keeping them. Cass is perfect and we love her. Duke has a really funny relationship with Jason, and also does some out of pocket shit in the comics (by that i mean like. Dangerous/crazy stuff but in a good way) Alfred is perpetually exhausted with them, mostly bruce. Bruce is emotionally constipated so bad, like crazy bad. This man cannot communicate and is a bad dad a lot bc of it. But he’s really trying and loves them."

My Dear Friend
Part 5
Part 4
Part 3
Part 2
Part 1
Warning: mention of death, and injury.
—Bruce, Tim and Dick had split up in the night. Bruce decided to see what he could find out about Margaret's first adopted family. He changed out of his batsuit and changed into his business suit. He walked up to the house of Loyd and Kelly Jefferson. It was the perfect example of the middle class dream. Nice white picket fence and all. It was one house of many similar looking ones in a suburb a few miles outside of Gotham city limits. Bruce walked up and knocked. A woman in her 50s answered. She was the picture perfect house maker, white apron and all.
"Hello ma'am I'm sorry to disturb you so late but I was looking into adopting a girl named Margaret Arthur and I  found your name on an old adoption form. I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions?" As soon as the woman heard Margaret's name her eyes hardened. She told him she didn't care who he was; she didn't want to hear anything he had to say about her and slammed the door. Bruce was walking off the steps when a man opened the door. He was bald and looked like any man you'd see working a 9 to 5 in an office building. He asked if he heard him right. If he was asking about little Margie. The man let Bruce in and told him how happy he was to hear someone was wanting to take Margaret in, especially by the Wayne family. The name had meaning even outside Gotham.
The two men laugh and enjoy a talk about their children. Mrs. Jefferson returned with drinks and listened to the two chat. It was killing Bruce. He finally asked why they gave her up after 10 years. They both stiffened when they were forced to remember.
"If you are really interested in adopting her don't let us ruin that." Mrs. Jefferson said wanting to wash her hands of it all.
"Kelly honey" Mr. Jefferson said in a sigh. Bruce pressed the matter and it was Mrs.  Jefferson who broke first.
"Do you like the Omen Mr. Wayne? Because that's what she is." She snapped. A small argument broke out between the married couple. they bickered about how serious some event Bruce wasn't aware of was.
"Please tell me all you can." Bruce asked, sounding almost desperate.
"Well you know about the poor thing's mother. She was a few screws short of a set God rest her soul. I'll never understand how she was legally able to keep a child. Or how she got to husband but according to the case worker she was in and out of state run facilities her whole life. Schizophrenia maybe?" The man asked, looking at his wife who shrugged her shoulders.
"I think she set the fire that burned the house down but no one really knows what started it." She interjected. Bruce nodded
"I understand what got her to you two but what made you give her up?" The couple looked at each other. Then the wife spoke.
The neighbor next door had some kind of accident and Margaret found him right after it happened. The cops think he was cleaning his gun when it misfired. Margaret was home alone. She heard the shot and went over there to check on him. She saw him lifeless in his chair." she stopped speaking as she looked up at him. Her expression was unreadable, maybe it was pity or possibly guilt.
"After that she didn't  act like our little girl. She lashed out. We had a little dachshund at the time and Margaret tried, well she tried-" the man was interrupted by his wife.
"The little bitch put him in the oven! We are lucky I work from home. I got him out before it got too hot. She kept screaming that her stupid imaginary friend who did it. That he wanted to make a hot dog. Seeing that body messed her up. She just wasn't right. She never slept. Her grades were plummeting and forget about her helping around the house. I didn't feel safe! She would stare at me with this blank look."
