Fantastic reference by the way. Although, I will say, this kinda implies Brawly like. Sits in the dark during Gym challenge until the challenger gets there which could take a decent bit of time depending on how good or bad the challenger’s memory is.
#pokemon masters#gym leader brawly#pokemon rse#pokemon oras#I just like to imagine he’s getting ready to like. beat up on a punching bag or something#he pulls back to throw a punch and the lights go out and he misses and falls on the ground#or maybe to not give the trainer a hint the power is just shut off?#he’s running on one of the like 3 treadmills in there and it stops underneath him and he falls

and that’s a wrap :^) espeon umbreon and my four HM users. Yes i beat the entirety of brawly to steven in one day. don’t worry about it
i had quick attack on umbreon the entire elite four until right before steven, in which i taught him dig. steven leads skarmory, so i lead espeon holding a pecha berry in case of toxic and attack with hidden power first to put it in range of being 2 shotted by psychic, and then, well, do that. then espeon handles his cradily and goes down to his claydol
i proceed to set up 6 curses with umbreon in front of claydol and sloooowly take out the levitate haver with a very long and time consuming series of super effective bites while he keeps healing with full restores and setting up light screens. it’s really annoying. the rest of the battle is pretty much just four digs though (armaldo takes two to go down) aside from armaldo landing a water pulse that gets the confusion and me having to carefully moonlight heal around it
overall satisfied with the champion fight and now i have access to what i started this file for: the RS battle tower woohoo!!
i have to get back to breeding and training pokemon soon…

Pokemon Emerald Retrospective, from the perspective of a first-time mainline Pokemon player
To preface this, before playing Emerald, I had very, very scarcely played mainline Pokemon. I played about 40 minutes of Soulsilver back in 2013, and played Legends Arceus and Violet to the credits in 2022, but not much else.
My passion lies with Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. I played Rescue Team DX, Explorers of Sky, Gates to Infinity, and Super all in a row back in late 2020, and I've been obsessed with them ever since. You can find my retrospectives on those if you look back on my blog.
So why play mainline?
To put it simply, some of my friends were doing it, and I wanted to do it.
A friend of mine boldly proclaimed that they would play every single mainline Pokemon game without reusing any Pokemon species. I decided to challenge myself to do a less strenuous challenge: play one mainline game for every mainline Pokemon region, but I can't use a guide. If I get stuck, I have to ask my friends for advice.
And so, I started Emerald. Why start with Emerald and not Firered? I don't quite remember. But it's where I started.
My first impressions were...rough.
It was slow, clunky, and a lot of stuff I was accustomed to through PMD, Legends Arceus, and Violet, simply weren't there.
Then I got the running shoes, and stuff began to pick up.
I picked Treecko, and named him Apoyime after my PMD Explorers protagonist. With his help, I was able to defeat Roxanne in one fell swoop, thanks to rock's grass weakness.
I caught two more Pokemon on the way there, a Zigzagoon I named Mavy, after the character from Quenched Torch, written by my best friend Sudmensch, and a Tailow I named Tilio.
With them, I made it through Granite Cave, and managed to do it without Flash! I also caught an Aron and named her Serald.
Brawly was more difficult than Roxanne, but thanks to Tilio, I managed to defeat him too.
Then there was Wattson.
Wattson was brutally difficult. I could often get to his Magneton, but every time I did, my team got curbstomped.
It was here that I started seeing the cracks in Emerald again.
You see, Emerald's EXP Share is extremely easy to miss, and doesn't apply EXP to the whole party. Instead, it just splits it between the Pokemon that participated...and one, single other Pokemon, that has to have the EXP Share as a held item.
I really, really hate grinding in games.
So, I visited the Game Corner, and tried to gamble my way to a Flamethrower TM for Mavy.
Even with using savestates for this specific occasion, though, it was a bust. The roulette tables were far too slow, and the slot machines were rigged.
So, I sighed, and decided to ride back and forth on my bike in front of the daycare in order to make number go up.
After hours of this, I managed to get my team up to a large enough level that I could finally, finally beat Wattson.
I decided to take a break for a few months after that ordeal, and resumed my playthrough in January.
And then, there were the HMs.
Before this, I didn't understand why everyone hates HMs so much. Now, I very much do understand why.
HMs force you to reserve either a party member slot for a Pokemon exclusively dedicated to HMs, or to use up move slots on your Pokemon on these moves that are often completely useless in battle.
I sighed, caught a Poochyena for Rock Smash, and named her Hiova.
I pressed onwards, fighting Team Magma atop Mount Chimney, then fighting Flannery in Lavaridge.
Flannery was also very difficult. I had to grind a bit more in order to defeat her, and at this point my patience was wearing thin. I was considering abandoning the marathon at this point.
Not helping this was the fact that the game was very unclear about where to go next. I thought I had to travel through the Route 111, but it was a dead end with nothing but the Mirage Tower.
I did catch a Trapinch here, though, and named her Raga after the Flygon from Tetra's fic Home is Where the Hoenn Is.
