When I sit at the front porch of our Cape house, in the sunshine and sea-freshened air, I think of them often: my parents and my brothers and sisters, all departed now save for Jean and myself. And each alive and vibrant in my memory. I remember how each of us, distinct and autonomous from one another though we were, melded wholeheartedly into a family, a self-contained universe of love and deepest truths that could not be comprehended by the outside world.
true compass, ted kennedy .

“We in the United States believe in the protection of minorities; we recognize the contributions that they can make and the leadership that they can provide; and we do not believe that any people - whether majority or minority, or individual human beings - are 'expendable' in the cause of theory or of policy.” - Robert F. Kennedy Sr

“Jackie, surely as much as Jack, helped make the magic we called Camelot. But when an assassins bullets shattered the dream, she showed the world that there was an unimagined strength beneath the silk. Her courage, her dignity, her grave restraint in the face of such horror held this nation together and showed us how to grieve.”
- Hugh Sidney

John was starting to form a relationship with Carolyn’s sisters, especially with Lauren. Lauren had just moved back from Hong Kong and bought an apartment on White Street in Tribeca, around the corner from John and Carolyn, a big loft. She was dating Bobby Shriver—it was a long-distance thing because Bobby was in L.A. She was a VP at Morgan Stanley—her office was across the street from George. We were around the same age, and we became friends. We’d go out for drinks, and when people would ask, “What do you do?” she’d answer, “I work at a bank.” I asked, “Why do you say it like you’re a teller?” - JFK JR Oral Biography

Note
Anthony Shriver put out that letter “supporting people with autism” which is wild because he was the only cousin openly supporting RFK jr. The hypocrisy is astounding. Like did he think people wouldn’t remember this?
i'd personally like to speak with whoever decided to name rfk jr after his father because my good friend bobby doesn't deserve to have his legacy tainted with this type of ugliness!

JFK nicknamed his sister-in-law, Joan Kennedy, ”The Dish” in 1960.
“Most people don’t know it, but in 1960 that expression was quite a compliment … especially coming from Jack Kennedy.”
Who did he first say the nickname to, Ted?
“No, he said it to me! And then, later, to the Senator.”
I bet he was happy about that?
“Oh yes, quite proud.”
Did you have a favorite brother in law?
“If I did, I wouldn’t tell you. They were so different. There was something about Jack. Both were very nice to me. That’s the important thing, isn’t it?”