"Excuse me, I need to get a stiffer drink." Mr. Jefferson said as he got up and walked to the kitchen. It was obvious he was crying. Mrs Jefferson looked at Bruce and leaned forward. She asked if she could tell him something that sounded crazy. And she asked that he not judge her. Bruce agreed and she continued
"After we gave Margaret back I gave birth to a healthy baby boy. I didn't know I was even pregnant till Margaret told me. She also knew the baby wasn't my husband's. I don't know how she knew." She paused to study his face. Bruce encouraged her to keep going. "The man I had an affair with was the neighbor. My husband had no idea. Margaret had no way of knowing we were very careful but somehow she knew. I asked her how and she lied like she always did and said Felix told her. She threatened to tell Loyd about the affair if I didn't tell him. I lost my temper and hit her. That's when her voice changed. I don't know what it was but it wasn't Margaret. I woke up in a hospital bed Mr. Wayne. She's a danger. I know I wasn't in the right but did I deserve this?" She took off her glasses and pulled out a glass eye. "She bashed my head in. I don't remember her doing it but It had to be her. It took 7 surgeries to save my other eye and put my skull back together. I have more metal in me than some cars nowadays." She quickly popped her eye back in as her husband returned. Bruce thanked them for their time and returned to his patrol. Telling no one about what he learned. He knew that would be a conversation for him and Margaret.
When Bruce met back up with Dick and Tim he learned there was a riot at Arkham earlier in the night and that some of the patients broke into the director's office and he didn't survive the encounter. The patients don't remember what happened or what they did to the director. Bruce was allowed to look at the CCTV. All the patients were calm, some were even under sedation until 9pm when they all left their rooms. At the same time the fire alarm was set off opening up all the rooms. No fire was ever found. In the confusion the patients slipped into the offices. It was an odd situation to say the least. Bruce decided to call it a night.—

I felt arms under me. Carrying me somewhere I was scared to open my eyes. What if it was that hag from the TV again. I smelt the familiar smell of Bruce's cologne and I opened my eyes to see the underside of his chin. I relaxed a little and moved, letting him know I was awake.
"Sorry I didn't mean to wake you up. I was trying to move you back to your room." He said as he looked down at me. I realized we were almost to the room I had the nightmare (or whatever that was) in. I tried to sit up in his arms and he adjusted his arms to make it harder.
"No, I don't want to go back there. There was something under the bed."
"I know Jason already told me about the nightmare. It's alright they happen to all of us."
"No you don't understand Bruce it was real. She was in the TV. She had this horrible smile!" I say wiggling more as I try to get loose from his hold.
"Margaret just calm down you don't have to if you're that scared." He said effortlessly keeping his grip no matter how much I tried to get free. I stop moving as he stops in the hall.
"What if I sit in there?" He says looking down at me. I think for a second. If anyone would be able to stop that thing it would be Batman I guess and if I am dreaming then he will be able to see there is nothing and tell me definitively. I nod to him.
"I guess that's okay. Didn't bring a Batarang, did you?"
"No but I think I'll be able to manage." He says with a chuckle. He walks into my room and sets me down on the bed. I crawl to the center of the bed.
"Can you look under there?" I ask as I pull the blanket over me. He smiles and crouches down. He looks for a second then stands up and flips on the bathroom light and looks inside there. He turns back to me and shakes his head.
"Not a thing." He says as he sits down in the big plush chair next to the TV. I nod and get settled in. He pulled out his phone and looked down at it and scrolled slowly as he read something. It took a while but soon I fell asleep.
"Why is he here?" I almost leaped from the bed when I heard him. I had never been so excited to hear his voice. It was light out now and Bruce was fast asleep in the chair. "No I'm serious, why is he sleeping in a chair?" He asked again
"I'm so happy to hear you, Felix. I was so scared." I whisper as I hear him laugh.
"Yeah well I was a little busy."
         "Doing what?"
"Don't worry about it but you're welcome." I wasn't sure what he meant but I wasn't going to question him right now. "So you really missed me so much?"
"Of course I did. There was this lady on the TV. She was taunting me and then she attacked me. Well I think she did."
"Who are you talking to?" A very sleepy sounding Bruce asked. As he sat up in the chair.
"Felix he's back!" I say with a smile.
