★ Happy #ShelfieSunday, all! What was your last five star read? My last five star read was A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers! It definitely gave me those cozy SFF vibes and if you enjoyed Legends and Lattes and/or The House on the Cerulean Sea, I think you’ll love it as well. I’m actually not reading anything right now, too! I’ve been focusing on writing this weekend, and have made some good progress in my WIP, though not as much as I’d like to. 🫠 I’ve also been behind on a lot of bookstagram stuff lately, and feel like it’s a culmination of a busy start to the semester, and other things that have wracked my motivation. The algorithm isn’t helping any, either. I’m hoping things will slow down by mid-March and I can get back on track then. Hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend! I really like reading outdoors, I find I concentrate a lot more than when I’m home. ☕️Books that make you cry or laugh? If I hear someone say “this book crushed my soul and ripped my hear out” you bet it’s gonna go on my amazon cart. ☕️Hero or Villain? Villain all the way. ★ What have you been up to this weekend? I’m starting #ShelfieSunday early over here! I mentioned last night in my stories that we got a PS5, so I’ve been bouncing between playing Horizon Zero Dawn (this is my first PlayStation since the PS3, so I have some catching up to do!) and watching my husband play Ghosts of Tsushima while I listen to the audiobook of The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley. Tomorrow I plan to clean up my library—it does NOT look like this right now. In fact, I considered making this a “bookstagram vs. reality” post for you all, but it’s bad … it’s so bad. I haven’t seen it that messy in months. 😅🤣 Tomorrow my goal is to clean up from taking pictures this past week and do some more organizing. I loved the movie Pet Sematary as a pre-teen, I would watch it all the time because I was fascinated about the whole bringing the dead back to life thing, but it wasn't until I read the book when I was a teenager that I learned it was also about loss and grief and how far that pushes people. It's about coping with something impossible and then being given a way to get it back, no matter the cost.

✨Review✨ Heaven by Mieko Kawakami ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you have been thinking about reading this book, this is your sign to go pick it up! #chefskiss . SOPOILERS . Yesterday I finished reading this little piece of gold. Heaven is the story of two teenagers being bullied at school and forming a platonic friendship. The book has this Gorgeous dialogues between these two characters whose social ineptitude make for interesting, deep and unfiltered conversations about life, society and purpose. My favorite character was the protagonist’s stepmother, they have all these wholesome interactions and she seems to love her stepson so much. I just loved all scenes where the two of them were together. Mieko Kawakami has a talent for creating characters that seem real, they all give the impression of having a backstory even if it’s not written in the paper as such, you just feel how much she cared about all of them and every detail. I also (And here comes a little spoiler) particularly enjoyed a conversation he has with one of his bullies about the reason behind all the abuse and it is enlightening how this character has completely separated morality from human behavior and seems to find it unnatural and nonsensical to even think about the relation of the two. As opposed to Kojima’s character who sees her own bulling as part of an almost religious experience of enlightenment. . This book was at times adorable and at other times heartbreaking, but it had my heart from beginning to end. Would highly recommend. .
