I should make more undeniably trans spy pieces of both spies/all three, but Black Spy especially. With the recent uptick in the internet's interest in Spy vs Spy, this may either play out as the fanbase equivalent of firing rent-lowering gunshots or opening the floodgates. Only time will tell, but what's for certain is that I need to get more annoying.

I want to share a post from The Guardian that was published today.

“Inside the building, staffers said that Doge cultivated a culture of fear.

“It’s an extreme version of ‘who do you trust, when and how?’” said Kristina Drye, a speechwriter at the agency, who watched dozens of senior colleagues escorted out of the building by security. “It felt like the Soviet stories that one day someone is beside you and the next day they’re not.”

People started meeting for coffee blocks away because “they didn’t feel safe in the coffee shops here to even talk about what’s going on”, she added.

“I was in the elevator one morning and there was an older lady standing beside me and she had glasses on and I could see tears coming down under her glasses and before she got off her elevator she took her glasses off, wiped her eyes, and walked out,” she said. “Because if they see you crying, they know where you stand.””

Everyone should read this article about “DOGE” tearing apart USAID (and then read more reporting about how they are being allowed to do the same to other US federal entities). Elon Musk and his minions are violating our highest laws and destroying lives and livelihoods in the US and abroad. USAID is less than 1% of the federal budget— this isn’t about cost-cutting or “investigating fraud”. It’s about cruelty and seeing how much unlawful devastation and psychological warfare they can get away with, with the intention to repeat this process at one federal agency after another. They already have access to IT systems at the Treasury, NOAA, and other agencies, and have taken over OPM (essentially HR for the federal government), using the latter to send demeaning and threatening e-mail blasts to civil servants.

I’m urging everyone who reads this to recognize what’s happening here and how abhorrent and frightening it is. I wager that even most people who wanted Trump back didn’t want a centibillionaire technocrat making unilateral decisions on which parts of the federal government to “feed into the wood chipper” (as he has described his team’s actions at USAID in a recent post on X, The Everything App).

Please call your elected representatives and urge them to act against Musk now— before his actions make our legislative branch totally irrelevant.

I’ve been seeing posts about Musk’s coup-in-progress going around on here, but I feel like a lot of people still aren’t aware of the extent of it, and I really want to help get the word out. I’m heartsick for all the civil servants at USAID and beyond. Some of them, their unions, and some Democratic congresspeople and others are speaking out, but these workers need us everyday Americans to speak out for them, too.

Before January 2025:

If you are a USAmerican in a relationship that might be affected by legislation that dissolves same-sex marriages, who may no longer be recognized as next-of-kin, especially if you have children, get your rights in writing!

Your marriage certificate may not be enough to prove you have rights to make medical decisions for non-biological children or for a same-sex spouse or partner.

Go to a lawyer, get it spelled out as clearly as possible that you have a voice in emergency medical and legal situations.

And I really felt like drawing something special for him since he hasn’t been feeling the best lately and of course I think of Ace as an awsome internet friend that im glad to have here. So I decided to make a special comic just for him! I even added a bit of some morse code as a little homage to the spy vs spy comics!

An Executive Order was just signed today, 01/28/2025, banning Gender Affirming Care for anyone under the age of 19. 18 year-olds are explicitly included as "children" under this order. This is a direct infringement on legal adults' right to make medical decisions for their own bodies. Some people might try to swing this as not being too big of a deal over a one year difference- but it shouldn't matter. An adult is an adult, and this sets up a concerning precedent for any future actions taken to remove access to GAC and disenfranchisement of young adults.

The EO also explicitly directs agencies to drop guidance from the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, which provides standards of care for all trans people.

Alongside this, direction has now been given to the Justice Department to "end deception...by any entity that may be misleading the public about the long-term side effects of chemical and surgical mutilation." In other words, the Justice Department is now tasked with potentially targeting hormone therapy and gender-affirming surgery in general, as well as those who conduct research and share information on such.

Eyes need to be kept on this situation as it develops.

Be mindful of the choice of words used and consider what they actually entail.

Side note: the phrasing of said care as "mutilation" is despicable.

trump is allowing ice raids at churches and elementary schools.

trump announced plans to declare a national emergency at the us-mexico border.

trump signed an executive order to expand the use of the death penalty.

trump withdrew from the paris climate act.

trump revoked all protections for transgender troops in the us military.

trump rescinded executive orders made by biden that benefited and protected women, lgbtq+ people, black americans, hispanic americans, asian americans, native hawaiians, and pacific islanders.

trump is attempting to make it legal to refuse to hire or fire pregnant women.

trump announced that the us government will from here on out only recognize male and female as sexes. intersex is not legally recognized anymore.

amazon revoked protections for lgbtq+ and black employees.

every single republican told us we were overreacting. trump swore he had nothing to do with project 2025 yet continues implementing details outlined in it. not a single person has the right to tell us we’re being dramatic anymore.

hope the possibility of cheaper eggs and gas was worth it.

I’m a little fixated on Spy Vs Spy again. I suppose It’s helping me cope with all that’s going on at the moment. Things are a little scary, especially because I live in a red state lmao. Anyway,

Hey dude! Just wanted to hop in and say that I adore your art. What are some tips for getting the style down? SvS has been a huge inspiration in my art for a while but I’ve never really come to nailing the style down. Cheers!

One of the main factors to "nailing a style down" is muscle memory. I've been drawing these guys for several years and a progression in how comfortable I've become with them since the start of this blog is quite apparent.

Another thing that's been pretty fundamental for me is reading the comics, returning to strips to re-read over time, and studying them.

I don't often attempt to mimic any *particular* artist or iteration's style, but rather take heavy inspiration from each. I also tend to vary in the way I draw them, taking bits from different eras and creating new amalgamations that manage to still (hopefully) remain on-model.

If you want to draw the spies, then keep at it, and don't forget to have fun with them!!