"Oh good." He says as he stands up and stretches. "I'm going to go shower. I'll see you at breakfast. Are you okay to be alone?" He asked as he stopped at the foot of the bed.
"I am now that Felix is back."
"Well good welcome back Felix." He says as he scratches his side and yarns. He walks out with a wave. I jump out of bed to show Felix the room.
"Look, we have our own bathroom and TV. I'm only a little scared of it." I say with a laugh.
"I thought we weren't staying?" He asked. I settled down and nodded.
"You're right. Let's have breakfast and say goodbye then we can go."
"No trust me Margaret we should go now. He talked to the Jeffersons. He's going to have questions."
"But all that was you!" I shout back at him. I was so upset to have all this brought up again. I shook my head trying to get the image of the body out of my head. And Mrs. Jefferson. Whatever she had to say wasn't going to be nice.
"They will think it was you just like the Jeffersons did. They raised you for 10 years and didn't believe you. You have a snowball's chance in hell of this family believing you. We got to go." I hated it but he was right. I started my way downstairs. It was much easier with Felix directing me. I got to the front door and pulled on the handle. It didn't open and the keypad beeped at me.
"Felix help. What's the code?" I ask as I pull hard on the door. I see the numbers lighting up like he was pressing them.
"Hold on I'm trying." He said. He had tried to guess. Soon it makes an angry beeping sound and a lid closes over the keypad and a little circle opened up. I think it was a retina scanner like from a spy movie. I heard heavier footsteps coming from down the stairs. I turn around and see Jason walking over. My mind raced with excuses but also questions. I was terrified of what he could possibly want.
"Do you really want to go outside? No shoes or coat?" He asked. He wasn't smiling or even looking at me like I was crazy, he was just staring. I look down at my bare feet then back to him before nodding yes. He leaned forward and scanned his eye. The keypad opened back up and he typed in the code. The door unlatched and I opened it. I started to step outside. The sidewalk had been shoveled and the driveway was plowed. The bitter cold snapped at my skin as I started to run across the driveway. I came to a large hill covered in fluffy white snow. I got down on my butt and slid down. I had never been so cold in my life. I gained speed as I slid. I hit a bump and fell on my side making me start to roll down the hill on my side. I thought I was going to be sick. Eventually it stopped but I was covered in a thick coat of snow. I could feel Felix brushing it off me as I got up.
"Maybe we should go back. Your skin is getting really red." My jaw was chattering too much for me to answer but I wasn't going to stop. I felt like this was my only chance. I wasn't sure how far I ran but I started to see big buildings. I couldn't feel my feet or face. The fleece pajamas didn't keep me very warm once they were wet from snow. I found my way into the city. I got strange looks from everyone I passed. I felt someone tug on my arm. It was a lady not much younger than Bruce.
"Oh sweetheart you shouldn't be out in the cold like this." She said as she gently pulled me inside a coffee shop with her. I was shaking and shivering. "Gino get me a tarp or something from the back to warm her up?" She said looking at the old man behind the counter. He quickly went to the back and came back with some kind of packing blanket. They wrapped it around me.
"I'll make her some hot coco or something." Gino said as he started heating up some milk.
"Can you talk? What happened to you?" The lady asked as she tried to dry me off. I warmed up pretty quickly and nod. "Where are your parents? Can I call someone?"
"Tell her you're from Metropolis. Ask her for bus money."
"I got lost. I need to get back to Metropolis. My mom's gonna be worried." I say through shivers.
"Let me call the cops they can-"
"No please! No cops, my dad's in trouble with the law and if they drop me off at home they might try and take him away again." I say pulling it out of thin air.
        "Nice touch."
"Okay okay ummm" She looked around for a second trying to figure out what to do.
"Deb, get her on a bus." Gino said as he pointed to the bus stop outside the shop. She looked down at me unsure then nodded.
