Weird headcanon time but

Conner absolutely has a binder filled with ideas and locations for Kira and Trent’s wedding, Tommy and Jason’s wedding, and Cassidy and Ethan’s. And for some reason Dustin and Hunter’s.

Kira simply wants to know when and where Conner got the time to do all of that.

Conner’s response? “I want my friends to have a good wedding! That’s all!”

Fantasies/Frottage: Dustin, for all that he might seem the most airheaded himbo in the world, is actually very good at imagining the unimaginable in bed once he gets to know Conner a little better and wants to spice things up beyond his being on the Bottom and Conner being on top. He has this especially detailed fantasy involving that kink where one of them is used as a table and the other eats off of them before...well.  Conner is very basic in what he likes. Beyond getting tied up a little, he’s just happy to pour warm body oil over Dustin and settle his whole weight over him, rubbing and jerking each other off for hours without stopping. Boring, but serviceable. Touching: They’re both highly into sports, group activities, sharing their feelings through punches to the shoulder and hair tussles. They hold hands and full body hug at the drop of the hat. Oral Fixation/Fetish: After they were together for a few months, Dustin invented a game in which he’d buy a flavored chapstick, give Conner three kisses, and if he couldn’t place the flavor then Dustin got to apply actual lipstick to Conner.  He’s gotten very good at applying both. Crying: If Conner ever tickles him, Dustin will cry exactly thirty seconds in. Very cartoonish, very freeing; great for clearing away headaches or tiredness. Conner only really cries when he’s in a situation completely out of his control--after a battle has caused his teammates injuries--or when someone sits him down to watch two very specific movies: Babe, Pig in the City or the animated Mulan.  (Dustin has caught him crying over both movies, and gave him cuddles the whole time.) Sexual/Sleep Preferences: They both toss and turn and make a mess of the covers in bed. When and if they ever decide to move in together, they will have to put a down payment on a king size bed--like, the kind in ritzy hotels. Otherwise they risk accidentally beating the shit out of each other in their sleep. New AU: In the World of the Coinless, these two would have been both lucky and unfortunate to grow up in each other’s orbit. Lucky, because they found love in a world constantly and consistently falling into ruin; unlucky, in that the friends they might have had were few and always in danger. Conner came into the Coinless ranks after losing his brother in a friendly fire incident; Hayley having found him trying to drag his twin’s body out of an alley and getting him a meal to save him from going into complete catatonia. Dustin found himself accidentally chased into a Coinless sanctuary by two black sentries that only just backed off of snatching him after curfew by Conner, Shane, Tori, and Kira throwing bricks at them from overhead. It’s not the safest thing, finding love in this place; but they do cherish the time they have.

okay, i have given this much thought. arguably too much thought. these aren't in any real order besides to say danny is #1.

danny delgado: THIS IS THE HIMBO, EVERYONE! danny is the sweetest, kindest, gentlest man alive and he has absolutely no idea how big and strong he is. he's the st. bernard that thinks he's a lap dog. he's a little confused all the time, but he's got love in his heart. he apologizes to doorways when he bumps into them because he lacks the self-awareness of the broadness of his shoulders.

koda: he's not that stupid, but he's very silly and has his moments. he's a simple man. he just wants a burger, for the love of everything, GIVE HIM A BURGER SO WE CAN SEE HIM SMILE!! he's also so gosh darn strong... and we stan a king who's kind to everyone, especially kids and animals. koda basically has it all <3

rocky desantos: he's just here for a good time!! i trust him with my life, on the basis of… well, look at that smile :) he's also such a sweetheart… and don't even get me started on the golden retriever energy. he not only needs you to like him, but if you just met, you better believe you're one of his new best friends. i just feel like he's the type to have "volunteer firefighter and full time optimist" in his insta bio.

dominic hargan: dom tries really really hard and that's endearing. fran saw the vision, she saw it all! and she was so right!! yeah, maybe he does goof around! maybe he wouldn't know what an emotionally intelligent response was if it smacked him in the (very cute) face! but by god, he would (and did) physically throw himself in harm's way to protect someone who he just met and then totally miss the part where that person fell in love with him for just being him. himbo behavior.

conner mcknight: so here's the thing about conner... what he lacks in kindness on occasion (he has a character development arc!) and beefiness to an extent, he more than makes up for nearly in tallness alone. and that's not even to mention how silly dumb he can be... and that face?? there's not an ounce of self-awareness, except for about how pretty he is.

dustin brooks: no thoughts! just motocross, throwing an oily towel over his shoulder after a long day's work, and trying to make his friends happy!!! dustin is such a pure soul. he's not exactly beefy. but in his defense... it's hard to find a prettier, stupider boy that trusts everyone around him with absolutely no reason to do so. i love when he's saying something so ridiculous and everyone is just looking at him like "um what?" and he slowly picks up on the fact that they don't know what he's talking about... gets me everytime

wes collins: here we have a perfect specimen of the himbo subspecies, "rich boy himbo". his dumbness is mostly based on the fact that he's never really had to solve a problem in his life before the age of 20. what is laundry? you have to cook for yourself every day? there are problems money can't solve? but nevertheless, he is kind, he's generous, and maybe he's not maxed on all stats but!!! he's well rounded.

