The Valley by The Oh Hellos: A Biblical Song Analysis
*Full analysis under the cut*
By @glass-strawberries and @glass--grapes
Author's note: we grew up Christian and we love whimsical music so hearing all these references from our childhood hit pretty well. We wanted to analyze it and share all the references because The Oh Hellos are honestly some of the best lyricists we’ve seen.
This analysis does contain references to Genius Lyrics where we didn’t know what the lyrics were referring to. We didn’t copy them, but we added additional information.
The Valley
Background/song summary: The Valley is the first track in The Oh Hellos Through the Deep, Dark Valley. Though the album is coined as a concept album, the concept itself is very loose. The album was made in respect to love, journeys, and righting past wrongs.
This song is about the struggle and confusion of being born into wickedness or sin, as all humans are following the fall of humanity (the original sin). The speaker seeks a leader to the light.
Lyric Analysis:
We were born in the valley Of the dead and the wicked
A reference to the Valley of Canaan, the ancient land that is now known as Israel/ Palestine.
That our father's father found And where we laid him down
Moses led the Israelites to the land of Canaan as they were fleeing Egyptian captivity. Before Moses could get there, he essentially pissed off God and was banished from entering the promised land. He dies in Moab and God buries him there(Deuteronomy 34).
We were born in the shadow Of the crimes of our fathers
After the fall of humanity, every human ever born is born with sin. The “fathers” in this sense is everyone who came before them(Romans 3:23-24). The speaker struggles with discrimination and labels placed on them from their fathers.
Blood was our inheritance No, we did not ask for this Will you lead me?
Canaanites were considered wicked, and were killed in a genocide against them. The speaker resents the sin that they have inherited, having been credited to this crime against the Canaanites. They once again yearn for a leader.
We were young when we heard you call Our names in the silence Like a fire in the dark
The speaker did not know God until they started to hope for a leader or divine intervention. God says that He will reveal Himself to those who truly seek him(1 John 3:2). The Bible states that when God calls out to you, He will call you by name and you will know immediately that it was Him that was speaking (Isaiah 43:1).
Like a sword upon our hearts We came down to the water And we begged for forgiveness
Water baptism is a symbolic representation of death in the flesh and being brought back to life in a new “body” that will “live” forever. The purpose of baptism is defined differently in different branches of Christianity and even among churches, but the two popular ones are:
To proclaim your faith publicly(either way, you are saved as long as you have faith)
To become a true christian and be saved(you will not be saved unless you are baptized)
The singer chose to repent for their sins. Shadows lurking close behind We were fleeing for our lives Will you lead me?
Psalm 23:3- He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Quiet Time 9/4
What am I feeling today?
I’m feeling pretty encouraged! I got so kind many messages yesterday celebrating my one year as a disciple and I just truly felt loved and cared for. Although, I’m not so much feeling anxious per se, I’m just feeling anticipatory about a few things. There’s a conversation I need to have with someone tonight that I’ve been putting off for months now. Also I just have campus things to do and then I have to prepare to share for communion as well and I’m just feeling a tad overwhelmed but I just keep giving it over to God in prayer.
Bible Plan: Rethinking Love and Romance
Another story that helps us understand true love comes from the book of Ruth. Some see this book as the Hebrew Bible’s famous love story. Girl gleans in a field. Boy sees girl gleaning. Girl uncovers boy’s feet (we’ll have to unpack that one later). Boy marries girl. A baby is born. The end. It’s like a Hallmark movie, right? But what if it’s not like a modern love story at all?
The story begins with an Israelite family in the land of Moab. Naomi and Elimelech have two sons who are married to Moabite women, one named Ruth and the other Orpah. Tragically, Naomi’s husband and two sons die. All Ruth and Orpah have left is their widowed mother-in-law, Naomi, who has nothing to give them. Naomi says she will return to her hometown, Bethlehem, and that Ruth and Orpah should stay in Moab with their own people (Ruth 1:11-13). Naomi has nothing more to give Ruth or Orpah that might “complete them” or satisfy them, and she warns against staying with her because doing so will surely bring more suffering.
