New side brew 😁 - this time I'm trying tulsi (or holy basil) for F1.
It has an interesting flavour. Tulsi is part of the mint family, but it's probably closer to a cloves in taste? And it has a bit of a natural sweetness to it too (which made gauging when it was ready for F2 a little tricky).
Initially, I wasn't sure if I liked it, but it's really grown on me.
Tumblr media
Mango (250g) Lemon (40ml) Mint (5g)
Blueberry (250g) Lemon (40ml) Mint (5g)
I went snooping online for tulsi tea recipes, and heaps of them included mint and lemon, so I figured that was a good place to start with flavours
Tumblr media
Both turned out great, but Mango was definitely the winner. There's something about the tulsi and mango flavours that really compliment each other.
I decided to carry the side brew on for one more batch, this time using a 50/50 tulsi & green tea blend.

for the ask game: blue or ronan and drink of choice
Ronan — well based on canon his drinking problem is referenced quite a bit but not usually a specific drink, I did some quick searching in a couple of pdfs and he’s mentioned drinking beer a couple times when it is specified but who knows if that’s his favorite or just what’s available.. then again it would be kind of on brand for Ronan who could afford more expensive alcohol to still have beer as his favorite. Or he could be choosing beer deliberately to further the self harm could see that also.
— for non alcoholic drink it’s obviously orange juice. obviously.
Blue — I don’t think she drinks much but I could see her sampling some kombucha that her Aunts definitely brew sometime so like, jasmine kombucha or something we’ll say as her favorite alcoholic drink that sounds right.
— for regular drinks we know she’s partial to that mint tea teehee (I love the scene where Calla teases her about that.), but she strikes me as a smoothies and iced teas girl generally. In fact could see her really enjoying mixing different fruits and vegetables in home created smoothies (I also hc her as having some sensory issues so like the clothing that she makes/calibrates textures of herself could see her wanting to make these herself so she knows she’ll like the texture/taste). For flavor hmm, I feel like even though she’d make some involved combinations her actual favorite might be something pretty simple. It might even be blueberry lol.

National Blueberry Cheesecake Day
Try making your own blueberry cheesecake, or visit a bakery or restaurant to enjoy this cheesy, sweet, tangy graham cracker-crusted treat.
There isn’t much in life that people love more than the rich, tangy flavor of an indulgent cheesecake. Life can be so much sweeter when everyone has the opportunity to be introduced to blueberry cheesecake!
A crumbly graham cracker or cookie crust with a rich cheesy base is topped with a blueberry syrup and then capped with fresh blueberries. This might just be the only thing that could possibly be better than the New York original!
National Blueberry Cheesecake Day was established to ensure that people everywhere know how incredible this dessert is and are given the permission they need in order to celebrate appropriately.
This holiday is a great chance for anyone and everyone to try it for themselves and pass the message on to friends and family!
History Of National Blueberry Cheesecake Day
The origins of the cheesecake can be traced back as far as Ancient Greece, when the first recipes for this cake were put into writing. In the centuries that followed, the dessert would undergo countless changes until it developed into what we know (and love) it to be today.
As different countries embraced this dish, and differing ingredients were more easily available, regional varieties came to be. Different combinations of cheese would often be used depending on the particular location, but the love of the cheesecake itself was certainly universal!
When it comes to cheesecake, cream cheese is the favored primary ingredient in America, while Italian recipes seem to prefer ricotta as a base. In addition, there is a special kind of curd cheese known as “quark” that is used in cheesecakes throughout Poland and Germany.
As these recipes came to be localized, new innovations were being made by the bakers who developed them. One of these new ideas included the addition of fruit to the cheesecake, and the best of all (of course!) was the enticing and delicious blueberry!
Of course, blueberries are delicious in their own right. Native to North America, blueberries were originally called “star berries” by the Native Americans who inhabited the lands prior to the Europeans. Blueberries are an extremely healthy fruit that is called a “superfood”, due to its high concentration of vitamins and antioxidants. Adding these yummy berries to the top of a cheesecake probably doesn’t make them healthier, but it certainly makes them tasty!
