So, the Haunting Heroes server did a Who Wrote That game with the theme of "wingfic" a while back. I did an entry and I liked it enough that I decided to expand on it. Gonna start posting scenes here whenever I get them done, and eventually piece it together for ao3. This first part is the intro, but the rest probably won't actually be in order.
Update Mar 11, 2024: Here is the Subscription Post
Ectoplasm Gives You Wings
(Working title)
DPxDC, T-rated genfic.
Everyone knew ghosts had wings. It was in every ghost story throughout history, regardless of culture. It was one of their defining traits, like going through walls or fading into invisibility. The unquiet dead soared through the night on birdlike wings, occasionally leaving unnaturally large feathers as an omen of impending death.
As soon as the newly-working portal spat Danny out, he knew there would be no hiding what had happened. His ghostly form came with a pair of large wings that didn't go away when he turned back human. In his ghost form, they were mostly black with bars of white near the bottom edge. The reverse was true when he was human. It was an indication of what had happened to him that he couldn't escape.
Tucker and Sam tried to play it off to his parents as a meta mutation that had suddenly appeared. They'd heard of it happening before on TV and through the internet. Besides, there were winged people in the Justice League. Danny's parents had never talked about them being secret ghosts.
Danny would never forget his parents' horrified faces as they came downstairs and found him. The way their eyes skipped over his face entirely and focused on the wings behind him. His dad frozen in place, expression slack with shock. His mom's face going from horror to determination as she set her jaw and reached for a bazooka.
Danny and his friends managed to escape them and run all the way to Tucker's house. Running was harder with a new pair of limbs hanging off his back like so much dead (hah) weight. It was clear that Danny couldn't stay here. His parents might be cranks, but once they realized the portal worked they would have evidence to prove Danny was a ghost. At least, sort of. Would they try to experiment on him, or just try to help him pass on? Danny assumed it would be the latter, but he had also assumed his mom wouldn't ever draw a weapon on him.
Tucker and Sam helped him to pack a camping backpack full of spare clothes he'd left at Tucker's, a handful of important essentials like a first aid kit, and a sleeping bag. They left for a while and came back with a cheap cellphone, a handful of prepaid phone cards, and a surprising amount of cash. Who would have thought Sam was secretly loaded?
They argued all night about where he should go. Danny barely knew his Dad's side of the family, let alone whether they'd take him in. His mom's sister Alicia was somewhere in Arkansas, but Danny couldn't remember the name of the town. Besides, he hadn't seen her since he was about nine. What if she believed Maddie over him? Tucker and Sam suggested their own family members. Danny turned them down. He didn't want to be a burden to his friends' families.
In the end, they decided that he would blend in best in a big city far away from Amity. The next day, Danny climbed on a Greyhound bus headed to the East Coast. He couldn't hide the wings, no matter what he did. The best he could do was wrap the sleeping bag around himself like a blanket. Thankfully, no one on the bus seemed to care. They all had their own issues to worry about. Most seemed content to watch their phones or the scenery instead of looking too closely at the weird kid wrapped in a big, lumpy sleeping bag.
As the hours dragged on, Danny was increasingly greatful that everyone was minding their own business. There was something else wrong with him. His hands kept slipping through the sleeping bag. Going through solid objects, like a ghost.
The plan was to find a place in Metropolis that provided resources to meta kids. But by the time the bus reached Gotham Danny was exhausted and anxious. His hands had started to go through things. What if he went straight through the bus while it was driving? He had to get a handle on this. He could always go to Metropolis the next day.
Danny got off the bus. The city around him was gray and dreary, from the concrete sidewalks up to the cloud-covered sky. It felt like the sky was too close, more of a ceiling than an open expanse. Something about it gave Danny a strangely claustrophobic feeling. He tried to shrug it off as the lack of sleep catching up to him. The last time Danny slept was the night before the portal accident. That had been well over twenty-four hours ago. He needed to find a safe place to sleep.

Sponsored listings are a ripoff…for sellers
Tonight (November 29), I'm at NYC's Strand Books with my novel The Lost Cause, a solarpunk tale of hope and danger that Rebecca Solnit called "completely delightful."
Not all ads are created equally sleazy. The privacy harms from surveillance ads, though real, are often hard to pin down. But there's another kind of ad - or "ad" that picks your pocket every time you use an ecommerce site.
