Does it make any sense to have a world that is entirely vegan because other animals are actually all extinct. You might think with no other animals, this be a world where cannibalistic practices occur more. Well, I never really thought of it because it's that's just nasty. But what would be realistic here? Sure, it may occur as an extreme survival method. But it shouldn't be a normal practice and condemned in every other way. But does make actually make sense in this world with animals going extinct? They do have excellent crops and plenty of ways of getting food. There is no issue with having adequate food supply except for impoverished places. And just like impoverished places in real life, people aren't just resorting to cannibalism as normal. Alright so... for a world with no more animals in its ecosystem... well, how is that even like?? Actually, why is this world even restricted to a planet? There would probably be a lot of people living on moons with no native life and space stations.
Addy: I'm in the middle of finals right now (is it okay to include that? Idk), so you're getting some straight-from-the-tap unpolished thoughts.
Are there insects? 'Cause if this is a post-extinction event, then you've got a whole issue of like... plants that used to be pollinated by insects (beetles, bees, moths, butterflies, ants, etc), birds, etc but now have to be pollinated by wind (which is way less efficient, so you'd probably get stuff that's like cedars or oak trees, where there's just pollen *everywhere*, and other stuff would at least have more difficulty surviving). And then there's... everything. The balance between plants, insects, etc, *everything* is very nuanced. This feels like it'd become the lawn garden equivalent of an ecosystem - alive, but not thriving. Like a garden laden with pesticides, you just... wouldn't get good growth, and that'd spur on its own set of issues.
Plus like. Grazing. Grazing is a huuuuge influence on grasslands, etc, so the removal of all herbivores would... man. That'd do a lot. I don't know if you could even *have* a grassland under this system. Like without grazing, the accumulation of plant matter + wildfire ecology (lightning strikes and all that) would mean huge blazes that would sterilize the soil. Instead of grassland growing back, you'd get like saplings driven on the wind or whatever. Probably.
(Something something Yellowstone when they brought the wolves back, every piece has a role to play)
If there *are* insects, then that'd have its own set of massive issues. Great Famine of China/Great Leap Forward kinds of issues. Like wow. Also insect predation on trees, that'd spur another wave of problems.... everything would be effected. Everything.
If you're on a space station, it's generally assumed that plants are being grown in a tightly controlled artificial environment. Humidity, "rain," light, nutrients, all of that under human (or at least sentient/sophont) control. It isn't expected to be a natural, thriving environment, and it's fairly small-scale. If you have some sort of space garden, it's generally either only plants or plants + some insects + small wildlife. A whole planet... man. Honestly a terrifying thought.
(You thought Silent Spring was bad)
(This is so much worse)
Also, what about fish? Is the whole ocean totally sterile? Are there even krill (or local equivalent)? Phytoplankton, I assume, would be around (also there's a scary thought about like the whole oxygen cycle wow), but... this is just a terrifying prospect for a world.
Oh, and coral! That's an animal, technically. Not really an edible one, but an animal nonetheless. Snails? Jellyfish? Detritivores? Anything to filter the water?
We have no reference for what this would look like. If they want to make a world like this, I'd say the best bet would be to imagine a world sanitized by fire and war and death and ecological omnicide and who-knows-what. Then, on the barren remains of the world-that-was, put a sentient/sophont species with a seed bank. Fern spores. Pollen and sprouts. Some great record of a sliver of the majesty that once was.
In the dust-filled deathworld, this remnant husk of what was once an emerald jewel, there is a structure, and in that structure, there is a person. They have a plot, they have nitrates, they have ammonium, they have potassium, they have phosphorus. They may have mycorrhize, if they're lucky. In that plot, they have a plant. Maybe a few. They save it all for replanting and propagation, and subsist off of freeze-dried rations made before the Happening. They are lucky to be alive.
The world outside is barren. There is nothing to hold together the topsoil. Anything that once was there has rotted and blown away (yay bacteria)(unless those are dead too). The Dust Bowl, on a scale of a world. The Sahara, in comparison, would be a fertile haven of life.
Recovery is slow. Plants, as they grow under the sheltered eye of humanity, decompose once again, cycling through generations as they build up organic matter, thick and lush and *whole*(it can never be whole, too much has been lost, the world will never, ever be the same). The structure expands. Nothing built before the Happening is sealed tightly enough to keep out the dust, microscopic in size as it is.
