Zen Welcomes Jaynix Copeland
For those unfamiliar, I made one of my favorite OCs of all time over a year ago. Her name is of course Jaynix Copeland and she originated as a created character / avatar/ custom unit for Xenoblade Chronicles X, taking the role as “Cross” however, even in X she was not “Cross” my first X OC Kruse filled that role, she was a separate one I introduced into that universe, joining after the game’s main campaign ended.
Jaynix’s Cross Bio
Anyway, I haven’t really gone into it on tumblr and I don’t think I will but I don’t consider myself part of the X fandom anymore. I don’t write for it, I don’t draw for it, I don’t talk about it anymore. Lots of reasons. That’s not what’s important.
What is important is that I always wanted to keep using Jaynix removed from the X context and placed into something that I...well, liked more and had more freedom over so I migrated her over to my own personal universe in “Zen: World of Power”
So a short primer on where she fits in first.
Zen takes place on the planet Zen home to the Alpha Knight system, through many events that I have planned and things, the characters of that world eventually come into contact with the characters of another world.
That other world is called Terra and it differs greatly from Zen in many many ways. Political landscape, technological advancements, hierarchy and so on.
Its in this world that the new Jaynix Copeland lives. What follows is a look into what kind of person she is and her character history of the major events she’s been through up until where she first “officially appears” in “Zen: World of Power”.
Jaynix grew up a determined youth. She was always known to have a fiery spirit and put her mind and body into every single thing she ever did. Giving everything 110%
She could be intimidating but what strangers would consider a fierce roaring fire they’d come to see that she’s more of a warm comfortable glow when you got to know her.
Dedicated to her homeland (haven’t decided which country she originates from) she joins up with their military force. Training up and making a name for herself, eventually recruited to the most decorated military that defends the borders and sanctity of Terra’s greatest country (no name there yet either sorry).
So now Jaynix is a decorated member of the Elite Terran Defense Force and all she does is for her home, her family, her friends. One of the strongest among their ranks.
However. Terra is polluted by those would abuse their positions, their powers and while the outside displays shining generals and figures of peace, the inside reveals how corrupt many of them are and how tainted the levels of power have become.
And one day. This becomes painfully clear to Jaynix after she participates in a horrendous event. Next thing the ETDF knows, she’s gone and she is put on watch alerts over the country as a deserter. Violent and armed she is to be put down on sight.
Jaynix travels as far as she can remaining discrete and undetected.
A bit more world lore here: Terra is sustained by a seemingly divine flame that burns from deep within the planet. This essence is known as the Lifeflame, a pure source of endless might, some of which is harnessed into technological advancements.
In Jaynix’s self imposed exile, she uses her skills and training to look into the lives and designs of the many corrupt individuals she learned of. Several of which planned on harnessing that Lifeflame for far more destructive purposes. Something that had been attempted many times before but could never succeed.
She feared that one day, someone would and Terra would change forever.
So she sought out a way to get to the Lifeflame and protect it. How? She had absolutely no idea.
Eventually she meets with one of Terra’s brightest minds, a scholar almost entirely dedicated to researching the Lifeflame. Shula. The woman works out of the same country that has Jaynix on “kill on sight” orders.
Jaynix is brought to Shula through another acquaintance: Kriss Fowler. Another studied researcher of the Lifeflame, working with Shula.
Once her intentions made clear, Shula and Kriss join with her in tracking down the Lifeflame, working to find if it is truly as inaccessible as people believe or if there is a way to reach it.
What follows is a long stretch of research and gathering what they need to make the trip. Shula and Jaynix take to the field and Kriss sets up a new HQ for them, far removed from that country so that Jaynix no longer has to risk going in.
At some point they learn of the ETDF Tribunal Unit that is hunting for Jaynix, some of the highest ranked soldiers in the military comprise it, most either corrupt or convinced by the others that Jaynix is indeed a deserter among other unmentionable crimes.
