*Hopping off of his horsey friend, the wannabe Cowboy ran excitedly to the entrance of the school, a tired Chara floating close behind him. She had somehow slept the whole ride, only just now waking up. Meanwhile the horse-like monster trotted to his own dorm to get some sleep for the night.*

Chara: Guess we're a bit later than expected, huh? Should've let me sleep more. Maybe then we wouldn't be just arriving at 2am.

*Chara, being too tired to even carry her luggage, decided to just use her magic to make the bag hover behind her. As the fox boy approached the giant doors, he searched his pockets for the keys. He most likely swiped them last year…the little thief.*

The best dog names, and how to name your puppy

Naming your family pet is one of  the most beautiful moment when owning a pet. Petbacker has been committed to help pet owners to decide how they should name their pets, and it took Petbacker more than 2 years to conduct a comprehensive surveys and gathered information from 400,000 pet owners in regard to the questions of “why you give this precious name to your dog” , “does the dog name match your character of your pet”, as well as “do you name your dog based on their breed”.

Based on our surveys, we want to share with all pet’s owner some inspiring and fun ideas that are relevant to giving names for your fur babies! 

For instance, we found that many owners named their pets after childhood movie characters, famous celebrities, their human friend, different seasons of the year etc. It is amazingly shocking to note that there are even pet owners who named their pets based on numerological method. 

Method that owners use to name their pets.

Less than 4.5% of owners named their Pets based on Seasons of the year

Each season represents its special meaning. Some owners love to name their dogs based on the seasons and months which they were born such as spring, summer, autumn and winter. For example, babies who were born during spring season can be named Haru, in Japanese, ha ru は る) means spring. Some babies who are brought home by their owners in summer are directly named as summer. For babies born in the cold winter, they can be named as winter. 

From the above ideas, the following are some of the names which you may take into consideration:

Spring - Asher, Abril, Lily or Spring rolls

Summer - Sunny, Lia, Lilac or Summer ball

Autumn - Pablo, Raven, Mooncake or Cinnamon

Winter - Polar, Santa, Sparkle or Gabby

More than 55.2% of owners named their Pets based on Human Names 

Human names make great and meaningful names for dogs and puppies too. If your dog loves running, you may consider one of the suggested human names below to give him or her some cool attitudes.

Female dogs can be named as Anne, Anna, Angel, Alice, Lucy, Emily, Juliet, Amy, etc. Alternatively, the owner can use the characters from TV series as reference. Male dogs can be named as Jack, Nick, Mike, Peter, David, Henry, Irwin etc.

Less than 4.1% of owners named their Pets based on Foodie Name

Food naming method is also a very popular naming method. The pet owner can base on food names according to their pets’ fur colours or their own favourite food.

White fur – Tofu, Cauliflower, Onion, Garlic

Yellow-ish fur – Milk Tea, Coffee, Potato, Banana

Black fur - Cola, Sesame, Pepper, Seaweed

You can also call these little guys directly with your favourite snacks, such as pudding, buns, milkshake, noodle, cheese, cupcake, dumplings and other food. 

To our surprise, about 30.3% of owners named their Pets based on Numerology method

Pet owners can actually name their pets using numerology naming method, owners will count the number belonging to their pets by deriving it from the dates of birth of their pets, and put a name that matches the pet birthday so the pet will have the character they want to have. 

This can be done by finding the pet Life Path number, these Number can be obtained by adding the birthday numbers together until you get a single digit, for an example, a pet was born in November 14th, 2018, it would be = 1+1+1+4+2+0+1+8 = 18 = 1+8 = 9 …, So their Life Path is a “9”.

With the life path number, they will then decide what name to give so the number changes slightly to what they wanted. How to count a name with number so they add together to become single number. 

For an example EDDY, E= 5,D=4,D=4,Y= 25 =2+5=7

Birthday date + Name = 9+7=16 

The final digit would be, 1+6=7

Here you go ! Your best friend Life Path Number is a “7” .

Here are some of the attributes of the different Numbers :

Number 1, is a number that represents Self, and it brings a very independent character. If your pet has a name that reduces to “1”, you expect them to be more independent, this pet will probably be headstrong! Your best friend is going to do what it wants to, so be patient. They can make excellent guard dogs or protective animals. 

Number 2, this is a Number of Cooperation and Relationships. This is the pet that will be happiest sitting in your lap! They will also like company, other pets, and humans. They don’t do well alone for extended periods. They can be naturally shy, and will dislike fireworks and thunderstorms.

