So my husband is a big ol' nerd and for his birthday this year he really wanted to have a party themed on the video game "Factorio". So being the ridiculous person I am, I came up with this. I found an oval shaped lazy susan that had a conveyor belt vibe, and after a round of a board game called "Factory Funner" the guests got to assemble it, and then I started bringing out all our various courses.
The idea was that everyone would have to assemble parts of their meal, just like you assemble all the components of your machines and factories in the game. They had to make their own soup, salad, sushi cake, smores etc. There were also some thematically appropriate treats that were ready to go like the "iron and copper ore" chicken nuggets and gear shaped shortbread cookies. I might have used two whole things of luster dust at this party. lol.
All in all it was a lot of work, even with people putting together a lot of their food on their own (look at those cute sushi cubes) but it was a ton of fun.

Jewish Damian Wayne thoughts
Ok gentile here
I'm trying to get back into writing fic and I'm working on a DamiJon fic featuring Jewish Damian.
Like, there are so many amazing possibilities for this! At some point in living with Bruce (who's canonically ethnically Jewish but was not raised Jewish) he decides to go to Sabot service one week. He ends up really liking it and going every week (or as many as possible) until he decides to get serious about being Jewish. Ra's would probably disown him for not bowing to him and valuing God above him. Good riddance if you ask them.
Eventually he would have a bar mitzvah (which would be a huge event because Wayne) and the entire Batfamily would be there. I guess Superman would keep an eye on Gotham for a bit?
Bruce, Alfred, Dick, Cass, Tim, Steph, Duke and Kate are all invited of course. (Jon and Lois too, a shame Clark couldn't make it)
Jason and Talia have to get creative. Talia is probably crouched in the rafters somewhere. Jason is security.
Mara al Ghul (Damian's cousin) might be hiding in the shadows somewhere. Who knows, does she love him? Does she hate him? Bruce's old friend from boarding school Oliver Queen is invited. Minhkhoa Khan somehow managed to get invited. Harley Quin and Poison Ivy are there, invited or not, cheering loudly. Cassandra asked to invite one of her model friends, Kori Anders. No one can stand to say no to Cass, not even Damian.
Everyone got very drunk at the party and Bruce did take Khoa home. He does not regret it. He does wish he remembered it. Barbra did not drink a drop, knowing she'd have to remove embarrassing pictures and videos from the internet. (If she keeps a little bit for blackmail no one would blame her. That shit was gold)
Damian doesn't care as long as no one gets murdered nothing gets set on fire and he gets to have one day where nothing goes wrong. He has way more fun than he expected.

i know im not the only one who's mad we don't know more about seijuro's (current, and past) family dynamic... what do you think about shiori and masaomi's marriage, or them as people or parents, do you maybe have some hcs about them?
The Akashi family headcanons
-Masaomi and Shiori were arranged to be married, like many in their circles. -But Masaomi really did love Shiori. I've read enough of the 'neglectful/abusive father who allowed himself to be softened and tampered by his kind wife' trope to get this vibe from Masaomi. -However, like I stated in an earlier post, the fact they only had 1 kid and Masaomi's lack of interest in parenting gives me the feeling they only had Seijuro for duty. -Just think of the fact that outside of Midorima the GOM doesn't knows shit about Seijuro's homelife. No coming over, no birthday parties? I have a sense Masaomi doesn't really likes children at all to be frank. -Shiori on the other hand, did seem to display some actual interest in being Seijuro's mom and I can imagine that if she had remained alive, she actually would have allowed the GOM to come over for a birthday party. -Also, Shiori was the one to arrange Seijuro's birthday parties and to actually listen to what kind of party and presents he wanted before she died. Masaomi's only input was the budget and discussing the party with his bussiness partners who had kids, so he could invite some of them. -Masaomi's love for Shiori is also why he immediately tried to erase her presence from the household after she died. I can imagine, that in a culture that deems seeking proffesional help as a weakness, Masaomi views going through the grief process to be a weakness, and he's avoiding having to actually face his pain for as long as he can outrun it. -This also reflects in the way he raised Seijuro, and why he never received some therapy and medication despite clearly having some form of a psychiatric disorder. -I feel like he might have been seriously conflicted about Seijuro's disorder too. Because whilst a weakness in Masaomi's eyes, Seijuro's second personality fell perfectly in line with Masaomi's personal philosophy whilst his original personality seems to be very much influenced by his mom. -Seijuro healing thanks to Kuroko, whilst a good thing on its own, is only proving to Masaomi that his son can manage his mental health problems all on his own and that seeking help, even in the face of a potential relapse, is unnecessary.