This is the "sponsored listing" ad, which allows merchants to bid to be among the top-ranked items in response to your searches - whether or not their products are a good match for your query. These aren't "ads" in the way that, say, a Facebook ad is an ad. These are more #payola, a form of bribery that's actually a crime (but not when Amazon does it):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Payola#U.S._investigations_and_aftermath
Amazon is the global champion of payola. It boasts of $31 billion in annual "ad" revenue. That's $31 billion that Amazon sellers have to recoup from you. But Amazon's use of "most favored nation" deals (which requires sellers to offer their lowest prices on Amazon) mean that you don't see those price-hikes because sellers raise their prices everywhere:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/04/25/greedflation/#commissar-bezos
Forget Twitter: Amazon search is the poster-child for enshittification, in which Amazon locks you in (for example, with a year's shipping prepaid through Prime) and then you get recommended worse products while sellers make less money and Amazon pockets the difference.
Sellers who don't sell on Amazon are dead in the water, because most US households have Amazon Prime and overwhelmingly, Prime users start their search on Amazon, and, if they find the goods they're seeking. After all, they've prepaid for shipping.
So sellers suck it up and pay a 45-51% Amazon tax and pass it on to us - no matter where we shop. A lot of the junk fees sellers pay are related to Prime and other fulfillment services, but an increasing share of the Amazon tax comes from the need to pay to "advertise," because if they don't buy the top result for searches for their own products, their competitors' ads will push them right off the first page (those competitors spend money on advertising, rather than manufacturing quality).
There's a lot of YOLO/ROFLMAO in those ads: search for "cat beds" and 50% of the first five screens are ads - including ads for dog products, apparently bought by companies adopting a spray-and-pray approach to advertising. Someone selling a quality product still has to outbid all of those garbage sellers:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/11/28/enshittification/#relentless-payola
This is at the root of Amazon's Pricing Paradox: while Amazon can defend itself against regulators by citing sellers whose prices are lower and/or whose quality is higher, it's nearly impossible for shoppers to get those deals. If you click the top result for your search, you will, on average, pay 29% more than you would if you found the best bargain on the site:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/11/06/attention-rents/#consumer-welfare-queens
What's more, you can't fix this by simply sorting by price, or by reviews, or some mix of the two. The sleaziest sellers have mastered tricks like changing the number of units they sell so the total price is lower. For example, if batteries are normally sold $10 for a four-pack, a sleazy seller can offer batteries at $9 for three units. A lowest-to-highest price-sort will put this item ahead of a cheaper rival.
Researchers found that getting a good deal at Amazon requires that you make a multifactorial spreadsheet by laboriously copy/pasting multiple details from individual listing pages and then doing sorts that Amazon itself doesn't permit:
https://scholarship.law.bu.edu/faculty_scholarship/3645/
There's an exception to this: Amazon and Apple have a cozy, secret arrangement to exclude these "ads" from searches for Apple products. But if you're shopping for anything else, you're SOL:
https://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-gives-apple-special-treatment-while-others-suffer-junk-ads-2023-11
These payola markets are bad for buyers, and they cost sellers a lot of money, but are they at least good for sellers? A new study from three business-school researchers - Vibhanshu Abhishek, Jiaqi Shi and Mingyu Joo - shows that payola is a very bad deal for good sellers, too:
https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3896716
After doing a lot of impressive quantitative work, the authors conclude that for good sellers, showing up as a sponsored listing makes buyers trust their products less than if they floated to the top of the results "organically." This means that buying an ad makes your product less attractive than not buying an ad.
The exception is sellers who have bad products - products that wouldn't rise to the top of the results on their own merits. The study finds that if you buy your mediocre product's way to the top of the results, buyers trust it more than they would if they found it buried deep on page eleventy-million, to which its poor reviews, quality or price would normally banish it.
But of course, if you're one of those good sellers, you can't simply opt not to buy an ad, even though seeing it with the little "AD" marker in the thumbnail makes your product less attractive to shoppers. If you don't pay the danegeld, your product will be pushed down by the inferior products whose sellers are only too happy to pay ransom.

STUCK STATES AWAY FROM HOUSE WE'RE BEING EVICTED FROM! 😰
Hello, Our names are TJ and Alex. We are a couple that have been together for 14 years; although we dont have children, we provide for four lovely cats.
My partner and I are in quite an emergency and have exhausted all options. This is my desperate plea. We've been struggling this year but things took a very drastic turn. A few months ago my partner's mother passed and we had to max our credit card to get bus tickets and travel from Texas to Michigan to say our goodbyes. After that we ended up stranded here with no way home. While trying to push our way through, we found out that our roommate is losing the house in Texas. We thought we had until the end of the year and after planning, I found I'd be able to get down there in November to begin packing.