Number 3, this is a Number of Creativity and Communication. With humans, they are likely to be on stage and often have a good sense of humour. They are quite social, and hyperactive, they love to be out & about, meeting new humans and other pets.

They are sometimes difficult to be trained due to a short attention span. They can be talkative too, so expect a lot of barking! They are typically good with children as they enjoy the busy energy that children brings.

Number 4, is a Number of Structure. Pets or animals with this Energy do best in structured environments. They like routines, such as feeding and training or exercise at the same times each day. 

Number 5, This is a Number of High-Energy, Chaos and Adventure. These animals love adventure! They don’t like to be cooped up too. They love riding in cars, going for walks at the park. They might not be the best choice for small children, but they will be entertaining!

Number 6, This is the Number of The Nurturer. Ideally suited to home and family, this is a very devoted and loving animal. They love affection and are quick to give it too. They love to sleep in bed with you and will love cozy warm places to snuggle in. These dogs also make for the best service animals and can be trained to help a human who has disabilities.

Number 8, This is a Number of Abundance and Prosperity. They love studded collars, luxurious bed, even those animal-outfits! They love attention, and can be demanding. They are usually high-energy, be prepared to be lead around!

Number 9, This is a Number of The Philanthropist, Old Soul, Wisdom. They are Natural Leaders, but do not have a competitive streak, so not the best choice for a show animal. They are extremely sensitive. They know when you are hurting and when you are happy. They like a lot of physical contacts to assure that everything is alright.

Many young owners have their favourite cartoon characters, comic protagonists and so on. Hence, they can name their dogs by their favourite characters. For example, One Piece's Luffy, Qiaoba, Naruto, Kakashi, Doraemon etc.

About 2.9% of owners named their Pets based on Celebrity name

Pet owners do have their own favourite celebrities who they like and admire. Therefore, it’s pretty cool to name their pet according to the celebrity name, or the name of their fan club.

Imagine when he is running around on the street, and you call his name, people who passes by will think that there is a big star coming!

How to make your pets remember their name fast?

Giving a name to your pet is easy, but how do you want your pet to remember the name you gave or effect the change of name ASAP? We provide below some methods which you may adopt to make your pets remember their name.

1. Food temptation: After giving your dog a name, you need to patiently let him remember his name. One of the best ways is giving them food and treats!

Ein süßer Wonneproppen.

Hallo aus Uruguay,

tja Leute das Leben ändert sich. Nicht nur ne Frau kommt in meine Leben, nein auch noch nen ganze Kinderschar. Nein nein nicht was ihr jetzt denkt. Shanti bringt keine Menschenkinder mit, sie hat ganz nette und liebe Hundies, denn sie züchtet Bobtails.

Und nun muss ich mal ganz ehrlich was sagen. Ich hatte keine Ahnung welche liebreizende Hunde diese Bobtails sind. Sie sind vielleicht nicht unbedingt Pflegeleicht denn sie haben ein langen schönes weiches Fell und jeder der Haare kennt, der weiß wie schnell diese unter bestimmten Bedingungen aussehen können.

Nach dem spielen im Regen sieht das Petzi Baby so aus.

Nun habe ich gestern unseren jüngsten 3 Monate alten Petzi mit zu mir hier nach Hause genommen um ihm ein wenig andere Welt zu zeigen. In diesem Alter sind Hunde ja sehr lernbegierig und brauchen jede Menge Abwechslung um für ein langes Leben zu lernen und fit zu sein. Mein Puck versteht sich recht gut mit dem Baby und unsere Blacky hier ist ganz versessen auf den kleinen Petzi. Sie animiert ihn mit nach draußen zu gehen m mit ihr zu spielen. Jeder kann sich denken, dass es dabei nicht unbedingt zimperlich zu geht.

Leider hat es vorhin einigermaßen aus -und ergiebig geregnet sodass natürlich alles recht nass ist. Dies will und kann aber richtige Hunde nicht stören. Da wird gespielt, sich im Nassen gerollt, möglichst im dicksten Schlamm und hinterher erkennt man dann keinen Hund mehr sondern nur noch einen laufenden Schlammklumpen. Die schönen Farbunterschiede im Fell waren nur noch zu erahnen als mein kleiner Petzi wieder in der Wohnung erschien.

