Tiny Review: Boiling Point 2021. One take escalation.
I like this. And recommend a watch.
The one-take is a good touch. I like it for the insight into the workings of a restaurant, the escalating tension and the cautionary tale.
Boiling Point is a 2021 British drama film directed by Philip Barantini and written by Barantini and James Cummings, based on a 2019 short film of the same name. It stars Stephen Graham, Vinette Robinson, Ray Panthaki, and Hannah Walters.

Ohmygosh! The headline literally says ‘A deluded, washed up charlatan who never had a hit in his career’!
I would have headlined the Danger To Society part, but you can tell the animators really wanted to shove Buster’s failure in everyone’s face! 😂

the fact that Neskantaga is still under a boil water advisory in 2024 is driving me insane.
for context: Neskantaga First Nation is a small community in Ontario 436 km [270 miles] northeast of Thunder Bay and 180 km [111 miles] northeast of Pickle Lake. They have been under a boil water advisory since February 1995 - nearly 30 goddamned years.
Progress on a new water treatment plant has been ongoing. Neskantaga First Nation's original water treatment plant was built in 1993, but the journey for a new one has undergone numerous issues involving the government and contractors, as well as shoddy construction and hazardous spills.
Construction is still listed as underway with no ETA on the advisory being lifted.
The Canadian Government perpetually drops the ball when it comes to safe water on reserves. In December 2023 the government introduced Bill C-61. It addresses clean drinking water across all First Nations communities, but Chief Chris Moonias of Neskantaga First Nation, the nation with the longest boil water advisory in the entirety of Canada, wasn't even consulted. The bill itself has also been met with much skepticism and criticism due to its vague wording, and rightfully so.
That said, despite the hells of the government there is some positive to be had. 144 long-term drinking water advisories have been lifted between November 2015 and January 2024.
I like to hope the 2021 report from the Auditor General regarding Indigenous Services Canada and its shortcomings will give them insight on how to better optimize their management going forward. So far 2022 and 2023 has continued the downward trend with fewer and fewer long-term water advisories, but it's important to know if these completed projects are successful in guaranteeing clean water to these communities for the long-term future. Is ISC actually following up with proper support.
On February 1, 2024 Indigenous Services Canada posted a statement that the Minister of Indigenous Services has met with Neskantaga First Nation Chief Christopher Moonias to discuss resolving the water advisory and create a 12-point action plan. I know it's asking a Lot within 11 months, but I really really hope the Neskantaga community won't see their long-term water advisory hit 30 years.
In the meantime, Neskantaga First Nation receives donations through Gathering of Rivers for Community Care. If you're able, please consider donating.
thanks
#Neskantaga First Nation#long post#i've been watching this trainwreck closely for the last who knows how long#genuinely i fucking hope ISC can get their shit together and get this community some clean fucking water#it's unacceptable that it's gone on this long#canada#canadian politics and issues

Do you think this episode is so boring because they brought back the Nein and reminded us how good they are? I keep thinking about this as I'm absently watching this episode, saw your post and would love to hear your thoughts on it. Because like, at least to me, most villains this campaign are painfully boring. But the Weave Mind are also boring. That was fine, M9 handled it perfectly and I loved it. Ludinus is arguably the only kinda interesting bad guy and a PC's mom is in mortal danger and I can't manage to care.
I don't find Ludinus and the Weave Mind boring! I don't find Liliana boring either! And I found Ozo Cruth and Otohan Thull DREADFULLY boring but actually, the fights with them are pretty fucking great. I mean, I have a LOT of criticism about the first Otohan fight that boils down to "this was EXCEPTIONALLY poorly signaled and I'd be PISSED if my character was killed for someone else's arc at this point in the story" but Otohan being boring is about the non-combat elements; she felt very real and compelling as a THREAT, just, she could have been a giant blender of magic knives that the party was going to be dumped in for all she had an impact on the story as a person. But I do think it is because we've seen the Mighty Nein and Vox Machina recently and remembered that they're orders of magnitude more compelling.
