Okay that's a gawdawful STUPID feature on the glucometer I've been prescribed. It gives you the ability to tag a blood sugar reading as "before" or "after" a meal, which is useful because you have different acceptable blood sugar ranges depending on which of those periods you're in. But this can only be done immediately after the reading was taken. If, for whatever reason, you don't change it right then, it will automatically be designated as a before meal reading.
With absolutely no way to correct the mistaken tag.
Hello, stupid device much!?! What's even the point of this feature when it's so ridiculously easy to have entirely the wrong event tag associated with readings?? Signed, someone five tests in with all of them tagged as "before meal" when only two of them actually are.

Precision Medicine and IoT: Advancements in Personalized Healthcare - Technology Org
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/precision-medicine-and-iot-advancements-in-personalized-healthcare-technology-org/
Precision Medicine and IoT: Advancements in Personalized Healthcare - Technology Org
Precision medicine and technology together have the potential to completely transform healthcare. Using precision medicine techniques, patterns are found in patients with uncommon treatment responses or distinct medical needs. Artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge technologies allow the system to think and learn, develop insights through complex computing and inference, and enhance clinician decision-making.
When combined with smart gadgets like Internet of Things (IoT) medical technology, this enables medical practitioners to individually customize a patient’s course of care. According to recent research, translating this technology integration into ongoing research will help tackle precision medicine’s most challenging problems, particularly those where unique medical issues, when paired with patient symptoms, clinical history, and lifestyle data, will enable personalized diagnosis and prognostication.

IoT in Personalized Care
Advancements in medical technology have led to astounding developments in patient care. As little as two decades ago, patient treatment involved the sick person traveling to a physician’s office, undergoing rounds of tests and treatment at those locations, staying overnight in clinics to conduct rounds of lengthy testing, and a variety of other activities that were time-consuming and difficult for both the patient and the doctor. Now, thanks to IoT technology in healthcare, patients can undergo some testing, such as heart monitoring and sleep monitoring, at home with devices that connect to the Internet and send data in real-time to their physicians. Some ways in which the Internet of Things helps to personalize healthcare include:
Reducing waiting time by using telehealth and remote services connecting doctors and patients at their locations rather than require time to travel and wait in a doctor’s office.
At-home monitoring devices are now used for diagnosing disorders such as sleep apnea.
Using technology such as Near Field Communication (NFC) and Radio Frequency
Identification (RFID) technology to allow medical monitoring devices to interact with smartphones and mobile devices, sending alerts to the patient, such as a low blood sugar alert.
Cloud computing allows for apps such as MyChart, which allow patients to communicate via message with their doctors, view and share test results and medication lists with various providers.
Making use of IoT in healthcare through smart devices such as the Apple Watch for fall detection, medical alert monitoring, medication reminders, summoning emergency services, and heart rhythm monitoring.
IoT in Precision Medicine
Precision medicine, as defined by the Precision Medicine Initiative, is “an emerging approach for disease treatment and prevention that takes into account individual variability in genes, environment, and lifestyle for each person.” With this method, medical professionals and researchers will be able to more precisely forecast which preventative and treatment plans will be most effective for a certain disease in which populations in contrast to a one-size-fits-all approach ignores individual differences. Although it is a new term, it is not a new concept. For example, considering one of several personalized medicine examples, once medical providers realized that humans had several different blood types, treatment for blood transfusions was catered to the type of care a person with a particular blood type needed. Consider the following precision medicine examples:
Integrating artificial intelligence (A.I.) with machine learning models to aid in patient diagnosis, utilizing data from medical smart devices as it is collected.
Expand telemedicine, which enables patients to access timely healthcare remotely.
Wearable technology, such as smart watches with integrated health monitoring features that monitor chronic conditions and scan for any developing conditions, allows for early detection.
Improved patient care in medical facilities through IoT devices in hospitals and clinics that allow for easier and faster check-in, and assist in ongoing care.
Genetic Testing, Treatment and IoT
Genetic treatment, or cell-based therapy, has a wide variety of applications when paired with IoT-enabled hardware. With data collected from connected technological devices, physicians can monitor certain types of cancer developments, implement treatment through personalized application devices such as pumps or implants, or even enhance or suppress various bodily functions.
Genetic testing now allows medical providers to get a better idea of who might be most likely to develop certain chronic conditions, such as diabetes and high blood pressure, which then allows for precise and targeted monitoring of the individual through smart medical devices.
Remote Patient Monitoring
Medical monitoring is perhaps one of the most useful and powerful applications of IoT solutions for healthcare. As medical devices become smaller and more easily wearable, individuals can then make use of devices such as smartwatches to monitor their ongoing health and make note of any changes, many of which are often subtle and unnoticed in daily life, to determine worrisome patterns over time. Apps such as Apple’s Health app show trends over time collected by devices such as the Apple Watch, which continuously monitors heart rate, breathing, time spent sleeping, and a whole host of other useful features.
These insights give doctors much-needed information to tailor their treatment to the patient’s individual condition. In some cases, devices like the Apple Watch can take a single lead EKG reading to check for atrial fibrillation, which can be exported to a PDF and uploaded via MyChart to a cardiologist, who can then decide if a patient needs further testing and monitoring from dedicated medical devices.
To Recap
As we can see, the IoT has great potential in precision healthcare, as the data collected from these devices allows physicians to offer personalized healthcare solutions and greater flexibility for personalization in healthcare. As technology becomes more powerful, perhaps even utilizing A.I. in diagnostics, we can easily see a future in which, like in the television series Star Trek: Voyager, an A.I. holographic doctor who diagnoses and treats conditions (under the direction of a human doctor) gives patients the opportunity for more frequent and personalized medical care at a moment’s notice.

Eddie, who becomes so in tune with Steve it’s actually crazy. Steve lovingly dubbed it as his “Stevie-Senses,” which Eddie loves and robin hates. Robin calls him a glorified service dog.
Steve’s blood sugar is low? Eddie brings over a juice box or a blue airhead.