"You know your address?" She asked. I nodded quickly. I couldn't believe this was working. Gino hurries and hands her some money from the tip jar than the hot coco. I felt bad but I had to get out of Gotham at any cost. The bus was pulling up so she quickly helped me up and we walked out to the bus. She asked if Metropolis was one of the stops and to her surprise the bus driver said it was so she handed the bus driver the money and helped me on the bus and made sure the packing blanket was around me. She let me take a few sips of the coco before she had to take it. The bus had a strict no drinks rule. She got off the bus and stood at the curb. I sat next to a window and waved at the woman and man as we pulled away. I relaxed into the seat. I wasn't sure how long the ride would be but the bus was heated and I had a horrible thick blanket now.
"Good job. So from Metropolis will go to Central City or even Star city maybe."
"Then what?" I ask, looking at my own reflection in the window.
"Then we lay low, make some money somehow and from there we can do whatever we want No case workers, no shity foster homes, no Arkham, no Wayne family. We will be free." He says as I feel the seat press down next to me. Then I feel his head lay on my shoulder. I almost felt bad. Bruce seemed so nice but if Jason said was true it wasn't going to end well for me. He wasn't going to let me leave and that scared me most of all.
People came and went, the bus made alot of stops but no one said anything or seemed to notice me. Eventually it was the last stop and we were at Metropolis. I got up and hugged the packing blanket around me tighter as I left the bus and felt the cold air again. I coughed and hid my face in the blanket. I walked for a little bit. It was much more windy here but at least the snow wasn't so high. I cut through an alley to get out of the wind. My cough was getting worse.
"Don't tell me you are getting sick."
"Shut up, it's just the air drying my throat." There were two men at the end of the alley. I didn't pay them no mind. I just wanted to find a clean place to sit. Felix moved some cans to the side and pulled over a milk crate for me to sit on. I plopped down and leaned against the wall, closing my eyes for a second. I hear feet approaching so I open them and see the men much closer now.
"What's a kid in such nice PJ's doing out here?" One man asked. I didn't answer.
"Hey, my friend asked you a question." The other said.
"I guess you don't need this then." One said as he pulled at the blanket. I just let it go but Felix didn't. Unfortunately for the man Felix pulled so hard back the man fell forward and almost hit his face against the wall. I wasn't sure if they were on something or just missed the fact it wasn't me who pulled the blanket. The other started to laugh at his friend. I stood up and pulled the blanket with me so Felix wouldn't get aggressive and try to pull the blanket from them again.
        "No one would miss them"
         "No" I say flatly.
"No, what?" One of them asked. I backed away as one took a few steps closer.
"I think my buddy deserves that after what you did." The guy was completely fine. He just stumbled. I looked up at him hoping Felix wouldn't have to do something. My back hit something hard. I figured it was the wall so I stopped moving. The men looked above me. They looked horrified. I thought it was Felix so I didn't say anything.
"Is there a problem here?" A deep voice asked from above me. I turned around and almost screamed in surprise. It was Superman himself.

Prompt 2
G-rated JayDick fluff with children
Warning: While this is mostly G-rated fluff there is talk of infertility so...
Jason had been happily married to Dick Grayson for several years now. They had gone from dating to married within a year and had soon brought their beautiful daughter Irina into the world. Jason had been content with their family size for the better part of three years, but now he can’t help feeling like his family needs a new addition.
As part of a big family it seems wrong to let his daughter be an only child, and the thought of having another baby in their home fills him with such joy that he just has to ask Dick. They don’t talk for long before they agree that the only obstacle in their path is Irina.
While a new addition would be welcome by them, they can’t help but worrying that their daughter won’t feel the same way. So they plan a picnic, make sure to buy her ice cream and then drop the idea on her.
“Irina, how would you feel about a baby brother or sister?” Dick asks as their daughter spoons another bite of strawberry ice cream into her mouth.
“I don’t know. Why would I want one? Do they do anything?” she replies.
Jason stifles a chuckle as he wipes her face free of ice cream.
“A baby doesn’t do much, but when they get older you can play with them. Tim’s my younger brother, and he’s pretty cool isn’t he?” Jason asks.
