So not beta related, but there is no way that an omegas body would be able to continue function under a massive amount of stress.

Let's take the average female human body. It's kind of a delicate ecosystem. If they are too stressed it can cause hormones to go wako and cause issues. Nevermind if their attempting to get pregnant. Female animals will be unable to get pregnant if the conditions aren't right, or she'll just absorb the fetuses.

An Omega is all this times 15. Too stress about an exam? BOOM. Skipped over heat that month. Alphas are deciding to be shitty? BOOM. body absorbs the fetus.

Or even better. When a society of alphas are causing omegas to stress it triggers a mass biological change and they stop having alpha kids. You'll know it's reaaaaaaaallly bad if the betas stop having alphas too.

These are a bunch of half baked thoughts after seeing a bunch of fics where alphas are treating omegas badly with no consequences. There is no way that there would be 0 consequences. Mother nature herself would show up to teach them a lesson. Might fix up later.

Lil habit Headcanons

Alphas love wearing socks. They’re naturally quite cold, so socks help keep the warmth within.

Omegas naturally will try to make their hair look a bit shaggy. Just because it makes their heads feel cooler as omegas are naturally warm

Because of Betas’ sensitivity to smell, they scrunch their noises often, especially to newer smells

Alphas are very good at climbing trees due to their need to scent above spaces

Omegas are actually the best swimmers out of the dynamics and many are inclined to water!

Betas have a knack for walking for hours and hours without needing to stop

Omegas talk with their hands a lot

Alphas nose a lot of things, even more so than Betas and their whole thing is their noses!

Alphas are natrually docile at times of rest and in this state they usually will be like a golden retriever

Pups blow their cheeks up natrually to try and appear more threatening

Betas teeth are the most sensitive and so you’ll often see them taking more careful bites than the other dynamics

Omegas are more often likely to chirp and call at random things because it’s easier than talking

Alphas feet are quite heavy when they walk and many are self conscious about that

Pups whenever they rub noses with individuals (nose tapping) will often remember the distinct motion of that person. This is because of paternal/maternal bonding

random 1am thoughts on betas:

when everything else is equal? betas are better at puzzling out scent clues than anybody.

that is: put a beta and any other dynamic in a space where they can both smell but not see a third person. tell third person not to block or control scent in any way. have third person listen to (eg) music that stirs up their emotions. the beta is going to pick up the associated change in the third person's scent. either with better accuracy, faster timing, or more clarity. exactly how depends on specifics of course.

this feature is part of why some betas end up helping others with scent control training. they might not know why it changed, or how it's changing, but "that is different!" is a common thing for them to notice.

a beta that struggles to read social cues will realize that something is happening, but might lack the context. this can be frustrating. especially when people around them act like it should be obvious. or when they try to pretend they're fine, not realizing that subtle changes might be giving them away.

betas don't have scents? nah, betas can smell each other just fine. alphas and omegas walking by are obvious - it's intense, or it lingers, or it almost leaves a trail behind. not their fault that alphas and omegas assume that everybody is as smelly as them.

youngsters are also obvious, but not due to intensity. the emotions are more in flux, so there are different elements of scent appearing and fading out all the time. betas who teach the older grades learn quickly the importance of good ventilation and breaks for fresh air.

beta parents spend extra time scenting their kids before letting them go far away for long periods. an omega might settle for a lengthy cuddle that morning. an alpha may go for a long hug at the door. but a beta? they've been taking naps with the brand new backpack for days, rubbing a wrist on each sweater collar, getting friends to sniff test their kiddo's favorite comfort item one more time. whatever it takes to ensure that their little camper doesn't get homesick. it's just 3 nights with their cousins? doesn't matter!

everyone assumes betas don't have to worry about the other dynamic's issues...and in a way, that's true. they don't have to live with those same problems. but they still want many of the same things - and, perhaps, have to face other struggles.

not just "betas are second choice as partners" or "betas are the invisible wheels that keep society going" or "betas are normal and boring" either.

in a world where the signs of an omega being treated poorly are well known, do people know what it looks like if a beta is being harmed? what about if the beta is the one doing wrong? do people take it seriously?

