still with a heavy focus on the svsss au and also just various situation of distress for lbh... and everyone else involved. whoops.

I've been mostly thinking about later scenes of the au so that's also most of what I drew, bc the brainworms need to be put to paper. even if it's all still a heavy WIP :,3

as for the drawings themselves:

day 5: "How come I am the one to be thrown away, when he gets to walk free, protected by everyone?" (aka Binghe still hates og!sqqs guts) (also I fucked this one up, cus sqq doesn't have the eye on that side anymore in this au- but it looked wrong when flipped, so I stuck with it ;v;)

day 6: Binghe is sad, the system is a bitch and Shen Yuan is stuck in the middle of it

day 7: uh-oh.

anyways, that's all for now! tbh I've been mostly drawing the Shen Bros and bingbing, but I've kinda been having a blast and I really like how the drawings have been turning out. Hope some other people like them as well! :D

Vedic Astrology Observations

in my previous post, i had mentioned how Uttarashada natives love grandness and glamour. the more i look into it, the more i see these natives indulge in that old world, royaltycore aesthetic. its always go big or go home for them

Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is known for his splashy period dramas with elaborate costumes and grand set designs has Ketu in Uttarashada

Fan Bingbing who is known for her glamorous and eclectic style has Ketu in Uttarashada (she also has her moon in Revati, another nakshatra that really loves glamour)

Kim Taehyung, who is also known for his preference for vintage glamour has Mercury & Mars in Uttarashada (he also has his moon and ketu in Revati)

Dilraba Dilmurat is another celebrity who is known for her extravagant style (chinese actresses in general have a very regal, extravagant style) and she has Revati Mars as her atmakaraka (her moon is in Punarvasu, a nak known for its girly style)

2. someone previously made a post about how mrigashira natives often play the "bimbo" in movies and ive observed that this also corresponds to real life, where a lot of mrig natives are perceived to be ditzy airheads or for saying crazy insane stuff. i believe its the mars influence that makes these natives speak hastily without much thought.

3. ive noticed that many filmmakers who have prominent Uttarashada placements often explore loneliness and isolation or a lack of belonging in their movies. UA being the only nakshatra to possess a mongoose yoni which means its the only nakshatra without a yoni consort could be why these natives are so desperate for connection yet lacking it.

Beyonce has Purvaphalguni sun and the deity of Purvaphalguni is Bhaga, the god of marital bliss. Beyonce's interpretation of the Birth of Venus features her with her twin babies and babies signify the consummation of a marriage, thereby making this a uniquely Purvaphalgunian take on the original.

5. This is a no-brainer but mermaids in cinema are often played by Pisces rashi natives.

Halle Bailey is a UBP sun. Lin Yun is UBP moon and saturn with Revati Ketu. Esther Williams who did a string of aquamusicals in the 1950s has Ketu in Revati.

Sade has Revati Moon & Ketu and plays a mermaid in her most popular song's mv.

Samantha Morton has UBP moon, Venus/Mars/Ketu in Revati and she plays a mermaid in U2's Electrical Storm MV.

The nakshatra most often associated with incest is Rohini and Mrigashira but I would say Ashlesha also features these themes. Growing up in a very controlling household with a cold/controlling mother figure is a huge theme in the lives of Ashlesha natives.

in Donkey Skin (1970) Catherine Deneuve plays a princess who takes the form of a donkey in order to escape from her father, the king who wishes to marry her because she looks just like her mother. This is quite literally the story of Rohini, who was Lord Brahma's favourite daughter, and he was attracted to her. Rohini sensed this and took the form of a deer and ran away. Lord Brahma subsequently assumed the form of a stag and chased her across the heavens. When Rudra found out what was happening he cut off the head of the stag. The stag’s head became the symbol of the nakshatra of Mrigashira. As we can see Rohini & Mrigashira's mythology is deeply intertwined.

Catherine Deneuve has Ashlesha moon and Mars in Mrigashira as her atmakaraka (her Saturn is also placed in Mrigashira and is her darakaraka).

