[pics, links, and my silliness under the break]
[for caroline: eton's chapel, religious provisions]
info regarding the school with pictures (this is a complete side note: I think once you've* see where joo won lived and understand the people he went to school with [the royal family send their kids to eton], you get a better understanding of why joo won is such a snob. he probably even believes that his own studio flat is somewhat beneath him, considering he went to school with the children of billionaires... and like... we don't know how wealthy the han family (and lee family) is, but they must pretty loaded to send joo won to some of the top schools in england from age 7 to 17**) * i don't mean you you, caroline. i'm more using the figurative you, the "royal" you ** from my understanding, joo won was 7 when he was sent to england and that age is derived from the timeline of the show and by basing it off the korean aging system. meaning, he left korea as a 7-year-old boy and arrived in england as a 6-year-old boy. and he left when he was 16... but was 17 when he came back to korea...???? idk i'm probably wrong also, i'm throwing my joo won choir boy propaganda into the ring:
i can totally see him in the get-up. plus, it just seems so fitting for his personality that he would study the latin songs and become so engrossed with getting his notes perfect. like. perrrrfect. and he would refuse to help the other kids out with their parts, because he's a prick lol i'msemijokingbutnotreallybutlike touring eton college chapel choir goes to korea au when???? (pls know i'm joking... unless 👀. pls ignore me)
here is the choir boys in action to help set the ambiance
sorry to bombard you with all this eton nonsense, i just thought it might help you with your joo won religious trauma headcanon (and i... kinda wanna feed your headcanon for my own selfish reasons lol)
personally, i think a part of the reason why han joo won and lee dong sik are as intense as they are is because they both have some weird religious trauma going on. we know that dong sik is definitely from a christian/catholic background because the show literally opens with his family being christian/catholic/whichever it was, but joo won is. look at that guy. no one talks that much about hell unless you’ve got some deep-rooted catholic or christian trauma. have u ever seen a queer person talk about their relationship with religion. the energy is just different
#yeah sorry again! but i couldn't help myself lol#idk much about eton but i'm gonna give you my guesstimation: eton is a religious school with a functioning chapel... which yikes.#and england is super homophobic especially during the 2000s when joo won would have been living here#so i imagine the posh kids have a special brand of homophobia that different classes* don't fully know about so i can't fully comment on#(*economic/social)#what the environment would have been like for a queer + closeted korean boy. but i can't imagine it would have been the most...#nurturing experience for joo won.#[or it was super okay and he's just been traumatised from partaking in a round of Soggy Biscuit idk lol]#i'm not going to comment too much on dong sik's experience as i haven't got as much knowledge of queer life in korea during the 90s/00s#but i can imagine it isn't ~too~ dissimilar to the rest of the world. i mean.. yeah there's Homo Hill in Seoul but one street of clubs for#queer people doesn't equate to inclusivity of minorities within heteronormative spaces. And considering religious groups have been#protesting pride in 2023... i can make a ~ somewhat informed~ assumption that it wasn't common for queer to be out.#especially those from a religious (catholic/christian) home#lbr for all of us with religious trauma and queer trauma are so attracted to the religious undertones and imagery in beyond evil#it's so subtly interwoven throughout the story. it's not the main focus but it does give context to the character's actions#it just all reeks of good writing and UGH. this post has reminded me of the priest wip i have decomposing in my wip folder. Damnit!#anyway love this. i'm going to piss off and get some sleep xoxo#beyond evil

Guys I’m an old people defender i wholeheartedly believe Wu is a good teacher and person (teen wu and younger was a good character, older wu doesnt have the same effect tho and just falls under a decent character)
Like guys he didn’t mean for Morro to go insane over the green ninja thing, i dont think anyone would’ve expected that to happen with a damn baby. Not to mention that as much as people like to say he abused or neglected Morro or whatever, canonically speaking he hasn’t. In the end what happened to Morro was the effect of his own insecurities and Wu’s lack of understanding.
Wu was not at fault for the whole kai getting obsessed with the green ninja thing or any of the other ninja doing the same, that was all their own faults for being all nosy (as teenage boys with too much power do.)