Eventually, a friend informed me that I should head back to Petalburg to face Norman, but that he'd be the biggest difficulty spike yet.
And so, I gave up. I turned on a cheat that gave me infinite rare candies, and leveled up my Pokemon that were lagging behind Apoyime.
And so, I took on Norman. It took two tries, but I managed to win!
I had already taught Strength and Shock Wave to Mavy, and decided to teach him Surf as well, making him the jack of all trades of my team.
Thinking it was the next objective, I explored the Abandoned Ship. It was fun, but I got little out of it.
I then saw Wattson wandering around in Mauville, and decided to talk to him, which granted me access to New Mauville.
Gotta say, it's a lot different in the game than it was in the Adventures manga, but it was still cool and fun, and the music gave me lots of inspiration.
Next up, I made my way to Fortree, and was stumped by the invisible blockade in front of the gym until a friend told me to go further, into Route 120.
After giggling a bit and making a bunch of PMD references from the invisible blockades being Kecleons, with the Devon Scope in hand, I returned to Fortree and took down Winona.
Next was Route 120 proper, which was a surreal experience. I had researched it a bit for my fic In Tandem, but playing through it was something else entirely. It was like childhood wonder.
Mount Pyre was really neat. Same music as New Mauville on the inside, which paired with the graves created a very eerie atmosphere.
But outside, there was a fast-paced track that got me feeling ready to take on both Team Aqua and Team Magma.
Then I made my way to Lilycove, where I decided to try a contest with Apoyime.
I failed miserably, getting last place.
And then Emerald stumped me with the most baffling detour yet.
The Aqua hideout was blocked, the ocean routes were blocked, it seemed like I had nowhere to go.
I wandered around for quite a while, until a friend told me that I had to go back to Mount Chimney of all places, and examine a random rock, now that I had the Magma emblem.
This was probably the point where I was angriest with Emerald. More than Wattson's difficulty spike. More than HMs. More than the lackluster EXP Share. More than having to grind.
But I took a deep breath, and pressed onwards.
The Magma Hideout was nothing special, but it got the plotline rolling! Seeing Groudon become active was so cool to see.
And from there, it was a straightforward trip back to Lilycove to infiltrate the Team Aqua hideout.
The Aqua hideout was some of the most fun I had in the game so far. The maze of warp tiles, combined with the great music, and even being able to find a master ball tucked away past a tricky set of warp panels, it all came together to form something very fun!
Then it was a simple surf to Mossdeep, and I battled the Magma grunts there.
After the battle alongside Steven, though, tragedy struck: Hiova turned into a Bad Egg, and I saved before I noticed.
I have no idea why this happened, but Hiova was gone.
After taking a moment of silence to both calm down and to grieve, I looked up what to do in the case of a bad egg.
I deposited the bad egg into the PC, turned off the infinite rare candy code, and went to Route 120 to fetch a new HM buddy, a Marill.
After that, I went back to Mossdeep, and defeated Tate and Liza.
Next up, I began searching for the Deepsea Cave. It was a difficult search, and I managed to find Sootopolis City first, but eventually, I made it inside, and faced off against the evil teams of Hoenn one last time.
With Groudon and Kyogre both awake and both fighting, and after consulting Wallace, I made my way to Sky Pillar.
And...Rayquaza flew out without me fighting it at all. I was honestly kinda disappointed.
After making my way back to Sootopolis, Rayquaza stopped Kyogre and Groudon's warring in a really cool cutscene, and the main plot of the game was over.
But mainline Pokemon is weird. Unlike PMD, the game doesn't end when the plot ends. Instead, there's still the gym, Elite Four, and champion to go.
And so, I battled Juan, and won.
Next up was Ever Grande City, which, side note, really didn't live up to expectations. I was expecting a city as grand as the name implied, but all it was was a Pokemon Center, Victory Road, and the Pokemon League.
Speaking of Victory Road, it was a nightmare to navigate, especially with no Flash and no guide. It took me quite a while to get through it, but eventually, I made it to the Pokemon League.
It felt so tense going inside. I was about to face a gauntlet of the five toughest trainers in the main game, with no Pokemon Centers in between. This was it, my sea of time in Hoenn.
Sidney was relatively easy, but that relatively is doing a lot of work. He still nearly took down Raga and Serald, but I managed.
Phoebe was tough. Her Banette's Curse took down Raga, and she left most of the rest of my team with low health, but I won. Using a revive on Raga, and restoring everyone's HP, I pressed on.
Glacia was easier, about the same level as Sidney, but still nearly took down Serald, and dealt a hefty blow to Mavy as well. But I won.
I just had two trainers left, and this would be my toughest challenge yet.
Drake was brutal, as much as Wattson was. But I had come a long way since then. I just barely scraped by, with Mavy and Apoyime being the only members of my team not fainted when I took him down.
And then, after healing up my team, it was time for my final challenge.
Wallace was very difficult. Almost all his Pokemon were of higher level than most of mine, with his Milotic matching Apoyime's level. And with the move Recover? That Milotic was very, very difficult to defeat.
