Tim: Aren't you Bruce's favorite?
Jason: What? No? Who the hell said that?
Tim: Well..he let's you get away with a lot..
Jason: He also let's the Joker get away with a lot, that doesn't mean shit.
Bruce walking in at that exact moment:
Bruce: Come on..
Jason, ignoring him: Dicks his favorite, but that doesn't mean much either. Look at Dick.
Tim: What's wrong with Dick? He's awesome..
Jason: Walked in on him and he was just standing in his room..silent and staring at nothing, when I called him- his entire face twitched but he didn't even say anything. So..do with that what you will
Tim: What?? Is he still there??
Jason: Dunno..I closed the door and walked back out, that was like 3 hours ago.
Bruce: ...Wait Dick was here??

Was it Worth it?
Pairing: Bruce Wayne(battinson) x fem!reader
Summary: Bruce did something and he is afraid you won’t ever look at him the same.
Warnings: Unfaithfulness, betrayal, harsh words, angst
Word Count: 3.7k
a/n: probably definitely my favorite of the ones I’ve been working on. I kinda wish I made the ending a little different, but I still like it. Should I make another part? Idk, anyways enjoy.
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4
Tumblr media
There is a gentle humming vibration radiating from the floor of Bruce's bat cave. His music is the only thing keeping the room from being dead silent. He's hunched over the table not even sitting in the chair. He looks exhausted, because he is. The tension in the air almost hurts as much as the situation itself. Your chest squeezes in pain and your stomach is dropped farther than you think possible. Bruce, doesn't move. He won't move. He can't look at the mess he made. The mess he got both of you in.
You stand in the middle of the icy cold room. A shiver runs down your spine. Your eyes are wet and puffy. No tears have fallen, and you are going to make sure you keep it that way. At least until you are alone. You won't give him that. Your tears. They're yours, and he no longer has the right to see you in that kind of vulnerability.
Your gaze wanders over the room. It's big. And has a lot of technology. It's dark and it's lonely in a way that reminds you of Bruce. You've been in here before, many times before, but the aura is different, and it's chilling. You can't tell if you're glad or angry. And if you are being honest, if the opportunity to go back and change everything appears, you aren't sure if you would take it or leave it.
"Well," You exhale a regrettable shaky breath. You straighten out your stance. You clear your throat and sniffle in your sadness and disappointment. "I'm going to bed." You turn on your heel towards the elevator.
Your steps are loud involuntarily, and they make Bruce's chest tighten with guilt and an overwhelming sense of self-hatred. His eyes sting from fatigue and emotional pain. His tongue glides over his lip, thinking of how he should approach this, or if he should at all. But he hears your scolding voice in his head. ’Bruce, you need to do something. You have to.’
The echo of your shoes against the concrete ground ends abruptly. You tilt your head up, looking at the ceiling trying to stop the sobs and shaking from taking over. You squeeze your eyes shut, taking in a long breath.
"Bruce," You start while pressing the elevator button. You hear it descending from the floors above. The sound is audibly shaky because of the quiet unspoken tension in the air. Bruce's head turns slightly at the soft sound of your voice.
"Was it worth it?" You're curious, but there is an undertone giving away the true intent of your question. You want him to feel the guilt and feel the same amount of pain and hurt you do.
"No." He whispers the ache in his heart evident in his voice.
“Was she worth it?” Your words are like venom. The elevator door slides open with a ding.
“No. Never. Why would you think that?” Bruce grumbles out, almost insulted. Your jaw tightens at his tone. Why the hell was he insulted? You should be screaming and crying, but you keep your cool for the sake of everyone. For the sake of your marriage. The clashing of your teeth is loud in your head.
“I'm sorry, what?” Your fist tightens at your side. Now you're not just sad, you're pissed. How the fuck is he fixing this but trying to play the victim? He is not allowed to feel insulted, he doesn’t have that privilege.
Bruce doesn’t say anything, realizing the sound of his voice makes you mad. He stinks in on himself, feeling the guilt and the wrongfulness crawling from the pit of his stomach into every fiber of his being. He wants to undo everything, he wants to fall on his knees and beg for your forgiveness. But you need space. And begging will do as much as fucking Selina again. He needs to do something that proves to you he’s sorry and that it won’t happen again. But he’s not even sure he can prove it to you or that it won't happen again. He prays to everything that it won’t.
“Why would I think that?” You mumble to yourself in disbelief. You questionably hum, loudly, comically, mocking him. You laugh bitterly.
Suddenly it hits you. Why were you giving him so much as a thought right now? He doesn’t deserve your patience. He doesn’t deserve every night you waited for him to come home. He doesn’t deserve your constant ‘it’s fine’ even when it wasn’t. He doesn’t deserve the fact that you hadn’t done something drastic yet. But at the same time you knew his heart was good, and he deserves the world. You don’t know anymore. Fuck your indecisiveness.
“I’m too tired to deal with all of this right now. Goodnight Bruce.” You step into the elevator, back to the cave. You push the button without a sound and are off.
The second the doors open again you’re met face to face with Alfred. When he sees your sad and pained expression he is immediately by your side.
“Mrs. Wayne? Are you alright ma’am?” His face is full of concern. And you have to remind yourself to keep it together.
“I’m fine Alfred thank you. I think I’m ready for bed.” You curse how shaky your voice is, because Alfred notices too.
“Of course ma’am. Do you need anything before then?” Alfred is and always has been thoughtful and respectful of others, it was his job of course.
“No. I’m-, I’ll be alright. Thank you, Alfred. You are too good for this world.” He smiles at your compliment and gives a small thank you. Your unsteady breathing makes him worried, but he lets you be. If you needed to talk you would have. So he lets you travel up the stairs and into the master bedroom.
——
Alfred is furious. What has Master Bruce done this time? Alfred practically stomps down to the bat cave. He storms in with fire in his eyes.
Alfred loves you. As if you are his own. You are kind, witty, and an absolute pleasure to have around. You also care about Bruce, and he knew from the second he met you that you were going to stick around even if Master Bruce would be stubborn about it for a while.
When Bruce hears the loud steps, he perks up, hoping it’s you and that he can at least try to apologize. When he hears Alfred’s angry voice roaring throughout the cave his shoulders slump.
“Mater Bruce.” The volume of Alfred’s voice surprises him.
Bruce stays quiet. What did you say? No, he thought, she didn’t say anything. That’s not like her.
“Why have you sent your wife away in such a state? What did you say? What did you do?” Alfred never raises his voice much, but now is one of those rare occasions.
“I didn’t send her off. She left voluntarily,” Bruce responds in a gruff voice.
There is a beat of silence as Alfred gathers his thoughts and anger. Obviously you had left voluntarily. Bruce would never throw you out. Never. So, what had he done to hurt you?
“What did you do?” Alfred repeated in a firm voice. Bruce’s shoulders tighten even more than they already are. Bruce breathes out slowly, trying not to show his emotions, like always.
“I-“ Bruce starts, but his breathing gets shaky, and he stops. It feels like it hurts him just as much, if not more than you. But he would never dare say that out loud, he won’t ever try to make you think your feelings are inferior to his.
“I did something,” Bruce pauses, “And I-,” he pauses again. Alfred is so use to Bruce not sharing that the waiting doesn’t bother him anymore. Alfred lets him think about how to word it.
“I don’t think she will ever look at me the same. I don’t think she will ever forgive me.” Alfred can hear the pain in his words. He feels horrible. He wants to know what he did that was so bad.
“What did you do-“ Alfred cuts himself off when he sees Bruce switch on a screen. It’s one of the recordings he takes when goes out through his contacts. Alfred lets out an audible gasp when he sees her. Selina Kyle.
“You didn’t-“
“I did.” Bruce says bluntly, angry at himself. His eyes wander in a misty haze. Glazed over with regret.
“Master Bruce,” Alfred starts, but he stops mouth agape. As if he can’t put together what he wants to say. Like he doesn’t know himself.
He loves you and he loves Bruce. And Bruce messed up big time. It’s going to be way more, incredibly difficult than usual for Bruce to fix this.
Alfred let Bruce be alone in his thoughts, but when he realizes it will take hours for him to truly have his thoughts straight, he marches down to the cave and demands he go and fix this.
“Go.” Alfred has a serious look on his face. “You can’t just leave her there to cry, Master Bruce.”
“I- I need to think,” Bruce argues but Alfred isn’t having it.
“I will let you know you’ve been ‘thinking’ for almost two hours. You’re done thinking. You need to go and confront the situation head on.” Alfred says sternly.
“No, I can’t,” Bruce says arrogantly.
“I don’t see why you are having such trouble. Facing things head on is the bat's job after all.” Alfred retorts and Bruce stays quiet.
“Now,” Alfred starts, “Go, before I burn your suit and have all the entrance to here,” He gestures to the batcave. “Sealed.”
Bruce narrows his eyes. He knows not to mess with Alfred when he threatens, even if it seems so casually, he is dead serious. Bruce has experienced it firsthand before.
“Get moving Master Bruce, before I drag you up there myself. Don’t forget you taught you everything you know.” Alfred says with a pointed look, before turning on his heel to exit.
—-
You don’t remember a time that you have hurt as much as you do now. After brushing off Alfred successfully, at least for a bit, you moped up to the bedroom, your and Bruce’s bedroom.
After getting inside and shutting the absurdly large doors, you turn your back against the doors. Leaning all of your weight on them. Using them as a source of support. Now, finally, you let go. You let everything you have been hiding behind fall. The strong attitude to face your cheating husband. The tears pour in choked sobs. You slide down to the floor, back still against the big doors.
After a long while of sitting there you got up and got changed. If your life is falling apart your figure you might as well be comfortable.
The tears never really stop, not really. They only slow every once in a while then come back even stronger than before. It’s getting hard to breathe. You can’t even sit on the bed, it smells like him. So you sit on the windowsill, looking out at the streets of Gathom.
You don’t know what to do. It’s not really something they make books, or guides for. Screaming at his face seems like a very appealing opinion right now. Or you could run, just for a bit, take the car you had before you moved in, and he, annoyingly at the time, felt the need to buy you a new car as one of the many welcome gifts. You had told him that you didn’t need anything, but he insisted, he always does. He’s thoughtful in that way. Always giving you things. You love him, and always will love-
Wait. What the fuck? Why the hell are you doing? That loving husband you ‘will always love’ cheated on you. And proceeded to not tell you for almost five months. And you have only been married for a little less than a year. And what happened to taking the car and running? That thought just seemed to slip away.
You want to forgive him but at the same time you want to cry and scream at him for being a dick and hurting you. For all the time you have known Bruce he would never do something like this purposely, at least not from what you’ve seen. If someone asked you yesterday if you trust him and believe him, the answer would be an immediate yes, no questions asked. But now you aren’t sure. He has probably done so many things you don’t know about, and he has just never told you.
The tears start to lessen, but the pain in your chest is still present. You had asked Bruce to put in a cushion on the window seat, and of course, he did. It was soft, sure, but it was always cold and isolated. You sat here when you waited for Bruce to come home from his nightly work. So the seat always reminds you of that lonely feeling. And right now the feeling is amplified.
You just want him to know what you did wrong. What is so bad about you that he has to go find someone else to be intimate with. All you can think about are the thousands of things you could have done wrong.
A soft knock sounds from the door. You can’t tell if you with its Bruce or Alfred. But either way you get up and walk over to the doors of the master bedroom.
You pull the doors open, head hung low towards the ground. You spot black dirty boots standing in front of you. It's Bruce. And somehow the sadness in the pit of your stomach enhances at the sight of the boots.
You squeeze your eyes shut, then push the door close. But something stops the satisfying sound of the door clicking closed. A boot specifically.
A growl grows from deep in your throat.
“Go away,” The boot remains wedged in between the door frame and the door.
“Please?” It's more of a rude demand than a question. But instead of following your request a hand on the other side of the door pushes it open.
“I know you probably don’t want to talk but-“ You cut him off.
“No, I definitely don’t want to talk. That's why I came up here.” You finally look up into his hooded eyes. They’re bloodshot red, but you can’t tell if it's because he was crying or because he is sleep deprived. It's most likely the latter.
Bruce sighs sadly, he hates that he hurt you. He hates how your red puffy eyes and stuffy nose are because of him, because of what he did. He hates himself for letting Selina get to him. He knows it is and always will be his fault, but putting some blame on Selina, which she deserves, takes off some of the weight.
“Can I come in?” He asks, and you reluctantly let him in. Your body is heavy with dread. You don’t know how this will end, and thinking about leaving this room a single woman is horrifying.
Bruce walks to the windowsill you follow close behind, but keeping your distance. “What do you want to talk about?” You ask genuinely. “Are you here to tell me you had an affair with someone else? Someone other than Selina?” It comes out before you can stop it. And your breath hitches. You almost cover your mouth with your hand but stop yourself. After thinking about it alone, you realized that with Bruce, you need to let him speak before you start yelling. It never ends well when you just yell and don’t listen too.
Bruce looks hurt as he looks down at you with a frown. You sigh feeling ashamed for accusing him before he even got to speak.
“Sorry,” You mumble. “You can talk now.”
“Well, I-“ He pauses and sighs, finding it hard to put his thoughts and feelings into words. “Im sorry, and I- I know that most likely means nothing at all, and does nothing. But I just- I need you to know. Im so sorry.” His shoulders fall along with the walls that were previously up when you were down in the cave.
You don’t say anything, you can’t. You can’t say it's okay, because it's not. So you let him continue.
“The night it happened, I wasn't in my right mind.” You scoff, and he understands that it sounds like absolute bull shit. So he re-words it. “I mean, I wasn’t focused, I was stuck somewhere else.” Your sniffle rips at his heart. That sounds stupid too.
“Fuck, I was missing you. And I needed you, but you weren’t there. She was. I regret it and always will.” It still sounds stupid and like bullshit, but he doesn’t care, it’s the truth.
“I wanted to come home early, and I was going to. I was. I was going to come home to you, but Selina- she,” He pauses, his breathing goes ragged. “She stopped me and I didn’t make it home.”
The room is quiet. You're thinking and Bruce is waiting for you to say something, anything. You breathe in slowly.
“So,” You start, “I didn’t do anything wrong?” Your voice cracks as your shoulders fall and you crumble into a million broken pieces.
“What?” He’s genuinely confused, in a soft voice. Why would you think you did something wrong? Bruce can’t figure it out. “Why would you think that?” Tears well up in his eyes as he watches your brave face fall right in front of him.
You laugh as tears roll down your checks. “I- I mean you’ve been distant lately, more than normal. And I guess the only explanation is that- I did something, or I didn’t do something,”
Bruce breathes out a shaky breath, trying to stop his own tears from spilling. “Y/n, you could never do anything wrong. I did the wrong thing. I’ve been distant because of this.” His words come out slowly, more than normal, like he is really trying to make a point. “And I can never make up for what I’ve done, but I need you to know that you’ve never done anything wrong.”
You look down with furrowed brows and tears running down your pink checks. It isn’t your fault. He was just being an insensitive prick, but he said he was thinking about you before it happened. You're stuck. You want to slap him and hug him at the same time. You don’t know what to say or do with what you were just given. Bruce is your husband and the love of your life, but he cheated on you, that’s something intolerable and horrible. You don’t want to walk out of his life, or make him leave yours.
You stand with him like this for what seems like an eternity. Both of you are thinking about what will happen next. Bruce thinks you will up and leave him, he knows you have the right to, but that doesn’t mean it's what he wants, he has to remind himself that this isn’t about him, it's about what he did.
You sharply look up at him and Bruce blinks in surprise at your sudden movements. You huff out an angry breath. Bruce waits for the four treacherous words to fall from your lips. He waits holding his breath.
“I want…”
A divorce. Bruce thinks as his shoulders slump and a tear slips down his check.
“I want a bit of space.” Bruce freezes. What does that mean? “I don’t want a divorce. But I need time to heal, and to gain back everything that you’ve-, ruin-” you pause not want to be straight out rude. But inevitably you decided against being nice. “messed up.” You say in a somewhat steady voice, your arms wrapping around your body to try and comfort you. Bruce knows you were going to say ruined, but he's glad you don’t, it shows that you are willing to help him mend your marriage, it gives him hope.
“Thank you,” he says with a sob almost falling over. “I- Im so sorry, I don’t deserve you. I never have.” He sobs out, finally letting the weight of his screw up show.
“You're right, you don’t.” Bruce's eyes fall to the ground in shame. He tries to compose himself. “But in time, hopefully you will again.” You state bluntly as you try to keep your voice steady and strong, while also keeping more tears from falling in a downpour.
“And I- I need you to just hold me.” You say softly grabbing his hand and leading him to your king bed. You’re still angry, but you need him to be here for you right now.
He follows you to the edge of the bed and pulls off his boots as you slide under the comforter. You still look so hurt, because you are. Bruce knows this isn’t you forgiving him, this is you giving him his first chance to mend what was broken.
Bruce climbs in much less gracefully under the blanket, he waits for you to come to him. And you do. You wrap your arms around his waist and rest your head on his chest. His shirt smells like him and it makes you much more tired than you were five minutes ago.
“I will always be here to hold you.” He whispers into your ear as he kisses the top of your head. He feels a wet spot forming on his shirt and guilt overtakes him for the millionth time in weeks. But Bruce just shuts his eyes tight and pulls you into him even closer. Silently letting you know that you can cry for as long as you need.
Your cries turn to sobs as you grip his black shirt tightly in your fists. After a long time of on and off sobs your tears turn into whimpers and sniffles. Bruce rubs your back in soothing circles, it's what he does when he wants you to sleep. You do just that. You drift off in his arms, and without any more words he knows, as he holds you in his arms that he will have to make it up to you and gain back your trust. And he will. Starting now, he will do anything and everything in his power to repair, patch up, restore, and piece back together what he ruptured.

Principal of pleasure part 39
The guests show up at the Wayne manor and the gang starts to loosen up.
Superman x Nightwing pairing
Tumblr media
Dick
Jason looks at his phone and looks up at us, And then looks at me and then back up at Bruce puzzled expression.
"Roy." The whole room went silent as if a ghost swept past us.
A cold chill in the late summer came into the living room and stayed here it felt like all eternity.
This was so out of left field my emotions are on ice I couldn't express them at this moment.
Roy was a cast away and he never made it right really with the league a long time ago. And Bruce took it personal he broke up Roy and Jason this was crazy at that moment.
At that time I slowly reached out to Jason after many years I was chased off to Bludhaven, Jason put it in briefly it did not go well with Bruce Roy and Jason back then.
The trio had an episode at that time that I walked in the middle of the love story.
A dark love affair had put our family in a shake up.
I blame Bruce for everything that is going on with Jason's personal life I believe he truly loves Roy the dark night deserve a to be judge for it I think tonight is that night.
"Oh Roy Harper Jason I haven't seen him in a while he's still around then." Jason agreed. "Yes he's in town and since you said we could chill out here I thought the best person to chill with is Roy." Jason said as his back is turned going towards the door.
"You're right he is. Everyone in the living room will have some bloody Mary's." Bruce announced and we got up, Me and Kal trailed behind a bit as we walked together.
"Bruce dos not drink little bird."
"No he does not but me and you will but only tonight we will drink."
As we talked privately Bruce rounded the corner of the entrance of the living room, But before he entered he glanced in our direction and something in his eyes were cold and defiant unruly eyes of a stranger felt us up.
I felt a shiver run down my spine all the way to my toes as Bruce watched us.
He said nothing and entered the room.
Me and Kal were silent as we watched him keeping our thoughts to ourselves for the time being.
We walked in but we separated and sat on the opposite sofa's.
Roy and Jason walk in together the ginger haired man was always such a contrast to Jason's dark features.
They have so much in common I haven't been around too much when they were a couple but I feel a shift in the room when both of them are in the same room.
Bruce eyes followed them like a bat cool blue eyes swept up Roy quietly. "Good evening Roy." Bruce greeted him warmly.
"Sup Bat's."
"So hum since Roy is here why don't we just...."
"Holy fuck Sup's is here what's going on here." Roy exclaimed and shook Kal hand he smiled sheepishly at him, He blushed a little and ducked his head a bit I haven't seen that reaction from Kal in ages.
A slow little smile came on my face as I watched them but I knew not far from my gaze I could feel Bruce's cool eyes are on me.
I didn't look at him I just kept staring at them I needed to take notes right now.
I was under the bat's gaze in this place I had no choice but to take notes.
Alfred came in tray in hand with bloody mary's he set it down on the coffee table and left.
"This seems kind of boring let's play some music." Tim is already on his phone and fiddling with his play list. " Oh yeah here we go." a beat that was messy came out of the speakers Jason wanted none of that.
"Woah what this shit come on let me try." Jason but in and goes on his phone a slow beat comes flooding the speaker.
Drink already in hand and Kal I knew he wasn't good at holding anything down but our instinct told us to loosen up.
We will keep our guard up at all times.
Roy was already downing his drink already I got up and started dancing to Jason joining me.
Kal still drinking and watching us with his eyes on me and Jason, I wish we were born with telepathy so we could speak to each other I wanted to know what was on Kal's mind right now.
Tim pulled on Kal arm. "Come on blue." I watched in an adoration as Tim got Kal to his feet.
As he oddly did a two step dance move with his feet.
Jason pulled me to his attention he spoke low and. "follow my lead don't ask questions just go with it." I smiled understanding his plan.
Damian surprisingly stayed in the room and made no comment or move to get up but just like his father stayed watchful.
Me and Jason looked at each other and went towards him, Damian saw us coming towards him with a proposition of a dance and he wanted no smoke and took off from the living room.
We laugh as he took off from us Roy tried to catch him but Damian dodge his grasp.
"Slippery weasel huh." Roy said as he approached us as he came behind Jason.
"He's watching you like a dog."
"I know."
"Wanna give him a show."
"Eww gross no way."
"Why not I bet he's hard just looking at us."
"No you came here to distract him not give him a boner."
"Ha ha that's cool." We made a tight circle for the three of us, Jason and Roy and myself dancing and talking finding a temporary time to talk about Bruce and his watchful gaze.
"I told him you needed back up. I'm getting the impression it is getting harder and harder to breathe in here I forgot how the bat was." Roy explained.
"Wow Jason you went all out for me." I replied. "Now I need to find a way to really get that heat off of you." We danced for a bit and Bruce got up and went towards Kal.
A flash of warnings flares out in me to just stay still and make no reaction to what I will witness.
As Tim watched Bruce approach them Tim backed away as Bruce made it into Kal's personal space.
Kal didn't push him away I watched as he touched the small of Kal's large broad back.
I made no move nor made any expression appear on my face or made any inclination that I understood what Bruce was doing.
The bat was in full mode as he pressed close to Kal.
Kal looked straight at me as they moved around.
"He wants you to react don't for the love of god don't."
"Dos he know Jason."
"He certainly smells you."
We whisper.
Tim pulls out his phone on them as he video them.
Jason approach Tim. "Send it to your Conner." Jason said loudly the music is high Tim gave him a look like he was crazy.
"Come on send him and let's take a selfie together." Jason said grabbing another bloody mary.
Tim pulled his phone away from Bruce and Kal and took pictures of them. "Good Tim very good." And ruffled his hair.
I watched how Bruce's hand slowly touched Kal body roaming him. It made my blood boil but I stayed calm.
A knock at the door and everyone looked at each other puzzled.
"I'll go." As Jason went towards the door.
And moments later Conner was here.
Tim is shocked in place he only sent him a video and a picture a few minutes ago.
"Sorry crash but I wanted to see this for myself." Conner said.
"No worries."
Bruce broke off from Kal but did not leave his side right away.
Fine Bruce wanted to play then fine we will play.
End of part 39 next is part 40

Can I Call You Tonight?
Bruce calls you in the middle of the night, you can instantly sense something is off only for him to tell you about a realization he had when remembering his parent’s relationship.
Bruce x GN! Reader
Word Count: 1125
Contains / Warnings: No pronouns used for reader, Established friendship, Friends to Lovers, Love confessions, Bruce talks about his parents, Small and quick fic for the homies.
Tumblr media
It was late at night when you heard your phone buzzing loudly, the bright screen almost blinding as you groaned in bed. Hand aimlessly trying to grab it from the nightstand with your face buried into your pillow. When you finally did you stared at the screen with squinting eyes for a second until finally being able to make out the words 'unknown number' boldly there.
Shit...If he's calling you this late something must have gone down-
You take a deep breath before accepting the call, bringing it up to your ear only being met with unnerving silence.
"Uh- Hello?" Your horsed voice called out, your brain to sleepy yet nervously running to conclusions at the same time to even cringe at the way you sounded.
"Hey." You pause as that voice made it to your ears, your body doing a 180 as you jolted out of bed, not noticing him call out your name when you don't respond. You hear him repeat your name this time, so softly that you could miss it. Your mind rushing to come up with anything after hearing him use that voice on you. "Uh yeah I'm here- just was startled." Bruce stared down at his screen, the sounds of bats chirping in the distance. Already in his several layers of baggy clothes, yet the cold air still sent a shiver up his spine when he heard your voice.
"Yeah..." You raise a brow at his lack of conversation, Bruce had never been the most talkative of people but there was a difference in his tone that made everything almost have a daunting feel. Getting more anxious by the second you start to pace around your bedroom, focusing on the freezing cold floor as an attempt to distract yourself from just how slightly off everything felt.
"So you good? Why did you call me so late?" You finally get the courage to ask.
"I tried what you recommend and it worked."
"Calling to thank me for some programming advice? Doesn't sound like you." Your eyes looking around at every shadow that reminded you of the certain bat while waiting out another pause. "Bruce, you can tell me what's wrong." Quietly whispering into the phone, you finally hear him sigh.
"I just wanna hear your voice right now."
You almost dropped your phone at that, the thought of Bruce simply calling you for something as personal as that instead of having an underling goal or mission was a miracle. A miracle that scared you at this unfamiliar territory you were now on.
"Oh- Um...Okay. Wanna talk about your day then? You in your night shift still?"
"No, just finished up a while ago, I'm at the hideout right now."
"Hm, And how was it?" You try to continue knowing that any conversation with Bruce would mainly be one-sided but you didn't mind, it was only the moments of silence like now that made you uneasy. The thought of him ending the call abruptly always on the back of your mind.
"...Bruce?" You shyly called out.
"I saw something tonight, something that made me realize a lot- I don't know how to even say it to the point where I think it would be better to let it down." He sounded like he was thinking out loud, his voice more like a mutter that you could barely hear.
"Come on, you can't just say that and expect me not to wonder." You try to sound lighthearted only to be met with Bruce's somber words.
"I got reminded of my parents..."
"Oh-" you instantly regretted asking now, knowing this was painful territory.
"I've held memories of them just being my parents but I got reminded how much they really loved each other."
"Yeah, I think a lot of us have those moments. I think the older we get the more we appreciate or get humbled when seeing our parents as people." You say not trying to stir him away from the topic, yet still nervous to say anything with to much weight.
"You know... my dad always admired my mom so openly, especially around me. There wasn't a story he hadn't told me over a dozen times about their first dates. I hated it back then, thinking it was gross like every other kid would have." You just listen, letting him go on as you could sense him smiling at the other end of the call. A small moment of vulnerability you didn't wanna ruin. "And now I look back at those moments and can't help but think about what they had, something that I now know runs so deep."
"We all have hopes of meeting someone we can admire that much." You respond while settling down onto your bed again. Bruce let out a shaky breath before speaking up. "There's something else too. I needed to hear you, just to see... to confirm it." You notice his tone become even shyer, his voice almost giving out at the end.
"You can say it, don't worry."
"The way my dad spoke about her- the way he looked at my mom. I never knew what it meant back then but I think I do now. I finally know what makes a man act like that."
You stay quiet, the feelings of butterflies in your stomaching was enough to make your head dizzy, only being able to hang onto each and every word. "I think about you often. You cross my mind everyday. I dream of the stories we could tell, the things we could do."
You almost had to check this wasn't a dream, a cruel dream that you would wake up from soon. But no, it was as real as it could be. Yet you couldn't help but doubt this moment. "Bruce are you sure about this- to be telling me this?"
"I know I'm not the best at expressing myself and that there's still a small part of me that fears this... but I want to at least say it before I lose anything, if I somehow lose you."
You let out a small laugh in disbelief, rubbing your temple as you sat up. "You'll never lose me, I can't really leave your side." You smile, Bruce feeling the tips of his own lips tugging up for a brief moment.
"You swear? To stay by my side?"
You hum, looking out your window to see those twinkling city lights, the closest to stars in a city like this. "I rather say it to your face, give you a proper confession." You say playfully, only to be met with the sound of clothes shuffling. You nervously called out his name when you continue hearing the sound instead of his voice.
"Give me fifteen minutes." Was all he said, hanging up the call as you look at your phone in confusion. Only to instantly become flustered as you realized Bruce was going to give you exactly what you wanted.