I think it's really like...I don't even want to say Bells Hells isn't bonded, but they lack something. I think I alluded to it in the tags of one of my posts but there's no banter between party members or sense of urgency. Like, I enjoyed the whole All-Minds-Burn/Myceit scenes a lot, actually, but after Imogen's initial (justified) panic the pacing felt unbelievably slow until we got to combat. I have found that really, for a good deal of the campaign, you have to kind of take things episode by episode and enjoy the good set pieces and scenes because it simply does not make for a pleasing and rewarding whole. The reason I didn't care about Liliana is, to be fair, partly because I think having her die would be an interesting development, but also because there wasn't a sense of "we can't stop and fuck around with mushrooms, LILIANA IS DYING" within the episode itself. No one was comforting Imogen as they ran through the tunnels. The Mighty Nein showed more personality and investment in the lead up to a fight that really, they had no more stake in other than the broad world-ending ones. As someone who's been playing a LOT of Veilguard which is all about building a close-knit team, and who's had VM and the Nein the past month to compare Bells Hells with, that lack is immediately apparent.
I said, over a year ago (possibly over two, I don't recall) now about one of the relationships in the campaign that it felt like when I see a single episode from a soap opera I don't follow. The actors are imbuing lines with emotion, but everything feels kind of disconnected. Like, this is all in a deeply subjective realm, I cannot give you a strong argument based on logic here as it's very much vibes-based, but I feel like when I watched this, my thought process was "BAFTA-winning Actor Laura Bailey is doing an excellent job of conveying the emotions 'terror and anguish over a dying relative' in this line read, and not "Imogen Temult, a character I've been familiar with since October 2021, is devastated over the potential demise of her mother.' " And I never had that issue with C1 and C2. Like, you can call it je ne sais quoi or the juice or the sauce or chemistry or the spark or whatever the fuck but Campaign 3/Bells Hells simply doesn't seem to have it for a huge number of people who have adored pretty much every other Critical Role work, and that means something. My personal thought is that it's because this has been such a plot-focused campaign without strong DM prepping of what kind of characters would be appropriately invested that we've had the problems we did (rampant indecision, lack of party chemistry due to lack of early opportunities to mingle and meld, lack of investment in each others' lives due to insufficient time focused on backstory-related plotlines), but I could be wrong, and ultimately the root cause isn't super important to this question, which is just. they don't have the it factor.

how i've finished inktober every year for eight years and counting
Every time I mention around other artists that I finish inktober every year (meaning I draw and ink 31 drawings, one every day in October), I get questions like "how???", so I figured I'd make a post about it on the off chance it's helpful to someone. Please note that all my advice is based on my personal experience and you're a different person so what works for me may not work for you, and you can do whatever you want forever.
What it boils down to for me is two basic rules: 1) keep it simple and 2) manage your expectations.
Tools
Paper/sketchbook
I started my first inktober in my journal at the time, and because I'm neurotic like that, I've had to do every subsequent inktober in whatever journal I was using at that point.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f300838780c274787272c1e7a0cbe935/6c46d3eec7733ca7-52/s540x810/ef06e50675a7b2cf60027d4219f093a7fb1b9efd.jpg)
The benefit of this is that each journal has had a page size of A5 or smaller, which can be tricky when trying to get in a lot of detail, but on the other hand forces you to limit the size of your drawings to a pretty managable size.
Paper type can also be important! Last year in 2023, my journal was a Moleskine sketchbook (image 1), which was actually designed to handle some degree of wet media, which was a game-changer for me as an ink wash enjoyer. Don't get me wrong, I've been using ink washes in most of my previous journals as well, but inking is a lot nicer when your paper isn't constantly buckling (image 2) or pilling and the ink isn't bleeding all over the place, inclunding through the page (image 3). Pages that stay flat instead of buckling are also a lot easier to scan or photograph, if like me you want to post your art online.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/1dec15e778debed6a2d6f2dfa66a0c70/6c46d3eec7733ca7-6b/s540x810/21c23ff2374607f81bd6bcbab4700d29907bdd85.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b6942e0490d5e95f3c41e85e09c81888/6c46d3eec7733ca7-4f/s540x810/f6abfa63f286ecc9bc308b5157d4993297b8326a.jpg)
In short, my inktober paper recommendation is to use a sketchbook no larger than A5, and go for one with nice, thick paper if you intend to use wet media.
