Thinking of the Nie disciple that told Nie Mingjue it was Meng Yao who stayed behind to clean up corpses on the battlefield today.

Nie Mingjue didn't just randomly stumble upon poor lil meowyao eating bread in the novel, he was already looking for him to thank and reward him for his work.

That's what makes it so fun that nieyao's first conflict will end up being about someone else taking credit for Meng Yao's work.

And I'm sure that Nie Mingjue's actual opinions on plagiarism are a lot more nuanced, all we really get from him in this scene is "well you shouldn't kill someone over it!" which leaves a lot of room for what punishments he thinks are appropiate. But I bet that it isn't occuring to him in this moment that the only reason he knows Meng Yao at all, the only reason he got such a capable deputy, is that he noticed someone was taking care of the dead and cared enough to want to know their name. And then the Nie disciples didn't lie to him. The disciple he asked could have said "it was me, Zongzhu" to rise in the ranks himself, but he didn't. He went and asked others, who all also could have taken the credit, but they didn't. Someone saw Meng Yao working and decided to be honest about it and that simple decision is the catalyst for Meng Yao becoming Nie Mingjue's deputy.

Meng Yao can't just work hard to get results, others have to acknowledge that work. If they don't, it's as if he didn't do anything at all.

Chapter 11 of Incendiary is COMPLETE at 11,180 WORDS. breaking the record as the longest chapter in the entire story. I will be posting this chapter tomorrow (Sunday, 10/27) at 2 PM CST!

I haven't updated this story since March of this year and only a few days ago did I get the itch again to write some more of this story. I'm back in the saddle for this one, and will ride the wave as it lasts. This chapter was a bitch and a half to write, there's a lot of Pyro backstory, and a LOT of angst. BUT... it is probably my favorite by far.

Murder of a god for the wip game? It sounds fascinating

Many of my stories tend to be a bit messy on the writing part, and I have a feeling murder of a god will be one of those.

It was originally a fic to be written for a 'magic' prompt but i started writing it and i knew I couldn't make it short. There's no way of condensing a story between a soldier tasked with protecting a God, and that might have been the reason for its death, so he does the only thing you can do. He resurrects the God.

That's the bare bones of it, and I don't know when it'll be done, but it's honestly a story I'm very excited for, and that I wish will be cool to read! You can find a bit under the cut <3

It wasn't until he knelt by the tomb of a dead god, a knife in his hand and warnings ringing in his ears, easily dismissed, that Roope understood how weak he was.

If he were better, then he'd heed Miro's advice, turn around and let them bury Wyatt. If he were better, he'd cry for a god and carry his memory in his heart, not unearth secrets that were only whispered warnings when he was a boy.

But Roope wasn't better. He wasn't strong or patient or piteous, he was weak and greedy and the sight of Wyatt, dead, the idea of him, plucked from the world like a flower without a second thought, filled him rage.

It boiled and simmered, slipped through the cracks he'd once thought had been put there by hunger, finally understood they'd been proof of his weakness, how he'd slipped and unmade himself for Wyatt, and it made him want to tear the world apart.

Six Some Sentence Sunday Monday

Since the poll was in favour of the sylki con artists AU, here's a bit of that which I already had written. I am starting to suspect the reason AUs are so often multichapter things is that you have to do new backstory and that takes a number of words to achieve. In this one I have - oh no! - made the brodisons poor!

This bit's from the second chapter, when the alternating POV falls upon AU!Loki and thus I can/have to start explaining the background to his role in this Alternate Universe - Modern Setting:

It’s not like he hasn’t tried to venture into a more socially (and legally) acceptable line of work, but unfortunately he seems to have inherited their father’s business acumen, the reverse Midas touch that lost the family a fortune before either boy had made it as far as sitting their GCSEs. (Several fortunes, actually, depending how you count it.) Some of the effects of that financially comfortable childhood have stuck, however, and this includes a certain level of belief in oneself, which is wonderful when an air of confidence is required but less so when forced to abase oneself before a petty manager to win a place in poorly-paid employment.  So to hell with all of that, Loki will do as he likes, and since following rules and following orders are not things he likes (and, quite honestly, they are not things he is good at either) then something has to give.  Concern for the legality of a given career, for instance.
