2024 Art in Review: Civil Otterneer

Thanks everyone for following or mooting me, leaving great/funny tags, and generally being some great pals. This is my first year where I've dedicated so much to such a practice (outside of years of gaming) and I've never felt better!

This year in review also reflects an important milestone: I've been a furry for 1 year! Here's to many more of fun, fuzzy, otterly-great fun!

The prospect of learning to paint (in Procreate or otherwise) is extremely daunting to me, but I’m at least taking a step outside my wheelhouse and playing around with different brushes, which is fun and makes me feel like I’m a 90s manga artist using screentones.

One night I needed a profile picture, so I thought I'd mix two of my hyper-fixations and BAM! These were born. Editing Regulus into the TF2 Achievement Artstyle is so easy and satisfying i love this whiny, pathetic little pissboy loser so much. Thought I'd upload these here in the (admittedly very rare) case anyone else was searching for such a thing.

The Search for Civ

"So, how do you plan on going about this?" I asked Livic.

"Easy, a trace spell," he responded in a gloating way.

"Yeah, tried that already. I had planned on seeing if your...master would provide me a spell to use the orb of Civ's memories to trace him, but I guess that's just you now," I responded, "Mind if I use you as a spell component?"

I tried to add a mischievous jab back at him, and it actually seemed to stop the devil a moment.

"I'll have you know, I'm much better as a being than a simple component," he scoffed, "Besides, my master already informed me what I need to do."

He began to trace spell circles in the air, a magical force I was not accustomed to. This must be the devilish magic that most mortals do not get a chance to even see.

"If I'm not wrong, which I'm not," he said as he finished the spell, "He should be right about..."

As the spell flashed red magic, a few points showed up in the air. A red-tinted earth showed a moment, before backing away, until the entire solar system became just a dot. It backed and showed another series of planets, a large rocky body with 2 moons.

"Heh, that's why you're spell kept failing: he's not on this planet right now!" he said with a sense of success, "You're spell kept saying up, well, I'll say that's one heck of an 'up'!"

I stood stunned.

"Not...on...this...planet...," I trailed off.

"Yep, my master knows of that planet. The local wolf people call it 'Adastra'," Vic responded matter-of-factly.

"You say that like learning of aliens isn't greatly surprising to me," I responded.

"Well, it isn't to us. The universe is full of life, and Asmodeus has tempted plenty a mortal of other worlds," Vic stated, "I'm actually surprised a technologically and magically advanced species like yours hasn't figured that out yet."

I tried to take it all in, but felt like I'd lose my mind if I didn't stay on task. There will be time to consider the implications of his words later.

"Well, I guess you want me to get him? Guessing since you couldn't find him that teleporting there would be rather difficult?" he asked slyly.

I hated telling this thing I needed his help, but I had no other choice.

"Yes," I said through gritted teeth, "Please help me get him."