Recently we found out that we need to be OUT by October 1st.
I've got nothing left. No money, fresh from the death of a loved one, and now states away from our cats who will have no where to go once the house in TX is taken. My top priority is getting us down there so we can pack and try to figure out how to get home, now, to Michigan. Thankfully, we've inherited my partner's mother's home and will have a place to stay forever, but the pets and belongings in Texas are the only things we have left after losing a home ourselves, a few years back.
I don't mean to be dramatic, but my late ESA's ashes, my mother's ashes, and a few precious belongings of hers are sitting in that house; I absolutely need to get back there and protect it all as best I can. It's everything I managed to save when we were evicted years ago and the new owner mistakenly destroyed almost all our belongings while pre-emptively trying to clean out our apartment. I also have a few items that I might (with a heavy heart) be able to pawn once I get down there, but almost everything is simply sentimental and the last things we have of the many people we've lost and homes which are no longer ours.
I know it's a big ask, but when I say anything helps, I really mean it.
When we were trying to get to Michigan someone suggested a GoFundMe for this type of request but at the time we didn't have valid IDs. Now I can do this in a more valid manner, it's a suggestion I greatly appreciate! I can answer any and all questions about this, I have nothing against spilling the entire long story as well- how we ended up in Texas was an emergency itself and we were far too unprepared for it. Hindsight is 20/20, but we can use the lessons to do better this time around the rodeo. I believe in people helping each other, whenever I'm in the position it's what I do, so now I'm coming to the community and asking for anything you can spare. Any little bit to get us to our pets and help us figure out how to get home will go a long, long way. I'm not someone who asks for things without wanting to pay it back or at least pay it forward. If you help us, we will make sure it goes back into the world and that we can be here for you in the future.
And for clarity, here is a quick breakdown of the expenses we're hoping to get help with! In no way do I expect to get the full amount, ftom a single person or all of you together, but any bit of this covered will go a long, long way.
-Train or bus tickets down to Texas: $300
-A uhaul for getting to back Michigan: $1500 ~ $1700
- prepaid Lot rent for the house we secured in michigan (The landlord specified that we must have this paid before leaving to collect our belongings, I can get it in writing from her if need be! *the landlord is also now saying they're raising lot rent but don't know how much - i hate her*): $400~
- road trip expenses like food, gas, and lodging: $300
It would mean the world to us if you could help us get settled one last time. If there's anything you can do, or anyone you can pass this along to, it would be deeply appreciated. From our little family to all of you, I hope you are safe and warm, I hope you are having good meals, and I hope someone always helps you when you really need it!
Thank you if you've read this far, any bit of kindness stays with us.

Here's our GoFundMe link for anyone interested in helping or passing this along.

How to Fly Like a Hollywood Star - Part 2: Before the Airport and At the Airport
[Part 1 - Packing]
Before the Airport
🛩 If booking flight tickets online, use incognito mode. Airline websites use cookies to adjust the prices of tickets, so if you visit a website often, the price will be more expensive. Using incognito mode prevents this.
🛩 You can't book tickets through this site, but it tells you who has the cheapest fares.
🛩 Flight Connections can be your best friend when booking flights.
🛩 Be careful with low budget airlines. The tickets may be cheap, but they try and make you pay through the nose for every else, like food, checked bags, seat assignments, etc.
🛩 First flights of the day are always your best bets in terms of availability and options if you get bumped, at least on major routes. If you have two options to take a leg always plan to take the first one I.e. Ten seats on the 7am departure is far more likely than ten seats on the 9am. People oversleep, people change their flights, people get stuck in traffic, etc.
🛩 Study what type of plane you'll be on prior to booking seats. Business class will nearly always have only two seats per row, but on some big jets, economy class will have two seats towards the back of the plane. This is because the plane narrows there. This is good, because there's extra space next to you on the floor if you're in the window seat, and you won't be in the dreaded middle seat. Be aware that some planes have the latrine next to that aisle (but sometimes it's the galley, so you'll have the aroma of fresh coffee near you throughout the entire flight). You can find a map of your flight's seats here.
🛩 Get window or aisle seats if you can. Aisle seats are better if you need to pee a lot, but the downside is that you'll have to get up for other people in your row. Window seats are good for not being disturbed, but you'll have to ask people in your row to move if you need the toilet. Avoid middle seats if possible, there's no benefit to them.
