What is Hoodoo?
Hoodoo is the amalgamation of various Afro Indigneous Spiritual Philosophies on the shores of North America. Hoodoo was formulated on slave plantations by indigenous and African blacks to combat the oppression of racists slave making colonialists. From this origin, hoodoo grew into what has ultimately become the pulse of Black Culture. The dancing, the songs, the art, our tonal way of communicating, the foods we eat and Hip Hop music are all expressions of our ancestral memories which is the highest expression of our Hoodoo…#darealhoodoo

Today, more and more people are seeking root work/spiritual services of Love Work aka love spells. In this blog we will discuss why love work is done and the do's and don'ts when consulting for love work.
Where's The Love?
The very first thing needed to perform love work is...LOVE! Many people think that by using Hoodoo, or other magic, they can make someone love them. This is simply not true. Love is a natural emotion therefore, could never be forced. However, there are many ways for a root worker to attract love into one's life or what you've probably heard, sweeten a particular person to you.
Love Vs. Lust
Far too often in society we find that people aren't really seeking love. Rather, control and/or power over another. They may not even want to be in a relationship with the individual but because of the hold he/she has on them, it is simply hard to let go. In this case, love work is NOT recommended. Wanting to keep someone "to yourself" is more of a controlling or dominating type of work which should never be taken lightly. Forcing someone against their will could, and many times DOES backfire on individuals who have "negative intentions". This speaks more to lust than love. In this instance one should seek Healing work or a Cut & Clear work. These types of works will allow one to heal from the relationship and cut any ties that make it difficult for both parties may move on peacefully. Truth be told, that is TRUE love. Wanting the best for someone whether it's with you or not.
Couples & Families
Couples that already have time invested in a relationship or that may be married/engaged and/or have children are typically ideal candidates for love work. Real love is usually present and they are more likely to put in the work needed to maintain and better the relationship. In addition, children are better off when both parents are present and functioning as a family unit. Needless to say,  in relationships that are hostile or unhealthy, one should seek protection from any form of mental, emotional or spiritual abuse. A true rootworker is a healer therefore will not perform love spells for situations that could be dangerous or negative for those involved. Especially innocent children. Regardless of how much one person may claim to love another, safety and protection are of the utmost importance. If you or your partner are experiencing any type of abuse I recommend consulting an authentic worker to see if there maybe some other underlying spiritual issues.
Self Love
The topic of Self Love is an entire topic in and of itself. I find that many people lack self-love thus lack what is needed to love another. Prior to doing or seeking any sort of Love work one should be open and honest with self, about how they feel about self and about how they view love. Have you ever felt love? What does love mean to you? These are questions one should ask themselves when considering any love endeavor. But especially love work. What they say is true, you can't love someone else if you don't love yourself.
Break-Up Spells
People usually want to "break up" a couple or "sour" a relationship because they have been hurt. The thought of their former mate with a new partner is hard to cope with. Anger, sadness and even depression can be triggered by such events. However, this doesn't necessarily call for a break up spell. A thorough reading or divination would be needed to determine how to go about the situation. And depending on the outcome of the reading, a break up spell may be recommended. Most of the time, one just needs to move on and let Karma take it's course.
Come Back Spells
This is probably one of the most trending topics in the world of Hoodoo love work. EVERYONE wants to bring back their lover. Despite how long the couple has been split up, or what has occurred in their lives since then, people want to bring back that one. Can this be done. Absolutely. But the question is SHOULD it be done. If spirit reveals a good healthy successful relationship, yes, go for it. But this is not always the case. The time between a couple is very important. One may have had a new lover in that time or several. Or one may have completely shut out the other party from their memory. This goes back to free will. You can't force that which just isn't there nor meant to be.
In conclusion, Hoodoo and African Spirituality are real and should be taken seriously. Only in matters of true love should one seek or perform spiritual love spells. Love spells require a thorough divination and assessment of the situation prior to any work being performed. Use common sense, even when your heart tells you otherwise.