Steve’s blood sugar is skyrocketing? Eddie nudges him and asks is he needs a correction.
Eddie even has the app on his phone that is connected to Steve’s pod so he can see where Steve’s levels are at even when they’re apart.
Eddie keeps the packet that Steve made for him on his person at all times, even though he doesn’t need it anymore. He keeps the needles, strips, alcohol wipes, and the monitor in a little pouch.
When Eddie is performing, he makes sure that there are a shit ton of snacks for him, as well as water and a place for him to relax if he needs to.
Steve has never felt so loved and so seen before, which helps solidify Robin’s endearment and approval for the couple.

fade into you, lmh x reader
genre/tw est. relationship! suggestive, pure sugar cane fluff (like high fructose corn syrup fluff), minho only knows how to talk with his hands </3, gn!reader!! minho calls you kitty and honey <3!! seriously cavity inducing fluff be warned !! mostly unedited…
w/c 848
omg i haven’t posted a fic in so long nor have i written anything in months :(( but i’m finally a lot more settled after a busy drama filled couple of months! I hope you love this fic as much as i loved writing it. I’m not kidding when i say i wrote this in an hour on my phones notes app, don’t be afraid to tell me how you feel hehe 🩵
Tumblr media
It’s cold outside your sleeping bag, frigid morning fog seeping into the once cozy tent. You shiver at Minho’s nose pressing into your neck, his face as cold as a dog who’s been outside too long.
You’re not sure why you let your boyfriend convince you to camp in the middle of autumn… less sure why he insisted it was just the two of you, but you could never refuse Minho when he asked you so nicely— hands easing sighs while his mouth asked the question; the only thing you could say was yes, over and over.
Unfortunately, the ecstasy of being asked was not akin to the actual experience.
Insistent rain stormed down from the second you arrived to the last minute before your eyes closed, Minho in all his excitement forgot the cooler and was forced to drive all the way back—leaving you to shiver in the tent alone. No, it was not the romantic getaway your boyfriend promised, but being here now—warm despite the wilderness’s wishes—you think it could be.
“Are you still cold, honey?” Minho asks, his voice just a whisper amongst the whistling trees.
With your eyes still closed, you can only imagine what he looks like… Soft with sleep, his eyelashes cascading shadows across the slopes of his skin, beautiful like hypnos after creating dreams. You can feel his breath against your neck and his hands clutching at your waist, so safe despite how strong he is.
“No, min, I’m just right” you say, and you can feel his laugh, rumbling through him, feel his smile against your skin.
You wish he knew how much you cherish him… how much you treasure these little moments with him. How you’ll think about this moment every time he’s away from you; rolling the memory around your tongue like it’s a piece of candy.
Sometimes, you’re sure you can see a cord running from you to him, wrapping around the two of you like cling wrap—like every moment you’ve ever had was crafted by the fates, your story weaved by the gods themselves.
“Just right huh?” he says, before he’s lifting his head to look at you, eyes open and beautiful. “Well goldilocks, look how pretty you are this morning.” His smile is mischievous and if you didn’t know better you may think he was joking, but his tone gives him away: too quiet to be anything but the truth.
“Minho!” you cry, embarrassed by compliments this early, “lay back down, I need you to keep me warm.” He smiles down at you, knowing you well enough to see that you’re flustered, it’s always too easy; one compliment, and your skin is hot, his kiss lasts a second too long and you’re pulling away shaking.
Minho doesn’t think he’ll ever get tired of making your blood rush, enjoying the chase even when he has you.
When his skin gets closer to yours again, chest to chest/heart to heart, you find yourself breathing his air like you share one pair of lungs. He’s so close to you, searing your skin even as the sleeping bag pulls awkwardly around your legs, letting cool air settle around your figure.
His lips are so close to yours, one breath away from a kiss, so close you can feel his words flow into your open mouth.
“Are you warm now, kitty?”  he asks, his eyes boring into yours before flitting down to look at your skin; miles and miles of it under his hands, valleys of skin that are his as much as yours.
“I’m warm, Minho, are you?” Just a whisper.
“just right.” A smirk.
One breath, two breaths, three, and then he’s kissing you. Lips urging gasps to flow out of you, hands grasping at his tension filled spine. You’ve shared many kisses, sweet and sultry, frantic and lust filled, but something about this hunger is foreign to you.
His kiss is filled with wanting yes, but it’s almost like he’s trying to tell you something but forgot the words. His hands on your thighs urging you to listen, please please please understand, they say, clutching at the muscle like he’s afraid you’ll never know.
But you do, and so do your lips and your hands and you try your hardest to speak his language; responding to every bite with a nip of your own, gasping when his hands ask, kissing away the sleep still in his eyes. You know what he’s saying, I love you, I’m sorry you’re cold, I’m sorry I made you come on this rain coated trip, I love you I'm sorry, I love you I love you.”
Your boy, always so embarrassed to tell you how he feels, but never afraid to show you.
When you pull apart, hands locked together still, eyes gleaming with an inside joke, a shared confession; you can see he wants to say something, see he’s trying to build the courage to split his heart open. Instead he flits his eyes up to the sky and smiles.
Look honey, the suns coming out”
And you understand.

What if you wrote something with like... Poly EMT marauders or poly doctor marauders.. with a reader who is a type 1 diabetic, but is horrible at managing it. So like... Their omnipod or dexcom expires and they just don't realize it. As to why? Idk, like they're forgetful or maybe they were just diagnosed with it recently? Whatever sounds more interesting to you lmao
Thanks for requesting! Funnily enough I got this request the same week my uncle was in the icu with a blood sugar of over 1000 (the highest the paramedics said they'd ever seen!) so this was one of the only emt marauders drabbles I've ever done where I didn't actually have to do a bunch of research because I already knew about it haha
cw: diabetes, reader is impaired/faint, mention of needle
emt!marauders x fem!reader ♡ 628 words
The television blurs in front of you. You have the vague impression that you used to know what was happening in this show, but now you can hardly tell one character from another. A hand touches your face, sweeping hair away from your eyes and scratching nicely at your scalp.