🛩 Get business class tickets if you can. On some airlines they're only a little bit more expensive than economy, and the experience is so much better.
🛩 Sometimes, saying you're a doctor can get you upgraded ahead of others. So try your luck and fill out the "Title" section with "Dr" when you fly.
🛩 Bring a powerbank for your phone, just in case your phone battery dies. The flight may not have a charging outlet, and they can be difficult to find in an airport, which is a nightmare if you have your boarding pass or vaccination proof on your phone.
🛩 Take a screenshot of the airport map, your boarding pass, and vaccine cert just in case you have difficulties accessing the airport WiFi. Make a photocopy of your passport and keep it in your luggage.
🛩 Download some music ahead of your flight (this app is the best for downloading music if you're an android user), and bring something to read on board. Use Library Genesis to download any books you want to read on an electronic device offline.
🛩 Take a picture of your luggage in case it gets lost.
🛩 If your luggage gets lost, in many places airlines are obligated to pay you compensation, so don't just let it slide. Use this site to get compensation (going directly to the airline may cause them to do the runaround so you won't get anything). Keep the receipts of clothing, toiletries, etc, you bought and claim. If you're don't fly often, buy stuff with the assumption you won't get your claim. If you do fly frequently, then you can begin buying expensive items, and they don't complain.
🛩 If you're in the EU and something goes wrong with your flight, check this website to find out your rights.
🛩 Check your phone coverage abroad. Most big carriers have programs where you can pay by the day for international access (between like $2 and $10 depending on country) but international roaming fees are terrible if you forget to activate an international plan. Get a prepaid cellphone sim card if possible.
🛩 Make sure you call your bank/credit card company to authorize your cards for use abroad. Check what the international transaction fees are. Consider getting some cash in the currency of your destination before you go. Major banks will have it on hand, most others can order it for you.
At the Airport
🛩 Dress smartly, for example, a neat pair of jeans, white shirt, and well-cut blazer or cardigan. Don't dress like you're at the beach, in shorts and sandals. The air conditioning is often cranked up at airports and planes are usually cold because of the air vents, so you'll be chilly, and it's impractical if there's an emergency and you need to evacuate. Instead, wear layers. Not too many, as it's a pain taking them off when going through security, but it's good to wear a warm cardigan just in case you're freezing, which you can take off if the heating in the airport is too high (London Heathrow is always boiling hot in my experience). Avoid gym gear; it belongs in the gym (this applies to all situations, not just flying). If you're wearing sneakers, wear trim ones, not clunky running shoes. If you're lucky, dressing smartly might bump you up a class, and you'll never know when you might meet a person in a high position at the airport, or sat next to you in business class.
🛩 Go to the airport as early as you can. Sometimes, checking in very early can get you bumped up to spare seats in a higher class.
🛩 Once you go through security, you can't get out again (unless you want to go through security a second time). Don't leave the secure area (usually, if you're going in the direction of baggage claim, you're headed out).
🛩 If you get lost in the airport, don't hesitate to ask the staff for help.
🛩 If the airport is huge, you can generally use Google Maps on your phone if you don't know where to go.
🛩 Don't trust anyone who offers to carry your bags.
🛩 Be aware of your important belongings in the airport. They’re generally safe, but if your brain is in a million places at once it’s easy to misplace little impossible things (phone, wallet, passport, ticket, etc.).
🛩 When transferring flights, go to your next flight immediately. It may take you longer to get there than you expect.
🛩 If you miss your connecting flight, the airline will rebook you. There will be a line to wait in or a number to call for details if this happens.
🛩 Listen to the overhead announcements, as airlines might not always text if there's a change to your flight or a gate change.
🛩 If you have a long wait in the airport, get up and walk around every few hours. Or explore the city you're in if you feel comfortable.
🛩 Some airports have yoga rooms, art exhibits, etc. Make use of them if you have time.
🛩 Food is more expensive in airports, so if you're on a budget, try to eat before you go, or bring snacks. However, buying snacks in the airport is still less expensive than on the plane. On many airlines, if you fly business class, snacks and drinks are complimentary, so check ahead of time on the airline's meal policy.
🛩 If you have access to the lounge, you'll be able to shower, which can be very refreshing during a long day of running around.

Gas station clerk Yoshida x reader. Body swap. Features Freeloader!Toji and Fake OSHA Inspector Kishibe.
Slimey Smut. Everyone is having sex with everyone. Voyeurism. Noncon. (Sex is recorded without Yoshida or Reader’s knowledge)
_______________
When Yoshida realizes hes swapped bodies with you. He remembers the failing grade you gave him.