Coastal regions get some amount of moisture, from the fetid winds that blow off the heaving corpse-lungs of the ocean. Without zooplankton and other organisms to manage the growth of phytoplankton and algae, it is trapped in a cycle of explosion and eutrophication. Life survives in the deepest depths of the oceans, some think, though it, too, may be dead, suffocated by lack of oxygen. Without mollusks or corals or jellyfish or anything to filter the water, the upper layers are thick with rotting plant matter. Some of it sinks, some of it floats. It becomes nutritional matter for the next growth explosion, and that, too, will rot.
A garden is made, sheltered to the extent that it can be. Carefully-selected plants take root in the mulch of their ancestors. Rain is strange and violent, heaved against mountains by wind currents, which themselves are driven by the vast temperature differences of the unevenly-heated planet. There is no friction upon the ground to slow it down, excepting the husks of once-grand cities and their slowly-falling towers. Floods are frequent, in the places that do get rain. Drought prevails elsewhere. Even when rain falls, there is nothing to receive it but silt and clay and stone (and a few spare bacteria). Murky streams of water wind their way to the ocean. Inch by inch, plants come back. Nature will not return for a hundred million years. Until then, until some random quirk of genetics pushes organisms from microbial to sizable, who knows what will happen? If we are lucky, lichens and mosses remain in the great vault of humanity. If we are unlucky, every inch of un-desertification will take holes and effort and windbreaks and labor.
Basically the world kinda needs animals, at least through our understanding of it. Continents are big, and life as we know it has evolved in a web of give and take, push and pull, supply and demand. Without one half of that equation, it is a fundamentally different setup. Maybe algaes can be stable. Maybe they can't. I don't really know. I'd recommend looking into the hows-and-whys-and-whats of various extinction periods in Earth's history to get a better idea of how things happen. It won't capture a picture of what life without animals could look like, but hey, it's something.
Also, cannibalism (at least in humans) is generally only seen as a desperate measure for survival. Prion diseases are a genuine risk, along with whatever else may have killed the person. With how many plagues (and other afflictions) humans can carry, eating a dead person generally isn't worth the risk. Also also, human brains take a lot of protein. That can be obtained through non-animal needs, but it's less efficient (in terms of digestibility and protein density, not in terms of overall energy transformation efficiency of sunshine -> meal). If famine ever hits, a plant-only diet is far more vulnerable to starvation (in times of famine, fish have saved lives).

it is i, the glowstick (i should get an emoji instead of typing that out every time...)
terrible news: i am now in the hospital. i sent you that update, took a walk, and ended up passing out. i think one of your brothers called an ambulance? dunno all i could make out was a blob with pointy ears so it could be like half of you bats.
according to the nurses, blüd water is very toxic and there is a reason we all drink from water bottles or extremely strong filters! luckily my gotham immune system let me survive (thanks to the rogue attacks i guess..)
Feel free to take an emoji, I’ve got a pinned list of all of the ones already taken so as long as it’s not one of those you’re good
Okay so based on that description that actually sounds more like my sister Black Bat, her costume kind of just makes her look like one very fast black blob with pointy ears/lh
Although if it was durring the daytime it probably was one of my brothers, because signal is the only one who goes out during the day, although I think you’d notice the bright yellow
The best advice I can give you right now is listen to your doctors, try not to do anything too strenuous if you can, and just make sure you’re taking care of yourself

WIP: Black Wings, Chapter Three (snippet)
WIP: Black Wings Genre: science-fiction Tag line: Humans’ efforts to terraform a planet are thwarted when some decide to save intelligent indigenous life. POV characters: Kenaed, Zoe Irene, Mattan Nuada, Siesell Keeva Snippet from: Chapter Three, Kenaed’s PoV
First Chapter
#.
“I know.” He cut her off. Then, “Sorry,” he muttered.
“What’s going on with you?”
“Nothing.”
Angeline knew him best. They had worked together for six-and-a-half years now. Patrolled the hostile terrain outside the first terraformed zone, at first as part of the Explorer mission. Then Mattan Nuada, Angeline’s partner, organized this thing.
The planet – they called it Angerona, same as the spaceship that had brought their ancestors here, seventy years ago – the planet was fixed for terraforming by Heritage. A powerful interstellar organization which was searching for new systems and planets suitable for human kind to settle. They prepared those planets, changed their soil, water, and air, made the environments survivable for humans. Then, they took people who wanted to leave the planet they had lived on – usually because the planet was slowly losing its human-life-supporting characteristics – and transported them, in stasis, to their new home.