But I pulled through. I won. I made it into the Hall of Fame.
I consider that one of my greatest accomplishments I've ever done in a video game, up there with beating Champion's Road from Super Mario 3D World solo.
It was tricky. It was brutal. But I did it.
Maybe I'm just bad at mainline Pokemon, but I'm proud.
Emerald, while not my favorite, was mostly a great experience to play through for the first time.
However, it had its flaws. HMs, lack of directions, and grinding made some parts of it a slog.
Overall, though, I enjoyed it, and it was a fantastic start to my mainline Pokemon marathon.
Hoenn is now one of my favorite Pokemon regions.

do you think the gym leaders+steven all text norman to let him know how his kid is doing
because norman is the only one with a kid among the gym leaders. wattson's got a niece but she lives outside of hoenn and drake from the elite four has grandkids but like he's not a gym leader
and it's just a way to bond with norman since he clearly loves his family and the only time he gets soft is thinking of them
like roxanne gets beaten by a lvl15 mudkip and nothing else, and when she asks why, the kid is like, "actually, i want to be a water type only trainer so that i can also be a gym leader"
she lets wallace know in the group chat that he has competition
steven casually drops the fact that his kid beat up a few team magma grunts and his dad is apparently very fond of norman's kid now to one of the others and it spreads like wildfire
brawly says that his kid's been camping out for like the past three days, trying to fish for a tentacool, and then they show up to battle with like 20 potions and their tentacool as their ace
wallace pipes in briefly to tell norman that he and his wife should turn on a specific channel and watch it together.
afterwards, norman jokes that his kid really is gunning for wallace's spot and thanks him for letting him see their kid branching out. wallace starts commenting more on them because lisia tells him a lot and he's kind of happy his niece has a good friend she can hang out with
wattson happily tells him about he caught them giving pointers to wally and how they gave their marshtomp bulldoze specifically for this match and won by the skin of their teeth
and also how they nearly got into a fight with the guy who gives advice because he was like "you can't fight with water types in an electric gym!"
flannery is oddly quiet when they come to town and that is because they end up befriending each other because they WANT to be a gym leader but they know they have to live up to their dad while flannery's already trying to live up to the sort of reputation one should have
all she says is "it's a secret"
norman shares a picture of him, his wife, and their kid at a restaurant he found specifically because they like that sort of food. in it, tentacool has evolved and they now corphish and surskit and a togepi
the togepi belongs to his wife now but he mentions that it makes for a great excuse for his kid to come home more often
steven says something about how they're very passionate and when prompted to speak more about the topic, he says they nearly fought with kecleon because it was preventing them from going into the gym
winona is grateful that they asked the kecleon to go away. she's the one who has the least amount of conversation with them but she does note them trying to convince gyarados to fly, then begrudgingly resigning themselves to being a land and water dweller
(steven has to laugh at that when wallace tells him.
he never says why but when he comes back from his travels, he has a swanna for them)
the twins hear about the kid being in town but the first time they meet is at the department store while they're arguing with a kid about the last slakoth plush. they pull the "my dad is a gym leader" card and when that fails, they end up resorting to a pokemon battle
everyone floods the chat with questions after the team magma/team aqua incident. norman shuts down the gym for a bit to be there for his kid and also do gym leader stuff and the only time the kid shows up on tv is a few days later when they're trying to get to the gym and a reporter stops them
they very confidently say they can be champion, but only if they can make it past through the reporter because they need their eighth badge
norman is SO proud
for wallace, he mentions how the first thing they say after beating him is asking him where he got his milotic from. they're actually extremely mad that they couldn't find any feebas and they didn't actually want to battle him without one but they also just want to head onto victory road
this actually jogs a memory of norman's, where he remembers that he took the family to petalburg before he moved to show them littleroot and just spend time with them while they're still in johto
and on one of the screens is wallace and milotic, and after that, the three of them decide to take some time to watch one of his contests on tv, which spurs a family tradition and the declaration that they will also have a milotic
he promised to get a feebas for them, but they turned him down so he kinda regrets not pushing it a bit more
so he like talks to his kid and they basically confirm his suspicions
milotic = happy memories so my own milotic = more happy memories and since i want to be a gym leader like my old man = water types only
it's all very wholesome
norman can't stay away from petalburg much longer and his kid doesn't want him to watch the matches because they're afraid of an ungraceful showing, but they do promise to send a photo with steven after the match and verbal confirmation from the latter that they won
also norman's kid just looks up to their dad so much, like the coolest person ever, and once they become champion, they go to him for advice on pokemon—it's a running joke in the family that it should be the other way around since they're the youngest champion in hoenn
as for the feebas, someone from the weather institute finds out that they want one so they call norman to tell his kid this secret for a guaranteed feebas
the next beauty master rank has people making the spiderman meme because wallace also enters with a milotic. he wins the battle, but they win the day because their parents come to watch them and they spend the entire day together
#pokemon#pokemon oras#trainer may#trainer brendan#gym leader norman#gym leader wallace#hoenn gym leaders#champion steven#i just want good dad!norman stuff#like how pokemas or the anime portrays him#instead of like pokespe#i just want secretly doting dad norman who's so damn proud of his kid for becoming the champion#he'll never brag about it to anyone but his wife who is equal parts bemused and tired#but you can bet he has like newspaper clippings and photos of them in his office#he's usually good about not launching into technical discussions but sometimes he does#and since his kid is dating the professor's kid they can actually keep up with it

Character Headcanons #6
anyone want 2000 words of originshipping headcanons??? you're getting them anyways.