Goes to the cracked mirror and gets naked. Does a turn here and there then grabs his prepaid phone and takes a few pics here and there and sends it to the residents of grimetown on the contacts list.
Shows up to GCC pretending that he knows where he’s going. Walks into your empty classroom and starts writing on the corkboard with a broken pencil.
Sits around, gets bored and decides to take more nudes. There’s a lazy knock on the door while he’s in the middle of taking a pic of his ass.
Freeloader Toji walks in unbuckling his belt while simultaneously biting into a pot pocket his rat army found for him.
Yoshida quirks a brow, but doesn’t question it. You have a lot of fun I see, he thinks to himself. He sits back in his office chair and spreads his legs.
Toji throws down the pot pocket. “You’re really eager today.” Thumbs his lip and fucks Yoshida with the door wide open.
Tojis cum slicks Yoshidas thighs. He lays in the office chair trying to catch his breath. Reaches down and rubs the cum between his thighs.
There’s a drop of slime on your forehead, it slides down your lashes and past your nose. It lands right into your mouth, awakening you in the backroom of Grimetown Gas.
The ceiling is coated in random pools of slime, they drip in various spots of the gas station. There’s paper towels being used to soak it up and serve as a sign to warn others that it’s slippery.
Your name tag says Yoshida, you touch all over, and grab your cock and balls a few times with some kind of denial. You pull the joggers open and stare at them. Immediately you think about using the dick like an extra hand to touch everything you see.
You start with the bag of chips, then the energy drinks in the walk in. When your cock scrunchies back at the coldness, you writhe in pain.
The door opens and you hear heavy footsteps among tiny skittering and smattering of tiny feet.
Freeloader Toji walks past you, grabbing a six pack while his rat army grabs the remaining candy on every shelf. He peaks at you, then walks out, his army following suit.
Alone again, you spend your downtime pushing your hard on down. First you paw at it, then you put it into the waistband of your joggers. You paw it some more and then eventually grab it and hold.
You look up and see Yoshida, in your body. Your cock twitches. You shake your head.. At least you think it’s you. You hide under the counter and look. You recognize that ass anywhere. It’s your body.
Yoshida walks to the counter. You Stare at one another. Yoshida looks down at your raging hard on, and then lifts his skirt to reveal his leaky pussy.
The gnarl from knowing what he did or had done to your body breaks your calm demeanor and you jump the counter and land on Yoshida.
From a grayscale monitor chips are chewed and a questionable drink from a styrofoam cup is being drunk. A veiny arm presses record, capturing the way you and Yoshida grapple one another as you awkwardly fuck him on the dirty linoleum floor.
“How much do you want for it?” Asks Kishibe. He leans in close to the videography, his eyes scanning the action.
Toji smiles. “How much you got?”
yoshida shows up in your classroom knowing absolutely nothing about accounting (doesn't know it's actually a money laundering class, he does know a thing or two about that) and he gives a presentation straight out of the office.
"today we're going to be talking about... powerpoint... the best way to start is to hit 'start' and up comes the toolbar... that's what she said... what we have to do here is go to 'run' and then you look up to 'powerpoint' and then we are in, we're going to register. you hit register updates are ready, i should update... um, estimated time 12 minutes but this should probably take about 5 or 10 minutes–"
BUT OH MY GOD 😭 USING THE DICK LIKE AN EXTRA HAND TO TOUCH EVERYTHING YOU SEE JGFDKSL

What, please, is a prison book system? Fulfilling the few they're allowed to have a month?
I worked in a used bookstore and a very white collar criminal who had weeks to "settle his affairs" spent days in the store. He shopped for his books, packed them for mail, kept a spreadsheet of what books were where, so all he had to do was contact the store and say "box 5" and the prepaid box would get dropped in the mail. He was going to be in 4 or 5 years, there were a lot of boxes.
....I'm just now realizing she sold and packed up before he was out. I wonder where Mr Bad Banker's books went?
There are a number of prison books programs around the USA under names like "Books Behind Bars" or "Books to Prisoners." Most are locally restricted, either state or regional, with which prisons they serve. These programs receive letters from incarcerated people requesting books, sometimes by title or author and sometimes by topic like, "Send me books about tigers." We work from a collection of mostly donated books from the local community and select books we think fill the order best. Some books, like dictionaries, we buy in bulk with special purchase funds.
