"I know the guy who runs the bar... he usually gives us a private room because he knows I'll tip his staff well..." Discretion was key when he went out. He didn't want to make a big deal about it, but he was 22 and sometimes he just wanted to be a 20 something and hang out with his friends.

He just needed to find more friends. Hopefully he did.

Alex tried not to frown, getting the feeling that Bex wasn't interested. So he just shrugged, trying to play off like it wouldn't bother him. "It's fun. You don't have to sing, you can just sit there and make fun of me when I try to sing Selena..." He did grin a little, biting his bottom lip if maybe he could convince him.

"You can also say no if you don't want to go... I just figured I would ask a friend out, you know?" Yes, he used the F-word out loud.

"Karaoke? The last thing I expected you to say was karaoke," He said. Bex couldn't help the small lift to his eyebrows as he stepped back and into his understanding, arm stretching away from the shelf. Let loose - the first son didn have him sort of pinned there. Bex went out quite rarely, only claiming a night at a club when someone asked about his face when his make up wasn't done too well. Mostly, as Alex probably had noticed, Bex went to work, went home, and once a week, went to visit his mother in the hospital. He didn't really go out.

"How exactly does secret service feel about the whole, karaoke thing? Would I need to prepare to be tackled?" He asked. It was only half in jest, the jovial lightness in his voice weighed down just slightly by reality. "I don't think I've ever been to a karaoke... thing."

they are so underrated tbh they deserve this post (please ignore how short this is... i'm sorry in advance)

~ they literally go everywhere together... they seriously are never seen without each other

~ bex makes thea watch a bunch of random old disney movies and although thea pretends to hate it she actually likes watching bex get so happy about it

~ they won homecoming king and queen at some point (take your pic for which was which but i think we all know the real answer)

~ they spend sunny afternoons with the windows of the bathroom open and just doing their nails and other stupid things

~ i feel like they would also do a bunch of random stuff like that too

~ they both love froyo

~ sometimes when they go to the mall together bex drags thea into claires and makes them get matching jewelry but it's also a win for thea because she can go and get another piercing

~ btw i have a headcannon that thea as a bunch of different piercings on her ears

~ they laugh over the amount of times they've been called "really sweet best friends"

I honestly feel so sorry for Rebecca. The "Emily situation" is one problem but I'm mostly talking about the way her own mother treats her. I'm not sure if Mallory Laughlin is just a messed up person in general (what with Toby getting taken away from her when he was a baby, Will Blake being a faker and a jerk, Emily's death and everything falling apart) - like ok, that's understandable but that doesn't really give her an excuse to treat Bex like dirt.

Bex is still her daughter, the one who took care of her and tried so hard to be a good daughter after Emily's death. The one who stood by her and did exactly as she told her to. Grayson and Jameson were heavily affected by Emily's death but I think it's fair to say that Rebecca was equally affected.

When Eve appeared on their doorstep, Mallory just pushed her daughter away and disregarded her like she was nothing. She called Eve her daughter when her real daughter was standing right next to her. She said that the world couldn't take anything else that mattered away from her when Bex was standing there, right there. She kicked Bex away to Hawthorne House when she offered to stay with her at Wayback Cottage because "she liked the Hawthornes so much". I'm sorry lady, but in her times of need, I'm pretty sure only Xander was there for her.

I may not agree with the stuff Rebecca did or didn't do but I really don't think she deserved to be treated the way she did.

mine is Chanterel, it/its I really like acid and drippy liquids and was trying to figure out how I could turn that into a poetic demon form and then Nyx wondered if I died by eating a misidentified mushroom. Alex was heading into the library, a stack of books in hand to return. He was also hoping that Bex would be around so he could both ask him if he had some books for one of his research papers, but was also wanted to see if the librarian wanted to hang out this weekend. He placed books on the desk, and glanced around looking for Bex.

He brightened when he saw the other man trying to balance a stack of books that were almost taller than him. Alex waved, but realized that Bex couldn't see him, couldn't see anything really.