edit: this wasn't showing up in the tags for a while so i had to take out the links. they'll be in a reblog
getting together
they met briefly when steven was 15 and wallace was 18. wallace was Going Through It tm and taking it out on some rando. steven stepped in, beat wallaces fully evolved pokemon with his two first stages, completely humiliating him in front of a crowd
this spurred a whole mental breakdown character arc for wallace but steven forgot about it like 2 seconds later lmao
very "you took everything from me" "i have no idea who you are"
unfortunately for steven he was forced to remember bc wallace had already been gym leader for several months by the time he got around to the sootoplis city badge
steven only managed to eke out a win through mega evolution because wallace was maybe going a bit too hard for a gym battle, even an 8th badge one
still, wallace apologized for that and their other meeting and they became friends
loose friends. they only really started to talk when steven became champ.
steven was baffled. he'd never had a human friend his age before but he really enjoyed being around wallace. wallace absolutely did not understand rocks but he never made fun of steven for spending hours infodumping
around the same time steven became champ, several others his age became part of the league and suddenly steven had multiple human friends his age???
he really only ever met with winona when with wallace, but he got along famously with sidney and phoebe despite their differences
quickly he realized how he felt for wallace was different than for sidney or phoebe but brushed it aside as the difference between a friend and a best friend
around then wallace started dating winona. wallace did nothing but talk about her those first few months and steven eventually realized he was angry at those convos bc he was jealous. it took another few months for it to click that he was jealous because he liked wallace romantically
decided then and there he would never ever make a move because wallace was happy with winona and planning a future with her
even once they broke up, steven didnt want to try anything because wallace was incredibly upset over being dumped and didnt want to ruin the friendship. plus, the thought of just being a rebound made him sick
wallaces romantic feelings only developed after the breakup. steven was his steady rock (pun reluctantly intended) and they became closer than ever after it.
he only realized steven liked him from sidney, brawly, and phoebe who made a joke about them dating. wallace was like haha yea that could be interpreted as crush-like but stevens always been like that
and they stared at him until he realized what that meant and went oh shit
wallace had always found steven hot but it was in a water is wet sorta way. like yea. wallace had eyes. but he thought it over and came to the conclusion that he wouldnt mind dating steven. itd been enough time after winona that being in a relationship seemed nice.
wallace tried flirting with steven for over a year (and not subtly at all) before deciding fuck it and being direct by kissing him.
steven had brushed off all attempts bc there was noooo way wallace would ever like himmm. the kiss made him rethink that though.
through the flirting phase wallaces feelings of sure why not grew into much more genuine romantic feelings so the kiss came from genuine frustration over steven casually brushing off his feelings
it was a mess figuring everything out but they decided to try dating
everyones response was finally lmao
other
wallace loves using classy petnames (darling, sweetheart, beloved, my love, etc). he will also make up some truly stupid and long petnames when hes in a teasing mood. steven...isnt quite to the point of saying "fellow associate" but he isnt too fond of pet names.
mostly, his romantic words tend to be comparing wallace to gems and rocks. if it were anyone but steven wallace would be very >.> about it, but it is steven so he finds it romantic. somehow. he's not quite sure how either, but its steven.
they're each other's favorite battling partner. at times, their battles seem more like dances because they and their pokemon all know each other so well
they're always trying to find new tactics to surprise the other. at this point it's getting difficult but theres nothing better than the surprise on the others face when one whips out a new move or strategy designed specifically to counter the other. it's a sign of love and how theyre always on each others mind.
eventually, when they move in together its to sootopolis. the city is incredibly important to wallace, and while steven likes mossdeep he doesnt mind moving
he still keeps his house there but its mainly just storage for his rock collection
wallace is aghast at having a house that never has any occupants besides rocks and dirt but steven doesnt see a problem with it
he's not sure how wallace will react to learning about all the penthouse suites and villas in other regions his family own that are occupied only once every few years.
communication is their main struggle as a couple. it wasnt so bad as friends, but wallaces habit of thinking he knows best and stevens habit of ignoring any negative emotion tend to go poorly together.
generally a low pda couple. they can get very handsy in private, but steven is uncomfortable with most pda. wallace isnt a shithead (and also likes keeping his private life private), so he keeps things to simple gestures and petnames.
steven was super nervous about telling other people when they started dating. he knew most of wallaces family but only as wallaces friend and was terrified things would change or they'd be suspicious of him potentially breaking wallaces heart like winona had
nothing major changed. lisia started calling him uncle steven, and juan and beverly gave him a light shovel talk, but that was it.
tbh the worst announcement was to his dad. joseph congratulated them, then immediately asked when they were going to get married and give him grandkids.
steven just walked out of the room.
their main joking argument is acceptable date locations.
steven thinks caves are the perfect date spot. wallace does not and would prefer literally anywhere else.