The main reason the man in your store packed up so many small packages is that there are restrictions on how many articles one package can contain. In my state it's 5. There are also restrictions on topic and book condition. He would also need to worry about annoying the people in the mail room with excess packages - these are all things our group has to navigate. We collect a large number of orders for a single prison and send them all together to help with that.
I hope that guy got his books! Storage space in a prison cell is limited, so it's likely that the books that weren't good enough to keep in his space were shared and passed around through the prison.

Ways To Travel Off The Beaten Path
Traveling is a great way to expand ones horizons. It introduces one to new cultures and ideas, expands ones understanding of the world, and can be extremely fun to boot. However, proper precautions should be taken Taxi Airport To Nerja traveling. Prior planning and research are important, to minimize sticky situations and unexpected snafu's. This article will cover some of the required information you should gather before embarking on your journey.
Travel can be a good way to get away from it all, but sometimes it is necessary to get in touch with the rest of the world. For this purpose, make sure your cell phone works wherever you are going or purchase a prepaid phone in your destination country. You will be glad you did if you lose your credit cards or passport and need to contact your bank - or embassy! - right away.
When taking a road trip to an unfamiliar area, be sure that your car is serviced and you have a full tank of gas. The last thing you need is to break down, unaware of where the nearest gas station is. Keep an empty gas can in the trunk of your car in the event that you run out of gas. You will be able to make your way to the nearest service station and fill up the can, rather than calling someone out to do that for you.
Savvy air travelers know not to let delays get to them personally. In modern air travel delays are virtually inevitable. Every frequent flyer will encounter flights that run late, get overbooked, or even get canceled. Passengers can do nothing about these things. What they can do is remember that the airline personnel taking care of them are doing there best to get them to their destinations.
Make sure to research what the weather is going to be like in your destination. This will allow you to pack more appropriately. If it will be cold, you will need to take lots of layers. If it will be warm, then you know you can pack a lot of light weight clothing and sandals.
One simple tip for hotel safety is to carry a small rubber door stop with you. It can pack easily inside a shoe or even be carried in a jacket pocket if you're short on space. This door stop can be wedged under the door at night, to prevent midnight visitors.
Use vacuum bags to pack more into your carry-on luggage. Trying to fit everything you'll need for your trip into a carry-on-sized bag can be challenging. To maximize the space, try using travel vacuum bags for your clothes. You insert your clothes, zip the bag, and roll it to remove the air. Just be sure to unpack as soon as you arrive at your destination so that your clothes have time to return to their normal shape.
Because security does not allow you to lock your luggage, you run the risk of the zippers coming undone and your belongings leaving a trail across the country and around the baggage claim. To help prevent this, use zip ties, which hold the zipper together, but can easily be cut off (with little cost to you) by security, if necessary.
When going on a cruise, wear your room key around your neck, on a lanyard or similar item. Losing your room key on a cruise ship can cost you greatly, not only in money, but in lost time. Keeping your key with you wherever you go can insure that you, and your belongings, will be safe.
Traveling is one of the greatest experiences one can have in life. The ability to meet new people, explore new places, and learn about new cultures is unprecedented. The tips in this article should serve you well on your exciting adventures.

Exploring the Best International Calling Plans in UK
Finding the best international calling plans in UK can be challenging, but with the right research, you can find a plan that fits your calling habits. Providers like Vodafone, O2, and EE offer tailored international bundles that allow you to make calls at a fraction of the regular cost. Whether you're calling the U.S., Europe, or countries farther afield, these plans help reduce the expense of international communication. It's also worth exploring apps that offer competitive international rates, such as Skype or WhatsApp. Many UK mobile providers offer add-ons to regular plans that include international minutes, helping you save on both local and global calls. Always review the fine print to ensure there are no hidden costs or limitations.
How International Calling Plans in UK Benefit Businesses?
Businesses that rely on international communication can significantly benefit from international calling plans in UK. These plans enable companies to stay connected with overseas clients, suppliers, and partners without incurring high phone bills. By choosing a plan that offers competitive rates to specific countries or regions, businesses can streamline their communication costs. Additionally, many providers offer customizable plans tailored to business needs, including dedicated lines for international calls and bulk minute packages. This ensures that companies can maintain consistent communication with their global network while keeping their expenses in check, making it an essential tool for international business growth.
Top International Calling Plans in UK for Expats
For expatriates living in the UK, staying connected to their home country is often a top priority. International calling plans in UK tailored for expats offer convenient and cost-effective ways to maintain communication with friends and family abroad. These plans typically focus on providing discounted or unlimited minutes to specific countries, making it easier for expats to stay in touch without worrying about high costs. With a variety of options available, including mobile apps and dedicated SIM cards, expats can choose the best plan that suits their unique needs, ensuring they remain connected to their loved ones back home.
