darry x paul rating: general word count: 6.7k

Paul and Darry were reminding him less and less of how he and Johnny were and more of Elizabeth and Mr.Darcy throughout the novel, Pride And Prejudice, which Ponyboy had just started. The only difference is that in the chapter he’s currently reading, Elizabeth and Mr.Darcy are still working through their reasons not to finally fall in love, whereas Darry and Paul have already set aside the differences that prevented them from forming a close relationship. Or The Darry/Paul Madras shirt fic that became way more complicated than it had to be.

“See? I told you the shirt would look good,” Paul said as he fixed the collar around Darry’s neck.

Darry’s cheeks were red as a tomato. He must have been running around all afternoon with Paul tossing the football around. Or maybe they went for a jog. “You’re just sayin’ that cause ya have to.”

“I’d say it even if I didn’t.” They were standing so close, they were probably breathing in each other’s breaths. Their noses were practically touching. “We still on for tomorrow?”

It seemed like Darry wanted to speak. But nothing came out when he opened his mouth despite the effort, as if all knowledge of the English language had suddenly vanished from existence. Instead, he just swallowed hard and nodded slowly. Darry wasn’t often at a loss for words. He was usually a pretty well spoken guy. Great at first impressions and an excellent public speaker. This was apparently not one of those times. But Ponyboy couldn’t quite figure out what had his brother so shell shocked.

Unfortunately, Paul moved from where he stood, previously obstructing the doorway that Ponyboy was speaking out of. He knew he was about to get caught and with all the stealth of a spy on their first day of training, he collided into one of the metal chairs, sending him backwards into an end table their mother kept a well watered flower vase on. Practically in slow motion, he watched as the vase teetered back and forth from the momentum of the table before toppling over to the ground. The glass shattered the moment it made contact with the hard, wood floor, spreading out into a million tiny shards almost impossible to see.

These forehead touches between friends/bros are so healing to me. Please, we need more of this. Platonic affection between men is beautiful, and I wish I had grown up with it.

Donnie and Raph assemble the wheelchair back together for Leo. And honestly, after being stuck in bed for a week, Leo is super excited to get away from the med bay! On the other hand, Donnie doesn't think he deserves any gratitude for finding the wheelchair pieces. It was his fault Leo was hurt in the first place! Donnie wanted to set things right and fix Leo. Truthfully, it looks like everything would be okay! But... Leo's not out of danger yet.

Brotherly Comfort

Headcanon:

The younger brothers sometimes go to their older siblings for comfort.

Leviathan is the chosen brother whenever someone struggles with overstimulation or generally being overwhelmed. The lights in his room can be dimmed and he'll even have some free spaces for others to rest in if they need a break from sensory input. One of those such places is even on the floor in case the feeling of fabric is simply too much.

For other problems or smaller sensory issues he may offer to watch a comfort anime with whichever brother of his needs it. He may not feel as at home in the older brother role but he still cares about his family. Wanting for them to feel safe and well, even if he's envious of something of theirs or they had a fight not too long ago.

Despite the brothers tendency to ridicule Mammon, they (especially the younger ones) go to him for emotional needs. While Belphie and Beel may get their affection mostly from each other. Mammon is still the safest bet to go to to cuddle or simply spend time with. Even if he'll act offended, if he thinks it's needed to cheer someone up, he'll gladly be the butt of the joke.

With other emotional needs such as peptalks or break ups he will also gladly provide. Especially since he will keep anything his brothers tell him secret. They don't want anyone else to know they even were in love with someone in the first place? Say no more, he won't let them know. His baby brothers might be grown up but he knows how vulnerable they are in such moments. He won't break their trust when it counts.

Lucifer is the go to if you feel unsafe. He'll be the moodiest but won't send any of his brothers away when they need him. He'll take them under his wings both metaphorically and literally. If they had a nightmare and feel unsafe he'll wrap them up in his wings. Making sure his brothers remember that they're no longer in the Celestial Realm but in the Devildome and that their brother will protect them at all cost.

But he's also a good choice if someone gets threatened. Depending on how serious the threat is and whether or not his brothers ask him for help, he'll make whoever dares to even think of hurting his brothers experience pain beyond imagination.

A Brother's Comfort

This is me trying my hand at the good old post-nightmare comfort trope. And an excuse to draw Mario giving Luigi a brotherly kiss on the head - just to get used to more open displays of platonic affection. (Let me reiterate: "brotherly"; "platonic". Do not tag as a ship!)

Fun fact: their pajamas are based on my own two sets that I have in red and in green. I think they are very Mario and Luigi coded, though believe it or not, it's not why I bought them. Red and green just happen to be my favorite colors so I wanted both. And later I thought it might be fun to draw these two wearing them someday. And that day is today, apparently. I always thought it'd be a much happier and more chill piece than this, but oh well. (I never even planned to make this; I just needed to vent my emotions and whoops, this happened).

Oh, and their bedroom is based on the one shown in Superstar Saga 3DS remake.

Heyo! My most sincere apologies for the wait! June was a weird month with exams. After everything, exhaustion hit me hard. But the good news is that my grades are very good, and I am over the moon about them. (I even got extra credit; I still feel giddy about that.) I am so glad my hard work paid off.