You’d really thought nothing of it until you’d gotten off the quinjet. Even the whole journey home you had felt fine, brushing off everyone’s concern with a flick of the wrist as if it was nothing. You really had felt fine. The exposure to the gas back at the enemy base had been minimal, barely a few seconds, and after a brief once over by one of the SHIELD medics, you had been given the all clear that it was probably fine.
It wasn’t until you were walking towards the briefing room to have the post mission meeting that you started to feel anything unusual. Your skin was starting to itch with a burning hotness that was impossible to ignore. When you had parted ways with the team to quickly get changed out of your combat gear before the brief, you had treated yourself to a very cold shower but if anything it only seemed to have made you even more aware of how hot you were feeling. Washing at all was starting to feel like a total waste of time, your hands already clammy with sweat and the hair by your temples beginning to dampen and cling to the side of your head. Your brain felt fuzzy but at that same time it was like you were thinking with perfect clarity. It was like nothing you’d ever experienced before.
Looking around the briefing room as you entered, it was as if you were wearing tinted glasses, everything not quite the way it should be and with a tinge of deep red or orange. You could feel every beat of your pulse against your skull, every hammer of your heart in your chest. Your throat felt dry yet you couldn’t stop running your tongue over your lips to prevent your mouth from watering.
It wasn’t until Natasha sat down beside you that it became apparent that something was very wrong. The smell hit you like a bus and it only intensified everything you were already feeling. It was like your senses had been dialled up threefold. You could take her all in as if it were carefully arranged layers just for you to enjoy; the coconut of her shampoo, the sweet smell of the lotion she’d applied after the shower, the laundry detergent on her fresh clothes, the smell of her perfume.
Maybe it wasn’t the most subtle reaction you could have had if you were hoping not to attract any attention, but jumping up from your seat so violently that your chair fell backwards with a loud crash certainly ensured that everyone’s eyes were now on you.
“Are you okay?” The concerned voice of Bruce from the other side of the room hit you but you could barely focus on what he was saying.
Standing up from her own seat to look at you more closely, Natasha cocked her head to the side as she examined your flushed skin, heavy breathing and blown out pupils. She turned back to the others in the room with a frown, “See, I told you she wasn’t alright.”
“But the medics checked her over.”
“Oh like they know everything.”
“Well they know more than you!”
“It was only a minor exposure and we don’t even know what it was.”
“She said she was feeling fine on the quinjet, I mean this could be something else.”
“Sure, it’s just a huge coincidence that she feels like this after being gassed.”
As the team descended into an argument, you couldn’t really hear what they were saying. Nor, did you care. You felt restless and fidgety, tapping your foot up and down against the ground as you rubbed at your forearms uncomfortably. Your jaw was clenched tight, tilting your head from side to side to work the muscles in your neck as you tried to get your breathing to return to normal. It felt like an adrenaline rush, that feeling that hits you just as the rollercoaster is about to go over the big drop. But it also felt like a hunger, a craving for something like you were a predator that needed to hunt. It was too hard to put your finger on it, too early in the stages of whatever you were feeling to identify it yet.
The sound of someone calling your name broke you from your thoughts, looking up at the rest of the occupants in the room to see them all watching you expectantly.
“What?”
Sitting down by a laptop at the head of the table, Bruce pushed his glasses up his nose as he tapped a few keys before looking up at you, “I’ll have to use the database we have to try and identify what you’ve been exposed to. But I need you to concentrate and answer a few questions okay?”
You nodded your head, closing your eyes momentarily as a wave of heat washed over your body and you tried to remained focused, “Sure, sure, sure let’s do it.”
“So this gas ... could you see it? Did it have a colour?”
It was so hard to focus on the question, your brain working at a million miles a minute but unable to make sense of whatever it was that you were thinking about, “Erm ... I don’t ... it was kind of ... like a greyish blue, I guess.”
“And a smell? Did it have a smell?”
“It was ... sweet. I suppose. Yeah ... but like ... a dessert or something. Like someone had lit a vanilla candle.”
The questions seemed to go on forever, with the occasional interjection from someone else as they tried to help with the answers. Each question narrowed the possibilities down further, Bruce carefully inputting the information into the computer. By the time he got to the bottom of it, you could barely think straight any more, your hands balling into fists as you tried to process the discussion that was taking place around you.
“That’s ridiculous, they don’t actually use that stuff.”
“Well obviously they do because here we are.”
“If they don’t use it then how is it in their files? We only have the information because we took it from them.”
“But there’s never actually been a case of it being used before.”
“Until now.”
“I mean just wanting to have a lot of sex doesn’t sound that bad, there are worse ways to spend an afternoon.”
“Tony! Can you be serious for one second.”
“It isn’t that simple. This is like a real urge. It can be quite uncomfortable for the subject they-“
“The subject?! She has a name you know.”
“But she’s not gonna do anything crazy right?”
“Well no she won’t do anything she wouldn’t usually want to do but the need will be off the charts. It can drive people crazy if they don’t get some sort of relief from it.”
Finally you couldn’t take any more, clearing your throat loudly to get their attention and gesturing towards the door, “Yeah so this is pretty awkward, little embarrassing, bit too intimate to be honest so I think I’m gonna take off.”
“Wait, you should go to the med bay.”
You interrupted Steve’s statement with a laugh, already making your way towards the door as you used all of your willpower to ignore the powerful surge of hormones and need coursing through your body, “What are they gonna do for me there exactly?”
“I dunno, some of those nurses are pretty cute.”
Despite the fact Tony’s joke earned him a disapproving look from almost everyone, you were actually grateful for it, laughing again as you took his words as your cue to escape and hastily left. You were halfway to your room when you heard the sound of feet hitting the ground behind you.
“Wait up.”
God even the sound of her voice was getting too much now.
“Nat. Please, I really really can’t be around you.”
Despite your statement, the red head fell into step just behind you and followed you down the corridor, “I wanted to make sure you got back alright.”
“And while I appreciate that, you’re way too hot to be this close to me.” your eyes fell closed at your words, the effects obviously starting to hit you stronger now as the confession fell freely from your lips. You never spoke to Natasha like this, you wouldn’t have dared on a normal day for fear she’d knock you to ground. Whatever you’d inhaled earlier that day didn’t seem to share your reservations as the arousal started to make itself known.
Natasha pursed her lips, not wanting to embarrass you as she was fairly certain you would never have normally said something like that to her. Certainly not so blasé. “It’s okay. I know this must be ... overwhelming.”
You snorted, “That’s one word for it. But seriously ... I don’t think it’s a good idea for you to be here.”
“Well I don’t think it’s a good idea for you to be alone.”
Stopping outside your bedroom door, you looked back at the other woman and immediately had to close your eyes and turn your head away instead as a strong pang of arousal hit you, “Jesus.”
“What? Does it hurt?” the concern in Natasha’s voice was obvious, watching you carefully as your eyes bunched closed tighter and you pushed out a shaky breath.
Shaking your head frantically from side to side, you went to grab the door handle from behind the other woman, “It’s uncomfortable. It’s way too intense. I just wanna ... fuck ... I need to get inside ... I need ... I need you to move, please.”
The sensation of Natasha’s hands coming up to rest on your cheeks caused your breath to catch in your throat. It was almost too much, the feeling of her soft skin on yours was like electricity, a shiver travelling the length of your spine and a heavy drop hitting your stomach. One of her thumbs brushed over your cheek before she spoke, “Let me help you.”
When you opened your eyes to look at her, the feeling that came over you was like nothing you’d ever felt before. It was as if someone else had taken control of you, like you were watching from the sidelines as your body acted of it’s own accord. The moment your eyes had locked with Natasha’s, everything you’d been fighting to control took hold of you and in three brisk steps forward you had the other woman caged between the door and your body, one of your hands coming up to rest on the wood beside her head.
“Natasha.” You paused to wet your lips, ignoring the huskiness to your voice as you scrambled around in your head for the smallest ounce of restraint, “You really need to leave now before I do something I can’t take back.”
If you had been expecting any reaction from the other woman, what she actually did would have been somewhere at the bottom of your list. Over the year or so that you’d worked with Natasha you’d had a mostly professional relationship, though that wasn’t to say you weren’t friendly with one another. However the forwardness of her next move was new territory all together.
Moving her hands from your cheeks, she ran them slowly down to either side of your neck. You could do nothing but lean into the gesture, goosebumps rising and flesh searing at the feeling of her fingertips digging into you. You were so lost in the sensation of her touch that you hadn’t realised she’d leaned closer until her hot breath hit the shell of your ear and she spoke in a low whisper, “But just think how good it would feel if you let me help you.”
Her words actually pulled a growl from the back of your throat, the ever growing heat between your thighs magnifying significantly at her words, “Nat ... last warning.”
Instead of backing down, Natasha tilted her head enough that her lips could attach to the side of your neck before speaking again, “Stop fighting it, I know you want me.”
That was enough. You couldn’t have prevented it no matter what had tried to stop you, pushing the door open with one hand as the other gripped the back of her neck and pulled her into a searing kiss. Practically falling through the door together, Natasha’s hands found your waist and all you could do was groan at the relief of the full body contact. Feeling the way her breasts pressed up against your chest, her tongue slipping into your mouth, her hands around your waist as yours slipped down to grope at her ass. God it was intoxicating and still you wanted more
If you had any control over the urges that were powering your body you’d probably have wanted to take your time. Your attraction to Natasha wasn’t something you were particularly ashamed of or desperate to hide. However you’d barely got as far as building up a friendship with the red head and so jumping straight into sex seemed like you were skipping a few important steps. Not to mention the fact that you were fairly certain this was not going to be a terribly slow or tender encounter. No. With the way you were already pulling her clothing from her body and tearing at your own, you both knew that this was something else all together.
Fortunately for both parties Natasha really didn’t mind. Of course after Bruce had explained the effects you would be feeling, what else would she be expecting really? But in the time the two of you had been working together she had come to care for you and the idea of you struggling alone wasn’t something she cared for. Also she’d be lying if she said she hadn’t thought about you in a sexual way before, granted she never thought this would be how it happened.
In all your haste to get Natasha undressed you actually fumbled several times with the fastening of her bra, sure that you’d be embarrassed under normal circumstances but currently too frustrated and impatient to care. You were relieved when Natasha wordlessly reached around and undid the clasp herself, throwing the item across the room before wrapping her arms around your body to do the same with your clothing.
You could barely register what was happening as the two of you staggered backwards into your bedroom, barely managing not to trip over the clothing and shoes that you’d discarded on the way. You were too lost in her to bring yourself to care about being careful. Just kissing her was absolute heaven. Her tongue sliding over yours, lips working frantically together. You had expected Natasha to be a good kisser and maybe it was just the effects of what you had been exposed to but it was like a sparks were flying, a warm wave washing over your body and a pang of arousal with every soft moan from the red head that vibrated against your lips. The way she would occasionally suck your tongue more harshly into her mouth made you feel wobbly on your feet, and the sensation of her nipping your lower lip between her teeth had you desperate for more.
It didn’t take long for you to be pinned on the mattress beneath her, both naked now and lips still moulded together as she settled herself on top of you. Already you couldn’t stop yourself from grinding down against her thigh, desperate to relieve some of the pressure that had started to build. If anything you needed it more now, the arousal bordering on uncomfortable as you became acutely aware of just how wet you were against Natasha’s thigh.
The other woman didn’t need to be told, evidence of your arousal already coating her skin. She finally broke the kiss to lean down, but she had barely attached her lips to one of your nipples when you pulled her back up with a frantic shake of your head and a groan, “Please Nat, I can’t wait any longer, just fuck me already, please.”
You felt on the verge of crying you wanted it so bad, the whole experience completely foreign to you. It was bizarre to be overwhelmed with such a primal, animalistic need. Every time you found yourself in bed with a woman you enjoyed everything about it; lavishing her body with attention, the anticipation, the teasing, wanting to take her to the heights of pleasure over and over. This was nothing like that at all. You really just wanted to fuck. More than anything you wanted to come and you were fairly certain if you didn’t soon then it would be the death of you.
Nodding her head in understanding, Natasha pressed her lips to yours again as she propped herself up on one of her elbows, “I’ve got you, don’t worry.”
You were so soaked by now her fingers slipped easily inside of you and all you could do was lie back and release a loud moan. You weren’t sure whether it was in relief or pleasure but either way you were certain that Natasha’s fingers had to be one of the most wonderful things you’d ever felt in your life. Just one thrust of her digits already had your fingers grabbing at the sheets below you, heels digging into the mattress and head thrown back against the pillow in bliss as finally, finally you were given what you had been craving.
“Good?” asked Natasha, her fingers having stilled inside of you almost immediately as she waited for some kind of signal from you that what she was doing was definitely what you wanted.
Nodding your head hurriedly, you brought her mouth down to meet yours again, mumbling frantically against her lips between kisses, “So fucking good ... keep going.”
Natasha grinned, happy to oblige as she started to move her hand again and picked up a steady pace. Almost immediately your hips were moving of their own accord to match her, grinding down against her fingers as she worked them inside of you. Every thrust was heaven, the woman above you seemingly knowing exactly what you needed as she began to push into you harder and faster with each stroke.
Everything about it was satisfying the urges that had been threatening to overwhelm you. The brush of her hardened nipples against your chest as she moved above you. The frantic pants for breath into your mouth between heated and messy kisses. The intensity of how she was watching you and the subtle smirk on her lips as she knew how much you were enjoying what she was doing. When her thumb came up to brush over your clit you wanted to be embarrassed at the groan of pleasure that rang out in the room but you were too far gone now to care.
All of it was perfect. She was perfect. You could feel your head getting foggy, that faint twitch to your limbs as the pleasure was building in the pit of your stomach. As you tightened around Natasha’s fingers you craved the release that you knew was so close. The way her eyes were locked on you almost made you melt under her gaze, the darkened green eyes and pink tinged cheeks making sure you definitely wanted to have your way with her after this.
You could feel it happening, allowing the sensation of your orgasm to consume you as it started to hit with another brush of your clit and a curl of Natasha’s fingers. A loud cry of her name echoed off the walls at the action, your teeth sinking into the side of her neck in a failed attempt to muffle the noise. You couldn’t catch your breath at the feeling of satisfaction that finally swept over your body, hands gripping at her shoulders and toes curling into the mattress as you relished the moment. Your thighs quivered slightly and you could feel your pussy clenching around Natasha’s fingers, the red head groaning in quiet appreciation at the sensation. It was exactly what you needed.
And just as her fingers were beginning to still, you could already feel the arousal rising again. The tingles of pleasure had barely subsided and you hadn’t even had a chance to catch your breath before you were hungry for more. Natasha seemed to notice it at the same time you did, not missing the way your eyes had clouded over with lust again.
You were filled with relief when you caught her smirking and her fingers started to slowly move again.
Yeah, Natasha was definitely the right person to help you with this problem.

You spun on the stool, facing your brother with a sigh. He scratched the back of his head, the glow from Loki’s scepter reflecting on his specs in a grey light.
“One more hour?” he asked with a wince.
You rolled your eyes. “Okay,” you groaned. “But then we’re off to bed. And I’m putting Celine Dion on the stereo to sleep.”
“Not her again,” he groaned.
You raised a finger, brows crawling up your forehead. “You made me come here on this ridiculous flying tank with the God damned Avengers, of all people, and we’ve been here for four days listening to sounds of water dripping and Cap’s fifties music.”
Bruce sighed, leaning his forehead into his palm. “Fine.” His hands went up in mock surrender. You could see the tension in his shoulders, straining against the material of his chemise.
Not that you could see the color of it. You imagined it was blue. Bruce liked blue. Bruce knew colors. Of course he did. He’d met his soulmate such a long time ago, you’d forgotten she even existed.
But not you. You’d gone through life in the dreary black and white of a world without a soulmate. But now you were curious. You knew the colors by name, but not sight. What does green even look like? Bruce had told you trees and grass were green. Some people’s eyes. Ever since he’d told you that, green became your favorite. Maybe blue could beat it, since Tony Stark had told you the sky was all shades of blue combined.
An alarmed blared overhead, and your first instinct was to run to your brother’s side. Bruce’s eyes met yours, his mouth tugging up at the corners.
He’s fine.
Your hand found the curve of his forearm, still. No one really knew what actually triggered the Hulk, and you, being his little sister, were the only human alive able to tame the beast.
You heard footsteps, many, clambering loudly down the hall. The door to Bruce’s workspace was wide open, and you heard the telltale sound of security making their way down the hall. You frowned. What could they be doing so late at night, and so many all together?
At first, from the windows in the workspace, you only saw the black suits of the security patrol, their reflective masks bright in the hall. They walked in patterned, simultaneous movements, guns held firm in their grasps.
You saw the top of a really - no, seriously, really! - tall head, black hair. White skin. And as the small platoon of security walked passed your door, you saw the man walking in their midst, tied in shackles.
He turned his head, buzzing in your mind, something deep in your chest tightening. And then you saw the color of his eyes.
You couldn’t tell at first. Because the world became so vivid, so bright. He went from black and white to stark and bright and whole before your eyes, stealing the breath from your lungs.
A ringing started in your ears, a burning in your throat. You couldn’t help but stare, watching his eyes drink you in as well, watching his own world turn from ash to bright as the sun.
No, you thought. No. Not him.
Anyone but him.
And just before he rounded the corner, his lips stretched into a smirk.
A cold hand on your arm brought you back. As if slamming back into your body.
“You okay?” Bruce asked.
You gulped. Nodded. Felt your cheeks blooming with heat. “Yeah, of course.”
You could see the colors on your brother, now. Albeit, not being able to tell which specific color it was. And yet he was beautiful. Later, after hours of searching online for colors, you’d be able to tell his hair was black, his eyes a warmest brown, his skin a shade of white a few degrees darker than yours.
But now, it took everything in you not to scream.
You could finally see the entire world for what it truly was and all because of a demi-God wrought with darkness.
No. It couldn’t be him.
You separated from your brother, your mouth dry, feeling his eyes on you. He could always tell when you were troubled. But there was just no way, no freaking way, you’d tell him that you’d just met your soulmate. If he knew who it was... No. You wouldn’t tell him. You wouldn’t tell anyone.
You went to the computer and turned the screen away from Bruce, clearing your throat. Bruce went back to his own computer.
You didn’t even search up colors yet. You searched up the possibility of soulmates being wrong for each other. The computer spat out articles and data from hundreds of years, all proving that the soulmate trigger worked. That the signs of color all proved one had met the person right for them.
You sighed, dropping your head in your hands.
You rubbed at your eyes, steeling yourself for what you were about to ask.
“Bruce?”
“Hmm?”
“Did they just bring in Loki?”
His head raised from his computer. “Yeah.” He frowned. “I’m going to go ask why. Does it disturb you that he’s here?”
You scratched your jaw. “No, not at all,” you said quickly, too quickly. You cringed internally, hoping your face didn’t mimic the shame you felt. “Just - why?”
“I’ll go ask,” Bruce said. If he had any inkling as to why you were suddenly intrigued in God of mischief, he didn’t give any clue.
He left. You took a second to steady yourself. You counted your fingers. Felt the shape of your face.
Then you took a breath in and all but flew out the door.
You followed the maze that was the inner organs of the Helicarrier until you reached the “jail”, which was, upon inquiry, meant to hold your brother if ever you weren’t there to calm him in time.
You watched from outside the doors as Fury talked to Loki. You couldn’t help the fire in your chest as you watched. Loki seemed trapped, looking discreetly around the room, around his glass cage, his green eyes keen on any weakness.
You felt the sweat collecting in the palm of your hands. You waited patiently, praying whatever Bruce was up to would keep him long enough that he wouldn’t come looking for you. You heard broken pieces of the conversation on the other side of the steel enforced doors, but Loki’s voice was even, steady, unafraid.
He knew he wouldn’t be beat here.
You counted to one hundred the moment Fury walked out. Your heart beat vehemently between your ribs, battering your bones. Your knees were putty when you finally, slowly, opened the doors.
The air ruffled your hair, blowing it out of your face.
He stood tall, straight, unmoving, statuesque in the middle of his prison. Hands at his sides. Eyes mild. Mouth straight. He gave no indication that his world had finally shifted after millennia of black and white.
“I didn’t have to wait long.” His voice sent shivers down your spine, your body so reactive to even the sound of his words that you wondered, for just a second, what his touch would do.
You closed the door, tentatively approaching the control board. You saw a big red button and decided maybe touching random buttons wouldn’t do any of you any good.
“What’s your name?” he asked, following your movements with his sharp emerald gaze. He still stood there, like cement was poured down the length of his spine.
You darted your eyes back to his. He was glad in - what you later learned - was a green and gold ensemble, a green cotton cape grazing the floor of his cage. He was beautiful, really. Cut by the finest knife to the most perfect edge.
He smiled then, creasing his cheeks in what you could only feel as adorable.
“Didn’t expect it to be moi, did you, princess?”
You tried not to react, but heat bloomed across your cheeks, giving you away.
“Why?” you asked.
He rolled his eyes, sighing dramatically, breaking his statuesque stance to throw his arms up. “By the Gods,” he groaned, accent thick on his tongue. “You humans are so pathetic. Why this? Why that? Why me? Oh, you want to be so special that you question the straight line of fate as if the entire meaning of the world revolved around you.”
You raised your brows. Wow. He’d been thinking of that for a while.
“Do you know the colors?” you asked, approaching the glass that separated you from your soulmate.
He took you in, green eyes drinking you in from head to toe. He didn’t seem to think anything negative about his soulmate. “I’ve taken sense-enhancing drugs in my lifetime,” he said. “I’ve known colors briefly. Thor taught them to me.”
You nodded. “Your eyes are green.”
His lips split in a grin. “You’re very perceptive,” he chuckled. “And you’re wearing a powder blue sweater. Childish.”
Something in you shifted and you wanted to say something, something bad. Something along the lines of, “what is your favorite color?” and then run and wear it.
Instead, you approached the glass even more. By this distance, you could see he was significantly taller than you. He eyed you down his nose.
“A human,” he said with distaste.
“Maybe that’s your punishment,” you ventured, your heart railing against your ribs. “Maybe that’s your conundrum. You’ve thought nothing of humanity but the possibility to dominate and squander us under your boot like ants. Isn’t it fitting?”
You saw the anger cross his face before his lips spat the vile things he thought in his mind. “You are not worthy of a God, you fleeting, imbecile, nothingness of a human. I will outlive you before I even grow a white hair. Our children will watch you wither before they’ve even gone to school.”
“Our children?”
That seemed to faze him.
Wow, you thought. Of all the things Loki was, he was traditional. He very well intended to follow through with the soulmate script; to marry you and have children with you.
The thought first amazed you, burning bright in your mind’s eye. Then you thought twice and feigned disgust.
He laughed. “Oh, please, you’re the luckiest woman in the universe to have been bound to a God.”
“Aren’t you a demi?”
His gaze placated you. “I am, but the fact remains that I am greater than you, greater than anything your pathetic little human brain can conceive.”
You rolled your eyes with audacity you didn’t know you had. “Well,” you sighed, shrugging, hands in your back pockets. “What now?”
He cocked his head. “What do you mean?”
“Are we to start this - thing, or are we to go back to our normal lives and, hoping you don’t obliterate the planet, we never see each other again?”
His jaw clenched, working. “You know it’s physically impossible now for us to be apart.” He said this through clenched teeth, hands in fists.
You shrugged again. “I don’t know about you but I wouldn’t mind never having to look at your ugly mug ever again.”
He frowned deeply. “Try it, then, you’ll see, mortal.”
You sighed apathetically, turning your back to him.
“Before you go!” Loki called. You turned slowly on your heel, offering him nothing but your side profile. “Let your brother know I’m hoping to meet him soon.”
The blood in your veins went cold.
Part 2? Anybody?