Prepaid International Calling Plans in UK: Flexibility and Savings
Prepaid international calling plans in UK are a popular choice for users who want flexibility and control over their phone expenses. These plans allow you to purchase a set number of international minutes in advance, ensuring that you don’t overspend. Prepaid options are ideal for people who need to make occasional international calls without committing to a monthly contract. With the ability to top up your balance as needed, prepaid plans offer a practical and budget-friendly solution for staying connected with people abroad. Many UK providers offer prepaid options, making it easy to find a plan that fits your needs.
International Calling Add-Ons: Boosting Your UK Plan
If you already have a UK mobile plan but need to make international calls occasionally, add-on packages might be the perfect solution. Many providers offer international calling plans in UK as an additional feature to their regular mobile plans, allowing users to boost their existing service with international minutes. These add-ons are typically offered at a lower cost than standalone plans, making them an affordable option for people who only need international calling as a supplementary service. This flexibility ensures you can manage your communication needs without overhauling your entire mobile plan.
Unlimited International Calling Plans in UK: Ideal for Frequent Callers
For those who need to make frequent international calls, unlimited international calling plans in UK are an excellent option. These plans allow users to call specific countries without worrying about running out of minutes or facing high fees. Providers like Vodafone and EE offer packages that include unlimited calls to a set number of destinations, perfect for staying connected with family and business contacts. While these plans may come at a higher monthly rate, they offer unbeatable convenience and cost savings for regular international callers, ensuring that you stay connected as often as needed without exceeding your budget.
International Calling Apps: An Alternative to Traditional Plans
For users who prefer not to commit to traditional international calling plans in UK, calling apps like Skype, WhatsApp, and Viber provide an effective alternative. These apps allow you to make international calls over the internet, often at a lower cost or even for free. By using Wi-Fi or mobile data, you can bypass the high rates associated with regular phone plans. While apps may require a stable internet connection, they offer a flexible and modern approach to international communication, especially for users who frequently move between different countries.
Roaming vs. International Calling Plans in UK: What's the Difference?
Understanding the difference between roaming and international calling plans in UK is essential for choosing the right service. Roaming typically refers to using your UK phone abroad, allowing you to make and receive calls as if you were still in the UK. However, roaming charges can be expensive, especially outside of Europe. In contrast, international calling plans focus on making calls from the UK to other countries, offering significantly lower rates. Knowing when to use each service can help you manage your phone expenses effectively, ensuring that you only pay for what you need when calling abroad.
Conclusion
International calling plans in UK offer a practical solution for affordable global communication. Whether you opt for prepaid plans, mobile apps, or specialized add-ons to your current service, these plans make it easier to connect with loved ones or conduct business internationally. The key to finding the perfect plan lies in understanding your specific needs, destination countries, and calling frequency. By taking the time to compare options and explore the various features of each plan, you can simplify your international calling experience while keeping costs low and communication reliable.

A: After consuming the daily data limit on most BSNL plans, the internet speed will be reduced to 40 Kbps. 10 Travel Tips For Bhutan: Packing, Permits, And Practical Advice
May 29, 2024

word334354
Bhutan, the Land of the Thunder Dragon, is a mystical destination known for its stunning landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and unique approach to happiness and governance. Traveling to Bhutan requires some preparation to ensure a smooth and enjoyable journey. Here are 10 essential travel tips for Bhutan, focusing on packing, permits, and practical advice. The nightlife in Bhutanis no less fun for people looking for offbeat experiences.
1. Understand the Visa and Permit Requirements
One of the first things you need to know about traveling to Bhutan is the visa and permit process. Except for citizens of India, Bangladesh, and the Maldives, all visitors to Bhutan need a visa. This visa must be arranged through a licensed Bhutanese tour operator or one of their international partners.
The process typically involves:
Booking a tour package: Independent travel is not allowed, so you must book a tour package with a registered tour operator.
Visa application: Your tour operator will apply for your visa on your behalf. You will need to provide a passport copy and pay the visa fee of $40.
Entry permits: If you plan to visit places beyond the Paro and Thimphu regions, you will need additional permits, which your tour operator can arrange.
Ensure all permits are in place before your departure to avoid any complications upon arrival.