Jaynix and Shula occasionally get into skirmishes with them as their trackers are the greatest in Terra. Shula brings the point to Jaynix that if they’re always this good, Jaynix’s mission might lead them to the Lifeflame so Jaynix has Kriss work on measures if that should happen as Kriss isn’t purely a researcher, but she’s more of a heavy weapons designer who changed to research out of curiosity and respect for Shula.
Terra is home to many “vents” that are believed to lead to the very core of the planet but are too deep for any normal exploration and jets of Lifeflame energy shoot out from them. Too much for anyone to handle though this is how the Lifeflame is used for advancement.
The team discovers a vent that had partially collapsed due to an old Terran war and Lifeflame no longer seeps through. Giving them a route that may take them to the flame itself.
It’s during their descent that the Tribunal finds them and through hacking their comms, learns of Kriss’ HQ. Something she anticipated. So while Jaynix and Shula descend (losing comms) Kriss picks up on the Tribunal’s approach and prepares to deal with them herself.
Jaynix is a full fledged military combatant, trained in dual sword combat and Shula trained herself in barefisted arts, complimented by enhanced gauntlets Kriss designed for her. Kriss, isn’t a fighter but her inventions are all she needs.
Down in the Lifeflame tunnel the Tribunal catches up to Jaynix and Shula and a big fight ensues. The leader of this Tribunal is someone Jaynix is well acquainted with, having fought alongside him all her ETDF career and he’s been on her tail since she “deserted” they’ve fought before but never to this extent.
Their clash causes a cave in. In an effort to save Shula, Jaynix drops her guard and takes a mortal blow to her back before the cave collapses on her and most of the Tribunal forces.
Shula digs a dying Jaynix out of the cave in and continues their mission, she finds a sheer drop that leads farther down than she ever imagined. She believes it goes to the Lifeflame.
Out of options, Shula does something her researcher mind firmly believes is a mistake and drops the dying Jaynix into the seemingly bottomless pit.
It’s at this point the Lifeflame reaches out to Jaynix and a contract is formed between the two. Jaynix returns, saves Shula from the surviving Tribunal officers, kills them all with new mystical powers granted by the Lifeflame and then escapes the tunnel with Shula but not before causing it to collapse on itself, keeping anyone from using it to reach the Lifeflame.
The pair returns to Kriss who’s armaments kept the Tribunal out of the HQ (killed them all) and Jaynix falls into a coma for a month as her body adjusts to the Lifeflame within.
It’s during this coma that she is “contacted” by the Lifeflame itself to explain their contract. There are forces looking to utilize or even destroy the Lifeflame and it can no longer protect itself so in exchange for saving Jaynix’s life it asks that she take on the role as it and in effect, Terra’s protector.
Having something to put her strength to that she believes, Jaynix accepts.
From then on, Jaynix, Shula and Kriss’ mission changes from finding the Lifeflame to protecting it. Rooting out the Terran corrupt who seek to abuse the Lifeflame’s gifts.
Oh and also, through all their work together, Jaynix and Shula fall in love and get married. Hurrah!
So by the time one of the core Zen characters (named Kruse) gets to Terra and meets Jaynix, she’s already married to Shula and working with her and Kriss to protect the Lifeflame.
What’s Jaynix’s introductory scene like?
Well, through some space time hullabaloo Kruse lands on Terra in an open field in the middle of nowhere. He sees a house hidden among the trees in the distance and goes their seeking answers. One knock on the door has Jaynix kicking it open and asking “WHO THE FUCK IS IT?” Prepared to kill what she believes is either ETDF military or at least scare off some poor stranger.
Kruse is shocked to say the least. But aside from one specific man (named K) no one else knows she lives there and she is still being hunted by the ETDF so her reaction makes sense.
Shula appears next and calms her down before they introduce themselves to Kruse and from then on the series continues...
So.