in a world where betas struggle to procreate, compared to alpha or omega peers...are they treated with pity or overlooked in comparison? are they left out of social depictions of happy families? are they depicted on the sidelines, only shown as a token?

in a world where betas are assumed to not be attracted to other dynamics, is it a struggle to find representation? are there young betas who realize the happy couple they thought were o/o, are actually o/b, and there's a surge of interest and excitement they can't name?

do betas struggle to feel valid when they are different? are they so likely to be painted with the "average" brush that they assume their issues aren't significant? young betas who see the depiction of the hormonal chaos of being a young alpha or omega, and come to the wrong conclusions. surely, the fact they they've felt nothing for weeks is just the post-presentation normality setting in. that vague sense of dread felt on waking up every morning where they have to leave home - that's nothing. they were able to get up, so it's fine. they aren't avoiding mirrors and their reflection. they just don't care about that stuff. only showering in the dark is a sign of nothing. even if it was, there are people who wish to be betas, so who are they to complain? betas believing that problems are for others and not for them. so used to being called the norm, that the idea of needing help slips through the cracks with them.

Hi! Can you please give us some info on how tragedies like a miscarriage or infertility from an omega would be handled? Would their mate react differently depending on them being an alpha beta or omega? How do omegas commonly heal from that

These might be mostly omega based but there will be some alpha and beta hc too within.

Loss:

* Omegas who lose a pregnancy, or even just a pup at that in any form, can face it in a bunch of different ways. Shock, loud grief, self hatred, deep depression, etc.

* Everyone goes through grief differently, but for a sub gender that’s very instinctually driven (most of the time) to have children, they likely take much longer coming out of the pain/numbness that loss of a child brings.

* Omegas grieve loudly or in silence, wrapped up in the empty comfort of their nests if they have one, whether they have a partner or not, they zone out into their own grief for a good long while before they grieve together with their partner or their pack or family.

* They become glued to their partner/packmate/family members side while they’re healing, touch often serving as the most grounding thing for them. (Touch averted or sensitive omegas probably just enjoy general closeness and calming scents as their form of comfort if they’re not feeling very touchy)

* Healing from these things can take a long time and being fully healed from such a loss can never come for some, but having their close people around as much as possible gets them to or as close to healing as possible.

* For some omegas, healing might come in the form of trying for another as soon as they healthily can.

* An omega with an alpha partner will probably spend a lot of time being crooned at or rumbled at, their alpha mate doing what they can verbally but also naturally. Those sounds are not only naturally healing but also stress relieving (healing in itself). Their alpha will probably also become incredibly protective during this period, not keeping them shut in per say, but guarding them and coddling them as much as possible, they might become more growly and less tolerant of others until their omega shows signs of feeling better. The alpha will also get comfort from their omega, purring when their alpha seems down despite being down themselves. The general closeness and ability to care for their omega helps them as well through their own emotions, comfort coming in from showing care and love.

* Omegas with beta partners will likely receive very tactical and thought out care, being able to use their knack for emotional regulation as an advantage. They emit a much more relaxed protectiveness, delicate with their omega partner. They guard them less than an alpha does and more so guides them through discomforts. Betas get their comfort through similar means as alphas do, making sure their omega is comfortable and that they’re doing everything they can for that to happen. Since betas can’t make all sounds alphas or omegas can, they rely more on touch and spoken words, reciprocating sounds where they can, but more often saying sweet nothings and gently comforting their partners.

* Omegas with omega partners mourn together, omega partners knowing most what type of dread fills them up at even just the idea of losing a child. They spend a lot of time grooming their omega partner and spreading calming omega pheromones. A lot of gentle skin ship and over nesting happens, creating a super cozy space for them. Omegas can get really protective like alphas can, omegas with omega partners who’ve experienced loss can even tend to be a bit scarier. Their nest becomes their safest most sacred space while the other is healing and they won’t let anything taint the safety. They purr often, sweet chirps also joining the mix when they want the other to listen to them, coaxing them out of their dark headspace through the gentlest and most familiar of means.