“I do like uncle Tim, but I don’t know if I want a sibling. What if they’re mean or don’t like me?” she begins pouting and Dick tickles her to distract her.
“Daddy stop! She screams out as she wiggles away. Jason’s quick to scoop her up and bring her close.
“Your sibling is going to love you just like we do. Besides your uncle Damian was mean when he was younger, but he certainly isn’t anymore.”
“Okay, I guess you can give me a sibling, but,” she scrunches up her little face in concentration as she asks “where do you buy one?”
***
After that day in the park he and Dick planned. They painted a nursery, decorating it with furniture and soft items. They made sure Jason went to the doctor to get a meal plan in place and he went of his birth control.
After the first heat they had waited three weeks to buy pregnancy tests and waited. They were disappointed by the five negatives they received but didn’t let it stop them the next heat. By the third heat they had accepted that maybe it wouldn’t happen anytime soon, and were glad they hadn’t told anyone about their plans.
Irina would still ask them about her sibling but as time went on they began wondering if maybe a second child just wasn’t in the cards for them.
“Okay,” Dick said as he joined Jason in bed one night, “I think it’s time we changed tactics.”
Jason raised a brow but didn’t interrupt his mate. “Clearly this isn’t working, so why don’t we just do what Bruce did and adopt?” The idea hadn’t occurred to Jason, but now it grabbed hold of him.
He had loved getting adopted, finally having a safe home and family. The thought that they could provide that for another child made him beam as he let out an emphatic “Yes!”
***
They went through the process, starting with the paperwork and slowly checking every box on their list. By the time the day to meet their potential new child came they were both shaking with nerves. Dick hadn’t slept the night before and Jason was stress baking in hopes of getting all his energy out before the social worker arrived.
The knock on their door has them locking eyes in a panic as Jason quickly scoops Irina out of her room while Dick answers the door. There standing on the other side is Lyn their social worker and behind her a small five year old.
They welcome the pair in, with Jason pushing Irina forward a bit to meet the new child. They had already decided that if their daughter didn’t like someone they wouldn’t be the one, so they had to make sure she didn’t shyly hide behind Jason the whole time.
Lyn thankfully understood their concerns and introduces them without prompting, “Good morning Irina, this is Aiden. Aiden can you say hi please.” The small boy peaks out from behind Lyn’s leg and whispers out a quiet hi. Jason worries he might be too shy for Irina but before his concerns can escalate his little girl is rushing forward with a bright smile to hug the boy.
Aiden accept the hug a bit stiffly but is more than happy to agree to go play in the living room when Irina asks. As they round the couch Jason heads back to the kitchen to plate some cookies while Dick guides Lyn around their house for another safety check.
Jason is pleased to spend the next half hour sitting on the couch sipping lemonade as his daughter makes a friend and the two play with her building blocks. He had thought she might rebel against sharing, since she hadn’t started preschool yet and learned to socialize with other children. It seemed that the older boy was more than able to share though, and managed to get her to do so gracefully.
They stopped to grab cookies, Jason having already asked Lyn about allergies prior to their arrival. And just as Jason is getting comfortable their time is up and Lyn is apologizing as she takes Aiden away.
Irina starts pouting, looking as though she might throw a tantrum but Dick quickly lifts her and soothes her. Dick and Jason are a bit put out as well but know that they don’t need to worry. After all the kid would be back soon enough.
***
A month passes before the pair return, and in anticipation Irina makes them buy her a new toy so she can play with her new friend. They don’t think she really needs the toy cars and the race track/garage combo but they figure they can spoil their daughter every once in a while.
When Aiden arrives this time he seems far less timid and even says hello to Dick and Jason before he’s dragged away to play. This time Jason makes lunch while Dick supervises the kids and Lyn does her inspection. She enters the kitchen and Jason offers her a glass of water. As she sips it he finishes plating lunch for the five of them and sets the table.
