Suzanne collins is a certified GENIUS because by making most of the book about the PUBLICITY of the rebellion and not the fight itself, she was telling us that wars are won by who persuades more- who controls the narrative .

Patel is a very dangerous conspiracy theorist. Putting him in charge of the FBI will destroy the independence of that institution. Patel will likely turn FBI agents into 'enforcers' for the Trump agenda that will be used to investigate and intimidate his critics.
“We will go out and find the conspirators — not just in government, but in the media — yes, we’re going to come after the people in the media who lied about American citizens, who helped Joe Biden rig presidential elections. “We’re going to come after you. Whether it’s criminally or civilly, we’ll figure that out. But yeah, we’re putting you all on notice, and Steve, this is why they hate us. This is why we’re tyrannical. This is why we’re dictators.... Because we’re actually going to use the Constitution to prosecute them for crimes they said we have always been guilty of but never have.” Kash Patel (Dec. 2023) on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast
Indoctrinating Children Into MAGA Beliefs
I don't know if Patel is just corrupt or he actually believes the conspiracy theories about the 2020 election having been rigged, or that "federal bureaucrats in the 'deep state' tried to overthrow the former president."
Regardless, Patel actually wrote a series of children's books whose purpose was to indoctrinate children into the belief that the Democrats had created terrible "plots" to prevent Trump from becoming and remaining president
Here are the book series titles: The Plot Against the King (April 1, 2022),The Plot Against the King 2000 Mules (Aug. 29, 2022), The Plot Against the King 3: The Return of the King (Sept. 9, 2024).
Furthermore, the article above claims the book series features Patel "as a 'wizard' defending “King Donald.'”
Below is the cover from the third book. You can see Patel as the "wizard" on the left:
I'm sorry, but anyone who stoops to indoctrinating children regarding MAGA conspiracies should NOT be in charge of the FBI.
For a humorous take on the second book in the series, by a left- leaning TikToker SnoozeAlarmMom, see this POST.
[Below the cut are some excerpts from the article. It's one of the more thorough articles out there about Kash Patel, so I highly recommend reading it.]
President-elect Donald Trump announced Saturday he would pick Kashyap "Kash" Patel, a 44-year-old loyalist with little significant experience in federal law enforcement, to serve as director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. [...] A former senior law enforcement official who interacted with Patel in the past said he was not qualified for the position.
"It’s ridiculous. He’s arguably the least qualified person ever nominated for a senior position in federal law enforcement," said the former official, who asked not to be named citing fears of retaliation from Trump. "I don’t know anything significant that he achieved at the DOJ. He was not well regarded as a prosecutor." [...] Patel has promoted the falsehood that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump as well as the baseless conspiracy theory that federal bureaucrats in the “deep state” tried to overthrow the former president.
Patel has called for replacing “anti-democratic” civil servants in law enforcement and intelligence with “patriots” who he says will work for the American people. In his memoir, "Government Gangsters," he described the current political moment as “a battle between the people and a corrupt ruling class." [...] Patel has also echoed Trump’s rhetoric labeling journalists as traitors and calling for “cleaning out” of allegedly disloyal federal civil servants. In an interview last year with longtime Trump ally Steve Bannon, Patel vowed to go after “conspirators” who he claimed had abused their positions in government. “The one thing we learned in the Trump administration the first go-around is that we have to put in all-American patriots top to bottom,” Patel told Bannon.
“And the one thing that we will do that they never will do is that we will follow the facts and the law and go to courts of law," he said. "And correct these justices and lawyers who have been prosecuting these cases based on politics." “We will go out and find the conspirators, not just in government but in the media — yes, we’re going to come after the people in the media who lied about American citizens who helped Joe Biden rig presidential elections," Patel said. "Whether it’s criminally or civilly, we’re going to figure that out — but yeah, we’re putting you all on notice."
A “wizard” defending “King Donald”
Patel joined Trump on the 2024 campaign trail and has promoted his memoir, a film adaptation of the memoir and a line of children’s books featuring him as a “wizard” defending “King Donald.” [...] A former senior federal law enforcement official who served under Trump during his first term said that the Patel and Gaetz nominations were signs of Trump's disdain for the DOJ and FBI and both agencies' efforts to not be used to settle political scores.
"He's just going to run roughshod over them," predicted the former official, who asked not to be named due to fear of retaliation by Trump. "He’s thumbing his nose at the DOJ and FBI with these nominations. He’s going to effect his will regardless of our norms."