Wu might’ve overreacted after finding out what Garm did with the letter business in season 4, but just cause he cussed out his BROTHER once (guys they’re siblings, this is the norm and Wu was fully justified to be irritated. Also there will always be a tension between them because they’ve had to fight against each other for either decades, hundreds of years, or thousands of years. They will never have the normal sibling relationship they once only somewhat had.) that was still his brother he just lost and definitely feels guilt at not getting to reconcile PROPERLY with him. Just because you are mad at an individual, genuinely mad at them, does not mean you hate them.
Wu was not at fault for the whole Garmadon getting sent to the under world his clothes literally starts glowing mf was not planning that. He was literally about to die because of Garmadon i think he was a tad preoccupied with that.
Wu is not at fault for Lloyd becoming the green ninja, its shown that he cannot control who gets chosen and was quite obviously hoping it would be the damn teenagers trained to deal with this, not the damn baby who would have to fight his DAD. The whole reason he trained Lloyd so hard after was because he is well aware of how being the green ninja is a curse, especially to Lloyd. He knew a target was on Lloyds back now and for the rest of time and he can do nothing to remove it, only help Lloyd in handling it.
Aspheera is a huge SOGGY BISCUIT I HATE HER I AHTE HEERYEYYE. She is so hypocritical and its all her fault and not Wu’s don’t even try it (i love her character thats why i hate her sm). Wu was literally a baby when the whole betrayal thing happened, and how could he have known his damn students would open up her prison cell and she’d take Kai’s power. Kai had a right to mad about getting dragged into it but even he admits he was reacting the way he was because his powers got stolen. Aspheera was completely at fault for what happened to her.
I wont deny that whatever was going on between Misako and Wu in the early seasons was super weird, but I’m also not going to call it betrayal or cheating for Garmadon because Garmadon had been gone for a good decade and tbh it was rlly bad writing of writers trying to shove romance everywhere.
He took in a bunch of teenagers, thats something i wont deny to also be bad. But don’t you find it convenient that Wu took them each in during separate times of need? Cole, deep in grief, needed to become a ninja because it completed him. Jay, desperate for a place and purpose in this world, needed to be a ninja to become confident and aware of his worth. Zane, confused and lost, needed to be a ninja to find his own place in the world, needed to be a ninja because he needed to have a purpose, a home. Kai, angry and traumatised, needed to become a ninja to become the best version of himself. Wu knew of each of them, and only took them in when he knew they needed an outside source to lead them.
Literally i dont understand why people paint him as a villain. He has never been one. It’s like how Mystake said, the only reason one becomes wise is through their own mistakes, their own life and experiences. Wu is an old, old man. He is right when he says he’s not like how he used to be.
I could keep going, but God guys. Stop mischaracterising characters! You can dislike them all you want, its your life, but don’t change what they have done and call them a bad person when that isn’t true.
You can call Wu a character with mistakes, a character heavily in the light grey area of good and evil.
WU IS NOT A BAD GUY GUYS STOP CALLING HIM ONE 😭
#lego ninjago#ninjago#morro ninjago#ninjago morro#lloyd ninjago#wu ninjago#ninjago wu#ninjago sensei wu#kai ninjago#nya ninjago#garmadon#emperor garmadon#garmadon x misako#young garmadon#ninjago garmadon#zane ninjago#cole ninjago#jay ninjago#ninjago misako#they were all destined for the worse things imaginable#and when those things happen you make mistake#most you can never go back on#but you learn and you grow and you make less#but they still happen#people tend to forget destiny is a huge driving factor in Ninjago#literally those kids would have to do what they did anyways they lowkey wouldve went through it anyways#with or without wu#be happy it was with wu😭

to recap:
the 10-1 game to edmonton near the end of the season was heartbreaking to thom
only bested by the "traumatising" tampa bay 8-0 game early in the season, after which he got sent down a little while after
"shout out pat brisson" and he did. twice!