Infertility:

* Omegas who find out they’re infertile or really close to infertility (struggle super hard with having children) can struggle in very different ways to omegas who have lost children.

* They struggle with deep frustration, their instincts never, or near never, able to be satisfied. Wanting so badly to have their own pups can lead to depression or bursts of frustration induced rage.

* They’ll probably be a little destructive at first, mind fighting with body more than anything. They’ll likely wall themselves up before dropping guard and needing comfort.

* Omegas who deal with infertility can sometimes deal heavily with urges to take other pups, nest robbery of sorts and they can struggle to regulate their hormones and emotions when faced with puppies especially when they first find out.

* Partners of omegas who are infertile would probably all act the same in one way or another. Alphas and betas and omega partners with infertile partners most commonly tend to be supportive, but as with any life changing issue some can react poorly too.

* Omegas deal with large self esteem issues due to infertility. Feeling like failures that one of the things their bodies should be good at, that their bodies are basically coded for, they can’t do. Omegas often have to go through a lot of therapy to feel better and if not, they spend a lot of time clinging to people in their life who provide support to them, no matter what, they often need help boosting themselves back up from that feeling of failure.

I’m sorry I don’t have more ideas for infertility but!!!! these are my little ideas for your ask! I’m sorry it’s so long and if there’s any funny mess ups I’m writing this at work oops. These are probably a little jumbled but I tried my best hehe.

thinking about alphas and harana, courtship to omegas, how alphas were traditionally expected to court omegas, and yes i'm VERY MUCH thinking about how the dynamic of that has changed NOW, where courtship is seen as a gender-neutral thing, but when it comes to harana in specific... omegas are usually the ones serenading the alpha (or beta..!).

omegas writing kundiman (or stealing it off zack tabudlo.. sorry), then bringing their closest friends to their window, singing and playing guitar to woo them.. will they accept? who cares, its cute.

Scent Dynamics

Omegas

Compared to alphas, omegas generally have softer, more delicate scents. While there are exceptions, scents often include flowers, sweet scents like vanilla or caramel, fruity scents such as sweet berries, are among the common scent patterns. Scents follow a more “feminine” pattern while alphas have more “masculine” scents, although gender norms in terms of male or female are more loose in omegaverse as they’re overridden by alpha and omega. Omegas enjoy scenting their partners the most, and it is not specific to sexual settings. Scenting for omegas is an intimate act, and is ingrained from birth. Omegas generally scent their pups, beginning at birth and extending to the offspring’s mating. (So an omega will scent their pup until they have a mate of their own). Generally, omegas scent over the primary scent gland, which is the most major scent gland and the one located in the neck. The primary scent gland is the gland that is the most sacred to an alpha or an omega and is where a mating bite is placed. Betas do not have a primary scent gland. In addition, an omega’s scent intensifies during their heat cycle and may take on a more “pleasant” aphrodisiac note. During pregnancy, the scent is often sweeter.

Side note: Unpresented pups often have a scent like steamed milk, or a milky, soft scent.

Betas

Betas do not have scent glands, so they do not have individual scents. Occasionally, if a beta is in a relationship with a omega or alpha, it can be emotionally and instinctually satisfying for the partner to let them scent them.

Alpha

Alphas often have hardier scents, such as wood or sawdust (especially more fragrant ones such as pine or cedar), nature scents such as fresh rain, earthy scents such as wet soil or limestone, or crisp scents like ozone. Alphas tend to have “masculine” scents, granted masculine and feminine aren’t particularly solid concepts within the omegaverse as male/female is overridden by the overarching concept of alpha/omega. Alphas can also carry undertones to their scents, for example, an alpha may smell of fresh rain and iron, but carry a sweet scent as well of apples (FFVII Angeal Hewley’s scent in my headcanons). Alphas are territorial and scent their partner as a marking, similar to omegas. Alphas are more likely to scent their partner after mating, a rut, or their partner was around another alpha.