(he still goes on the cave dates)
steven is the one to propose.
they started thinking about it separately at around the same time, but wallace knew that steven was going to be particular about anything involving stones and metal and left getting a ring (and therefore proposing) to him.
steven was indeed very particular. he didnt hand craft the rings himself, but he did mine the material and give it to his familys go to jeweler alongside a very specific design
their wedding is surprisingly low key. the ceremony is rather small and done in the traditional sootopolitan way
the reception is larger but still not too large or exuberant. a compromise between them.
steven wouldve just gone to a courthouse and done it that way but he knew a party meant a lot to wallace. wallace meanwhile knows steven isnt a fan of huge crowds and parties so he did his best to tone it down and make it more personal.
wallace did basically all the planning. it was his dream wedding. steven said yes dear to any request and assumed it would be flawless (it was)
more of a night in kind of couple. steven isnt a partier and wallace tries not to be anymore so most of their dates tend to be very low key.
steven is a serial blanket thief. wallace usually doesnt mind until its winter
both of their teams get along very well. cradily and armaldo in particular get along well with wallaces water types
steven, stemming from years of pining, is more likely to get jealous if he sees someone flirting with wallace but doesn't dwell on it for long.
wallace meanwhile knows steven doesnt like flirting and that sort of attention so theres little jealousy on his side.
it takes a long while for them to have sex.
stevens ace so its just....not something he feels or gets. plus there were other emotions related to being trans and having sex, plus plus he'd just never done it before and was nervous from that. he knew wallace wanted it, but it took a long while for him to even be comfortable being naked in wallaces presence
wallace isnt ace, and has a decent sex drive, so he was a bit frustrated and took a lot of showers lol. he didnt push steven and more than understood his hesitancy, but oh boy did he want it.
they eventually do the do. it's not something they do a lot (steven is rarely in the right kind of mood for it) but they do it often enough to satisfy wallaces cravings.
they rarely argue. wallace tends to instigate more of the smaller squabbles since he's naturally more confrontational, but they tend to be mundane things solved in minutes
most of their serious arguments revolve around the future. the most commonly reoccurring one is about kids. wallace is very close to his family and 100% wants kids, biological or adopted. steven 100% does not. it takes a long time for them to come to any agreement.
a playlist : )
and also this post I suppose
fankids
speaking of kids lol
these are going off my fankids from here, emmy, mica, and lapis
im still kinda ehh on where they fit in my timeline, or if I'll even add them at all but have the headcanons nonetheless!
all 3 were accidents lol
steven is the dad who caves at the barest hint of puppy dog eyes. if wallace isnt there he *will* be persuaded to have dessert for dinner every night.
wallace, having helped raise lisia, is immune.
conversely, steven is the dad who is stricter during punishments. wallace can be persuaded to knock off a day from a grounding but not steven.
both absolutely spoil their kids rotten. all the toys and electronics and clothing they could ever want. possibly a bit too indulgent, tbh
steven is dad/daddy, wallace is baba
the kids have wallace's last name. steven has a strained relationship with basically the entirety of his family so it was a no brainer to put wallace's surname on the birth certificates.
in raising them, steven is something of a stay at home dad. he works with researching mega stones and mega evolution and a lot of it can be done from home. wallace is champion alongside his guardian duties so hes out more often.
wallace very much makes sure to spend a lot of time with his kids though. his dad being gone a lot for work was something he resented as a kid so he tries not to spend all his time working.
steven took emmy going to school the hardest. wallace had practice with lisia, but steven had barely spent more than a few hours away from emmy until school
names were the absolute biggest argument between them. steven wanted a rock name. wallace refused to name a kid malachite.
emmys name (esmeralda) was a compromise from juan. emerald, a gem, but in paldean as an actual name. it satisfied both so they went with it.
steven gave her the nickname of emmy. he based it off of emerald. wallace just sighed and went with it because it was cute.
mica and lapis were all steven. they originally had other names picked for the twins but wallace got stuck doing champion duties while steven was in the hospital. mildly delirious, highly emotional, and incredibly angry, steven went with completely new names just to spite wallace.
wallace cant even be mad. and as far as rock names go, they arent too bad. at least it wasnt malachite.
cradily and armaldo are the most overprotective of steven and wallaces pokemon. when it comes to children, they see their trainer's kids as their own and it hits something ancient in them making them a little more aggressive than usual
milotic is second. they are her little creatures. she will dragon tail anyone who looks at them wrong.

Best Pokémon Gym Leader Tournament- Preliminary Round Stats Breakdown!