The cost of such operation was huge. Enormous. Kenaed didn’t even fully understand what it would take to be allowed to re-settle and he doubted anyone in Angerona could comprehend it. Only the richest, the best-connected citizens of dying planets could afford it. The rest was doomed to eventually die along with their worlds.
Angerona ancestors refused to agree to that fate. They had learned about this world, packed their belongings onto the spaceship and took up a grueling journey through the vast expanses of space. Five hundred years later the children of the children of those who had started it, had landed on the surface. Their ancestors were heroes and the people here had a home now, thanks to them.
According to the interplanetary laws, though, they were trespassers.
That was a disturbing thought. One that might send Kenaed into a spiral of fear and anger and memories he couldn’t handle.
He had to find a distraction.
“Are we there yet?” he breathed out.
Angeline turned to look at him through the visor of her helmet, troubled by the tension in his voice.
“The next spot is just over that ridge.”
[...]
“Here we are,” Angeline announced. “Are you going out, or should I?”
Kenaed was ready to go, but he hesitated with his palm on the handle. Outside, the heat would be even more unbearable.
“Is it because of that girl of yours?” Angeline asked.
“What? Who?” He turned back to her. “Zoe?”
“Weren’t you supposed to meet her kid last sundown? Did you? That why you’re upset?”
He and Zoe had been seeing each other for almost a boulder-a-round, and she decided it was a good moment to introduce him to her daughter. She didn’t want to wait longer, because, as she said, Maisie’s opinion was a make-it or break-it.
“Yeah, I met her,” Kenaed nodded, “but-- It was fine, there was nothing-- Maisie is a sweet girl. If a four-years-old can be sweet, that is, she’s pretty rebellious.” The memory made him smile. “No, I’m-- It was okay.”
[...]
“I better go,” he forced out. He didn’t like where this conversation with Angeline was going. He trusted her, unreservedly, but he couldn’t talk to her now.
The outside wasn’t as oppressive as he’d expected. The sun had just passed the zenith, so those were the hottest hours, with temperatures rising close to forty degrees. The insulating layers of the EV suits and photochromatic visor cheated his receptors to some degree, making it feel like it was just above twenty. Spending hours inside this rubber-and-polyester tin-can, breathing the filtered air, that was what made it uncomfortable.
Kenaed pulled the containers from the back compartment of the cruiser and, following the indications on his sleeve-screen, found the right spot. Just as he was about to kneel and start digging, he saw movement out of the corner of his eye.
At the same time Angeline screamed in his earpiece, “Keen, don’t move!”
He froze.

The Sixth Language (part 2)
Pairing: Waxer x Fem!Reader (single parent)
Rating: T
Wordcount: 2.1k
Warnings and tags: pure fluff; smooching; Star Wars politics; reader is a foodie; DJ don’t philosophize about food for one kriffing fic challenge (impossible)
Read the full series: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5
You and Waxer exchange countless comm messages over the next few days, and he is relentlessly charming. He sends you silly holovids of tookas, terrible puns, and descriptions of his brothers’ ridiculous antics. As you get to know him better, you look forward to hearing the chime of your commlink, and you always check it as soon as you hear a message arrive. Nyra notices your distraction at work, but she wisely says nothing, merely looking smug when she catches you with a dreamy smile on your face.
Your second date is in Little Mon Cala, as planned. You meet up on the mid levels of Coruscant and wander through the quarter, admiring the way the Mon Calamari and Quarren who live here have adapted the buildings to survive away from their oceanic homeworld. Seawater fills gargantuan tanks of transparisteel, where aquatic plants and fish sway and swirl through them in hypnotic motions, and every so often, a Quarren or Mon Calamari swims by with effortless grace.
The air is dense and humid, and the scent of saltwater mingles with that of wet plastcrete and speeder exhaust. The walkways here are never dry. Even when Coruscant’s planetary climate control system isn’t dumping rain on the city, a glossy film of water covers the ground, and small puddles collect in the depressions and uneven spots. The vast tanks have a series of tunnels running through them for non-marine beings to navigate the district, and the light that filters through the water tanks casts a soft blue glow on all the beings making their way through the tunnels.
Waxer loves it.
“I came from an oceanic planet, but it wasn’t like this at all,” he says. “I’ve heard rumors that there were tunnels under Tipoca City, but I never saw them myself. Not sure if they’re even real.”