Ghost Headcanons

TW: Mentions of drugs, alcohol, SA, abuse, canon typical violence. I got tired of seeing ooc Ghost stuff so here are my headcanons. (Yes, I know this is a repost, I'm sorry, but I heavily edited it so I am just gonna repost it) I'm so sorry. Starts off light, gets heavy under the break

All day Jan 1st it’s ‘I haven’t showered since last year’ ‘I haven’t slept since last year’. He may not be a dad, but he is the king of the Worlds Worst Dad Jokes competition. You've debated getting him a trophy a few times.

He prefers a quiet new years, watching the ball drop on T.V. as opposed to fireworks, (He humors you and Johnny though, and will buy a small pack for yall to set off) He's not scared of the sound, but the people and the being outside in dark in the middle of the night is what gets him. You're content with setting firecrackers off in the backyard.

He delights in the fact that his mask scares children, finds it hilarious. He loves Halloween, even if its not widely celebrated where he's at.

Says the oddest shit sometimes, like things that make you question his sanity. (aka you think the wind is ever tryin to tell us something?)

In a relationship he would be unintentionally emotionally abusive. And I say unintentionally because I don’t think he would realize how much he’s hurting you, because ‘it’s just words’. He would never, ever lay a hand on you, but he would 100% berate, belittle, and demean you.  

Don’t get me wrong, he would love you so, so much, but this man has a lot of baggage.(His father, Roba, Tommy, ect.) He has a lot of anger pent-up inside, and it comes out anytime you disagree, which happens a lot. He would be passive-aggressive and knows what to say to hurt you.

 He is so, so good a picking out your insecurities and using them against you. It was a defense mechanism he learned at a very young age, and it's one he's never grown out of.

He used to resource hoard(still does actually). At the beginning of his day with the 141 he would have stashes of food hidden away, bottles of water, articles of clothing. That specific aspect was trained out of him, but he simply moved his focus to people.

I don’t think he would ever have children because he knows he is fundamentally broken, but if he did, he would tolerate 0 disrespect from them. Again, he would never lay a hand on them, but yelling, screaming, breaking things is all fair game. 

He would love them so much, and would do anything for them, but again, he has a lot of trauma. He would love them though. If he’s home, he goes to daddy-daughters dances, talent-shows, plays, swim-meets, anything. If your kids are in it, he’s there. 

He would not be an alcoholic. He saw what drugs and alcohol did to his family, he would never let that happen to him. He hates drugs, and when he’s in the med-bay even morphine is pushing it for him. He never has more than 2 drinks when his squad goes to the bar. He will not be his father. 

Like I said before, he knows he has issues. And he tries. He really does try. He tries to better, he tries to not be so angry. He really, really does. He doesn't apologize, but he'll come home with flowers if he knows he really messed up.

Sometimes you wonder if its worth it, but then you look back and see how far hes come, how far you've both come, and you decide to keep working at it.

He shows his affection in gentle touches, clasping your shoulder, patting your arm, touching knees together. He’s fine with kissing, as long as it’s in private, and he would have sex with you, but he is not some feral beast. 

This man is not a sub. He would need to be in control, I feel that feeling powerless while having sex would trigger him, yk? On that note, he would not be overly sexual, in fact he barely even likes sex. This man was SA’d and tortured, and he def has issues with it. It took years for him to get comfortable enough with you to do anything more than kissing.

Of course!!

I think the alphas would mainly be confused. Why would an alpha who is incredibly rich and powerful go for a beta? The guy has so many options and he goes for a boring beta with student loan debt and could is best used as a mediator. Most alphas never look twice at betas. I'd guess these alphas are super vain and egotistical more than likely they don't even really see omegas as people, and only look at their breeding potential or looks. They would probably grill the beta with questions trying to figure out what exactly this beta is giving the alpha to get this kind of attention. They might try to ask the rich alpha, but he would threaten them, and they'd take the hint.

The omegas are absolutely. FUMING!! Who does this beta think he is, taking such an eligible bachelor like that. That would be even more confused than the alphas. What does he have that they don't? The beta can't have kids, isn't motherly. It is a genuine possibility that one of the omegas may try to attack him. They are just as vain as the alphas if not worse. This would probably be the reason the beta leaves the group.