“Getting tired, dove?”
You hum.
“Want to go to bed early?”
“I think I could sleep here on the couch,” you admit.
For a moment, there’s no reply. You feel the couch shift, and then a hand is gently turning your chin, directing you towards three concerned faces. It always makes you shy, being at the center of their combined attention, but right now the usual effects don’t feel as intense.
“Are you feeling okay?” James asks you.
“Yeah, I’m just tired.”
Later, you’ll learn you’d been slurring terribly.
“Where’s your phone, baby?” Sirius starts looking for it as you try to recall. He finds it before you can, clicking it open and tapping at the screen until he finds what he’s looking for. “Her blood sugar’s at 300.”
Remus’ brows push close together. “How’d that happen, hm?” he asks you. The sleeve of your pajama top gets pushed down. “Where’s your pod?”
You blink, working hard to remember. Sirius gets up from the couch. “It’s…I don’t know. It expired,” you say.
You hear the sound of the freezer opening, and a shrill beeping fills your kitchen. “Found it,” says Sirius.
“Fucking hell, you’ve got to stop putting it in there.” Remus sighs, though you don’t think he’s really angry with you. “I heard it earlier, but I thought I was going mental.”
“Sweetheart, why didn’t you get a new one when that one expired?” James asks. He rubs your calf from further down the couch, infinite in both sweetness and patience.
“I was going to. I forgot.” You’d gotten distracted with something or other, dishes that needed to be done or something outside the window or an attention-deprived Sirius calling you from the next room.
“You can’t just forget, silly girl.” Sirius gives your knee a mean (loving) squeeze as he sits down again. He sets a new omnipod on the table, filling it expertly with a syringe of insulin.
“Do you have a swab?” Remus asks, and Sirius hums, passing him one. “Thanks.”
Remus cleans off your arm, using one hand to ensure you’re still while Sirius gently presses the new omnipod to your skin. He runs his fingers around the adhesive a few times for good measure.
“4 units, yeah?” James asks, thumbing something into your app after the others agree. You wince when you feel the needle, still not used to it, and he makes a sorry sound. Presses a conciliatory kiss to your knee.
“There you go, babylove.” Remus sits back against the couch cushions, a tension you hadn’t noticed before dissipating from him. His hand finds your hair, carding through the strands close to your scalp. “You’ve gotta start taking better care of yourself. We can help if you want us to, but this is important, yeah?”
“I know,” you sigh, leaning against his shoulder. “Sorry, I just forget.”
“We’ll help you remember,” James offers in his easy way.
Sirius nudges both you and Remus over so he can squish in on your other side. “Can’t believe we were about to go to bed with you sky high.” He pokes your thigh. “That wouldn’t have been very nice to wake up to tomorrow.”
Your heart heavies, thinking of your boyfriends panicking and you nearly comatose in bed the next morning. “I’m sorry,” you say again, meaning it.
“It’s alright, dove.” Remus drops a kiss to your hair. “We don’t mind taking care of you. We’ll help you get the hang of it.”

From Morning Routine to Nighttime Rituals | IT GIRL DIARIES
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Becoming an IT Girl means embracing a lifestyle that balances beauty, productivity, and mindfulness. Let's take a look in the daily life of your ideal IT Girl...
Morning: Energizing Start 🎀
The IT Girl starts her day early, around 6 AM, with a refreshing glass of hot lemon water to detox and hydrate. She follows this with a quick workout, like indoor cycling or yoga, to get her blood flowing and boost her energy for the day ahead. After her workout, she treats herself to a skincare routine with gentle cleansers, serums, and sunscreen, focusing on achieving that effortless glow.
For breakfast, she enjoys a nutritious green juice, packed with spinach, kale, and ginger, which supports her clear skin and nourishes her body from within. She also takes a few moments for mindfulness practice, like journaling or meditation, to set positive intentions for the day.
Mid-Morning: Work Mode 🎀
By 9 AM, she’s in full productivity mode. To stay organized, she uses a to-do list or productivity app to break her day into manageable tasks. Whether she’s running a business, working on creative projects, or attending meetings, she prioritizes efficiency while taking short breaks to prevent burnout.
Lunch: Balanced and Light 🎀
For lunch, the IT Girl opts for a light, clean meal, like a salad with lean protein or healthy fats. She avoids processed foods and sugars, sticking to a nutrient-rich diet that keeps her feeling energized. During her break, she might catch up on reading or listen to a podcast that aligns with her personal growth goals.
Afternoon: Social and Active 🎀
In the afternoon, she may meet with friends, colleagues, or network with like-minded individuals. Socializing is a key part of her lifestyle, but she also remains selective about the company she keeps, ensuring her circle is supportive and inspiring.
To stay active, she might sneak in a quick walk or stretch, especially if she’s been working at a desk. Physical movement is important, even during a busy day, to maintain that IT Girl energy.
Evening: Wind Down in Style 🎀
As the day winds down, the IT Girl prepares for a relaxing evening. After finishing her tasks, she switches to self-care mode with an evening skincare routine, focusing on cleansing, moisturizing, and perhaps a face mask. She also enjoys a warm bath or some light stretching to soothe her body.
For dinner, she sticks to whole, unprocessed foods, such as grilled vegetables and lean proteins. The evening is her time to unwind, reflect, and recharge for the next day. She might do some light reading, indulge in a creative hobby, or spend time with loved ones.
Nighttime: Sleep Rituals 🎀
By 10 PM, it’s time for her nighttime rituals. The IT Girl knows the importance of quality sleep for her beauty and productivity. She turns off screens at least an hour before bed and enjoys a cup of herbal tea. Finally, she practices gratitude journaling to reflect on her day, setting a positive tone for the next morning.

FIVE THINGS I HAD TO CHANGE IN ORDER TO HEAL MY LIFE...