"Tell me about him."
"About who, Loki?"
"Your past lover with the fairly peculiar name."
"Nuada? Why?"
"You said his name yesterday in your sleep, dove."
"Sorry."
"Why for? Now, was he comparable to me?"
She giggles "A little. He held himself to the same elevated royal regard like you."
"Oh."
"But that was his downfall."
"Oh..."
"That was years ago. I am certain he forgot about me. I love you."
"I love you too, princess. However, you are untrue about one thing."
"About what?"
"Whoever you cross paths with, you leave an irreplaceable print on their lives. I am sure that Nu-a-da feels the same."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Nuada..." her words echoed off the magical glass and into his ears picking up the sad tone his eyes picking up only the cold wall he faced. "I am leaving. I need to go back Hellboy told me that being in this world is bad for me I need to go back to MY home. I will NOT see you again."
He stands up seeing the form of his former lover disappear in gold flakes with his hand raised. "Y/n.'"her desperate name befalls off his lips.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nuada stands up walking towards his today's visitor, his twin sister. Nuala. "Brother." he retorted "Sister."
Her hand reaches her chest. The thin fabric mashing into her narrow fingers. "I feel a tremendous distress from you."
"Ha, that gloom followed me when you betrayed me for the big red rock." he argued his attitude spiteful.
Nuala shakes her head "No, this sadness is beyond comparison. Unexplainable." she refuted moving closer to the shield her hand on the magical glass."This is heartbreak. For a certain being." Nuada's eyes gazing at her eyeing her mouth "For a human girl." His eyes twitched.
"That is forgone now. My actions are-" she cuts him off "-Are empty. Wanting nothing more than to have her back your arms wanting to do to everything and comprise everything to be with her. Since no price is too imperial for her."
"Enough!"
His turmoil echoed in the cell his kin standing her hand moving through the glass, his eyes cleared in shock.
"You could have run but you didn't, your powers exceed far more than mine. But you stayed for her, to pay the dues and to show in front of her a new creature. A new man how the humans would say."
Nuada walks striding out of the cell inquiring her with a breathless "Why?"
Nuala only cackles giving a minor shudder "Go... Find her."
Nuada steps off the stairs and moves out of the prison. His silver hair lifting off in the air that breezed through the long stands she caressed each night before they slept. His eyes that Y/n swore were made from molten gold searched into the area searching for his swords. His steps falling silent as he hears a small swish of magic, he turns to find a portal laced with green hues. He looks at the portal seeing no one only hearing the faint whisper of someone he yeared for.
"I am telling you. Bruce would manage to lift the hammer if he was in the elevator. No one can change my mind."
Y/N.
With no attending thoughts in his brain, his legs strode in front of him and into the portal that lured him so deceivingly in. The thick air that resided in his lungs was no more as he saw the same room he used to sneak in. The same cabinet he stubs his toe too many times and the small long mirror that was placed on the wall in front of the bed. He was here. Nuada was present in Y/N's room. The door opens and he sees her... and she sees him as the loud clang of swords fall from his pale blue hands. Y/n's steps coming to a halt. In front of her stood the former lover, the hair she kissed and braided was now much longer almost touching his buttcheeks the high cheekbones still current as ever the same markings on his skin stayed.
"Nuada? Wh-what are you doing here?"
She doesn't know how to acknowledge knowing that her present lover will come by any time soon. Her mind belonged to Loki. But what about her heart? Was there still room for Nuada to stand proud in?
"She told me to see you. She felt my eternal heartbreak that was left between us."
He steps closer, his hands reaching for her, her holding hands daily not yet remembering how rough he was. Y/N froze. There was no better way to explain it. Her brain worked overtime like a hamster in a wheel while her heart thudded in her ears and throat.
"I don't know what to say. We broke up. ever since you went to prison."
"I want to remove that, that memory. Seeing your face in vast anguish was something never I desired for."
Y/n flinches as her hands move away from his. Retorting with a small sigh "Still, we can not be together, Nuada, I am from a different world. Remember what Abe said:
"If you say here for too long your body will not manage to live here. It will kill itself slowly and who knows maybe that portal which you travel through will not open one day and you will lose all your loved ones."
"You can not stay here Nuada. You need to go back."
She wanted to shift away but his warmth and his authentic hands gradually and agonizingly pulled her in, her head resting on his shoulder. They stayed like that in silence while Nuada explains himself "My jewel, will you let me rewrite the wrongs of my life? Will you let me come back in and try to find the peace that you carry within you. I am lost without you?"
Y/n derides as her hand nudges against his chest tears probing outside of her eyes "What do you think felt like? When I came back after you were taken I had to rebuild myself, my job which I lost as I was traveling too much between realms and had to mask it. I had very bad thoughts that took a toll on me. you cannot ask for me to 'open my heart and welcome you with open arms. If it wasn't for Loki-"
"-Who is Loki?"
"My current BOYFRIEND. My lover."
Nuada footed back not even thinking that maybe she moved on with her life and found love with another. He didn't think how much damage he did to her heart that was already harmed.
"And who are you, stranger?" Loki's voice stirs through Y/n's ears and Nuada's, as well as both of them, turn to the god himself.
"Loki!" Y/n moved towards him already fearing what he thought "Nothing happened, I swear."
His finger reaches up to her cheek caressing the supple skin as she leans into his warm touch momentary closing her eyes. Not going unnoticed by the long-haired creature himself. "I know, lover. It is alright." he strides past her walking towards Nuada his green suit being slightly knowledgeable to Nuada.
"Have you-" "I assure you stranger, we are meeting for the first time. What is your name? What are you called?"
"Prince Nuada."
Loki swivels to Y/n "So that is him. dove? Perplexing..." Loki gazes at the creature noticing his marks on his body while his hand points to the marks "Are you a warrior? A bad one?" he grins seeing the small twitch in Nuada's eyebrow.
"I have spoken before my title is that of a prince. And what are you?"
"I am a God."
Loki walks back to Y/n holding her hand in his own bringing it up to his lips giving it the small peck she needs to zone back into reality and feel the gravity of this situation.
"Shall we?" "Yes..."
Nuada gazes and he feels the words jump out "I WILL DO ANYTHING TO BE WITH YOU, MY JEWEL!" they both halt turning to look at the elf "My pride is nothing compared to that to be kissed by your lips and to be filled by your love."
"Nuada, please... Stop this."
Nuada was a dominant creature of pride his name was not to be said without a shiver running down the spine of the person who said his name. The dangerous exterior and the harsh demeanor changed as Nuada kneeled, his pride stowed away not to see the light of this day.
"I still love her. She STILL possesses my heart."
Loki chuckles while he resolves, holding Y/n's hand
"What can we do about it? She has my heart as well."
Y/n subsisted in surprise staying between two of the same coin not already feeling the familiar tinge of arousal going through her body. Loki turns to Nuada indicating with a grin.
"Let us share her."
"Loki!!!"
He turns back to her kissing her lips saying in a bare hum "What else do you want me to do dove? You can see who much he IS willing to go through just to have a taste of your nectar. We can stop if that is what you wish for."
Y/n gasped out feeling Nuada pressed flush against her backside his hand traveling across her back.
"No."
"Then it's determined."
Loki looked at Y/n flushed eyes her iris almost despairing while she felt Nuada's long lost lips on her neck kissing and attending to her every carnal need she was deprived of. Loki took no more than a second to unbutton her shirt as she moaned at his cold fingers "No, use your magic." she barely managed to say it.
Loki takes it into account snapping his fingers as Y/n's, Nuada's, and Loki's clothes despair off of them leaving them naked. Nuada snatched her back onto the bed letting her softly sit down as Loki went behind her letting her rest her head on his abs. Nuada one more kneels looking solely at Y/n's
"May, I taste you, my jewel?" she nods as Nuada lets his lips open his tongue coming out and landing softly at the bottom of her folds tracing slowly up hearing her moans that he missed dearly. Loki kept an eye on her seeing her head drop against his stomach her eyes shut closed while her nipples begged for him to attend to them. His hands glided down giving her a message turning the nubs softly following the rhythm of Nuada's pace. As Nuada went up he found the one thing that gave her the nickname she carries for him his finger gently removing the fold and showing her clit "My only jewel." he mused seeing the deep red blush on her cheeks her eyes squinting not wanting to show her full-blown eyes his lips land around her clit sucking the delicate nerve bundle pulling slowly back giving her more depth to her passion. As her moans filled the room, Nuada HAD to rut his hips into the edge of the mattress wishing for just some sort of friction he craved for. Loki was nothing different either.
Y/n could feel his tip at the bottom of her head hard and quivering in rhythm with her moans each of the being anguish.
"I am close."
Loki answers sternly "Nuada, stop."
Nuada obediently ends peeking at the God, knowing he needs to play nice or otherwise he won't feel Y/n around him. "Let's fill her. Would you like that my beautiful Queen?"
"Yes." she rasped out "Yes, what?" "Yes, My King."
"Now, turn on your stomach. Nuada, we will swap our positions."
Nuada asks trying to hold still some ropes of authority "When will I feel her?"
Loki walks to him grabbing his chin forcefully "You, prince, will have your turn but for now, you will get her sacred mouth. Do you mind that Y/n?"
Y/n shakes her head between the power play that was in front of her "No."
Nuada kneels on the bed seeing Y/n beneath him, his cock twitched wanting nothing more than to take her and kill the god that was playing the power play over his royal birthright. Loki stood at the bed seeing her slick wet and pulling, taking his member into his hand pushing in, giving Nuada the head nod as Nuada places his cock in Y/n's mouth feeling her tongue beneath his cock while he slid further down listening to the audible gag reflex.
Y/n didn't know how to explain being throat fucked by a former King of Elf's and being fucked by a God of Mischief, feeling her both holes stretched with no remorse... And thriving in the fantasy.
"Can I move, pet?" Loki begged as he hears the audible Mhh from the bottom of her mouth. Jerking back from her pussy the tight walls would want nothing more than to hold him inside as Nuada continued to feel every inch of her mouth.
"Now, ah, Y/n your rule. You are not to cum until myself and Nuada cum inside you. You understand?"
At the command, she felt a powerful shiver in her body as rather of her voice her body replied as she became wetter at the demand. Loki chuckles as he looks at Nuada seeing his hand in Y/n's hair griping guiding her to a pace he knew she could take.
"Are you alright with that, Nuada? Having her being filled by mine and your seed."
"Yes. I can't wait to see her filled with our milk."
A few more thrusts and the men that were subdued at her body came. Y/n trying to hold in her orgasm. Loki pulls out feeling the cold air on his warm cock. While Nuada pulled slowly seeing her mouth full with his cum her eyes teary.
"Thank you... Sir," she said as a small smile was on Y/n's face. Loki looks at the two of them chuckling "She is all yours, Nuada." Loki and Nuada once more switch places as Loki attentively wipes the mix of drool and saliva pushing it back into her mouth giving her a sloppy kiss.
"Are you okay?"
"Yes, my King." she smiled. Nuada feels inching his cock to her folds pushing in. Her walls clutching at the tip he halts feeling the mix of Loki's cum and her own giving him silenced in. Closing her eyes she feels Loki's hand travel past her breasts, stomach and halting at her clit playfully flicking it.
"Loki!" she cries as the nerves shock her. "Do you like it, while play with your jewel while Nuada is thrusting in you, hopefully breeding a child in your womb, Y/n? Do you like it? To have a child and to share it with me and Nuada as fathers?"
"Yes!!! Nuada, fill me up well! Places!" the level she stooped to screen to out she didn't know she had it in her. Nuada thrust feeling her pull him only further in her walls clutching him for all she is worth. Loki pulls his hand back seeing the tears stream down Y/n's cheek.
"Do you wish to cum pet?" "Yes!"
Loki looks at Nuada seeing him give a nod and he responds "Then cum."
One more time and y/n doesn't see her lover only a white light as her orgasm rolled out of her. Talia felt Nuada ruts his hips into hers and as he slowly pulled out she felt full and replenished with their cum something filthy felt so powerful.
Wow, need holy water on my eyes. thanks for reading. tell me what you think. Hope you liked it.

Death
Death was nothing new in Marinette’s life.  In fact it played a large role.  Her friends and city had died a hundred times over.  Her brother.  Her funny, smart, loving, dramatic brother had died at the hands of a mad man.  She didn’t think it was wrong for her to use the horse miraculous to visit her brother's grave.  It was officially five years after all.  He would be 20, he would have loved to plan out her 16th birthday this year.  She sat down and read Pride and Prejudice out loud, only a few tears falling as she glanced at the grave every so often.  She had also brought a bouquet of white lilies, statices, red carnations, and white daisies.  Soft grass laid over the dirt, the sun gleamed above, and sometimes when she would lean against the grave it was almost like she could feel him.
Dark storm clouds began to cloud the sky, and she knew she would have to leave soon, though she didn’t want to.  Dad would be upset if he caught her, though considering how many weeds she had to remove from the grave and how abandoned it looked, she doubted anyone had visited any time soon.  Suddenly the rain began to pour down and it felt like the earth shook.  She felt a great imbalance, but where, and how?  She touched both of her ears and she could feel her miraculous still there, Tikki even poked her head out from her bag with a look of fear.  A shiver ran down Marinette’s spine as rain came pouring down soaking everything in sight.  She looked around, and she kept spinning searching for something, anything that could have caused or been affected by the imbalance.  She waited there for many minutes just waiting, when she felt the dirt beneath her feet begin to shift a little.  She quickly moved away and watched as the dirt slowly moved and shifted.  She felt sick, because the dirt moving was directly where Jason was lying in eternal rest.  This couldn’t be right, this must be some mistake!  Her brother had died, she had seen the body, it haunted her nightmares for so many nights.  He’s been gone for five years!  This can’t be possible without some type of wish.
The grass began to move and shift away, and a fleshy mud covered hand raised from the ground causing a scream to rip from her lungs.  Her body sprung into action before her mind caught up to her beginning to help dig up her brother's grave, and when she saw the jet black hair covered in dirt and mud she knew that it was him.  She heaved him out from the hole and stared in shocked horror as he just sat there staring at her.  His eyes were the same blue she remembered, but they were so clouded.  Fear, confusion, and nothing shown in his eyes, like he wasn’t even truly there.  This must be a dream, it has to be, no, a nightmare.  Her brother shouldn’t be back, he died, she saw his limp body in dad’s hands, even if Alfred and bluebird tried to stop her.  But the imbalance was real, she could tell, and he was affected by it.
Slowly she raised her hand and hesitantly placed a hand on his cheek.  He leaned into her hand, though his eyes were still clouded and void.  He may be alive, but he wasn’t fully…alive.  She tackled her older brother into a hug and began sobbing onto him, but just sat there, head leaning against hers.  Pressing her ear against his chest she could hear his gentle heartbeat, and just for a moment everything seemed like it would be ok.  Then she felt a sharp prick in her neck and the world faded to black.
________
Marinette awoke to darkness.  She tried to sit up and felt her hands held behind her back being held together by something cold and thick.  Memories flooded back into her mind and she snapped into awareness and looked around.  It was dark, though there was a small light coming from a window far above where she could not ever reach.  The walls seemed to be made of thick stones and there was a heavy iron door a few feet in front of her.  Jason wasn’t there though, he wasn’t in the room, she didn’t understand.  Suddenly the door opened and she looked up and saw her mother’s green eyes.  Her panic grew again, how did she get here, was she captured too?  She had visited her often in Paris.  She was very vague about her job, and she knew it was probably sketchy, but could it be bad enough to be captured?
“Marinette, My Darling.  I apologize for your treatment, I did not realize that you were part of this.”
Talia rushed towards her daughter and unlocked the chains.  She was pulled into a tight hug that Marinette quickly returned.  After a few moments she pulled away but held her shoulders gently.
“I must show you something, come.”
Talia quickly stood and helped her daughter to her feet and walked swiftly through the calls of Nanda Parabat.
“What is mom?”
Talia smiled at that, she had always loved when her daughter called her that.
“It’s a surprise, My Flower.”
A few more twists though hallways and they stopped in front of a thick wooden door.
“I want you to meet someone.”
The door was pushed open and there sat a small baby in a crip with dark black hair, tanned skin, and dark green eyes.  Marinette gasped and covered her mouth,
“Meet your brother, Damian.”
Marinette slowly walked over and stared at Damian through the top of the crib.  He silently watched and studied her without making a sound.
“He’s about 3 months old.”
Talia said, smiling happily as she watched her daughter run her fingers through Damian’s small tresses of hair.  With a snap of her finger one of her shadows stepped next to her.
“Bring Jason.”
And with that order they were gone returning a few minutes later with a boy who was alive physically, but was mentally gone.  She could fix that though, it would be the last resort if all else failed, but she could fix it.  Marinette looked up when she heard Jason’s footsteps and her bright smile fell slightly into a small sad one.
“Jay-Jay.”
She whispered softly as she took slow steps towards the boy.  She quickly ran and hugged him again.  He no longer smelled like mud and he wasn’t wearing his suit, and he was….he was alive again!  Tears fell down her cheeks, because she missed him so much.
________
Marinette stayed with her mom in what she learned was Nanda Parabat.  She trained with Jason, but he was catatonic, just going through the motions blankly.  It worried her, especially as she watched her mother grow more anxious.  She cared for her little brother, and wondered if her dad knew, or if he would even care.  She often looked at Paris news for when she needed to go for Akuma attacks, but if her host parents even realized she was gone.  They hadn’t, nor had any of her “friends” apparently as they hadn’t sent her a single thing from the weeks she’s been gone.
Marinette knew that Nada Parabat wasn’t a good place, knew that the people were bad, knew that her grandfather was the head of it.  He didn’t seem to care who she was, he just thought she was some nurse for Damian, and she was thankful for that.  She knew that the Lazarus Pits were here, what they did, how they were made, how her grandfather used them for selfish purposes.  She didn’t do anything though, she was mad at her father for sending her away, mad that he adopted a bee kid only a year after he sent her away, mad that he never talked to her, mad that Dick never fought for her or looked for her, mad that Jason was forced to wake up and climb his way out of his grave only to be practically brain dead, mad that her classmates believed lies over her, mad that her host parents believed them and treated her like dirt or an invisible object meant to seen and not heard, mad that Chat Noir would leave her during battles because she didn’t return his affections, and mad that no one cared that she was gone!  So she trained as hard as she could, made sure that she perfected everything her mother threw at her.  Took care of her family and made sure they knew how thankful she was for them and loved them.  Then when she finally got a text from someone it was insults for being a horrible person and hurting Lila when she hadn’t been there for weeks!
She threw her phone at the wall and the crack echoed around the room.  Her breathing was harsh and ragged and then the tears she had been holding back finally fell.  Sobs wracked her body as she bit her lip to keep silent.  She tried to take in deep shuddering breaths, but it was no use and the sobs came out.  Her knees felt weak and she crumpled to the ground.  The door burst open and she saw her mom there knife in hand looking around the room with swift deadly eyes.  When she didn’t see any visible threats she kneeled in front of her daughter and looked directly into her eyes.  Eyes a storming blue that flooded with tears and made her heart ache and her want to murder whoever made her precious daughter look so broken.
“My Flower, what’s wrong?”
“N-nobody cares ab-about me!  No one cares that I’m g-gone.  Everyb-body hates me, and I’m so tired of it!  I’ll n-never be enough for an-anybody and I’m t-trying so h-hard to do wh-what everyone needs or exp-ects me to be!”
Marinette stuttered out between sobs.  Talia glared at that and felt anger at Bruce.  She thought that he at least checked in with her every once in a while.  She had guessed wrong then.  She pulled her daughter into a hug and let her cry against her shoulder.
“Shh, shh.  It’s okay.  You are perfect the way you are Marinette.  You don’t have to prove anything to me.  You’re such a good sister, you train so hard, and you have so many amazing skills and talents.  You are enough, don’t let anyone say anything different.”
Marinette gripped onto her mom and they both just sat there in silence as Marinette finally just cried.  After who knows how long Marinette gently pushed away and looked her mom directly in the eyes with complete seriousness said,
“I want you to help me fake my death.  If everyone wants to pretend I’m gone or wants me to disappear, then fine.  I will.  I don’t want to be seen anymore.”
Talia stared at her daughter in shock for a moment then gave her a small smile.
“It will be done my dear, you will be free.”
“Thank you mom.”