Sketching
I sketch everything with a single 6H pencil that I got from my brother in 2019. Because the lead is so hard, it allows me to scribble to my heart's content without the sketch getting too dark or hard to erase. Sometimes I'll refine the sketch with a HB mechanical pencil, which shows up really nicely on top of the 6H lines, but I may skip that step if I'm feeling lazy or the first sketch is clean enough.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ea3ab5db04ca8d55856dd0014a19e91f/6c46d3eec7733ca7-b3/s540x810/8fbc9747f7015f96d1e74ab32b93ab55609b3fa9.jpg)
Inking
I've used a variety of art supplies in my inktober drawings. For the most part I've always stuck to greyscale, with the exception of a couple of red or gold accents some years.
My main inktober tools are a set of Micron fineliners in various sizes, and liquid India ink, which I use with a dip pen and with brushes. I usually mix up a mid-tone ink wash in a small bottle, and use that throughout the month.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e1ef6bafcb38d0f822a8b3c6838e5e5a/6c46d3eec7733ca7-da/s540x810/a75ca0b3d09f3e2e6b99bd4a786510230753248a.jpg)
Fineliners pros: portable, require minimal setup, can use on the sofa or in bed or wherever Fineliners cons: creating texture and filling large areas is a lot more time-consuming. In 2021 I did inktober exclusively in fineliner because I was tired and couldn't be bothered to deal with liquid ink, but I ended up spending more time than maybe ever on the drawings because it took so long to add texture with pens.
Ink pros: you can achieve small details with a dip pen as well as quick texture and fill in large areas with a brush and ink washes Ink cons: can be messy (protip from 2022 Liekki, don't spill ink water all over your laptop), usually you have to sit at a table of some kind, you need to wash your brushes and dip pens, if your paper isn't designed for wet media, it'll buckle or bleed
Pick your inking tools and techniques based on how much time you have!
Prompts/ideas/subject matter
I've always stuck to the "official" prompt list, because it brings me joy to scroll through the tag of the day on instagram and see how others interpreted the same prompt. Or, rather, it used to bring me joy to do this, until instagram's enshittification stole our ability to look at tags. Maybe I'll have some luck with that on Cara going forward; here's hoping.
As for ideas, sometimes they come easy, sometimes it's like pulling teeth and I have to enlist all my friends to brainstorm with me (sorry, y'all). When in doubt, draw the first thing that comes to mind when you read the prompt; don't overthink it (like I often do). I like to try to come up with a less obvious interpretation of a prompt, but this is also where I often get stuck and have to harass my loved ones for ideas. Sometimes it helps to relate the prompt to a tv show/book/etc. you're into; I've done quite a bit of inktober fanart, as well as art of various DnD cahracters from games I've played/DM'd. If all else fails, just look at what everyone else is drawing that day.
Time management
Be realistic about how much time you have in a day to work on inktober, and then set your expectations accordingly. If you only have an hour, stick to a size and level of detail that you can realistically finish in an hour. I've done some very quick scribbles in my years of inktober when I've been busy that day.
My personal philosophy is that I try not to plan too much ahead; I don't do any sketching until day of, and ideally I don't try to come up with ideas for a prompt or at least decide on an idea until the day before at the earliest. Containing each drawing in one day helps me have realistic expectations of what's doable. This does mean drawing late into the night sometimes after procrastinating or struggling to find an idea all day, but it's what works for me.
If your goal is to complete inktober, it's better to do a small shitty drawing in ten minutes than to fall behing by starting something way too ambitious that you'll never be able to finish in a day.
Secret third rule!
Accept the fact that you aren't going to be happy with every drawing.
Inktober was created as an exercise to practice inking. Think of your drawings as sketches, not finished masterpieces. Some of them will be bad, at least in your own eyes. Sometimes you'll put a lot of effort into something that just doesn't work out. For example:
To quote Joe Hills, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is the definition of practice. So you fucked up today's drawing. Tomorrow is a new day – that's the beauty of inktober. "Ever tried, ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better." (Samuel Beckett) Progress isn't linear, either; some years are consistently mediocre, other years it's all over the place with a couple bangers and a couple really shitty ones.
Every inktober I've made drawings I love,
drawings I'm indifferent to,
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e5dfbbef88ca69c4caa1ae52d6c9776b/6c46d3eec7733ca7-77/s540x810/ed3cb7941c9683f40f7b239476f0c0c1ee581bef.jpg)
and drawings that straight up suck.
And I'm at peace with that.
Thanks for reading what turned into a pretty long post, and I hope some of it was helpful. Happy inktobering!