He stares, transfixed, as a star squid drifts by the glassy wall of the tunnel, and his hand rises slowly toward it. He catches himself before he touches the transparisteel, though, and turns to you with a self-deprecating smile. He takes your hand in his and holds it—to keep you from slipping on the wet paths, he says—as the two of you continue your walk through the district, taking your time and admiring the sights, before heading to one of your favorite restaurants in the whole ecumenopolis.
The owner of the restaurant is a delightful Mon Calamari woman named Pashna who came to Coruscant as a refugee during the war. When you lead Waxer into the restaurant, she calls out your name immediately.
“There’s my favorite girl!” she says, pulling you in for a tight hug. Pashna gives the best hugs: the kind that envelops you in a safe cocoon of affection that feels like home. “How have you been, dear? And who is this handsome fellow? I haven’t seen you with a boy before.”
“Pashna, this is Waxer,” you introduce them.
“Pleased to meet you, ma’am,” he says politely.
“A clone trooper!” Pashna exclaims delightedly, nudging an elbow into your side. “You clever girl, I didn’t know you had it in you! I’d find a trooper myself if I were about five decades younger. You know, this man saved my planet during our civil war. He’s quite a hero.”
“Thank you, ma’am,” he says with an embarrassed expression, “but I didn’t serve at Mon Cala; my battalion was deployed elsewhere at the time.”
“Well, either way, the galaxy owes you a debt we can never repay,” she replies. “Your meal is on the house, as a small token of my gratitude.”
“Oh, no, ma’am, that’s not necessary!” Waxer says, alarmed. “I couldn’t possibly—”
“Nonsense, young man,” she chuckles. “The best thing about owning my own restaurant is that I get to call the shots.”
Waxer tries to argue, but Pashna pretends not to hear him as she saunters away from your table. He looks comically stunned, and you laugh at his expression.
“I take it that doesn’t happen often?” you ask.
“More like never,” he replies. “A lot of people blame us clones for the war.”
“That’s ridiculous!” you object. “You didn’t even have a choice to fight. They should be directing that anger towards voting in new senators, if they have such a strong opinion.”
Waxer looks thoughtful. “It’s strange to think I’ll actually be able to vote in the next election. I didn’t think that would ever happen.”
“I’m glad it’s finally happening,” you reply. “I just wish it could have been sooner.”
He nods in acknowledgement, but he changes the subject. “So, what’s good here?”
“Everything!” you exclaim. “The chowder is amazing, but the yobshrimp à la Devaron is fantastic if you like spicy food, and the grilled octopod comes with an aioli that will change your life. Ohhh, and they have an opee bisque that’s served in a fresh choya bread bowl, and the Berbersian crab salad is delicious if you want something lighter—what are you laughing at?”
“Sorry,” he chuckles. “I’ve just never seen anyone get that excited about food before.”
“Well, once you taste the food here, you might be just as enthusiastic,” you say with a grin.
“Maybe,” he says. “I’ve been eating rations and mess hall food for most of my life. It’s only the past year that I’ve really had an opportunity to try anything else.”
“Is that why you wanted to try all the different samples at the market?” you ask.
“Yeah, I guess I wanted to figure out what I liked.”
“And did you?” you ask.
He meets your eyes with a small smile. “Yeah, I did.”
The warmth in his eyes makes your heart thump painfully hard, and you take a deep breath to try to calm it. Your brain absolutely refuses to formulate a response, so you end up just staring back at him, hoping the stars in your eyes aren’t too obvious.
“What about you?” he asks. “Why do you love food so much?”
You think about the question for a moment before you reply. “Food connects us all. It’s something we all have in common, whether we’re human, or Mon Calamari, or Zabrak, or any other species. We all need to eat, and we’ve all developed our unique cuisines that tie us to our cultures and our homes, and even when we have to leave everything else behind, our food is what we take with us.”
“Like Pashna did,” he says.
“Yes,” you say. “She lost everything on Mon Cala, and when she came to Coruscant, she had to start all over. She told me once that when someone comes to the restaurant to eat her food, it’s an opportunity for her to communicate without words—a way that transcends language. Does that make sense?”
“I think so,” he says, a slight wrinkle between his eyebrows. “You’re saying that food brings us together.”
“Exactly,” you say. “Even bad food; how many times have you complained with other troopers about bland rations?”
“Every single day,” he laughs.
“I can imagine,” you smile. “For me, cooking is an act of love. It’s not just about providing for my loved ones’ physical needs; it’s a way to show them how much I care.”