In addition to the standard options, there are a number of variations of blueberry cheesecake–as if the original wasn’t good enough! Some of the interesting variations include chocolate blueberry cheesecakes, blueberry mint cheesecakes and even blueberry cheesecakes made with kombucha!
The inventiveness of the cheesecake lover seems to know no limits, which is certainly a benefit to those who are eating it. National Blueberry Cheesecake Day is the perfect opportunity to explore them all!
How to Celebrate National Blueberry Cheesecake Day
For people who love all things related to cheesecake and blueberries, this is going to be an absolute favorite holiday to celebrate, whether on their own or with family and friends! Eating a piece of traditional blueberry cheesecake is only just the beginning.
Try celebrating National Blueberry Cheesecake Day in one of these ways, or come up with other ideas:
Try Making a Blueberry Cheesecake
While traditional, baked cheesecakes come with their own set of challenges in making them, very many shortcut recipes are now available online–and a variety of them do not even require use of the oven!
For an easy no-bake blueberry cheesecake, mix crushed graham crackers or butter cookies with melted butter and sugar to create a crust. Press into a pie pan or cake pan. Then beat milk, powdered sugar, vanilla and cream cheese to create the filling. Add a bit of lemon juice as desired. Spread on top of the graham cracker crust and then top with premade, canned blueberry pie filling. Refrigerate and enjoy!
Host a Blueberry Cheesecake Event
By gathering together a large group of friends, anyone can enjoy a full range of blueberry cheesecakes. Encourage guests to bake and bring their own variety.
Don’t forget that different varieties of the blueberry bush are available too! It would be possible to try it with the rabbiteye blueberry, or the northern highbush blueberry. Each of these varieties brings their own flavor to the table, creating a unique twist on a basic blueberry cheesecake.
Turn it into a charity event by holding a tasting contest and then auctioning off or selling individual pieces of the blueberry cheesecakes to the crowd.
Try a New Variety of Blueberry Cheesecake
Don’t let National Blueberry Cheesecake Day pass by without sampling all the amazing varieties of this cake that the world has to offer. Most people will be delighted and amazed at just how many ways it can be prepared and enjoyed!
Consider these ideas for a new take on this favorite classic dessert:
Add to the fun by using lemon zest and lemon juice in the recipe to give a little pop of tangy flavor.
For a truly Italian flare, add a little bit of honey to the graham cracker crust and then pile fresh mint and fresh blueberries on top of the cheesecake.
Instead of an actual cheesecake, try blueberry cheesecake muffins! Simply make a normal blueberry muffin recipe, but add a dollop of sweetened cream cheese in the middle and then bake. It’s a delicious way to enjoy a variation of blueberry cheesecake without even needing a fork!

Kombucha Market Size Worth $9.70 Billion By 2030
The global kombucha market size is expected to reach USD 9.70 billion by 2030, according to a new report by Grand View Research, Inc. Furthermore, the market is expected to expand at a 15.6% CAGR from 2022 to 2030. The market has reported rapid growth in recent years and has caught consumers’ attention recently, as kombucha is considered to be a functional beverage. Growing consumer awareness of functional beverages has escalated the demand for kombucha. The product has grown into a commercial product in the U.S. and several companies are producing it, and the variety of kombuchas is increasing rapidly.
Kombucha has gained immense popularity in recent times due to various associated health benefits. The therapeutic effects of this beverage are thought to be derived from its chemical composition, mainly the polyphenols and secondary metabolites, which are produced during fermentation. Kombucha is considered a potential beverage and has replaced the consumption of carbonated beverages due to its possession of health benefits and therapeutic properties. The product has gained popularity in the U.S., China, Russia, Germany, and the Middle Eastern countries, and is produced on a large scale for consumption.
