have you ever decided to diy bottle cap pins for your battle jacket and painted one as a record because it’s circular and a simple design and you chose red and black because your jacket theme was red and black and then you post your jacket in various online punk communities not realizing that your pin unintentionally looks like the the t shirt of a homestuck character and now people are commenting homestuck references and you’re super confused so you ask your chronically online homosexual boyfriend who likes homestuck bc of course he does and he infodumps to you about homestuck but apparently there’s a surprising amount of overlap in the punk rock scene and the homestuck fandom so now people are following you and dm-ing you as if you’re some kind of punk homestuck icon and now you don’t know how to come clean that the resemblance was coincidental and you actually don’t know shit about homestuck…?

I decided to finally get around to making my own tarot cards! <|:^) I’ve never really felt like buying an actual set, because I just didn’t really feel drawn to any affordable tarot decks I’ve seen, so I made my own :)

I know they’re not the neatest work, and the offee staining ended up a little darker on some of them (or some got more faded). I also used cardboard of different thicknesses for them, since that’s all I had, but I got to make them in my style, so I still like them. 

I crocheted a tarot bag to hold the cards too. I used the star granny square pattern in green and brown. I also made some bottle cap pins of a few of my favourite bands, so I included them in this post, I’ll definitely make more once I get more bottle caps and safety pins.

the glare makes these a little hard to read, so the blue one said "pup regressor", and the black ones say "autistically inclined" (my friend called me this as a compliment in reference to me being both autistic and artistically inclined. so. autistically inclined.) and "i struggle with eye contact". im sad the sealant smeared the (shitty) paint on the eye contact one :( but its okkk also i dont rlly like the way the it/its pin looks but idrc rn i spent too much time on it

any ideas for what to put on bottle cap pins?

Yes!! I love making bottle cap pins! Here are some I made recently that I just have to attach a pin to!

I usually just start painting and then try and figure out something as I go, but heres a list of ideas:

Band Logos

Things related to your stances on issues you care about (hence land back and save the bees)

Gender/Sexuality related stuff (pronouns, colors, symbols, etc)

Symbols (safety pin, the raised fist, religious symbols if you do the religion thing, etc)

Paint a bottle cap and have friends write messages on them for you, put your favorites on your jacket

Paint vinyls or CDs on them (or other circle things)

You can also print out images and adhere them to the caps (I recommend mod podge). Here are some other ideas I snatched off the internet:

How I Make Bottle Cap Pins!

I don't think this is the "normal" method to making these, but it requires zero glue! This includes improper use of scissors that may result in you needing to come up with a cool story to tell your friends on why you're missing a finger.

Materials:

Bottle Cap (metal.)

Felt (pictured,) fabric scrap, or anything you can make work really.

Scissors.

Sewing needle (pictured,) pin, or safety pin.

Marker.

Step 1: Trace out bottle cap on felt (or just eyeball it)

Step 2: Trim until felt fits nicely in bottle cap, insert.

Step 3: Dangerously use scissors to bend bottle cap edges inwards towards the felt.

Step 4: bend the entire edge of the bottle cap inwards, paint, and insert needle (or other fastener) into the felt!