Jaynix Copeland. Welcome to Zen: World of Power. I’m so glad to be using her again. And I must give a shout out to a good friend of mine @petelavadigger for allowing me to also bring Shula into the universe of Zen. She is a character he originally drew and created ALSO as a character in the X universe where she and Jay are also happily married. Some things should never change!
And one more note, Kriss also migrates from X, another OC in that who is obviously now here. Her main difference is she isn’t morally bankrupt and not nearly as cruel as she is in X.

Kriss (how she looked in X, she doesn’t change much at all in Zen)

The Great Palawan Experience: The Beautiful Islands of El Nido #Day4
It’s my fourth day and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Honestly, El Nido was where I was very much excited about that’s why this place had the most number of days I stayed in. I had four days to explore and enjoy the marvels of this paradise and I definitely spent each one with pure fun.
I woke up early on my 2nd day in El Nido for my island hopping tour. I inquired the tour through a friend I met on an online travel group. Shout out to Ruffa for making my stay in El Nido fun and worthwhile! I was able to get a tour discount from her and she also accompanied me in my hike to Taraw Cliff. Feel free to message me HERE for her contact details. Let Ruffa know that I recommended her to you. ;)
Since I was on a budget, I actually planned to just have a very simple breakfast from the groceries I had last night but went with a Tapsilog meal outside instead. It was my very first morning in El Nido, anyway. That day deserved a big meal. :P
Call time for the island hopping tour was 8:00AM. I met with Ruffa at her workplace and she led me to the group I’ll be joining in. She actually intended to accompany me for the day but unfortunately was unable to due to work. But that’s okay, and besides, she’ll go with me on my last day for Taraw Cliff.
Our group was a mixture of Filipinos and foreigners. Surprisingly, the group of Filipinos was actually from my hometown in Pasig City. What a small world! There were also siblings who were locals and the rest were from different parts of the world. ‘Twas a cool bunch.
We had a Combination Tour of A & C and as far as I know, El Nido no longer allows combo tours but some travel agencies still offer it anyway. Combination tours are perfect for those who are limited in time but still want to make the most out of their travel. It’s cheaper as well but the only downside would be the allotted time for each destination. We were left with around 30 mins to 1 hour of time to explore each place which was very fine for me.
We had a short stop at the EL Nido Tourism Office by the shore to pay the ETDF or the Environmental Fee. It was Php200 but it’s already included in the package. Then off we started for our full day activity!
First island was one of my favorites, the Seven Commandos Beach. The white sand was comparable to Boracay’s and Panglao’s but I would say this place is better. It’s not overcrowded and no establishments can be found except for one small sari-sari store in the middle where you can buy fresh coconut juice. If you’re up to beach bumming, this is the place to be.
It might look fun (which actually really was) but it’s actually challenging and scary. XD
Our tour guide explained why the beach was called such name. It was said that during World War II, seven soldiers were stranded on the island and lived there. Our guide also pointed out on the boulders nearby wherein the soldiers’ names were printed. Too bad we’re already in the boat and can no longer see it closely.
We spent there longer as expected since our boat malfunctioned and still needed to wait for the new one to arrive. No one’s complaining though as we had more time to enjoy this wonderful beach.
Our second destination was the Small Lagoon. One needs to rent a kayak or must swim to get there. The kayak was worth Php300 for an hour good for two people. Some of the foreigners went with kayaking while the thrifty Filipinos just enjoyed the view from the boat. LOL! As much as I would want to see the small lagoon personally, I don’t have someone to share the kayak with and I found it pricey if I’ll do it alone. I’d be my first time doing it as well so I might look stupid. LOL! I’m not a good swimmer too so that one was not an option.
Right after Small Lagoon was Big Lagoon. It’s probably the most picturesque destination here in El Nido as this is usually the place being used for postcards and advertisements. I’m actually uncertain if this one or 7 Commandos Beach is my favorite. Well, this dilemma is quite common if you’re here in El Nido as every island indeed is a gem.