thom spoke about knowing connor bedard through their mutual friend kent johnson and some nhlpa events at hte beginning of the year, there's a whole little section with them talking about the heartbreaker celly that bedard has done
the michigan student section (children of yost) is certified Crazy by bords, and he thinks its insane that people can find other teams' ex girlfriends or tinder profiles, etc to chirp them for it
he went golfing in south carolina early in the off-season, and when the host said "that's such a white thing to do", his response was "oh, i know"
praised boko imama, said he's a different beast
talked about how he loved to chirp at michigan, but doesn't do as much now, in the professional leagues
he's never technically been in a nhl or ahl fight, but does provide some insight into how he chooses a guy to grab onto during scrums (doesn't pick the shortest guy all the time, but also says 'oh shit' if he grabs a big guy)
there's something about the squid game tv show and biscuits? they're making a joke but they're laughing over it, so it's unclear to me what they were trying to convey. maybe that thom is soft like dalgona candy 💀
said that the title of his book would be "bwater" which is a play on his last name (de l'eau in french is "of water" so bordeleau is similar). this is also when he raises his glass all fancy
hates tom holland's spiderman because he's a big iron man fan and he feels like people are connecting the two characters too much now
legitimately goes on a rant about how iron man is one of the best mcu characters, with power to rival all the reality-breaking characters, and also says it's not tony's fault for creating ultron
would want gabriel macht from suits to play him in a movie (although he refers to macht as "the guy who played harvey spector")
#that's about all the interesting stuff#let me know if i missed anything all the french people out there#because my translation skills are b-tier at best#thomas bordeleau#Youtube

This is not a drill: both The Butterfly Assassin and The Hummingbird Killer are currently only £0.99 on Kindle!
These are the first two books in my trilogy about a traumatised teenage assassin trying, and failing disastrously, to live a normal life in a fictional closed city in Yorkshire. And when I say failing, I mean she killed someone in the first chapter of book one, so...
If you've been looking for:
Dark, stabby YA without a romance subplot
Actually morally grey characters who do genuinely bad things
Traumatised characters grappling with all the ways their experiences have shaped them
Friendship, street art, and Esperanto
Subtextual (well, mostly) critique of the military and arms industry
A main character arc that's less of an arc and more of an out-of-control downward spiral off a cliff
An ace/aro protagonist with food disabilities, PTSD, and a number of other chronic health issues, plus a generally queer cast of secondary characters
Badass librarians, secret revolutionary hideouts, and gluten-free biscuits
Then this is a good day for you, because you can get all of that and more!*
Full details and content warnings are on my website. As far as I'm aware, the 99p offer only applies to Amazon UK, but there may be other promotions elsewhere. I don't know when it'll end, but as of 02/07/23 it's current for both books. Please spread the word!
*Actual gluten-free biscuits not included.

Yes!
And what you said in the tags about Simone leaving so swiftly, and immediately creating a distance between her and Tai (before she knew about Biscuit), bugged me a little aswell. Because they have made Simone this helpful, kind, supportive, caring person. It wouldn't make sense to then just leave when your wife is essentially having a bit of a breakdown. But I also thought about it a little and the conversation in the car after they took Sammy to therapy, where Simone says to Tai she's very closed off to help, Simone is clearly very frustrated about it. It indicated to me that Simone has over the years tried to get Tai help and has singaled 'hey my wife is not as OK after that major trauma event as she appears to be'. And I mean how can you not after being together for 15 years, sometimes the person you're with will start to notice the subconscious stuff you do to manage your stress or whatever that you yourself don't necessarily see and then wil start to see how frequently you do it. Because I highly doubt sleepwalking is her only coping method.
When Tai reacted the way she did on that bed instead of accepting the caring supportive help Simone was offering, Simone was done. She made a decision, this marriage is over, I can't live with someone who is like this anymore, I need to protect our child. If there was any residual doubt in her mind, which is fair, that all went out of the window the moment she saw that dogs head.
Wish we got more of them, though, but hey, I want better for Simone. And that is right now, definitely not Tai.
(And as much as I like the reunion and the AMAZING chemistry between adult Tai and Van, these two should also not be together, GET SOME ACTUAL THERAPY PLEASE)
hi novel! do you have any meta / thoughts on taissa’s relationships with simone and sammy? I really want them to go into that more, similar to the shauna-jeff-callie storyline in s2
Simone and Sammy are what should have been. The life Taissa would have led if they’d never crashed. Even if it wasn’t Simone, even if it was Van, the idea of the perfect happy family is what matters. I think it matters that she’s the only one we see have a warm moment with her parents before the crash; that would shape her whole outlook. Grow up, go to good schools, get a great job, marry a beautiful woman, build a life that makes sense. And we know from Tai telling Shauna about her dream life: this is exactly the path she takes. Shauna’s dreams change utterly as soon as they crash; Tai, the bastion of repression, doesn’t change hers at all. She comes home, and she’s different, she’s traumatized, she has lost and hurt and has all these horrible dark secrets—but she believes if she just works hard enough, she can overwrite the shadows with the light of a life she’s wanted all along.