Orpah agrees with Naomi’s logic, but Ruth expresses true love toward Naomi through a profound commitment, saying, “Where you go, I will go. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God” (Ruth 1:16). Ruth promises to stay by Naomi’s side and take care of her. As the story unfolds and other people see Ruth’s loyalty to Naomi, they call her actions “loyal love,” or in Hebrew, “khesed” (Ruth 3:10-11). Khesed is marked by deep feelings of affection shown through acts of generosity and forgiveness and a commitment to the other’s well-being. It is an outward expression of real love.
Ruth’s khesed is not conditional or based on what Naomi can do for her. Her khesed is a gift—an outpouring of her loving character.
Later in the story, Boaz can’t help but notice Ruth’s loyal love (Ruth 3:11). He blesses her, and she reciprocates with loving generosity, leading to his desire to marry her. The authors parallel his loving commitment to Ruth’s—Boaz embraces the way of loyal love toward their family.
What kind of love is this? Could love between a mother and daughter-in-law teach us what it means to love someone romantically? The Bible gives us a beautiful picture of true love even though it doesn’t fit into modern ideas about romantic love. Wouldn't the best, most intense and fulfilling romantic relationship a person could experience be one where each person in the relationship acts in ways that preserve, protect, and cause flourishing for the other? To give and not take? To consider the other’s needs above their own? To humbly sacrifice for the mutual blessing, shalom (Hebrew for “peace” or “wholeness”), and tov of the other?
In today’s video, explore the story of Ruth, a tale of love, loss, faithfulness, and redemption.
youtube
Ruth 1:16-18 NIV
“But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.” When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her.”
I feel like these verses encapsulate the love that we are meant to be shown by Ruth. She was so incredibly loyal to Naomi and it was truly admirable! Through the video and explanation above you can see that the powerful act of love had a lasting impact and even lead to the birth of Jesus which is so incredible! God’s hand is in everything, His plan is unfolding exactly as it needs to and it’s just so fascinating how everything is connected in a bigger picture that we cannot even begin to fathom.

I find it to be an incredible lack of self awareness that Kamala called J6 “the worst attack on our democracy since the civil war” on the eve of 9/11.
It would’ve been better to have a 9/11 than for some Feds to wander around the capitol and entrap a bunch of (mostly old) people, according to her.
This woman is insane
I watched through the whole debate and realized how completely screwed the situation is either way. It’s just a matter of choosing to be shot by a MOAB or a complete nuke.
Americans aren’t sending our best.

could you make a post about all the books from comedians you own/have ordered and which are your favorites I want to buy all of them but don't know where to start ++++++++ would love to know if you know of a way to order a signed copy of David's book if I don't live in the UK
you know, in a stroke of what may be relevant information, i'm actually an editorial director by day and even used to be a literary agent here in nyc — none of which is obvious on account of my billion rushed typos and...just...general existence :) (i promise i'm supremely carefully handed in my editing!!! and have a lot of resources, at my job hahahahaha oh god maybe i shouldn't have mentioned this!!!) — but i'm really no book critic and have no idea how my tastes stack up against what a lot of you are looking for. i'm happy to share some of my general, poorly articulated internet thoughts but it may be more worth checking out goodreads or talking with others who have more experience with autobiographies (which a majority of these types of books are)!