2. Choose the Right Time to Visit
Bhutan has a varied climate due to its diverse topography, and the best time to visit largely depends on what you want to experience. The most popular times are:
Spring (March to May): Ideal for trekking and enjoying the blooming rhododendrons and other flora.
Autumn (September to November): Best for clear skies and major festivals like Thimphu Tshechu.
3. Pack Appropriately for the Climate
Bhutan’s weather can vary significantly depending on the altitude and time of year. Here’s a basic packing list:
Layered clothing: The weather can change quickly, so layers are essential. Bring thermal wear for higher altitudes.
Rain gear: If traveling during the monsoon, pack a waterproof jacket and an umbrella.
Comfortable walking shoes: Many tours involve walking and light trekking, so sturdy, comfortable shoes are a must.
Formal attire: If you plan to visit monasteries or attend festivals, pack modest, respectful clothing. Women should bring long skirts or dresses, and men should have collared shirts.
Don’t forget essentials like sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and a reusable water bottle.
4. Stay Connected with Local SIM Cards
While Bhutan is known for its serene and remote landscapes, staying connected is relatively easy. Local SIM cards are readily available and can be purchased at the airport or in major towns. TashiCell and B-Mobile are the two main providers. Make sure your phone is unlocked, and choose a prepaid plan that suits your data and calling needs. Wi-Fi is available in most hotels and some public places, but having a local SIM ensures you stay connected in more remote areas.
5. Respect Local Customs and Traditions
Bhutan is a deeply traditional and religious country. To show respect and avoid inadvertently offending locals:
Dress modestly: Cover your arms and legs when visiting temples and monasteries.
Remove shoes and hats: Always take off your shoes and hat before entering religious sites.
Photography: Ask for permission before taking photos of people, especially monks and in religious settings. Photography inside temples and monasteries is generally not allowed.
Buddhist etiquette: Walk clockwise around stupas and mani walls, and don’t point your feet at people or religious objects when sitting.
6. Be Prepared for Limited ATM Access
While major towns like Thimphu and Paro have ATMs, they can be unreliable or run out of cash. Credit cards are accepted in larger hotels and shops, but it’s advisable to carry enough cash for smaller purchases and in rural areas. The local currency is the Bhutanese Ngultrum (BTN), which is pegged to the Indian Rupee (INR). Indian Rupees are also widely accepted in Bhutan, except for the INR 500 and INR 2000 notes.
7. Prioritize Health and Safety
Healthcare facilities in Bhutan are basic, especially outside major towns. Here are some health and safety tips:
Travel insurance: Make sure you have comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies and evacuations.
Medications: Bring any prescription medications you need, as they may not be available locally. Also, carry a basic first aid kit.
Altitude sickness: If traveling to high-altitude areas, acclimatize gradually and stay hydrated to prevent altitude sickness.
Vaccinations: Check with your healthcare provider about necessary vaccinations before traveling.
Waterborne diseases can be a concern, so drink bottled or filtered water and avoid ice in drinks.
8. Plan Your Itinerary Wisely
Bhutan offers a plethora of attractions, from the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery to the vibrant festivals and pristine natural parks. Here are some highlights:
Paro Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest Monastery): A must-visit, this sacred site perched on a cliff is a challenging but rewarding hike.
Punakha Dzong: Known for its stunning architecture and scenic location at the confluence of two rivers.
Thimphu: The capital city offers a blend of tradition and modernity, with attractions like the Tashichho Dzong and the National Memorial Chorten.
Bumthang Valley: Known as the spiritual heartland of Bhutan, it’s home to numerous ancient temples and monasteries.
9. Experience Local Cuisine
Bhutanese cuisine is distinct and flavorful, with a focus on red rice, buckwheat, and chili peppers. Must-try dishes include:
Ema Datshi: The national dish made with chilies and cheese.
Phaksha Paa: Pork cooked with spicy red chilies.
Jasha Maru: A spicy chicken dish often served with rice.
Momos: Tibetan-style dumplings filled with meat or vegetables.
Vegetarians will find plenty of options, but be prepared for a lot of spice! Bhutanese people often enjoy their food with a side of chili paste called ezay.
Conclusion
Traveling to Bhutan is a unique and enriching experience that requires some careful planning and preparation. By following these 10 travel tips for Bhutan—covering packing, permits, and practical advice—you’ll be well-equipped to enjoy everything this enchanting country has to offer. From understanding visa requirements and respecting local customs to embracing the slow travel ethos, these tips will help you make the most of your journey to the Land of the Thunder Dragon.
