unicorn cushion! This was a Christmas gift for a friend so no WIP photos for spoiler reasons :)
This made me realize that doing any more of these in cross stitch in this scale would be a terrible idea 🤣so my current project is petite point instead! I broke 3 or 4 needles doing this

I need help!!
I am a disabled mom who is the sole income to my 3 people family. I normally work full time at my job but I am currently losing half of my hours at work. While waiting to pick up new projects to fill 20 hours of work i need to spread my stuff so that I can earn more money. If you can reblog that would be amazing! Losing 20 hours means I lose about 1k worth of work a month. So here's what i got for you to look at:
Ebay: https://ebay.com/usr/aydoo-n-sakura
I currently have video game guides, sewing patterns, bjds, and other toys available in this shop.
Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/shop/sakuraproductions
I have blythe doll clothes, human clothes, other different sewn items.
My spouse is taking art commissions here: https://x.com/WellGramarye/status/1811667975990038546
Ko-fi (i also have things in the shop here as well): https://ko-fi.com/salira PayPal: http://paypal.me/stormyjane7 CashApp: $stormyjane7
I am currently hitting up the farmer's markets every weekend to try and pull in more money as well. I'm doing my best but I need help! Please share this around.
Also if you need custom sewn items or vinyl work done, please hit me up i'm willing to do whatever at this point!!

Drafting the Jacket Pattern (Dec 2022 from my TT)
The easiest way to make custom fitted patterns for dolls.
Quick Tutorial Below 👇
Materials: Cling wrap, Painter's Tape, Sharpie, Nail Scissors or Blunted Tip scissors (to protect the doll), muslin fabric
1. Wrap doll torso in at least two layers of clingwrap. Make sure it's flat and even.
2. Put painters tape on top of clingwrap. Make sure it's smoothly applied, but not too tight. If it's too tight you could risk scratching your doll when it's removed.
3. Draw a straight solid or dotted line down the spine and sternum of the doll on the painters tape.
4. Draw the seams of your pattern. You don't have to be even. I only use half the pattern to make the garment symmetrical anyway.
5. Carefully cut the tape and clingwrap off the doll. Cut out the pattern pieces on your sharpie lines. Remove any extra clingwrap.
6. Use the pieces as pattern parts and trace them on paper or muslin. Make a test garment out of muslin before committing yourself.

Doll Pattern (and pictures!) blog
The person who maintains the Antique Lilac blog is a professional photographer and BJD collector. They also have a full page of (free!) sewing pattern tutorials, like this one:
Tumblr media
Iplehouse FID Bianca in "Christine" costume (from Phantom of the Opera), photograph by Antique Lilac.
There are patterns for MSD/FID and tinies (BID), because they tend to prefer Iplehouse dolls.

Unoa Freak 1, 2 and 3 [Review]
Summary
The Unoa Freak series is specifically written to celebrate and discuss Unoa dolls. Created in 2003 by Gentaro Araki, founder of Alchemic Labo, they were one of the first BJD available on the market. They are not as popular as they once were but Unoa dolls come in many common sizes, making these books a great resource to this day. The books also contain tutorials on face-ups, manicures, modding, stringing and more.
These books have been created with so much love and creativity, from the beautifully illustrated covers, to the fashion editorial style spreads for the patterns. They are one of my favourites to take off the shelf just to flick through the pages.
The number of patterns varies by book and each one has been created by different artists, so do take a look at the tables below before purchasing.

Pros
Gorgeous cover art with a partially transparent layer
A real must if you love Unoa dolls
The photography is superb
So many patterns for any size of Unoa doll
Includes a few accessories
Tips and tutorials for common doll styling and mods
Cons
Minimal instructions for the patterns, sometimes just a couple of drawings
The patterns in the book don’t work for every size of Unoa doll, usually each pattern is designed for a particular body sculpt (cries in Unoa Zero)
My copy of UF2 had a few pages come loose from the binding - not sure if it's a common problem but something to keep in mind

Final thoughts
I don’t think I would recommend these as pattern books for beginners, as the patterns are sized so specifically and the instructions are quite minimal, but if you are an experienced sewer I think you will enjoy the variety of styles here. My main reason for recommending these books wouldn't be the patterns though - it's the peek into BJD history that make them special. I think they are a great addition to any bookshelf.

And the skirt(s) design has begone. We start out with a high low circle skirt... That I measured a bit wrong it's supposed to be lower in back. I mathed wrong 😆
Tumblr media
Then for the over skirt I found this design and using it as inspo cut out an even more extreme high low skirt but this one has a train.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Obviously I still need to work on the pleats at the front, and the sides came up a little fast, I'll probably redo that part when I make the final pattern.
Tumblr media
And as a bonus I pinned this scrap piece of leather around her which works for this version but might not for the final dress. But I'll probably still make a basic corset/belt out of it either way.

New sewing pattern in my Etsy shop: Tiny Pear Innerwear! Make some undies and socks for your lil' pear-shaped babies~
Digital download includes illustrated English language instructions and full-size printable patterns.
The socks pattern provides cutting lines for 6 lengths, from short crew socks, to hip-high “tights”.
This is a 1/6 version of my Pear Innerwear pattern set, made specifically for ImomoDoll 1/6, but it can fit other dolls with similar measurements, like the Dividing Line fairies.

:( once more defeated by pattern drafting and math, my archnemesis
i found a different tutorial to try so i'm going to attempt that one to get the basic pattern and then will alter it for the silhouette i want, assuming it turns out ok. I like lomi playground's videos and tutorials, but the pants drafting one is a little hard to follow, and I definitely did something wrong, but have no idea what. which honestly just sums up me doing any flat pattern drafting ever. Except sleeves. somehow of all things, those are the only things that the flat pattern drafting made sense on in my classes xD Draping is much easier for me, but i can't exactly pin into resin, and since i already did the blushing on dollbei jun and am already having issues with it chipping in places, i don't want to try the tape method (I'm also not sure how to make that work for pants anyway).

I found a corset tutorial for BJDs
"the Lazy Way" - you have my attention.
Nice pictures. This tutorial finally explained the one thing I couldn't figure out - why the corset pieces are so oblong/weird-shaped. It's cuz you draw them on the body, and the body ain't square.
I should have figured that out.
So - next up, decide who gets the first goth capsule wardrobe: 1 corset (black) and three skirts (black) - one sheer, one slit, one feathers. If my face-up experience is any barometer, I should probably do Squatch first - easier to start big and then move down.
Still need to go to a fabric store and look for specialty fabric. I haven't the patience to be gluing feathers on fabric. Somebody made that, right?
I'm pretty sure I have some grommets and tools lying around here somewhere... Wait. Shit. I'll need big grommets for Squatch. Grrr.