to begin with a disclaimer, one of my friends texted me recently, "why do you only watch sad movies?" i love sad films, sad music, i love to cry, catharsis, sentimentality which is always a little self-indulgent. it's a bit ironic, because this is a comedy blog and you guys know me as someone who loves to find things to laugh about and i fill my life with so much silliness through his huge, life-long hobby, but, all the same, that is only one side of me, i guess. i'm saying this now because you're about to hear me talk briefly about a few somewhat-to-incredibly sad books and be like "oh i didn't know this what i was getting into" 😅
books i do recommend:
just ignore him by alan davies — this isn't a book review but i am self-conscious about just how i describe this book, because it's so sensitive and i carry a lot of respect for alan. at the time of publication, alan actually didn't want any of the press to know and/or discuss the most tragic elements of the book, so readers wouldn't be influenced in any direction before confronting it themselves. (it's okay to talk about now of course, and anyone should know there are major trigger warnings for death, child abuse, sexual abuse, and pedophilia.) it is a sad book about his earliest years: the complexities and nuances of male power and manipulation, of unimaginable loneliness, of a lost child. alan said it wasn't cathartic to write—that is was indeed very painful—but the vulnerability, the commitment to shirking himself of the painful silence he endured for most of his life, is exceptionally moving. alan's writing can be quite thorough, even flowery, in creating vivid places and images, so so much of the heaviness feels piercing and even disturbing. if you read other comedians' books, a decent majority of them are written in the style of standup or, say, a ted talk — with performance in mind, specific structures and beats that mimic how they'd tell these stories on stage. i would argue this is quite different to that, that while the writing is in a style and structure that benefits being read aloud this is a very different alan to alan the performer. and, very honestly, i'm really not an audiobook person, not to mention listening is a wholly different experience to reading — but the audiobook for this is phenomenal: alan narrates and, while of course it's his story so he'll tell it best, he is a very gentle, thoughtful storyteller. this will be you by chapter 4:
Tumblr media
moab is my washpot + fry chronicles by stephen fry — the first and second of his three autobiographies covering some of the most sensational times (stephen is willing to admit) of his childhood and teen years + his rise to fame through the cambridge footlights. these are good reads for 1) stephen fry fans duh and 2) people who can enjoy the inspiration of auden, waugh, wilde, wodehouse, quintessential english writers who inform the foundation of stephen's relationship with literature and appreciation. stephen is painfully honest — and often sorry for it, apologising for what he perceives to be his shortcomings — and you can't help but feel, even early on in the first book, that his view of his own world is somehow even more subjective than everyone else's views of their own worlds. maybe it's because he's so judgmental, maybe it's his oscillating mental health, maybe it's the shocking thrust with which he was confronted with the wideness of the world...i'm not sure, but stephen's life through stephen's eyes is so very stephen-y. i think that's why we love him‚ though i can see some people loathing the less admirable sides of him, which he does show, so don't read this if you want to maintain some image of him that helps you cope or keeps you perfectly entertained. if you're not british, the fry chronicles is an especially good read to scratch some of your anglophilic interests (lotsss of namedropping and backstage chat)!
delicacy: a memoir about cake and death by katy wix — one of my recent faves and another book that isn't thoroughly funny. told in 21 vignettes either centered around or vaguely related to cake, katy talks about her school life, grief and loss, self-esteem and body image, misogyny — in ways that are just...matter of fact...opposed to lessons learned or things she's working on through therapy. she's accepted a lot, but she's also afflicted by a lot to this day; she's capably honest about where her reality stands. for this reason, it can be a bleak and certainly very raw read. i listened to the audiobook for this one, which was nice, but i much recommend the actual written book as the vignettes are in different formats (short story prose, letters, email exchanges) that often anchor time and place, intention, even the little peeks of light of comedy. katy's writing is very lovely, both my heart and mind were touched.
back story by david mitchell — a mildly vulnerable, moderately insightful, and quite humorous exploration of david's up-and-coming years. i really appreciate the premise — due a bad back and sciatica, he begins taking very long walks every day, and these walks trigger memories and anecdotes as he passes certain places — that really doesn't come off as a gimmick. it's a very easy read (or listen) and what i'd consider an uncomplicated, unproblematic bio, but it would be difficult to enjoy if you're only a casual fan of david mitchell or only like him in his most recent dad years, as it was written in his peep show heyday and is so much about those years of his life, his relationship with robert webb, etc. a good intro-to-the-genre book and the very first britcom book i read way back in 2010!
i also really enjoy graham norton's books — especially for the goss, but he's a great writer and his debut fiction novel got quite good reviews! — and tim key's books of poetry, though you really need to be a fan of tim key to read tim key :')
books i do not recommend:
before & laughter by jimmy carr — this book is much less of an autobiography (details are scant and anecdotes are few; it's cute when he refers to karoline as "my girl") and much more a collection of 1) jimmy's interpretation of contemporary comedy and what it means to be a comedian, and 2) how that journey, and his evolving attitudes, shaped him + became advice he would offer to others. this is why he calls the book adjacent to self help & motivational speaking. i don't think it teaches you anything new about him — literally or as a writer — so i don't recommend reading it, though the audiobook (where he's truly performing the writing like a ted talk) is an easy listen. a lot of people will not understand that jimmy is overwhelmingly sincere in regards to all of the topics and personal philosophies the jimmy nearing 50 espouses. he's someone with very studied, thorough personal philosophies (if you've seen him on podcasts talking about his life and career then you'll know just what i mean) and he explains them deftly, but they can feel a bit...how should i say this...flat to people who have heard a lot of it before, in hollywood movies or from their own parents or wherever. he didn't write this just for another stream of income — he is passionate about these conversations and that counts for something. overall i already knew a bit about the guy and didn't need this.