“Lunch is ready!” he calls out causing Irina to drop everything and race to the table. Jason lifts her up and settles her in her high chair. Aiden soon joins with Lyn a few paces behind. They sit across from one another, with Aiden beside Irina and Jason at the head of the table. To his right is Aiden and as Dick brings the pitcher of water over he sits across the table, with their daughter to his left.
Lunch is almost over, Dick rising to grab the dishes and begin washing, when Irina asks once more “When are we going to have a baby?”
Lyn freezes, her glasses half way to her mouth, her eyes wide. Jason is not so lucky and valiantly has to fight not to choke on his own drink.
“You’re having a baby?” asks Lyn, clearly befuddled.
Before Jason can answer Irina does “That’s what they said but they’re taking a long time to go find one.”
“Well like we said honey,” Dick comes over with a cheesecake in hand and smoothly saves Jason, “babies take time to get here.”
They thankfully drop the topic and enjoy their desert, but before Lyn leaves Jason clarifies that he is in fact not pregnant. She takes it in stride and reassures him that it wouldn’t be a problem either way, she had just been surprised. They part for another month, but Jason has a feeling that Aiden might soon be joining their little family.
***
It’s been more than half a year since they started working through the adoption process. Jason’s nerves are shot as he wakes at five in the morning, that’s why him losing the contents of his stomach comes as no surprise. Today is the day after all. If everything goes right he’ll be the parent to another child by the end of the month.
He can barely stomach a piece of toast in the morning, but forces himself to eat at least that. He doesn’t want to have to stop for food before going to sign the last papers. A few hours later finds him sitting on the couch eating strawberry ice cream straight from the tub while Dick cuddles him close and their daughter lays curled atop his lap. He can’t believe it’s almost over, that they’ll soon have another child to call their own.
The day Aiden finally comes home to stay Irina is over joyed. She drags him to his room and explains how he can decorate it however he’d like. They go over paint swatches and furniture catalogs and a few hours later they drag their parents shopping.
Most of the things are set to arrive in two days, but they bring home the paint to get started the next day. Since they figured Aiden’s room wouldn’t be ready just yet they had bought an inflatable mattress. They brought all the pillows and blanket from the linen closet to the living room, pushing the coffee table to the side.
Half an hour later they had most of a pillow fort ready to go and had popped popcorn to watch a movie. They had let their kids choose and as they lay cuddled together under blankets, watching some colorful film, Jason can’t help but fall asleep surrounded by his family.
The next morning they eat waffles and paint Aiden’s room, Irina demanding she get to join in despite not being very tall. Dick carries her on his shoulders so she can paint along side him while Aiden covers a wall with Jason’s help.
***
Weeks pass as they adjust to the new presence in their house and Jason starts feeling off. He had noticed his heats had stopped coming at some point but knew it was normal when omegas got stressed. Now that he had settled he was a little worried about his missing heats.
He scheduled an appointment, but due to their schedule conflict Dick couldn’t stay home to watch the kids. Jason brought them along with a bag of toys and essentials and just hoped the appointment went quickly.
An hour later he walks out of the doctor’s office and drives the kids and himself straight to the house. He’s silent on the drive not really answering any of their questions as his mind races. He needs to talk to Dick, needs to tell his alpha what’s happening and can’t focus on anything else.
They get home soon enough, Jason driving safely despite his urgent need to get home. He grabs his bag and lifts both of the kids into his arms to get to the door faster. He rings the bell and is grateful Dick answers it quickly. Before Dick can get a greeting out Jason is gently pushing his way inside to drop the kids off on the couch.
He sets the bag on the floor turns to Dick and says, “We need to talk and I need you to pay attention.”
His mate rushes over looking concerned and Jason spares him any more anxiety but just blurting out “I’m pregnant.”
The room is silent for a moment as Dick’s eyes widen in shock, before two voice cheer from the couch. “Yay, finally!” “Congratulations!”
Jason turns to his kids surprised. “What do you mean?”
“I mean finally, I’ve been waiting for forever to have a baby brother or sister and now you’re finally giving me one. Right?” Irina responds.
