Best Pokémon Villains Tournament- Individuals Bracket- Round 2: Match 5

Now it's time for our first match of the Round with both contestants having skipped the debut Round! This matchup sees two villainous faces from Sinnoh (or its historical version, Hisui), and they're both strong contenders!

Cyrus, the 27 year old fanatical boss of Team Galatic wants a world without spirit! Although ironically, the passion he has for his goals may be an expression of spirit in itself? He leads a devoted group but keeps his main goals close to his chest, with many grunts not even knowing what the ultimate goals of Team Galatic are. despite that, his personality is strong enough to pull many to his side, making himself the centre of the Team, like his name's Persian origin suggests- being a name meaning 'sun'. He's a powerful man in many senses, but is that enough to get him the win? He better watch out if Volo's packing Rock Types, because all his main story team Pokémon are all weak to them!

Volo, potential ancestor of Champion Cynthia, has similar goals to Cyrus, wanting to change the entire universe in a way he sees fit! Unlike Cyrus though, he's working alone, his fellow Ginkgo Guild members not knowing about his goals, having been taken in by his kindly facade. He uses that kindly face with the player as well, were you taken in by that? He also calls forward to Cynthia as well, with his team being 5/6ths the same as hers. The only difference is a lack of a Milotic (which isn't found in Hisui), and instead a Hisuian Arcanine. He's a wily man, and his plans almost come to fruition if it wasn't for the involvment of Arceus itself bringing the player in from the future! Is that enough to get him to the next Round?

Best Pokémon Villains Tournament- Individuals Bracket- Round 2: Match 8

Sometimes the random seeding gives us dramatic matches between powerhouses very early on, and that's definitely what we have on our hands here with two of the villainous Team leaders from the most story driven main games!

The first woman to lead the main villains in the main series, would you consider Lusamine a girlboss? The president of the Aether Foundation, she initially seems to have benevolent goals in mind, but her true obsessive nature is soon revealed! The less than stellar mother of Gladion and Lillie, she ended up driving both her children away due to her controlling personality, with her unethical experiments and focus on Ultra Space and the Ultra Beasts taking over her whole life. The dark underbelly of the Aether Foundation contains some of the arguably darkest secrets in the series, so it's hard to see Lusamine as anything but a villain. Despite that though, there's still complexity to her story, with the tragic disappearance of her husband. She's a strong contender in this contest, will she be able to win this first Round?

Another definite contender for worst parent ever is our next contender Ghetsis! The outright malevolent leader of Team Plasma wants nothing less than world domination by any means necessary. His first attempt uses his powerful personality, acting as a demagogue to manipulate the people of Unova, and taking advantage of the morals of his son N. His second attempt was with force however, using the power of Kyurem to hold Unova at gunpoint. His most evil acts however, are almost undoubtedly around how he manipulated N completely, raising him to be fit for his goals and nothing more than that- certainly with no love. Ghetsis also holds the distinction of the only main series villain to serve as the final boss of the game, with his tough Black and White fight marking the end of the main story. And to cap off that team is his star Hydreigon, one with minimum happiness for the maximum power of Frustration- telling you just how he treats his Pokémon. A truly despicable man, it's hard to say he's not one of the most evil and hatable villains around- does that earn him your vote?

Shen Yuan / Shen Qingqiu from The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System (SVSSS)

Submission 1: He was an anti fan that literally got so mad at a novel he was reading that he died and then was transmigrated into the novel he hated (besides the main character) as the villain. The author of said novel also transmigrated and they formed a love/hate broship.

Submission 2: 

My man is the hater-est hater to ever hate, except like Kendrick Lamar. He hate-read a webnovel with over 20 million words, and left scathing commentary on every single chapter. Even the author Shang Qinghua, of the webnovel PIDW, which by subtext was very very popular, knew Shen Yuan (Peerless Cucumber) as the legendary anti-fan.  He hated it (everything except the protagonist Luo Binghe) so much that after reading the last chapter, he choked and died (...slight exaggeration). Shen Yuan also proceeded to transmigrate into the novel, make everyone fall in love with him, use the power of headpats and 'a smile from the cold beauty' to overturn the genre from harem-esqe to danmei, bending the protagonist. Tldr, the power of Shen Yuan's haterism turned Cool Edgy Awesomely Powerful Protagonist Luo Binghe to soggy wet clingy white lotus bing-bong Bingmei, and it's honestly better off this way <3 

Submission 3: he's an internet hater screenname Peerless Cucumber who hates this webnovel so much he dies and transmigrates into it to fix the entire plot and also he's left so many hate comments the author (fellow transmigrator) knows and remembers who he is after being in the webnovel world for decades. Dedication.

And if she were, it would be a recent development, and frankly, an uninteresting one, as we’d be dealing with a hero tragically turned monster instead of a character with flaws. I feel like too many people take Ruby theorizing that Summer is a Grimm at face value, ignoring that she doesn’t know the hound was an experiment, long after Summer’s disappearance. Whatever happened to Summer isn’t going to be as simple as death, or being Grimm, it’s going to be something that causes further conflict, especially for Ruby and Yang.