The conventional kombucha segment accounted for the dominant share of the global revenue in 2021. The growing availability of conventional kombucha in flavors of fruits and herbs, such as ginger, lemon, blueberry, raspberry, strawberry, lime, mint, and mango, is driving the product demand. With the current trend of growing cannabidiol (CBD) application in the U.S. food industry, some market players are launching CBD-infused kombucha in the market, thus driving the product demand.
The off-trade segment is expected to grow with a higher CAGR during the forecast period. Several brands are using proprietary filtration and encapsulation technologies that allow probiotic bacteria to survive pasteurization and survive at room temperatures, to make it suitable for kombucha to be kept on non-refrigerated shelves in supermarkets. These technologies are being employed by non-alcoholic (less than 5% alcohol) and alcoholic kombuchas like Flying Embers to make products sustain for a more extended period.
The market for kombucha is highly competitive and dominated by large multinational manufacturing companies. These companies face intense competition, especially from the top players in the kombucha industry, as they have a large consumer base, strong brand recognition, and vast distribution networks.

The hard kombucha segment is expected to advance at a higher CAGR during the forecast period, as they are preferred by consumers who enjoy non-alcoholic beverages such as premium crafted cocktails with low-ABV content
The on-trade segment accounted for a larger share of the global revenue in 2021, owing to the increasing consumption of kombucha in classic cocktails through premium bars, cafés, restaurants, and hotels

Did Alrick have a difficult time while his tongue was healing in terms of movement or eating? What does he eat now? You say he misses tasting food is there anything in particular he wishes he could still taste?.
I imagine he did. It is such a big injury, even when mouth related injuries tend to heal a lot faster than others. I'd imagine he was free to go to a workplace healthcare as often as needed during the healing time. Not to mention that while Dio doesn't mess around, he dropped Alrick off to the hospital right after his payment.
Humans are versatile and learn to cope with their disabilities if there's nothing that can fix it. Alrick is the same. I think Alrick has learned to eat pretty well almost anything, except food that's sticky and gets easily stuck into teeth.. I imagine he'd need to cut his food into small pieces and take small bites. Soups, yogurts, ice-cream, smoothies etc. are the easiest to eat and I think he might prefer those.
He CAN taste bitter and sour, though. That much is left from his tongue. I actually checked what foods are sour and bitter and which Alrick should be able to taste at least partially, if not fully:
Blueberry | Currants | Grapefruit | Kefir | Kimchi | Kombucha | Baby pickles | Rhubarb | Sauerkraut | Sour cream | Yogurt | Coffee | Artichoke | Dark chocolate | Sour melon | Lemon | Chicory | Brussels Sprouts | Dandelion leaves | Eggplant | Dill | Kale | Mint | Saffron | Ginger | Sesame Seeds
Just to mention a few and behold: They're all suitable for vegetarian diet! No wonder Alrick told me he's vegetarian because he chose so - it contains stuff he can taste :3
I don't know if he misses anything particular taste. Perhaps he tells us some day :3

Room 39 on 39th Street, Kansas City
Croque Madame, Daily Culture Blueberry and Mint Kombucha - $13.00 & $5.50
I was gestured to by the bartender and was asked to sit on the open end due to a reservation for the three stools closest to the door. From here I was able to see the entirety of the restaurant and even a small portion of the kitchen, both viewable at once due to a large mirror hanging at the end of the connecting hallway. There were full tables available, but no single chairs, and so I didn’t ask them to waste any space for me.
The interior is sparsely decorated, with some of the old fresco ceiling you see in a lot of the downtown buildings slightly aging and, above me, broken away to reveal a Chiefs Super Bowl win era newspaper being used as insulation. The wall is plastered, with a large portion either broken away or eroded and then cleaned to expose the interior brickwork. This is one of those hippie-fusion type restaurants for sure.
