Harvey telling the farmer it's their time for the annual check up before knowing them for a year is always funny to me. But the fact I keep drawing Asmodeus♡ with a big mouth and fangs made me read the dialogue more like "that's scary, please stop" rather than "okay onto the next part".

I strongly agree that there are world events that deserve much more news coverage and resources than the Titan because frankly it should’ve been immediately assumed they were dead when sonar couldn’t find them and communication was lost.

However, I don’t necessarily think it’s fair to compare the EU coast guard and the US and Canada's various first response teams that responded to the Titan. Because they’re separate entities.

Do I think people should care more about the refugee ship that capsized due to alleged incompetence of the coast guard? Yes. I do. And I hope more survivors can be found because that was a genuine tragedy.

Do I think that it should be getting the same kind of attention as the Titan? Not really. Because people are just memeing on the Titan, and the average tumblr user has around $0.20 to their name and maybe 400 followers so this isn’t a very good platform for getting meaningful help for those affected by that situation.

This isn’t even a “you can care about two things at once” situation, because again with the Titan you should be very amused by 4/5 of those deaths whereas there’s nothing funny about what happened to that fishing ship. These are very different niches in cultural awareness and your ire should be towards media companies over random people on social media.

Improved OTW Board Meetings When?

It's October and the new OTW Board has been seated, and after that dumpster fire of a Board meeting on July 2, I want to know what they're going to do to prevent a repeat and I want them to come out here and tell us, so I've shoved yet another letter into the OTW Contact Form, and I encourage you to do the same.

Here's what I wrote:

Hello, and welcome to the new Board members! Following the astoundingly mismanaged July 2 public Board meeting, what changes do you plan to make to the way future meetings are run to make them more efficient, accessible, and organized? I ask that you announce these improvements now and allow for feedback from the public as it's important we know what to expect from these meetings, as well as what will be expected of us, and it's crucial they're moderated in such a way that provides guests sufficient time to ask questions about the agenda during the business at hand, as well as time to ask general questions regarding OTW projects, progress on the strategic plan, and the organization's work fulfilling its pledge to make the OTW and its platforms a safer, more inclusive space for fans of color. If you haven't yet decided on any changes, please commit to announcing them at least two weeks ahead of the next meeting. Thank you, Punk

The NLRB just announced an incredible pro-worker policy: Banning ‘captive audience meetings.’

Captive audience meetings are a way that corporations force workers to sit through anti-union propaganda.

The pro-worker NLRB hangs in the balance, as Chairwoman Lauren McFerran’s term expires on December 16th. She has been re-nominated, but the Senate has not acted to confirm her.

Tell the Senate: Lock in a pro-worker majority on the NLRB until 2026! Confirm Lauren McFerran immediately!

Right now we are facing unprecedented attacks on workers' rights. Corporations like Amazon, SpaceX, and Trader Joe's are challenging the constitutionality of the National Labor Relations Act, while Project 2025 threatens to undermine worker protections. Even OSHA's proposed heat standard is under threat.

And now, with Trump set to take office, it's imperative that the Biden administration does everything in its power to safeguard workers' rights now. One critical step: the Senate must reconfirm National Labor Relations Board Chair Lauren McFerran before her term expires on December 16, 2024.

Why Confirming Lauren McFerran Matters:

If confirmed, Chair McFerran will maintain a pro-worker majority on the Board until 2026. If not, Trump will gain control of two Board seats, shifting the balance to a conservative majority.

The NLRB’s mission is to protect our rights as workers to organize, form unions, and bargain collectively.