my shit life so far by frankie boyle — i have never read one of frankie's fiction novels (crime is really not my thing, so someone needs to let me know if richard osman's book series is a smash because i'm only going to check them out if i'm convinced to), but as a long-time fan of his, knowing how much of a wordsmith he is, and how intentional he is in everything he says, i was surprised by how dull i found this. his shit life was just that — uninteresting, meandering. his anecdotes may have worked better aloud than on paper, but they didn't grab me. you learn a bit about his young adulthood, but like jimmy he's intensely private and i could feel that distance between us even while reading an autobiography. it didn't work for me, super sad about it :(
can everyone please calm down? by mae martin — instead of criticising this book, i'd rather just make a disclaimer or two. if you are already engaged in queer discourses and dialogues, you are not going to learn very much from this book. both the descriptive writing and presentation of research is "accessible" to the point i'd call it more adjacent to YA than adult literature; if you prefer more creative, complicated, and/or signature writing styles, this book is not for you. if you are a big fan of mae martin and would appreciate an overview of their journey on the identity spectrum (going so far as to even rejecting it, in some capacities) in one place, then this may be convenient — but even then, at this point, it's somewhat outdated. imo a well-intention skip.
phil wang and tom allen are two more i think don't convince me with their writing, but i'm still making my ways through a couple of books and could probably talk more about this later!
i have never made this kind of non-fiction bio a priority on my long reading list, so i still have a lot of exploring and catching up to do, but i'm finding that i do prefer the books that explore the events of comedian's past as well as those that walk the reader through experiences in the comedy & tv industries. there are a lot of books about mental health and identity, which may be more of what many of you are looking for (sara pascoe, fern brady, jon richardson, and more).
okaY PHEW SORRY i always type too much 😒
first, as for david mitchell's new book, you can order it signed from waterstones as they ship to the usa — and it's currently half off!!!!! if you want to buy it unsigned from a usa retailer amazon is cheapest and target & bookshop are the cheapest non-amazon options :) an audiobook is coming out as well, so i do believe i will be able to add that to googledrive before too long, but no guarantees on a good time frame!
you can go here to download any of the ebooks & audiobooks i have on my googledrive!

hi . what is blaseball. looking it up i cant find anything except that it Ended which is extremely unhelpful . but i'm intrigued by ur au
YAYAYYYYY YOU'VE ACTIVATED MY AUTISM TRAP CARD. whisp i also have an uncompleted beastlife one that i'll offer you here once i'm done explaining.
so! blaseball was (rest in violence) a live play video game that combined aspects of roleplay, fandom, and TTRPGS with text based video games, and it ran from July 2020-June 2023 (specifically starting on july 20th, hence my reblogging of all my au posts today). blaseball was a surrealist horror game based off of america's favorite past time, baseball! in order to play blaseball, you had to make an account on the website and choose one of 24 teams to be a fan of. you then watched as the seasons played out, with one full season taking one real life week.
each season was made up of 99 games plus a postseason of indeterminate length. games were played every hour on the hour, with the regular season playing out monday-friday. the post season had it's wild card rounds on friday afternoon, and then the rest of the post season played out on saturday. sunday had no games, with the entire day being reserved for the election results, which came out at 3 PM EST every sunday.