The menu affirms this, with offerings of kombucha and fresh shrubs, but some of the advanced trappings are put away - the water is tap, the micro-greens conspicuously lacking. The menu is decidedly meat-heavy for breakfast, with a decent enough selection of vegetarian options. The waiters are in shorts and pants and t-shirts and one puffy blouse. I order the croque madame and confuse the brand “Daily Culture” to mean they make their own kombucha. The can comes to me with a glass of ice and a blue and white-striped paper straw, the drink removes the (in my opinion pleasant) fermented tang with an infusion of blueberry and mint. It claims to be organic, raw, and locally-canned, and I would recommend it easily without the restaurant up-charge.
I had a good time with my beverage, but I would avoid the brunch cocktails. Like a lot of these places the drinks are meant to be made quickly and cheaply, the up-charge carrying the kitchen on its back. I watch from the bar as a translucent mint cocktail has water added to it from the sink, and again as 360 vodka and Zing Zang are garnished up to make a $9 drink. I am unsure of their merit as a pure bar experience - they are open nights as I’m aware - but I believe you could get greater cocktail quality at SoT, or even across the street at Goat & Rabbit.
The meal comes after a prolonged wait - maybe not in linear time so much as I am feeling the awkwardness of eating alone and rubbing elbows with the staff as they pass to reach behind the bar. The ham is very rich, smoky and salty, and the toast has a sesame-seeded top that adds a more interesting texture to the open-faced sandwich. The first few bites near the edge are bread-heavy and bland. In the middle I learn the eggs on top are salted, which combined with the ham brings you up to a saltiness that just borders, but doesn’t cross into, astringency. This is served with breakfast potatoes, which in this case are breaded and oven-baked, I believe, with green onion garnish. Due to their size, the inside is scalding hot and bland. I would reach for the hot sauce or ketchup for these, and I did. But overall, the plate was very filling and I greatly enjoyed something that wasn’t afraid of being stronger, though even a few hours later I feel the salt on my tongue.
This meal was just under $25 after tax and tip, and since I try restaurants alone as a way to bring people out to them later, I’m not sure I can easily recommend Room 39 based on price. Most entrees on the menu are around the $13 mark, but ordering even a single cocktail can easily make your bill graze $30 for one. I would say I’m more of a home-style type, and perhaps I would have better enjoyed some biscuits and gravy or a pancake breakfast, but I think the competition is pretty fierce for brunch. The market wants something that is reliably profitable and widely appealing, and most enjoy eggs and a boozy orange juice at least occasionally, if not on a regular basis. In that regard, I don’t think they’re doing anything out of the box, and I personally prefer Eggtc. on Main, which is more generous with the price and is equipped to serve you a latte. If you are the type who frequents Succotash, enjoying light fare and a marketed consideration for local sourcing, I could see you here.

Babe I'm blitzed I want all the teas and all the answers
BRING IT!!
1. Rosehip tea: Which book did you love when you were younger? Okay, I don’t know if anyone here remembers the Hank the Cowdog series. It was so wild. Hank is a mutt who lives on a ranch in Texas and acts like he’s the goddamn sheriff, but he gets into all these hilarious situations. He even has a “deputy” named Drover who is like the Barney Fife to his Andy Griffith. I’m probably dating myself here, but this was probably the first series that helped me have a sense of humor.
2. Oolong tea: Which book series could you read again? Probably Hank the Cowdog! LOL I mean, it would be interesting to read as an adult. I would also read the Time Quintet by Madaleine L’engle again, which I have. Yes, A Wrinkle in Time is the first book in quintet of books! Same characters, too! The book Many Waters is about the twins jumping back into time before the Great Flood and it’s my favorite one.
3. Rooibos: What is one of you favourite books? Oh man, I really can’t pick one. I love The Hobbit. Dune. All of Joe Hill’s books (The Fireman is sooo goood! Mr. Hill, please cast Philip Glenister as the Fireman if there’s a series of the book because he is a perfect fit and picturing him as such made the book even better). My favorite Seuss is “Horton Hatches the Egg.” It’s a lot of fun to read aloud, too. I could go on and on about my favorite books because I don’t have just one I love!