Stalker - Terry McGinnis x Reader
Tumblr media
Trigger Warning - Stalker Behavior, Darker Themes
Requested by Anon - Can I request one where Terry finds out his s/o has a stalker?
***
You shivered, standing outside of school. It was a cool spring day. You wished you had worn your jacket, but the sun shining through your bedroom window this morning made you too optimistic about the weather.
“Come on, Ter. Where are you?” you whispered, jumping up and down to warm up a little. The school bell rang. You sighed. “Late again.” You turned around to enter when a warm jacket suddenly wrapped around your shoulders.
“I’m not late. Just almost late.” Terry chuckled in your ear. He kissed your cheek before moving ahead to open the door for you.
“For once.” You winked at him, sliding your arms into his jacket. “Come on, we’re going to be late for Literature.”
Terry groaned, running a hand through his hair. “What’s the reading we had to do for today?”
“The Yellow Wallpaper.” You sneaked a sniff of his jacket, enjoying his scent. Terry rubbed his eyes and missed it. “I’ll catch you up. We’re just supposed to be in discussion groups.” The two of you strolled down the hall, tempting fate as the final bell was about to ring.
“Lucky I have you, babe. I think I’d have to drop out by now if I didn’t.” Terry wrapped his arm around your shoulders. You leaned into him, still snug in his jacket.
“I doubt that. You’d just actually have to do your homework.” You caught his lips in a quick kiss before you both entered the classroom just as the bell rang.
***
You walked alone to the elementary school to pick up your younger siblings and Terry’s little brother, Matt. Terry’s mom and your parents paid you the big creds to babysit them every day after school. It was actually how you met Terry in the first place.
Terry would usually try to walk with you until you met up with the kids, but today Mr. Wayne needed him earlier than normal. You pulled his jacket closer, only realizing now that you still had it. Oops. You shrugged, smiling to yourself when you got a whiff of Terry from the jacket.
As you neared the elementary school, a shiver ran up your spine when you heard footsteps behind you. “Excuse me,” someone said from behind you. You turned, holding your bag tighter.
It was an older man, maybe mid-forties. He ran up to you. His hair was oily and his face was breaking out in hives. “Can I help you?” you asked. Something felt off about him. You took an involuntary step back when he stopped before you.
“You dropped this.” He held out keychain with a batman symbol on it.
“Oh thank you.” You gasped, holding out your hand. He dropped it into your palm after a pause. “I can’t believe I lost it. It must have broke.”
He nodded, smiling as he stared at you. “You’re welcome.”
You waited for him to leave, but he didn’t move. Just staring. Your stomach twisted, nerves on end. “Well, I better get going. Thanks again.” You turned and hurried away with your hand clenched around the keychain. Terry had given it to you. You usually had it on your bag. Once you turned the corner and were in front of the elementary school with a crowd of people, you opened your hand to check the keychain.
Your blood ran cold when you saw it wasn’t broken. How would it have fallen off if it didn’t break? You checked your bag, heart pounding when you saw your keychain was still attached.  Your thumb ran across the one in your hand, noting it didn’t have the scratches yours had.
“Creepy.” You glanced over your shoulder, relieved that the man wasn’t in sight. Maybe it was a mistake? Maybe it wasn’t as creepy as you were thinking? You swallowed hard and tossed the keychain into the nearby garbage can.
Matt and your siblings ran up to you, chattering away. You gathered them up and led them toward home. However, the entire way, you felt you were being watched.
***
“What’s wrong?” Terry frowned at you, noting how you clung to his arm as the two of you slowly stepped onto the tram.
“Nothing’s wrong.” You let go of his arm, crossing your arms tightly. Terry led you over to a seat.
Terry sighed. He rolled his eyes. “You been like this all week. (Y/N), what’s wrong?” He sat down beside you. You scooted closer to him.
You glanced around nervously. “I’m fine, Ter. I just want to get home.”
“Okay.” Terry frowned and wrapped an arm around your shoulders. “I just thought you wanted to spend time with me.”
“I do.” You smiled at him. It wasn’t a real smile. Terry kissed your temple. “I’m not feeling all that great today. We can hang out at my house. My siblings are at my grandparents this weekend anyway.”
“That would be great.” Terry felt you relax, closing your eyes as you laid your head against his shoulder. He pushed his worries aside. You probably weren’t feeling well like you said. It was probably nothing. He relaxed himself, keeping you close just in case.
***
You stared at the keychain lying on your doorstep. Your blood ran cold with terror. It was the same batman keychain, brand new, matching the one on your bag. Your siblings were a few feet behind you as you had rushed ahead to quickly get into your house where you were safe. Clearly, it wasn’t safe anymore.
“Wow, a batman keychain,” Matt said, moving around you to pick it up.
“Hey (Y/N), it matches yours,” your sibling said, giggling.
“Terry must have left it.” Matt made a face. “Gross.”
“Yeah, he must have.” You painted a fake smile on your face and took the keychain from Matt. “Come on, let’s get inside. I’ll let you have whatever you want for a snack.”
The kids cheered and rushed inside once you unlocked the door. You hurried after and slammed the door shut, clicking the lock. The feeling of uneasiness didn’t leave you.
***
“Terrance!” Bruce’s voice echoed through Terry’s ears. He jerked the batmobile into a climb to avoid crashing straight into a building.
“Okay, okay. We’re fine.” Terry chuckled nervously, shaking his head.
“If you crash it, you buy it.” Bruce growled. “Pay attention!”
Terry cleared his throat, turning to fly the batmobile for another lap of the city. He flew over your house and scanned the place. Everything was fine. However, the light in your room was still on. Terry glanced at the clock. It was two in the morning. “Bruce, I’m going to make a quick stop.”
“This is no time for social calls.” Bruce’s voice sharpened.
“How about you keep an ear on the police scanner like you always do and let me know if I need to go anywhere?” Terry smirked when Bruce huffed and clicked off. “Got ya.” He flew out of the batmobile and glided toward your house. Terry balanced himself on the sill of your window.
You were in bed with the covers pulled over your head. Terry opened your window silently and stepped inside. “(Y/N).” You sat up suddenly and screamed at the sight of him. Terry’s eyes widened. He pulled off his mask. “Honey, it’s me. Hush.”
You slapped a hand over your mouth, gasping for breath. The blood drained out of your face. Terry swore, shutting the window behind him and ducking into the closet as your family tore into the room.
It took several long minutes for your family to leave. Terry waited, hoping Bruce didn’t catch how badly he scared you. He leaned against the wall of your closet. His mask twisted in his fist.
The closet door opened a few minutes after the room went quiet. “I’m sorry.” You hugged him, burying your face into his chest. “You scared me.”
“I’m sorry I scared you.” Terry kissed the top of your head. “I saw your light was on, so I’d thought I would stop by.”
You jerked away from him, blood draining out of your face. “No, no, no,” you whispered, running to the window and quickly shutting the curtains.
Terry rushed to your side. “Babe, what’s wrong?” He laid a hand on your shoulder. “Why are you so scared?”
You looked at him, tears filling your eyes. Terry felt like he got punched in the gut. “I don’t want to talk about it. Please just hold me.” You hugged him so tight, he thought he might bruise.
“Okay, okay.” Terry hugged you back. He gently rocked you, still confused and concerned. Part of him wanted to demand you to explain, but seeing how upset you were, he couldn’t do it. So he let it go and held you until you fell asleep.
Terry gently tucked you into bed and turned off your light. He pressed a kiss to your forehead before slipping out the window, making sure to shut it securely behind him. “Bruce, you there?”
“Are you ready to get back to work?” Bruce’s tone edged toward scolding. Terry rolled his eyes.
“I am.” He wanted to talk about your strange behavior, but he stopped himself. Bruce doesn’t know anything about relationships anyway. He’d be no help. Terry rocketed into the sky to catch the batmobile as it went by on autopilot.
***
“Terry!” Max ran through the hall, bumping people out of the way to reach him. Terry turned to look at her, alarmed. “Come quick!”
“Where?” Terry grunted when Max grabbed his sore arm and tugged him down the hall. Max was leading him toward the school’s office. “What’s wrong?”
“It’s (Y/N). We were outside for gym class and they collapsed.” Max panted. It was only at that moment that Terry realized Max was in her gym clothes. Bruce was right, his detective skills really did need work.
His blood ran cold. “Collapsed? Are they okay?!” Max led him into the nurse’s office. Terry ran ahead and opened a curtain to find you shaking, gasping for breath as you curled up into a ball on the bed. The school nurse seemed lost. “(Y/N), sweetheart, I’m here.” Terry sank down beside the bed, wrapping his arms around you.
You looked at him, pupils dilated, eyes wide. “I...I...can...can’t breathe.” Tears ran down your cheeks.
“(Y/N), you need to calm down. Breathe with me.” He took a slow deep breath, looking you in the eye as he rubbed your back. You struggled at first, but eventually you slowed your breathing down with his. Terry could feel your heart calming down.
The school nurse said something about getting you some water and a snack, leaving you, Terry, and Max alone. “I’m sorry,” you said, leaning over to bury your face into Terry’s shoulder.
Terry shared a look with Max. “Okay, (Y/N). Something is clearly wrong. You got to tell us and don’t say it’s nothing,” Max began, sitting on foot of the bed. You pulled away from Terry, sniffling and grabbing a tissue from the box nearby. Terry took your hand, squeezing it gently.
“Okay, alright.” You closed your eyes and took a shaky breath. “I think I have a stalker.”
Terry’s stomach dropped as ice cold horror washed over him. “What?!” You flinched at his tone. Max glared at him, poking him.
“Calm down, Ter. Let (Y/N) explain.” Max turned back to you. “Why do you think you have a stalker?”
The nurse came back with water and a packet of crackers. She smiled when she saw you were calm. “Eat and drink, we’ll see how you feel. Terry and Max, you can stay with (Y/N). I’ll let your teachers know.” You took a sip of water once the nurse left again.
“Slag it. (Y/N), tell us what happened.” Terry’s hands shook. You looked at him, taking a deep breath.
“Okay. It started a month ago...”
“A month? This has been going on for a month?!” Terry got to his feet. The terror going straight to his head.
“Terry, sit down and shut up.” Max punched his arm. Terry flinched before forcing himself to sit on the edge of the bed.
You blinked back tears. “I...It started when I was walking to the elementary school to pick up the kids. You weren’t with me, Ter. Mr. Wayne needed you that day. I felt like someone was watching me and then someone ran up behind me. It was an older man. He handed me a batman keychain like the one you gave me, Ter, and I thought it was mine. I thanked him, but he just stared at me.” You shivered. Terry wrapped his arm around you, his heart threatening to burst out of his chest. “It creeped me out, so I left. It was then I realized that the keychain wasn’t mine. It was brand new and my keychain was still on my bag.”
Max and Terry tensed. “That is creepy,” Max whispered, reaching out to pat your hand.
“I threw it away, but I felt like I’ve been watched ever since.” You swallowed hard. Rogue tears slipped down your cheeks. Terry wiped them away with his thumb. “More keychains keep popping up wherever I go. There was even one on my front doorstep. I’m so scared all the time. That’s why I screamed when you visited me last night, Ter. I thought someone was breaking in to get me.” Your entire body trembled. “Even during gym class, there was one in my spot on the bench. That’s why I freaked out.”
“Why did you not tell me?” Terry soothed, pushing down his anger and terror. It wouldn’t help you.
“I didn’t want you to worry. Besides, I was hoping it was nothing, but it’s not. It can’t be.” You burst into tears again. Terry pulled you into his chest, sharing another look with Max.
“I’ll go see if I can find the keychain outside,” Max whispered to Terry. She slipped out of the room.
Terry sighed. “You’ll be fine, (Y/N). I’ll protect you. Whoever this is, they won’t get you.”
You grabbed at his jacket tightly. “Okay.” You sniffled. “Do you think they’ll let me go home? I just want to be home now, Ter.”
“I’ll go ask if I can take you home.” He pulled away from you. “Just relax.” You settled down on the bed, drinking the water the nurse brought you.
Terry clenched his hands into fists. His heart burned at the thought you were in danger and he didn’t even notice. Something bad could have happened because he didn’t get the answer to your strange behavior before. He swallowed hard, going to the school nurse to talk about being able to take you home. Hopefully, Max will find that keychain for him before he left. It was time for him to use his detective skills. You needed him to.
***
“What are you doing?” Bruce asked, walking over to Terry as Terry stared at the batcomputer. Terry was running scans on the keychain Max had recovered from the school. He hated to leave you, but Max was with you, helping you watch your siblings and Matt while also keeping you safe.
“(Y/N) has a stalker.” Terry slammed his fist against the computer when the keychain came up with nothing. “Slag it!”
Bruce raised an eyebrow. Ace barked at him in warning. Terry forced himself to relax, rubbing his chin to think. “What do we know?” Bruce’s tone became more serious. Terry looked up to find Bruce studying the results.
“This is a dead end. The guy didn’t leave anything on the keychain and (Y/N) didn’t keep the others.” Terry sighed. He ran a hand over his face. “There’s got to be a way to catch this dreg before he does something to (Y/N). (Y/N)’s already scared out of their mind.”
Bruce huffed. “You need to think less directly, McGinnis.” He gestured for Terry to get out of the chair. Terry stood up, sighing as Bruce took the seat and started working on the batcomputer. “Do you know where these keychains are sold?”
“I bought (Y/N)’s at the mall. There was a kiosk selling all these retro keychains.” Terry blinked. “Do you think we could hack into the mall’s security footage and see who was buying them?”
Bruce’s mouth twitched into almost a smirk. “Yes.”
“(Y/N) gave me this.” Terry pressed a button to bring up your description of the man you first encountered. “This is the man who gave them the keychain the first time.”
“Interesting.” Bruce hacked into the security and brought up footage of the kiosk. “What day did (Y/N) have the first encounter?”
Terry rubbed his chin. “About a month ago.” He shook his head. “I’m such a dreg for not noticing sooner. They are so scared.”
“Focus, Terrence.” Bruce frowned as the security footage fast forwarded until it stopped when it caught a person buying several batman keychains all at once. “It looks like we found our person.”
“Wait.” Terry leaned forward to study the person. “Oh my god, I know them. They go to our school, but (Y/N) was approached by an old man with the first keychain?”
Bruce hummed. “They probably paid the man to deliver it.” The computer popped up with the person’s school record. “Their name is Tay Diabolos. Seems like they have a shaky school attendance record and their grades are worse than yours.”
“Geez, thanks.” Terry frowned. “But (Y/N) hasn’t had any interaction with them as far as I know. They would have told me if they were being weird.”
“Sometimes that doesn’t matter.” Bruce brought up Tay’s address. “Go to their home, see what you can find. Don’t engage them. We’ll need to do this carefully.” Bruce glared at Terry. Terry just blushed. “I will run more tests on this keychain. My gut is telling me there is something we’re missing.”
“Mine too.” Terry patted Ace’s head before running off to get on his suit. Bruce watched him go. Ace barked, butting his head against Bruce’s leg.
“I know. He’s probably going to make a mess of it.” Bruce scratched Ace’s ear and turned to examine the keychain in ways Terry didn’t even think of.
***
Terry turned on his optical camouflage as he neared the run-down part of Neo-Gotham. He swallowed hard, pushing aside his fear for you. Max already called him to reassure him you were fine, but his stomach was twisted in knots.
He landed on the roof of an old house that must have been built around the time Bruce was young. A smirk pulled at Terry’s lips as he thought that it was probably over a hundred years old.
“Are you at the address yet?” Bruce’s voice suddenly filled his ear. Terry jumped, thankful Bruce wasn’t able to read minds.
“Just arrived.” Terry climbed down and opened the second story window. “I got nothing on my heat scans, so no one is home.”
Bruce grunted. “I told you not to rely on that too much. There are ways to cheat the scan.”
“It’s fine.” Terry looked around the empty room he entered. He went over the door and opened it. The hallway was dirty, covered in beer cans and stains. “Looks like a party house of some sort.”
“I found a micro tracer on the keychain. It’s cheap, only a range of two miles if even.” Bruce hummed. “He was attempting to track (Y/N). Are you sure (Y/N) never kept the keychains?”
“Yeah, they threw them away because it freaked them out. The only one still around is the one we have.” Terry’s eyes widened. “Wait, did you deactivate the tracer?”
Bruce snorted. “Of course.” Terry moved deeper into the house, following the light that peeked under one of the doors. “Remember do not engage, McGinnis. This is recon only.”
Terry didn’t respond as he peeked into the room. His heart spasmed in terror when his eyes fell onto a wall covered in pictures of you. A few were your school photos, but most were taken without your knowledge. Terry touched one that was you walking home with your siblings. “Are you seeing this?”
“This has been going on longer than we thought.” Bruce sighed deeply.
“Oh no, no, no.” Terry’s blood ran cold when he saw strands of your hair pinned to the wall. “The dreg has (Y/N)’s hair.” His hand clenched into a fist, rage pounded into his chest.
“Terrance, calm down. Remember this is recon.” Bruce’s voice was so calm. Terry wanted to snap back at him, but snapping at Bruce never did any good. “Is there any sign of plans?”
Terry shook his head, clearing the red rage from his vision. He let out a slow breath. “No, this looks more like a shrine to (Y/N).” Terry knelt down to access the computer on the floor next to the shrine. One tap, and he gave Bruce remote access.
“It looks like they ordered flowers for (Y/N) tomorrow.” Bruce’s rapid typing filled Terry’s ears. Terry felt sick to his stomach.
“That’s it. I got to go be with (Y/N). This freak is going to do something.” Terry got to his feet. He froze when he heard a door open downstairs. “Slag it. Someone’s home now.”
“Get out of there. I’ll search the computer some more.” Bruce clicked off. Terry shivered, eyeing the shrine of you one more time before slipping out of the window and rocketing into the sky.
***
“Terry, are you sure? Doesn’t Mr. Wayne need you today?” You asked, wrapping a blanket around yourself as you curled up on your couch in your living room. The window curtains were all tightly closed.
“No, he doesn’t, and my mom called the school to get me off today too.” Terry sat down next to you, pulling you into his arms. “I’m here to stay.”
You had stayed home from school once you explained to your parents what was happening. They called the police, but of course, they couldn’t do anything since Tay hadn’t actually done anything. Terry could see the trembling of your hands, how the color drained from your face. This was making you sick.
“Thanks Ter.” You relaxed into him. “I hate this. Why did this person have to do this to me?”
“They’re sick.” Terry bit his lips. “(Y/N), do you know someone named Tay Diabolos?”
You blinked. “Yeah, they go to our school. I had science with them before they got kicked out for mixing cleaners and almost killing the class with the fumes.” You looked up at Terry curiously. “Don’t you remember? I had to go to the hospital with Blade and Zip. We got the worst of it.”
Terry’s eyes widened. “Wait, isn’t that when I got you the keychain? I picked you up from the hospital and took you to the mall where we got it from...that’s it!” Terry got to his feet suddenly. Your eyes widened at the sight.
“What’s it?” You bit your lip.
“The connection. I was trying to think why. I couldn’t remember why Tay would start doing this.” Terry sank down to kneel on the floor beside you. “That must have been the event to start their obsession.”
“Obsession?” Terry could see the terror wash over you. Right, he didn’t tell you about the shrine he found.
“Nothing, don’t worry about it.” Terry took your hand. “I’ll handle it, okay?”
“Okay.” You gave Terry a weak smile as you squeezed his hand. “Just be careful.”
“Always.” Terry leaned forward to kiss your lips sweetly. For the first time in a long time, you seem relieved.
***
“I think I should fly down there and scare them away from (Y/N),” Terry said as he paced the cave. Bruce and Ace sat by the batcomputer, watching him.
“Ter, you know that will cause more problems. How does Batman know Tay is stalking a classmate? Why is Batman involving himself in a stalker case?,” Max said, eyeing the huge cave around her. It took a long time, but Bruce finally let her into the cave. She wandered over to look at the old costumes display. Bruce eyed her with slight disapproval.
“True.” Bruce stuck his cane out and tapped Terry’s leg.
Terry stopped pacing, crossing his arms. “I was thinking I would confront him as myself.”
“No. That will just make things worse.” Max snapped and turned to look at Terry with wide eyes. “Clearly, Tay was triggered by seeing you with (Y/N). That’s the reason for the keychains. They must have seen you buy one for (Y/N).”
“Then what am I supposed to do?! This is killing (Y/N)! I’m sick and tired of seeing them scared out of their mind!” Terry threw his hands up in the air. Ace barked at him, nervous from his outburst.
“Calm down, McGinnis,” Bruce said sternly, turning around in his chair to study the computer. “We need to go through normal channels. I’ve spoke to Barbara Gordon, she says she can help (Y/N) get a restraining order, but we need evidence first.”
“Aren’t the keychains enough?” Max asked, coming to Bruce’s side to watch the security footage of your house. They had installed it just in case.
Bruce shook his head. “No, (Y/N) threw most of them away. Besides, there is no evidence that Tay gave them the keychains. They covered their tracks well.”
A groan came from Terry as he pulled at his hair. His phone beeped. He picked up the phone once he saw it was you. The sound of your tears met his ear, his blood turned to ice water.
“Terry, there’s a message on our machine,” you whispered. Your voice breaking with a sob. “It’s from Tay. He said he left a present for me outside...”
“It’s okay. Just have everyone stay inside.” Terry ran over to the batcomputer, having to focus to keep his voice calm and even. Max and Bruce watched in concern when Terry had the batcomputer zoom in on the footage of your front step to show another batman keychain lying there.
“Oh my god.” Max gasped. “But we were watching the whole time.”
Bruce hummed, a scowl on his face. He reached over to pet Ace, who was getting jumpy from the energy of the room. “Terry, I can’t live like this anymore,” you said.
“Hush. I’ll take care of it. I swear.” Terry’s heart was ready to pound out of his chest. He wanted to fly over to Tay’s house and beat the life out of him. “Just stay inside. Leave the keychain where it’s at. I’ll be there soon.”
“Okay.” You hung up the phone, but not before Terry heard a full out sob burst out of you.
“I think I have an idea.” Bruce got to his feet and walked over to the workbench to get his pill bottle. Terry stared at his phone, lost in his own tortured imagination. “We need to get Tay off the streets, and the best way to do that is to catch them for another crime.”
“Another crime?” Max put her hands on her hips. “But isn’t harassing (Y/N) enough?”
Bruce grunted. “No. Harassment is messy. It rarely sticks unless you have hard evidence which we don’t have.” Bruce leaned on his cane as he picked up his pills and swallowed them dry.
Terry stuck his phone back in his pocket. “You have a plan I assume?” He ran over to the changing area to switch into his suit.
“I do. From what I seen in the vid from your search of Tay’s home, I saw evidence of slappers.” Bruce walked back to the batcomputer and sat down.
“Oh, so we get Tay for drug possession, which should get them away from (Y/N).” Max grinned. “Sway idea, Mr. Wayne.”
“Yeah, sway.” Terry ran out of the changing area in full Batman mode. He hopped into the batmobile. “Keep me updated on what I need to do, but I have to check on (Y/N) first.”  The batmobile zoomed off.
***
After Terry made sure your house was secure and you were calmed down, he followed Bruce’s lead to Tay’s house once again. “What’s your plan?”
“Find evidence of slappers in Tay’s house, make probable cause for the police to enter,” Bruce said firmly. “If we can get Tay on drug possession charges, they can get off the streets and get the help they need.”
“And (Y/N) will finally feel safe again.” Terry rocketed out of the batmobile and landed on the roof of the house next door. “There’s a party going on.” Tay’s house was raging, filling with people drinking, laughing, dancing. Loud music boomed out of the opened windows.
“This might be to our advantage. The noise alone will be probable cause.” Bruce hummed. “But we need to make sure the police find the slapper evidence and connect it to Tay.”
Terry grunted, turning on his optical camouflage and glided toward the house. He slipped through the open window, avoid the people in the room as he slipped through the open door to the hallway. It took him a full minute to get into the room where the shrine was since a couple was making out against it. They finally moved and Terry slipped inside.
Tay was in the room, luckily facing away from the door and didn’t see it seemly open on it’s own. It took every ounce of will for Terry not to rip into them when he saw them adding another photo to the shrine. He paled when it was a photo of your bedroom window, showing you hugging Terry with Terry still clearly in his batsuit.
“Damn,” Terry whispered under his breath. Suddenly, a smirk pulled at his lips. He turned off his camouflage.
“Terry, what are you doing?” Bruce asked sharply.
“Tay Diabolos.” A wave of satisfaction washed over Terry when Tay jerked, turning around in surprise. “I need to have a word with you.”
Tay laughed. “You think I’m scared, Terry McGinnis.” Tay pulled out a gun, aiming it at Terry’s chest. “You aren’t good enough for (Y/N).”
“You think I’m Terry McGinnis?” Terry laughed darkly. “You aren’t very smart, but then again, you wouldn’t be if you can’t notice what you’re doing to (Y/N) is criminal.”
“Don’t mock me!” Tay fired the gun. Terry easily dodged by stepping aside.
“Careful of the civilians around you, Terry. I’ll make an anonymous call to the police,” Bruce said. The slight approval in Bruce’s voice made Terry’s heart soar.
Terry shot out a batarang and knocked the gun from Tay’s hand. “Leave (Y/N) alone.” He marched forward, picking Tay up by the front of their shirt. “If I ever see you even look at them again, I’ll pound you into the pavement. The police would have to take a DNA test to identify your body.”
“You won’t stop me.” Tay spit in Terry’s face. Terry held back a flinch. “I’ll be with (Y/N). I love them more than you ever could, McGinnis.”
Terry grunted and dropped Tay only to throw a quick jab at their jaw. Tay dropped like a pile of bricks.
“Well, you certainly made a mess now.” Bruce’s voice filled Terry’s ears.
“We’ll figure it out. The suit can still be on autopilot mode, right?” Terry took the photo of himself and you and slipped it into his pocket.
Bruce hummed. “Yes, but you’ll need to move fast. The police are incoming.”
Terry grunted, climbing out the window of the room and flying through the air toward your house.
***
“I’m telling you the truth! Terry McGinnis is Batman!” Tay shouted, fighting against the restraints as the cops tried to put him into the car. Barbara put her hands in her pockets and glanced back at Batman who stood a few feet away.
“Right.” Another car pulled up and Terry exited. Barbara smiled. “And how is it he can be in two places at once?”
The blood drained out of Tay’s face as they looked between Terry and Batman. “It’s a trick! He planned this! I’ll get (Y/N) away from you! I swear it!”
“Enough.” The cops pushed Tay into the car and slammed the door to lock him inside.
Barbara patted Terry’s shoulder as Batman suddenly rocketed off into the sky into the waiting batmobile. “Tay won’t be bothering (Y/N) anytime soon. We have enough evidence to keep him in juvie for quite some time.”
“And the evidence for the restraining order?” Terry asked, biting his lip to keep from smirking in delight. The cops drove Tay away. Their shouts could still be heard through the vehicle.
“Being processed. We’ll hand it over to (Y/N)’s lawyer in the morning.” Barbara sighed. “I’ll let you deliver the news to (Y/N).”
“Thanks.” Terry hopped back into the car and drove back to your place.
“So it worked?” Bruce asked through the comlink in Terry’s ear. “And slow down, that’s my car you’re driving.”
Terry laughed. “It worked. Tay looked crazy.” He bit his lip, slowing down a bit. “Did the suit get back to the cave alright?”
“Yes, it just arrived with the batmobile. I’ll shut down autopilot mode.” Bruce hummed. “I assume you’re going to (Y/N)’s.”
“Of course.” Terry’s foot hit the gas again. “I’ll check in tomorrow.”
Bruce grunted. “Right.” He hung up bluntly as he always did. Terry shook his head, unable to keep the grin off his face.
***
You shivered, pulling your jacket tighter around you. Taking a step outside your front door, you sighed in relief when you weren’t frozen from anxiety.
“Hey, sweetheart,” Terry said, running up the steps to you. You laughed and jumped into his arms.
“Hey yourself.” Terry spun you around. You screamed when he almost toppled down the stairs. “Are you ready for the club?”
“I am.” Your face hurt from how much you were smiling. “I want to dance the night away.”
Terry ran down the stairs with you still in his arms. “Sway, because I’m ready to dance with you all night too.”
“Put me down.” You patted his shoulders. Terry set you down, keeping his arm around your waist. You kissed his cheek as you both started down the street. “And thank you.”
“For what?” Terry smirked at you. His hand squeezed your hip.
You looked into his eyes. “Oh, you know.” The words didn’t dare leave your lips, keeping the fear at bay.
Terry smiled before kissing you passionately on the lips. You melted into him, content and safe in his arms.

Once again you turn around under the blankets, only to feel another shiver run down your spine. You should have brought warm pajamas.
You had figured going on a holiday in the midst of the summer would mean sun and temperatures above at least 20 degrees. You were right. It was quite warm… during the day, but you what did you didn’t take into account, while packing, was how cold it would get in the evenings…
*** Friday
09:00 am
It was quite hectic, going on a vacation with the Avengers. You went by each room to wake everyone up. It took half an hour for everyone to take place at the table for breakfast. You had already woken up at 7 am to bake pancakes with fruit and maple syrup. Once everyone sat down you all had breakfast. Clint was pleasantly surprised by the pancakes and let out a high-pitched shriek, causing Thor to grumble something in his morning mood. He was obviously used to sleeping in as the king of Asgard. Or well, he actually wasn’t king of Asgard anymore, he had passed the throne onto Valkyrie… Anyway, king or not, there was packing to do. After you all finished breakfast another thirty minutes had passed and you sent everyone to their rooms with the order to pack some clothes.
10:00 am
You had already packed your clothes and so you printed out the list of other items you would need on your vacation. You divided the list into different sections so you could give everyone their own task. You gave Natasha and Pepper the job to take care of the kitchen-supplies. Tony, Bruce, Clint and Thor got a two-page list of groceries. Bucky, Steve and Sam would take care of the medical supplies and oversee the packing of the bus. No, not the SHIELD plane, an actual bus. You figured it wouldn’t be very discreet to land a quinjet in the middle of caravans and campers, if it was even possible.
Natasha and Pepper were done early, so they packed a suitcase with extra blankets, DVD’s, boardgames and outdoor games, like badminton and a volleyball.
14:00 pm
It took a few hours, but you were all done. The suitcases and bags were carefully loaded into the bus by Steve and Bucky. Sam didn’t really help at all, he was just standing there, with a bag in his hand, staring at Bucky.
“Hey, Birdie!” You called at him, slightly startling him.
“Stop daydreaming and hand the bag to Bucky.” Sam tried to hide his red face, while handing Bucky the bag.
15:00 pm
Everything was loaded into the bus and you were ready to leave. Tired, you sat down to drink some coffee before you would depart. Natasha joined you, sitting down in the chair next to you.
“Tired already?” She chuckled.
“Yeah.” You smirked, holding your coffee mug with both hands, closing your eyes as you took in the peace.
17:00 pm
It was a two-hour drive to the campsite and by the time you got there, everyone was exhausted. Since nobody was in the mood to cook, Natasha and you decided to get take-away Chinese. After you finished dinner, you went to read in your book in the evening
gloom.
You had rented two safari tents for the eight of you. The first tent consisted of two bedrooms, one room with a double bed and one room with two bunkbeds. The tent also had a bathroom with a double sink, a dining/living room and a small kitchen block.
You slept in the first tent, in the lower half in one of the bunkbeds. Above you slept Steve and in the bunkbed on the other side of the room laid Thor and Bruce. Bucky and Sam shared the double bed in the other room. At first, they protested, but you knew they actually liked each other a lot, so they eventually gave in.
The second tent had three rooms. One room with a double bed and two rooms with a singular bed. Tony and Pepper shared the double bed, obviously, leaving Natasha and Clint with a room of their own.
*** Present
So there you laid. You went to bed two hours ago, but couldn’t fall asleep because of the cold. When you arrived, only the most important stuff was unpacked, since almost everyone was tired and hungry. That meant that the suitcase with the extra blankets was in the other tent and if you wanted a blanket you had to go outside, walk through the cold and risk waking up everyone. You shifted in your bed for a few more minutes, convincing yourself it wasn’t that cold. After ten minutes you gave up and decided you would take the. You couldn’t possibly toss and turn all night. You quietly laid the sheets aside and tried not to pay attention to the cold. You picked up your flipflops in one hand, while quietly leaving the tent on your toes. Once you were outside you realized you were holding your breath. You slipped into your flipflops, so your feet wouldn’t get wet from the grass and made your way over to the other tent. The cold of the wind made you shiver and you hugged yourself.
You took off your flipflops and put them next to the entrance of the tent before unzipping the tent as quiet as possible. You stepped in and searched for the suitcase with blankets, but when you found it there were no blankets inside. You saw a faint stroke of light coming from one of the rooms. You knocked on the door and received a quiet “come in.”. You enter the room and see Natasha reading a book. So there the blankets are. You smile at the sight of Natasha buried under a pile of blankets. You stand there a little bit awkward, before Natasha broke the silence.
“Hey, Y/n.”
Your heart skipped a beat at Natasha saying your name. You secretly had a crush on her, but luckily you were quite good at hiding it. Natasha and you had become friends since you both joined the Avengers. You enjoyed every moment you had with her, grateful for the friendship the two of you had, but quietly wishing you could one day be more than just friends.
Natasha had put her book away on the nightstand and was waiting for you to explain what you were doing in her tent.
You quickly put yourself together as you told her why you were there.
“I’m to interrupt you. I couldn’t sleep, because of the cold, so I figured I’d get a blanket.” You clumsily explain to her.
“Yeah, I’m sorry. I took them all.”
“Oh, it’s fine. No problem, It’s not that cold anyway.” You say with a wink and you turn around to leave the room.
You are just about to close the door behind you, when Natasha quietly calls you back.
“You know, you can lie with me… I can keep you warm. If you want to.”
A small silence falls.
“Are you sure. Is there enough roo-”
“I’m sure we’ll manage.” Natasha interrupts you, with a smile on her face that makes your hart skip another beat, your cheeks turning red.
“O-okay.” You managed to exclaim. “I’ll just close the tent before I join you.”
“Sure.”
You intended to leave the room again, when Natasha calls you back for the second time.
“Y/n wait, here.” She says and you step back into the room to see her grabbing something from the closet, throwing a black hoodie at you. You catch the hoodie and take off your pajama top to put on the hoodie, leaving you without any clothes in front of Nat, she quickly turned around and lets you put on the hoodie with a red head. You left the room in Nat’s hoodie, this time leaving the room without Nat asking you to wait. You close the tent and just before you enter the room, you take a moment to smell Natasha’s hoodie, taking in her scent.
You step into the room and see Natasha holding the sheets up, opening her arms for you. Hesitantly you slip under the sheets, Natasha wrapping you in her arms. The tension you felt immediately faded as soon as you felt her body against yours, her red locks tickling your neck. You pulled up your knees tried to lie as still as possible, wanting to stay in the moment forever as you feel her warm front to your back.
You were the happiest you had ever been as you felt asleep in Nat’s arms.
*** You woke up by a shriek next to you and you immediately were awake. It took you a few seconds to take in your surroundings. Tony was standing in the door opening, Natasha was already awake and you turned your head to face her.
“Don’t pay attention to Tony, sweetheart. He’s just being weird.” She told you, stroking your hair out of your face.
Steve heard Tony’s scream and rushed towards it, finding himself in Nat’s room, looking at the two of you, trying to figure out what Tony was freaking out about.
“Tony, what the hell. I thought there was a situation.”
“There is!”
Steve frowned, not understanding Tony at all.
“Don’t you see it, these two dumbasses finally found out they liked each other.”
“Uhm, sorry Tony. I don’t understand what’s going on. It’s obvious Y/n and Natasha like each other, they are friends, right?” Steve bluntly said to Tony. Tony laughed at Steve’s confused face.
“Romantically, grandpa. Not friends, girlfriends...”
Steve’s face turned the color of tomatoes as he finally seemed to get Tony’s insinuations.
You were internally panicking and when you looked back at Natasha, you were surprised that the redhead behind you was so calm. You tried to work yourself out of the awkward situation.
“Tony, please. Nothing happened, I-I was just cold and Natasha offered to keep me – uhm warm.”
Your face twitches as you listen to your own words. Nice save, Y/n, you think to yourself.
“We’re just friends.”
Tony looked at you and buried his face in his hand.
“Is that wat we are.” Natasha seductively said. She turned you to face her and slipped her hand under your hoodie, her hand resting on the warm skin of your side. You turned red under her touch and uncomfortable, you looked away from her. Natasha cupped your face with her hand and kissed you. She pulled away from the kiss, not wanting to make you uncomfortable. You looked her in the eyes, full of confidence and kissed her back. Now that Natasha had your approval, she pulled you closer, moving the hand that was on your side to your back. Her hand was soft, moving on your skin. You slowly put your hand under her shirt and caress her back. The two of you kiss intimately, causing the company to leave the room. After they leave, Natasha lets go of the kiss.
“Well, they’re finally gone. I guessed it worked.” Natasha says with a smirk on her face. You slowly pull away your hand from her back.
“Wait, was that the only reason you kissed me?” You ask her, your voice slightly trembling.
“Well, what other reason would there be?” Natasha looked you in your eyes, with a teasing tone to her voice.
“I- uh you know. Everything that Tony said and- ” Natasha stops you from finishing your awkward flow of words by putting her finger on your lips.
“Y/n, do you want to be my girlfriend.” She asked with a serious expression on her face
You nod and once again you feel Natasha’s soft lips touching yours and your lips move in sync.
*** You spend the rest of the vacation with Natasha. The nights were spent in her bed, filled with cuddles. She kept her promise to you. She kept you warm.
Some nights even warmer than others… ;-)