what is the election? well, this is where the fans come in! throughout the season, you could bet on games (as well as do some other stuff that's not wildly relevant) in order to get coins. you could use these coins to buy votes, and use these votes to change the game in the election. each election had a few things you could vote on (two in the first 11 seasons of the game, and 3 in the last 13. i will only be discussing the first two of them here, as the third isn't super relevant.) the first was decrees, of which there were usually 3-6, and they were new rules that would apply to the entire league. only 1 or 2 would pass every season, based on which got the majority of the league's votes. the second was blessings, which acted as boosts for your team and/or handicaps for your opposing teams. there were usually 10+ blessings available, and they would all (usually) be rewarded to the team that put the most votes into them.
elections are where the surrealist horror comes in. in the first election of blaseball, there was one decree titled "open the forbidden book". it had no description, and fans were repeatedly warned against voting for it. as you may expect, it got 60% of the vote immediately. upon it passing, we were punished for our hubris. the moab dessert became a hellmouth, the world began to fracture, and umpires began to be able to "go rogue" during games played under solar eclipses. when umps go rogue, they straight up kill players by setting them on fire. the best player in the league (at the time) was also instantly killed as further punishment for opening the book. so yeah, that sure is where the horror came in!
there's a lot more that happened after all that, but that's the basic primer. if you want more, i'd really recommend the blaseball roundup, which was a recap show made by the company that made the game, the game band. it covers seasons 1-22, so almost the entire game, and it was made by an in universe character (the anchor), so you get a good grasp on the vibes of the whole thing as well. there are 5 episodes, all under 20 minutes, so it's not too much of a commitment and it's a lot of fun.
a quick primer on how my aus work- each au (the life series, empires, and hermitcraft) are separate universes from each other, all running simultaneously alongside one another. they pretty much just follow the plot of actual blaseball, but with a focus on these new guys instead of that aforementioned plot. some of them do fill in for actual characters, but the majority of them do not, and the ones who do fill in for those actual characters just go through said character's story beats.
now, beast life au! i'm just gonna copy paste all my google doc into this under the cut, as a special treat.
SATURDAY LEAGUE
Dingo: Batter for the Hellmouth Sunbeams. Dingo becomes much more boar when the Hellmouth opens, having been a pretty normal human prior. Had an unhelpful modifier rerolled during the Expansion Era, giving them a Debt. Thus far the only victim has been Bree, but the Debt remains.
Modifications: Debt, Life of the Party
Kiki: Pitcher for the Yellowstone Magic. Has spearheaded many a resurrection, drawing the ire of a lot of the league to the Magic, as players with Debt keep ending up on the team because of him. Sonic and Kiki both picked up the Siphon modifier at the same time, but Kiki makes much less use of it. His only successful saves as a Seeker have been for Fishie. He also picks up the Traitor modifier during Expansion for. Reasons.
Modifications: Siphon, Seeker, Traitor
Sonic: Starts as a pitcher for the Boston Flowers. Very, very good at what she does, partially due to pure skill and partially due to Siphoning a lot of other players. They rocket up the Idol Board as a result of their skill. They spend at least some amount of time Shelled as a result, though she gets pecked out pretty frequently as well. He is taken by the Shelled One to play for the PODS and falls to the Charleston Shoe Thieves after Season 10, Day X, where she has stayed since. At some point in the Expansion Era, Sonic Shelled Null, hence Space’s one sided hatred of them.
Modifications: Siphon, Parasite, Honey Roasted
John: Batter for the Miami Dale.
Modifications: Redacted, Electric, Life of the Party
Fishie: Pitcher for the Baltimore Crabs. Fishie has a penchant for being swept Elsewhere, having had two particularly extensive stints that resulted in her returning with significant memory loss until the Scattered modification wore off. The first time lasted about a season, and the second one got close to it, but both of these stays were cut short by Kiki dragging her back. Unrelated to the above, but due to the carcinization, she has a crab arm.
Modifications: Scattered [sometimes], Life of the Party
Phia: Batter for the Houston Spies. Phia lies low most of the time, managing to avoid the ire and love alike of the fans, which is pretty much entirely to faer benefit. Phia is/was the member of the Spies that Broku is/was closest to post-alternation, as she didn’t know Oku well at all and didn’t have the cognitive dissonance after all that. Pregame ritual is making stew.
Modifications: 0 No (this is technically a Blood Type and not a Modifier, but whatever)
Null: Batter for the New York Millennials.
Modifications: Shelled (that one time), Redacted
Space: Batter for the Hawai’i Fridays.