If you watch the movie, you can see how its overloaded with astrological symbolism (its based on a fairytale, so thats not surprising)

the color blue is used throughout the first half of the film when the princess is in her own kingdom, traditionally blue is associated with Saturn. Shani/saturn is our karma, which teaches us things the hard way. The princess (unwillingly) has to leave the comfort of her palace and kingdom, assume the form of a donkey and go work as a pig-keeper. She loses everything she has ever known and has to work her way up from scratch, this is a typical Saturnian journey and most people experience this during their Saturn return (Saturnian folks experience this all their lives).

the color red is used throughout the second half of the movie, in association with the Prince's kingdom. Red is typically associated with Sun and Mars in vedic astrology. as the princess works out her karma and integrates her shadow, she blossoms into a fully integrated individual, this means she has cultivated her identity and the strength to act upon it. from a passive, weak willed princess in her father's castle, who was willing to marry her father due to her fear of hurting him by refusing to do so, she transforms into someone who moulds her own fate through her own actions. (Sun + Mars)

The fact that she assumes the form of a Donkey, itself is very symbolic. Donkeys, in vedic astrology is often the vehicle of Gods. Therefore, it serves as the door that governs her transition from passivity to individuation.

the Prince saw her for her true nature, although everyone around was convinced that she's just a filthy, hideous Donkey Skin clad servant. When the Prince slips her ring back on to her finger, she transforms back into her original self (true love is a mirror that reminds us of who we really are and gives us the courage to shed our worldly personas). The dress she wears then, is a golden one, originally given to her by her father when she said she wanted a dress "like the sun". Yellow is associated with Jupiter. After enduring the trials of Saturn, the Princess who became Donkey Skin, once again becomes a Princess, except now she has freedom. Saturn's teachings guide us to Jupiter's blessings. The movie's ending showing us that once the Princess had successfully overcome her trials and now embraced her true nature.

Floating Youth (冰球少年 lit. trans: Ice Hockey Youths)

Now, if you liked Hikaru no Go (2020 live action), this might be up your alley too.

Floating Youth is at its core, a slice of life drama about a group of teenagers/university students who dream of winning an Ice Hockey championship, and tells the story of their growth and relationships with one another as they work towards that goal.

The Tea:

So I likened Chen Che and Shen Zhouzhou to Shu Guang and Yu Liang mostly because Chen Che is also the more 'happy go lucky' character to SZZ's level headedness.

(Though they differ in the sense that they weren't childhood rivals but childhood best friends who were practically joined at the hip. Until university, where their family circumstances drive a wedge between them).

so over the course of the first few eps they break up argue at least 3 times

honestly though they just have each others best interest at heart but as I mentioned above, Chen Che has EQ with everyone but SZZ (poor guy)

SZZ also goes Abroad to train (like Yu Liang) but its Worse in his case because he didn't willingly go and well. He wasn't welcomed there either.

He does eventually manage to come back though! But It Gets Worse because Chen Che thinks that SZZ will only be able to reach his full potential in Ice Hockey if he trains abroad rather than in their small town, so he tries pushing him away (it does not go well. my boy develops anxiety).

hello anon <3333 thank you for such a lovely question i love talking about svsss so much (i am so annoying to my irl friends about svsss omg)

SO basically i am quite basic but for fav characters...

luo binghe <3 my bpd king <3 i love binghe so much it is genuinely concerning. a huge part of it come from how relatable i find him, so many times while i was reading the novels he would put words to things i had been feeling but hadn't been able to find the words or wasn't brave enough to say out loud. it is probably more concerning that i relate to that little ball of trauma but it is what it is... relatablity aside, i just also think he is such a.... precious person... i love his intensity, i love that he's a bit of a liar and a bit manipulative, i love how intelligent he is, and i love his resiliency. i wish he didn't HAVE to be resilient, i really want only good things for bingbing but i still think his strength is admirable. also his hair. he has really nice hair. and his glowing eyes. that is also a very nice quality of his. i could go on but. i will spare you...

airplane-bro, the lunatic that he is - i've said it before but airplane is the reason why i picked up svsss in the first place, i find the idea of an author trapped in their own novel just infinitely fascinating, the metaness of it, literally the metaphysical-ness of it, and i so badly wanted to see what airplane's character would be like. and then i met him. pathetic wet hamster of a man that he is. i think of all the crazy svsss characters, airplane might actually be the craziest. which kinda makes sense bc all the other characters contain part of airplane's craziness, but airplane the man himself has it all in one. of all the characters, he probably makes me laugh the most, he's just so irreverent, and the tired "over it" millennial energy is so strong with him. and then i do have a soft spot for characters that don't even realise just how strong they are, like sqh considers himself a coward, but i think he's one of the most fearless characters in the novel. anyways. i do reread the airplane extras extremely frequently.