"Hey Bex?"

It was slow motion after that. The librarian jumped at the sound of his voice and misstep, stepping right on a Caution: Wet Floor sign. Alex could only stand back and watch with wide eyes as the other man slipped backwards like a cartoon on a banana peel, and fall back on the floor, the books falling around him.

"Holy shit... are you ok?"

Alex frowned, but nodded. It still must have been hard for Bex to have his mother right there in front of him but be pushed away. Sure, his mom is the President of the United States, but she's still his mom, and she tried her damnest to make time for him when he needed it. He didn't know what he would do if he didn't have his mom, his dad, June, Nora, even Leo.

"No trust me... my problems are petty. And honestly, I'm probably thinking about this too much.. and I just need to get out of my own head..." Alex tried not to forget how privileged he was, and how lucky he was, but what he was mulling over, what happened over New Years, was much more than he could deal with at the moment.

"Oh, she's not wasting away," Bex promised, raising up one of his crossed hands as if to soothe Alex. "I promise. She's well fed, she's active, she talks, she plays board games, she likes horror movies and can theorize about them, she expresses how pissed off she is. But she doesn't see me as hers. Since every doctor tells her I am, since I've always seen her as my mother, well, that makes her crazy. I wasn't trying to be pity me. I was trying to say, yes. I do get it.

"I always expected my mom to be loving, kind. All the disney TV show moms out there, all the sitcoms and the movies. But I got older. I saw a vicious side to her. And I understand why she's vicious. That doesn't change what I thought she'd be. Though... I suppose once I say it out loud... it probably doesn't sound like I'm empathizing with you. I'm trying to."

He smiled. "There's nothing fake about your existence. You live in the real world, Alex. So your problems are very much real-world problems."

the girls always ditch the boys like once a month to go to a nice dinner once they notice they need to actually take breaks

everyone tries to teach libby and max how to play chess but they don't get it half of the time or they think it's boring

grayson actually kinda wants kids becuase he likes them most of the time but he's terrified to admit it because he thinks he's never gonna find love

and then he finally tells nash and he hypes him up (#1 hype brother fr)

avery is always overworking herself so everyone has to watch out for when she starts doing that so that they can remind her to

jameson's whole camera roll is just pictures of avery (that he's probably gonna post) and photos of himself because he knows he's pretty or smth

nash and grayson actually really like the beach and as soon as nash was eighteen they took a trip to florida together without telling jameson and xander

when they got back they were absolutely COOKED because obviously they wanted to go with them

max always makes sure that avery tells her every detail of her life while she's in college because max is used to the fact that something new happens everyday

max and xander are the masters of late night fast food runs (me too tho)

their favorite places are wendys, mcdonalds and taco bell

not to be a slut or anything but UGH i am in such the mood to write about my OC Hale stuck with a wretched cold in the most insufferable town meeting he can't get out of

i will be going feral about this under the cut

can't focus on anything with how badly he needs to sneeze, and can't leave because that's not very Future Head Alpha Of The Town of him. PLUS his dad Morgan, the notorious asshole running the town, is watching like a hawk from across the table while also keeping the meeting running through every sniffle, stifled sneeze, and uncomfortable shuffle/shiver from Hale.

poor thing is just so stuffed up, can barely breathe so he does his best to breathe quietly through his mouth only it just makes his lips chapped and hurt. every stifled sneeze sounds horribly congested now. pinched off and squelching when he pinches his nose to try and keep them contained.

he just can't do it without using a hand anymore. usually he's great at stifling, could do it all day long, but now he can only just barely hold back the messy, coldish sneezes that threaten to tear through him.

he's exhausted from all these food rationing meetings and it's only just the start of winter. when he pauses to rub at his temples or his eyes, maybe even at his sinuses a little, he can feel Morgan's eyes boring holes into him. glaring him down. so he slumps as much into his seat as he's allowed and powers through.

when it's all finally over and he stumbles home into his drafty, musty little apartment to curl up on the couch he drops right to sleep.