1] I had to delete social media. Exclusively Instagram. IG was consuming my life, the constant posting, the energy I was receiving was not in anyway positive. I knew my time was being wasted on the app and I couldn’t seem to help myself. It was an addiction. I first started deleting the app each day and reinstalling each time I wanted to check it. When got sick and had to have an emergency surgery last summer I knew in order to heal and stay mentally sane I HAD to delete the app. I have not gone back since. This singlehandedly removed so much toxicity out of my life.
2] I quit watching the news / reading the news. Those nightmares, those fearful thoughts, all programmed into my subconscious day-by-day by the repeated messages of fear and worry. And while my heart breaks for what is going on in the world, it was bringing me down - without any purpose. So I removed myself.
3] I got real serious about my connection with God. This transformed me. From someone who struggled with saying the word ‘God’ to Now knowing the love and guidance is something I receive daily, the transformation has been real. This looked like working with a spiritual coach, daily prayers, listening with intent during mediation to any messages. I started 1 hour mediations listening to God and although mostly silent the wisdom would pour in always from above.
4] I changed my diet. I quit carbs. This single handedly changed my life. No more extreme hunger even though I just ate 2 hours ago, no more carb crashes. I removed all the carbs and started a protein and veg diet with some fruits. I invested in a juicer, I started studying nutrition. I also quit alcohol. Learning about balancing my hormones through removing glucose (carbs, starches, sugars) has impacted me in ways I never knew possible.
5] I started running. As someone who works from home, it was very easy for me to be completely stagnant all day, and believe my dog walks were equivalent to exercise. In order to keep a healthy flow of blood, and maintain heart health, I needed to give my heart some work. This meant running. I started running down the road and back with many breaks in-between. I now run on the treadmill in the gym 3-4 times per week along with a little resistance training. When you start to show your body love, your confidence grows, you sleep better, your energy is replenished. It’s a win win.
With every one of these five steps. It took a while. I didn’t just stop eating carbs. I quit and I went back and realised going back to the old way wasn’t working. My relationship with God took time, I would skip my meditations and then realise how much I benefited from them. I had to delete and re-install instagram multiple times a day. The point being, sometimes you got to slip-up. But make sure you’re falling forward.

Orange Juice
Tumblr media
summary: your boss has you on edge at work, which leads you to forget to eat lunch. as a type 1 diabetic, this means your blood sugar is low, which eddie quickly catches onto when he gets home. he spends the rest of the night taking care of you and making sure you're okay.
word count: 1.9k
request: anon- Would you maybe write a Eddie x reader fic where she has type 1 diabetes and has a rough night of low blood sugar and he helps getting her snacks and juice and then telling her to try to get some rest and he stays up to monitor her sugars on her dexcom app because he's too worried to go back to sleep.
A/N: i tried my best on this, i really hope everything i wrote was accurate! i'm not completely educated on diabetes, but i did a bunch of research to make sure it was as close as possible to what happens with low blood sugar. regardless, i hope you enjoy reading attentive and worried eddie!
warnings: reader has type 1 diabetes, no use of y/n, plus size!reader, fem!reader, race inclusive!reader
Tumblr media
You’re happy to finally be home after a long day of work. Your boss has been on edge lately, meaning she had you doing far more than you’re used to. Today, you’ve been so busy and stressed, that you hadn’t noticed that your lunch is still sitting in your work fridge. Eating was at the bottom of the list of things to worry about today, even though you have type 1 diabetes, and know that skipping meals isn’t the best idea.
You notice you’re feeling a little dizzy as you start pulling things out of the fridge to make dinner, but you ignore it, not even thinking about why. All you’re focused on is that Eddie and Christopher will be home soon, and you know they’ll be hungry.
You smile when you hear the front door open and the small laugh coming from Christopher as Eddie talks to him. You hear their footsteps coming into the kitchen, and you turn from what you’re doing for a moment to greet them, smiling widely at Chris.
You had fallen in love with Christopher as soon as Eddie introduced you to him, and he’s been so welcoming to you. You were a little surprised at how easily he accepted that you were moving in with them, but you didn’t want to question it.
Eddie comes up to you and puts a hand on your soft waist as he gives you a quick kiss, mumbling a greeting against your lips. You smile at him before you turn back to the dinner you’re preparing, swatting his hand playfully as he reaches for a piece of pepper you had cut.
As you listen to him talk about his day, you begin to feel dizzy again, but continue trying to ignore it, nodding as you try to focus on his deep voice. You feel yourself start to sweat, and your hands are shaking ever so slightly, but you’re so focused on dinner and Eddie that it doesn’t click.
The way you’re gripping the counter every now and then doesn’t get past Eddie, and he furrows his brows as he studies you. He keeps his eyes trained on your movements as he continues his story, not wanting you to pick up on his inspection of your actions because he knows you’ll brush him off.
He’s by your side immediately with one hand on your plush tummy and the other on your upper back when you blink slowly and start to sway gently.
“Are you okay, baby?” he asks, worry etched on his face. He’s seen you like this before when your blood sugar is low, so he thinks he knows exactly what’s going on. He’s met with a small nod as you regain your balance, continuing to prepare dinner.
“Is your blood sugar low?” he asks you, getting slightly upset that you’re not taking proper care of yourself. As he speaks, everything suddenly clicks in your brain; you forgot to eat today. He sees the realization on your face and he sighs, slowly leading you to the kitchen table and guiding you gently down into a chair.
“Baby, when’s the last time you ate?” he asks you softly as he kneels down in front of you, his eyes softening as you look down at him with an apologetic look.
“Breakfast.” you mumble, beginning to feel really bad as you see the look on his face. You aren’t trying to worry him, you just want to be truthful with him. He’d figure it out if you weren’t, and lying to him would make you feel worse.
He sighs and gets up, going to the fridge and getting you a cup of orange juice.
“Drink this. I’ll finish dinner while you sit here.” You’re about to tell him that you can finish dinner, but you change your mind before you can get a word out. You realize it’s probably a good idea, and you know he wouldn’t let you lift a finger regardless. You nod, sighing as you pick up the cup, taking a small drink.