Na ja natürlich nicht. Das baby ist ja wichtiger. Er ist ein Baby und die brauchen so etwas. Nass war er ja schon nur halt dreckig. Also ab mit ihm nach draußen. Dort habe ich Wasser und einen Schlauch mit dem ich ihn dann halt mal abgespritzt habe. Ganz vorsichtig. So dass der Dreck wieder aus dem Fell lief. Wenn ich ehrlich bin hatte ich auch das Gefühl, dass er es genossen hat. Gibt mal nen richtige Lausbub, das weiß ich jetzt schon. Den haut so schnell nichts um.

Jetzt nachdem ich ihn wieder sauber hatte, habe ich gewartet bis er sich endlich mal geschüttelt hat und dann nahm ich ein Handtuch und habe den kleinen Kerl erst mal weitgehend trocken gerubbelt.

Das Ergebnis sieht dann so aus.

Fix und Foxy liegt er im Hundebett und ist selig am schlafen.

Petzi im Bett! Recht fertig mit der Welt!

Ja so ein Hundetag kann schon ganz schön anstrengend sein. Es muss ja unheimlich aufregend sein wenn man draußen mit anderen tollen kann. Wie man dann aussieht? Er sieht sich ja nicht selbst im Spiegel. Ist also für ihn nicht weiter schlimm. Nur für uns Herrchen und Frauchen, denn wir müssen den Dreck ja weg machen.

Aber was macht man nicht alles für so einen kleinen lieben Racker wie unseren Petzi.

Week-End Update: Kippee Ki-yay!

We’re ecstatic when any of our dogs finds their furever family but some of our pups need a little more time with our fosters to find that perfect family for them. It’s extra rough for the pups who need to be the only furkid in a family when they first move in because people often infer something is wrong with being an “only heart.” During his time in foster, Kip continued to learn & grow while waiting for someone to recognize that he already was their perfect pooch. Well, Kip is very pleased to announce that he finally made that special love connection that added a little extra spring to his step, and you can tell how happy he is in his happy tail photo!

Likewise Fiona aka Fi Fi also need some extra time with us, but to every season there is a turn and as she and her litter mates celebrated their first birthdays, she quickly turned the chapter to start her happily ever after with a family that includes a patient dad and TLC alum brother, Joey FKA Ulysses.  Also adopted this week were:  Adrian, Andy, Blackie,  Cereno, Foxy, Ingrid, Luna, Maria (now Rosie), Marilyn, Marsha, Mary & Rudy!

We have even gotten her to the point where we can go out without a leash and she doesn’t run and listens to commands very well!!! (Remember the first 12 hour escape escapade). However, we have learned that she has tremendous separation anxiety. She will literally look for things to chew the moment we leave and we cannot cage her because she shakes sooooo intensely and will harm herself to get out of her cage. So we are working with our vet and with a dog behavior specialist to see what we can do to help her learn that it is ok and we will come back home. We know it’s a slow process and we love her so…. so we will get there.”

“We love our Gracie girl very, very much!  She keeps us busy and brings a lot of joy and love to our lives.  Our vet feels she is doing well physically, which is a blessing, and her little personality is growing and changing day by day. We enrolled her in dog training and the dog trainer mentioned that she feels Gracie may have some valid anxiety issues. We also have a wonderful friend who took care of our beagle when we would go away for a few days and watched Gracie for us for two days and she is also is concerned about anxiety. We summed it up to just being a puppy, but we are now a bit concerned.  We want to do everything we can to help her grow into a healthy, happy dog! Is there anyone at TLC that specializes in these types of issues?   We are open to any suggestions!! “

“Greetings!

Thank you for reaching out in the card. Peppa (formerly known as Kiwi) is doing just fine. On the days that I work her grandpa comes and picks her up to spend the day with him. Peppa is rarely left unattended which she LOVES. In addition to her doggy daycare she has transitioned from typical dry dog food to homemade organic lean food.

After I took her to the vet we found that she has some allergies so the homemade food alleviates her itching and licking. Her knee caps pop in and out too so we are able to give her more omega 3s in her diet. We also have been able to slim her down with the diet so she can walk further distances now!

She is quite the fashionista… my coworker knitted her a sweater! She loves it because it helps her stay warm. She misses the southern heat and hates the PA weather elements. We dress accordingly 🙂

“Prince is doing great! We kept his name, although one might say a good substitute would be King because he has easily become king of the castle. He settled in easily, no signs of trouble adjusting. He is acquiring lots of toys, loves playing and walks, and trying out various laps or couches to cuddle in.