4. Strawberry tea: Tell me about your first kiss, if you had one. First cheek kiss was 3rd grade (8 years old) his name was Kyle. First one on the lips from my first boyfriend at 13 (omg boyfriend, that’s cute) and his name was Daniel and it was gross.
5. Apple tea: Tell me about your first break up, if you had one. It was Daniel because I wouldn’t give him a blow job...at 14...cuz I thought it was gross and I didn’t have a libido...cuz we were 14. Ew...
6. Earl Grey: Which countries have you visited? Only Canada. I went to Nova Scotia in 2018 and it was so the best time ever! I didn’t have time to go to Prince Edward Island or Cape Breton to hike. Next time! My goal is to go to a new country every year for holiday (if money is feasible then). I couldn’t last year because my aunt passed away and I wanted to be with my mom.
7. Chai: Where do you want to travel next? I would love to go to the UK but I would want to take off for a looonnnng time from work because I would probably be there for months haha. But as far as possibly a two-week journey, I’m not sure. Suggestions? :D
8. Darjeeling: What languages do you speak? English, Spanish, beginner Welsh
9. Hop tea: Do you have a favourite tea? Which one? Yessss! Earl Grey, baby! Oh, and Builder’s. Best tea for milk and sugar.
10. Herbal tea: Which person would you chose to travel the world with? I usually travel better alone because I like to pace myself, taking lots of pictures, writing in a journal, etc. I think if I were to travel with my mom or best friend, we kill each other.
11. Nettle tea: Are you jealous on a person? Why? Nah.
12. Ice tea: Do you miss somebody? Why? I miss my grandmother every day.
13. Yellow tea: What shampoo do you use? I...don’t remember?? I know it’s vegan and cruelty free and smells like mint.
14. Peppermint tea: What is your favourite gif at the moment? Well........
Tumblr media
15. Ceylon tea: Do you have a song you like, but have bad memories with? If I do, then I’ve repressed it.
16. Hibiscus tea: What is a song you can always hear? Juice by Lizzo
17. Flowering tea: What is a movie you can always watch? The Emperor’s New Groove is the top one.
18. Pu-erh tea: What is a book you can recommend to others? Anything by Joe Hill. Horns is good, Heart Shaped Box is a rock and roll ghost story, and NOS4A2 (don’t watch the series...it’s meh).
19. Turkish tea: What is your favourite cake? I have two!! Red Velvet and fuckingggggg strawberry with white buttercream icing oh fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
20. Green tea: What was the first movie you saw in a cinema? I remember going to see Bambi when I was 4 and being traumatized. I think the cinema was showing it cuz it was an anniversary showing or something.
 21. Blueberry-Muffin tea: Tell me a memory, which makes you smile. Cooking as a kid with my grandma.
22. Panda tea: Do you have pets? Which one? I say that Lucy, my parents’ goldie, is my pup!
23. Butter tea: Show / Tell me about one thing i your room you find awesome. My bed...but of course ;)
 24. Hot chocolate: Do you have (a) stuffed animal(s) sitting in your room? Which one(s)? I have three on my bed. Snoopy, a grey owl I named Oskar, and a stuffed boa constrictor I call Cupcake.
25. 24 flavors: What is your favourite word? Biiiitch
26. Jasmin tea: Can you draw / paint? Wanna show me something? I am no artist.
27. Kombucha: What do you order on a pizza? Mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes.
28. Cloud tea: Which movie do you want to watch next? Midsommar!! I never saw it in the cinema so I may just buy it. I would love to see Queen and Slim but it’s a limited release in Portland (not surprised). And any horror movie that looks worth the time.