Modifications: None
Joe: Batter for the LA Unlimited Tacos. Joe was one of the victims of the Wyatt Mason-ing, an event where the universe fragmented and the entire LA Tacos team was turned into the worst player on the team briefly. Don’t worry about it. Joe was one of the players who did not get their full name returned to them, with the last name “Flyaway” being replaced by “Mason”. After the fact, Joe had a relatively normal time as the Tacos deliberately put themselves through God’s silliest hell. Joe became a Receiver (hooked up to the Microphone, which is possessed by the previously mentioned Wyatt Mason, again, don’t worry about it) due to nebulous shenanigans mostly because I thought it’d be funny. Receivers have a lot of weirdness going on that I think suits Joe’s “guy from the real world who got put in here” vibe, just trust me.
Modifications: Receiver
Bree: Batter for the Breckenridge Jazz Hands. Oku and Bree were together before season 4, when Oku was affected by the Alternate Reality decree. Bree originally attempted to maintain a relationship with Broku, which did not work, and Bree took this very poorly. Bree made an attempt to get herself alternated as well, but players have no voting power, and Bree’s stats weren’t enough of a nightmare that it occurred to any Fans to Alternate her. At some point in the Expansion Era, Bree was killed by Dingo, and now makes frequent ghost appearances via Haunting Echidna.
Modifications: None
Oak: Batter for the Hades Tigers.
Modifications:
Oku: Batter for the Houston Spies. Oku and Bree were together until season 4, when Oku was affected by the Alternate Reality decree and Alternated, switching places with Broku. This obviously put significant strain on the relationship, and Broku has become far more involved with/close to the Spies in the wake. Broku also potentially got Redacted? Not sure about that yet.
Modifications: Alternate, Redacted[?]
Echidna: Batter for the Hades Tigers.
Modifications: Haunted
Gery: Batter for the Tokyo Lift.
Modifications:
Moch: Batter for the Seattle Garages.
Modifications:
Mei: Batter for the Mexico City Wild Wings.
Modifications: Redacted, Life of the Party
FRIDAY LEAGUE
Dingo: Pitcher for the Atlantis Georgias, originally a pitcher for the Dallas Steaks
Modifications: None
Kiki: Batter for the Boston Flowers
Modifications: None
Tom: Batter for the Hades Tigers
Modifications: Siphon, Supperyummy
Sonic: Pitcher for Hellmouth Sunbeams
Modifications: None
Eker: Batter for the Kansas City Breath Mints
Modifications: None
Phia: Batter for the Miami Dale
Modifications: None
Viz: Batter for the Houston Spies from their shadows, spent a season on the Canada Moist Talkers but went back
Modifications: None
Jack: Batter for the New York Millennials
Modifications: Haunted
Echidna: Batter for the San Diego Saltines who died in Pre-History and Haunted Jack for a while
Modifications: None

Alright, doing this again now that I'm not freaking out.
Hi, I'm Mika, and I'm a Pokémon now. I used to be human, but then I woke up in the middle of nowhere as a Furret, and now I'm living with Gen's family and a few fellow eebies! He/Him!
Present Mika here! Since then, I've adopted a Sentret called Niko that sometimes comes on here. He's... not the best at typing though, so any posts from him will be tagged #Niko Time to let people with screenreaders not have to be stuck reading a mess of symbols.
I also got sent a weird crystal that's left me hybridised for the foreseeable future. Here's what I look like now.

Hi! It's the person behind @genesis-override. now with one of these new-fangled human-to-Pokémon blogs! This is mainly inspired by @/whimsical-westbrook and @/goldenrodchef, but some credit should also go to @/skating-mienfoo-friend, @/shocking-shinx, @/ruffled--feathers, @/jayden-the-popplio, and @/meowing-at-the-director for their blogs giving me the motivation to commit!
I'll probably end up doing a few suggestive posts, and I'm fine with suggestive asks, but nothing blatantly NSFW. This guy also gets excessively vulgar at times (mostly just untargeted exclamations), so keep an eye out for that.

HOW IN THE FUCKING FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO LIVE A NORMAL LIFE KNOWING NOW THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED?!