“I hadn’t really thought about it like that,” Waxer said. “I don’t think the mess hall droids care much about us.”
Your heart twists. At every turn, you’re reminded of how different Waxer’s experience has been from yours, and yet despite all of the hardships he’s endured, he remains the kindest, gentlest man you’ve ever met.
“Well, that changes tonight,” you say. “Because Pashna definitely cares, and so do I.”
In fact, Pashna doesn’t even let the two of you order. Instead, she sends out a parade of food from the kitchen—small portions of everything on the menu so Waxer can try it all. By the time the meal is over, both of you are so full you can barely breathe, and Waxer has an expression of pure bliss on his face. You try to sneak payment into the server’s hands, but Pashna catches you and scolds you.
“Don’t even try it, young lady,” she says as though you aren’t a whole-ass adult with a child of your own. “And you, young man, be sure to come back and visit me again soon. Bring a few of your friends with you. Maybe I’m not too old to settle down with a nice trooper after all!”
After Pashna hugs you goodbye, she pulls Waxer into one of her tight embraces, and when she lets him go, he looks a little dazed.
“Take good care of my girls,” Pashna tells him.
You suck in a quiet breath as you dart a glance at Waxer to see if he noticed the plural, but nothing seems amiss as the two of you leave the restaurant.
“I can’t wait to tell my brothers about this place,” he says. “Pashna is amazing. Do you think she would adopt me?”
“I think she unofficially adopts everyone she meets,” you reply.
Waxer takes your hand again, and a warm glow of contentment settles over you. You find yourself stealing glances at him, admiring the way the azure light catches the planes of his face, emphasizing his high cheekbones and lovely, broad nose. In the dimness, his warm brown eyes are almost black, and when he catches you staring, you nearly fall into their depths.
“Did you enjoy the meal?” you ask, scrambling to mask your confusion.
“It was the best thing I’ve ever eaten,” he says. “I wish I knew how to cook so I could eat food like that whenever I want.”
“I could teach you, if you’d like,” you offer tentatively. “I’m no chef like Pashna, but I could show you the basics. No pressure, of course, but—”
“I would love that!” he exclaims. “When can we start?”
You consider for a moment. “What about Benduday? We could meet up at the market again, shop for groceries, and then go back to my place and cook dinner?”
“That’s the best offer I’ve heard in years,” Waxer says, his face alight with a beaming smile. “Thank you!”
The two of you wind your way back through the subaquatic tunnels until you reach a landing platform, where you hail a taxi.
“Need a lift?” you offer.
“No, thanks; I rode a speeder bike,” Waxer replies.
“I guess this is good night, then,” you say, gazing up into his eyes.
“I had an amazing time,” he says.
“Me, too,” you reply. “I can’t wait for Benduday.”
His eyes flicker almost imperceptibly to your lips, and he swallows. “Yeah, me either.”
He starts to step back to help you into the air taxi, and—
“Kriff it,” you say.
You collide into him with a kiss, flinging your arms around his shoulders as your lips meet his. You feel his hands settle on your waist before they slide around your back and pull you hard against him. His lips are soft and warm against yours, and you brush the tip of your tongue experimentally across them. He groans quietly and opens to let you in, your tongues sliding together as you taste and explore each other’s mouths. You run your hand up the back of his head and feel the soft, velvety prickle of his hair as your bodies mold to each other.
“Hey lady, ya want a ride, or are ya just gonna stand there and suck his face all night?” the taxi driver demands irritably.
Waxer breaks the kiss reluctantly and raises an eyebrow at the driver. “Really, man?”
The driver mutters under his breath, and you huff out a small laugh. “I guess that’s my cue. I’ll see you Benduday?”
He nods, and you give him a quick kiss on the cheek. If you’re honest with yourself, you admit that you want to ask him to come back to your apartment with you, but Kaia is there with the sitter, and you reluctantly accept that it’s not going to happen tonight. So you bid him good night and step into the taxi, doing your best to ignore the quiet voice in your head that whispers that you made a huge mistake in not telling him about Kaia in the first place. You weren’t expecting to fall so hard, so fast, and you are terrified by the thought that he might not feel the same way once he discovers your lie of omission.
Benduday, you resolve. I’ll tell him on Benduday.

Why does it necessitate the initiation of the Commercial RO Plant Manufacturer In Noida?