“More.” he says once he hears the bottom of the cup hit the table. His back is turned as he makes dinner, but he knows that you aren’t holding the cup long enough to drink an acceptable amount of orange juice. You laugh softly, finding it funny that he knows you so well, and raise the cup back up to your lips, taking a bigger drink of it.
He hums happily as he hears you move, and quickly finishes dinner. He keeps an eye on you as you keep him company, and asks you why you didn’t eat today. You explain to him how much stress you’re under at work, and he can’t help the frown that takes over your face.
“Honey, you’ve gotta eat. I don’t care about what your boss needs you to do. I don’t want you passing out on me.” he tells you, his tone slightly joking as he finishes. You hum softly, nodding. You know he’s right, but you honestly didn’t mean for this to happen.
“I know, I’m sorry. I forgot. I promise I’ll try not to let it happen again.” He smiles at your reassurance, and nods while he places dinner on the table. He calls Christopher, and you all sit down for dinner.
Christopher tells you about his day as you eat, and you laugh every now and then at his words. Once you’re done eating, Christopher is quick to leave the table, saying something about playing a video game with his friends as he goes, which makes you smile.
Eddie clears the table and loads the dishwasher, and once he’s done, he urges you to the bedroom to change.
“We’re gonna sit on the couch and watch a movie. I don’t want you doing much.” he tells you sternly. You’ve learned how stubborn he is, so you don’t put up a fight, instead getting on some comfy clothes and letting Eddie lead you to the couch once you’re both changed.
He sits down beside you on the couch, and turns on the movie you requested. It’s a series of movies, which he thinks is perfect, as he can entice you to watch the second and possibly even the third one tonight too. He wants to keep you close, allowing him to check on you whenever he wants.
He puts his arm on the back of the couch behind you, smiling softly as you lean against him and rest your cheek on his chest. You love how attentive he is towards you, and you think this is your favourite way to spend the night with him. You’re not all that worried about how you’re feeling; you’ve lived with it far longer than Eddie has, but you appreciate how worried he gets. It proves to you that he cares for you, even if you feel bad for how nervous he gets sometimes.
Just as the movie starts, he whispers in your ear to sit up. You oblige with a confused look on your face, brows furrowed as he gets up from the couch. He walks into the hallway, and you wait quietly, only half paying attention to the first few minutes of the movie as you hear him shuffling around the kitchen.
He comes back into the living room with some more juice, and a little plate of various snacks, giving you a small smile as he sets them down on the table. He settles back into his spot, and then puts a hand on the side of your head, gently ushering you to put your head back on his chest.
You obey his silent command and lay back against him, one arm making its way over his torso as you snuggle into his chest, practically feeling the love radiating off of him.
“You don’t need to eat all of this now, but I want it all gone by the time the movie is over.” he tells you firmly, but there’s still a soft edge to his tone as he looks down at the top of your head. He smiles when you nod and hum softly, and he leans down to kiss the top of your head before he turns his attention to the movie.
“I’m okay.” you whisper after a moment, turning your head to look up at him. He gives you a “really?” look as he meets your gaze, raising his hand and rubbing your cheek gently.
“I’m just making sure, honey. I gotta make sure my girl’s okay.” he tells you softly. You lower your gaze, nuzzling your head back into his chest as his arm makes its way from the back of the couch to your shoulders, squeezing them lightly.
“I already had dinner, I really don’t need all this.” you whisper, trying to focus on the movie. You know if you don’t pay attention now, the rest of the movie probably won’t make any sense.
“You’re at least gonna drink the rest of that juice, deal?” He grabs your chin and brings your face back up so you’re looking in his eyes. You nod in his grip, raising your head to kiss him. He smiles into the kiss, chasing your lips as you pull away.
“Let’s focus on the movie. Don’t want you asking questions the whole time because you weren’t paying attention.” you tease as you refocus on the movie. You’re met with a scoff as he rolls his eyes.
“Ha ha.” he says sarcastically, but he doesn’t argue any further. He focuses on the movie, and grabs your phone on the table, checking your dexcom app every few minutes, making sure your blood sugar is rising as it’s supposed to.
He’s not sure when you fell asleep. He knows you were awake when the first movie ended, but he’s met with silence as he makes a joke about the main character around halfway through the second movie.
He opens your dexcom app quickly, sighing in relief once he sees that your blood sugar has increased. It’s still not exactly where it should be, but it’s a good sign. He lowers the tv volume, continuing to watch the movie, but he’s more focused on your steady breathing. He rubs his thumb across your shoulder softly, trying not to wake you, but he can’t help wanting his hands on you.
Once the second movie is over, he still doesn’t want to wake you. He’s content sitting here with you, and he wants you to rest after your stressful day of work. He decides to lay back and close his eyes, deciding to let you sleep for a little while longer before he wakes you up to go to bed.
He keeps his eyes closed for a few minutes, but he can’t seem to get to sleep. He’s still worried about you, even though your blood sugar is returning to normal. You drank the rest of the juice he set out for you, and you even ate a few of the snacks he brought out, but he couldn’t help the nervousness eating at him. He keeps your phone in his hand, checking your app every now and then while he watches whatever is playing on tv.
As he watches over you, feeling you moving slightly as you breathe in and out, he’s filled with so much love for you. He already knew, but he knows for sure now that he would do anything to make sure you’re okay. To make sure you stay with him forever.

Marvel Women x Diabetic!Reader HCs:
When your blood sugar is low
Characters: Kate Bishop, Natasha Romanoff, Maria Hill, Wanda Maximoff, Carol Danvers
A/N: this can be read as platonic or romantic! Also, world diabetes day was last week, but here we are.
Kate Bishop:
Before you met, the food scene at Kate’s apartment was dismal
The only things she ever really kept on hand were boxed Mac and cheese, microwave popcorn, and chocolate bars
Now, (in addition to real food and snacks you can eat more regularly) Kate’s apartment is filled with all of your favorite carb-filled, high glycemic index snacks and drinks
When you go low, she’s immediately offering you everything under the sun
If your favorites are from abroad, she WILL order them, shipping costs be damned
If you’re having a super mild hypo, she’ll pop downstairs and grab you a slice of pizza
Kate Bishop is a bit of a hoverer
Constantly checking in to make sure your sugar levels aren’t going down further
She HATES waiting 15 minutes to see if you’re back above 70 mg/dL (3.9 mmol/L)
Lowkey more anxious about it than you sometimes
“Are you sure you’re not going to collapse?”
