Watching Bucchigiri?! and seeing all the genuinely well implemented references to Arabic art folklore: 🥰🥰😍😘💙❤️🩷
Watching American YouTubers react to it all calling it "Indian" and not even doing that respectfully: 💀💀💀💀💀

Holi Style Guide: Embrace Tradition With a Modern Twist
Introduction:
Tumblr media
The Significance of Holi:
Holi holds significant cultural and mythological importance in Hinduism. It is associated with various legends, primarily the tale of Holika and Prahlad, which symbolizes the triumph of devotion and righteousness over evil. The festival also celebrates the eternal love of Radha and Krishna, where Lord Krishna is depicted as playing pranks with colors on Radha and her friends. Holi thus embodies the spirit of joy, love, and the victory of good over evil.

Influence of Social Media and Digital Platforms:
Moreover, the advent of social media and digital platforms has played a significant role in popularizing this trend. With influencers, celebrities, and fashion enthusiasts showcasing their unique Holi looks on various online platforms, there’s a growing influence on individuals to embrace this modern ethnic aesthetic. The allure of being featured in trending Holi fashion posts or garnering likes and comments for one’s stylish ensemble adds an extra layer of excitement to the celebrations, encouraging more people to explore and experiment with their Holi outfits.
Beyond Clothing: Accessories and Beauty
Furthermore, the concept of celebrating Holi in style with modern ethnic designs extends beyond just clothing; it encompasses accessories, footwear, and even beauty and grooming choices. From colorful bangles and statement earrings to embellished clutches and embroidered potlis, there’s a plethora of options to choose from. Add a touch of sparkle with dazzling bindis, maang tikka, and nose rings for an extra dose of glam. Don’t forget to protect your hair with stylish scarves or bandanas and shield your eyes with trendy sunglasses as you dive into the festivities with full fervor.
Conclusion:
In essence, embracing modern ethnic designs for Holi symbolizes a celebration of diversity, creativity, and self-expression. It transcends the boundaries of tradition and innovation, weaving together threads of culture and fashion to create a tapestry of style that is both timeless and contemporary. As we usher in the festival of colors in 2024, let us not only revel in the joyous spirit of Holi but also embrace the opportunity to celebrate it in style, with colorful Holi festival attire that reflects our rich cultural heritage and evolving fashion sensibilities. Samyakk.com, renowned for its variety of outfits like designer sarees, trendy salwar kameez, designer lehengas, and many more in enticing colors, craftsmanship, and luxurious fabrics, offers a perfect canvas for this celebration of colorful Holi attire. After all, Holi is not just a festival; it’s a canvas where we paint our dreams, aspirations, and identity in vibrant hues for the world to see and admire.

Lyrics:
La La La La
La La La La La
La La La La - (x3)
Gulaabi Aankhen Jo Teri Dekhi
Sharaabi Yeh Dil Ho Gaya
Sambhaalo Mujhko O Mere Yaaron
Sambhalna Mushkil Ho Gaya
Dil Mein Mere
Khwaab Tere
Tasveerein Jaisi Ho Deewaar Pe
Tujhpe Fida Main Kyoon Hua
Aata Hai Gussa Mujhe Pyaar Pe
Main Lut Gaya Maanke
Dil Ka Kaha
Main Kahin Ka Na Raha
Kya Kahoon Main Dilruba
Pura Yeh Jaadu Teri Aankhon Ka
Yeh Mera Kaatil Ho Gaya
Gulaabi Aankhen Jo Teri Dekhi
Sharaabi Yeh Dil Ho Gaya
Maine Sada Chaaha Yehi
Daaman Bacha Loon
Haseenon Se Main
Teri Kasam
Khwaabon Mein Bhi
Bachta Phira
Naazneenon Se Main
Tauba Magar Mil
Gayi Tujhse Nazar
Mil Gaya Dard-E-Jigar
Sun Zara O Bekhabar
Zara Sa Haske
Jo Dekha Tune
Main Tera Bismil Ho Gaya
Gulaabi Aankhen Jo Teri Dekhi
Sharaabi Yeh Dil Ho Gaya
Sambhaalo Mujhko O Mere Yaaron
Sambhalna Mushkil Ho Gaya

I am okay with fusion but please name it as fusion dance. It is NOT classical. There is a popular dance crew in our uni and they are really good, but then I saw one clip of a fusion of bollywood + classical which is semi classical and instead of naming it as semi classical or fusion, they name it as classical. Due to this people often get the wrong idea about what is the difference between classical dance and semi-classical/fusion dance
A bharatanatyam leap + kathak chakkar + bolly thumka is not equal to classical.

Hey @3liza I went ahead and did some tweaks and wanted your take. I redid Bollywood grunge and is a lot less glamorous and got two different takes on Mod-Goth Fusion. As you will see one came out totally black but with some circles and shapes that is attributed to Mod. The other has a pop of color and hairstyle. Let me know what you think.

Hmmm when looking at the asian mod goth it looks like a similar style of top was rendered to what is in on the second woman in the last picture...so it wasnt a total bust I guess...cool.

I don’t think I’ll ever be over the weirdness of looking at somebody’s list of favorite music and realizing it’s all artists from like… the past 10 years, at best? It’s like a chill runs down my spine.
What good was the entire development of recording technology and the incredible archival resources of libraries and the Internet if people don’t use them? (Not the mention the truly astounding efforts of field musicologists… Alan Lomax must be turning in his grave.)
We have over a century of recorded music to listen to from around the world, innumerable genres and types of delight for the ears. Why limit oneself?
“But I already know what I like–”
Really? You’ve listened to all this stuff already, and determined that you don’t like any of it? 60s American garage bands and 30s hobo songs and polyphonic Georgian music and early calypso and Russian singer-songwriters and the glorious 60s and 70s big bands of West Africa and Arvo Pärt’s meditative compositions and the Celtic ballads so old no one remembers who wrote them anymore and Appalachian folk and Raï music and Turkish psychedelic rock and Aboriginal Australian singers and English Music Hall and Schumann’s Kinderszenen and all the Great American Songbook writers and Ostrock and Bach’s cantatas and Canadian sea shanties and Native American chants that preserve languages now extinct and the Warhol Factory gang and Malaysian communist music and Corsican pulifunie and rocksteady and chanson française and the spirituals that evolved from work songs sung by enslaved people in the fields and jazz fusion and the morin khuur and the Alphorn and Bollywood songs and Umm Kulthum?
I certainly haven’t even begun to make a dent in the wonderful buffet of music available to me, but as long as I keep exploring music that’s not just “new” but “new to ME”, I keep discovering new stuff I love. You might not… but you also might!
Wikipedia is free, and it will tell you who influenced whom, and where and when all these types of music come from. YouTube is free, and it will let you listen to them all. Radiooooo is free, and it's a fantastic way to expand your horizons. Don’t let the entire musical history of humankind be forgotten, I implore you.

One of my fav Bollywood fashion statements: Udita Goswami’s wraparound cropped black dress from Aksar (2006), which I feel was a fantastic fusion of a dressy Indian sari X a Western formal party aesthetic and totally ahead of its time.