Like most of the other Indian states, Noida has also issues with the grade/quality of its water. The local water frequently has the following ingredients:
Elevated concentrations of dissolved solids, dangerous germs & viruses, pollutants from industries, & runoff from agriculture.
These impurities can contaminate water, making it dangerous to drink & unfit for many industrial applications. Because of this, a growing number of communities including companies in Noida utilize commercial RO units.
How do Commercial RO Plants Operate?
The method our commercial RO plants employ is straightforward:
Pre-treatment: We modify the water's chemistry & filter out bigger particles.
Pressure pump: Water is forced toward the RO membrane at high pressure.
The RO membrane is where the magic takes place. The membrane allows most pollutants to pass through but allows water molecules to pass.
Following treatment, we restore a few minerals as well as raise the pH to improve the flavour & quality.
Storage: The potable water has been kept in reserve.
Large-scale usage of this technique is ideal since it can purify several thousand litres of water every day.

Surviving Your First Winter as a New Homeowner
Surviving Your First Winter as a New Homeowner
With winter approaching, it’s time to ensure your new cozy haven remains warm, safe, and comfortable. Surviving your first winter as a homeowner comes with challenges, from keeping your home warm to managing unexpected snowfalls. Use this guide to help you prepare your home for frosty temps, manage heating efficiently, and ensure safety during the snowy season.
Preparing Your Home for the Cold
Before winter hits, it’s crucial to winterize your home. Check the insulation in attics and basements to minimize heat loss. Inspect windows and doors for drafts by feeling for cool air or using a candle flame to spot breezes.
Seal any gaps with weather stripping or caulk. Don’t forget your pipes; insulate them to prevent freezing and bursting, which lead to costly repairs.
Heating Your Home Efficiently
Your heating system is your best friend during winter but it also drives up energy costs. To heat efficiently, set your thermostat to a consistent temperature and use programmable settings to lower heat at night or when you’re away.
Regular maintenance, like changing filters and servicing your furnace, improves efficiency and lifespan. Utilize space heaters in occupied rooms to focus warmth where it’s needed most.
Snow and Ice Management
Snow is beautiful, but it also requires upkeep. Regularly clear driveways and walkways to maintain safe access to your home. Invest in a quality snow shovel or consider a snowblower for larger areas. Spread sand or salt to prevent icy buildups.
Remember to check the roof and gutters for snow and ice dams. Ignoring ice dams has many risks, such as roofing damage and water infiltration that can seriously degrade your home’s structural integrity. It’s not just about convenience; controlling the snow and ice on or around your home prevents accidents for you and your visitors.
Emergency Preparedness
Winter storms lead to power outages or even damage. Be prepared with an emergency kit containing flashlights, extra batteries, nonperishable food, and bottled water.
Know how to manually operate garage doors and ensure your family knows the procedure for checking and lighting pilot lights if necessary. In case of severe damage, have contact information for local repair services handy.
Community Resources
Your community is a great ally during winter. Take advantage of local services such as snow removal assistance or neighborhood watch programs.
Many communities offer resources like warming centers during extreme cold spells or shelters during prolonged power outages. Engage with local social media groups for real-time updates and support from fellow residents.
Surviving your first winter as a homeowner is exciting and challenging. By preparing your home, using energy wisely, managing snow and ice, and planning for emergencies, you’ll be well-equipped to face the colder months confidently.
Remember, every winter will bring you more experience and preparedness, making each one easier than the last. Stay warm, stay safe, and enjoy winter’s unique beauty to your new home.

*Ayesha sits a bit away from the flames but still near him and blinks in surprise, her brows furrowing slightly as she processes Calcharo's gesture. She hesitates for a moment, then takes the MRE kit from him, her fingers brushing against his briefly, they felt unaturally cold. She glances at the kit, then back at him, her expression a mix of gratitude and confusion, atleast no food needed to taken from her supplies. Why did he suggest shooting these ravens when he had food with him, what a strange man, just to see her aim??.*
Calcharo opened his own MRE, eating small bites from it as he watched the flames. He wasn't a superstitious man. Ravens or not. Game is game. And fresh hot food always were better than whatever was in these MRE kits, in his opinion. But then again, he ate anything that was edible in order to survive.
"You'll find MRE kits like these in abandoned soldier camps if you are lucky and the exiles haven't raided it already. Huanglong's MRE rations are better than most nations. You'll also find water bottles that can filter water for you." He fished out a rugged looking bottle from his bag and tossed it to her. "Like those."