Since this competition is far bigger in scope than the last one, I definitely had to split up the stats into two halves- the preliminary rounds and the tournament proper! I've finally had the time to analyse the data and found some interesting stuff.
Starting off, across 16 matches, a total of 5917 votes were cast! This works out to an average of 369.9 votes per match. On average, each region recieved 739.6 votes- though the real breakdown is quite different.
Paldea received a sizable 965 votes across the two matches, with the lowest amount of votes going to both Hoenn and Sinnoh receiving the exact same 603 votes. The regions fall in this order:
Paldea- 965 votes (16.3%)
Unova- 850 votes (14.4%)
Kanto- 781 votes (13.2%)
Galar- 766 votes (12.9%)
Johto- 738 votes (12.5%)
Kalos- 611 votes (10.3%)
Hoenn & Sinnoh- 603 votes each (10.2%)
The graph looks like this:
In terms of individual matches, the most voted on was Paldea 1 with 568 votes- featuring Larry, Grush, Katy, and Iono. The least voted on match was Hoenn 2 with 285 votes- featuring Flannery, Tate & Liza, Juan, and Norman.
If we start to look at the contestants- as seen in round, Larry got the most votes individually at 234! This was 26 times more than the lowest ranked competitor- poor Brycen only getting 9 votes. Since we already know the top few from the seeding in round 1, let's take a look at the bottom 5 in terms of vote totals:
Brycen: 9 votes
Lt. Surge: 18 votes
Pryce: 19 votes
Brawly: 20 votes
Gordie: 21 votes
When it comes to vote percentages- who won and lost with the biggest and smallest proportion of votes? Well the biggest victory goes to Flannery! The only person to break 50%, she won with 56.5%. On the other end, it's Brycen again with only 2.2%.
Before we move on to the preliminary winners- let's just see who was closest to making it through but didn't? The most votes for someone knocked out in the prelims went to Whitney, who was beaten out by Falkner, 126 to her 122 votes. The closest margin however, was between Candice and Roark- she beat him by just 1%- or 3 votes- 29.7% to 28.7%.
Finally, let's look at the preliminary winners. An interesting tidbit is the amount of women making it through! The winners have a gender ratio of 14:19, male to female contestants. (Remember, Tate and Liza made it through so there's one more person than there is competitor slots!)
In terms of pure numbers though, of course Larry got the most votes, with Tate and Liza getting the least at only 62. Because of the way the contest was structured that is significantly less than several contestants who just had the misfortune of going up against more popular opponents! For percentages- Kabu had the slimmest win at only 18% in his matchup.
The last bits of data we'll look at is how the different regions fared when looking at their winners. Paldea's winners had the most votes between them with 696, and Sinnoh had the least at 412. This also translates to the average seed per region:
Paldea- 6.5 (696 votes)
Johto- 13.75 (513 votes)
Kanto- 15 (497 votes)
Unova- 16 (482 votes)
Kalos- 18.5 (456 votes)
Galar- 19.25 (450 votes)
Hoenn- 20.5 (420 votes)
Sinnoh- 22.5 (412 votes)
Lastly, taking a look at which winners were most popular in their region- we can see that the Kalos leaders took the biggest vote share. They won a total of 74.6% of their region's votes, more than Paldea's close second place of 72.1%. The inverse saw Unova's leaders have the smallest vote share in their region, possibly due to how many contestants were splitting the vote up- they got 56.7% of the votes.
And that's all for now! If there was anything I didn't cover that you wanted to find out, let me know and I can update this post or we'll get to it in the next one for the main tournament! Thank you for being as interested in this as I am!

“her hair colour is ever changing and she has blue eyes.”
i’m sorry all i can think of is her dying it blue or something for a dare
and getting called a smurf
and then proceeding to beat whoever’s ass called her that
she loses a dare that could’ve potentially had luke cleaning her dishes for a month but instead she has to let dawson box dye her hair dark blue for the playoffs
and she somehow pulls it off but during her first game with the new hair the sweat is making the colour bleed down her face and she literally looks like a smurf
an old teammate has some comments that boarder her limits and so, post line brawl (unrelated but she was extra brawly due to do not speak to her like that), she smiles at him from her headlock and she’s like
“not bad for three apples tall, huh?”

The Best Room They Have Is The Last Room You Want
(Brad Vickers x FEM!reader)
Warnings; sexual jokes, Brad being a little perv, no real smut, barely edited.
Summary; Brad and readers normal nights together as a married couple.
Title from The Best Room by Modest Mouse
Brad sighed, late shifts in the office were always boring and repetitive. He just wanted to go home, crack open some cheap beer, and eat dinner with you. God, just the thought of you sent him into a spiraling frenzy of emotions. Lust, happiness, and longing mostly.
The brunet missed you, even if he saw you everyday and spent every night with you; he'd still miss you dearly. With a small huff, he continued his mind-numbing paperwork and waited for the time to pass.
~~~
Brad parked his small 1997 Honda Civic, white, a little dinged up. But Brad loved it, it was his pride and joy. Pocketing his keys, Brad opened the driver's side door and climbed out, closing it behind him. He walked up the small concrete walkway, humming to himself when he noted that he needed to cut the grass again.
