Book Review: Twice Sold Tales by Chautona Havig
Bookstrings Book 1 Twice Sold Tales by Chautona HavigKindleMy rating: 5 of 5 starsGreat openingThe title, the cover, the author, and the subject all got me salivating from the start. According to the title line, this is the beginning of a series and I really do hope so. Not to give away the plot but I liked the multiple focus points including helping a little guy navigate life and literacy with…

Commonly shortened to “bi” and “pan”, these sexualities are similar in many ways. Both bisexual people and pansexual people are attracted to multiple genders, both are trans-inclusive, and both experience similar stereotyping by others.
The key difference between them is all about how people experience attraction. Bisexual people are attracted to people of the same and other genders, while pansexual people are more likely to describe an attraction to a person regardless of their gender. However there is some overlap and it’s best to use the label the person themselves prefers.
Three Dos and Don’ts
DO
… be aware of common stereotypes and think carefully about the purpose behind choosing to include one of them
…be explicit in the text, either with dialogue, actions, or internal monologue, about the character’s sexuality
…ensure the character’s sexuality is only one facet of their personality
DON’T
…write pansexuality as being trans-inclusive and bisexuality as trans-exclusive
…assume all bi and pan people are equally attracted to all genders (it’s a spectrum 😄)
…describe bi/pan people in m/f relationships as “straight passing” or generally erase the character’s identity

NOTE: The celebs listed in these articles are those who have openly discussed their sexuality, however due to the sometimes fluid nature of sexuality, there is some overlap between these lists.

Mass popular psycho bookstring movements are about granting social leverage to make up for supposed economic and physicall deficiency
If men get the privilege of women and the power of men then women are in the hole again
Or at least that's the fear and/or theory that or they will corrupt it I know I know I probably shouldn't but to borrow from the Barbie movie the idea that Barbie was usurped by the patriarchy and orders to make it negative and destructive and coercive towards womanhood and womanhood
Also this very much started as a counter to the no fat checks or constantly shaming women's bodies are calling them ugly as a way to counter their sense of worth
Having it then need to go in order to fix men's psyches feels as if it's betrayal because the entire reason for its existence was to make women feel good against what they felt was male dismissal
This is why I don't like identity politics it starts with the promise of acknowledging and loving the color that makes up our universe
But then it turns into grievance mongering and then a grift or a means to create a eternal faction of doops and Those who want to win an easy Battle when they believe that the hard ones just been fought using the same tools of a hard Battle not understanding that those were the tools for that Battle and we've kind of gotta move strategies in fact it should stop being a Battle battle and start being more of a civil reform
It's not that there can't be well retrograde movement or need for more focus or fighting but it should be secondary not primary but this is the primary way it's both engaged with and framed through the identity politics lens
Tumblr media
Not only are they sexist they're also incredibly racist and wildly ignorant about what constitutes free speech.
Quoting a member of congress instead of Ginsburg tells me they may actually be willfully ignorant.

Good morning pumpkins!! The other day I found these gems by @jacqueline_woodson in my collection & I figured I’d give them a read since they were only about 100 pages each. • • I didn’t know I could fall in love with characters within 20 pages but she obviously proved WE CAN! I think this was my first Romeo & Juliet retelling & it definitely did not disappoint. (BTW, the flop was REAL in these!!! Iykyk) • • I loved the fact that the story related perfectly to everything we’re going through right now in our world & how eloquently it developed. It wasn’t some regular sappy love story. It’s a story about love, overcoming, hope, loss, grief, acceptance. It was honestly amazing & if you haven’t done so already, make sure to give these a read!!! • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • #ifyoucomesoftly #behindyou #romeoandjuliet #jacquelinewoodson #retellings #romeoandjulietretelling #igreads #bookcollection #bookstoread #library #readingismagic #readingbooks #bookrecs #bookrecommendations #bookstr #bookish #weneeddiversebooks #paperbacklove #floppybooks #bookcommunity #bookoftheday #beautifulbooks #tobereadpile #becauseofreading #totalbooknerd #tbrpile #bookcollector #bookhoarder #mustread #bookishlyengaged (at New York, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/CC3rgtfAtjl/?igshid=cypbmnnd3ruc