Here’s my ballot. Mix of “Important” for the 21st century, influential, and “I thought were good.” Thinking about editing but I think it should stay. Curious what other people’s top 10 would be
#Books#I feel like I might need to edit for hurricane season and days without end because those are less likely to get the nom#But I was the first person to nominate Jerusalem - which I think has been hugely influential in ways even beyond the political -#And the new odyssey translation. Also massively influential

˗ˏˋ 𝐘𝐔𝐑𝐈 UPDATED STYLE GUIDE !! ⋆. 𐙚˚ ˚◞
yuri has been known for her style since the groups debut with her airport fashion gaining a lot of attention. when looking at yuri’s style you notice how it’s inherently feminine with lots of skirts, dresses and frills. as of late she has been sporting a lot of two piece sets and large flower embellishments. she always adds a touch of preppiness and class by accessorizing with hand bags, blazers and recently with bows and ribbons. yuri steers away from prints and darker colours, wearing them sparingly. aside from pink she does not incorporate a lot of colours into her wardrobe and sticks to a neutral colour pallet of white , grey and denim. when it comes to shoes it’s no secret that yuri loves boots and heels. she is known to have a massive shoe collection which allows her to experiment with lengths and textures. she loves to pairing them with socks to add another element to the look.
by mixing all these elements and topping off the look with a high pony and glossy makeup you too can create the perfect yuri approved outfit !!

Five at age 10: Why would I waste my time choosing a stupid name when I need to work on reinventing the Planck scale, Grace? I only have about 20 years or so of maximum brain capacity.
#but in reality he was experiencing an identity crisis#I bet he read a lot of archaeological studies on the origin of names and books on nominative and linguistic determinism#In the end he concluded that it didn't matter because what was had already been#(also if he was really going to reinvent mathematics#the name fit and that sparked another philosophical crisis about destiny)#or he was just mocking reggie's ranking system#number five

Alice Albinia's The Britannias is a fascinating book on many levels but also the prime reason why writing about history, especially premodern history, double-especially premodern women's history, is not so easy as just quoting some writers utterly without context/critical scaffolding/enquiry/rigorous methodology and doesn't actually prove what you want it to prove, even if the point is one to which we might otherwise be sympathetic.
#hilary for ts#history#women in history#medieval history#apparently this book is being nominated for women's prize/nonfiction awards and like.#it's an excellent collection of personal essays#it says many interesting sociological things about modern britain#it does present a few loosely academic arguments i would like to look more into#but it is giving me an Itch the more i read and i just. need to once again state that doing history#or at least doing history *well*#is a skill you have to train for!#you can't just go in and Vibe it!#anyway. yes. further rant available on request. alas.

The National Book Award’s jury doesn’t even have to worry about being overruled! It’s not like with the Pulitzers, where there’s a history of the general committee overruling jury picks they think are too out-there. Like in 1976, the general committee refused to give the award to Gravity’s Rainbow. They thought the book was too long, too obscure—that the jury was just having fun, picking something they liked, instead of something that was of interest to the general reader.
wait, the Pulitzers did what? lmaoooo
Similarly, in 2012, the exact same thing happened. The Pulitzer Prize three-member fiction jury offered up Karen Russell’s Swamplandia, Denis Johnson’s Train Dreams, and David Foster Wallace’s The Pale King. The fifteen-member general committee declined to give the award to any of these books, instead opting to give no award. They didn’t give a reason, but presumably they thought the books weren’t very good. It is a bit funny that whenever the Pulitzer Prize committee does choose to exercise its discretion, it does so in order to refuse recognition to authors who are actually good, like David Foster Wallace and Thomas Pynchon. I haven’t read The Pale King, but I’ve read most of his other work—it’s quite difficult, but it’s stuck with me and influenced me in a way most Pulitzer winners haven’t.
incredible...
bonus surprising fun fact of the day:
By the way, out of that trio of war novels I mentioned, the only one that came close to winning an award was Slaugherhouse Five, which was nominated for both the Hugo and the Nebula awards in 1961. That mostly happened because sci-fi fans thought of Vonnegut as “one of us,” and we tend to be very chuffed when one of us writes a book that gets broader attention (Michael Chabon won the Nebula for The Yiddish Policeman’s Union for a similar reason). But still, it shows the value of having a naked popularity contest.
(all the above from is from this article)
#had no idea vonnegut was nominated. til.#and also had never thought about how those other awards are picked before lmao#god if i were on the national book award committee and knew i was totally unrestrained i would have SO much fun#full Twelve Angry Men but instead of making sure a dude isn't convicted for murder i'm just stanning for some hipster book