29. Gunpowder tea: If you had the chance: would you go to space? Yes, my bags have been packed since I was 10. Let’s go.
30. Matcha: Bonus question of you choice! I might answer…  I’m not sure what this means??

RAW VEGAN BLUEBERRY CHEEZECAKE by @cheftinabarrat! 😋💚😋💚 When I discovered raw food in 2014, I learnt that cheesecakes could be made dairy-free and egg-free. This opened up an entire whole new world for me as I was allergic to eggs and yet I loved cheesecakes. I no longer had to resist eating traditional cheesecakes and could make and enjoy the raw vegan versions instead. Tmr bakery au notes
Newt self consciously dusting his hands on his apron as he enters Thomas's kitchen, not wanting to get flour residue anywhere, mouth turning down in a small moue as flour puffs up from his apron anyway
THOMAS REMOVING STERILIZED JARS FROM VATS OF BOILING WATER AND NEWT CAUGHT BY THE FLEX OF MUSCLE IN HIS FOREARMS AS HE USES THE TONGS TO DEFTLY LIFT EACH JAR AND SRT IT ASIDR
NEWT SMELLING LIKE FRESH BREAD AND WARMTH AND HOME FUCK ME UP
THOMAS NOT EVEN BOTHERING WITH HELLO WHEN NEWT WALKS INTO THE SHOP, JUST GRABBING HIM BY THE ARM AND TUGGING HIM BEHIND THE COUNTER, REACHING INTO A SMALL JAR "you gotta try this"
"Try wha-"
Newt can't get the words out bc thomas's fingeris in his mouth
THOMAS WOULD TASTE NEWTS BREAD AND TRY TO XOMPLIMENT HIM BUT NEWT WOULDNT UNDERSTSND BC HED BE TALKING WUTH HIS MOUTH FULL BYE
Newt bakes scones for the shop and ppl who bring a business card from minho get 10% off bread
Oh.
Thomas' shop could be called
the homespread
...I'll see myself out
It's dead here so imma still just yell abt this prompt bc i LOCE IT SO MCUH.
- newt waking up absurdly early to get the first rise going so his morning regulars get fresh sourdough
- their stores are on opposite sides of minho's coffee shop
- meetcute as they're both rushing to deliver orders to minho's shop
- just. The homebrew jam asthetic. Csnning labels. Packets of pectin littering the countertop (thomas doesn't necessarily like using it and would rather make a runny compote but the jam market is a mainstay of his business so.) Amazing aromas floating by as thomas experiments with flavours. Rosemary apple thyme. Spiced marmalade. Blueberry jam with fresh blueberries from thr fsrmers market that happens every sunday may to october.
- the abilitybto tell where newts been by the pattern of flour markings on the floor
- thomas blastinf little mix as he works
- newt preferring silence or soft music
- SUNLIGHT AND BAKED GOODS sob sob sob sob sob sob sob
- LOVE MAKES THINGS TASTE BETTER I DONT MAKE THE FACTS
Newt donates any baked goods he doesnt sell to charity at the end of each day
WHAT IF HE MSDE HONEY WHISKEY JAM INSPIRED BY NEWT'S EYES GOODFYCKING BYE
K but also ben and gally would be those people who whip up batches of blue cheese or wasabi ice cream in their spare time
- vince lost his wife mary in '82; they'd always talked about setting up a local farmer's market (her family are all farmers but she moved to the city for med school and wanted to reconnect w her roots)
- after mary died, vince was ready to live a life of solitude; but life had other olans and a few years later he met a friend, jorge, through work and his infant daughter brenda. Jorge learned about msry and convinced vince to convene a farmers market in memory of Mary
- jorge owns a local butchery and his stall was one of the first at the market in the early days, and he and Vince are basically brendas dads now
- brenda has taken over more of the butchery business so vince and jorge can ostensibly dedicate more time to tje market administration but actually she caught them kissing in vinces kitchen and theyre the worlds worst kept secret amd she wants to give them some alone time on sundays
- brendas specialty is sausages with her secret spice blend, which is why frypan, who works in a local restaurant as a cook, swears by her meats and will only buy from her. (The way to fry's heart is indeed through food and he and brenda flirt every time they meet amd they're just dancing around each other waiting to make the first move)
- newt and minho open their shops within the same year amd brenda is quick to invite them to set up stalls at the weekly market
- thomas arrives a few years later, with his jams. Brenda leaves a flyer for the market in his mailbox and they eventuslly become fast friends and she takes to selling his compotes at the butcher shop bc they really do pair excellently with some of the cuts
- thomas may be good at jam but he cant cook worth a damn and frypan gives him hell for it the first time thomas talks about messing up boxed mac n cheese
@faia loves foxlet "kombucha, more like kombewcha," thomas mutters darkly at gally's retreating back
Brenda wears baggy overalls and a trucker hat in this AU and no one can convince me otherwise
STAHP IM BLUSHINGNSKSKMDMDNDNF like dnw to flood but also it seems p quiet so like. I may continue shouting inti the void about sticky toffee pastries and how harriet would nesrly lose her entire cool watching sonya sculpt marvels out of wispy spun caramel
Ugh thomqs watching newt knead dough, pressibg into it firmly with the heel of his hand, shaping it with deft touches, twistung and pulling ti create fsncy braids im.Just.