The problem with this as it applies to Simone and Sammy is they’re not plans, they’re not dreams, they’re people—and to have the meaningful, wonderful relationships that make that Perfect Life, she needs to be able to communicate with them as such. And she doesn’t. She doesn’t let herself. She won’t explain anything of what she went through to her wife; even when push comes to panicked shove, she just demands Simone leave her alone. She doesn’t even feel that “it” factor when it comes to Simone, because she can’t let herself. She’s forever tied intensity of feeling to a loss of control, a loss of who she was “meant to be” before the accident.
Her family, her job, all of it is emblematic of Before Tai. The Tai who didn’t have a sleepwalking problem, who never watched her girlfriend get nearly mauled to death, who never ate her friends to stay alive, who never gave into the hunt. It can’t ever be healthy, for her or for Simone and Sammy, until she accepts that Before Tai is gone. She’s been stitched together with the Taissa who survived the wilderness. And accepting that runs contrary to the perfect life she’s tried so hard to create. She can fall back into old habits with her old friends and old love, but the new version of her? That Taissa isn’t allowed those behavior patterns.
It’s really interesting looking at her family vs Shauna’s, because 1) they’re the only two of the core six to build a traditional family post-rescue, and 2) Shauna tries to play the same game—except the “dream life” she’s living isn’t Shauna’s at all. It’s Jackie’s. Or what she feels she stole from Jackie. And because of that, because Jeff and Callie were never Shauna’s dream, I think it makes it a little easier to let them into the darkness. Tai won’t let herself do that, because it’d be admitting a kind of defeat, and that really isn’t Tai’s style.
#yellowjackets#simone abara#taissa turner#sammy#poor POOR Biscuit#and Steve#van palmer#this show is doing an amazing representation of how untreated trauma can manifest itself#and influence and perhaps also traumatise#and I would argue in the case of Sammy and Callie that yes these kids are traumatised#because their mothers are traumatised and are not actively seeking help for it#i actually feel really bad for them#callie and Steve#becasue they now also need therapy#and with callie i dont see that happening any time soon#Sammy is lucky he has a parent that is removed from all of this and decided to protect her child#yellowjacket spoilers#tawny cypress#rukiya bernard

Hi, Alto!!! It’s the cheese anon :)
I hope that you’re feeling better! Here, have some pumpkin soup to help you feel better, and some steamy hot chocolate alongside my mum’s homemade chocolate-chip biscuits and brownies (all made so that I can eat them :D)
Anyways!
I really wanted to lay off of the angst for a few seconds (Augh….. as much as Sephy needs to suffer and burn, I do like to see the sweet thing) and give you an idea:
AU where Hojo wasn’t a shoddy father, someone who genuinely cared about his son and his every need. Someone who would make sure that the procedures he was doing weren’t painful and he never did them too much. Never did anything to intentionally hurt him. Told him the truth and helped him work through it.
Basically AU where Seph isn’t traumatised af and had a good childhood (he’s still the socially awkward baby who doesn’t like photos though) but there are still some bad memories. Like…. I can see him having a fear of needles and sterile environments despite Hojo’s best efforts because what child would like being poked with needles even though there was no intention to harm?
Bless you, Cheese Anon. I'm feeling much better, thank you ❤️
Sephiroth probably would have grown up sheltered and awkward, but is also loyal to Hojo and uninterested in leaving the lab solely because Hojo provides him with a sense of safety and security. He really just wants to be a scientist like his father, totally willing in allowing himself to be documented and constantly observed if it means he gets to spend more time in Hojo's company. Sephiroth latches onto people who are kind to him. And he's really the only person on Gaia who seems to adore the horrible scientist, viewing him with hero worship, respect.
He's still very skittish due to some less than pleasant memories. And he's ultimately still slightly uncomfortable at being a glorified test subject for Shinra. But he's seemingly happy, or at least happier.
Until he finds out the truth.
Then Sephiroth breaks Hojo's neck with his own hands, burning all of Midgar to the ground.