Shadow’s Fire (Book One)

“ The same thing that’s in me is also within you.”

It’s was one of the last things Kaleah Brooks’ father told her before he died. Though she survived, the trauma has left her haunted by nightmares and strange gifts that emerged from that night. With no one to turn to, she keeps busy caring for the animals at her local clinic.

When she stumbles upon an injured dog, Kaleah instinctively rushes to his aid. As she nurses the dog back to, she begins to notice strange things about him and her suspicions are confirmed when he reveals his true nature-he’s a hellhound that escaped the capture of a dark sorcerer named Mordrid Black.

Now, Kaleah must rely on her growing connection with Atrius and her friends as they embark on a perilous journey to stop him. Along the way, Kaleah’s hidden abilities begin to emerge, challenging her to confront her past and find the strength she never knew she had.

She is an empath; an ability that means she can feel others’ feeling. This is especially useful when she’s working with animals and can calm them. She later develops more abilities like light generation, and healing.

She has a silver cross-shaped necklace that given to her by her father on her 13th birthday.

She likes to watch movies and tv shows and she loves taking walks in the park.

She likes RnB and pop music.

She loves to cook and prefers preparing healthy food but has a sweet tooth. She loves anything with chocolate.

She has two cats, Samson and Dinah.

She lives in a shared space with her roommate, Raven McKnight.

She had two best friends, Olivia Gray and Elishay Watkins.

She also volunteers her time at a local clinic.

Her father, Deacon Brooks, was a veterinarian that ran his own practice before he passed away. Her love of animals was nurtured by him.

Her mother, Verbena Brooks, works at a hair salon.

She has a younger sister, Malani Brooks, who is a high school student. She aspires to do hair like their mother. She also likes graphic design.

A hellhound who is found by Kaleah at a local park. He, and his other two brethren Orpheus and Demetria, were captured by Mordrid Black.

He can manipulate fire and shadows in both his human and hound forms. He can cloak himself in darkness and can use it to give him a hearty constitution.

Though he is ruthless and deadly, Atrius is loyal to a fault. He is very protective of those close to him, often putting his life on the line.

He can be overprotective and can be short tempered.

He is assigned to Eryx Nobokov, a reaper from the underworld.

He considers Orpheus and Demetria as his siblings; they were “born” around the same time and were raised together.

Though he’s lived as a hellhound for a while, he is naive to much of the modern world.

He is very eager to please, especially to those he feels he owes a debt to.

Kaleah’s mysterious roommate. She comes across quiet and aloof, often disappearing for long periods of time and appears at odd hours of the day.

She loves to read and train in her free time.

She dislikes being around crowds and loud people.

Her best friend and partner in crime is Virgil Scott. They’ve known each other for a few years now.

She is protective of Kaleah and tries to keep her at a distance in order to protect her but must come clean about her intentions.

It is later revealed that Raven is a Gahiji-a line of hunters who can channel the powers of the gods of Ra. She can channel the powers of Bastet.

She can create force fields and summon weapons through her enchanted items like her necklace.

She has a tattoo of a cat’s paw above her belly button and an small ankh on her right wrist. She has a sun-disk on her left.

While Channeling, she has enhanced speed and reflexes.

She can create protection runes and repel evil spirits using a magical staff that functions as a sistrum.

She is proficient in hand to hand combat. She likes using knives and swords in fights.

She can also communicate with cats as they are her patron animal.

Raven’s best friend and owner of Quaint Keepsakes.

He is sarcastic and quick-witted. Loves to show off his skills.

He is very well dressed and loves to collect watches.

He is a Lumen-A light mage that can generate and manipulate light magic.

His family are descended from a long line of mages and obsessed with “pure” blood.

The Scotts use sigils to channel their innate magic but Virgil is the exception. Only needing when performing complicated rituals or enchantments.

Virgil’s mother is a Sybil; a mixed blood and was ostracized in the community.

Virgil and his family lived normal lives until his abilities as emerged as a child.