"If you're camping out in the open like this, always protect your extremities. Socks on your feet and gloves for your fingers. They're the first things that get to you when the temperatures drop down. Wear clothing in a layered system. Base layer, insulating layer and an outer layer. If you don't have shell credits to buy clothing, then exile camps are the best place where you can steal them from."

Reflections | Starting Questions
Before getting into the breakdown of the first iteration of gameplay, I wanted to ask myself some questions so that I do not get stuck later down the line overwhelmed with too many tasks.
Where do I start?
The first stage of game design can be the most exciting but also the most challenging. Usually, my process begins with a of spark an idea and makes me think, “That would be a cool game!” But then what? Right now, I only have the initial concepts in mind, with so much subject to change later on.
Turning an idea into a playable game can seem like a monumental task, and it’s often so overwhelming to think about that many people just leave the ideas in their heads, something I've been guilty of many times in the past. A way that I counteracted this is by writing down all my initial thoughts, both good and bad with no expectations in mind (see previous post). At this stage, I am simply thinking of things that I want to include in my game, which I plan to filter out later on as work continues. The best game is not one that is created in one night, but one that goes through many iterations up until the time comes to publish.
What are the themes? What are the mechanisms of the game? What is the core experience going to be?
The theme of this hypothetical game mainly revolves around the concept of gardening and creating awareness of the benefits of having various plants in ones own garden. The core mechanism would revolve around this notion of creating and maintaining a beautiful garden, while simultaneously blending with the combat systems and ideas of resource management that is expected of a wargame.
The theme for this year's contest is logistics, so this would be the primary focus along with the aspects of combat in game. Resource management could entail anything from making sure your plants/troops have enough water, that your garden can expand at a rate that can hold enough plants, making sure the plants themselves don't wilt prematurely, and managing finances in order to upgrade your garden and survive the whole game.
Who is the demography?
According to a survey by the 2016 GWS, wargamers from the British Isles make up the single largest group of respondents. Nearly 3500 filled out the survey, of which almost 43% were under 40 years of age. Whereas American wargamers are the oldest, the British wargaming population is just a bit above average. Gender-wise, ~2% identified as female with the rest identifying as male.
There is a striking distinction between older and younger wargamers. Older wargamers prioritise playing (69%) and doing research (67%) for the game, whereas younger audiences prefer the social aspects of wargaming, those being meeting with friends (78%) and painting and modelling assets for the game if miniatures are included (60%). Despite this, 69% of the younger player base actually do prioritise playing the actual game above customising miniatures, however the general consensus is that the game is used as a vessel to meet people and have fun. As a result of this, younger wargamers also prefer smaller wargames as opposed to their older counterparts, and prefer the sci-fi and fantasy types of wargames to historical ones.
It is no surprise then that I want to target this younger base of wargamers and potentially expand outward. The subject of gardening is accessible to all (I find that people of colour and queer people find the concept especially alluring), so this could also act as a gateway for people who identify as female and others as well to get into wargaming.
How should the players feel?
With this game, I want the players to feel fulfilment in creating a beautiful garden while also learning about the cost of maintaining one (financially, emotionally, and physically). Additionally, I want to add a sense of heroism and adventure through the combat mechanics, which would resemble fantasy war tropes on a much smaller scale (Maybe snails could act as ferocious dragons!).
What makes this game different?
Most plant based games thus far focus on the result or harvest from these plants. Even in the most metaphorical sense like self-help games, the plants are used as a means to measure how much one takes care of themselves and the results of them doing so.
Plants vs. Zombies, the closest thing to a garden based wargame franchise focuses on the plants as mere tools and weapons in order to win a greater war. Using the same metaphor of war, this game would treat plants as troops as opposed to weapons; characters with their own traits and signature charm. The act of gardening is used as a pedagogical tool to teach players about the practice itself, and also an easy to grasp metaphor for logistics and resource management in a large scale (or miniature scale in this case) conflict.
What is the main obstacle of the game, and what are the victory conditions?
Since the pitch for this game is a tower-defense wargame, the main gameplay loop features surviving an onslaught of enemies which periodically come in waves, using several buffs, attributes unique to specific plants, environmental conditions and aspects of a real life garden. The game would be won after a set amount of enemy waves, the final of which would feature a "boss fight" scenario wherein you are expected to survive and drive away the boss. The game is won when there are a set amount of plants remaining on the field, and a score would be given the more plants there are.