shen..... yuan..... i had to think about this because i really like shen jiu as well and honestly for me it is a bit hard to separate them in my mind because shen jiu has such an impact on shen yuan's life as shen qingqiu, he is the definition of haunting the narrative. however ultimately, when i do separate them, i do like shen yuan's character just ever so slightly more. i do really love shen yuan as well, for as much as he frustrates me when i am reading the novel (boy let the harem thing goooooo ffs), i hold him as similarly precious as i do binghe <3 i think he is such a fundamentally good person, and similar to airplane, he really genuinely does not realise how unique he is and how much he is loved and valued by those around him. i love feeling how deeply he feels across the text, even tho he refuses to admit it out loud, i love how bitchy and bratty he gets when he's actually comfortable around someone, and i love how much he actually loves pidw (he does okay) and how excited he gets every time he meets a new character or monster, i just think it's incredibly cute. he's also insane. and if you can't tell i love insane men. (in fiction)

to round out the list it has to shen jiu, as i said up above. i think mxtx writes vilains incredibly well, and shen jiu in particular is really compelling to me. i think he is a horrible man, an incredibly sad and cruel man, and what makes him all the more compelling is that he keeps choosing to be that way. i think in pidw he is not even a foil to luo bingge and more like a direct parallel, an example of the cycle of abuse. someone was cruel to shen jiu, so he is cruel to luo bingge, and then bingge kills him. and when i say that he chooses to be cruel, it is not that i don't recognise his trauma, the way that he learned that there was no point in defending himself because no one would believe him anyways, the way that living on the streets taught him that the world was kill or be killed, that yue qi abandoning him taught him that he couldn't depend on anyone, all of that can be true, but he also had many chances to turn a new leaf to choose to be better, but he was so trapped and so hurt that he couldn't. i find him interesting to think about, i find it interesting to try and explain the enigma that is shen jiu. and i also really like imagining aus where somehow, by some miracle, he makes a different choice.

as for my top five favourite moments, this will be in no particular order, just as i think of them on the spot, if you asked me tomorrow you'd very likely get a different list because there are just so many good moments.

the moment in the holy masoleum where shen qingqiu has been dragging binghe as vines are growing out of his skin and then binghe wakes up and shen qingqiu is uncontrollably crying from pain and stress

in the extras when shang qinghua is asking bingqiu questions about their relationship and shen qingqiu soothes luo binghe's anxieties as easy as breathing

luo binghe's "as long as you don’t leave me" line (AND THEN SQQ DOES!!! SCREAMING)

every single second of airplane’s extra but especially the last line "it was just that he very much liked this story he’d written" i’m tearing up thinking about it now

SVSSS Brainworms Be Plottin'

Because Stilton asked for lesbingqiu ideas on Discord last weekend. My brainworms got progressively more unhinged. In my defense, t was late, I'd had a couple of drinks in me, and I was gonna have MDZS Dragonji x Foxxian cosplay photoshoot the next day. XD

Feel free to gank any of these fic ideas for your own use! All I ask is that you credit my unhinged brainworms if anything results from them. XDDDD (And thanks to Stilton for instigating my brainnworms to percolate these ideas, LOL!!!)

#1) Ikebana Peak lord Shen teaching her (deliberately) dense disciple who Really Does Not Know An Iris From A Rose.

#2) The Bimboification Of Empress Luo (And How She Met Her Consort Who Doesn’t Know She’s A Consort) I assume Bingmeimei is full-fledged empress by then. Perhaps cooking up a storm with all manner of rare (sometimes abyssal) ingredients (bc if anyone can make that stuff not only edible but delicious, it’s the protagonist and her cooking halo). And SY is all “ah, bingbing is such a lovely chef, her husband will be such a lucky man, able to eat her cooking all the time, this old woman is not worthy 🥹❤️❤️” levels of oblivious. And it reaches a point where Bingmeimei, at an utter loss, wonders if she can get away with orchestrating an entire wedding, and cooking for it, and shizun shows up presumably to see her beloved disciple off and be served tea, only to realise as they are being instructed to bow that she IS NOT THE ‘MOTHER’ OF THE IMPERIAL BRIDE, SHE IS THE WIFE TO BE OF SAID IMPERIAL BRIDE and Bingmeimei is just smiling happily all the while. Or something. Tags would be “crack”, “but not really”, “but still kinda”, “SY redefines oblivious”, “so yeah just canon level oblivious”, “SY will put up with all of Binghe’s nonsense”, “because simp”, “Binghe resorting to Yakety Sax levels of shenanigans”, “because when the going gets tough the tough use sledgehammers”. Alternatively, if less cracktastic, then perhaps Wife Plot #684, involving a temporary time-reversal curse of some kind meant to invoke Introspection and Mild But Ultimately Temporary Angst Whose Resolution Will Show Shizun The Light. Hack-author-created flora may or may not be involved.

