GEORGIA PULLS OUT A BIG TIME WIN!!!! The defense was absolutely terrific with 7 sacks of DJ Uiagalelei. The only score came from a Christopher Smith 74 yard interception touchdown late in the 2nd quarter. The offense was a bit of a concern, but give major props to that defense over there. The Dawgs are 1-0 and figure to be ranked 2nd when the new poll comes out Tuesday. 03/17/20 - Sparks, NV - SNOW IN THE MORNING - If it snowed down here last night, it’s most likely that the mountain passes will remain closed which means we’ll be spending another day in Sparks waiting for the replacement circuit board for our water heater to arrive from Sacramento, CA. There is nothing much to do here except practice hunkering down which seems to be where things are going with the new Covid-19 restrictions. There are lots of rumors about what that will mean in the weeks to come: especially as it relates to State Park and commercial RV park closures which will affect our travel plans. For now, in Sparks, all the facilities at our nice RV Park have been closed and most non-essential businesses in the city have already shut down. Luckily, our RV repair shop has remained open but they are not sure for how long that will be if any of their employees get sick. All the ski resorts are closed as well which means our bright idea to bypass the rainy coast and go skiing instead is no longer the plan. Oh well, life goes on: we’ll find a way to adapt to all the new restrictions. If this is what it takes to save lives, we’re all in.

It’s been a quiet park of late at Burrard View, and the taped off swing sets and locked up tennis courts are frankly kind of creeping us out (as much as this is all clearly necessary).  But behind closed doors, the media projects and film actions carry on! And who doesn’t want some social isolation when they are hunkering down and getting some studio time in? Iris member Nisha Platzer, our March 2020 “Work In Progress” artist has just wrapped the month working on her “Back Home” documentary. And while her public events were understandably cancelled, Nisha has had the space humming with processing, refilming and reflecting. Plus, occasional breaks for some rear projections on our window screen of our Super 8 classics collection and some test rolls for all you dog walkers out there keeping your social distance. Dogs need their walks, and so do us humans!

03/31/20 - Otter Rock, OR - BACK TO HOMEBASE - We feel very fortunate to be able to hunker down here during this difficult Covid-19 time. Usually, this area is crowded with tourists: especially on weekends. But now, it’s pretty much deserted all the time. There are a lot of mixed emotions to unpack with that: the main ones being that while we feel much safer having miles of beach to ourselves, it’s at the expense of the local tourist economy which is being devastated. Hopefully, the short term sacrifices this community is making will result in things opening up sooner and staying open vs. relaxing the ‘shelter-in-place’ restrictions too soon with unintended consequences that may result in prolonging the shutdowns. For now, it’s disappointing to see that politics and ideology are starting to rear their ugly heads and impact life and death decisions. The battle is on: science vs. politics. Here’s to science prevailing and minimal loss of life in the end. We shall see.