Aged 14, sometime in September.
Mason Anderson was the biggest dick she had ever met. He was petty and jealous and he picked on her just because. She just wanted peace, quietly resolving  the homework she had spent an entire week working on. The library was empty, safe for a couple of other students when he barged in and robbed her of her papers.
He claimed he needed it more than her, he was the one almost flunking out of the class. She demanded her homework back, but he ran towards the boy’s bathroom with her work. It wasn’t the first time that sullen feeling of despair had been planted on her by Mason Anderson, it still didn’t make it any easier.
She sat in front of the boys bathroom, hugging her knees in an attempt to find comfort. She kept thinking that she could do it again, she had done it once, theoretically it would be faster to do it a second time. Light footsteps echoed through the hall, her eyes found their way to the source of the noise.
Jason Todd was a tiny kid with a big brain and an even bigger heart. He had helped her with English more times than she cared to admit. Sometimes she would see him walking towards the alley near the Academy, holding an extra package of chips to the little kid that stayed there sometimes. She liked Jason Todd, considering him the only alley she had inside the cold walls of the Gotham Academy.
“What’re you doing here?” he asked, delicately, sitting beside her. “I thought you were gonna finish Statam’s paper today.”
“Mason Anderson stole it,” her eyes were cast downwards, looking at the seams of the floor with an almost inhuman interest. “He wanted to copy it, and I wouldn’t let him so he decided to flush down the toilet instead.”
“I’m sorry,” he muttered to her, sitting next to her on the floor.
“It’s okay,” she shook her head, stretching her legs in front of her. “I just,” she sighed, trying to find the words, “I spent one week working on that, and I really needed the grade, you know? But he just didn’t care, he just thought of himself.”
Jason looked at her, softly. His eyes held a certain fire behind them, something she could never really describe what it was. It was entrancing, it calmed the pace of her heart.  He didn’t say anything before getting up and marching towards the boys bathroom.
She didn’t hear anything going on inside, her mind imagining all sorts of scenarios where Jason would emerge from the bathroom beaten and defeated, Mason walking out completely victorious, with a shiny top grade Literature paper in hand. Her blood boiled at the image, more so than it did before. She got up from the ground, determined to help Jason win the fight, even if her papers were already down the plumbing.
But the door flung open, her friend walking out calmly, clutching her homework delicately. He offered her a smile, and as the door closed behind Jason she could see Mason on the ground gripping his nose in pain.
“Here,” the papers were completely dry to the touch, her confusion deepening. “He was copyin’ it.”
“I can’t believe you got this back,” she whispered, shaking her head in disbelief. “I thought… I thought I'd have to redo it.”
“Nah,” he smiled shyly, “I would’ve helped ya.”
“I can’t really depend on you for everything, Jason,” she replied politely. “It’s not fair.”
“I got your back,” he affirmed, “ya don’t need to worry.”
And it meant the world to her that he did.

Aged 16, October 12th.
Jason Todd and her became friends after the Mason Anderson incident. She didn’t know what Jason had said to him, what had he done, all she knew was that Mason never bothered her again after that.
It was the night of her 16th birthday. It was late, probably past 3 in the morning when Jason carefully landed on the fire escape that led to her bedroom. He carefully carried a small box, wrapped neatly with a blue bow. He had chosen the gift lovingly, his heart warm with her. Jason hadn’t expected her to be such an integral part of his life, but just as quietly as she arrived, she placed herself in his heart permanently. She was his friend, true friend, she didn’t expect anything other than his company and support, something he was glad to provide.
His knuckles lightly grazed her window, making the softest noise.  Her shades were partially open, he could see her body lying comfortably on her bed. She moved slightly, her body turning towards the window. Her hands rubbed her eyes delicately, seeing Jason smile awkwardly at her. She got up and dragged her feet towards him, opening her window to him.
“What’re you doing here?” her voice was slurred, intoxicated with sleep.
“You know, you should really lock your windows,” he commented, “Gotham’s a dangerous city.”
“Jay,” she warned, “what’re you doing here? It’s…”she searched for her clock, “fuck, 3 in the morning.”
“It’s your birthday,” he responded clearly, as if it was the most obvious reason why he was on her fire escape, on a cold October night only wearing a light jacket.
She blinked at his blunt response, confused on what to say to him. “You’ll see me tomorrow, Jay, I don’t understand why’d you come all this way just to see me.”
“Because it’s you,” he shrugged, stepping into her bedroom silently. “You really thought I wouldn’t see you on your birthday?”
“I don’t know,” she whispered, looking down at her feet. A soft breeze came in through the window sending shivers down her spine. Jason closed the window for her and she sent a silent thank you towards his way. “I thought you wouldn’t bother.”
“Well,” he extended the little box to her. Her fingers brushed on his softly, a shock sent on his skin at the touch, “I couldn’t not see you.”
Her hands hugged the box carefully, hesitant on what to do with what was given to her. “Open it,” he urged her.
She eyed him suspiciously, undoing carefully the blue bow that decorated the gift. Opening the box, a tiny robin pendant next to two tiny stones pendants, an opal and an onyx: her birthstone and his. “Wow,” she breathed out, her heart racing inside her chest. Suddenly, she didn’t feel sleepy anymore. “Jason, this is… You didn’t have to.”
“Of course I had,” he stated, his eyes soft and loving, lingering on her more than they should. “You mean a lot to me, darling.”
Her eyes glinted underneath the pale moonlight streaming through the half closed curtains of her room. Jason’s breath hitched quietly at the sight of her, disheveled and sleepy and yet the most perfect person to grace his life. She was at a loss for words for a few moments, opening and closing her mouth, not knowing how to react. Her eyes trailed frenetically over the pendants, trying to find meaning in those.
“Why a robin?” the inquiry startled Jason. He wasn’t expecting to explain himself, much less explain why he had given her a robin pendant. She had no clue what he did when the night fell, who Bruce actually was and he intended to keep her in the dark about that aspect of his life. She didn’t need to know anyway, and telling her would only put her in danger. That was what Bruce made her believe.
“It reminded me of you,” he answered, simply, his eyes fixated on her angelic face.
It wasn’t untrue. Robins were friendly and protected over, birds that should never be harmed. Jason made sure of that, he had her back, always, and he knew she had his. But mostly, he wanted her to have a piece of him everywhere she went. If something were to happen, he wanted to guarantee he wouldn’t be a footnote in her life. What a magnificent life that would be, he knew.
Her eyes ran on his face, looking for a hint that he wasn’t sincere, that he was just messing with her. The thought was more heartbreaking than she anticipated. She found nothing malicious in his face, in his eyes, and smiled back at him. “Thank you, Jay,” she kissed his cheek delicately, her lips barely brushing his skin. It was enough to send both of them into a frenzy of feelings, a thousand thoughts running through their heads.
“Here,” he extended his hands, his eyes clear and full of emotion for her, “I’ll put it on for you.”
She handed him the box, turning around so he could clasp the hook of the necklace. Jason was considerably smaller than her - she guessed it was because of the years of malnutrition he endured when he lived on the streets - so she sat on her bed to meet his height. His fingers brushed slightly at the back of her neck, sending goosebumps on her body.
It was when she turned to look at him again that she realized that maybe Jason wasn’t just a friend to her. Maybe the interest she had in Jason, or how her heart raced when she saw him for the first time in the day weren’t because he was her friend. Maybe it was because she had decided to love him with all her soul.

Aged 16, April 28th.
It was ironic how sunny it was in Gotham that day. It was like nothing had happened, the world hadn’t gotten the memo that it was supposed to be gloomy and sad outside, to match the pain she felt inside.
On the deep green grass of Gotham cemetery, stood her and Jason’s family, listening to a priest preach something meaningless to her. Nothing mattered to her anymore, her friend, best friend, was buried deep into the earth, 6 feet under. She would never get to see him again, hear his laugh, take in his smile. She would never have another birthday with him, give him his favorite books, tell him she loved him. Her eyes were fixed on the fresh dirt lain over his shiny coffin, her hand fidgeting on the robin pendant Jason had gifted mer  months before. It wasn’t an open casket, she couldn’t even see him for the last time.
The call was the most confusing moment she had ever gone through. He didn't even tell her he was going after his mom. He didn’t even get to explain that to her. Jason just burst through her window late at night, saying he was leaving Gotham for a few weeks, anger seeping through his pores and contaminating the room. His knuckles were badly bruised, as her fingertips lightly brushed he hissed. She didn’t question him, it didn’t even go through her head. He had said he wanted to find a part of him, and she nodded, wishing him luck.
Looking back, she wished she had begged him to stay, to find that part of him in Gotham, with her away from the perils of foreign bombs. Tears sprouted in her eyes as the thought passed through her head. It wasn’t her fault, she couldn’t predict a tragedy would have happened. It had become a mantra to her, and sometimes repeating it to herself didn’t help at all.
Bruce Wayne stood next to her, stoic, his face stony. It almost didn’t look like he had lost a son. But she saw how his jaw tensed, how it was similar to when Jason was upset and didn’t want to tell her about it. She could see how broken he was inside, how angry and desperate. She felt that too.
The priest stopped talking and the four people standing on that lawn let out a stuck breath of relief. Jason’s brother approached his Father, walking away from her. She stared at the stone, cold like Jason’s body, with the engrave ‘Jason Todd, beloved son and friend’. It didn’t make justice to what Jason actually was, he was much more than just a son and a friend, but it was what they used to describe him. If Jason had decided what his epitaph would be, surely would be a dramatic quote from Shakespeare.
Her name was called out in a posh british accent and she turned toward the person. What she saw was an older gentleman, holding a black umbrella to protect his baldness from the sun. A thin mustache hung over his upper lip, molded into a sad frown. “I’m Alfred Pennyworth. Master Jason talked a lot about you,” he commented with his left hand behind his back.
“All good things, I hope?” she joked quietly, her eyes trailed to her black shoes, wet grass glued to the sides of it.
“The best things, I assure,” his voice was firm and calm, his accent oozed her security, something she was eager to cling on. He reached for the inner pocket of his blazer, pulling a crisp white card. She furrowed her eyebrows, accepting the card. On it, it had Alfred’s name, his profession underneath and a phone number. “If you ever find yourself needing anything, I’ll be happy to help.”
She nodded, her thumb lightly brushing the expensive paper on her hand. “Thank you Mister Pennyworth,” her eyes found the old man, the wrinkles around it making his stern stance seem gentler. “Thank you.”
“Would you like to come over for some tea?” he offered. “I’m sure Master Bruce wouldn’t mind having his son’s friend over.”
She wanted to, a force inside her compelled her to accept his offer. But her heart was broken, and she didn’t know if she was ready to enter what used to be Jason’s home so fast after he was buried. At the same time, maybe she didn’t have the nerve to say no to such a kind person. “I--,” she hesitated, “okay, I’ll have some tea.”

Aged 18, mid-August.
“I don’t know what to do, Alfred,” her hands fiddling with the necklace Jason had given her long ago. “It feels like I’m at a crossroads and every sign points to the direction my heart doesn’t want to go.”
The old butler poured her mint tea - her favorite, as he had learned over the weekly visits she paid him - calmly and firmly as she ranted. “What is holding you back?”
She looked at Alfred, her eyes confused at the question. She hadn’t lingered on the fact of why she didn’t want to accept the scholarship on Metropolis. Her brain told her it was only logical, she would miss her parents, her weekly meeting with Alfred, her hometown. But Alfred was always one step ahead, he had a sixth sense as she had come to learn. “You know,” she replied softly, her eyes lingering on the beautiful teacup in front of her.
He said her name, getting her attention. “Master Jason isn’t here anymore,” he stated simply, laying cookies on her plate, “you don’t have to stay behind for him.”
“I know,” she picked up the spoon and twirled it between her fingers. “But,” she hesitated, not knowing how to phrase her feelings, “Alfred, I can’t even think of it. I can’t wrap my brain around leaving him.”
“You are not leaving him,” his voice was calm and gentle, softening her panic. “You are moving on.”
She shook her head, her eyes shut close tightly. “It doesn’t feel like it,” she whispered, “I feel like I’m meant to be here, Alfred. I can’t really explain it.”
“Well, if you do decide to stay in Gotham, I hope we can continue our weekly teas,” Alfred said, a tone of hope in his voice.
She smiled at him, her eyes filled with kindness. “If I do decide to stay, I’d love to keep our weekly teas,” her smile stayed as she uttered the words. “I appreciate our time together, Alfred.”
“I’m honored,” he said to her, bringing the teacup to his lips.
Heavy footsteps sounded behind her and she turned around to see who it was. Turning around, her hand bringing the teacup to her lips, she saw a disheveled Bruce Wayne walking towards her. His eyes were barely opened, prominent bags under his eyes cast a shadow on his features. His tie hung untied on his neck, his shirt over his pants, the sleeves folded up to his elbows. It was a stark contrast from the Bruce Wayne she had seen at Jason's funeral, two years back, the one she saw frequently splattered on the news front pages.
“Oh,” he stopped on his tracks, his hands falling limply to his sides. His jaw tensed and, suddenly, a mask fell on his face, the vulnerability he displayed a few seconds before gone. He wasn’t anymore Bruce, a guy who had just woken up and wanted something from the kitchen of his oversized home, he was the Bruce Wayne, now. The velocity of the transformation haunted her. “I didn’t realize we had visitors.”
She rested the teacup pack on the counter, and got up from the stool. “I’m so sorry Mr. Wayne,” she muttered, extending her hand, introducing herself. “I am, was, Jason’s friend.”
“Yes, yes,” he nodded, “I remember you.”
Alfred looked pointenly at Bruce as pulled a mug from a cabinet. He poured coffee for himself, and leaned against the counter next to Alfred. She stood there next to her stool, paralyzed in his presence. Everytime she was present in Wayne Manor, Bruce was either too busy to ever grace them with his presence, or away on some business trip she never bothered to ask what for. “We have weekly teas, Master Bruce,” Alfred said, his tone laced with something deeper than announcing their weekly traditions.
Bruce’s jaw tightened somehow and his blue eyes rested on her. Her eyes drifted to her teacup, her tea getting cold. She was itching to grab it and drink it, but she felt uncomfortable even moving a inch from her place, much less feeling the liberty to resume her previous behavior. “Really?” his eyebrows shot up, his head tilting slightly. “Please, seat, pretend I’m not here.”
She hesitated before sitting back down. Her hands hugged her teacup, the warmth of it seeping through her skin. It was hard to pretend he was not there next to her, looking at her with judging eyes. She wondered if he remembered her from the funeral, if he had thought of her when he was thinking of Jason’s legacy, what his son had left behind. Her eyes looked up at Bruce before quickly darting back down to her tea, “Yeah, I don’t really wanna go to Metropolis,” she whispered, resuming her previous conversation with Alfred. The air in the kitchen was tense and awkward, she couldn’t look any of them men in the room in the eyes.
“I’m certain Gotham U will admit you,” Alfred reassured her, “You’re a brilliant person, they’d be fools to let you go.”
“Thank you, Alfred,” her eyes were focused on the tea, like it was the most important thing in that kitchen. “They usually don’t take this long to send the letters, it’s making me nervous.”
“Gotham U, huh?” Bruce chipped in. “What’s your major?”
She looked expantly at Alfred, trying to see if he knew any of Bruce’s intentions. But she often forgot how impassive Alfred was, how in control of his emotions he was, something she lacked. He didn’t show her anything, she assumed he knew of something, like usually. “Applied physics,” she responded, quietly.
“Wow,” Bruce breathed out, “impressive.”
She offered him an awkward smile in return. It was hard to find a response to the reaction of others when they became aware of her major. It was highly uncommon, and usually those who followed that path were men. When people discovered what she wanted to do with her life, they almost always reacted like they had found an unicorn.
“Well, when you do graduate, look for me, I can help you get a job,” Bruce politely offered, his tone kind. She looked up at him for the first time, his expression almost fatherly.
“Thank you Mr. Wayne, that’s very kind of you,” she bored her head, looking down at her tea once again.
His phone rang, and he picked it up from his pocket. Her eyes trailed over to his expression, his jaw once again tense. “You’re welcome,” he replied, feigning happiness and comfort. “If you’ll excuse me,” he left the kitchen in broad steps, his shoulders tense and determined.
That was the first time she came to the conclusion that Bruce Wayne was a strange man.

Aged 22, end of May.
College was an excruciating experience, but finally she had left it all behind. With her diploma in hands, she finally felt a small semblance of freedom, something she had longed when isinde the four walls of her old dorm in Gotham U.
She stepped into the ground floor of Wayne towers, her shoes clicking nervously on the floor. She had made sure to dress properly to meet Bruce Wayne, unsure of what he’d think if she showed up dressed like a broke college student, something that she very much was. It was the mentality of fake it till you make it, aim a bit higher and maybe you’ll get there. She desperately wished she’d get there.
One of the receptionists let her in, indicating the floor in which she should go to. Her hands sweat gripping the folder with her recommendations and her resume, she gulped looking at the elevator intently. Her free hand found its way to the tiny robin gently resting on her neck. She wished Jason was there to help her, give her tips on what to say to his Father to make him glad, and what to avoid doing so that he’d hire her. She could imagine him if she closed her eyes, next to her, barely taller than her, smiling at her wishing her good luck. The elevator dinged, bringing her back to reality. Jason wasn’t next to her, and she didn’t have anyone to give her tips on what to say to her potential boss. She was alone, just like she had been for six long years.
In spite of the hundred floors of the building - quite literally - the elevator ride was fast. When the doors opened, it revealed a small greeting room, with a couple of couches and a tall window illuminating it. She eyed directly in front of her, the double doors with a tiny plaque with the name Bruce Wayne engraved on it. Her eyes lingered on it for a couple of moments, as she walked towards the lonesome couch next to the big window. She took a deep breath, trying to calm the beating heart. She wondered if Bruce was already inside the room, if he remembered what he had offered to her all those years ago, or if he had just been polite and did not plan on following with it at all.
After that strange meeting with him four years back, she had barely seen him again. A couple of times she had seen a shadow passing through the corridors while she was heading out of the Manor, someone she assumed for the sake of her mental health it was Bruce Wayne and not a ghost. The notion that he was a strange man only intensified, adding the perception that he was hiding something. She knew he was a good actor, but she could see tiny cracks and slips, an ability gained from years of loneliness. It was hard to say what it was that he was keeping a secret from everyone, but there was something there.
Her name was called and she saw Bruce Wayne standing underneath the frame of the double doors that lead to his office. She got up promptly and walked towards him, her grip on her folder tight. His hand was extended and she shook it professionally, pretending like she wasn’t panicking inside.
“I have someone I’d like for you to meet,” he stated, guiding her inside his office. The office was probably four times bigger than the small room she had stayed previously, the large windows providing a beautiful view from Gotham. You could almost pretend it was a normal city looking out from that window. “This,”  he motioned to the man sitting on a cozy nook in the back of the room, “is Lucius Fox.”
The man was big and well built, his round glasses standing on the tip of his nose. He smiled at her, crinkles forming beside his eyes. His hand found his glasses, taking them off and putting them in his pocket. “Nice to meet you, Miss. mr. Wayne has talked a lot about you,” he stated, his hand extended for her to take it.
She looked back at Bruce, confused. After all, he remembered her and he remembered his offer. She turned back to Lucius and shook his hand, a determined expression on her face. “Nice to meet you, Mr. Fox.”
“Lucius Fox is the head of our R&D department, and has agreed to take you as his personal apprentice,” Bruce explained.
Shock overcame her, her eyes wide. She looked between Lucius’ kind smile and Bruce’s stoic stance, unable to believe the opportunity was real. “Really?” she uttered incredulously.
“I have some personal projects and I’d very much need the help,” Lucius explained, calmly. “Mr. Wayne has talked highly of you, I’m eager to see what you’re capable of doing.”
“I--,” she shook her head, trying to get rid of the hesitation, “thank you, sir.”
“You’re welcome,” Bruce responded, a small smile gracing his lips. “I’m sure you’ll do great.”

Aged 24, April 26th.
The humid air of the cave made sweat drip down her face as she tinkered away with a broken gadget she had designed for Bruce’s night time activities, as she had so dearly called it.
It was a new development, the cave and the capes and the vigilantism. The two years she invested working with Lucius all served a greater purpose to Bruce. She was to be the next Lucius Fox, help provide Batman, or rather Bruce - in her head it was still confusing to assume that the guy who had given her a job was the ‘Dark Knight’ - with gadgets capable of doing everything that his physical capabilities couldn’t. Lucius was old and reaching retirement, and even if he loved his job, he was reaching his limit. She was beyond grateful for his guidance, she had learned so much. But he had left her a fucking weird job. There was no other way to describe it.
The cave was quiet, Bruce had left sometime before, she could only hear Alfred quietly talking to Bruce through the comms and the drip-drip of water falling from the ceiling and hitting the small lake underneath her. She had settled in a little abandoned nook, her tools all scattered on top of her table. She rested the screw driver she was working with on the table, lifting the magnifying lens. She rubbed her face, tired of looking towards the tiny malfunctioning screen.
Her hands remained on her face, concealing her emotions. The robin pendant always felt especially heavy on the 26th of April. It had been 8 years since she had seen Jason, and as pathetic as it sounded, she never really got over the loss of him. They always felt particularly lost, she couldn’t focus on anything other than him, running circles around any problem presented to her. Looking at the gadget, it felt nearly impossible to find a solution to it, her mind foggy with sadness and grief that she could never really shake off, even with years between her and the day he had died.
The knowledge that Bruce kept everything as Jason had left, and even made a little homage to his Robin days in a secret corner of the cave, hidden from view, was heavy in her heart. She struggled to keep her eyes trailed to her task and not at the memory of Jason. She took a sharp breath, trying desperately to sew herself together. It was truly pathetic how much it still affected her, how open the wound still was.
A sharp motor sound echoed through the walls of the cave, disturbing the few bats that hung from the ceiling. A guy built like a fucking brick wall parked his bike on the platform, taking long strides towards where Alfred stood. He adorned a cracked red helmet that glistened in the white lights that illuminated the pathway. His heavy footsteps echoed through, her eyes unable to escape from him. She approached silently, praying that that loose panel near the little stairs that lead to the main computer wouldn’t scratch underneath her weight.
“Where the fuck is Bruce?” he growled, his hands balled into fists next to him. His leather jacket was worn and old, its sleeves bunched up near his elbow, exposing his veiny forearms. The cracked part of the helmet revealed his blue eyes, sparkling in a familiar way. It tugged her heartstrings, her hand instinctively went to her robin. It couldn’t be, Jason was dead.
“He’s on patrol, Master Jason,” Alfred said calmly, his eyes trailed to the screens in front of him. Alfred acted like this man’s fits of anger were completely normal.
Her brain repeated that it wasn’t Jason, it was a mere coincidence that this man’s name was the same as her dead best friend’s. Jason was a tiny and scrawny kid, he wasn’t tall and thick like this man. Jason wasn’t bitter and prone to anger fits, even if he was angry most of the time. He was silent and kind and sweet, this man looked to be the opposite of it.
“He promised, Alfred, where is he?” he growled, his fist slamming on the table. “He fucking promised.”
“I’m sure he’ll arrive soon, if you’d like to wait,” Alfred motioned to the medical bay, the gurney sitting there on its lonesome. The man huffed, marching to the gurney, otherwise ignoring her presence a few feet away.
She approached Alfred quietly. “Who was that?” her voice laced with curiosity and fear.
Alfred looked at her serenely, knowing something she didn’t. He smiled at her, teh crinkles around his eyes appearing generously. “Why don’t you find out?,” he responded to her camly.
She took it as an order, and made her way towards the small infirmary area. Her footsteps were light and determined, her hand clutching the robbing resting on her chest tightly. Her brain ran over scenarios on how likely it was that this person had almost every physical attribute to her best friend Jason, if he had taken steroids for the past 8 years. It wasn’t likely, but in light of her new knowledge, of how close the supernatural was to her, it was very much possible.
“Do you want me to take a look?” she asked quietly, shifting the weight from her heels to the tips of her toes. She felt so small in his presence, something she didn’t feel with Bruce, oddly. Maybe it was because Bruce didn’t give off such menacing vibes when he was near her, or maybe it was because her brain was unconsciously comparing this man to her Jason, who had always been smaller than her. “At the helmet, I mean.”
He eyed her surgically, analyzing everything about her. His eyes rested on her pendants, widening slightly in recognition. It took almost everything in her to control her beating heart, to control her brain trying to say that in fact that man before her was her Jason, and it wasn’t her brain playing tricks on her.
He gently took his helmet off, revealing his crisp black hair cooly laying on his forehead. His eyes focused on the helmet, his arms extended to give it to her gently. Her eyes would leave his face, a face she had longed to see for eight excruciatingly long years. His eyes had remained the same, after all: kind and sweet. His face, however, told a story of hardships and pain, hardened by whatever he had been through all these years. She didn’t know how to feel, if she should feel betrayed he hadn't trusted her enough to say that he was alive, that he was six feet under anymore, or if she should feel elated that Jason was alive and she could finally tell him all the things she wanted to.
Her fingers brushed him slightly, as she picked up the broken helmet from his hands. His hands still felt the same, her heart noticed, picking up a beat. She looked at the crack that exposed half of his face, the electrical parts fizzling dangerously. Her eyes focused on Jason once again, her lips shut painfully. The tears that came to her eyes were inevitable, trembling fingers reaching at her robin pendant, clutching it tightly. “I’m so sorry,” she whispered.
“Don’t,” he shook his head gently, “it’s not your fault.”
She could see he wanted to touch her, but something held him back. She wouldn’t find out what until much later.