#3) Bingmeimei accidentally gets transformed into The Tiniest Terror and only SY can get her to settle down (Bc I have de-ageing/kidfics on the brain recently.) MBJ (who perhaps remains male in this, bc of the hilarious juxtaposition of enormous demon king and teeny tiny little heavenly demonlette) is at his wits’ end until his hamstery little wife (bc, again, hilarious juxtaposition of tiny little petite human wife whose long, loose sleeves disguise SQH’s ARMmunition bc An Ding Peak cultivates The Swole Path have you seen those fucking carts of lumber) decides Shen-shijie is Best Suited For The Job and gets MBJ to teleport a mid-tantrum Bingmeimei into the bamboo house. Bingmeimei with her fluffy hair in loopy braids, following SY around SY absolutely dying from how cute Bingmeimei is. SY unable to stop thinking if this is what Bingbing’s daughter might look like. Idk how Bingbing Grows Up Again but when she does, SY wants to wife her up and have her babies, or something. Cue magical baby-growing flora or something? Momotaro/Kaguyahime foliage? Bc it’s not stealing ideas if it’s done by a hack author who desperately needs to pay the overpriced rent for her shitty apartment.

#4) Body-swap! By way of pollen from the Magnolia of Mirrored Minds (bc Airplane-juju was Feeling The Alliteration that chapter)! Or tea accidentally brewed using the Joined-Hearts Jasmine instead of regular-ass jasmine instead (or Chrysanthemum of Clarity)? And SY has to learn to look past The Accidental Friendzone? While Bingbing has A Talk with A Very Terrified System (bc Systems are not programmed to deal with threats from users that have the benefit of a Protagonist Halo)? And after the bodyswap, SY returns to her body and to a Much Improved And Very User-Compliant System, while Bingbing goes back to her body very satisfied with having put in its place the being that causes her precious Shizun much anxiety. A wedding is planned, and System002 very grumpily issues a [ Congratulations! Congratulations! Congratulations! ] notification.

#5) Liu Mingyan Is The Best Wingwoman In The Three Realms Bingbing commissions her (via SQH, via MBJ) to write ‘Winter Peach Blossoms Upon The Tranquil Mountain’, a ballad/novel about an orphaned kitchen maid yearning after her secretly kind but publicly aloof Young Mistress Of The House, and how their forbidden love blooms when The Young Mistress is kidnapped one snowy winter and held in a cabin (with only one bed) upon The Tranquil Mountain and our earnest young ingenue maiden sets off to rescue her shizun young mistress from an extraordinarily beautiful bandit with a mole beneath one eye, and upon their return, the master of the house (the young mistress’ elder brother Qi-dage) has died and left everything to his beloved Jiu-meimei and she and the kitchen maid get married and live sapphically ever after.

The ballad/novel is a great hit and especially popular with Xian Shu peak disciples, spinsters and their dedicated handmaids, and brothel ladies.

Eventually, a sequel ‘Wine From The Twin-Pitted Plum Is Sweetest In Autumn’ is published following the wedding of Empress Luo and Peak Lord Shen. It isn’t a commissioned work but the empress receives an advance copy as a wedding gift.

What are your top 3 looks of the night? Including after parties etc if you’d like!

I did my top looks for the red carpet and the afterparty, but narrowing it down to three is a much bigger challenge lol

I cheated a bit and did top 3 for each, and included styling (hair, makeup & accessories) into my opinion vs. just the dress.

Red Carpet: Fan Bingbing, Angela Bassett, and Cara Delevigne. Deepika Padukone and Sandra Oh were close runners up.

Afterparty: Sabrina Elba, Halle Bailey, and Ana de Armas