I really enjoyed this place as I was in pure wonder the whole time. We’re surrounded with mighty limestone cliffs as we slowly passing by through this unbelievably clear turquoise water. Our tour guide even pointed out to some rock formations that looked like different figures such as an elephant and the Virgin Mary.
Next stop was Secret Lagoon. Perfect to its name, one needs to enter a small opening to get to the lagoon. It’s no longer a secret though since a flock of tourists are already visiting this every day. It was a fun experience going through that opening as it felt like you’re a real explorer and about to discover a new amazing place.
It was already midday so the group decided to have lunch. Usually, the tour will stop by on an island for lunch but since we’re on a combo tour and only had limited time, we dock somewhere nearby and ate our lunch on the boat. We had a feast of grilled fish, shrimp, and chicken and also had some veggies and watermelons, and of course rice! Our lunch was very satisfying.
Once we had filled up our stomachs, we immediately headed to our next destination which was the Secret Beach. Just like the Secret Lagoon, you need to enter a small opening to get to the beach. This one was more challenging though as we need to swim to get in. The water was so deep that you can do snorkeling here as well.
I was not sure if this was the place to be after lunch but I was really having a hard time getting in. LOL! The waves were very playful. When I was about to enter the hole, I was kept on being pushed back because of the strong current. There were also other people in the entry point that time so I was accidentally hitting them. :(
Finally, I was able to get in and it was another hidden gem indeed. I liked this more than the Secret Lagoon because this one had clearer water and of course a beach to relax to. The challenge of reaching this place was definitely worth it.
We passed by Matinloc Shrine but no longer stopped there as it required an entrance fee. It turned out that the island is a private place and our tour guides suggested not to pay a visit anymore as it’s not worth it. We stopped by on a nearby coral garden instead. Since I was not able to experience the Coral Garden in Coron (find out why HERE), I took this opportunity to snorkel around the area.
It’s almost the end of the day and we still have two destinations in line. Second to the last was one of my favorites as well, the Hidden Beach. It’s hidden indeed that lies behind the towering rock walls. Don’t be intimidated with these giant rock formations ahead of you as a small wonderful cove of white sand is just right behind it waiting for you.
This was the place I got stung by something unknown. Click HERE to see what happened on my right arm. :(
Our last destination was the Helicopter Island. I was sure that we’re already somewhere nearby the town proper as I saw this island when we just jumpstarted the day. You will not able to miss this island and if you’ve already heard of the name, you know that this island is the one. It was really shaped like a helicopter from afar.
Since it’s almost end of the day and a couple from our group needed to catch a 5:00PM meeting, we spent only around 15 minutes to this beautiful island. I would say it’s perfect to have this as the last stop as the sunset view is spectacular here. And I think we’re the only group that was there that time.
The islands of El Nido are absolutely art made from above. It’s literally a heaven on earth. I feel so grateful being here to experience firsthand what our creator has perfectly made. This place is definitely a paradise and a perfect example for wanderlust. One should definitely include this in their bucket list. Good thing, I still have two more days to make the most out of this utopia.

We Love El Nido!!!
Ang Islang hindi uso ang LIBRE!!!!
Who would have thought na makaka apak kami sa lupa nang El Nido, Palawa?
Honestly, Palawan is not in my Bucket List! but, it’s in my “BAKIT LIST” hahahahaa
not until there was a Seat Sale in Air Asia last June 12, 2016, We booked our tickets right away without letting my statement of account bled…
Imagine, we only payed Php. 1, 096 for 5 pax so that would be
1,096 / 5 = 219.20 / 220 ROUNDTRIP!!!
YES! You’ve read it right it only cost us Php 220.00 EACH ROUNDTRIP (MNL -PPS / PPS – MNL).
HOW TO GET HERE:
Option 1: From Manila, there are various Airlines that fly to Puerto Princesa (the capital city of Palawan) Cebu Pacific Air, Philippine Airlines and Airasia. Travel time is about an hour.