“But you already have a sibling honey, you don’t need another.” Dick says looking as confused as Jason feels.
“That’s not the same at all! You said I was getting a baby, Aiden isn’t a baby he’s my big brother, that’s totally different.” she replied, though her sass was a little uncalled for.
Jason supposes they had said it would be a baby and a younger sibling but they thought she knew that they weren’t planning on giving her any more siblings.
On second thought Jason wasn’t going to look this gift horse in the mouth. He was lucky enough to not be dealing with a tantrum and he should enjoy his win. Although…
“What about you Aiden? Aren’t you upset to have a surprise sibling?” Jason asked just to be sure.
“Of course not, Irina’s been telling me you were going to have one since the beginning. If anything I’m just relieved I finally get to meet my new baby brother or sister.”
And with that resolved Jason finally sits down, squeezing between his two kids and feeling overwhelming grateful that they were okay.
“Just to be clear,” Dick says, “I’m also super thrilled with this news, in case that wasn’t clear.” WIth that he joins them, taking Jason’s pot in the middle and plopping him back down on his lap.
Six months later their little family receives two new additions and Jason couldn’t be happier than he was with his not so little family.

oooh i would love to know more about so full of love i could barely eat!!
This was also inspired by another fic! Specifically, a genfic demon au. I loooved the take on incubi, specifically, & the more I thought about it, the more incubus!Jason I wanted.
And THEN I thought, if incubi can sense emotion through touch, wouldn’t it be fun & angsty if Tim avoided touching Jason at all to keep from giving away his massive crush on him?
& then I ended up with part of a one-shot xD
The title is from Hozier’s Work Song, & just felt entirely too appropriate for the premise of the fic~
Have a snippet:
“Jason… I’m not making myself do anything.” Tim’s face softens. “It’s okay. You’re not the person who hurt me anymore. You’ve changed.”
He has. He knows he has. He’s worked hard at it, ever since he woke up one day and realized the one thing he wanted, more than anything, was to go home.
He will never follow Bruce’s rule. He will never stop believing that sometimes, people need to die, and if he ever gets the chance, he’ll put a bullet through Joker’s head without hesitation or second thoughts. But he’s done trying to force Bruce’s hand, and Bruce is done trying to change him. They still fight over Jason’s choices, sometimes, but ultimately; Bruce has learned to live with it. Has said he trusts Jason—has let Jason feel it.
But just because he’s changed doesn’t mean the damage hasn’t been done. They’re never going to be close again. He’s never going to be able to lean on him, like he once did, and he’s never going to trust him fully, to keep him safe.
“It still happened.” Jason can never fully trust Bruce. Tim can never fully trust Jason. Actions have consequences.
“It did. But I’ve forgiven you, Jason.”
Jason wants to believe it. He does. But Tim is a liar, and a good one. He’s seen him lie right to Batman’s face without so much as flinching—and watched Bruce believe him. He still believes him. Hell. If Jason hadn’t known the truth, he probably would have believed him too.
Tim smiles at him, then. It’s just as self-deprecating as Jason’s laugh was, and Jason itches to smooth it away. “The Tower has nothing to do with why I haven’t offered to feed you before. It’s—” He shakes his head. “You might be the one who never wants to touch me again, if anything.”
Jason very much doubts that. To say so out loud, though, would reveal how very badly he does want to touch Tim, and he can’t have that. “Tim…”
“Jason.” Tim meets his gaze. He’s not fiddling with his shirt sleeve anymore. His hands are still. His shoulders are back. His jaw is set. He isn’t going to budge, Jason realizes. Even if Jason convinces him to give it up tonight—which is looking less and less likely—he’ll be back again tomorrow. And the day after. Until Jason gives in, or they go home. Hell, he might keep it up at home, too. Just to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
“Fine,” Jason says shortly. He’s smart enough to realize when the only way out is through. He plops down in his chair, so close to Tim their knees are almost touching. “Give me your hand.”