“I guess that depends on what we’re expected to do, like if I’m expected to dress up like a clown, because I’m not doing that!
But the likelihood of me being mad about this is pretty slim, buddy.”

It has been quite a ride getting here but it was well worth it, a few days ago was my 20th birthday and I had the great privilege and honour of being treated to many pub lunches and a pizza night with my closest friends and my beloved girlfriend. Here I’ve posted some of the fun and major events of my life thus far, the first holiday with my girlfriend Ryley in Jim Thorpe, my graduation, and my confirmation into the Episcopal Church. I also wanted to include my first photo of me at 20 holding my birthday candle (yes the scented candle was my birthday candle). I would like to thank everyone on this app for being here for me and being my friends, I would also like to thank those who wished me a happy birthday and celebrated with me that day. Thank you all and I hope to hear from you all soon!

Scarlet's birthday party yesterday at the ice rink. Was really good, even if my feet hurt like hell 😂
Scarlet's friend Sophie was the only one to show up, but she was so lovely so that's all that matters really!

(I asked my friends for like . questions to ask because I couldn't think of any)
what's a story you'd like to tell?
let me sit you down and tell you the story behind this photograph:
Tumblr media
the year is 2013. i am in fifth grade. i come from a pretty strict family, and that combined with my own social anxiety and other circumstances means that in my entire childhood, i only had two (2) actual birthday parties.
this was the first.
(it should also be noted that this is the only birthday party that my family actually planned, as the other birthday party—in 2018—was a surprise party organized by some of my dearest friends.)
so it’s 2013, and among the fifth-grade class at [redacted small private school in the midwest], parties at roller skating rinks are quite popular. naturally, yours truly desperately wants to make a good impression for her first-ever birthday party with actual friends outside the family. so of course she decides in her infinite preteen wisdom to have said party at a roller skating rink.
there is exactly one problem with this idea: i cannot roller skate without assistance.
so you can imagine about how well this went over at the party.
HOWEVER, my older brother saw his struggling younger sister and decided to save her from total embarrassment by gallantly assisting her around the rink, and my dad snapped the above photo.
as stated above, the party went sufficiently badly that i did not have another one for five years (and once again: that one only happened because of some VERY ingenious friends), but at least there was this moment.
for a variety of reasons, my older brother and i no longer really speak to each other beyond the absolute bare minimum, but we were both much more innocent then. ah, life…
is this a story i like telling? no, not really. but is it worth telling? sure!

Science Parties in Brooklyn: The Perfect Mix of Fun and Learning
Science is everywhere and thus it's important to instill curiosity and discovery in young minds. Hosting science parties in Brooklyn is a great method of ensuring lifelong interest in this fascinating subject. In fact, these science-themed birthday parties for kids near me are designed around activities, topics and experiments that engage kids and adults alike. Decorations of galaxy posters, banners of scientific symbols and bright chemical element displays can turn the event into something unforgettable. Incorporating star and planet exploration, including those in space, can be an added knowledge for them.
To ensure the success of science parties in Brooklyn, build an environment that is fun and easy to approach while encouraging questions. Give children the chance to ask their questions and take an active part in the experiments. Experiments need to be catered to the age group in order to maintain excitement. Younger kids are perfect for slime worms, indoor snow and radioactive silly putty. Older children will add a level of intrigue with advanced experiments: chemistry, biology, or physics. Having a professional entertainer /instructor like Science Party Animals really lets them put on captivating demonstrations. These birthday parties for kids near me are surely promising, both educative and entertaining, for a lifetime memory.