Thomas using minho and newt as taste testers. He comes into minho's shop one day while minho's on his break and newt's lingering after dropping off fresh scones.
"Try this," he says, pulling a small glass jar out of his bag.
Minho frowns. "That looks like snot."
"Shut up," thomas says, unscrewing the lid and shoving the concoction in his friend's face. "Taste."
Minho sticks a dubious finger in - so hygenic - and pops a dollop of the mint green substance in his mouth. Thomas watches, unable to suppress a triumphant smirk as minho's eyes widen. "So?" He prompts.
"Holy fuck," minho says, staring at the jar like it's worth its weight in gold. "That's good. Like, really good."
"You don't need to sound so surprised," thomas says, but laughter is already colouring his words as he turns and offers tje jar to newt.
Thomas enters newt's shop one day and heads strsight ti the kitchen as per usual. The noise of thr mixer drowns out the jingle of the door chime and newt doesn't look up from where he's kneading dough, apron a mess of dusty handprints and a smudge of flour on his jaw. Thomas leans agains the doorjamb and watches for a moment. Newt's back is mostly to him and he admires the long lines of him, the neat bow of the apron around a trim waist. He's humming under his breath as he works, a little off-key and all the more charming for it.
Newt turns the dough over one final time and sets it aside in a greased bowl which he covers with a handtowel. He turns and when he sees Thomas, the whole room lights up with the force of his grin.
"Hey Tommy."
Thomas works to unstick his throat. "Hey," he manages weakly, flashing what he hopes is a smile. His chest is suddenly alight with butterflies.
Dough is clearly not the only thing rising.
A one-woman channel flood? It's more likely than you think.
- minho as a coffee fanatic. Talking about pour-overs and the five elements of proper espresso. OMG there could be like a county fair and Thomas wants to enter his jams and win a prize so he can look good in front of Newt and win his flavour favour. But he gets so stressed about it ("shouldn't you cool it a bit?" Minho asks as thomas slams his fifth double espresso of the day.
Thomas doesnt seem to hear him. "Gotta go fast," he says.) that his jams turn out shit. Everything is despair.
But then, the next morning, a knock on his door. (Thomas isnt used to knocking. He and newt never knock; they just barge right into each others kitchens at this point. But this is his apartment.) He opens it and newt is there, a little uncertain but holding somethinf wrapprd in a teatowel. It's the best damn bread thomas has ever smelled. So he invites newt in and pushes the bitterness of the county fair down in his chest and they cut the bread (still warm). And its fucking delicious, the best thing thomas has ever tasted and he just looks at newt awestruck. "What's your secret?"
Newt actuslly blushes, mumbles something thomas doesnt catch. He leans forward. "What?"
"I said, things taste best when they're made with love." Newt is fully blushing now, the tips of his ears matching the gingham teatowel.
Thomas blinks. Surely he hadn't heard correctly. "Wait, you- oh. Oh."
