small PSA: if you shop at craft shows or artist alleys, please bring more than apple pay or a virtual card - especially if you're not comfortable entering your card number manually. not all of us have fancy card readers, so please also bring your physical card or cash, even if it's only as backup 👍
#psa#conventions#artist alley#not art#i've done two craft shows and two conventions with just my swipe reader. and cash ofc. but i did have to miss a couple sales at the cons#because people only had apple pay. no cash no physical card. It Sucks For Both Of Us!#when i say there are small businesses in the artist alley i mean some of us are Small#i don't speak just for myself but for other artists who have this trouble as well. some folks are just starting out and some folks#just do this for a hobby and can't afford or can't justify the bigger terminals yet or at all#if i get into ACEN again next year i'll opt for a terminal but they're Pricey and not something to start out with y'know#if you want to be an artist's best friend though? pay in cash.#not to mention if there's technical or wifi trouble - cash just works 100% of the time. no reader or wifi will stop you from using cash.#semi related but i had someone try to pay with apple pay at my last show and i said they'd have to enter their number manually then#and they said they'd go find their partner and see if they had card/cash. and then while they were walking away from their booth#their friend asked why and they said it wasn't safe. on one hand i can't be mad because its VERY good to practice card safety!#on the other hand. you're entering it into the same app that would process a swipe payment. it's exactly as safe as if you'd swiped it#i promise as long as you're entering the number into a square app your card info is safe lmao#anyway yeah a lot of us aren't Big Businesses. please just be courteous and bring some traditional payment methods Just In Case

Kinda obsessed with your teacher!Charles/parent!Oscar fic! 😍
Do you have more head cannons for this universe? 😁😇 I’d love to hear them 🙊
hi!!!!!!!!! there were a bunch of different version and different directions for this fic before i ended up with the one i had so stuff might bleed through here and there BUT basically single dad oscar with the most extroverted kid ever is very hilarious to me. oscar has a boring office job that he keeps because it pays really well and he knows he needs the money to pay for amelia's education etc and he would do anything for her so he just keeps at it.
also!!!!!!! literaly irl cupid amelia both being VERY EXCITED her dad seems to have found love again but also a little bit upset that its with her TEACHER and idk. it sort of being rough at first but then settling into something that works for them?? i see a v quiet kind of love for charles and oscar in this. they're both older, they've both tried and failed the whole love thing before, so they're happy just... being.
also like. i'm not planning this fic out in my head now im NOT but like. a side plot where amelia is trying to choose a uni? a side plot where charles encourages oscar to finally start searching for a job he actually likes? especially now amelia is potentially moving out of the house for uni??

The only sour note in today's excitement at the doll show was finding out that my 'starter BJD' I bought was in fact bought from Amazon from a company known for recasting, aka art theft. Like, IDK if the seller realized it was such a bad thing... but the way she phrased it was that SHE made the dolls (???), so I sort of assumed that she was an artist who worked with a casting company, or owned a 3D printer, or something? (I mean for all I know she could be an artist who contracts with a recasting company!) Literally my first question was, 'how can you offer these so cheap?' and she came back with 'well, I make them so I set the price!' And I guess from that I should have assumed she's actually a drop-shipper? :/ So idk if she's a scammer or just unclear, but either way I was not told the company name when I bought the doll. It wasn't until I saw the box (after I paid when the seller was packing up the doll) that I realized how cheap it looked, and red flags started going up. When I got her home and saw the Amazon sticker on the bottom of the box, I was like, ohhhh no.
So that was a big shame!! I can clock a knockoff MLP from a mile off, but I've only ever purchased one artist resin head, and admired BJDs from afar due to price and space. So finding a vinyl doll, which I know should be cheaper than resin even if it's legit, didn't immediately send up any red flags. I should be excited to have my very first full doll (wow!), but I know instead it comes with this huge headache. Urgh!
Anyway, I know there were a lot of young people at the show, and at least one of the other three dolls sold; I wonder if they were BJD noobs too, and didn't realize that they weren't getting a legit doll, or how recasts are viewed within that community? How would one even tactfully warn off someone from buying a recast? And I also wonder if because it's not a BJD specific event, if there's just no oversight to ensure that recasts aren't sold? I only saw one other booth with BJDs, but I think they were in a different room - and what could they do, even?
I'm still going to try and enjoy her, but it might take a couple days to shake off this funk. It just sucks that I can't just post photos of her without some kind of disclaimer, you know? Like, hey I know recasting is bad, I just didn't immediately assume this lady was lying, my bad!! She's cute but please don't buy one! :P

buck and eddie would be the most insane PTA moms ever, actually. because eddie loves his son and being a bitch and buck loves bossing people around with a clipboard and being involved.
#eddie would absolutely have beef with one of the moms over something stupid like the bake sale banner colors or something#and would convince buck to join the planning/organizing commitee and buck would be all okay!!!! yay that sounds so fun!! :)!!#and buck would end up taking it Very Seriously and whenever eddie tries to tell him ideas for the bake sale buck would get all ah ah ah#as a member of the committee i cannot consider new ideas without consulting the other committee member#eddie always complains that hes just brain storming and needs to bounce ideas off of buck and buck would just be all rules are rules eddie#so eddie has to present his ideas to the pta like all the other parents and buck doesnt ever appear to treat his ideas any differently so#eddie always catches his eye after hes done and winks at him and buck just glares back at him with red ears and ofc buck (usually) ends up#voting in favor of eddie and buck scolds him after meetings because “its inappropriate to flirt to try and get my favor eddie”#“i already have your favor buck. and when you have a clipboard its really hard not to flirt.”#also you know buck would be all over the micromanaging#like “hi jill you wrote down on the spreadsheet that you were going to make four dozen brownies#NOT four dozen chocolate chip cookies. now we have more chocolate chip cookies than we'll be able to sell and not enough brownies.“#and eddie would love getting involved like “yeah jill WAY too many cookies. now the sale is ruined and the kids will never get their trip.”#“eddie why dont you go set up your booth? you shouldve already done that by now...”#“right....”#like eddie would love arguing with the moms about like which activity is more suitable for earth day or whatever#they would literally love it so much

Art Show Set Up
Practicing my booth setup for some in person art shows!
6/10’ Art Show setup I need to do some in person shows and move some artwork. Most show curators ask you to send photos of your booth and mine are all years old, so I set this up in my backyard to get some photos. I tried to feature a variety of sizes, and price ranges, I have matted prints, notecards, stickers, some tile coasters, a variety of works on canvas including one large piece. It’s…

Price your art high otherwise people won't see the value in it and it won't sell!
Price your art low otherwise people won't be able to afford it and it won't sell!
Well! Maybe! My art just doesn't sell! Ever think of that?