10 Characters/10 Fandoms /10 Tags
Thank you for the tag @two-hands-toward-the-sun, this took me on a deep delve of my fandom past! Time to roll out my gaggle of glorious bastards again...
1. Ken Ichijouji - Digimon 02
Babies first blorbo. Puppy kicking, whip weilding antagonist who giveth not a shiteth. With a soul as black as his gloriously groomed locks. Who, by the power of love is transformed into the soggiest little puddle of twink you ever did see. Tragic backstory ✔️ A smorgasbord of issues ✔️ A realtionship with their rival/best friend so obbsessive, you're going to have a harder time proving this ship isn't a thing than it is. ✔️ Ken Ichijouji came with everything a young, naive millennial needed to make their first glorious steps into the world of fandom.
2. Ryou Bakura/Yami Bakura/Theif King Bakura - (Same body, they count as one!) Yu-Gi-Oh
Ryou Bakura - Adorable British cupcake with the soul of a traumatised lovecraftian cultist. Staring into the abyss while having afternoon tea. Gothic horror in a cream knit.
Yami Bakura - Actual murder floof, the walking personification of a horror podcast. In his wake trails body gore, supernatural mystery and gay subtext. Part demon, part Egyptian theif, 100% bringing sexy back. (bonus points: Florence)
Thief King Bakura - Traumatic back story maketh homicidal rogue. Wears red, has a social circle made up of ghosts and snake monsters... Is this not prime husband material?
3. Starscream - Transformers
Darling little duplicitous second in command of the Decepticons. Not just any 'Little Shit', THE 'Little Shit'. Simulatiously the dumbest and cleverest bot in any room. And that, my friends, takes a particular breed of talent. Negative traits, scheming, petty, fabulous. Postive traits, scheming, petty, fabulous. Repetitive attempts to off Megatron, play of either the power or fore variety. Not sure which, could be both.
4. Darth Maul/ General Armitage Hux- Star Wars
I will not and cannot choose a favourite between them. Instead, watch with wonder and awe as I neatly compress them into the same blurb...
Sad meow meow with self-worth issues does galactic war crimes to prove 'daddy' wrong. What do you mean my fixation with thwarting my archnemeis can't be classed as a hobby/career goal/life ambition? My voice can launch a thousand ships... Different circumstances, same truth. Such a pathetic little sausage, you'll want to sit them down and feed them soup. But they know atleast 101 ways to kill you with the spoon... So best not risk it.
5. Crowley - Supernatural
The diabolical king of cunt serving. Me and my athletic calves are doing this right thing for all wrong reasons...And you can't prove other wise! Alignment: Risk it for a biscuit. Four step program to deal with all life's problems: 1: flirt at it, 2: shout at it, 3: throw (please pick your chosen Winchester or, if pushed, tailor) at it. 4:... Yell bollocks and follow with a whiskey chaser.
6. Desire/Destiny of the Endless - The Sandman
Again, not picking. Desire, my darling little hell kitten. Destiny, my inglorious bastard in brown...
This is my world, you MFs all just live in it!
My emotions... Which I do not have, are the route cause of everyone else's problems.
Ah humanity, the dust bunnies upon which I sneeze.
Even in a glorified bathrobe, I'm still better then you, and you know it.
It is a truth universally acknowledged, that Dream of the Endless is a f*cking dumb ass.
7. Remy Lebeau (Gambit) - Xmen, Marvel Comics
Marvel looked at their collection of motley mutant misfits. And realised they had a morally dubious, disaster bi shaped hole to fill... And there Remy Lebeau has been for for 30 slutty, slutty years and counting. Sex in fushia pink spandex. Single handily keeping thievery in Americas top 50 kinks. Slowly exhausting the world's supply of playing cards... Must be considered a traitor to the cause atleast once a decade to keep his street cred. Must be considered a secret Summers brother atleast once a decade to keep his ego in check.
8. Jonathan Crane (Scarecrow) - Batman (DC)
Scythe wielding, reigning and defending Trick or treat world champion since 1941. The physical attributes of a Giacometti sculpture with the rustic aesthetic of the folk horror genre. Grumpy old man syndrome dialed up to eleven. Pets: Craw the crow, Nightmare the raven... Edward Nygma. Built a life manifesto based on a gothic novel... Oh captain, my captain.