Another aspect of this game that I would like to include is the use of different types of "terrain cards" (name subject to change) in order to influence the start and procedure of games, such as by changing the starting plant based on the terrain, and incentivising players to target specific kinds of plants in order to reap the benefits of that terrain, thereby also educating players on what kinds of plants grow well in which conditions.
How large scale is the game? (Time and Player Count)
As of right now, I have no set way of truly measuring the time it would take to play one round of this game, especially considering the turn based nature and the resource management aspects of the game. However, as a rough ballpark figure, I aim for the game to have content for half an hour to an hour of playtime.
The game is proposed to be a co-op game by nature, where players fight against a common enemy. Thereby, the minimum number of players would have to be two. Enemy attacks would have to be coordinated by an unbiased third party, who acts as the "dungeon master" of the game, or calculated randomly through drawing cards from a deck that represents their movement, or using tables and charts to calculate actions (a rudimentary form of enemy AI). Therefore, the game would have 4 players playing at max, with one additional player potentially acting as the game master.
How should I approach Prototyping?
Prototyping in board games need not be a complex affair. Generally, it would start with a Minimum Viable Prototype (MVP), which is meant to test the basest aspects of a given game. Focusing on a small aspect of a game’s overall design makes it way easier to get things done, and I can start figuring out if the game is fun or not long before I put too much time into it. This would work to test several aspects of my game, such as the combat as one prototype, the resource management as another, and so on and so forth.
In terms of prototypes beyond this, it is better to create rough mock ups with graph paper, cardstock, or whiteboard and a pen to write with just to get a rough idea of how the game would be played. This way, I don't need to spend time on creating visuals for features that may be cut from the final game and work on the art in parallel with testing.
With these questions answered, I can move on to creating the first iteration of the game and a breakdown of each aspect of the game.

Summer Allergies Survival Guide
Introduction:
As the sun rises higher and temperatures soar, summer ushers in a season of outdoor fun and adventure. However, for many, it also brings the dreaded onslaught of summer allergies. In the vibrant city of Jaipur, where the scents of blooming flowers and bustling markets fill the air, allergies can pose a significant challenge to enjoying the season fully. But fear not! With the expert guidance of Dr. Rahul Mathur at Swasthya Clinics, we'll explore the causes, prevention strategies, and treatments for summer allergies, ensuring you can revel in the beauty of Jaipur without the discomfort of allergic reactions.
Causes of Summer Allergies:
Summer allergies stem from various environmental triggers that are particularly abundant during the warmer months. Pollen from trees, grasses, and weeds is one of the primary culprits, with Jaipur's lush greenery providing ample opportunity for pollen to proliferate. Additionally, outdoor mold spores thrive in the warm and humid conditions prevalent during summer, exacerbating allergy symptoms. Dust mites, commonly found in household environments, can also trigger allergic reactions, especially when stirred up during summer cleaning or renovations.
Prevention Strategies:
Monitor Pollen Counts: Stay informed about pollen levels in Jaipur by checking local weather reports or using pollen count apps. Limit outdoor activities during peak pollen times, typically in the early morning and evening.
Protective Measures: Wear sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat to shield your eyes and face from pollen. Consider using a pollen mask when doing outdoor chores like gardening to minimize exposure.
Indoor Allergen Control: Keep doors and windows closed to prevent pollen and outdoor allergens from entering your home. Use air purifiers with HEPA filters to trap airborne allergens, and regularly clean or replace air conditioning filters.for this get Allergy treatment in jaipur
Personal Hygiene: Shower and change clothes after spending time outdoors to remove pollen and other allergens from your skin and clothing. Wash bedding frequently in hot water to eliminate dust mites and allergen buildup.
Treatments for Summer Allergies:
Over-the-Counter Medications: Antihistamines, decongestants, and nasal sprays can provide relief from allergy symptoms such as sneezing, itching, and congestion. Dr. Rahul Mathur may recommend specific medications tailored to your symptoms and medical history.
Allergy Shots (Immunotherapy): For individuals with severe or persistent allergies, allergy shots administered by Dr. Rahul Mathur can help desensitize the immune system to specific allergens, reducing the severity of allergic reactions over time.
Nasal Irrigation: Saline nasal irrigation using a neti pot or nasal spray can help flush out allergens and alleviate nasal congestion and irritation.
Prescription Medications: In cases of severe allergies or inadequate symptom control with over-the-counter medications, Dr. Rahul Mathur may prescribe stronger antihistamines, corticosteroids, or other medications to manage symptoms effectively.