Upon arrival at Puerto Princesa International Airport, you may opt to take a passenger van to El Nido. Travel Time from Puerto Princesa to El Nido is approximately 5 – 6 hours and the fare is Php. 500.00 per person.
Do you think it is worth the long transit? Well, i would say YES! DEFINITELY YES!!!
Furthermore, there are an ample number of shuttle van services in Puerto Princesa going to El Nido.
or you may also want to ride the RORO BUS Transport (Fare is 290 for aircon, 380 for air conditioned bus) or Cherry Bus. From airport, take a tricycle ride to San Jose Bus Terminal, usually tricycle drivers will ask Php. 120 – 150.00 for the fare, just haggle if you must. 🙂
yan po itsura nung bus 🙂 regular bus po yan meron din po aircon 🙂
their Daily Schedule is
4:00 AM (1st trip)
6:00 AM
8:00AM
10:00AM
12:00 Noon
2:00 PM
4:00PM

For booking & Reservations:
txt / call them at 0920-2870381 / 0905-3155906

TRAVEL TIP: Fly to Puerto Princesa as early as possible para hindi magaya sa amin na naiwan nang BUS hahahahaha….
Option 2 : Alternatively, there is already a direct flight from Manila to El Nido, Palawan via AirSwift they have daily roundtrip flights from NAIA 4 to El Nido Airport. I think this would be the most convenient and easiest way if you want to reach El Nido as fast as possible.
WHERE TO STAY?
With the growing popularity of El Nido to both Foreign and Locals, there are already wide selection of hotels and resorts in El Nido which caters the accomodation needs of the tourists.
During our Trip, we stayed at Northern Hope Inn Extension wich is situated at the town proper of El Nido, everything is just a walking distance from restaurants, stores and port where guests will ride the boats for the Island Hopping Tours.
Northern Hope Tours

Moreover, it is also a tricycle ride away from the Transportation Terminal and the Public Market.
Our room is a huge room that could comfortably fit 6 people. It has essential amenities needed for a more relax and comfortable stay, such as a private toilet and bath, a flat screen television set with cable channels, air conditioning unit, cabinets and free use of bath towels. and YES! THINGS TO DO IN EL NIDO:
For me, there’s no much to do in El Nido to add on your itinerary.
But, for our trip these are the things we’ve done.
Island Hopping with buffet lunch in one ISLAND!!!! :)) (yeay!!!! seafoods overload )

WHAT ARE THE BEST TOUR TO AVAIL?
Actually, wherever you go in El Nido, all tour organizer have the same line up of tours that would be A, B, C and D. As far as I know, the best selling tour is Tour A and C. But in our case since we are staying for 5 days 4 nights, we availed the combo tours with private boat from Northern Hope Tours, so, that would be Tour A and C then Tour B and D. Then, in our free day we opt to explore Nacpan Beach and Marimegmeg Beach.
**Before I forgot, all tours except for Marimegmeg and Nacpan includes snorkeling gear, life jacket and the heavenly and scrumptious lunch!.

TRAVEL TIPs:
There are very few establishments that accept credit card in El Nido. There is no reliable ATMs here. Visitors are advised to bring enough funds for their entire stay in El Nido.
as I have observed there is only 1 bank in El Nido, it’s BPI (Bank of the Philippines Island)
Bring dry bag for your gadgets.
Bring Sports cam or a waterproof camera if you have :))
Bring basic medicines (for pain, fever, cough and colds, anti histamine and such)
Bring mosquito repellant especially if you are stayin in hostels.
Foods in El Nido ranges from Php 150.00 and above.
When visiting Snake Island, avoid bringing foods and drinks as there is monkey that bites and steal foods. The monkey is kinda aggresive.
That’s it! I hope the above information helps.
Enjoy your Trip in El Nido, Palawan
I you have questions and violent reactions just post a comment, i’ll get back to you as soon as i read it :)))