I've had at least 2 brief dreams regarding Star Wars in my 27 years of existence.
The 1st one was when I first saw Revenge years ago. I still specifically remember saying to my cousin "what if he didn't turn? Would those kids have survived?" That was fucking 18 years ago, I was 9 years old then. 2nd dream was when I first watched the duel between Obi Wan and Vader last year. Same dream, "Would it have been different had it not turned? A What If?"
What in the hell, this opens so much justification for us to have a Star Wars What If. IT JUST DOES. THIS EPISODE ALONE, EXUDES SO MUCH EVIDENCE MY LAWD, YOUR HONORS. PROSECUTOR PRESENTS THE EVIDENCE TO THE JURY YOUR HONOR!!!!!!
I have always thought of seeing Hayden in Clone Wars form, even if it meant just fanart but holy fucking shit David Filoni, you just dropped a heartstopping MOAB there just like Luke's fucking hallway scene in The Mandalorian. This is something I will keep on thinking about for days, even weeks on end. I have this extremely soft spot for Hayden, not because he's Canadian but he played Anakin so well and I knew I had to defend him from the detractors back then. Now, he's come back in the midst of a literal love tsunami and he cries about it, and that is just the most wholesome thing I've seen in fandom since Spider-Man: No Way Home when all three Spider Men were finally together and both Toby and Andrew were officially canonized into the MCU. And can we just talk about Ahsoka? This Gray Jedi has come a long fucking way from the little padawan that a lot did not like a decade ago to literally one of the best aside from Anakin, Obi-Wan and Luke. I know I know I'm a stan but she also exudes Master Qui Gon energy, because both her mentors were apprentices of his, so naturally his teachings would pass down to her. AND I FOR ONE DO NOT HAVE ANY QUALMS ABOUT THAT!
This I think is the best Star Wars we've gotten since Andor, and I still need to watch that as well. DAVID FUCKING FILONI, YOU HAVE DONE IT AGAIN. YOU HAVE DONE IT AGAIN!!!!!!! DAYUUUUM! 🤣😁😁

So, you may have seen this reblog I made to the original post, and even OP poked in to say things got a bit misworded (no hate to them, it's super easy on the internet for that to happen) SO I am just going to break some stuff down here, and share my own password manager etc.
I'm also writing this so that OP doesn't have to keep going 'don't reblog this' because that feels straight up cruel lmao.
Keep in mind I am not a cyber security specialist. I am not an IT person, I do not have a degree or anything like that.
I am a person on the internet, and you should take the step to look into things yourself and absolutely not just take my word on this.
What is going and what is the Mother of All Breaches?
The Mother of All Breaches (MOAB) is a major data leak that I think most of you have seen talked about on cybernews here. The article brings up what this entails, what it means and that's great and dandy- but I think most people honestly just reblogged and didn't quite read it.
So let me kill some of the fear here.
Tumblr media
The leak concerns mainly data from past breaches, this means that the information can be as old as over 3 years old depending on when the leak occured. This isn't a sudden leak of billions of files over night, nobody is a super villain just yet.
This is also mentioned again here by Brooke Wagner.
Tumblr media
And further pointed out by Davey Winder here.
Tumblr media
There is also an article where they speak to a cyber criminology expert about the matter here here.
And I pointed all of this out in my OG reblog, as welll as ways to defend yourself which I will just drop back down here!
Tumblr media
@/Oxbowreality added a really good addition that Firefox has a built in password manager and has a dandy guide on their reblog here. I
However as a friend of mine pointed out, Firefox Sync doesn't really sync to an account anywhere- meaning should you loose access to your browser you may be having some issues actually getting that information back.
A password manager does have backups however, and that's why I decided to make this little addition.
My friend recommended bitwarden. (please note, my friend is a security enthusiast and not the say all of all internet security, Bitwarden is not perfect nor foolproof thanks.)
I personally have started using bitwarden and best of yet, it's free. We love free shit in this house.
Like I have added little to no new information on here, don't get me wrong. But I also feel bad about just circulating a post where even the creator isn't super happy with what they wrote to begin with.

The Books of the Bible: Old Testament (1 of 2) The Books of the Bible in order with introductions and summaries for the Old Testament.