“Kate, I’m only at 68, and I had a snack. I’m fine.”
“That is not fine!”
Natasha Romanoff:
Natasha is super observant (obviously, she’s a spy)
Seems to know you’re going low before you do
Will tell you to check your blood sugar because she’s noticing you look a little shaky and out of it
Other times will rummage through your bag and hand you a pack of gummies just as you’re about to tell her you feel low
She keeps little hard candies/gels hidden in the most random places for you
Once you were out and she pulled a candy from a pocket in her shirt you didn’t realize was there
Will never force you to do anything, but will give you her hardest stare if you don’t immediately treat your low (especially if you wear a continuous glucose monitor [cgm])
“I don’t even feel shaky, and you know this thing sometimes shows false lows,”
“I can tell youre about to go low. Here, drink this.”
“Where were you hiding a juice pouch?!”
“I have a lot of things hidden on my body,”
“IS THAT A GRENADE??”
Maria Hill:
When she found out you were diabetic, Maria did a whole bunch of research, including on the signs of hypoglycemia and how to treat it
She has your lows down to a science
If you have a cgm, she definitely has the app on her phone so it tells her when you’re going low
If the cgm says you’re low, but you don’t feel the symptoms, she makes you check with the finger stick
Has things portioned so each serving has exactly 15 grams of carbs
Makes sure you eat a more substantial snack with protein in it once you’re back in range
Keeps a journal of the dates/times you go low and how effectively different treatments work for you
“I think you should start having an afternoon snack. I’ve noticed you have the most hypoglycemic incidents an hour or two before dinner.”
“Hmm, okay. But only if you take a break and have a snack with me.”
“If that’s what it takes, deal.”
Wanda Maximoff:
Wanda is an even bigger worrier than Kate
She’s lost so many people in her life, and she’ll be damned if she lets you die from something she can directly stop
She keeps a closer eye on your blood sugar than you do
Like Maria, if you have a cgm she has the app to track
Wanda makes sure EVERY alarm is turned on and at the highest volume
When you go out, she carries more snacks than you do
If you have glucagon, Wanda keeps a dose with her, even if you also have one on you
The instant she knows you’re low there is a candy in your hand (before you can even access your own stash)
“If that doesn’t do it, I have three juice boxes, two packs of fruit gummies, and about two dozen hard candies in my bag,”
“Geez, Wanda. That sounds heavy. Which one of us is diabetic again?”
“I just want to make sure you’re okay!”
“Sorry, I know. Thank you for caring so much about me.”
“Of course.”
Carol Danvers:
You go low while on Carol’s ship once, and she gives you juice from an alien planet and it’s the most amazing thing you’ve ever tasted
She finds out how much you like it and goes back to the planet just to buy it for you so she always has some on her ship
Forget a phone app, Carol has low glucose alerts hooked up to all of her tech no matter what technology you use
She somehow managed to get your finger stick connected to her suit and her ship
If she happens to be off-world and she gets an alert about you going low, she stops what she’s doing to text you
But if she’s “close,” no matter where she is on Earth (or near it) when you go low she will use her super speed to get to you, even if you assure her your fine
“Carol, you really didn’t have to leave your meeting with Fury for this. I have my own snacks.”
“I know, but I’m planetside and I have that juice you like.”
“Thanks for always taking care of me.”
“Of course, I’ll always be here when you need me.”

i've been lurking around the rosekiller tag for a long while and i see a lot of people asking for rosekiller-centric fic recs, so if anyone cares here's my hand-picked list of rosekiller fic recs. this includes a lot of the popular ones but also some less-popular and very underrated ones (i think). anyways hopefully i'm doing this right cuz i've never posted on here before soo pls be kind if i make a mistake abt something idk.
this includes both long/multi-chapter fics and one shots btw.
also be warned; this is pretty long even though i tried to keep things short-ish (but i can't help it these are all such good fics i have to talk about them!!!). if you want the rough-ish approximation of this list in the form of a spreadsheet with more details (me ranting about how much i love these fics), click here.
LONG FICS (or basically just more than 1 chapter fics)
why do stars fall down from the sky, every time that you walk by by ricecake_13 (E, 117k, 17/?) this is actually my favorite ongoing rosekiller fic ever oh my god, it's a modern high school au with lots of povs and ships though rosekiller is the main one. beautifully written, gorgeous plot/pacing, amazing characterization, incredibly underrated, please read this it's a masterpiece.
The Blood of Hyacinthus by writingamarie (M, 175k, 14/20) another one of my fav ongoing fics, it's a canon compliant rosekiller fic (ravenclaw barty my beloved!!!) starting from first year all throughout the war. this is probably the best portrayal of canon compliant rosekiller i've seen, they aren't portrayed as poor kids who got roped into the war, they made their own decisions, and i love it so much.
Just Deserts by paletragedycat (M, 700k, 43/?) i'm at around like chapter 10 of this absolute beast of a fic and i am begging you guys to give this fic more attention. it's absolutely incredibly written with a fantastic plot, gorgeous characterization, this fic is absolutely insane like. this deserves to be like the crimson rivers of rosekiller. the plot is lowkey kinda hard to explain but umm. some of them are detectives, some of them are bodyguards, some of them are criminals. super cool. this fic is actually just so so impressive and so incredibly underrated it hurts.
sun tea in the summer by cademygod (NR, 44k, 10/12) this is THE rosekiller coming of age story i swear, modern au that starts when they're kids and each chapter they age 1 year, super cute and fluffy, i am such a sucker for childhood friends to lovers tropes omg.