Despite displaying typical energetic Australian cattle dog energy, we can’t believe how much he naps and sleeps all night long.

Prince did really great at his veterinary visit, the staff was impressed. He tested positive for ehrlichia but doesn’t show any symptoms. He also has some pretty bad tartar and like any youngster does not want to brush his teeth. He will need a good dental treatment soon.

Otherwise, we hope to get him to behave more princely when on a leash and then look forward to trying to teach him a trick or two.

He’s a real bundle of love and member of the family now.”

“Bear is now called Senna and he is doing very well! We are very happy and we hope he is too. We have learned he loves swimming and running water as well as to run endlessly without ever getting tired! He is a lot more energetic than we had anticipated but we are adapting to his needs and trying very hard to figure out how many more daily walks and visits to the dog park he requires to not be restless at home. He is wonderful and we are quite in love with him already. But, alas, we do have a couple challenges. 

First, he is the most food-motivated dog we have ever met. He is constantly roaming for food even after being fed. He will chew on absolutely everything hoping it taste good and that has led us to take shoes, paper, cardboard, his leash, his bowl, sunglasses, and many other things out of his mouth. He is also just 1 year old so we are hoping that eventually he will be better at not eating everything. 

Secondly, he does not like being in his crate at all. We are starting from zero and getting him used to it but we are not sure if he will ever be able to safely (and quietly) stay in his crate when we are not around. This is an issue with us because we cannot leave him unsupervised yet due to his obsession with chewing on everything and because the cat is not too happy to share the house with him yet. I hope we can train him to be there without our presence for 2 hours a time so that we can start using walkers and I can start going to work. My boyfriend can take him to work 2-3 times a week but the other two days will be challenging at first once I go back to my normal routine at work. I think we will give Jeri a call to see what she suggests.

“Hi! We decided to change Hailey’s name to Kairi. She seems to be settling in pretty well despite a few minor accidents(which we are currently working on). We are currently in the process of house training her as well as getting her adjusted to a sleeping schedule. We are going to see the vet tomorrow afternoon to do a check up as well as to see what and when she next needs to get vaccinated. Although it has been a rough couple of days we have pushed thru and enjoyed all the time we have spent with her. Attached are a few photos we took the first day she got home.”

We have a vet appointment scheduled for the 1st.  I’m looking into training options, although he is quickly picking up on my cues, so he is clearly a smart dog.

He had his first day at daycare the other day (Dogtopia), and he did very well — got along with all the other dogs.  The only hitch was that it happened to be the dog warden’s day for inspection, so he got cited for not having a license.  The paperwork is on its way to the county treasurer, so it will all work out”

“We changed Jakob’s name to Zeus.    We have a neighbor named Jacob and my son really likes the Greek Gods.     

To date he is doing well.   He is very curious and our 8 year old lab, Gator, tolerates him.   He is starting to mimic Gator and went to the bathroom outside today for the first time.   He does not bark except if he is left alone in his crate.    He is afraid of loud noises which is a good thing when walking him and cars are heard.   He scurries to the grass and sits down.   

  So far so good.   The vets will be either late this week or early next week.”

“ Buddy is amazing and is doing very well.  I just recommended TLC to someone yesterday as they see Buddy and would love a wonderful puppy like him.  Buddy turned 1 this month and enjoyed a lot of goodies.  He loves all food except for certain duck foods.  My kids adore him and he has an internal clock that tells him when they will be home from school.  Buddy completed puppy training last year and will soon be starting next level training.

“Everything is going great! Stanley (previously Gunner) was the greatest decision we have ever made. He brings so much happiness to our lives. I’ve attached some pictures of our baby, he is almost 9 months now, and 37 pounds! We got the DNA test and it said he is 25% chow, 12.5% German Shepard, 12.5% lab, 12.5% boxer, and a mix of terrier and herding.

“Time for our 6 month checkup.  We have complete unconditional love for Jackie.  She does have some interesting habits.  Pairs of shoes have to be separated I into different rooms.  A person can not watch TV with socks on.(She will pull them off.)  A pile of clean wash can not include a bra.(She will take it somewhere else in the house)  The most fun toys are acorns.  She throws them and then chases them.

Walks can be halted by laying on her back.  At times we call her “Wacky Jackie”