9. Alfie Solomons - Peaky Blinders
All hail the great arisen god of Margate. Who looked upon Tommy Shelby and called him smol. Weilds tomfuckery like a pepper spray straight up the jacksie. Views betrayal as a bonding exercise. Somewhere in his words are the the meaning of life. Still awaiting the lab results as to whether this man is the anthropomorphic personification of chaotic neutral. Not even part of the egg and spoon race. Will still manage to win with a watermelon and a novelty spork.
10. Elias Bouchard - The Magnus Archives
(art by @felix-krain and @caligosatchel)
Cluedo character brought to life by malevolent eldritch entity for sexy end of the world shinnanigans. I suspect either Proffesor Plum or Reverend Green, professional opinions vary. Maintains the inability to move more than one square at a time when enacting nefarious schemes. Still has a preference for homicide by kitchenware. Comes with all the British, arch dilf energy of an Agatha Cristie villain. Taking the horrors from the hands of privileged elite and unleashing them on unsuspecting white collar workers. Eye, chin and tits first.
Whelp, that's my ten fictional characters/fandoms. Men folk (and Desire) addition. When I say I like them on the morally grey dulux colour chart. I'm not exaggerating. 😅
I'm tagging, at your pleasure @mashumaru @aisalynn @bobbole @tickldpnk8 @writing-for-life @marvagon @missingrache @rriavian @jazzy-a and @ibrithir-was-here

Routine
So. Ma asked about you again.
She's concerned, she says. But I can see through her. She is just one step removed from all of those people who had debated for hours why you could've tried to kill yourself. Artificial sympathy and the shaking heads. Kids these days— You'd be pleased to know that they didn't water down your ruthlessness to me. It was like you had always wanted: dramatic, shocking.
You once said that our little town is detached, as if somehow it broke off from the rest of the world. Nothing interesting happens here, and you hated it. People here are boring. We could make the same jokes day after day, and everybody would still laugh. Routines, routines, routines. You were driven half-mad with them. But now you were almost dead, and I wonder if this was your plan all along. Perhaps you thought that if you died, you'd become like those characters who had stories written about them. Those perfect girls you had always envied, who had things happening to them. And you said nothing ever happens here.
But you didn't die. And it was worse. It was like watching an ocean wave, the way the story spread from person to person. Overblown, exaggerated, each time it was retold. They came to our house three hours later. Don't worry. I had made sure not to react. No one suspected anything.
After all, we're not friends.
Ma had opened the door that evening, and two of them came in. I hold a particular dislike for the older one, so I had tried to leave. But something about them tonight kept me there, tied to the floor. They sat, commented on the weather. Like I said, routines. You could see the barely reigned impatience in the way they fidgeted, in the way they wiped off their foreheads. Tea and biscuits were placed on the table, and Baba came downstairs. Some more small talk, and then, one of them lowered his voice to a disturbing note. It sent chills down my blood— just the voice itself. "That house by the store? The daughter had attempted suicide three hours ago."
They detailed the decisive scars on your forearm, the blood that stained your bed, the way you were blue and cold by the time people got to you. Even your parents, grief-stricken and traumatised, were not released from their collective contempt. How could they have been so careless? Had you a proper upbringing, you wouldn't have grown so melodramatic. But then again, one of them had said in a conspirational air, maybe it had something to do with an affair? Kids these days—
You were saved by a miracle, they say.
I wish I could know how you feel about that. You've always been so enchanted with miracles and fairy tales. You told me that so many times, but like most of our conversations, I didn't know how to reply. The questions choke my throat now. Did you finally grow out of the extraordinary? Did you even want a miracle that day?
I'd never get the answers.
But you finally got your adventure. By tomorrow, you'll be thousands of miles away from me, away from this boring town. And now, I'm the one who's slowly bleeding out. Not because of you, mind it. No. We're not friends.
But because I could have saved you, and I chose not to.
- @nosebleedclub 's prompt for April 24: routine.

Can we talk about this scene for a second?
I actually thinkk about this scene a LOT. Because I kinda get it but it also confuses me?? And since I just read another post about it and finally finished reading all the books as well I feel like it's time to write down all of my (maybe obvious??) thoughts. So let's grab a tea and some biscuits and take a look into it. Also I'm curious to see what all of you think about it as well! Let me know :)
Beware: BIG Book spoilers ahead!!