Why do you like Max? He was horrible to Checo, the way his family spoke about him was so awful, I can't understand how Checo fans can like this guy
Oh anon, this is a very complicated question, because like many Checo fans in 2022, I also hated Max back then.
But it will be a long, long, LONG rant, so click under if you want to enter this particular rabbit hole:
Before they were teammates, Max was just another driver in my radar (as you are asking for my PoV, which is clouded as a Checo fan), nothing to notice there except a few interaccions with Checo; I was very surprised in Turkish 2020 because I thought Max would go for blood when Checo made him spin around twice (minute 1:20 of this video). But nope, at the end they even chatted and everything (a small Chestappen seed was planted since Monza 2017 and it had been growing with these interactions).
Anyway, when Checo became Max teammate, the contract was clear: He was there to succeed in what other teammates failed: helping Max winning the championship and take the heat of the team.
And he did, during 2021 they were working hard for that championship, and bonded really well, they seemed to get along great, share some sort of weird sense of humor and they were really nice to each other.
But in 2022, Checo thought that since he already fulfilled the requirement for 2021, he could fight for the championship in 2022. That led to straining the relationship with Max, and all that tension boiled over in Brazil. It was messy, and yes, Max was an asshole back then because they weren't fighting for the podium, and Checo needed the points. But what came after was the worst part because the declarations from both Checo and Max, and the Max's mom getting involved with the cheating thing... honestly I don't know how they managed to finish the season without killing each other.
Most Checo fans said that Max tried to make up with Checo in the 2022 Honda Racing Thanks day thing; all I noticed was Checo with the fakest smile he could put for the cameras. PR to the bone. I mean, they had Marc Márquez there to be a buffer, along with Yuki and Pierre, you could see it in the pictures:
They had Marc there to keep Max chatty:
You could see how far apart they were in the group picture (far apart for what they have us accustomed to):
(they left space for Jesus)
Also Max said he would help Checo in the last race of the season, but that was just adding salt to the wound.
Checo had just renewed contract, so we thought he would get the boot because obviously RBR was keeping Max, the one expendable was (and is) Checo. For some reason, they decided instead of doing that, to try and smooth over the situation. Checo apologized for his statements to the press and said it was all good with Max, and they had couples therapy.
No, really, they hired a 'mediator' or something like that, to help them regain the camaraderie of 2021. But instead, they fell in love and got really close. However, RBR had their plan B, bringing Ricciardo as the third driver in case things didn't work out (in fact, this is why we thought Checo was out of the team for 2023, we were looking options, seeing which teams needed drivers... wild times).
So, when Max did the Brazil thing, obviously Checo fans hated him and wanted his head, I remember people not even in the F1 fandom hating him (still butthurt about the world cup and the 'no era penal' thing). I particularly thought it was a dick move, but also kind of understood where Max was coming from. He was raised for glory, totally different to Checo who practically raised himself since he was 15. Checo and Max families are also vastly different, and the culture as well. So I hated him but not really?
So during 2023 I saw Max changing and being more mature, calmer, softer sometimes. He wasn't a bad person, he just made mistakes like any human does, and the pressure people put on him was insane! To me, Checo and Max balance each other really well, which is why they could work things out. If Checo could move on and be friendly with Max, I'm sure that we, as his fans, can do the same.
I like Max because he's genuine, and he learns from his mistakes. He is a little crass when provoked, but in general he is a nice guy; I don't know if you believe the whole 'Max is faking caring' that most haters say (they imply Max hates Checo and just tolerates him because he's forced), but I do believe Max can't fake this much this long.
Anyway, as usual, I went overboard with this, sorry anon, I wanted to give you context about why I like Max, and then filled this with my ramblings.
You can dislike Max anon, that's fine, just don't be hateful or claim to know better than them. Only Checo and Max know how is their relationship, but if Checo seems okay with him, that's all good in my book.
I think I haven't rambled this long in a while 😅

ok but fr I hope none of the letter writers feel personally responsible for this just because Wayne didn’t just say “I took being told I did a racist thing as being accused of being Racist and had a knee jerk reaction to that, sorry” and then also acknowledging that taking the pizza tower sponsorship in the first place was bad and they are sorry. Don’t try to explain why you did it, don’t try to backtrack it, just say “we realize now that this was a bad thing and we will do better in the future” and then actually fucking do it.
im sorry that some loud and vitriolic bigots have given you grief and given them big heads.