Tumblr media
The Five Books of the Law: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy
Genesis The Book of Genesis is the first book of the Christian Old Testament. Genesis speaks of beginnings and is foundational to the understanding of the rest of the Bible. It is supremely a book that speaks about relationships, highlighting those between God and his creation, between God and humankind, and between human beings.
Exodus The Book of Exodus is the second book of the Christian Old Testament. Exodus describes the history of the Israelites leaving Egypt after slavery. The book lays a foundational theology in which God reveals his name, his attributes, his redemption, his law and how he is to be worshiped.
Leviticus The Book of Leviticus is the third book of the Christian Old Testament. Leviticus receives its name from the Septuagint (the pre-Christian Greek translation of the Old Testament) and means "concerning the Levites" (the priests of Israel). It serves as a manual of regulations enabling the holy King to set up his earthly throne among the people of his kingdom. It explains how they are to be his holy people and to worship him in a holy manner.
Numbers The Book of Numbers is the fourth book of the Christian Old Testament. Numbers relates the story of Israel's journey from Mount Sinai to the plains of Moab on the border of Canaan. The book tells of the murmuring and rebellion of God's people and of their subsequent judgment.
Deuteronomy The Book of Deuteronomy is the fifth book of the Christian Old Testament. Deuteronomy ("repetition of the Law") serves as a reminder to God's people about His covenant. The book is a "pause" before Joshua's conquest begins and a reminder of what God required.
Historical Books: Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 and 2 Samuel, 1 and 2 Kings, and 1 and 2 Chronicles
Joshua Joshua is a story of conquest and fulfillment for the people of God. After many years of slavery in Egypt and 40 years in the desert, the Israelites were finally allowed to enter the land promised to their fathers.
Judges The book of Judges depicts the life of Israel in the Promised Land—from the death of Joshua to the rise of the monarchy. It tells of urgent appeals to God in times of crisis and apostasy, moving the Lord to raise up leaders (judges) through whom He throws off foreign oppressors and restores the land to peace.
Ruth The book of Ruth has been called one of the best examples of short narrative ever written. It presents an account of the remnant of true faith and piety in the period of the judges through the fall and restoration of Naomi and her daughter-in-law Ruth (an ancestor of King David and Jesus).
1 Samuel Samuel relates God's establishment of a political system in Israel headed by a human king. Through Samuel's life, we see the rise of the monarchy and the tragedy of its first king, Saul.
2 Samuel After the failure of King Saul, 2 Samuel depicts David as a true (though imperfect) representative of the ideal theocratic king. Under David's rule the Lord caused the nation to prosper, to defeat its enemies, and to realize the fulfillment of His promises.
1 Kings 1 Kings continues the account of the monarchy in Israel and God's involvement through the prophets. After David, his son Solomon ascends the throne of a united kingdom, but this unity only lasts during his reign. The book explores how each subsequent king in Israel and Judah answers God's call—or, as often happens, fails to listen.
2 Kings 2 Kings carries the historical account of Judah and Israel forward. The kings of each nation are judged in light of their obedience to the covenant with God. Ultimately, the people of both nations are exiled for disobedience.
1 Chronicles Just as the author of Kings had organized and interpreted Israel's history to address the needs of the exiled community, so the writer of 1 Chronicles wrote for the restored community another history.
2 Chronicles 2 Chronicles continues the account of Israel's history with an eye for restoration of those who had returned from exile.
Books of Poetry and Songs: Esther, Ezra, and Nehemiah
Ezra The book of Ezra relates how God's covenant people were restored from Babylonian exile to the covenant land as a theocratic (kingdom of God) community even while continuing under foreign rule.
Nehemiah Closely related to the book of Ezra, Nehemiah chronicles the return of this "cupbearer to the king" and the challenges he and the other Israelites face in their restored homeland.
Esther Esther records the institution of the annual festival of Purim through the historical account of Esther, a Jewish girl who becomes queen of Persia and saves her people from destruction.

OKAY I mostly wanted to show the best part of the trip North of Moab (after a bit of off-road driving) there's a trail to walk along A FOSSIL SITE. Yes I have to brag that I have touched fossils. Much more revitalizing than touching grass.