I'll begin with something that I'm pretty sure about: the Lockwood part is just the show’s way of already showing the “Lockwood's gonna die for you”-messages Lucy gets after The Hollow Boy in the books. And that’s SO neat. She already knows how reckless he acts. She gives him shit for it all the time in the show. It's such an important part of the characters and their dynamics and pretty much Lucy's whole drive for the last two books. I love that they already show us a little glimps of that.
Now we get to the more confusing parts for me: WTF is this complilation? The most obvious connection all of these people have is that they're either dead or dying. But why is Hugo Blake in this? Hugo is alive, right? Wouldn't it make more sense to have Annabel in there instead of him? At least she is dead?
Maybe another reason these people show up in the compilation is because Lucy thinks that them ending up in these situations are her fault? Maybe these are just some of the most traumatising moments of her life (or would be in case of Lockwood) and that's why she sees them?
But what if this whole scene some kind of foreshadowing about the other side?
The whole scene takes place while Skull is looking into the mirror. While he is looking at the other side. What if this is a compilation of people who have had a glimpse at the other side? From the books we know that all of them are either currently on the other side, have passed it, have at least seen it or a gonna see it. Hugo is still a little mystery in there but what if he is actually part of the Orpheus Society in the show? It would make sense to make him part of it. He would also get to be more than just some random guy we see once lmao. That would make the whole scene a smart spoiler that is kinda hidden but also very big if you think about it.
Or maybe ... I'm just trying to interpret too much into this scene and they just went for the most dramatic scenes they had :'D If you got this far: Thanks for reading all of my rambling. I'd love to hear your thoughts! Maybe I'm overlooking something and all of this is way easier to explain lmao. Anyway have a cute gif of Lockwood winking.

hi! I might be childish but I am 100% agreeing with McGonagall not getting Ginny’s Christmas card…🙃
Can you please tell us some about her mindset? Is it just trying to get the school through this year, is it really though love, remorse or..?
the mcgonagall discourse continues to tickle me no end. anon i for one applaud an encourage any and all childishness. also i agree! dropping people from the christmas card list because you've got major beef with them is a time-honoured and noble tradition and ginny is right to uphold it
i don't want to say too much that will end up in the fic but! i think mcgonagall in beasts thinks she is trying to Do Her Best - for ginny, for the other students under her care, but also for hogwarts as an institution, which is an institution whose mission and ethos she really believes in. a lot of this is is (understandably, and not necessarily wrongly) bound up in her loyalty to her mentor, dumbledore, someone she didn't always agree with but whose vision for hogwarts she consistently throws her weight behind.
minnie's got a huge amount on her plate stepping up as headmistress in 1998. she's the headteacher of a student body who are individually and collectively traumatised, who are only just beginning to process what happened to them, and whose traumas are extremely complex and diverse and don't really have the tools to grasp each other's often very different but no less serious sufferings (obviously the the pureblood/half-blood students who endured life under the carrows during the war and the DA lot who actively resisted the carrows and paid a huge price for it, but also muggleborn students who were on the run, and all those who were in azkaban.) she's dealing with a lot of guilt for all that she couldn't shield her students from (more to come on this), and she's sincere in her belief that young people who have gone through enormous upheaval need structure, routine, accountability, and a kind of compassion that manifests as someone saying no, you can't punch whoever you like because they said something horrible to you. you do have to hand your homework in. you do need to not sneak out of the castle at night and make everyone worry about you. partly this is generational - she was born in 1935, she has a set of ideas about acceptable and unacceptable ways of expressing your distress as a child. but i think this is also a not inherently cruel or abusive child welfare philosophy, even if it doesn't really take on a lot of what we know of how trauma manifests in young people and adolescents. minerva would say: it's my job to look after my students, i'm the adult and authority figure, i need to reimpose and safeguard the social contract that holds an institution like a school together, and also to make sure that i care about each individual student while also managing the impact of students' behaviours on each other. (in canon, she repeatedly does enforce the rules in strong terms and doesn't make excuses when harry - a character who is well within his rights to act out given his life experiences - gets in a fight or fucks up and breaks the rules in ways that meaningfully impact his peers.)
