Hi!

So I disappeared for a while. (Not like I have many followers who is interested in my shenanigans :D but mainly it's disappointing for myself because I really want to make this learning project to work.)

These last two months... but actually the last three were crazy. I am working in the film industry so production is usually couple of months (max. 2 years) long. And at the end (or 2/3) of the production is super busy. Overtime, even through the night... 4-5 hours of sleeping for weeks.... you get it. This was the case lately. In the beginning of October I managed to do inktober for almost 12 days but then multiple shit happened (mostly work and some other problems) and I was engrossed with them. Which is sad because October is one of my favourite months and I had big plans drawing-wise. Which I failed clearly.

But now. I finished my job one week ago (next starting on this thursday) and spent the last week with recreation (sleeping and reading) and making christmas presents (huge idiocracy but I love to make personal gifts for everyone and I have a huge family and kind a lot of close friends so for example this year I am making presents for 19 people (okay-okay, for some of them I am buying stuff but otherwise diy). Which is.... a clear sign that I am stupid.) Slowly but surely I am making it through the list. I'm gonna share a few of them here too, because only one of my friend is here on tumblr so the exception of her present I will show them. We just need some decent sunlight for photos....

Back to the four project per month system. I am not sure what to do. There was a plan for every week til March so now that I messed up I don't know if I should get back to the plan or like a madman try to do every failed October-November prompt. I am inclined for the latter because even if I like christmas, the autumn vibe is closer to my little soul and I was so hyped for making those drawings. So it's a huge possibility for me to share gothic vibed stuff in the middle of December We will see. I am sure I will finish the abandoned ink learning project and the remaining inktober prompts. I will also participating in two supernatural-themed bangs/fests (@dcwildwestfest and @mitskinaturalbang , also they're looking for artists to join to Mitskinatural, so please participate, it will be fun ;) ). Which is pretty exciting. They have priority. (I am really happy for these bangs.)

Enough of rambling, I just wanted to sit down and make a mental check up after I am not exhausted all the time. (Surprise.) Now I get back to creating stuff.

And now for something completely different.

This is the ADHD Teapot. I made it in a ceramics class a few years ago. I use it to explain executive dysfunction to people who haven’t come across the term before (and those who think of ADHD mostly as Hyperactive Eight Year Old Boy Syndrome).

So, most people’s brains are like a regular shaped teapot with a single spout. Let’s say that your time, energy, focus etc is the liquid you have in the teapot. Your executive function is the spout, that directs the tea into the specific cup you want to fill-aka the task that you’re meant to be doing. Spills happen occasionally, but generally most of the tea goes in the right cup.

If you have executive dysfunction, (a symptom of ADHD, trauma, autism, schizophrenia etc.) you have multiple spouts going in different directions. You can try pointing one of them at your chosen cup and you will probably get some liquid in there, perhaps you will even fill it right up (finish the task). But meanwhile, tea is also pouring out of several other places and not going where you want it. If you have another container nearby, perhaps some of it will end up in there. But quite a lot of it is going to end up on the floor and accomplish nothing.

And at the end of the day you’ll have filled one or two cups ( or sometimes not even one) compared to the five or six that somebody with the same sized teapot (but only one spout) has filled, and everyone wonders why you’re so bad at getting tea poured, and why you make such a mess in the process.

One day I’d like to spend more time learning pottery and create a really technically good fucked up little adhd teapot. But that’s a long way off since i currently live in the outback and the nearest pottery workshop is some 400km away. But I figure that for now, it might be a useful or interesting metaphor to somebody even in its rough draft form.

This post is the cup I filled instead of cleaning my house btw.

Even artists who freedraw regularly still do studies, refer to their past work, keep character sheets at hand, etc

Please don't impose that expectation on yourself just because of a live demo, tiktok, or timelapses especially

Not telling y'all that you should be able to identify AI slop (but it is a valuable skill, you totes should), but if you're to be accusing artists of being AI left and right at least go and do your homework, or at least do the bare minimum and use AI identification tools like Hive Moderation, so you 1- don't ruin someone's lifehood 2- don't make a clown out of yourself maybe

Like, i get it, AI slop and "AI artists" pretending to be genuine is getting harder and harder to identify, but just accusing someone out of the blue and calling it a day doesn't make it any better.

The AI clowns shifted to styles that have less "tells" and the AI arts are becoming better. Yeah, it sucks ass.

They're also integrating them with memes, so you chuckle and share, like those knights with pink backgrounds, some cool frog and a funny one liner, so you get used to their aesthetic.

This is an art from the new coming set Final Fantasy for MtG. This is someone on Reddit accusing someone of using AI. From what i can tell, and i fucking hate AI, there is NO AI used on this image.

As far as i can tell and as far as any tool i've used, the Artist didn't use AI. which leads to the next one:

they accused the artist of this one of using Ai. the name of this artist is Nestor Ossandon.

He as already been FALSELY ACCUSED of using AI, because he drew a HAND THAT LOOKED A LITTLE WEIRD, which caused a statement from D&D Beyond, confirming that no AI has been used.

Not to repeat mysef, they're accusing the art above, that is by Nestor, to have used Ai.

REAL artists are not machines. And just like the AI slop, we are not perfect and we make mistakes. The hands we draw have wonky fingers sometimes. The folds we draw are weird. But we are REAL. We are real people. And hey, some of our "mistakes" sometimes are CHOICES. Artistic choices are a thing yo.

If you're to accuse someone of using Ai, i know it's getting hard to identify. But come on. At least do your due diligence.

Meanwhile Phoenix Wright looks like the stereotypical hot anime boy that you’d think would be the object of many a person’s dreams…

But his looks are constantly ridiculed and insulted and half the people he has helped don’t even remember his name. Usually the insults are directed at his hair but like… he doesn’t even have the weirdest hair in the franchise.