Evan Rosier and the Unbearable Weight of his Own Decisions by Mylifeisaworm (E, 145k, 35/?) another great portrayal of canon compliant rosekiller, i really love how this one features all the slytherins we typically don't like (snape, mulciber, wilkes, etc.) bc it makes this fic feel even more realistic. this is a super awesome take on canon rosekiller and i love it.
Head Over Feet by sanguinerose (E, 136k, 27/27) i'm sure you guys have heard of this one but it's a modern au, super great, it's everything i've ever wanted from a rosekiller high school au. and evan is french btw god i love french evan rosier so much.
PRETTY BOY by IvyCore (E, 96k, 10/10) this is part of a series, the first part is SUGAR HIGH which is a jegulus fic but honestly this can probably?? be read without reading that one first (even though i still super recommend it). barty is a sex worker and a pianist and evan is a restaurant owner and this is just so so good omg.
intermission by bizarrestars (M, 43k, 4/4) very sure you all have heard of this fic (and for good reason too, it's fantastic) but in case you haven't it's a no voldemort au but still at hogwarts and in the same universe as just lovers (jegulus, also amazing, like the second marauders fic i read i think). this is so sweet and fluffy and cute and this fic is what got me into rosekiller i think soo yeah.
Tug by pressedink (E, 70k, 12/?) rosekiller dating app au where they pair two strangers together in an apartment and they can do whatever except they can't kiss or else they can never seen each other again. except barty and evan are not strangers. i loove this fic, and it's super smutty if that's up your alley. (did i use that phrase right? i feel like i didn't but whatever.)
Beneath the Mask by orphan_account (T, 105k, 44/44) okay this one is a really interesting concept, it's broken up into two timelines: one following them during their hogwarts years and the other following evan while he navigates life after the wizarding war. idk it's a bit hard to explain but. you'll see. so yeah all the war stuff does happen but they both survive afterwards. i really enjoyed this, it was a really interesting take on the whole war situation.
A Truthful Joke by justreadandwritex (T, 30k, 9/9) best friends to lovers au set at hogwarts but idk if voldemort exists (if he does he's not mentioned). just rosekiller being incredibly stupid and cute and oblivious.
Straight A's by stargirly161 (T, 32k, 14/14) academic rivals to lovers rosekiller oh my god i need to see more of them. another pretty popular one and understandably so because it's amazing in every aspect, i've reread this one like 3 times.
Ant Pile by sommerregenjuniluft (E, 21k, 2/2) super super amazing rosekiller coming of age fic and childhood best friends to lovers, god i love this fic. the story starts when they're little kids and it is the most adorable thing ever and ends when they're like 18 and it's just. so good. please read it.
having a ghost in my bed by v7lgar (E, 42k, 3/3) modern au and okayyy wow this is legit just smut all the way through and WOW is it something, this is like some of the best rosekiller smut i've read. if you're just looking for some smut this is the place to look.
I'm Not Gonna Teach Him How to Dance with You by greensenne (M, 122k, 18/18) you've probably heard of this one but i'm still including it, this is set post-hogwarts (so there's still magic i think) but it's a no voldemort au. basically barty's getting married and evan is his best man except Feelings get in the way. very very cute, quite slow burn but it's very worth it.
Tender Curiosities, Baby! by otrtbs (M, 79k, 6/6) ahh another popular one, it's in the same universe as art heist, baby! which you have probably definitely heard of (it's a fantastic jegulus art heist fic). anywayss yeah this fic focuses on rosekiller and it is so so good, idk if it can be read as a standalone though...cause there are a lot of references to ahb!
Rock Bottom by floretissogay (T, 7.9k, 10/10) super super cute and fluffy rosekiller texting fic, there's like zero angst it's literally just fluff and silliness.
Off the Edge of the Earth, and Farther Still by typhoid_fluu (M, 17k, 11/?) this one hasn't been updated in a while buut it's a canon compliant rosekiller au following them throughout hogwarts starting from first year. super cute, at least so far (cuz they're still in first year).
annoying by facestraightoutamagazine (M, 101k, 31/31) another great texting fic, it's a wrong number au and goddd i'm a sucker for those. this one has like minimal angst, it's all just vibes and silliness, it's super cute and funny and i've reread this one like 3 times.
Say Something by writingamarie (E, 43k, 12/12) PLEASE give this fic more attention i am begging. it's incredible in every aspect - the writing, the characterization, the pacing (especially the pacing omg you'll see what i mean when you read this fic), everything. rosekiller friends with benefits will always be my favorite. please guys just please this fic is so underrated it hurts.
bad idea, right? by sparklejumpropequeen79 (NR, 30k, 13/?) this fic got discontinued but i really liked it while i was reading it so i'm still mentioning it in case you don't mind reading fics that won't be finished? idk. no voldemort au where barty and evan are really stupid about their feelings. typical rosekiller stuff.
kiss him you fool. by everlovelymoony (M, 8k, 4/4) this fic is so goddamn cute i actually can't. barty is a kindergarten teacher and luna is in his class and evan is luna's uncle. can we please please have more rosekiller teacher AUs please.
Obsessed by andromeden (E, 40k, 2/2) barty stalks his boyfriend's ex and uhh yeah. this is 40k words of barty and evan being incredibly fucked up and also made for each other. rosekiller at their finest, you know. probably mind the tags though.
Ashes to Ashes by lupinist (M, 13k, 3/3) rosekiller friends to lovers never gets old. very well written, amazing dynamic and characterization, super underrated!
a rose will be for a rose (timelessness for your love) by iWrite (T, 6.8k, 2/2) rosekiller spin the bottle and being dumbasses about their feelings. only a light bit of angst, super cute, love it.
show me those pretty white jaws by 214lilacsky (E, 144k, 15/15) recently started reading this one and i do not know what took me so long because holy shit the writing is beautiful, the characterization is beautiful, just like. this whole fic. beautiful. wow. this is a fairly popular one i think and i absolutely see why.