I hope they’re undergoing a lot of reflection while writing that statement. and maybe deciding they shouldn’t be allowed to respond to fan messages of concern in the discord until you’ve had a proper moment to digest everything and think that you may be wrong this time and not everybody is a parasocial pseudofan out to get you. It ain’t 2021 anymore my dudes
Also “this isn’t us” okay whatever. Maybe the appropriate thing to say would be “this has been us and it’s not okay and it’s reached a boiling point and things are going to change from now on”
#rtvs#rtvs has been so intense about avoiding parasocial relationships#granted they boomed in popularity right next to the dream smp which was just about the worst of the worst in that regard#but it means that a lot of them seem they’re somehow above controversy without realizing#they’re VERY popular. they’re public figures and they have a duty to act as such#and they’re at the point where they can still talk to fans in their own discord great#but that just means that when a well meaning fan comes to them with concern they need to be open to that rather than brushing it off becaus#‘I can’t be racist I did this and this and this’#but you are a group of predominantly white people in America and Canada and that comes with#an entire society built off of racism and discrimination#and we are all unlearning it but when mistakes are made#even if it’s with a company like fan gamer that you’ve worked with in good faith before#you need to be willing to understand when you’ve made a mistake#and the way rtvs handles their fanbase right now has them thinking they are above all criticism

My blog is my safe space

When I joined this community back in August, I was excited to share my love for shifting and manifesting. I was so happy because I had been a shifter since 2021 and I was so very lonely in my journey. I couldn't talk about shifting or the law of assumption with anyone in my life, and we all know TikTok is a boiling pot of misinformation, drama, and virtue signalling so I didn't want to be there anymore.
So when I stumbled upon Tumblr's shifting community, I was overjoyed. It was so refreshing, so alive, that I forgot some people can be assholes regardless of the platform.
I wasn't planning on being an anonymous blog. I picked a name that reflected my passions and started posting without expectations. I never thought my anonymity would cause a stir. In the past, I had no qualms about sharing aspects of my spirituality and my craft on my main channels, and despite the backlash, I never let negativity turn me away from what I love. So having a faceless, anonymous account wasn't intentional.
But something changed along the way.
So let me address those two screenshots above.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6e7d39d479be039afae2936b4b6f1f15/ef35cb1855409454-11/s540x810/a3e668c032c0ffaa332474aefdd3a4133d4ae8f1.jpg)
I closed my ask box because it was draining. Yes I loved answering questions (even though most were repetitive) and I enjoyed helping as much as I could because that was the point of this blog! But what you didn't see, what I spared you from knowing, was the hate I was getting. Anonymous people telling me to off myself, calling me names, instructing me to 🔪 my wrists... It began to suck the life out of me, so I decided to prioritise my mental health.
Which brings me to the second screenshot:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8ef9c918f56938a07584b7983f4f4875/ef35cb1855409454-7d/s540x810/4cae4dfb0a175b31b60d124e430f11f93d9a8efb.jpg)
I posted two videos on TikTok (with an ai filter on) where I talked about the latest controversy (because I was too lazy and too agitated to type my thoughts out instead) and it pissed someone off. I never claimed to be an expert in shifting. No one is an expert, no matter how long you have been shifting, you still have a lot to learn. I simply gave an opinion about an absurd matter that I believed would discourage new shifters and set them back. But apparently, because I don't want to show my face (so the bullying wouldn't shift from Tumblr to TikTok) my opinion is irrelevant and I don't know what I'm talking about?
I knew when I first started that both shifting and the law of assumption were controversial, and that by sharing my thoughts and experiences I was opening myself up to potential hate and bullying. I still know that now, and it changes nothing. I'm still going to shift, I'm still going to manifest. I'm still going to share my journey and help anyone who seeks me out. I'm still going to be anonymous because I don't care how much you want to see my face (I'm hot, I know!) I value my privacy and my mental health way more than some strangers' curiosity.
If you believe a faceless account has no merit, please feel free to unfollow, mute, or block me. Do whatever you think is best.
As for the rest of you, don't forget to drink your water! Stay hydrated, keep up with your skincare routine, and tune in every once in a while so I can tell you about the latest developments on my shifting journey.
Endless love,
Your favourite shifting witch ❤️