Aged 24, August 16th.
Jason had promised her he would show up, and he never broke his promises. That was what she repeated to herself, late at night. She had prepared everything for his birthday, bought a present for him and baked a cake. She had said that he was supposed to appear at seven. It was well past midnight, the cake had found its way back to the fridge, the present was back in her closet, and he hadn’t showed up yet.
A part of her kept telling her to give up, her best friend had stood her up: Jason changed fundamentally, he wasn’t the same boy he was when she met him and it was foolish to hang on to that notion; it was perfectly plausible that he had the habit of breaking promises now.  But she was well aware of that, she saw it in the tiny things how much Jason was transformed, it still didn’t change the fact that she knew he valued loyalty above all else, and that included loyalty to his words. He wouldn’t break his promise to her.
She changed out of the cute dress she was wearing, feeling foolish and sad that she was about to give up most of the hope that he would show up. Her pyjamas welcomed her comfortably, a safe space to let the heartbreak settle on her. He won’t break his promise, she repeated mentally, he won’t. The mantra did little to soothe the growing dread inside her, the notion that maybe she didn’t know him as well as she did. That he didn’t tell her everything that day, that he didn’t trust her anymore. It hurt more than she anticipated.
Sleep was almost consuming her when she heard a loud clang outside her bedroom. She shook awake, throwing the covers off her instinctively. Her hand grabbed the baseball bat that rested beside her bed, bringing it up and close to her. With slow steps, she approached the window. Her fear settled when she saw the familiar red helmet staring back at her, begging to let him in. She dropped the bat on the floor, opening the window.
He got in her room awkwardly, struggling to pass his huge frame through a tiny space. She reached to help him, offering her hands. He took them, butterflies running amok on her tummy. “You’re late,” she commented, trying to mask the hurt in her voice.
“I know,” he said, taking off his helmet and dropping it on top of her bed. “I’m sorry.”
She hummed looking at him underneath the moonlight seeping through her window. She hadn’t gotten used to how big he became, and how smaller she felt in his presence. She was by no means a small woman, but his entire being could encapsulate her with a simple hug, and not the other way around like it used to be. “Why are you late?” she moved to sit on the bed, the helmet rolling off the bed delicately.
He looked at her, sitting down next to her gently. “I don’t know,” he answered, rubbing his hands together, his elbows resting on his thighs.
“Why do I feel like you’re not being honest with me?” her head tilted, looking at his beautiful profile. There was a scar connecting his right temple to the corner of his upper lip, and it made him even more beautiful than he already was. He fascinated her to no end, his brain, his looks, his entire being was what made her keep going, the light on the end of her tunnel.
His eyes trailed over her face, looking for something she guessed he wouldn’t find. “Why are you always so nice to me?”
“What do you mean, Jason,” she breathed out, confused at the inquiry. “I’m your friend, I’m supposed to be nice to you.”
“No, you’re not,” he shook his head, his hands balled into fists and his eyes closed. “You’re not supposed to be kind to me,” he got up, his back towards her.
“Stop it, Jason, you’re scaring me,” she whispered, her voice shaking a bit.
“You’re supposed to be angry at me. I abandoned you, left you alone, and when I came back I didn’t tell you, I didn’t look for you,” he continued, trying to manipulate her emotions.
“Why are you saying these things, Jason, they’re not true,” she got up, her voice no longer shaking, determined and focused.
“Because I don’t deserve it,” he turned to her, his eyes tortured and sad. “I don’t deserve your kindness and friendship. I’m not worthy of it.”
“Jay, I--” she started, but Jason interrupted her.
“Don’t, please. I’m not worthy of anyone’s love,” his voice was heavy with emotion. She discovered that Jason was often ruled by two main emotions: sadness and anger. In that moment, she could only see those in him and a part of her broke.
“That’s not true, you’re worthy of mine,” her voice was so honest and raw, it caught Jason by surprise. She didn’t know what he expected out of her at that moment, maybe to give in to his spiral of bad thoughts and self flagellation, but she refused to let him believe those awful things. “Jason, you really don't know?”
He remained in silence, his eyes wide and shocked, focused on the ground. His jaw was tense and his hands balled into fists tightly. She took a hesitant step towards him, reaching for his hands. They relaxed under her touch and she threaded her fingers through his. It wasn’t hard to notice how perfectly they fit with each other, like to halves of a whole. “I’ve loved you ever since I was 14 and you marched into the boys bathroom to get my lit homework back from Mason Anderson,” she whispered, her eyes focused on his face, while his were focused on their hands together. “I’m sorry I didn’t say it before, I’m so sorry it took me so long to say it, Jay. But I can’t let you believe all those horrible things you said. Not when I love you more than anything in this world.”
He stayed silent for a couple of moments, her heart beating erratically inside her chest, fearing she had screwed up their friendship for good. In a way, it was worst to know he was out there and didn't want to speak to her because she dared to tell him about her love for him. “Please say something,” she begged him quietly.
His eyes finally found hers, his hands breaking the link they formed. He rested his hands on her cheeks gently, and she dared say, lovingly. Her heart started beating excitedly, the fear slowly dissipating as his gaze got more intense.
His lips brushed against hers, her eyes fluttering closed at the contact. He kissed her gently, a love delicate and fragile, just acknowledged between them both. His grip on her was firm, his thumb grazing delicately on her cheekbones. Her hands thread through his soft hair, still slightly humid from the sweat caused by the helmet. The air was charged with want, tentative kiss toeing the line between what it was and something more.
She wished to stay like that forever. She prayed to  whatever was out there in the Universe, to allow her that happiness. To stay kissing her love tentatively in the dark for as long as she could, as long as he’d let her.
Jason broke the kiss, his forehead resting on hers. His fingers found their way to the back of her head, cupping it softly. “I love you,” he whispered, his lips almost brushing with hers. She reached for his lips once again, like a magnet finding its match. “I love you so much,” he reassured.
They kissed once again, not intending to break apart any time soon.

Maestro Hiccups Nightmares Unleashed Part 41
Meanwhile, Back at the Mansion...
Poor Kaylo shivered as she trekked through the mansion, the once bright and colorful hallways now dead, and lifeless. "It's OK...I'm fine..." she trembled, hoping to get out of the Mansion alive. Suddenly, A large suit of armor lunged at her, it's sword poised to strike at her. The pink haired child ran away, before she bumped into a wall with a portrait of a red haired woman...only for it to turn terrifying, and lunge at her.
Kaylo shrieked and fled down the stairs, not noticing Cal's eyes in the armor, nor did she see Lucy stepping out of the portait. "Well, She seems to be frightened." Cal said. Lucy gave a sympathetic look "I feel a little guilty for doing this, The poor darling looks so scared..." Lucy said. The Chess champion looked at her "It's either we scare her, or we're stuck in here." He said, though he felt a bit bad as well.
Kaylo however didn't know of their guilt, as she had stumbled down the stairs, and into another room. She shut the door behind her, hoping that nothing else could get in, when she felt a sudden burst of cold air, and a chill run through her. Her eyes shrunk as a large ice like ghost rose out of the floor, freezing it as it did.
Kaylo slipped on the icy floor, only quickly grasping the door handle and sprinting back out. Just as it was revealed to be and invisible Iben and Bruce touching the ground, and creating the "ghost" that spooked her. Iben and Bruce gave a sympathetic look as they saw the fear on the girl's face, but they knew that they had to get her to wake up.
In the living room, Kaylo had grabbed a large vase, and held it like a weapon, hoping to intimidate anyone who might try and harm her. "I-I'm not n-not afraid!" She stammered, her shivering body making her each and every step shakier and shakier. She hoped to reach the door and race back outside, only to remember the hordes of terrifying zombies ready to take a bite out of her.
"Regal? A-Are you down here?" She asked out. But the only response she got, was in the form of a loud growling noise. The feeling of something shivering between her sent a shiver up her spine as a large beast formed out of fur, Feathers, and burnt skin hovered above her. Out of fear, Kaylo threw the vase as hard as she could, and made a beeline towards the basement.
The beast unformed to reveal Sana, Fiona, Eis and Jose, who was rubbing his head from impact "You OK Jose?" Sana asked "I'm good, And besides, we're almost there." He said. The others hoped that it would be enough to wake the girl up, even if they did feel a bit bad for doing this to her.
Kaylo meanwhile was locking the door to the basement, hoping to keep all of the scares and spooks from entering. "I hate this! I want out!" She cried out. A loud cracking sound got her attention, and she saw the area around her cracking like a pane of glass. "W-What's going on?!" She yelped, backing away from the cracks.
Suddenly, she saw rotting hands burst from around the basement. She shrieked as she fell backwards when she saw zombified versions of her friends getting closer to her "S-STAY BACK!! I'M WARNING YOU!!" She shrieked, the cracks getting bigger around her.
And while she couldn't see it, she saw Mei getting a smile on her face 'We're almost there! C'mon! Just a little bit more!' She thought to herself as she and her friends got closer to the shivering girl. However, just as soon as this nightmare would go over the top, A form burst through the ceiling, and two figures landed to the ground...and one of them was...
"Regal?"

Summary: You are forced to go on a mission with Bucky, someone you don’t really get along with. What happens when hydra men get their hands on you?
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader
Warnings: Swearing, blood, violence, drinking, mentions of drugging, references to rape, angst
Well this was longer than I intended. I maaaay write a smutty part 2 if enough people like this, but I hope you firstly just enjoy this little thing I thought of. Love you x
‘You have got to be fucking kidding me’ you groan as you open the suit door to reveal a beautiful room of crimson and black, the intoxicatingly sweet scent of roses wafting through the air. You narrow your eyes, taking in the black marble bathtub, the double shower heads, the ornate fireplace and finally - the source of your anger - the king sized double bed, a bed frame delicately covered in carvings of flowers, dusted in a fading gold.
‘I’m calling Tony’ you seethed, a bratty undertone to your voice as you direct it at the man stood at the doorway, noticing a subtle eye roll adorn his face. The phone rings as you pace around the room, heavy footsteps cushioned by the soft carpet beneath you. Meanwhile Bucky moved to place your bags down on the dresser beneath the window, getting one of the straps caught between the plates on his arm, cursing under his breath as he begins to aggressively pull and twist.
Unsurprisingly, the phone continues to ring until you hear a voice from the other end say ‘Tony Stark is unavailable right now, please leave a message after the bee...’, before angrily pressing the red button on your phone to hang up. ‘Fuck. I am not sharing a bed with you, Barnes. I already hate you enough, no need to make it worse’ you warn him as you toss your phone onto the bed and run your fingers through your hair, a small action which you tend to do when stressed.
‘Obviously not doll’ Bucky breathed as he finally freed the bag from between the plates of his vibranium arm, trying to play it off so you wouldn’t laugh at him. You sighed in relief, a hand on your chest as you turn to look at him.‘Oh thank the gods. I’m sure you’ll be fine on the floor so...’ you started before Bucky held up a hand to shut you up. ‘We won’t be sharing a bed because you’ he explained, poking his metal finger lightly in your chest as he smiled down on you, ‘...will be sleeping on the floor’.
Your mouth fell slightly open, not from surprise though. You knew going on this mission was going to take a lot out of you. You and Bucky were sent on this mission by Tony and Bruce to attend one of those fancy rich people auctions as a fake couple. Your task was to intercept a small branch of hydra trying to sell illegal weapons on the black market. Natasha sniffed them out weeks ago, but she had to go help mother fucking Clint with some shit. I don’t know, or care. It’s Clint. Anyway, Tony promised he would book you a room with 2 separate beds, as you had specifically requested, but looks like the literal billionaire couldn’t even sort that one out.
‘You must be joking’ you snapped back in annoyance, glaring into his crystalline blue eyes which sparkled not so innocently with mischief. ‘Do I look like it?’ he replied, a smirk playing on his annoyingly perfect lips. ‘Do you really think I’m going to sleep on the floor?’ you questioned furiously, gazing upon Bucky with hatred by now. ‘I’d rather you not sleep here at all. That way I wouldn’t even have to look at your face’ he answers carelessly, shooting you a sarcastic smile. You rolled your eyes with an exaggerated flare, glaring at him before shoving past him to grab your bag. ‘Fine. You win this time Bucky. See you at the auction at 9’ you spoke calmly, making sure to bump into him roughly as you made your way over to the door. ‘Wait y/n I didn’t mean...’ you heard his deep voice grumble as you slammed the door as hard as you could. Now, how to get a new room?
——————————(<>)———————————
Pushing the door to your new room open, you were faced with a small single bed, a cramped bathroom and an old desk. It was still quite fancy compared to the hotels you stayed in as a child, but it was nothing compared to the room Bucky had forced you out of. Not really worth flashing that worker in the lobby for, but at least you got the room for free.
It was already 7:50 in the afternoon, and you had little over an hour before you had to be there. You flicked on the lights, and unzipped your bag. You were to wear a silky black dress with a low cut V, a slit down the side to reveal one of your legs and a skirt that fell elegantly to the floor, more than long enough to cover up the knife which will be strapped to your thigh. You spent almost all your time on making your hair and makeup look perfect, giving yourself just under 10 minutes to pull on the dress and a pair of strappy black heels. You lost your shit trying to reach the zipper at the back of the dress, furiously pulling up your thigh holster and sliding in your sharpest knife. You stormed out of the room, racing up the stairs in those heels like a queen to bitch boy’s room. You pounded on it with a clenched fist.
‘Open up’ you yelled through the door. It opened up fast enough, to reveal Bucky standing there in a black suit, in the process of doing up his tie, filling it out perfectly with his bulging muscles, smelling like heaven. Not that he looked good or anything. Definitely not hot. Nope. Bucky sort of stumbled over himself as you brushed past him, gesturing for him to shut the door with your manicured hand. As he spun back around after shutting the door, you caught his eyes trailing over your figure, subtly wide in surprise. ‘Eyes up here boy, I thought you didn’t want to have to look at me’ you whistled, pointing with your fingers. ‘Zip me up. Quickly’ you demanded, turning around.
There was a short pause before you felt Bucky’s warm breath tickle the back of your neck as his cold metal fingers gently brushed against your lower back. He zipped you up carefully, taking your hair in his flesh hand and pulling it gently to the side, sending shivers up and down your spine. God his touch made your skin burn. Before he could say anything else, you reached over to grab his knife, tossing it swiftly so it missed his head by an inch, tip landing firmly in the wooden doorframe. ‘Let’s go’ you motioned with your head, leaving Bucky with his mouth open, eyes burning into your back as he watched you leave, speechless.
You arrived at the auction just in time, showing your passes to the security guards positioned either side of the grand entrance. The knife was digging into your leg, but there was nothing you could currently do about it. You and Bucky swiftly entered, observing and mapping out the area in your heads in case a quick getaway was needed. There was the main stage, with strange looking items laid out across it, including what looked like the stolen tech Nat had described to you. There was the bar, with important looking business men sat beside it ordering drinks and talking about money and sex. There were relatively few women, but those who were present were dressed to the nines. Pearls, diamonds and emeralds sparkled tauntingly from their necks and ears, with dresses that cost more than your entire wardrobe.
You pushed down the tang of jealousy you felt as you thought about how easy these people had it. They can buy anything they want, do anything they want, and be anyone they want. Pulling your thoughts back down to earth, you gently reached out a hand to Bucky’s firm shoulder, pushing slightly so he would lean down to your height. He was pretty fucking tall, after all. ‘I’ll take the bar, that prick gives me hydra vibes. You go do what your good at and be a fuckboy, and try to get something useful out of the ladies. Double tap your earpiece if you’re in danger’ you whispered into his ear, plastering on a fake ass smile to make it seem to anyone watching like you’re just sharing something wonderful with your husband. Being so close to him made you feel all warm and tingly, and it made you slightly nervous. Little did you know, as much as Bucky had an affect on you, he was affected by you just as much if not even more.
You both went in opposite directions. Rubbing your hand up the suspicious looking man’s arm, you turned on your flirty charm and began working. ‘What’s a handsome man like you doing without a girl on your arm’ you drawled, noticing the man gesture quickly with a nod of his head for the man beside him to kindly fuck off. You sat down on the barstool, moving your hand to play with your hair. Men fell for that shit every time. ‘Waiting for someone like you’ the man flirted back, leaning in slightly making you want to cringe. ‘Oh please, I bet every women in here has gone up to you already, Mr...’ you trailed off, trying the most basic trick to getting a name. ‘Please darling, call me Eric’ he replied quickly, eagerly. ‘Let me buy you a drink. A body like yours should be treated with the upmost respect’ he spoke, as more off a demand than a question. You shifted uncomfortably in your seat at the mention of your body, internally screaming at how little respect he seemed to have for women.
As the man turned to the bartender, you quickly spun your head around to try and look for Bucky. Mother fucker had 3 girls all over him. What do you care though, your not actually married and he can do whatever he wants. If the bitch boy wants to fuck them, who cares? Not you, that’s for sure. You keep telling yourself that. You shook your head, turning your attention to the man who was now holding 2 glasses of rosé. You actually really loved rosé, so at least the drink might be nice. As he tapped his glass against yours to produce a satisfying clink, you brought the thin glass to your painted lips. The rosé was delicious and you hummed contently, but there was a slightly salty taste to it. Must be an older brand. You drank and talked with the man for a few more minutes, asking him about his job and his family. You thought you were getting somewhere valuable when you suddenly felt your head start to spin. What the fuck. You knew you were a lightweight, but not like this. You felt your mouth go dry as you looked up at the man. The bitch was smiling.
‘W...what did you do to me?’ you slurred, feeling your mind cloud and your muscles weaken with every passing second. ‘It’s ok gorgeous, it will wear of when I’m done with you. Let’s take you somewhere more private, hm? the man’s voice echoed in your ear as he gripped you roughly by the waist and started moving with you by his side to the door. That’s going to bruise. You tried to move your arm to press your earpiece signalling Bucky for help, but your arm felt weird and tired, and you couldn’t bring yourself to lift it up that high. Instead, you opted for trying to reach for your knife but the man who was sat beside the other previously caught your wrist aggressively and smirked, the 2 men sharing a god awful look. It made you want to crawl inside your skin and die. It was at that moment that it dawned upon you what exactly they wanted to do with you, with your body. You had to escape, except you couldn’t. It was too late. You were outnumbered and could feel your consciousness slipping. You don’t remember much beyond that point. A gun branded with the hydra symbol. An explosion. The taste of blood in your mouth. Cold metal on your shoulder. Shouting, screaming, crying. Black.
———————————(<>)——————————
Your eyes shot open, a head splitting migraine crushing your skull. What the fuck happened, and where the fuck were you? You felt something warm behind you, holding you close and breathing slowly. It smelt heavenly. You took a moment, taking a few slow, deep breaths as you tried to calm yourself down. You pulled the blanket off of your body to reveal a human arm curled securely around your waist, your dress still hugging your body, but the knife was gone. Your mind was still foggy, and you were confused as to why a man’s arm was grasping you. Something snapped in you as some memory of what those men tried to do came back to you, and you felt tears blur your already clouded vision.
Pulling the arm off, you pushed yourself up slowly, turning to look at what was beside you. Your eyes softened when you saw who it was. Bucky was lying beside you in the bed in the original suit, still wearing his suit and loosened tie. He looked so beautiful and peaceful like this. Your look quickly turned to one of concern as you noticed his suit was covered in fresh blood, a few cuts and grazes sprinkled across his handsome face. Your gut twisted and you felt sick as you felt the pain which Bucky must have felt receiving those. Fucking empathy. You reached out mindlessly to run your finger over one of the deeper cuts, but a metal arm flew to catch your wrist in an instant, his eyes shooting open.
‘Oh my god you’re up, you scared me y/n’ he said as his face instantly relaxed and he moved his arm from your wrist to your cheek, brushing away a tear you hadn’t noticed had fallen. ‘What the fuck happened Bucky?’ you asked, hand moving to your head in pain. ‘Shit does it hurt? Are you ok? How do you feel?’ he tried to ask but you wanted answers. Why was he being so nice? You softly batted away his arm and turned to face him in the bed. He sat up. ‘What happened, Bucky’ you asked, sternly this time.
‘Those hydra fuckers must have drugged you or something. I saw them trying to touch you, carrying you out of the room, you looked like you were dead, y/n. I set of a small explosion, nothing dangerous, just enough to get all the civilians shitting their pants and running out, but the building started to collapse. When I got to you they tried to shoot me, the gunshots went of right by your ear. Might explain the headache. I got you out though, thank the gods’ he explained, genuine concern in his eyes.
‘Where are they now?’ you asked trying to get out of bed but feeling another wave of dizziness hit you like a truck. You sat down. Bucky looked down and twiddled your knife between his fingers. ‘Dead’ he replied softly. ‘I killed most of them. I couldn’t get the one who spiked your drink. The blood isn’t mine’. Your hand flew to your mouth automatically. Obviously you had killed before, it wasn’t the death that shocked you. It was the fact he had risked his life like that just to save someone he claimed to hate so much.
‘Why?’ you blurted out, reaching out a hand to tilt his head up gently to look at you. Your heart was skipping every other beat. ‘I don’t know what I would have done if something would have happened to you, y/n’ he replied simply, eyes lingering on your lips as yours lingered on his. ‘They were going to...’ you whispered, before Bucky reached a flesh hand out to cup the side of your face, quickly whispering back ‘I know doll, I know. I was never going to let them do that to you’. ‘But I thought you hated me?’ you sighed, watching conflicting emotions dance in his eyes. You didn’t notice how you held your breath, or how dry your throat was, or how your headache seemingly disappears as your lips finally brushed against the winter soldier’s when he pulled you in, answering your question.
It was so gently, his metal hand sliding down to your waist and pulling you closer to him. You wrapped your hands around his neck as you moved to straddle his lap, feeling his tongue swipe your bottom lip. You opened your mouth to let him in, moaning gently at the feeling of your tongue brushing against his. You kissed him with passion, and he kissed you with longing, both emotions mixing together and causing a comforting warmth to spread all over your body. He pulled away. You frowned. ‘Why’d you stop?’ Bucky laughed lightly and you felt the vibrations from his voice travel through you pleasantly. ‘We still have work to do’ he replied simply, pulling that dazzling smile of his you so rarely saw. ‘I still hate you Bucky’ you mumbled in annoyance.
He lifted you of him with ease, holding you up kindly and making sure you could stand on your own. You wobbled a bit on those 4 inch fucking heels he hadn’t bothered to remove from your feet, but gained your balance and reached for your knife that lay dangerously on the bed. Bucky began to walk to the door. ‘Wait...we aren’t gonna talk about...’ you didn’t finish your sentence, as Bucky had turned around and interrupted smugly ‘about you wanting to fuck me? Later doll, we have shit to do now’. It was his turn to leave, and your turn to watch him walk out. ‘Fucking wanker’ you muttered under your breath as you followed. ‘I heard that’ he shouted from outside the room. It was time to kill the fucker who dared to drug you.

Part 1 , Part 3
•°•°•°•°
“JASON STOP!!!!!”, your voice echoed in the silent warehouse.
Jason stopped in his tracks as soon as he heard your voice, his mind was brimming with thoughts, questions and worst of all, emotions.
“Well, well, well, look who crawled out of her little cave”, He said smugly as he finally turned around to face you. The voice was his, you’d recognize that voice anywhere but it felt cold, devoid of emotions, hearing him like that sent a shiver up your spine. You could feel your determination slipping.
Even though you had your cowl on, Jason could still see how much his rampage was hurting you but he couldn’t stop now, not when all he had left to do was to capture Joker, beat the living shit out of that asshole and show Bruce how much of a failure Batman’s moral compass really is.
“Well? Got nothing to say now?... Why am I not surprised?”, Jason scoffed.
You took a deep breath, you were breaking down inside but you sure as hell weren’t going to let that stop you. You spoke, voice barely above a whisper,  “Jason...Jay...Stop all this...Please, come home, come back to the--”
“Manor? Home? Did you hit your head (Y/N)? Why in the hell would I ever go back to a place where NOBODY GAVE A DAMN ABOUT ME, WHERE HE REPLACED ME AS IF I MEANT NOTHING?!”, Jason didn’t want to lose control of himself, not in front of you. So with visible effort he calmed himself down, took a step forward and gave you a deadpan look.
“You all left me”
Your blood boiled at that statement.
“How dare you?! We lost you! We mourned for you! I mourned for you!”
Tears welled up in your eyes, listening to him you wondered whether he truly believed the words actually coming out of his own mouth.
“The Jason I knew was a roughed up street boy who still cared when many didn't, who called Bruce out every step of the way, who had this ridiculous favoritism for bread, who had the guts to take out a tire from the fricking Batmobile”, despite the dreadful situation you smiled remembering those sweet memories.
You looked him in the eye, pleading in a way, and you spoke softly, “The Jason I knew was The Robin to my Batgirl. This-this is just not who you are Jay, not really...So can you just stop?”
He looked unfazed by your words and cocked his head to the side.
“Princess, the only way you can stop me is if you fight me, knock me down real hard, make sure that I won't get back up again. Tell me Batgirl, can you do it? Do you actually have what it takes?”, he waited for an answer he knew wasn’t coming. As expected, all he was met with was silence.
Long, Painful Silence.
With that Jason knew what he had to do, he put on his red helmet and swung out of the nearest window, you couldn't stop him, for all your big talk, you just couldn't. He was right you failed him.