when it comes to ginny, i think mcgonagall sees lots of herself in her. they share a fierce protective streak, they're both very loyal, they're both incredibly stubborn, and they both are petty as hell and show their emotions by way of biscuit/christmas card deprivation. but that also means mcgonagall expects more of ginny than most, especially as someone who rode hard for the hogwarts student body the preceding year. mcgonagall wants ginny to help her keep hogwarts standing and continue to play the part of a role model for her peers as someone (she knows) they look up to. ginny does not want to do that. and mcgonagall's massively frustrated that ginny has (also understandably) held her hands up and said fuck that, role model schmole model, i've gone through it and you're all now saying back to normal and pretending it never happened. what's hard is that they're both kind of right! but neither is able to say it. and that's why gryffindor girlies are so fun and massively annoying to smash into each other when doing the literary equivalent of playing dolls (writing fanfiction)

Wow "12 hour session"!!! 😳 I volunteer as a tribute.
When did he say that I wanna listen to it?
I am bad at remembering the source of each situation. It is an episode of Ear Biscuits for sure, I believe it’s the one they talk about the 13 minute quickie too (although Rhett was traumatised and mentioned it in several episodes afterwards, I believe it was the first time they talked about it). But I don’t remember date or title. If someone knows, please tell us.
Meanwhile I was just watching the GMMore again, it was so funny. Link looked so defeated as Rhett was messing with him. The sigh, the resigned weak smile, the “I know what you are doing”. Such a sweet little moment.
Btw I think the reason they were arguing about this is that Chug, Sip, Spill is not a good analogy for Fuck, Marry, Kill. In FMK the best choice is obviously Marry (someone you are willing to fuck and spend quality time with for the rest of your life). So Link is right. But Chug, Sip, Spill gives different vibes. Chug is like when something is so delicious you just have to gulp it down, sip is nice but controlled or it could also be your reaction if you are not crazy about your drink so Rhett’s thinking here makes more sense.
What I am trying to say is that marry involves many fucks but sip does not involve many chugs so this is not a good analogy, hence the disagreement.

hello!! first things first, i’ve been following your blog for a reaally long time now… your posts helped me A LOT when i was first going vegan and they still do!! i’m especially thankful for your eBook. you are doing a really great job educating others about veganism aand i think you should be proud of yourself 🧡
however, i’m writing this mostly because i need advice. none of my friends are vegan, so i can’t talk to them about this... and i can’t find any useful information online. i would appreciate it veerrry much if you shared your thoughts about my situation.
my younger cousin ivy (7 and a half years old) has been asking me about my food choices a lot. a couple of weeks ago, ivy and my mother had baked biscuits with eggs, cottage cheese, honey and cow’s milk in them. they looked GREAT. i would happily eat them if they were vegan, but i had to refuse :(
this made ivy really sad. she actually cried. later that evening, she came to my room and asked me why didn’t i try their biscuits… so i explained that i just can’t eat eggs, cow’s milk, honey and other animal products. but that made her even more confused! she keeps asking why don’t i eat these things and… honestly, i don’t know how to explain my veganism to her.
i mean, i can explain it to adults, but with children it’s much more complicated. i don’t want to lie or sugarcoat the truth AND i don’t want to push my views on her or be traumatizing! after all, ivy is not even my own sister. her mom would get mad at me if she decided to go vegan too…
so i decided to ask you, do you have any advice about explaining veganism to children? i’ve been avoiding this topic with ivy but this can’t go on forever. however, it’s okay if you don’t know how to help… i think i’ll figure it out eventually.
thanks in advance!
Thank you for the kind words anon; I’m glad my blog has been helpful to you.
I think that you explaining yourself and how you live is not pushing your beliefs on anyone, I know we are all really conscious about that but it’s important for children to understand that other people live and think differently than they and their parents do. Children are more intelligent than adults give them credit for and they appreciate frankness, just tell her exactly why. You shouldn’t go into any graphic details or anything, as you probably wouldn’t with an adult, just put it in very simple terms.
Thank her for the food and make a big deal of how grateful you are, but then you can explain your non-participation with something like: “I am a vegan, which means I don’t eat anything that comes from an animal.” When she questions you on why, tell her you think that animals shouldn’t be used for our food, clothing etc. Kids shouldn’t be traumatised but they also shouldn’t be lied to, she isn’t your kid or your sister, but I think you still owe it to her to be honest and not try to just dismiss her. It’s unlikely she will go off and go vegan, she’ll probably just find it interesting.