Pickup or Delivery by lifeisabitch (E, 41k, 15/15) this is so so good, i am absolutely obsessed with their characterization and dynamic here. they are absolute freaks and i am living for it.
i would say i love you (but it's so hard, i won't say it at all) by avesgraveyard (M, 74k, 9/?) road trip au with a bunch of other marauders characters, this is super super cute and evan and barty are incredibly bad at feelings (as they always are) and i just. love this so much. i've reread this one many times before.
with a taste of your lips im on a run by siriusstardust (G, 6.9k, 2/?) wrong number rosekiller au that i am really really enjoying so far, it's super cute and funny and silly.
ONE-SHOTS
no one’s gonna say anything against a dude kissing his homie good luck by sommerregenjuniluft (M, 3k) literally the title, they're skateboarding, uhhh yeah. i really like the vibes of this fic, evan and barty are dumbass teenagers who are toootally just platonic, which is honestly my favorite version of rosekiller.
loving you (is the antidote) by serendipitysirius (M, 13k) amortentia fic, sue me i'm a sucker for those. it is canon compliant but voldemort and the war aren't really mentioned.
don’t want none of this (good times, all the time) by cheeryknots (M, 3.9k) one of my fav rosekiller one shots, i swear i reread this like once every two months lol. it's set at hogwarts and they're at a party and they play spin the bottle and they get Jealous and it's just! so good.
Holding My Heart Out In Shaking Hands by twoclosetothestars (NR, 9k) modern au, i read this one a while ago but i remember really enjoying it. this one has it all; smut, angst, and fluff (in that order).
most fun i ever had (i did something bad) by cheeryknots (E, 5k) this is an incredible work of art holy shit. there's also a second part to this series (the series is appropriately named rosekiller murder husbands) that i also adore so check that one out too. this is legit just smut and rosekiller being absolutely insane and very much in love and i love it so much they are freaks your honor.
ghosting by dracure (E, 5.3k) evan and james are together in this one (not for long after the events in this fic though lmao).
my way or the highway by heartnipnops (E, 6.1k) car sex!!! yay. yeah idk what else to say this is great smut uhh yeah.
Shotgun by DayDreamingQueen (E, 3.1k) more rosekiller car sex (more specifically blowjob). except they aren't even together in this one. how do you literally suck your friend off in a car and just. go on with your life. they are actually so stupid it's astounding. great fic though.

‘Smart Speaker’ Shows Potential for Better Self-Management of Type 2 Diabetes - Technology Org

‘Smart Speaker’ Shows Potential for Better Self-Management of Type 2 Diabetes - Technology Org
A new study led by Stanford Medicine indicates that an AI app can help Type 2 diabetic patients manage their blood glucose levels.
Type 2 diabetes patients have access to various digital health tools, including mobile apps for iPhones and remote patient monitoring devices, all of which help them manage their blood glycemic levels. They can test at home, usually with a glucometer, then communicate that data to their care team via an app or web portal by calling on the phone or waiting for an appointment.

However, these monitoring tools assume a level of comfort with technology and sometimes math proficiency that many patients don’t have. And they all require something in short supply: clinicians.
Now, researchers from Stanford Medicine have created a voice-based artificial intelligence application that runs on a device already familiar to tens of millions of Americans: a “smart speaker,” commonly used to play music and check the weather. The app tells patients the correct insulin dose without requiring them to contact their doctor’s office or wait for an appointment.
“People simply don’t have that much access to care,” said Ashwin Nayak, MD, a clinical assistant professor of medicine. “We want to empower patients to do it themselves.” Nayak is first author of the paper based on the study, which was published in JAMA Network Open.
Participants in a randomized trial who used the system achieved optimal blood glucose levels far faster than the control group; they were also better about taking the prescribed amount of insulin at the time they were supposed to.
In addition, they reported lower levels of emotional distress related to their diabetes.
Most patients with Type 2 diabetes don’t benefit from the continuous glucose monitors or insulin pumps commonly used by patients with Type 1 diabetes. Insulin pumps supply a constant amount of insulin to address insulin deficiency, in which the cells that should be producing insulin fail to do so. Type 2 diabetics, in contrast, have insulin resistance, so their need for insulin tends to be less consistent.
Small study shows results
The study followed 32 individuals with Type 2 diabetes who were all taking insulin and struggling to achieve healthy blood glucose levels. Half of those received a speaker preloaded with the voice-based artificial intelligence software created by the research team. Each participant’s insulin protocol — including starting insulin dose, fasting blood glucose range goal and insulin dose instructions — was included in the software on their device.
Participants assigned to the AI group were instructed to check in each day using the phrase, “Check in with clinical trial,” which triggered a conversation in which the participant reported clinical data, such as recent insulin use and fasting blood glucose reading. At the end of the conversation, the software provided updated instructions by responding, for example, “OK, keep doing what you’re doing,” or “Up your dose” by a specified amount. The platform goes beyond remote monitoring by enabling remote patient intervention for the first time, the researchers said.
Participants randomized to the standard of care group also received a smart speaker, which was set up with daily reminders to complete their log but did not contain the app. Those patients monitored their blood glucose levels as they were accustomed to and reported the data to their providers online or by phone. If they required a change in dose, their medical provider contacted them.
Though the trial sample size was small, the impact was dramatic. Over the eight-week study period, 81% of patients in the group who used the app achieved glycemic control of their diabetes compared with 25% of patients who received traditional care. Patients in the trial managed by the AI had their insulin dose adjusted more frequently and needed far fewer doctor’s appointments to get their diabetes under control.
The voice-activated device has great potential to improve access, usability and convenience, especially for older patients with Type 2 diabetes, the researchers said.
“Patients don’t have tools to navigate the system and deal with the complexity of their treatments,” said Kevin Schulman, MD, professor of medicine and co-director of Stanford’s Clinical Excellence Research Center, who led the study. “If we want to meet people where they are we’re going to need to technology to help us. With this approach, AI and voice interface are coming together to try to solve a huge problem.”
The system used in the trial was programmed in English, but the system can easily be adjusted for speakers of other languages, researchers said. The app can also be programmed to monitor the patient’s response to other diabetes medications they’re taking, in addition to insulin.