Brad groaned in annoyance when he realized that he could not have put his keys away, and that he had to now use his house key. Fishing the bundle of keys out, he slotted the house key in, a bright pink finish on it. You had insisted on it, as he always lost his keys, and now his keys were all embarrassingly colorful.
Brad snorted and shook his head when he heard the dog come running towards the door, the dog's tail beating against the floor while he waited for his favorite person to walk in. Brad smiled when he heard you talking to the dog, asking if Brad was finally home.
After unlocking the door and opening it, the canine excitedly jumped when Brad walked in. Brad chuckled and rubbed the chocolate lab's head, before walking into the living room where he assumed that you were.
Fuck.
You sat on the couch, only in a baggy shirt and a pair of his boxers. You had insisted on it, if he got to wear your socks; you got to wear his and his boxers.
Brad really needs to thank Joseph for daring him to buy a Hooters T-shirt from said breastaurant. Now Brad gets to see you wear the loose T-shirt around the house, sometimes just it and a pair of panties.
Shaking the dirty thoughts from his head, Brad walked over and sat next to you, leaning over and pecking your lips. Brad toed his boots off, and peeled his socks off, wiggling his now free toes. “How was work?”
You glanced up from your magazine, and smiled at him, “Fine. Still cute as always. The kids got really excited when I told them about the possum in the backyard last night.”
You worked as an elementary school teacher, you taught second grade language arts. You always came back with cute little stories about your class.
“Yeah? That's cute.” Brad replied, looking over at the TV. “WrestleMania? You like wrestling?”
“Wanted some background noise while I cleaned up around the house.” You shrugged, looking back down at the PlayGirl magazine.
Brad shook his head fondly at you, a bit jealous that you were looking at porn right in front of him. But, then again, you seemed bored looking at it.
“You know, I'm kinda jealous that you get to work around a bunch of little seven year-olds and teach them to spell n’ stuff.” Brad sighed, folding his arms across his chest and leaning back in the old couch. “I have to work with brawly guys.”
“Hey, what about Jill?” You asked, tossing the magazine on the coffee table.
“She counts too. She beat everyone at arm wrestling and thumb wrestling.” Brad mumbled, his bottom lip jutting out in a tiny pout.
“Aw, is Brad jealous that I get to work with a bunch of cute kids?” You teased, leaning towards him with a cheeky smirk. “‘Cause it's not all sunshine and rainbows. Just yesterday I had to help one of the kids clean puke off of his shirt.”
Brad grimaced, a look of disgust across his face, “Ew…”
“Yeah.” You hummed, pecking his cheek and leaning back against the arm of the couch.
“My point still stands, I'd rather deal with puke than some grown man with his boner.” Brad muttered, not realizing how lewd it sounded.
“Brad, are…are you giving sexual favors?” You asked with a shocked look, unable to hide the childish grin.
Brad's head snapped up, and looked at you with a bright blush across his cheeks. “W-what?! No!”
“You sure?” You giggled, staring at him with amusement while you rested your feet in his lap. Brad gave you a side-eye, and a little sneer.
Before Brad could open his mouth and give a rebuttal, the doorbell rung. You stood up and walked walked over to the front door, Brad shamefully watching your hips sway with each stride. With a small groan, Brad grabbed a throw pillow and laid it on his lap, covering his semi-hard bulge.
You came back with a take-out bag in hand, fondly rolling your eyes when you saw his lap-pillow. You set the bag next to the magazine on the coffee table, walking to the kitchen and opening the refrigerator.
“What do you want?” You called out to Brad, listening to him excavate through the bag of Chinese food.
“Beer.” Brad called back, letting out a small ‘yes!’ when he found crab rangoon.
You walked back with a beer bottle and Pepsi, setting them down on the little table. You plopped down next to Brad, reaching down and grabbing the orange chicken and the plastic fork, along with the fried rice.
After the two of you ate dinner, let the dog out, and shared a cigarette on the back porch, you guys were back in your bathroom.
Brad was taking a leak, while you brushed your teeth over the sink. With the toothbrush in your mouth, you looked over at Brad and down at the toilet.
“Is it awys tht crlor?” You asked, your words muffled with toothpaste.
Brad looked up from his dick, and at you with a small glare, “My urine is a normal color.”
You rolled your eyes playfully and leaned over the sink, spitting the glob of foam out of your mouth. You gargled some water and spat it out, wiping your mouth after and moving to the side when Brad walked over to wash his hands.
Brad brushed his teeth and watched you apply face cream and moisturizer on, his eyes were full of love and pure awe. Brad always wondered how he got such a gorgeous woman to date him, let alone marry him.
God he was lucky.
Brad smiled around the toothbrush when he watched you leave the bathroom, listening to the sheets rustle when you climbed in bed. After Brad finished up in the bathroom, he changed into sweats and a plain, white t-shirt.