You jumped awake with a start, bolting upright and immediately regretting your subconscious decision, the throbbing pain made you clutch the back of your head with your palm and you closed your eyes again to achieve some semblance of reality as a way of grounding yourself.
‘It was just a dream (Y/N)…just...a...dream’
You tried to lie to yourself knowing deep down that it was a memory, something you have already lived through, something you regret everyday. You swallowed the lump in your throat. It felt dry and your whole body was sore. You really should've called in early and then maybe Dick would've been the one stuck in this crapy situation and not you.
Pushing past your perplexed state you got up and took in your surroundings, there were vines hanging from the open roof, a LOT of flowers and some Venus flytraps by the corner. It wouldn’t even take being a detective to figure out where you were; The Botanical Gardens.
“How the hell did I end up here”, you muttered under your breath. This was getting out of hands.
“See Pammy I told ya Girl-Bat would rise and shine by now”
“I can see that Harls”
‘Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, just great, is nobody in Arkham these days’
The duo descended down from the open roof through one of the vines and stood in front of you. Harley looked as happy as a 10 year old about to get their favorite toy and Ivy seemed to be interested in anything and everything that did not concern you. Classic.
“Why the hell did you both kidnap me?”
You jumped forward and grabbed Harley by the collar of her dress, in retrospect it wasn't the best move but it's not like you were thinking straight at the time anyway.
A vine wrapped itself around your waist and you were tugged back by such force that you were sure there was gonna be a big bruise there tomorrow. You skidded across the floor and finally stopped when your back connected with a bench. You were just too drained to fight back so instead you just crawled up and sat on the bench with a grunt.
‘Not fighting my way out of this one so for once let’s try talking’
“Whoa, should ya really be this obnoxious when ya got a concussion?”, Harley burst your thought bubble as she looked you over.
“Wait, Did you just call me obnoxious?!”
“But don'tcha worry I am a doctor and I got a PhD”
“In psychology!”
“I will fix ya in no time”
“Are you even listening to me?”
Just like that you saw Harley leave the room to go get some medical supplies, or well at least you thought that that's what she was going to do, you turned your face towards Ivy hoping that she can fill in the blanks.
“So you both finally done babbling? And here I thought it was never going to end.”, She looked at you from where she was petting her plant, and made her way over to you, something about her seemed genuine. You got the feeling that whatever she had to say, it won't be a lie.
“Try and not mind what Harley does, she's just happy to make new friends for girls night.” She sighed before continuing, “As for your question, last night we were near the Gotham Central Park when we saw a masked man dragging your unconscious body out of a building and into a van parked in the alley, so we kil-- we took care of him and brought you here”, She shrugged as if that explains why the Poison Ivy just saved your life.
"Wait that means Red isn't here", you whispered more to yourself than to others.
“Pam is Red!”, Harley said cheerfully as she came back out nowhere with a bunch of boxes which would've made you very uneasy if your mind wasn't already preoccupied.
“What Harley means to say is that if you are trying to ask about that gun loving leather jacket vigilante who wears a red helmet, then no we don't know where he is”
Her words sunk in and yesterday's memories flashed in your mind, your eyes widened under your mask as the realization hit you like a bus.
The missing people, the creepy mannequins, the medical journals regarding surgeries, the weirdo in the white mask instead of a face, the poster of some Pretty Dolls parlor; Now it all makes sense!
“Pyg!”
"Huh?", the women in front of you almost jumped at your sudden revelation.
“Lazlo Valentin aka Professor Pyg that's the son of a bitch who is behind all this mess, he's the one who has got Red Hood And it's all my fault! Now, He might be dead already! I should've known, I-I should've figured it out quicker, I should've done something, DAMN IT!!”, you buried you face in your hands due to the building frustration within you.
“Don't be like that”, you heard Harley's voice as a hand was placed on your shoulder, she sat down on the bench next to you, you turned your head and eyed her warily, seeing nothing but concern.
“Don't give up. Clearly this Hoodie person means a lot to ya so you get off your ass and go get him, don't you Bat People always find a way”, you looked at her for a moment, then jumped up on your feet.
“Can't believe I am saying this but you are right Harley, I need go and I will find a way to save him, but before leaving I wanna know something”, you looked Ivy in the eyes as you worded your next sentence, “Why save me?”
“It was just my way of replaying you for saving Harls from that clown once”, instead of elaborating Ivy just crossed her hands over her chest waiting for you to leave. You gave her a warm smile, something they are not used to seeing, from a bat of all people.
“Thank you Pamela”
With that you were out of that detour and onto finding the path leading up to Jason.
•°•°
Somehow you reached the safe house without running into some kind of trouble, with how your day has been going, you were completely expecting something else to go wrong. Thankfully it didn't. You took out a spare comms unit, keys for your bike and some aspirin to dull the headache.
Soon you were whizzing past vehicles at full speed triying to contact anyone available at the moment.
“Come on pick up, pick up, pick up! What's the meaning of giving us an emergency button when no one picks the damn thing up”, you spoke into a dead line, wishing you could just bang your head against a wall, on second thought not a good idea.
Two minutes later the call was finally picked up and a screen appeared on the dash of your bike, it was from the batcave and you could see Dick, Damian and Bruce in sitting in front of the computer, Tim was connected from what you assumed to be the titans tower. However Dick was the first one to pop the question.
“(Y/N) what's the emergency? Are you okay? We haven't heard from you since last night”
“Look no time to explain. Jason's been taken by Pyg and I need you guys to give me a location. Now”, you said gritting your teeth as you narrowly missed a truck for the second time this evening.
“Todd's captured? *tt* his incompetence precedes that of Drake”, Damian's snarky remark made Tim snap his head up.
“Hey!”
“Boys”, Bruce's stern voice made them quiet enough for the time being, “Batgirl you are injured and your emotions can compromise the whole rescue, go back to the safe house and let us handle this”, Bruce ended the transmission and it made you angry.
'He said that they are going to handle it, that means they know where he is, so now all I have to do is to get Dick to spill it out'
You dialed Dick back, hoping he would understand what you are trying to do.
“I know why you specifically choose to call me back and No I am not letting you go head first into danger without any of us with you especially when you are compromised”, Dick's tone was stern but laced with concern.
“Dick the last time Bruce said he will handle it, Jason died, look I know what he is trying to say, I get him, I can't blame him for wanting to look after me but you have to understand I have to be the one to get him back”
“Why?!”
“Because I can't lose him again! The last thing that I said to him was that I might never forgive him! Never forgive him for something that's not even his fault! You are my only hope at getting him back, please don't take that away from me, please”, you pleaded with him as you slowed down the bike to a stop.
The line was silent for a while, the thought about saying more to him crossed your mind; what you are feeling about Jason, how much he matters to you, how you've failed him more than once, but ultimately decided against it and instead you just waited for his reply.
You deflated as soon as you realized that the line was cut but the ping of a notification caught your attention; The map to the possible location of Jason.
“Dick Grayson, you big softie”, you smirked, your bike roared as you made your way on to the free way heading fast towards the Gotham outskirts.
Meanwhile at Professor Pyg's 'supervillain headquarters' :
Jason slowly woke up, assessing the situation he quickly came to the conclusion that he messed up and now he is tied up to what seems like dentist's chair.
“Great, there has got to be a new record I've set in this family for messing up and getting kidnapped”, Jason muttered under his breath, he tried to tug at his restraints to get free but it turned out to be fruitless. A blinding light was switch on above him and he grunted due to the intensity.
“Man, what is up with you people and light?! Turn it off already!”, Jason said as he tried to adjust his eyes accordingly, when he came to, he was met with his captor himself.
Jason just stared at the man in front, moving towards him, wearing a pig mask and holding a butcher knife. He has seen enough crazy but this guy might just rival the Joker himself.
“Pyg know you broken. Pyg make you perfect”
“WHAT THE F--”
°•°•°•°•
(I like to think I am funny)
Cute little extra note: Yes it is the second time I'm leaving you guys hanging and NOPE I do not regret my decision.

Closer | Bucky Barnes x reader
I wrote this for @mariessecretfantasies’ 500 follower challenge, took me forever but it’s done!!  congrats on 500 love, although I bet (and hope) you’re well past that now.
my ‘prompt’ was a song, specifically Closer by Nine Inch Nails… so it’s filthy.  purely filth, no plot.  don’t say I didn’t warn you.  special thanks to @evnscvll for the proofread!
warnings: SMUT of course, mild(?) dub con, d/s dynamics, oral sex (m receiving), vaginal sex, anal sex (and the prep is...not that good), ass-to-mouth (i’m literally blushing as I type this oml i’m so sorry), mentions of blood, slapping, spitting, degradation, semi-public sex, pain kink, and some other generally unhygienic behaviors…  this isn’t a dark fic per se but it’s got 0 fluff.  not even one ounce of fluff detected.  definitely no aftercare lmao.  ain’t nobody got time for that.
word count: a bit under 3k
Tumblr media
He couldn’t drink anymore-- well, he could, but he couldn’t get drunk, so there was no use.  Couldn’t get high on any drug, either.  Pain didn’t affect him the way it did other people.  But everybody has their vice, their way of hurting themselves to feel something when they can’t feel anything else.  You were his, and he was yours.
You couldn’t even remember now how it started.  There was definitely alcohol involved, but past that you weren’t sure what had compelled you two to stumble into bed together.  Even at the time you had realized it was irresponsible and probably not worth the trouble, but it seemed inevitable in some weird way.
That was how it always felt, actually.  Like tonight, when he met your gaze from across the bar.  His eyes were so dark, demanding-- it made you shiver even though it only lasted for a moment before he looked away, pulled into conversation with Bruce.  But you knew what it meant.
Didn’t matter anyhow; it was a big party, the whole crew and nearly all of the Tower staff were crawling the halls.  There was no guarantee of privacy at a time like this.
You were chatting with Wanda when you felt a hand slip around your arm, pulling you back into somebody’s form-- of course you knew it was him, you could tell by the roughness of his skin, the smell of him, the way he pressed against your back…
“Can I speak to you privately for a moment?” Bucky requested with poorly-suppressed irritation, his lips almost pressed against your ear.
“S-sure,” you stumbled over your response.  You got the sense that there wouldn’t be much speaking, but you couldn’t turn him down in front of these people without giving yourself away.
And that was how you ended up in a broom closet, pressed against the wall with his tongue dominating your mouth and his hands somehow feeling like they were touching you everywhere all at once.
“Buck, wait,” you managed to murmur against his mouth as his lips crashed into yours.
“Tired of waiting,” he growled in reply.  “Turn around.”
You didn’t even think to question it, just obeyed his command blindly as he slammed you into the wall and began pushing your dress up, pulling your underwear aside.
“Not here,” you groaned.
“Shut up,” he hissed.
The absolute second that his cock was free he was shoving it between your legs and fucking you with unmatched speed and ferocity.  It nearly burned, the way it forced you open, but it was exactly what you needed.  You arched your back to accept his length more easily, your head falling back in pleasure.  He responded by grabbing your hair and pulling it until your back arched even more.
“Oh god, Bucky,” you whimpered.  In response, he slammed his hand over your mouth and fucked you even harder, as if it were punishment; he didn’t like when you said his name in times like this.  He didn’t want to think about who he was, or who you were, or what the two of you were doing.  He just wanted to feel you and nothing else.
Funny how a man who’d been unwillingly brainwashed actually craved the chance to forget.
His other hand moved from your hair and slipped down between your legs, roughly rubbing your clit as your hips bucked and thrashed in response.  He held you still through it, biting down on your neck hard enough to make you worry about the skin breaking.  But he knew by now that you liked the threat of pain, which is why he slipped his left hand down from your mouth to your neck.  The sound of your breath halting to silence was so perfect that he had to bite his lip to keep from moaning.
Already your vision was spotting into darkness, starting at the corner of your eyes and moving in.  As you lost your connection with the visual aspects of your reality, everything else became stronger, and it felt like you were somehow seeing better than ever.
He stopped thrusting and leaned closer to your ear.  “When I let go of your neck,” he explained quietly, his voice dark and rough, “get on the floor on your hands and knees.”
He released his grip and your lungs sucked in air faster than they could handle, making you cough and sputter a little.  Still, you turned around to begin following his instructions.  You got a better look at him than you had before.  His eyes were so blown out that they were nearly black, watching you with hungry rage.  Or maybe it was raging hunger.
You felt his gaze follow you as you stepped around him, bending down and getting on the floor.  It was cold and a little bit gritty, both of which made you shudder.  You became aware of the wetness which had leaked from your opening, smeared over your thighs and made an uncomfortable patch on the edge of your panties.  You didn’t have to worry about that much longer, though, as he kneeled behind you and ripped them off.
“Buck, I need those--”
He slapped your ass, with the vibranium hand.  It was so hard that you perceived the sound before your body processed the pain.  As you lurched forward, your squeal of pain tore and cracked in your throat, so much that you could barely recognize it as yourself.
One hand slid your dress up further, admiring the warmth and smoothness of your skin, two fingers running along your spine; the other guided his cock to your pussy again.
You weren’t quite ready, not exactly wet or warmed up enough for this angle.  You were sure this was the most your body could take, if not a little bit more.  The way he pushed into you-- ignoring the resistance of your inner walls, your skin breaking out into goosebumps, your arms and legs quivering-- put you entirely at his mercy.  Just as you were about to cry out in response to it all, he roughly shoved three fingers into your mouth: flesh, sweaty and dirty, tasting slightly of scotch and gun oil.  They pushed your cheeks out from the inside, stretched your chapped lips until they cracked and you tasted blood.  You swirled your tongue around them anyways, ignoring the way it caused drool to lewdly drip down his hand and your chin.
He smiled, in a twisted way, as he looked down at you.  “You need it so bad, don’t you?”
You nodded feverishly, groaning around his fingers and letting your eyes flutter shut.
He used the hand on your back to guide your movements, watching your body as it swallowed his length to the base.  He could tell you were struggling with his size, and he was almost impressed with your fortitude.  Unfortunately for you, it only made him want to push you further.
Pulling his fingers from your mouth, he grabbed your arms at your elbow and held them behind your back, using them to keep you upright as he slammed into you.  Each thrust made your knees scrape on the concrete, and your shoulders were twisted into an awkward position that made your muscles burn, but you didn’t care.  All it did was add tinder to the flame of pleasure.
Tears stung the back of your eyes.  You always cried when he fucked you like this, and he either didn’t care or didn’t notice; it was just so intense, you couldn’t stop yourself.  You would probably be bleeding when he was finally done with you, and you would definitely be sore (on the outside and inside) tomorrow.
“Gonna cry, bitch?  Can’t take it?” he hissed.  You always got wet when he talked like that.  Then again, you got wet whenever he talked at all.
Your voice came out hoarse and cracked when you spoke.  “Harder,” you barely managed to grit out through your teeth.
Instead what he did was pull out and flip you over, slapping you straight across the face.  There was nowhere to hide from him now, with your legs spread and your clothes torn to shreds, so you didn’t even try to suppress the moan when he hit you.  He grunted and hit you again, spinning your face the other way.  You wanted to ask him to hit you again but he just shoved himself inside you again, putting his weight on your neck as he wrapped a hand around it.  You couldn’t moan but you could arch your back; he pushed down on your stomach until you couldn’t do that anymore either, and it forced your g-spot to push right into his cock.  You would’ve screamed if you could; it felt so fucking good, too good, too much all at once.
Who could say how long that went on for?  It didn’t feel subject to time or space, it all just felt like sensation-- sensation which washed over you until you didn’t know how to experience anything else.  So often our bodies feel like machines, slaves to routine.  A body which must rise in the morning, rest in the evening; a mind which must toil over the past and worry for the future.  Now, you didn’t even know your own name-- you didn’t even understand what a name was for.  Your only purpose now, and your only goal, was to feel.
That was what you craved about this: the chance to forget about everything else.
At some point you were pulled back into reality by the way he was manhandling you, tossing you back onto your knees and pulling your body flush with his by your hair.
“Beg me to let you come,” he growled, but you couldn’t even think long enough to put a sentence together, let alone actually get it out.  He bit down on your shoulder and you whimpered in pain.
“P-please,” you sighed-- it came out so quiet that even you could barely hear it.  His teeth sunk in deeper; you tried to say it again but it was caught in your throat.
He pulled your head to the side by your hair, and slapped the half that was exposed.  “Beg me to let you come,” he repeated, slower, “you dumb fucking whore.”
“Please… please, let me come,” you mumbled.
“Louder.”
You hesitated, about to remind him that the hallways outside probably had people passing through and someone might hear you, but your hesitation was rewarded only with more violence as he hit you again-- even harder than the last time.  You yelped and bit down on your lip.
You hadn’t realized how weak you were until he let go and you instantly fell to the floor, your hips held up by his hands but your face pressed against the cold cement.
“You can come,” he decided, almost flippantly, as he fucked into you deeper and harder.  It seemed like he knew your body better than you did: he made you come faster, for one, and he saw it coming sooner as well.  It was slightly embarrassing, but then again, you were on your knees in a broom closet so that was sort of beside the point.
It seemed to hit you all at once, and with no sign of stopping.  You reached up to claw at the wall but it did nothing to keep you stable as shocks reverberated through your body.  You were about to space out again when you felt the metal tip of his thumb press against your tighter rim.
“W-wait,” you gasped, but he pressed in further and your words were lost to a whimper.
“Oh, you can’t play innocent with me, sweetheart.  I know you want me to fuck this little ass.  Go ahead, say it.”
“F-fuck my ass, please,” you begged.  It sounded shameless, but there was certainly shame (and fear) tingling in your gut.
The thumb pushed in all the way, and before you could deal with the way that felt, it was replaced with two fingers.  You hissed from the sting, but willed your body to relax as you fell back into that headspace and simply let everything happen to you.
The transition from two to three fingers was barely noticeable.  But you definitely noticed when he pulled everything out of you, guiding the head of his cock higher up.  He moved your hips closer as you went limp in his grasp-- a drooling, mindless fuckdoll who, apparently, spread your legs for him whenever he wanted.  It was some undefinable mixture of demeaning and liberating.
His cock pressed against your opening, and when it finally pushed past the tightness with a nauseating pop, you bit your lip.
You almost felt prideful when you heard him moan; he was usually pretty quiet.  How you managed to feel any sense of achievement or value when you were face down in a broom closet getting fucked up the ass… that was a different issue.
He didn’t give you much time to adjust as he picked up his speed, fucking you so much gentler than he ever did but still rougher than you were expecting, somehow.  Each time he was buried all the way inside, you felt like you were miles beyond your body’s limits, fuller and wider than was possible.  It made you wet, uselessly.
When he moved faster, his balls slapped against your pussy and you could hear how much you were loving this, even as disgusting and painful as it was.  He leaned forward to push your face into the ground and fucked you harder.  The new angle pushed him even deeper, opened you up even more brutally, and you couldn’t suppress a cry of pain.
“How’s it feel, huh?” he taunted.
“It hurts,” you told him with a voice much whinier than you intended, but you weren’t exactly complaining.  And you definitely weren’t asking him to stop.
Not that you were worried that he would.  If anything, it only inspired him to push you further as he grabbed your hips tight to slam you back onto his cock.
He didn’t announce that he was close, but you could just barely tell based on the way your hazy brain couldn’t ignore the rapid increase in his thrusts.  A broken growl was your signal that he was filling you with come but you were too numb to feel any difference.  He kept fucking you through it, only stopping once every drop was inside you.  When he slowed to a stop you sighed with relief, wincing a little as he pulled out and trying to ignore the lewd way that your hole flexed and constricted.  You felt his come leaking as it dripped down over your pussy, down your thighs and onto the floor.
The smell in this cramped space was inescapable, and putrid, and only now did you really become aware of it.
“Don’t just lay there,” he scoffed as he stood up, “come over here and get on your knees.”
At this point, you were so well-trained that you were obeying his words before you’d even processed them or taken the time to question what his intentions were.
You looked up at him with watery eyes as he stroked his cock right above your face.  He was looking at you with the most uninterpretable expression… cold eyes, tightened jaw, lips curled into a grimace.
“Clean me off,” he demanded, shoving his softening length into your mouth, “come on, clean my cock off.”
You grimaced but did as he asked, sucking and licking as it slid down your tongue and back into your throat.  Didn’t take much of him for you to start choking, considering his size.
“Breathe through your nose,” he offered as a solution, but you had been trying to avoid smelling or tasting it.  You didn’t even want to think about it.
You even took the time to lick his balls clean, too, and they tasted like your own arousal, bringing back some memories which managed to disturb you in spite of their recentness.  When he was satisfied, he pushed you back onto the floor by your throat, and you swallowed thickly.
As per usual, he said nothing as he stuffed himself back into his jeans, or as he made a hasty exit.  When he shut the door behind him, you were left there used up and tossed aside; dress ruined, mascara smeared, panties torn, come seeping out of you, gasping for breath.  You had no plan for getting out of here without everyone seeing you; you had no plan for getting out of this sick, addictive cycle with him.  In the meantime, you would sit in the empty room and wait for the blood flow to return to your numbed extremities, wait for the aftershocks of arousal and orgasm to subside, and let yourself bask in the comfort of the dark.

Happy’s Hydrant wasn’t too packed tonight, but once the next round of first responders clock out, they will come in looking for a stiff drink. You sat in your usual spot with a drink in hand, waiting for your favorite fire squad to finish their shift. It’s been a long two weeks with you taking on extra shifts while covering your own, making it tough to see your friends. Although you did have a chance to talk with Bruce about getting set up with one of the call center therapists,  and that’s how you met Dr. Wendy Lawson at Project Pegasus.
At first, it was tough, you didn’t know what to expect, and it felt like a weird first date. You wanted to be open and honest, but it’s hard to get comfortable and share your problems with a stranger, but Dr. Lawson surprised you. She was very open and honest with you about how she wanted to help you as long as you were willing to try, and with Steve’s encouraging words, you felt like it didn’t hurt to give it a shot.
Your phone vibrating on the table brought you back to the present. You glanced down at the screen, smirking when you saw Steve’s face.
Steve: We are heading out now. Sam had a rough last call, but Bucky convinced him to come out for a few. Be there soon :)
YN: Poor Sam. I’ll be here!
The one person you stayed in contact with these last two crazy weeks was Steve. You talked to him at least once a day on the phone, only ever exchanging good morning texts. It felt outdated to talk on the phone, but you liked listening to him talk, and his laugh never failed to bring a smile to your face. You could talk to Steve about anything and everything, and it was so easy and fun. With Billy, it always felt like a second job, but with no benefits and one wrong move would get you fired.
A cold shiver ran up your spine, sparking you to sit up straighter. It sends a tingle to your hands, causing them to fidget with your drink in front of you. You gulped, taking a quick glance over your shoulder, but didn’t see anyone you recognized. You shake your head, running your hand down your face. You let out a deep breath, tracing the stained circled rings on the wooden bar. If Billy was going to find you, wouldn’t he have done it already?
Your eyes snapped to the front door creaking open and sighed in relief, seeing your brother's big frame walking through the door followed by Steve, Sam, and Bucky. Bucky’s arm was wrapped around Sam's shoulders, almost as if he was pulling him into the bar, and Sam had the most annoyed look on his face.
You hopped off your seat as the guys made their way over to you. When Sam got closer, you pulled him into a big hug. He hesitated at first, then loosely wrapped his arms around you. “Come on, Wilson. I don’t hug just anybody.”
He wrapped his arms tighter around you. “This is new for you.” You didn’t need to see him to know he was smiling.
“New beginning.”
“So I’ve heard, I’m proud of you, girl.” Sam squeezed you tighter, letting a laugh escape you, and he chuckled, swaying you back and forth.  Steve caught your eye, winking at you with his signature smirk on his face, and you couldn’t help but return the smile.
“Thanks, Sam. How you doing?” You pulled Sam at arm's length, seeing a slight sadness in his eyes.
“It’s tough, but I’ll get through it,” Sam nodded with a half shrug. “We all have our own ways of coping.” You shot him a warm smile, returning to your stool at the bar.
“How was your shift, fellas?” Happy interrupted, handing out coasters. Sam grunted to himself, taking one of the stools beside you while Steve took the other one.
“Get this man anything he wants. It’s on me,” Bucky replied, patting Sam on the back.
“The usuals?” Happy asked, earning a nod from everyone.
“This doesn’t mean I like you,” Sam added with a side-eye.
“Wouldn’t expect anything less. Besides, I hate you too much not to let anything get in the way of that.”
“Good.”
“Where did Val and Carol run off to?” You asked, trying to get off the hard topic.
“Oh, they had some other things to attend to,” Thor answered, taking the seat on the other corner by Steve.
“I’m sure they did,” you smirked, eyeing your drink.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Steve inquired, nudging his knee playfully into yours under the counter.
“Nothing.” You take a sip of your drink, peeking over at Steve out of the corner of your eye. “It doesn’t mean anything.”
“You’re lying.” Thor pointed a finger at you, and you locked your mouth with an invisible key and threw it over your shoulder.
“What you’re saying is you have gossip, and you’re not even going to tell us? I mean, the least you could do is tell me -- It might make me feel better,” Sam whined, leaning in closer to you.
“Fine,” you sighed, then covered his ear and whispered, “I would tell you, but then I’d have to kill you, or at least Carol or Val would.”
“Oh my god, guys. It’s so crazy,” Sam smiled, showing off his gap-toothed smile before taking a sip of his beer. “Thanks, YN. I’m already feeling better.”
“I’m hurt, too,” Bucky stated, leaning into your view. You rolled your eyes, and Sam nudged you in the shoulder, shaking his head no.