Virgil learned all he could and attended a school for young mages when he was in middle school to high school, though he faced many challenges he succeed.

Relocated to the States and runs a shop along with a the owner to house magical objects and a concealed veil.

He becomes a mentor to Kaleah help her hone her growing abilities.

Occupation: Grim Reaper

A reaper of the damned. His main job is to gather souls of the damned and bring them to the underworld. He often sends hellhounds to chase the stubborn ones or ones that have escaped.

Eryx can take any form in the human world.

Though he doesn’t care much for humans, though he is intrigued by Kaleah and her role in his mission.

He is straightforward and honest; often comes across as blunt and unfeeling.

He also likes music, especially classical and operatic music.

He has a soft spot for children.

He has enhanced senses and physical strength and speed.

He can contain souls using telekinesis and other containment magic though most is channeled through his scythe.

He wields a scythe that can change forms and it can be used to control hellhounds and open portals.

I love Christmas music, too. I love traditional Christmas music; the religious choral songs particularly. But here are some of my favorite secular Christmas songs-

Trans-Siberian Orchestra has an AMAZING Christmas album called Christmas Eve and other stories. The Carpenters also has a really good Christmas album called Christmas Portrait- I have it on CD. I also have the Elf and Home Alone soundtracks on CD- I wear them out every Christmas. 😂

Now I'm in the spirit, lol. I look forward to Christmas so much every year. It won't be long.....😭

Vineyard Remains

I'm so lost on how I feel about this book. It's… difficult.

When Angel and her brother TJ are brought to live with her grandparents on Martha's Vineyard, their world has been turned upside down. Their father has just been murdered by their mother. Their grandmother changes their names to Angela and Thomas, to give them a new life.

Angela had always been fond of the island; they would spend summers there with their grandparents, and she was close to her cousin Kiki, who was only a year younger. Upon moving, Kiki's father (their father's brother) warns Kiki away from Angela, and it's almost easier to Kiki to hate Angela, who she'd been jealous of. Angela had gotten away from the island, and now that she's back, she gets to live with her rich grandparents, while Kiki is stuck alone with her abusive alcoholic father.

Both girls fall in love with Bo Brooks, the island's baseball star who's sure to make it to the major leagues. Angela dated him first, but when she moves away for college, Kiki move in. Bo loves Kiki and can't imagine leaving her, but he can't resist carrying on an affair with Angela when she's in town. Both girls end up pregnant with his child, and as luck would have it, both go into labor the same stormy night. Kiki well before her due date, due to her father's abuse when he found out she was pregnant. Angela's grandmother Kathleen is the only doctor available, and she opens the closed hospital, hoping help with arrive in time. None does, and when Kiki arrives later, Kathleen is forced to deliver both babies, leaving the girls alone and struggling more than she'd wished to. One girl goes home with a baby, one girl is sent to the psych ward convinced she'd heard her stillborn baby's cry.

The years that follow, Kiki struggles as a single mother. She's finally free of her father, but life is not good. She's still stuck on the island, left with Bo's indifference and his parents' cold disapproval. She spends years in a shed with the daughter she can't seem to feel close to. Angela struggles with her memories of the night, with the fear she'd done something awful to her child that she can't remember. Just like she can't remember clearly the night her father died.

I'll be honest - I struggled through the middle of this book. While the trauma they were raised with, and their continued experiences trying to survive, were dealt with expertly… I just didn't like them. Was I sympathetic to the trauma they faced? Did I wish for them to find better lives, absolutely! Instead, they were caught up on both wanting to keep Bo - who was in no way an ideal boyfriend. How either of them were attracted to him was beyond me, and the years they wasted in that pursuit, the pain caused by it… it made all three of them toxic.

One of the books I was close to not finishing, it might come as a surprise to why it's getting a 4 star rating from me. I think, in the end, it came down to the fact that while their problems didn't all magically go away, things did take a turn for the better. We did get answers - not ones that made everything ok. I severely disliked actions that were taken, to the point that I gave up on characters and thought them beyond redemption. Why should I care, when they instigated so much of their own suffering? However… I did find it very realistic. What both girls experienced, the trauma that shaped them, and their struggles to survive. To just be ok. Real life doesn't always have happy endings. You can't just wish things better. Instead, you have to work at it daily - and you're going to need help along the way.

If you enjoy realistic stories, stories of people who live with trauma and struggle to find their way. Of people who don't make the right choices, who some how seem to make that wrong step at every turn, this one is for you. If you like stories of the women who survive, who find themselves wanting to give every opportunity to those who come after them, this one is for you.