Crawling into bed, Brad wrapped his arms around you and nuzzled his face in the crook of your neck, leaving a soft kiss against your skin. Basking in the way you curled back into him, Brad smiled brightly and closed his eyes.
“I love you.”
“Love you too.”
guess an ask and post are different. like your vibes, see a fighitng type, know how to beat Brawly? @punktoxin
im not in hoenn so i had to groovyle the guy rq but heres what im thinking: since hes a surfer hes gonna have good balance and no obvious undertrained weak points like theres no point in goin for the knees here so dont even bother tryina knock him off his game you just wanna go in brute force all at once n front load the fight. dont give him a chance to get warmed up or anythin just hit him as hard as you can right out the gate n when he gets down dont assume hes not gettin back up. i guess mb if ur more the agile type you could outmaneuver him but im a brute force kinda gal so i cant advise much on that kinda strategy
Prowling Spider
My Spidersona and Her Backstory.
My Name is Amaiyah Brooke, but my friends call me Mai. I was bitten by a radioactive spider and for the passed three years, I’ve been the one and only prowling spider. On earth 425. And these past three years, have been the worst years of my life. During my first year, my parents were murdered in front of me and I’ve been raised by my Uncle Aaron, aka the prowler. I do what I need to do to survive. Which is frowned upon. I fight anyone I have to. Doesn’t matter their alliance. For the first few years I was used as an assassin towards King Pins enemies. So yea, I’ve killed a few people. My second year, I got into a run in with this weird vampire guy, who ended up tossing me into a collider on accident. I hope it was an accident. He was brawly, and really tall. I think he was Hispanic? Anyways, I didn’t die, but I became some sort of a monster. I’m a vampire, with a suit that glows in the dark, really my veins glow in the dark.
Recently, King Pin betrayed me. He wanted my power for himself. So he went from my boss to my Arch Nemesis. During these times, I had only one person who stuck beside me. He was a Funky Kid that usually failed all his classes because. Efe the Government. We were not always friends, I actually just tutored the kid for a bit and be became my best friend. His name is…well was…. Hobart Brown. When Kingpin saw that he was one of the only people I trusted. And went after him, I could have beat him, but this weird white guy covered in spots attacked me, so I didn’t make it fast enough and, He killed him, right in front of me. He died in my arms. So, I killed kingpin.
I took Hobie to his family, and they hated me. Other than his sister who knew who I was. She gave me his guitar pick, which I wear around my neck now. I am not sure how I got here. I didn’t want this power anymore if it meant everyone around me that I cared about die. So, I tried to end it all. But, someone grabbed me before i could drown. The same Dude who threw me in the collider. He took me to this Spider society. And told me I couldn’t die anyways. Due to my mutations. His name is Miguel, Miguel O Hara, who is the worst person you’ll ever meet.
He thinks he’s some saving Grace. And I hate him. Recently I’ve been working along side him go help put the dimension back. Fighting has always been something that helped me get rid of my pain. I used to struggle with really bad anxiety. Until I got these powers. I’m glad that’s gone. I’ve been making a name for myself in the Spider society. I go solo on a bunch of things. And I always come out victorious.
Miguel thinks I need to work with other people. But that’s rich coming from him, The person who refuses to ask for help when he is out numbered. But, I agreed. But, I wasn’t prepared for who he teamed me up with. In fact I think he did it to throw me off guard. He teamed me up with the group of trouble makers as he called it, Gwen Stacey, Pavitir and…Hobie Brown. Which is the perfect copy of my deceased best friend, just add spider powers. When I found out their identities after a few missions, I talked to Miguel. Which is where this story starts.
“MIGUEL WHAT THE HELL?!”
“Calm down, niña. What is the problem.”
“You know what the problem is Miguel. You could have at least warned me.”
I argued as Miguel walked away from me, I continued to walk behind him. I noticed the four in the room as I kept walking and arguing with him. I enjoyed there company but I don’t think I can do that again.
“What’s with her?”
Gwen asked. Watching me as I walked and argued with Miguel. Pav looked at us shocked.
“Can she do that? She can just argue with Miguel and not get attacked it threatened to be killed.”
Pavitir asked.
“It’s a metaphor for monarchy.”
Hobie said. At that moment Miguel basically told her to get over it. So you rolled your eyes pulling her mask back on and walking to the group. We had another mission already.
“We have a mission.”
She said bluntly, she noticed Hobie push himself in a chair in front of her. She stopped looking down at him through your mask.
“What’s wrong, you seem upset.”
He said with a cocky smile. His accent coming out at every word. Pav then swung before you.
“Yea, do you not like us anymore. I thought you enjoyed having us around, what changed?”
Pav expressed. She sighed and pat pav on the shoulder.
“I do. I just. I dunno, it doesn’t matter we are stuck anyways.”
She said as she pushed passed Hobies legs, sending the chair rolling a back. Hobie got up and shoved his arms in his pockets as he walked. You opened the watch, and went to the world the next anomaly was. Noticing…it was earth 425. Your earth. You gave Miguel a glare, as you guys walked into the portal.