The bar continued to fill up with first responders getting off their shifts and your brother snuck off to make his rounds around the bar. It still baffled you how he could do that, but then again, he has always been the friendly brother. The rest of you stepped away from the bar and took a spot at one of the tall tables near the pool tables. Steve, Sam, and Bucky were bickering about who was going to play the first game, and you took a seat on the high stools.
Steve plopped down on the stool across from yours, feeling his knees hit your legs. “Guess I am playing winner?”
“Makes sense because you are sooo good,” you scoffed with sarcasm dripping in your voice.
“What! I’m a great player.”
“Never beat me.” You took a sip of your drink, raising your eyebrows up your forehead.
“You wanna go another round?” Steve leaned forward, tilting his head at the other opened pool table.
“No, I just sat down.” You leaned back, resting your back against the backrest as Steve let out a soft chuckle.
You watched Bucky break the rack, causing another shiver to run up your spine. You looked away, chewing on your lip, rubbing your hands over your upper arms.
“You cold?” Steve asked from across the table, placing an open hand for you on the table.
“No, I’m just feeling a bit off tonight.” You shrugged, staring down at his hand before placing one of your hands in his.
“Is everything alright? How’s everything with Dr. Lawson?” Steve leaned in closer, running his thumb over your knuckles.
“Things are great with her. I don’t know…it’s like lately…I get this weird feeling someone is watching me, and this chill runs through me.” You shrugged, rubbing your lips together and staring down at your joined hands.
“Have you talked with her about it?”
“Not yet.” You bite your bottom lip and look up, meeting his eye. “I have only met with her a few times, and I don’t know…it’s a hard topic to bring up.”
“I get it,” Steve breathed, keeping his eyes on you. “Everything you don’t want to talk about is hard to talk about, but the more open you are with her, the more she will know how to help you.” You nodded. “You can tell me anything, and I can tell you everything is going to be alright, but she will help you get to the root of the problem instead of tackling the branches.”
You nodded with a slight smirk. “You are full of metaphors, aren’t you?”
“Only when I am coming up with speeches off the top of my head,” he smiled, squeezing your hand once more before letting it go.
“Dude, you’re cheating,” Bucky shouted, pointing at Sam moving the white ball to a better access point.
“I’m in pain.”
“How long are you going to use that line?”
“All night,” Sam answered, taking a sip of his beer. “Because I can.” Bucky shook his head and rolled his eyes as he lined up to take a shot.
“This is going to go on all night.” Steve shook his head at the two men, running a hand through his hair.
“But it wouldn’t feel right if they didn’t,” you chuckled, staring at them.
“Got that right.” Steve nodded, clearing his throat. Your eyes connected with his, and noticed a small bead of sweat on his brow. “Hey, I ah…I have been meaning to ask you if you wanted to go out and maybe do something tomorrow night?”
You smirked at the nervousness in his voice. “What did you have in mind?”
“Do you trust me?”
“Yes.”
“Okay, well, wear something comfortable because it is going to be a very active date.”
“Oh…one of those dates, huh? Didn’t think clothes were necessary.” You smiled, biting your lip, not missing the rush of color appearing on his face.
“Maybe another time for that,” he winked. “You don’t have to work the next day, do you?”
“No, why is it going to be an all-night activity?” You wiggled your eyebrows. “You’re digging yourself deeper into a hole, Steve.”
“You know what, forget it.” Steve shook his head, leaning against the backrest of his stool. He crossed his arms across his chest, failing to keep his smile at bay.
“No, no, no. Okay, okay, something comfy. Got it.” You nodded, and Steve let out a soft chuckle, causing his shoulders to shake.
_____________
Steve watched you give Sam a long goodbye hug, sharing words only the two of you could hear. Steve walked over, and you wrapped your arms around his waist, and he pulled you in close over your shoulders. He kissed your forehead, and as you pulled away, you placed a quick kiss on his cheek. As Steve watched you walk away, he felt a pat on his shoulder and looked over to see Thor giving him a thoughtful smile. It wasn’t long after you left that Bucky and Thor soon followed, leaving Sam and him deciding whether to play another game of pool or not.
“How about one more game, then I got to head out?” Sam offered, realizing they were the last two remaining.
“Rack’em.”
Steve put the balls in the rack and set up the triangle on one end of the billiards table. He stepped back, bumping into someone. “Oh, crap--” Steve took a step forward and turned around “--I’m sorry, man. Didn’t think anyone was behind me.”
“It’s alright. I can be pretty stealthy.” The guy looked at Steve and narrowed his eyes. “Wait, aren’t you Steve? I met you at the first responder's grill out a few weeks ago, right?”
“Oh yeah, that’s right.” Steve’s eyes lit up, remembering the good-looking guy with a beard. “It was Jig, right?” He nodded. “This is Sam Wilson; he also works at Station 107.”
Jig reached over and shook his hand. “Nice to meet you.”
“Where do you work at?”
“Started at the Northeast LA Police Department a couple of months ago.”
“Oh, the Northeast--” Sam raised his eyebrows. “--my friend Riley works up there.”
“Yeah, he’s on leave because his wife had a son.”
“That’s right, I forgot about that.” Sam clapped his hands together. “I have been meaning to send him a card. Well, he’s a great guy if you need someone to get beers with.”
“I’ll keep that in mind; he might need a few nights out when he gets back.”
“He might,” Sam chuckled, glancing down at his phone. “Actually, you know what, Jig could you take my spot?” He offered him the pool Q, and Jig took it. “It was nice meeting you. I’m glad Stevie is getting out there and making more friends besides us at the station.” Sam patted Steve on the back, pulling on his jacket.
“Have a good one, Sam.” Steve waved, shaking his head.
“He seems like a good guy,” Jig added, pointing at Sam over his shoulder as he walked out the door.
“Great guy, but he beats himself up a lot when something goes wrong on a call. Like one did today, but I think he is feeling better now.”
“That’s rough.”
“It’s hard--” Steve nodded, leaning on the pool Q “--but I am sure you have had similar experiences.”
“For sure,” Jig nodded. “Is it your turn, or are we going to rerack it?”
“Rerack it.”
The game was turning out to be a heated match. Jig had two stripes left, and Steve had one solid. Jig lined up for a shot, and Steve noticed a certain ring on his hand.
“Wait...are you married?” Steve asked, pointing to his own ring finger on his left hand.
Jig smirked, taking the shot, but missed his striped ball completely. “Yeah, but we are going through a little bit of a rough patch. Um…we are separated right now, but I can’t really give up on her just yet,” he breathed with a half shrug. “My wife never liked me being a police officer, and how I put myself in danger every time I am on duty.” He wrapped his hands around the pool Q, leaning against it. “She always wanted a family, but she doesn’t want to do it alone if something happens, you know.”
“It’s normal for a loved one to feel like that in our line of work.” Steve nodded, lining up his shot. He takes the shot and sinks the ball in the left corner pocket. “No one knows what will happen on the job.”
“You’re not wrong.”
“Eightball, center pocket,” Steve stated, setting up his shot. He hit the white ball, which hit the number eight ball but missed the pocket by an inch. “Awww, man.”
“So close,” Jig chuckled.” What about you, Steve? You got anyone special?”
Steve leaned against his pool cue, and a smile hit his face. “Sort of... well… I don’t really know what to call it, but we hang out a lot. I mean, we haven’t put a label on it yet. We both have been through a lot these last couple of years, so we aren’t rushing anything.”
“Seems like your falling hard for…”
“YN,” he smiled at the ground, feeling a slight blush rush to his cheeks. “She is a 911 dispatcher, and I actually lost my dispatcher cherry to her.”
“Dispatcher cherry?”
“It’s when a fireman talks to a dispatcher on the scene for the first time.”
“That’s a thing?”
“Thank you.” Steve pointed at him, nodding his head. “I didn’t know it was a thing either, but I’m glad I’m not the only one.”
Jig chuckled, shaking his head. “That’s crazy how you both are kind of in the same area of work. What’s she like?” Jig leaned down to take his shot.
“She’s amazing. We have so much fun when we hang out, and we never run out of things to talk about.”
“Wow…and here I was thinking it was just a fling.”
“I assume you would know something about that,” Steve chuckled, gesturing his hands at him.
“Yeah, you’re not the first one to notice. My friends often called me The Beaut of our group. And yes, I’ve had my fair share before my wife came along and put me in my place,” he chuckled, hitting the white ball, and it went right past his striped ball.
“Ouch! Thought you had that one.”
“Me too!” He sighed, shaking his head. “But, she does sound pretty special.”
“She is, and it’s even crazier that I work with her brother, Thor,” Steve stated, moving into position to take his next shot.
“I should warn you; sometimes, it’s the siblings that ruin your relationship.”
“How so?” Steve asked, narrowing his eyes at him.
“When I met my wife’s brothers for the first time. The one, Lance, --” he rolled his eyes “--from the start hated my guts, and I didn’t even do anything to him. He didn’t even give me a chance. And then her other brother, Tim, well, we got along at first, but now he doesn’t say much to me. I think it might be one of the reasons she left me.”
“Man, that’s rough. I’m sorry. Can’t you call and try to talk with her?”
“Not if she doesn’t answer her phone.”
“Well, if you need me to, I can put in a good word for you. From what I can tell, you seem like a pretty good guy.”
“Thanks, I might have to take you up on that,” he said, nodding his head.
“Right corner pocket,” Steve called as he sunk the ball in the pocket he called. “Yes!”
“You’re one hell of a billiards player, Steve.”
“Yeah, I know,” Steve nodded. “Another game?”
“Rack’em.”
____________
You swung back and forth in your swivel chair, trying to figure out what Steve had planned for tonight. Something comfy and easy to move in? Dancing, but you didn’t peg him for a dancer. Were we going hiking or playing some sort of sport? What did that man have planned? You leaned forward in your chair as a call came in.
“911, what’s your emergency?”
“The cliff…it collapsed...and my...my...,”  a female voice stuttered.
“Ma’am, where are you?”
“On the Abalone Cove Trail.”
“I am sending the closest unit your way.”
“Do you know if anyone went over?”
“My cameraman Gary. He was figuring out the best shot and the cliff just gave out.”
“Okay, just please stay on the line with me.” You radioed into Station 127. “Captain Quill, we have a cliff collapse rescue, prepare for a possible aerial recon. One known victim and he goes by Gary.”
“Gary. Copy that dispatch. The 127th in route, Quill out.”
“Okay, ma’am, my name is YN. What is yours?”
“Christine...Christine Everhart.”
“Okay, Christine, units are on their way, and I need you to stay where you are. Don’t try to look over the edge to see if you can see him. Just stay put. We want to keep you safe, and as soon as units arrive, they will check on Gary.
“Okay..okay.” She breathed. “It just happened so fast, and he just...”
“I understand,” you consoled, nodding your head for your own reassurance.
“He didn’t even stand a chance. I don’t...I need to see if he is okay.”
“No, Christine, stay where you are. Responders are almost there.”
“Okay, I feel like I could be doing more.”
“You’re doing more by waiting for responders to get there. I know it’s hard, but it’s safer for you to wait because you don’t want the cliff to give out even more. Don’t worry. They're a few blocks away now. Stay calm Christine, and help will be there soon.”
“Yes, yes, okay. You’re right.” She took in a sharp breath as you heard sirens in the background. She let out a deep breath, and you could feel her visibly relax through the phone. “They're here. Thank you so much. Can I hang up now?”
“You’re welcome, and yes, you can hang up whenever you want to.”
“Okay, bye.”
The soundwaves dropped into a straight line on one of the screens as the line went dead. It always reminded you of working in the ER, seeing a heart stop with the same straight line, a dull tone beeping on the monitor, and doing everything you could do to bring them back, but with a phone call, the only thing you could do was use your voice.
You leaned back in your chair with your hand on top of your head and let out a deep breath. “Another day, another call.”
“Tough call?” Bruce asked, looking over at you from his station.
“No, pretty cut and dry.” You shrugged, crossing your arms across your chest.
“You sound bored, but that’s a good thing. It means you’re getting in the swing of things and like what you are doing now.”
“It would seem that way, wouldn’t it,” you smiled.
“How are things going with Dr. Lawson?”
“It’s been going good. It takes a while to warm up to a stranger and reveal all your secrets to them, though.”
“Yeah, it’s tough, but once the trust is there. It gets easier.”
“That’s what I keep hearing. Thanks for recommending her, too.”
“No problem,” Bruce waved it off.
Your line ringing pulled you back to your station, giving a quick nod to Bruce as he stepped away.  “911, what’s your emergency?”
“Hi, so I have no internet?”
“And you think this is a problem 911 can solve?” You asked, trying to keep the annoyance out of your voice.
“Well yeah, don’t you help when there is an emergency?
“This isn’t one of those cases. Have you tried your cable company?” You breathed, rolling your eyes.
“Who?”
“Why don’t you pull out one of your bills, and call the number on there, and not call 911. It’s a good place to start to get your internet fixed.”
“Okay.”
“Good luck.” You click your space bar and hang up. You look over at Bruce and see him playing with his phone. “I hate non-emergency calls.”
“But, they are fun to talk about after.”
“This is true,” you chuckled, pointing at him.
 ____________
Opening the front door, you rushed upstairs to shower and get ready. Steve was going to be here any minute, and you had little to no time to get ready.  Luis insisted on sharing this call he took, and like every story, he has to make sure to add in all the little details. You hopped in the shower, jumped back out, slipped on your robe, hearing the gate buzzing by the front door. “Perfect timing.” You clicked on the button to open the gate and grinned, seeing Cosmo tagging along.
Steve knocked on the front door, and you pulled it open. Steve was smirking at Cosmo, but his eyes moved to yours and then traveled down your robe.
“Hey, sorry, I’m running a little behind.”
“It’s okay; I can wait. Cosmo is still good to chill out here while we go out, right?”
“Yes. I’ll just go finish getting ready. Make yourself at home.” You motioned around and started back up the stairs to get ready.
You stared into your closet, biting your lip, trying to figure out what to put on. On the plus side, Steve was wearing basketball shorts and a t-shirt, so whatever it was didn’t involve the outdoors. You threw a few options on your bed, hearing a commotion coming up the steps.
“COSMO! COSMO, GET BACK DOWN HERE,” Steve shouted in his dad voice. “She doesn’t want you staring at her while she is getting dressed.”
Cosmo strolled into your bedroom and jumped on the bed, ignoring his dad’s commands. His tongue was hanging out, and what appeared to be a smile on his face.
“It’s fine,” you called, smiling over at Cosmo. “Dad is just jealous he doesn’t get to see me naked first,” you baby talked Cosmo, scratching his head. You put your hands on your hips, staring down at the outfits in front of you. You sighed and threw together a comfy outfit.
____________
“Steve, is the blindfold necessary? I could’ve just closed my eyes.”
“Where’s the fun in that?” He chuckled, taking your hand. It sent a fuzzy feeling to your head, and you couldn’t help the smile showing up on your face. You heard a door unlock and a creak when he pulled it open. “Watch your step; there is a slight incline.”
You took a careful step, and the smell of this place hit your nose. “It smells like a gym and dirty socks.”
He takes off your blindfold, and you’re met with a big neon sign shining The Trampoline Sanctum on the far wall. “A trampoline park? How’d you manage this?”
“Thor knows the guy who owns it. I think his name is Wong.”
“And he trusted you?”
“Well, he trusted Thor, who then trusts me, so it cancels out.”
“Is that how that works?” You questioned, narrowing your eyes at him. He reached into his back pocket, pulling out a pair of colorful grippy socks.
“Of course.” He shrugged with pursed lips. “So put these on, and let’s jump.” You took the socks from him, and he took off in a sprint down the short ramp and to the trampolines.
“What a man child,” you chuckled, shaking your head at him.
You sit down on one of the benches and slip on the socks, glancing at Steve to see him bouncing around. He does a few somersaults and backflips in the air, and then he runs down the long trampoline and flips into the foam pit.
You walked over to him, crawling out of the pit. “I would break something if I did that.”
“Try it; here I will show you.” He takes your hand and leads you to one of the wider trampolines. You stand off to the side when he starts bouncing. “You see, all you have to do is get enough air--” he breathed “-- and then flip,” he grunted, throwing himself back as he landed perfectly with a shallow bounce on the trampoline. “Easy.”
“Easy for you to say, Firefighter.”
“I’ll help you, come on,” he smirked, motioning for you to take the spot in front of him.
You hesitated, taking a step onto the trampoline across from Steve. He placed his hand lightly on your lower back, and you grabbed his hand and put it against your back. “I’m not fragile, Steve. I trust you.” He smirked, biting his bottom lip. “What do I have to do?”
Steve was a great teacher, explaining how to control your body and where to focus your weight. He helped you a couple of times, and by the seventh try, you could do it on your own.
“Heck yes. I think it’s time to try out for the Olympics.” You held your hands up like a gymnast and walked over to Steve with a smile. “Thanks.”
“You did great!” He held up his hand, and you high-fived him.
“Now what movement is next: bars, vault, floor. I'm ready for anything.”
He laughed and shook his head. “Let's try a back handspring and then land in the foam.”
“Can I get a visual?”
“Sure.” Steve took off in a jog on the long trampoline, flipping and then landing in the foam.
“I retire,” you said and walked away from him, making him chuckle. You smirked, turning back around and helping him out of the pit, but instead of pulling him out, he pulled you in. “AHH…Steve,” you laughed, “that's gonna bruise.” You both crawled over to the edge, and he pulled you out!
“Race you through the obstacle course.”
“You’re on.”
___________
Steve laid down right next to you on one of the trampolines where you were trying to catch your breath while Steve was already breathing normally. “How are you--” you heaved, clutching your stomach“--not breathing hard?”
“Genetics,” he joked, turning to face you as he rested his elbow against the mat with his head in his hand.
“What...did they make you in a bottle?” You scoffed, rolling your eyes.
“Nope, I am pretty sure my parents did it the old fashion way. You know, they…”
“Okay, okay, I don’t need to hear about it,” you interrupted him, pushing him on the shoulder. He chuckled, clutching his chest and falling onto his back before returning to his position. You turned your head to the side, seeing him gazing at you with his ever-famous smirk. “You scare me, Steve Rogers.”
His smirk quickly disappeared, glancing down at the trampoline then back at you. “Really? Why?”
“Because I tell you things I can’t even tell myself.” You looked up at the ceiling. “I get this fuzzy feeling in my stomach, and my heart speeds up whenever I’m around you. I don’t know whether I am nervous or excited or maybe both. You’re such a fun person to be around, and I don’t think I have smiled this much in such a long time. It’s almost like I don’t deserve you, but then maybe you are just what I need.” You bite your lip, peeking over at him.
A small smile breaks across his face, and he glances down at your lips. He sits up on his elbow, staring down at you. A spark ignites up your spine, sending a warm chill to your skin. He cups your chin, his blue eyes flutter to yours, causing your heart to beat faster.
“You’re all I need,” he breathed, licking his lips.
His hand sends goosebumps to the back of your neck, feeling your face heat up. Your breathing grew heavier as your eyes drifted to his pink lips. Steve brushed his thumb against your cheek, compelling you to reconnect with his blue eyes. He leaned down, and your eyes fluttered close.
“Hey, are you Thor’s friend?” A man yelled out.
Steve’s head dropped onto your shoulder, letting out an annoyed sigh. You opened your eyes and couldn’t help but giggle at him.
“YES!” He lifted his head enough to respond. He stood up, offering his hand to you, and you took it. He pulled you up fast, making you collide into his chest. He smiled down at you, taking your hand and walking over to the man. “You Wong?”
“I am.” Steve held out his hand, and Wong shook it.
“I’m Steve, and this is YN, Thor’s sister.”
“That’s right; I forgot he has a sister.” He offered his hand to you, and you shook it. “How are you two enjoying The Trampoline Sanctum?” Wong put a hand on his hip, motioning around with his other hand.
“It’s fun; the obstacle course is great,” Steve smiled at him.
He nodded. “Thank you. My partner wanted more wow factor, but we were able to compromise on a few things.”
“I think it’s great! You got a variety of different activities to do here, and……”
You zoned out, watching Steve out of the corner of your eye as he continued to talk about trampolines with Wong. You couldn’t help but feel in awe of Steve. He could strike up a conversation with anyone if he wanted to and made sure they felt appreciated. It might be a topic he doesn’t know anything about, but he was willing to listen to what they have to say and give his input. You squeezed his hand in yours, not missing the side of his mouth perk up while he talked with Wong.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I should let you two get back to it. It was nice to meet you two, but carry on, don’t let me interrupt.” He winked, walking away, and Steve shot you a closed-mouth smile.
You leaned into him, nudging your elbow into his side. “Are you sure you don’t want to continue this date with Wong instead of me? I mean, you two really hit it off.” You pointed to Steve and where Wong disappeared to.
“Why, you jealous?” He arched an eyebrow at you, sporting a teasing smile.
“I plead the Fifth.”
He chuckled, shaking his head. “Should we get out of here?”
“Yeah,” you nodded. “I don’t feel like competing with Wong tonight.”
____________
You stepped up to the front door, pulling out your keys with Steve following behind with his hands in his pockets. Cosmo was on the other side of the door whining, and you could hear his dancing paws against the hardwood floor. You slid the key in, unlocking the door, and pushed it open. Cosmo greeted both of you and started spinning in frantic circles.
“Hey, Cosmo. Did you miss us?” You leaned down to scratch his head as he rolled onto his back, and you rubbed his belly. Steve chuckled, closing the door behind him. “Who’s a good boy and kept the house clean? Cosmo is a good boy,” you praised in a baby voice.
“Hey Cosmo, are you ready to go back home? It’s way past your bedtime?” Steve asked, earning a bark from him.
“I think that’s a no,” you added with a carefree smirk, standing up straight as Cosmo went to hide behind your legs and out of Steve’s view.
“I can still see you. You’re not hiding from me.”
You glanced behind you, seeing Cosmo staring up at you as if asking if you had his back. You bit your lip, shooting him a quick nod. “How about this…why don’t we take you on a quick walk before you leave? That is if your dad is okay with it?” You peeked over your shoulder, noticing Steve watching your interaction with a playful smile tugging at his lips.
“A late-night walk,” Steve paused, rubbing his lips together. “Would you like that, Cosmo?” Steve raised his eyebrows at the dog, and Cosmo took off to the other room but quickly returned with his leash in his mouth.
“Do you think he hid it on purpose?” You asked as Steve took the leash from him, shaking his head and latching it onto his collar.
“At this point, I wouldn’t put it past him, but I think it’s a yes to a walk,” Steve chuckled with his hands on his hips.
It was the perfect night for a walk, not too cold and not too warm. You and Steve walked side by side with Cosmo trotting along in front of you. Steve’s hand brushed against yours, sending a spark up your arm and goosebumps to your skin.
“Ahhh…late night walks. This brings back memories.” Steve nudged your side, making you peek up at him out of the corner of your eye.
“And if those memories serve me right--” you glanced at him, seeing his signature smirk on his face  “--you still owe me an answer to a question.”
“How do you remember that?”
“Hard to forget a round of twenty questions with a cute guy, who walks you home late and lets me keep his jacket.”
If it wasn’t for the street light you passed, you would've missed the pink color appearing on Steve’s cheeks. He rubbed his lips together, nodding. “Okay, then, fire away. What’s your question?”
“Maybe another time.” Steve’s head snapped in your direction, narrowing his eyes at you, and you couldn’t help but laugh at his expression.
“I like hearing that sound,” Steve winked, shooting you a crinkled eye smile.
“Oh my god, you’re such a flirt.” Your face heated up, playfully pushing him away from you, getting a laugh out of him. He leaned right back into you, taking your hand and lacing his fingers between yours.  He squeezed your hand, sending a warmth of comfort through you, making you crack a heartfelt smile.
“Thor told me you’re making your mom’s cookies when the kids come for fire safety next week.”
“I am.” You nodded. “He talked me into it, but I am almost positive he is going to take them and hide them from everyone.”
“I don’t think he could get away with that,” he scoffed. “We would all know it. Sam would be the first one to figure it out.”
“He loves those cookies!” You stopped at the crosswalk, waiting for the walking figure to light up. “Are you ready to be bombarded with little kid questions?”
“Heck yes,” he grinned, nodding his head. “I love answering their questions because they have no filter. Like, there was this one kid when I was with my Brooklyn unit. He came off kind of quiet and hung around in the back of the group. I was walking next to him, and he pulled on my pants to get my attention, so I leaned down. He held his hand over my ear so the other kids wouldn’t hear and asked: 'Does being a firefighter get girls to like you?'"
“Awww…What was your response?”
“I told him it helps, but it is better to be a good man and treat girls with respect.”
“So proper of you.”
“Hey, I was being honest with him. It’s how I got you, isn’t it,” he winked, forcing you to roll your eyes. The walking guy lit up on the stoplight, and the three of you crossed the street.
“As awesome as some kids are, beware of the teachers,” you added, squeezing his hand.
“Yeah, I’ve heard some stories. According to some of the guys, this is Thor’s favorite time of the year.”
You scoffed, shaking your head. “That doesn’t surprise me at all. Remind me I should set him up with one of my coworkers. He needs a nice girl; not a one-nighter girl.”
“I’ll remind you, but I hope you don’t get jealous if they flirt with me.”
“Jealous, oh please--” you waved it off “--I think you are kind of stuck with me,” you winked at him, squeezing his hand.
“Yeah, I think I am.”
You two strolled through the streets talking, laughing, and joking with one another. Steve looked down at his watch, realizing it was well past midnight, and you two were walking around for at least two hours. It’s a good thing Cosmo was being such a trooper. Walking up to your front door, you unlocked it, and Cosmo was right next to you, waiting to go inside.
“No, Cosmo. We are going; we are bidding YN a goodnight, then we’re leaving.” Cosmo let out a huff and sat down between you and Steve.
You cracked a smile at them. “He is gonna sleep good tonight.”
“Well, he is the one that wanted to go on a walk,” Steve smiled down at his dog, who was avoiding all eye contact with him.
You licked your lips, rubbing them together. “I had fun tonight, Steve.”
“Good. I wanted to do something a little out of the box, so I’m glad you had fun.” You chuckled softly, fidgeting with your hands, peeking back up at Steve. He clenched his jaw, almost like he was having a battle inside his head. “Have a good night, YN.” He takes a step towards you and wraps you into a hug. You close your eyes, letting out a sigh, and wrap your arms around him to hug him back. He squeezed you close, and you swallowed back your disappointment as you both pulled away from each other.
“Goodnight, Steve.” You shot him a tight smile, looking down at Cosmo.
“Alrighty, Cosmo. Let’s go.” Steve took a step down the short stairs but stopped when he realized Cosmo was refusing to go. He glanced at you with his tongue hanging out and then looked over at Steve, letting out a frustrated huff. “Don’t give me that look.” Steve grimaced, shaking his head. “What is it boy?” The dog barked and whined in response. “You know I can’t understand you when you’re shouting.”
The dog glanced between you and Steve once more and then laid down. “Cosmo, we don’t have time for this. YN wants to get to sleep, and it’s way past your bedtime. You’re just overtired…I think.” Cosmo huffed, forcing Steve to scoff, placing his hands on his hips.
You bit the inside of your cheek to keep from laughing at the cute exchange.  It was like a dad trying to figure out what his son wants to do. “I think I might have an idea that could help.”
“Oh yeah, what’s that?” Steve caught your eye as you walked over to him. Feeling your heart beating loudly in your ears, you caressed his face and kissed him. His lips were warmed and hesitant at first, but soon he found his confidence. Steve wrapped his arms around you and leaned in, pulling you closer. Your hands travel to his hair, running your fingers through it. Your lips danced around each other as if it was a choreographed routine. It was perfect; it felt right.
You pulled apart, resting your foreheads against each other. His eyes flickered to yours, trying to catch his breath. Your gaze met his pink lips again when Cosmo barked. You and Steve both smiled, eyeing Cosmo. “He was tired of waiting, too.”
“Thank you,” Steve replied, forcing you to quirk a brow at him.
“For what?”
“Making the first move. I was going to kick myself if I left and didn’t kiss you tonight.”
“Why didn’t you? I mean, you’re not the goody-two-shoes everyone thinks you are.”
He let out a soft chuckle, his warm breath hitting your lips. “I didn’t want to scare you away or come on too strong. I guess I was waiting for the perfect moment.” Steve shrugged. “It almost happened earlier, but Wong.”
You beamed at him, running your thumb across his cheek, watching his eyes fill with desire. “It doesn’t matter if it’s the perfect moment; it just has to be with the right person.”
“I think we should try it again, you know, just to make sure.” Steve gazed into your eyes, pulling you close and capturing his lips with yours.

AN: Thanks for reading Part 14. About time they kissed, am I right? It's been a long time coming. The whole kiss scene at the end was kind of inspired by the Schitts Creek episode. The one where Patrick didn't kiss David, but it was the other way around. I don't know why, but I find that moment super adorable, and their chemistry is just so fun to watch! And she is finally giving therapy a chance, and from the looks of this chapter, it seems to be helping. Also, Steve's friend from the grill out made another appearance, and we learned a little more about him. Could this be the start of a great friendship, or are they just gonna be billiard/bar buddies? And what did you think of their date night at the trampoline park and Wong's cameo? I thought it would be better than the usual dinner/movie date. I will share that when one of my friends read this part and Wong interrupted their kiss, my friend commented, 'READ THE ROOM, WONG!' Now I can't help but laugh every time I read that part. 😂😂 Anyways, comments always welcome, hope yall are enjoying it so far! Thanks again!
